My experience was very bad. I am talking about LIRR Forest Hills station not the place Forest Hills which by the way is good. When I entered the station bathroom the switch didnt have any plate so I almost shocked myself, and the exhaust fan came loose and is rubbing against the roof tile. I dont know what happened to the station, it was my first time going to this station and it was a shocking Discovery.
Large express train station hub for the bustling and popular Forest Hills area. Catch the E, F express trains and get into the city within 30 minutes or take the R local for 45 minutes into the city. Crowded and often there are no seats for people getting on the train here.
First the side going back towards Jamaica is literally crumbling and has sheets of plywood covering cracks. The other side going towards Manhattan has a rest area which is decent except it is often closed in the afternoon when it can be significantly colder and you want to wait Im a heated area. If you unfortunately have to use the restroom it worse than a remote neglected gas station rest stop. At least they have a relatively functional door. The wood door is cracked and you can even see through it so proceed with caution. This door wont survive a hit or offer much safety. The bathroom is missing the exhaust fan cover it appears and the bathroom toilet paper holder had been broken for months if not longer as that was the first time I went to wash my hands and saw the deplorable conditions. Whoever is responsible for this location should be severely reprimanded with docked pay or terminated immediately. I mean really you cant spend a dollar at home depot to at least attach a light cover over the light switch with the exposed electrical.

2019-12-29I like very much this station because it’s a great charming place ! If you’re needing a shopping trip or hungry good are the there’s. .. Helpful hint for getting between the Long Island or Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn or Penn Station in Manhattan on weekends is better prices, LIRR CityTicket, good only on day of purchase. The LIRR now runs on a 24-hour schedule, which was news to me, but definitely...

2020-08-26It’s like you traveled back in time. The station is super quiet on the weekends. Beware of the passing trains... they travel pretty fast, the back draft will definitely move you.

2021-02-14The clay / orange color scheme of the station matches the Tudor style architecture of the buildings nearby. The visible Manhattan skyline in the Background offers a pretty interesting view . The station is very close to Austin street the heart of entertainment. You want to be the 1st 5 cars of the rail due to shorter platform length.

2021-06-30A Beautiful scenery, great architecture ,one of nyc best locking train stations hands down.if you appreciate old architecture this place is a must visit .It is also clean and well lite at night. The long island railroad runs every 45 minutes over there. But be careful what side your on ,one train is going to longiland and the other is going to Manhattan.really no signs to tell you.and the walk up the stairs is pretty long ,there is no escalators or escalators.
