Fortina in other cities:
I ordered items that I have previously experienced and were a perfect fit for my accompanying guests. The appetizers are portioned just right -nothing too small. They allowed me to share between two adults and one child. We ordered the Brussels sprouts eggplant coliflower fried meatballs & ofcourse a pizza pie. Id go back we always have decent service and respectful staff to our disposal.
Pizza was amazing! Loved the LB Pizza.. with buratta, black truffle truffle, robiolona and super thin crust.. was told to try the chili honey glaze, I personally don’t care for the honey but my friend dumped it on her pizza and loved it! The eggplant rolatini was so crispy and yummy.. ordered a lemon drop martini.. deliciously sweet and refreshing.. loved the outdoor seating.. oh and for dessert we tried the bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla gelato, the waitress recommended the pair.. and we were glad she did! 👌🏼
We were quickly seated and both ordered the wood-fired lasagna.Service was quick, I cut into mine and the middle was ice cold. You would think that the chef would check the food temp before serving it.I immediately called staff over and told him about the problem. Both servings were returned to the kitchen. We assumed that we would get a fresh plate, but the original order was returned and the server didn’t know which plate was who’s.That was enough to make us leave without any further discussion.
Ive been to fortina before but under different circumstances and at a different location. My partner and I came here for some lunch (specifically interested in the pizza). During this visit, outside seating was available, social distancing was in place, granted there were only other 2 customers. Staff cleaned/santized after every customer. A new ordering method is being used instead of someone taking your order. If you don’t have a smart phone or if your phone doesn’t have Qr. code scanning capabilities then you can’t really come here as they don’t have actual menus. You have to use your personal phone and order through it and prepay for your order. We ordered the classic pizza with pepperoni, an order of calamari and 1 soda ($3 for a tiny 6oz cup) and it was totaled at 50 dollars. Gratuity was included in the total (18% minimum). The total seemed kind of high for what we got and also an enforced 18% gratuity rate doesnt make sense when the customers and staff arent even having contact during COVID. Nonetheless the food was good, a bit over priced, but it was a nice quiet lunch day out.
Amazing pizza and meatballs! Try the spicy meatball pizza with hot peppers. The meatvall appetizer is my absolute favorite and the closest thing to how my grandmother used to make meatballs. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The truffle oil pizza is great and the prosciutto pizza is also amazing. We went with a group of 7 so I got to try a few things. The chicken parm was also one of my favorites. Its a cool old industrial building thats been converted into a restaurant so it has a really cool vibe to it. Bit a huge selection of wine or beer but the few that they have are good. Definitely worth a visit when in Yonkers, or Armonk, or Brooklyn.
I found this place close to my hotel and the reviews looked good, so did the pics of the food.Fortina is in a really cool looking, old building and has a industrial feel when you get inside. The unmistakable aroma of a wood fire is welcoming.I was seated quickly, as I went to the bar being solo. The bartender, Melanie, was over with the menu pretty quickly with the pizza and Happy Hour options too. I quickly eyed the Chicken Parm Sliders and $5 well drinks on the Happy Hour menu as my opening options. For my dinner I was stuck between the Wood Oven Baked Ziti and the Gnocchi, with Melanie suggesting the ziti. I went with that and about that time the sliders came out. And all I can say is amazing is not enough for how good they were. When my ziti came it looked just as good and I opted to add a meatball to it. That put this ziti over the top. The cheese was stringy and gooey, the sauce has great flavor, the pasta was perfect and the meatball had a great texture and taste. Perfect portion with the 2 together.Lastly, I wanted Key Lime Pie (made locally), but they were out and I opted for the Bread Pudding. I should have never wanted the pie, because the bread pudding was the best Ive ever had. Ever. Im from the south and grew up on bread pudding, this was the best. Ever.
This location should be closed to salvage the brands reputation. I have made the mistake a few times of going to the yonkers location always with buyers remorse.. I dont know why i choose to pass Devino in Hastings which blows this place away. My last time visiting Fortina in Yonkers is today after spending lots of money in Armonk over the years incluing graduation parties baptism and birthday parties. I suggest they rebrand this location out of respect for Armonk
Excellent place for a date of just to get out of your routine where you can find one of the most beautiful polenta table rich in flavors. Their attention to details by the entire staff is amazing. Great selection of cocktails (Negroni and Gumad group choice). Great music and excellent ambient. I truly recommend this place because I am about to become a regular there
I simply loved the experience we had at this restaurant. The customer service was amazing. I would give 10 starts if possible. Great experience. I went with my brother and his wife to try the polenta. It was great its a must. Im not a drinker but I tried the Gamud and it instantly became my favorite drink, I loved it. Ps they have amazing sangria. Everything was amazing even their playlists 😂. I love the place was spacious and simple.prices were right for the type of restaurant. We will be definitely going back
This place was amazing! The food was great especially the ravioli. The pizza was good too but could’ve been better. Definitely loved the drinks which were really refreshing! Overall the service was great. I love the idea of using this mini card as a way of calling someone over instead of making eye contact so you can call someone over to ask for anything.
The food is always delicious. The service is always terrible. Every time we go, I say it’s the last time. Tonight, our server dropped our food and didn’t return for over 40 minutes! We needed water and drinks but couldn’t find her. My daughter went to the bathroom and she was on her phone. She was also in her phone on the floor. Luckily, the bartender was very attentive and helped us get what we needed.
Overpriced Calamari that was no better then rubber. $17 dollars. What you see in the picture was left untouched. Flat soda. Dirty cups. Dirty plate. Fruit fly swatting every few minutes. We left after the paying and went to taco project across the way. A lot better quality of everything. Go there instead!
Delicious Italian food! Pretty big place with lots of outdoor seating. Great menu with over a dozen pizza options. They have a huge bar and a DJ (at least on Saturday nights). The service is very good with a friendly staff. They have big wood fire ovens for their pizzas which come out very quickly and very hot. The pizza is good, both in flavor and variety. The fried calamari was excellent. They have good meatballs and mozz sticks. Even the salads are good. Theres plenty more choices than that on the menu - including a full compliment of specialty drinks. Inside is big and can accommodate large parties in the back. I enjoyed my time here.
The place had a great rustic feel to it but in an upscale way. My wife had a pizza and my daughter and I had the fire roasted ziti. Both were delicious. Service was impressive, although it wasnt crowded. I want to see if there that attentive when its crowded. Friendly staff and they just seem as if they want to please you. Great neighborhood joint. Will be going there often.
Had my flight canceled, so stopped in here for dinner. Really liked the atmosphere. Meatballs were excellent. Ciocolata densa was super rich, and they give enough for at least two people. Eggplant app was good. Ashlees service was great. Id probably come more often if I was local.
Pizza, pizza, pizza! My fave no matter where I go is marinara style. The true flavor of the crust is revealed topped by tasty tomato sauce. Heavenly! All pies are great here plus other dishes. Yonkers location is cool, industrial and festive. Its close to Ubtemyer park.
Opened 2 nights ago. Things were a bit hectic but food was amaZing and ambience and music was very nice. Hoping to go back soon once things settle down. Wait times were inaccurate and get ready to wait at the bar for a while. Will reevaluate once I go back will give them the benefit of the doubt since its a new spot
Now if it was up to me, this awesome rustic warehouse would have made the coolest automotive shop, but if it has to be a restaurant, Fortina is right at home. So many places in Yonkers cant get it together but Fortina has! Great service, great and unique food, and Yonkers brewery beer. Not your typical Italian restaurant, very modern take on old classics. 4 for now, but once I return, Im sure it will be 5.
The place was cozy, staff were attentive and very friendly. More than one person was serving which was great. The food came out quickly and the drinks were good. The vibe/ambiance was great to wine down.I must say a few critiques... the cutlets were very thin and over fried. They were okay but the over frying messed them up a bit. The garlic bread was good but it was more like cheesy bread my wife liked it...to me it was blah. The meatballs were good and my favorite was the potatoe croquettes. They were made to perfection.Bartender made good drinks. The waitress serving the bar area today did a great job and so did everyone else (from my entry to my exit.)Overall, I was happy.
Love the high ceilings & amazing cool looking space! The food could be better! Too many fried items. I like melted Mozzerella on my eggplant rollotini. Only ricotta inside! It has way Too much bread crumbs, too thick & it came out cold. Fried Meatballs were good, again stuffed w too much bread crumbs! Appetizers are overpriced!
I impressed by a design of the place. There are only a few unique designed restaurants in Westchester. However, the prices are a bit higher, menu is simple. We were sitting at the table right next to a bar, and there were midges, that bother us during the whole lunch. I noticed more of them near the open wine bottles at the bar. Maybe its better to ask for a new bottle to opened in front of you.
I decided to give this place a try and wouldn’t come back!! Ordered calamari and it’s the most horrible plainest calamari rubber I’ve ever tasted. $17 for a tiny portion, definitely not worth it!! Also the pizza wasn’t all that, didn’t taste like authentic brick oven pizza. The cups and plates didn’t look clean. I even ended up going next door to Taco Project and had a better experience! Save your money and go elsewhere!
This past Friday evening, I took 16 of my daughters friends to Fortina for my daughters 17th birthday. A definite 5 star experience and a special thank you to Amanie Henderson, our party host. He assisted me during the week with menu planning, stopped by our table continuously to make sure there was nothing we needed, arranged my cupcakes on a great pizza pan and had the waiters gather and sing happy birthday to my daughter. The food itself was excellent and its great and definitely unique how Fortina offers so many party package ideas in all different price ranges. I will definitely be back and will recommend Fortina without a doubt!
Good food, small portions, flavorful. Pricey. Spent $45 and these guys don’t give forks or utensils for takeout orders don’t know why it’s like they expect you to eat pasta with your hands. Girl that took my order was rude changing her mood when I said I wanted take out not dine in.
“Good evening. Welcome to Fortina. Would you like to start with a drink?”None of this I got when I came here. It was more like this: we asked - could we sit at the bar? - they - YesThen we sit at the bar and wait for something. And wait more. And more. A couple of costumers that came after us had to wait as well - they were smarter than us and they left after nobody offered them service. We should have done this as well.Eventually we have to wave down a waitress. The food arrived - no utensils. We had to wave for a bus boy to get the utensils.Nobody asked us if we wanted another drink - we had one wine glass each.Food is good and cooked with care. The service is lethargic and disinterested in costumers. Too bad.Message for Fortina: good food - bad service.I come to spent money and I expect to be greeted and served properly for my money.I could cook the food at home that is much cheaper. I come to the restaurant to be served!! It is all about the service. Your company has failed to do so. I will not return. It is quite puzzling, you put so much care into cooking but zero in customer service. What’s wrong with you???Final word - my dollars will not end up at your place. Bye
Ill start off with the positive, the food is incredible. Their wood fire pizzas, their pastas, apps and everything else in the menu is A plus. Now for the negative, the service is absolutely atrocious! There servers and bar tenders actively ignore guest, their bar is plagued with fruit flies obviously from lack of proper cleaning, and even some times you can hear the cook screaming in their open kitchen. But the pizza is good
HORRIBLE - Avoid at all cost. I could say service was bad, if there was ANY service at all. Employees ignored clients, tables were dirty, etc. in fact, other patrons were commenting amongst ourselves how bad the experience was. Petiole we’re literally walking out after sitting because no one would take care of them. AVOID THIS PLACE. For the first time in my life I would give a place zero stars…
The food was very good our waiter as well as the rest of the staff were wonderful we had fried calamari which was wonderful my husband the wood roasted chicken it was also very good and my son and his fiancee had pizza with truffles which they loved - I unfortunately only had a salad and that was very good. My son said the drinks were great. We sat outside on the side of the building great privacy to chat and enjoy. Bon appetit
Trendy Italian in a converted warehouse type space. Therefore, loud - but still able to converse. Varied, interesting menu. Many wood fired oven selections - not just the pizza. Wood fired cauliflower app on a Rosa sauce with pesto was delicious. It was one of many veg centric app (or side) selections. Partner had very ample prosciutto and fig platter (easily feed two) that was equally yummy. Wood fired chicken Parm was again ample, well executed and delicious. Partners wood fired baked gnocchi was spot on. The service was pleasant but glitchy (gnocchi main came out with apps and we had to ask for our iced teas). Would definitely return.
I decided to eat here after someone recommended it. The restaurant is really nice and the staff is very attentive. I ordered the garlic bread and it was very good. I also ordered the Chicken Parm and it was horrible. Its not real chicken. Its kind of like a giant Chicken Mc Nugget. I couldnt identify any chicken in the pattie. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs. She said it was ok but couldnt tell what type of meat it was. It surely wasnt beef. I will try this place again and only have the pizza. The menu should be more clear about the ingredients.
Pizza is great.... but over priced . And they don’t carry any good domestic or import beers, just small no name beers at $9 a popWhat happened to your regular beers? No bud/Stella/Michelob!!!This place is nice , they need bigger portions/ and fire the beer manager. Not everyone is a microbrew drinker.
After our hike and on the way back home we decided to stop for dinner at this establishment. We were able to easily make our reservation while driving to the location and was promptly seated upon arrival. With a party of 4 we decided to basically get a variety of items to share because most of us have either dietary restrictions, or allergies to certain foods and as a group we are very versed in choosing a selection that fits our tastes everytime that we can share. The pizzas here are famous, so after careful combing of the menu we were able to ask questions and was able to settle on 4 pizzas one of which was a truffle pizza and a large ceasar salad family style and other appetizers that was on the healthy side. Our server was not a seasoned professional so there was not many questions she was able to handle without some assistance from the other staff members, but that was not an issue for us because we understood that she was fairly new.At some point during our meal we noticed that one of the pizza had contained a pork product that was not listed as an ingredient that we saw when reviewing the menu, and was not specified after consulting with our server beforehand. This was an issue since this restriction was more than just dietary for that particular individual with our group. The issue was quickly addressed by the manager on duty and a great resolution was accomplished. We were able to enjoy the rest of our dinner and wine in the great atmosphere and feel of the restaurant.Based on that service and the quality of the food, and protocol I will be visiting this establishment many times during this coming summer!!
Went last night with wife and daughter the first time and was impressed. The cell phone menu took a bit to get the hang if by the waitress was quick to help. Once the order was placed things started to come quickly and the food was very tasty. We ordered beets, ravioli and chicken. The best for me was the beets with the sauce complemented the squash ravioli perfectly. The drink (bada bung) was dangerous as it tasted really 👍 good. Definitely planning to go back. Also the restaurant wasCOVID conscious .
Wonderful spot for dinner. A friend rightly observed that the design and layout of Fortinas location looked like something youd find at a mid-western strip mall or from an upstate New York suburb. Not a dig, but more a comment on the spaciousness of the set up.Inside, Fortina echoes its spacious exterior with the high vaulted ceilings. They told me what this space once was, but I forgot, so I fantasize that it used to be some old factory. It definitely keeps that look with all the exposed brick and tons of windows. As for the food, it was solid, no-nonsense Italian food that just tasted great. I had the arancini, which were delightful. The pastina with truffle oil was as good as any comfort food can get. My entree of pork chops with vinegar and peppers was a delight. Service was slightly slow (we waited a bit for our drinks), but not noteworthy enough to take away from the overall experience. All in all, this was a solid joint.
Beatfully decorated ,cavernous spot, with a young crowd eating to the beat of the contemporary in music. Theyre only 6 weeks old at this writing and stl have some kinks to iron out, all in all it was a good experience and well be back. BTW, try the fried meatballs and the brasiol
I really like the environment and the service. I would really recommend it. However, theres a new system for ordering and I thinking because of that, they brought the entrees at the same time as the appetizer. Which means, our entree was kind of cold by the moment we finished the appetizer. And some little fly were bothering
First time eating there w my family of 4. Had the Pizzeria Salad which was good and enough to split. Then ordered a pizza which was like a sausage and pepper type and wasnt crazy about it. The portion was not big enough but luckily we werent crazy about the type of pizza we had ordered. My youngest son ordered a cheese pizza from the kids menu and it tasted really good. Reminded me of the pizzas you get in Italy. To drink I ordered an iced tea which was larger than my hubbys soda. Prices were over priced. The waiter was nice. The manager was nice and came by the table to make sure all was well. Also, on Mondays kids under 10 eat FREE w a paying Adult entree. The place was clean and the ambiance was casual & laid back. Would I go back? Eh, perhaps for a plain pizza because I truly wasnt crazy about the pizza w the topping.
Amazing food, the meatballs are well worth the trip. However we must have come in on the most off night of the year. We waited almost 10 minutes to be seated, and almost 20 minutes for a basic round of drinks. No cocktails, beers and wine. The place was half empty too.Food was good the service was laughably bad, if you value service as a part of your experience go elsewhere. Maybe well see Gordon Ramsey screaming at this guy.
Been here before and usually order the pizza, which are phenomenal. But, this time I decided to try their lunch special - Chicken Milanese. The chicken was so flavorful and salad with dressing was super fresh. The portion was plentiful.. shared with my wife who also loved it. Hope they put this on their regular menuService as always is great. Staff is friendly courteous and attentive. Now Im excited to try their other dishes
Great Pizza. Went there once and loved it. The pizza doesnt taste like the regular NYC pizza, but its great still. They do something nice with their pizza and its really great. It was just opening when I went there. The servers were SUPER NICE!!! I really liked the girl who was serving us, she had great charisma. I think her name started with a J...darn, I should have written this review earlier. I went there 5 months ago. The guy who was working with her was also really charismatic, and even though he wasnt our server, he talked to us too. They were both really really nice and made the place that much more enjoyable! They talked about their other locations too.Too bad I dont live in Yonkers or Id go there more. Great place though!
They have an awesome card system where you can place a playing card on a stand as an indicator that you need service. This pizza blew us away. And its not because it was out of this world, but we werent expecting the pizza to taste as good as it did. I dont really think their pasta is the best part of their menu. The pizza shines here. I recommend this spot to any pizza lover.
Great space and enjoyed the bone marrow and mocktails but $10 for the tiniest portion of pasta on the kids menu was way overpriced as was the cauliflower appetizer. The pizza was good but $20 for a personal size pie is a bit much. The Monday kids eat free seems like a good deal.
I think I would enjoy this restaurant better on a hot summer night with a beer. The environment is too chilly for the fall. Very cool interior. I loved this vodka sauce dish with meatballs, then toasted in the oven. The pizza was decent. I loved the crust, but the toppings were underwhelming. Nice staff but had to wait a long time for the bill.
Ive had the opportunity to dine at Fortina several times, each time with different groups of friends and each time these friends and myself agree we had an amazing time. The space and ambience makes you want to have conversations that never end. I am a creature of habit and only ever order the Marinara Pizza which I absolutely adore. My friends have had other styles of pizza, the octopus, the salad and other items and leave absolutely in love with Fortina. They always ask when are we going back. We especially love Juan at the Yonkers location. Hes always bright and smiling and provides great customer service. I wish he could always be my host when Im there. With that being said, the only criticism I would offer is that the other hosts, be just as attentive as he is.
Cool place, friendly service, but it has a chain restaurant feel. WAY overpriced for the small portions of food. Pizza very good. Thin crust, but$16-$20 for a 12 inch personal pizza that they call a regular size pizza is ridiculous. They are a bit confused about the location. The restaurant is on the upper west side of YONKERS, not Manhattan. $12 appetizer, (4 slices of eggplant rolatini) buried in so muchly Parmesean cheese the sauce was a cheese slurry and impossible to tell what you were eating because all it tasted like was tomato soaked parmesan cheese. Worth trying once, but nothing memorable enough to want to go back again.
The food here is everything. Get the Luigi bianco pizza with the truffle or else youve wasted your trip! Its a little overpriced considering the portion size. The decor is industrial and very open. The service is pretty good usually also and the manager almost always stops by to check on you at some point, but music is too loud. Overall its a good dining experience and I frequent there.
This review is strictly about the service. We came for lunch and the the space was relatively empty other than for a handful of tables. The service was so disorderly that we didnt have a dedicated server, it was just a matter of who we can gets attention at the time. After being seated it took 30 minutes to flag down a waiter to take our order because the one who seated us seemed to have forgot about us. She seemed confident in her memorization because she took our entire order (for 6) without writing anything down which would have been fine if she didnt end up forgetting. Our orders didnt come at the same time, we ordered entrees for everyone and a pizza for the table, and half the group already finished their entrees before the pizza came out and we were missing an entree and after inquiring about it to another waitress who said oh it must be on its way instead of actually checking if it was on our order, which since it wasnt on the receipt meant it wasnt and the waitress that took our order forgot it.After finishing our meal, my mother requested an unfinished entree to be taken to go, but the waiter seemed to not have been listening since he took another dirty plate and stacked it on top of the the food we requested to go. There gos tomorrows leftover lunch. The only saving grace was this kind waiter who brought our desserts timely and friendly and actually bothered to check up on us.Overall, the service put a damp feeling on our meal and I dont think were ever coming back. There is simply no excuse to have 10 staff members stand around and talk while there are 8 tables and provide such an absence of service.
Amazing place - the decorations are just outstanding, the food was really good! And the staff very attentive and friendly. The only thing that this restaurant needs to improve is the service. The food came out before our drinks - and the service was kinda slow. But overall, my friends and I loved it.
A really fun pizza spot for the ambience and food. I made a reservation but still had to wait 30 minutes. We had to complain but they gave us some free appetizer and apologized. The customer service was still great and the food is delicious. Good atmosphere on a Saturday night.
Food was very good, service good , nice place. Thats the up side, the down side is everything is a-la- cart, no salad, no bread, nothing. The thing that I dislike the most was...I ordered a Miller high life, waiter brings me an open CANof beer, no glass, I felt like street bum.And as an Italian by birth, it is well know in all Italian households that there is ALWAYS bread on the table. Its an Italian restaurant, they should know this, very disappointing.
The atmosphere was dim, friendly, and chill. I ordered the new plant based chicken parmigiana. It was $29...... with a side of salad OR a hand full of wedge fries. For $29 it should include both fries and salad or pasta and a salad. Aside from the price, it was delicious.
We had the pleasure of celebrating our New Years Eve at Fortina. Everything was perfect! Management was able to accommodate a party of 15 last minute (mix of adults and small children) for an early dinner with their shared menu. We ordered the Chicken Cutlet, of course the Meatballs (yummm), Caesar salad, Garlic Bread, All Amatriciana pizza, Margherita pizza, Wood Fire Paccheri and Fusilli pasta. My entire family could not stop raving about how delicious everything was! The drinks were great & the best part was the service! Our hostess was extremely attentive to all our needs/asks; especially with small children. The restaurant itself is very pretty and ambiance was lovely. 1000% we will be back and I would highly recommend this place to friends and family!
I was so impressed with the inside layout when I walked in! You do not expect it to be so spacious and elaborate on the inside.Red brick walls decorated with street art, rustic unfinished cement blocks, exposed ducked work and firewood staked on the walls for their two big brick oven combined with the upbeat music definitely makes it a really good place to go with friends/family or even a chill date.Happy hour is pretty legitPizza really good (we had the classic margarita and it was delicious!)Drinks are fairly priced (look at their wine selección) and they even have mocktails for those who do not drink alcohol but don’t want juice or soda.Service is A+The plaza has a parking lot (huge plus in NY!) that you DO NOT have to pay for.Great ambiance!Loved it! Definitely coming again!
Had an amazing time here on a Saturday night! Place was packed yet they still met all my expectations and then some. Great food, exceptional service and a really cool atmosphere. Loved the loud music too, it made it feel very lively. Will def be back! Ita a most welcome addition to the Yonkers restaurant scene.
Great location, arugula salad good, $6.00 added chicken. The chicken was mixed pieces of brown meat and white as well as the greasy skin attached , small portions well priced. Refused chicken ask for white meat came back with bits of white meat including skin. Disappointed! Service was good
The pizza was good as always. Now they serve mixed drinks in your own glass pint bottle. They don’t provide menus so if you’re a person without a smart phone you are out of luck. You have to use a QR code to obtain the menu. The menu itself on the website isn’t all that user friendly it can be difficult to navigate to the beverage menu also you pay and tip before you even get your food. Odd because tipping AND paying should be done after the service is over. Other than that it was an ok experience. It was way better prior to COVID-19 but I guess all of these restaurants are trying their best. Also there bathroom lighting is wayyyy too dim and 2 of the 3 didn’t have any soap in the bathrooms but there was plenty of hand sanitizer. I prefer washing with soap and water though.
Great Restaurant, great service and most of all good food. Especially the pizza! The only little complaint we had was that the music was too loud. When you cant hear what the person next to you is saying. I would say it was too loud. We told the manager and she did lower it. We will definitely be returning.
Seats a little uncomfortable at the bar area tables for someone with a big tush (the dueces with red chairs). Ive sat at a regular table and two chairs I tried were wobbly. Otherwise fabulous customer service and food. A little pricey but not terrible. Great rustic atmosphere and the smell of a wood fireplace sets the mood. Will definitely return.
Fortina is our go to family spot for lunch or dinner. I always bring family and friends when they come to visit because the ambiance, service and food is always excellent. I am a big fan of customer service and their hostesses and servers are always down to earth, welcoming and are open to answer any questions about the menu. My husband is a picky eater so was I while I was pregnant. We always made adjustments without any issue! Their pizza is brick oven goodness. All pies are delicious but I would say, always order the Margarita to really taste the dough, sauce and cheese because those simple ingredients on their own are the reasons why we always come back. You dont need to dress fancy to come here, but you do feel like a million bucks because of the staff.
Love this place. The ambiance and the food is great. The bartender could be a little more personable and engage with the guests more but its okay. Dealt with it. I love high ceilings and the art on the walls. Makes you feel like youre somewhere else. Will be back very soon.
My husband and I have been wanting to eat here since we live close by. We went there last night with our daughter. Upon walking in we were excited because the ambiance was lovely. Super urban. But the service was horrible. It took 15 minutes for a server to approach us after seating. And it wasn’t even busy... my husbands food took forever. We were all done eating, and his food still hadn’t arrived. The server explained to us there was a mix up and they are making a fresh one for him... but 30 minutes AFTER we were all done eating and it still hadn’t arrived. I was tempted to tell them forget it, but my husband was very hungry so we still continued to wait. Disappointing because it’s right by the house. We don’t mind pricy but the service has to match your price point. The food was good, not great.
Last night was my first time at this beautiful restaurant and it deserves all five stars. My family and I had reservation but regardless of that, once we walked in the host attended to us immediately. The place is really nice, the vibe and music was dope. It was not to loud or low -everything was just right. Jen or Jenny ( the manager) was also nice enough to introduce herself and was do attentive of us the whole night, along with her crew. You know how you go to places and you only get a welcoming from your hostess-well at Fortina, everyone that passed by made sure we were okay. - We had the infamous Polenta. Guys, when I tell you that everything about this dish was desirable-it was. Even the cauliflower was seasoned. I had a drink called Gumad or Jumad ( Sorry, I was kind of tipsy when I asked the spelling of the name) - this drink was just right. I also had a Sangria, it was on point too. There was nothing wrong with this place at all. Im for sure going back to try the pizzas I saw everyone else having.
This place has really tasty food and is a nice location. They have a great system to get your waiters attention where you put up a card when you need something. This helps prevent the waiter from constantly bothering you or the opposite of trying to figure out how to politely get their attention. All the food was good. We had the bone marrow appitizer and that typically isnt my thing but it was good, just be ready to wait a while before it gets too your table. The rest of the food was really good.It wasnt too busy when we were there and wonder how good the service would be during a busy time.
The place is beautifully decorated. Excellent service from the moment we walked thru the door and throughout our time there. We ordered appetizers and our meals. The way the food came out was strange. For example we ordered a pizza and mozzarella stuck appetizer. Pizza came first then shortly after the mozzarella sticks. There was no order in the way the food was brought to the table.Food servings are very small. For the prices charged there should be more food on the plate. We ordered a green salad. It was bland. I make a better salad at home. The food was ok.. nothing to say yes I want to return to have that meal again. Nothing we ate was delicious! I go out to eat delicious good tasting food. If you have bland taste buds this the place for you.
As a regular business traveler to the area, this place came highly recommended. I waited to write this review until I visited a few times, because I really wanted to like this place. Its close to a hotel I stay at when Im in town, and I love Italian food, and the atmosphere. But Ive learned that my negative experiences are no coincidence. For one, it takes forever to get food, even the simplest dishes, whether Im at the bar or at a table. Ive ordered caprese salad, ravioli, arugala salad, margherita pizza, pasta. This leads me to believe that some components of these dishes must be frozen, or the service management in the kitchen is not good. The bartender Ive had a couple times is great, and clearly recongnizes the delay in service. He does his best to follow up and check in, but can only do so much. The whole vibe of service seems like a lot of miscommunication and chaos. Also, I got take out and was provided no cutlery or napkins. It would be nice for someone on the road to have these conveniences.
Service was less than desirable. I went for a dinner on a Wednesday night, and it was not crowded at all. Like most normal groups, everyone ordered a drink. They slowly made their way to our table. My glass of wine came to me about 40 minutes later after I asked the waitress twice about it, to which when she came by with it, gave to me with an attitude and said they had to get a bottle from down stairs. Ok you had to get a bottle from downstairs, no need to give me an attitude and slam my glass of wine on the table. There was maybe 3 other tables there of about 4 people each, my glass of wine shouldn’t have taken 40 minutes....unless the grapes were being stomped in the kitchen. Also there were several staff members there and we were the biggest table there. We shouldn’t have to ask for our drinks more than once in a night that is not busy. Surprisingly enough, the food came out incredibly fast and was very good indeed. What I am not impressed with is the attitude and poor service. If it was a busy Friday or Saturday night I would be more forgiving. But a Wednesday night when no one is barely there? I’d be scared to go on a busy night. In fact, I don’t think I’d go back at all. I can serve myself wine under 40 minutes sans the attitude.
Listen...pasta, butter, Parmesan cheese, and truffles is love at first sight and a boyfriend could never okay? The pastina was so flavorful and so filling. The staff was friendly and very respectful of myself and my teacher being on our lunch break and having to get back by a certain time. I will definitely be back.
Not a good lunchtime experience for four. Very clever use of industrial space. Has a good vibe but vibe cannot be eaten. For the price, small portions. Fifteen for a caesar salad that fills half the bowl. Pies are skimpy for $15-18. Cup of mediocre coffee $3.50 But most unpleasant of all was service that was weird: who serves someone a sandwich and then brings the rest of the food for the others fifteen minutes later? No one hustles in this place that I could see. Sorry...I wont return.
Good atmosphere. Cool place for lunch or dinner. Good food and great friendly service. Interesting menu. Chris our waiter was very knowledgeable and everything he suggested was great. Our first time here and certainly not our last. We had a late lunch and the restaurant was not crowded. Almost every member of the staff made stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed.
Outraged at the disdain of service. The ambience and decor are incredible, but the service is horrible. The drinks are not prepared with love, but with obligation. The food did not leave a bit to be desired by the presentation of the dish.We ordered the chicken parmegiana and the bartender asked if we wanted silverware and dishes.Who has ever eaten parmegiana chicken without utensils?Price high for the horrible service.Filthy bathroom. They should train employees or hire professionals to match the restaurant decorMy note is:0 for the attendance.0 for cleaning the bathroom.0 for cleaning cutlery and dishes.2 for the drink.5 for the food.10 for decoration
I remember this building when I was a kid in Yonkers... the abandoned brick building with deer leaping in and out the windows or where youd go to do graffiti. I stood in awe once walking in lol. The ambiance and decor is pretty sick and I love that they kept the builing in its original state for the most part. As someone who grew up there that was nice to see :) The food was great and the servers were all super friend and seemed down to earth. We went around 2pm on a Thursday so there was no wait at all. We ordered about 5 different things... 3 veggies a pizza and ziti. All of it was amazing. Our whole mean was unintentionally vegetarian so if youre a vegetarian theres plenty of options. Some vegan ones as well. We also got a phone call the following day thanking us for coming in which was really nice. Definitely will be back!
NW Yonkers needed this in the area! About time too! Very good food, attentive staff & cool decor! OMG those fried meatballs!! Just like how my mom made them! Love the margarita pizza, and their roasted chicken had so much flavor and it wasnt dried out! Definitely making this place a regular!
Second time we’ve ordered via door dash and it was closed for a private event. My order went through I waited an hour before fortinas told door dash that my order had to be cancelled as they’re not accepting orders. You need to let people know that you aren’t taking orders and maybe post online that your closed for an event. Considering this wasn’t a one time occurrence they need to be better at organizing and communicating.
Such a nice location! I was really excited about going here because of the press and having visited other locations. We shared the chicken parm and the paccheri. Salty, but really satisfying. The service was sub par and I chalk that up to it being a newly opened location. When you walk in, no one greets you and you stare aimlessly until you are recognized (also inconsistent because some patrons were greeted instantly). Our waiter was attentive but then disappeared because everyone was having a staff meeting in the back of the restaurant and forgot about all the customers. The cook told the bartender to draw up the bill, despite us already having the bill in hand. Strange. Im sure that it was all because the restaurant just opened and no matter what it will do well because N. Broadway is a food wasteland.
Great experience. Food was delicious and the manager was very nice (went on an off night and there was barely anyone there). I kept eating until I couldnt anymore; everything I had was great. Havent been back since however its definitely on my list for many return visits!
Had high hopes for this place, instead it was one of the most disappointing meals ever.Service is way off. When we were sat, the server said, Ill be right back with water. He comes back, no water, asks if we wanted to order any drinks. We asked for a bottle of Riesling, theres only one offered on the menu. He said hell get that for us. Comes back and says, Its only offered by the bottle, is that okay? Oh yeah, no waters yet... Someone else takes our order, I ask for waters, he said sure. Original server comes back with pitcher, fills up most of the glasses, runs out of water, said hell be right back with more water. I see him walking towards us and then stops two tables away from us to fill up their waters. He walks by our table THREE TIMES and still no water for two glasses. The food comes out way too fast. Obviously everything is prepped ahead of time and just reheated. I ordered the wood-roasted half chicken and it came out 3-5 minutes after our order was put in. No joke, 2 minutes went by and salads came. Then right after that, my chicken was set down. How can chicken get roasted that fast?!? A pasta came out a minute after the chicken and we were supposed to get steak fries with the chicken parm, but they never showed up. I asked our server about the fries and they took longer to cook up than the chicken did. Yes, the fries were fresher than chicken and pasta, thats kind of weird...Also, the music? If you have to repeat/yell your food/drink orders to servers more than twice, you should probably turn down the music....The food was too salty, yeah, never coming back. Amazing how busy it is, guess theres nowhere to go in the suburbs.
Just moved to Yonkers from Manhattan , and honestly this has become our go to place; even better than many places in NYC! Fresh food, great cocktails and the vibe is always right. This is perfect for date night, birthdays, girls night you name it. You will not leave hungry; The portions are big enough to share. Great staff, clean, and spacious!
Terrible service and the staff have no idea what they are doing along with a useless manager who more concerned with talking to people than running restaurant. Small birthday party (10-15 people) and it took them forever to bring out the pies. 3 people just never got pies almost an hour and 15 minutes later despite asking many times. No apology and the staff virtually didnt care. (They brought the pizzas to different table - literally maybe 5-6 tables occupied in the entire restaurant during this time) Wont be back ever unless i want allocate a large amount of time to get what is a simple personal pie. I ended not even eating as I needed to leave.
The chicken parmigiana was a round processed piece of something they call chicken. The sauce tasted pre made and not fresh. The cappuccino was cold and when I told the waitress she said she brought it to my table as soon as she made it. They need to learn how to make coffee and use the espresso machine.
Ordered food for lunch...the person insisted on charging my card immediately over the phone. I wait 15 min..go pick up and a woman knows exactly who I am says did u order the garlic bread she then tells me they are not open for business due to a fire alarm. Very interesting because i was never called. My card was charged. I couldve saved a trip if they were considerate enough to call me to say my order was never going to be made. This place is always disappointing! They had my number why not just call me? Why was my card charged? They will soon go out of business.
I had the giant chicken parm nugget, my guest had a pizza and we shared a meatball app which wed been told they were known for.Upon coming into the restaurant they tried seating us near the door, but being winter we asked for a table further away and they said sorry, since were only 2 people, that was all they had but looking around at lunch time there was plenty of other seats further away from the doors. Keep in mind, there is NO insulation in this place, its like a giant garage. We chose to sit at the bar instead and then as it got busier, they started seating people where we asked to sit initially! Our meatballs were good, loved the authentic sauce! We waited awhile for our entrees. My guest said he liked the pizza but was left still hungry. I thought the parm was okay but honestly overrated. When I eat chicken parm I want CHICKEN. This was worse texture than McDonalds. It was literally like eating chicken that had been chewed and then mushed together into a patty, not what you want when going for chicken parm.Because our food took so long, the bar tender did comp our app which was nice, without us even complaining which I thought was great initiative on their part, realizing service was slow and addressing it head in before we had the chance to.
For appetizers, we tried the fried mozzarella and and garlic bread, both of which were delicious! I had the grapefruit mocktail which I really enjoyed as well. I ordered the whole wheat cavatelli which was a delicious blend of perfectly cooked pasta, sausage, and a flavorful sauce. The tartufo was an awesome choice was an awesome choice for dessert - a huge scoop of ice cream dipped in chocolate served with whipped cream

Family-friendly, and comfortable. I was impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. The food was delicious! The best, though, was the customer service; they called us the next day to make sure that we had a positive experience, and asked if there was anything they could have done better.
A wonderful, urban restaurant that serves old world favorites with a modern flair. Under the guidance of Christian Petroni, Food Network star, this place is first rate but with reasonable prices. Courteous staff, excellent services and excellent drinks. Ample parking. Not to be missed!
The decor is very midconstruction with plywood for benches and exposed vents and sheet rock. The wait staff are super casual and wear hats, hoodies and overalls. That would be ok if they didnt have high end menu prices. If I am paying 20+ for a personal pizza then I expect a neater more conservatively dressed wait staff. The mushroom pizza is delicious and definitely try their arugula salad.
First time - Last time! 1. If you do not want a blast of cold air hitting you ever time the door opens do not sit lower level where bar is. 2. Appetizer came - less than a minute later pasta entree came . No pepper on table and was never offered fresh pepper. My entree came when my husband was halfway through his dinner! 3. Food was ok but way overpriced for portion size . Disappointed experience!
I usually go to Fortina Armonk, but we have a business in Yonkers, love to shop & eat local plus Im a Fortina fan... I actually popped in super fast to get a gift card for someone which was during lunch time and they were very helpful and fast with everything. Booking our holiday party there and cant wait.
Could not recommend this place enough. The atmosphere was great from the moment we walked in, the food was amazing, but what impressed me the most was the staff. The place was packed, and the awesome staff took it in stride. Amanda, the bartender, was super attentive and made sure we had a great first experience there.
UPD: had to change it to 1 star - down from 3. Finalized transaction on my Amex indicates these geniuses decided to give themselves the tip amount higher than the provided 14% for non-existent service. Good job, boys, well-earned!Great vibe, nice food, unfortunately, subpar service: our server forgot to check back on us all the time, then made us waiting on a check for 15-20 (!) minutes after we requested it, then forgot we kindly requested to split it before ordering food.
Went this past Friday for dinner with another couple, was looking forward to it but WOW how are they still open is beyond me smh. We order our appetizers 31 min later they came back to ask us if we are ready to order. Then we responded yah we order our appertizers which they did not remember we ordered ???? On top of that they panic (manager) said our apologies will get it out right away. Waiter said I put in the appetizers but not sure why it never came out, ?? then we were starving by then we figured we order our dinner. Lol then our entres came out before our appertizers . What a joke the system and service at this place. They offer “free drinks” on house blah blah blah, we don’t want no dam drinks we want our appertizers first then our entres hello??we sent back 2 out of the 4 entres they brought out, to only receive our partial apps that they still didn’t get right smh. Our dinner finally came lol yah right it came out alright, my wife plate was wrong 2 bake zitis never made it and then the other was only carrots what the he’ll is going on in this place ????? where is the owner of this place???? ! I own a business and one bizz tip I’ll give you fortinas get a system in place and follow up and make sure they are all following a SYSTEM!!!! Wow never again , oh btw they forgot our bake zitis in case you didn’t understand and also 3/4 of my boys fiancé plate smh. PS- You are loosing a lot of money on all the comps you must put out. Not good for business.we didn’t want a free bill we wanted FOOD.
Lets review this in sections:Service: our waitress was kind and attentive:Emilie I believe her name was made us right at home. So 5/5Ambiance and Decor: good music selection, open space, but was really loud hard to have a conversation 2/5Food and: ordered the garlic bread and the margarita pizza. How can you have garlic bread with NO GARLIC, not an ounce of it, might as well have called it Cheese Bread for $8.50 no(its like $4 at most pizza places) the pizza too charred, and too much crust I could barely taste the flavor of the pizza and not enough topping to crust 1.5/5Drink: $8-12 a beer??!! Cheapest beer is $6 and there is only 3......as a beer snob(worked with beer at Whole Foods) thats an insult. How can you charge $10 for Yonkers Lager which is LOCAL and your local to yonkers.....I dont get it 1/5Overall: 2.5/5 good service, waitress was good. Food and drink too expensive for the quality. I wont be going back. Applebees 300 feet arcoss the road is a better choice.
The building is nice and the staff is good. The food is not very good and way over priced. As well as the drinks. In no world that we live in should a can of Keystone light cost $6. I can buy a 30 pack for $17. I know they have to profit but come on its Yonkers not hipster Brooklyn. The working class does not appreciate a slap in the face. Try harded to serve the people of the community rather be in Brooklyn or Manhattan.
This restaurant has to be one of the worst restaurants I have ever been the food was disgusting and extremely salty the waitresses didn’t even pay attention to us while we tried to order I had to wait 30 minutes just for a soda .... my pasta was extremely cold and had almost no sauce ... every time I would ask for the waitress they would have a nasty attitude.. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone ever
Food and service are both exceptional in a casual and friendly atmosphere. In an over 100 year old building. If they had a Happy Hour, this could be a place to go to after work on a Friday or other day. Andrea and I split the bibb lettuce salad and the tenderoni pizza. For the tenderoni pizza(tomato, spicy sopressata, mozz, chili oil, honey) we requested the chili oil and honey on the side as I am not a fan of overly spicy food which they did. The salad and pizza were both a little pricey but good. If there was more pizza, it would have justified the price. For dessert, indulge in the brown butter bread pudding. Its a wow!
Absolutely a “little piece of Brooklyn” in the good ole” “Y-O”. Besides the “best eclectic atmosphere in town” it’s by far the most “kick ass venue” to host anything from a wedding to a kid’s first birthday party complete with kids “pizza making party” led by a Christian’s personally trained pizza masters. When Google allows more than 5 stars, I’ll revisit this review LOL...
If i could give negative stars, i would. Just left after spendng 35ms.waiting. Waiting for water, a drink. Anything. Waiter served 2 tables seated after us (we actually made a res); spent 10ms w one of them. Then we politely complained to our hostess, who talked to the waiter and another waitress. They both ignored us for 5 more minutes - and then refilled water ar the next table. We finally had enough and left - into the cold pouring rain. I saw one of the chefs eating with his bare hands next to food beong made on our way out. Owner saw us leaving, said come again, and I let him know we didnt eat. He didnt seem to care. Restaurant was barely half full - i will never go back.
Fortina was a random Yelp find one night when staying at the Marriott across the street, another random whats Yonkers? trial one night. Fortina and Yonkers are now one of my favorite combos. Incredible building, and more so, not only do you get to admire the sights, but the food, drink, cocktails, dessert, service, and everything in between are on point. Now take friends here too, start with a Bada Bing (name says it all), salad, meatballs, pizza, chicken, or anything in between. Something for everyone, and never a bad bite. Sit right at the bar, admire the views, the fast service, and comfy bar stools--live time, great space, and instant service. Check out Fortina anytime in the area!

2022-03-01A true gem found in Yonkers NY. The aroma of fresh bread and a wood fire are an open invitation. We had fries mozzarella sticks and meatball appetizers, followed by chicken parmesan and Paulie’s Pie pizza. The food is outstanding and I highly recommend this place.

2022-01-20Update 1/19/2022:They have stopped selling gluten free crust. The frozen replacement is awful. Compare the two pictures below. Please bring back the old crust.Very delicious food and great service. Best gluten free pizza Ive had in or around the city. The atmosphere and space are wonderful as well. Highly recommended.

2022-01-31I love their pizza selection and ambiance. Lost once star because we were the first customers of the day and the first pizza they brought us was cold, not sure if it was from an earlier sale but definitely didn’t seem right. When we spoke to our server they quickly offered to make us a new, fresh pizza.

2022-05-30We had pizza and wood fire cauliflower. Both were very good. The food took a bit to come out, yet there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. Our server was sweet.

2022-04-21We came here on a Wednesday evening for dinner. The restaurant is very nice and clean, and has great, casual ambience; perfect for a date night or family dinner. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer and the broccoli rabe for starters, the pappardelle bolognese and bucatini with clams for our meal, and the panna cotta for desert.Fried calamari was delicious and crispy, and both of the sauces were a great complement. Broccoli rabe was a little bit skimpy on the portion, but good. Both our mains had perfectly cooked pasta; the bucatini and clams were fresh and light, and the pappardelle bolognese was creamy and hearty. The panna cotta was okay, nothing to write home about.Only complaints were that our table was crooked and didnt sit right, the customer service was acceptable but not great (we also put in our online reservation that we had a birthday/celebration and this was never brought up), and the restaurant was a touch loud although that was mostly just the kids at the table next to us. Overall though, the food was fantastic and it was a very nice night!

2022-06-25When Fortina first opened a few years back in a great space in a newly renovated factory building, there was ambience, energy, great food, and an all-around good time for informal dining. Well, what a difference a few years make! Maybe its the pandemic or staffing issues, but whatever happened, our recent experience there had none of the above. The food was mediocre, the service was terrible, the bathrooms were filthy, the energy was low. And it was expensive. With so much decent restaurant competition nearby, Fortina will have to up its game or it wont be around much longer.

2022-06-08Very nice atmosphere very open and rustic decor. Menu was good. Cute drinks. I got the paccheri, decent taste serving size for price was not worth it though. Gnocchi was also decent. My friends San Andres pizza looked good but she ate it before I could taste it haha. Good experience would return. Pricey for lunch and portions. We had two babies no problems.

2022-02-19After a lunch with friends only one of the plates was good. The margarita pizza is flat, unsavory, with a lot of oil on top.The gnocchi were over cook, weird texture. The person ate 1/3 of the plate. On the other hand: the lasagna is good and the mozzarella sticks are great.Do not recommend.

2022-06-12Went here twice while staying in Yonkers. The chicken parm was amazing and so was the salad. The bolognase was not the best.
