I stopped in for a hot chai and two muffins. The chai was very good but I’m annoyed I couldn’t get a larger size than what they offered. My partner and I got both muffins that were available, the blueberry, and the chocolate chip. These muffins were obviously on the older side because they were hard and stale tasting. The place itself was nice and the workers were friendly but I do not think I will be coming back anytime soon.
Love the atmosphere and general look of this coffee shop. The mixture of brick, wood and metal is absolutely lovely and the big windows in front really brighten up the place. The coffee was great and when I went they had both oat and macadamia as dairy-free milk options.
Cool people, warm conversation, and hot coffee. It’s a safe haven of trendiness here on LI, and a great place to get some homework or some reading done. Their espresso pulls on the medium-dark side, to give you that chocolate-dipped stone fruit feel. Absolutely amazing.
How cool is it to almost trip over a few canvas bags of raw coffee beans while heading to the counter to order coffee? Flux coffee cafe looks like it was lifted from Williamsburg Brooklyn and dropped in the Village of Farmingdale, in order to bring a real dimension of what a coffee shop should be at minimum.Decorated creatively with pipe and flange shelving in addition to a nice seating area inside (outdoor seating too), Flux coffee will hit you up with an awesome brew, justifying the NYC pricing template.Best to park and enter from the back parking lot if you are driving as there is limited space along Main Street to park. Just look for the lattice wall and umbrellas when entering from the parking lot as its hard to see the Flux sign. (Next to Lithology Brewing.)
Super friendly baristas take care with their drink making - everything is so delicious and they make a lot of their baked goods now and nice to see a place with good quality coffee here in Farmingdale with unique flavors and eclectic treats! Oh and latte art! And also non dairy milks too.
A tea drinker, they have one of the best London Fog I’ve ever had. Surpassed Starbucks and other cafes. I enjoy the attention to the drink, slightly sweeten but not overpoweringly sweet. The warm, easy and relax atmosphere makes it a great spot to read, journal and take a breath.
I went to the festival on main street today and found Flux for the first time. The coffee shop had a local feel to it. The couches and tables were comforting , sacks of coffee beans around the room were a nice decorative touch.I ordered a Lavender Fields Forever latte, although the cup seemed small the coffee was delicious. Coffee was hot , with a nicely design foam. The latte had a vanilla and lavender flavor that was so good I returned that night to get another cup.
Amazing coffee! All the reviews I read about the mocha were spot on. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the staff friendly and helpful and oh the coffee! Go enjoy the back patio or chill on the couch. It is nice to have an unpretentious coffee shop that appreciates quality beans and roasts.
Oh yeah this place is so great! I love wasting $13 on stale coffee that tasted like absolute garbage and the latte that got my girlfriend sick. Now I quickly remembered why I haven’t came back in here since this place opened. If you want good coffee try out Babylon bean or jack jacks coffee house where there coffee doesn’t taste like you just sipped the acid out of a Duracell battery.
Love this place. Smoke Maple Latte has real maple. Care Bear Latte tastes like gingerbread without being full of sugar. Iced mocha is made like a mocha is supposed to be. Muffins and other baked goods are fresh and most (if not all) are vegan compared to 0 options at most places. Workers are nice, prices are great for local products, and its nice to see an independent coffee place that doesnt charge an arm and a leg. My favorite daily coffee place by far. Recommended.
This place is a quaint local little cafe. Im a big Starbucks fan, this place almost lost a Star because I feel the menu for espresso drinks was lacking. Very good prices , especially compared to Starbucks. Plenty of seating, nice ambience and atmosphere. Staff was incredible. Highly recommend you check this out. Parking is difficult, but its because its on Main Street. There are surrounding municipal lots, but they are always packed.
Ive enjoyed Flux for over a year now. They offer fantastic and individually prepared cafe drinks, both hot and cold. And their sweet treats are a tasty modern take on the regular cafe fair. The staff is knowledgeable about everything they put in your cup. The environment is uniquely mellow and creative. Flux is my favorite place for a weekend treat or week day pick me up.
I cannot express enough how amazing Flux Coffee is. As stated in other reviews, Long Island seriously lacks in the area of quality, local coffee shops with good vibes, good coffee, and relaxed ambiance. Flux goes above and beyond not just the Long Island area, but it is one of the best coffee shops I have been to, ever! To start the size is perfect for coming in and hanging out; there are plenty of tables, counters, couches, etc....and there are a ton of outlets! The decor (brick walls, unique tables, counters, light fixtures, art, etc.) is beautiful and all made and designed by the owner! The lighting is nice, not too bright or too dark. The coffee selection and baked goods are quality with just the right amount of options. There is also oat milk and mac nut milk available for non-dairy options...so nice not to just have soy and almond like most places! All the coffee is light roast...which is wonderful and the best coffee I have had in ages...we bought 1.5 lbs to take home! The music is not too loud and the location is perfect, not too far from the I495! Thanks so much Flux Coffee, you just made life a Long Island improve for us more than you can imagine, you will surely see us every weekend :)
Love the atmosphere, friendly employees. I actually dont like coffee and there isnt a huge selection for non-coffee drinkers but I love the hot chocolate. Give the golden milk a try too!Update: More non-coffee choices as time goes on! Right now there are flavored lemonade options, kombucha and really really great iced tea!
Customer service is not my favorite here at all. My brother had to use the bathroom as an absolute emergency while we were waiting to Order our coffee. We asked one of the guys behind the counter if we could please use the bathroom. He gave us a nasty attitude for no reason, telling us it was closed. He could have just nicely told us that we cannot use it, but his tone was aggressive and condescending. Wont be back!
As far as cafes on long island go - this is as good as it gets. Their lattes are amongst the best ive ever had. The mocha is amazing with that homemade chocolate sauce! And they have lavender lattes and golden milk?! SO GOOD. Creative drink options with cute and delicious pastries. Also i hear now they will be roasting coffee beans on site
This is my favorite coffee shop on Long Island! They roast their own beans and their coffee is soo good! They have an impressive amount of vegan milk options including oat, macadamia, and almond. They also sell pastries like mini donuts and cupcakes. Lastly, they’re really zero waste/low waste/low impact friendly!! They’re one of the few shops in this area that sell Keep Cups and they recently started selling reusable metal straws too. They mostly serve beverages in reusable mugs and food on reusable plates.
Flux had 3 different coffees to choose from. All were pour overs. They use fresh ground beans which are placed into a filter and then slowly pour hot water over the ground coffee. I had the Mexican Oaxaca pour over and an apple turnover. Excellent! A little pricey but much better taste and quality than Starbucks.Plenty of seating, clean and nice decor.
Been waiting for the place to open up for a bit, drove by today to see it open! I walked in and thought the place was great, it had a great feel to it. I ended up getting a Mocha, it was awesome, it was made with homemade chocolate! The guy that made it was super friendly and polite. Very happy to stop there on my way to work from now on!
Great place and good service with great staff (baristas) I visited them several times but none of these time had a great and unforgettable Cortado, they make below average cortado. The flat white was fare and the V60 was good.I will try to come back one more time to try cortado with different coffee beans.
Walking off of Main St. into this local coffee shop one might think they just entered Hipster Brooklyn. But dont be fooled by the bearded baristas behind the counter. You will not encounter any such snobbery from them. Instead youll be greeted by friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Theyre more than happy to walk you through the different coffee beans and finding you the exact bean for your palate.I personally prefer the Bali Coffee. It is sweet and carries hints of blueberry. However, any of the blends will not leave you disappointed. The maple doughnut will leave you wanting more. It is the perfect bite of sweetness.
Flux is super unique. A coffee shop like no other, something Long Island has been lacking. Always an incredible and refreshing experience. Arsalan and the guys are true masters of their craft. Very passionate and knowledgeable baristas that are always so kind, welcoming and generous. Can’t begin or end my day without coming to this wonderful place. Thank you guys! I have learned so much about coffee in one year!
Cant really judge a place based on just ONE visit, but my experience was meh. The coffee and prices were fine, but service was kind of disorganized. I can sympathize because I work with food and customer service, but the barista had to walk over to my friend after he realized that she took the wrong beverage and this prolonged the waiting period for the customers after her, including me. The problem was that after my friend ASKED one of the baristas if the beverage was hers, he said YES... then what I had explained occurred.Good drinks, good prices, great atmosphere, just poor organization.
I always stop in when Im in the area. I love the decor and atmosphere, and always feel welcomed. I get greeted like a friend every time. The baristas know their stuff and can make recommendations on the spot.My favorite top 3 are the Lavender Fields Forever latte, Endless Rose latte and Dirty Chai latte. I love the Dirty Chai a lot because its not at all overly sweet like Starbucks sugar laden syrupy nonsense.A lot of thought and care goes into what they serve. And it is better than anywhere else Ive been.
Love this place! I am a big fan of Farmingdale Main Street in general and Im a bigger fan because of all of these private family run businesses. Its nice to not have a bunch of corporate chains on main street. The barista was super friendly and made me a perfect café mocha! I will definitely be back for more :)
Loved this cafe. Theres a reason why its highly rated. Great atmosphere. Friendly baristas. Yummy food and coffee. I had the ginger something muffin. Mmmmm, so good. Love the cups and dishes.Ample seating. Bathroom available. On cute small town Main street. Street parking.

2022-02-21This was my second time here. The first time is when Covid restricted indoor seating and it was too cold to sit out. Today was absolutely perfect. The staff and cleanliness of the cafe maintained Covid protocol. On the note of staff, everyone here was absolutely wonderful. Five starts isn’t enough for their service. I wish you could give more. Everyone was so kind and lovely overall. It was a bit crowded because of the good weather and holiday. I’ll def. come back to study here. There’s outlets on a wall. Couches too. Very lax and comfy!Def try the maple flavored latte.

2022-03-04Best matcha latte in long island, no powder at the bottom, give it too you nice and hot, and it doesnt come presweetened. Plus after a piece of a whisk broke off into my first matcha, they made me another one, very generous of them.

2021-07-19Excellent local roaster in Farmingdale. Theyre passionate about what they do and it shows. Great beans, exquisite roasts, always evolving selection, comfy and accommodating seating, with an awesome patio out back. The staff are very friendly and answer weird questions about coffee with a smile. Try their seasonal and ever changing specials when you can. The espresso lemonade was weirdly delicious, and their new Ground Control machine makes exquisite small batch brews of their in-house single origin beans that are delicious, cold and refreshing, and still retain some of the nuanced flavor notes and profiles you might like in a pour over of your favorite roast.

2020-08-24If you love a light roast this place is great. I personally don’t care for dark roast. The staff was friendly and the coffee was fantastic. While in town over the last month I have tried at least 4 or 5 different. My favorite has been the Columbia! Highly recommend!

2017-12-14The warm lighting, fresh and clean interior, and softly-playing music contribute to a study atmosphere that surpasses any Long Island coffee shop that Ive been to. The people are kind and the coffee is delicious, like -- is there anything wrong with this place? That being said, not every table has outlets so its worth it to come early or be prepared to prowl a little if you are working on electricity dependent. The location is complete with group study/longer tables, single person tables, and even a couch -- truly a rarity in most coffee shops. Also, theres not much in the way of food, but light snacks (pastries and sweets) are available. I would return here if I ever passed by the area and highly recommend for coffee-drinkers and students alike.

2018-11-21This little cafe if warm and inviting. Soft music is playing from a chosen vinyl album, the barista was pleasant, and the coffee was good. Really good. I had the smoke maple latte. Its all a bit pricey, but the attention to detail is exquisite. I cant recommend this place for a quick coffee run, but as a once in a while treat, definitely worth it.

2018-03-14Ok, I ordered a house specialty coffee, a lavender something and it was SO GOOD. I didnt need to add anything to it at all. Out was perfectly frothy and delicious and overall yummy. The environment is so cute and local that you get a good sense of the people in the area. Staff was super kind and caring about my approval. Great experience, definitely a new favorite on the island.

2017-06-17Great staff, awesome coffee and a great place to sit and chill for a bit. Cheddar scallion scone is my favorite there, but their doughnuts and muffins are great too!
