This brewery and restaurant has a fantastic selection of food, their own craft beer, and choice spirits.I was lucky to be able to have a few meals there over this last weekend. Each item I had was excellent. I also had their wonderful beer selection during each meal. The staff is pleasant and welcoming. The management knows their business and products. All give excellent selections and can give guidance to the local area.I love this place and will be back soon. I recommend Fox N Hare to everyone.
Great brewery along a charming main street. Brewer is passionate about brewery and it shines through in the quality of the brews. Food was reasonable prices and delicious. My husband ands burger was a combination with ground brisket and cooked exactly as ordered. I am cautious about ordering veggie burgers out but so glad I took a chance on on them here. One of the most flavorful best tasting veggie burgers Ive had. Very accommodating serving it over lettuce without a bun. We also shared the buffalo brussel sprouts and they were fantastic! We will definitely be back. If you like barrel aged beer definitely try into the night, the barrel aged stout.
We came for a weekend getaway from NJ, and wanted to check out some brewery so we came here. The owners, Sean and DK were very friendly and gave us great recommendations on what to taste. The craft beer was so delicious we ended up taking 2 growler back to our Airbnb. If you enjoy quality craft beer this is definitely a place to check out. We’ll be back soon!
My friend and I were visiting from out of state and stopped here for dinner. We loved EVERYTHING- the atmosphere, the staff, food, and definitely the beer. Our experience was perfect, and as we are making this trip into an annual tradition, we will be making a stop into this brewery a tradition every year as well.
Visiting Port Jervis for a few days. This bar has some of the most kind and attentive employees that I have ever experienced, period. Multiple staff members checked on our party within 5 minutes of each other. It was a genuinely lovely experience, and I really appreciate the atmosphere, selection, but the interaction with the workers most of all. Thank you for letting us feel welcomed and appreciated. You all are an amazing team. Would absolutely visit again. The ciders were great.
We just love this place! DK and his business partner run a very efficient micro brewery and gastropub. Favorite items include the fried chick peas, the farmers platter of ghost pickles, carrots, and cheese spread and bread, the Philly cheese steak sandwich, and the burgers. And the fries are amazing! We still miss the fresh pretzel bites that they served, pre- COVID, but...its all good. The cocktails are inventive, seasonal, and reasonably priced. The wines are also tasty- the red blend is a go to. We always look forward to coming here.
Place is absolutely amazing! Bartenders make amazing drinks and are super knowledgeable. I had the best burger of my life and if you like brussel sprouts then you have reached the mecca. Fried Brussels are amazing and the sleeper, sausage medley is bonkers. Amazing place with amazing service. 5 freaking stars!!!!
Great Food + Beer - stopped in for a quick bite and drink after spending some time at High Point. Service was excellent and prompt, the food came out as ordered and everything was tasty. The chicken sandwich and biscuit / pretzel appetizers were all highlights. Beer flights were reasonably priced with heavy pours and all of the styles were solid (seasonal berry sour and unfiltered NE IPA were highlights). Will definitely visit again!
Great place. We just moved into town and were trying new places. This is the first place weve eaten at. The portions were perfect! No leftovers which I love. We ordered a flight of some of their house brews and then the portobello strips to share. My fave beer was caught in the darkness and the food was awesome. Mushrooms were perfectly cooked and the marinade/sauce was divine. You will be seeing us again!
Great location. Covid friendly sitting. Food is delicious. Never had a problem here. Check FB for their menu updates. Staff is friendly and helpful with dietary needs or changes to food.Brussel Sprout Fries are to die for. Beer and Soda is bottled locally. Free street parking for this location.
Probably the best tasting Burger youll ever have. They mix brisket in it which really enhances the flavor unbelievably. Anyone Ive recommended to this place agrees with me. Also a large variety of Craft Beers made on site for every taste. Ive tried them all and didnt find one that wasnt good. Recommend you reserve a table, because it fills up especially on the weekends.
Just “ok” food. Great servers, beer, and venue but the menu is pretty lacking. I think people overlook it because of the beer/atmosphere. Prices are way high for what you get and with no sides. No options for vegetarians or vegans. Sadness. Minus the over priced grilled cheese or mushroom burger. Many locals feel the same but keep going back due to limited other options and delicious beer. Fingers crossed their menu will change.Edit: the 14/19 is a stretch. You’re including appetizers in that number. I can’t make a meal out of hummus and a pretzel
Went on Valentines day. What a pleasant experience. Attentive staff got to meet the Brew Master Kyle not positive on the name. Great pub food enjoyed the Pamento Cheese Burger. Also had the Brussel sprouts with teriyaki. Brought home three growlers really enjoyed the Stout and Barrel aged Stout as well as the Pilsner. Cant wait to go back.
Really cool place in a small, nothing to do, town. If anything at least you can come here and drink. They have awesome cocktails and the food is super good. I’m not that big on everything like the Brussel sprouts but they tried and I like they offer new things. Service was great and friendly.
Food was unbelievable. The beer cheese and grown up grilled cheese were spectacular. We had the stout and Amber ale. Both were great. Our baby liked their spent grain biscuits and dogs enjoyed their waterService was the best Ive had since moving to New York, probably because we were well outside of the city.
Fun ambiance, food really good, got portobello mushroom caps instead of garlic bun for hamburger. Delicious beers too and wait staff extremely friendly and helpful. The homemade pretzels are very good as are the steak fries. Wished they hadnt run out of the biscuits made in house from the left over grain from the brewery.
One of my favorite breweries the food is out of this world and the drinks are even better. I grew to have a personal favorite of hillside harvest mixed with there boyland bottled cola. Its my all time favorite thing to drink I even go there and grab a growler and a 4 pack of boylands to take home and enjoy. Such a great local place and also has a fantastic atmosphere thank god we have a place like this in town.
Amazing place with great food and beer. I forgot to take pictures because we all at everything. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich, Thai salad side, and buffolo Brussels and it was a perfect amount of spice and flavor. Seriously, this place is a must have for the beer and food.
Great atmosphere. The local and county brews a pretty tasty. The Sly Fox burger was awesome and cooked perfectly. Came here with a buddy yesterday on a motorcycle cruise and enioyed the bartenders coversation, the brews and burgers. Will definitely come again next time we go for a ride.
Very good beer, decent food, adequate atmosphere, the one criticism might be that everybody seems slightly uptight, you have to be seated even if you want to sit at the bar...just seems a little more formal than makes sense...but hey, its their place and they are doing a great job. Usually 2 or 3 IPAs, a couple of dark beers, an experimental batch to try, a lager or two, good beer! Good place to have a drink and a snack.
I adore this spot! They prepare marvelous meals, their menu is varied, The chef in that spot is very trained, I like a lot trying all their dishes. The dishes are consistently of high qualtity, the attitude towards the guests is efficient. I visit often this place and I not even once was disappointed. I highly recommend it.
I was super impressed with this brewery. The beer was delicious, the pouring generous, the staff all friendly and knowledgeable and it was very affordable for the quality. We just found our new favorite brewery to visit when we are in this area. Ty for a wonderful experience!
Gem of the tri-state area. Family friendly atmosphere with not only a great drink menu, but a fantastic lunch/dinner menu. Service is always friendly and prompt, owners always making sure everyone is happy and helping their staff like a team. One of those places you know you’ll always have a great experience. Wish there was an option for more than 5 stars!
Interesting little place that was more than we expected. Very tasty food, try the spent grain biscuits they are very good. Good beers and friendly staff. Very different vibe inside than what I expected but very comfortable. Would totally stop by again. We found plenty of on street parking nearby.
Nice place to eat, even if service was lacking a little.Party of three, seated very quickly on a busy Saturday. Place was loud, but in a white noise sort of way- I had no trouble speaking to my party and hearing the waitress. Seating was good, menu is limited but varied- Dont go here expecting just a basic burger (check their menu online first).Food was delicious, pretzels were clearly made (not reheated frozen). Sly Fox Burger was awesome, and cooked to order properly (other members of the party enjoy food well, well, wellll done). Drinks were good.Negatives: Menu did not really mention items were basically a la carte. Waitress did not either. So, we got burgers that arrived as just burgers, no fries or anything. (Thankfully we got the pretzels to start). While waitress was present often, I made several requests to purchase some merchandise, which were ignored- I had to ask a different waitress once the meal was completed in order to get my Crowler& Growler.Overall: If youre in the area and want something different but awesome, stop by.
Beers here are just ok. Food is described very well on the menu but doesn’t really live up to them. The buffalo Brussels were far and away the best thing that we tried. The poutine didn’t have many cheese curds at all and the few that were in there didn’t taste all that good. The service was prompt and friendly.
Cross contamination. AnaphylaxisLoved the place. I was always there on the weekends. Loved the beers.Happened about one month ago. Had the vegetarian Brussels sprouts and the Thai salad - no chicken.Felt my teeth and gums big time. Then hands severely itchy.Decided after that never to go there again
We did a weekend in the Catskills and took the scenic route through Hawks Nest which put us in Port Jervis. My wife did a quick search and we were 2 blocks from this place. There was plenty of FREE parking right on the street on a Sunday afternoon. You enter on the side that mainly houses the brewery equipment. There is a large bar with many tables on the other side. We were able to grab a couple of stools at the end of the bar. The bartenders were very attentive. We didnt eat but person next to use was having a brussel sprouts dish that looked really good. We started talking with him and it was fried brussel sprouts in a buffalo sauce.I ended up trying pretty much all of their beers except the Pilsner as they were out. They had a semi-sweet cider on tap from a brewery in Warwick, NY. My wife ended up getting that. I had the milk stout as well as having my growler filled with it. All of the beers were flavorful but not over done. My wife joked that we would have to come up for an over nighter so we can come back.
Good things are happening on Front Street in Port J. and the just opened Fox n Hare is definitely part of the action. This is a great place to hang out with friends or go to on a date. Situated in a renovated brick building with a completely open front thanks to the overhead garage doors, this brew pub has great ambiance. Besides serving up their own brews there is a well conceived menu of reimagined pub favorite foods.
The food was very very good the ambience is also really nice however our waitress was very inattentive and screwed a few things up on our bill. Another waitress picked up the slack but at 3 in the afternoon, when it was as slow as it was, we shouldnt have had to wait or chase our waitress down for drinks.
No experience like it in the Orange County, and daringly even, in the Hudson Valley Fox N Hare is a cool stop down river. With an open, transparent, and flowing atmosphere and interior ambiance, the near-bicentenarian building comes to life again in a whole new spirit.Four Brew Crew and counting. Looking forward to entertainment and brunch. Next summer is looking far warmer already.Cheers.🍻
Bravo! Beer and Food are fantastic...as a born local its awesome to see a place like this pop up and bring a great homemade product and very cool space to life...Stay humble and I know a bunch of my friends will support your establishment...Thanks for a great first visit...many more to come! Give this place a try...do a flight and find your favorite brew!
I would give it 5 star ... But, their beef ( hamburger meat) is definitely Not Grass Fed!! So, if your like me and are sedative to toxins that are fed to cows !?!? Then Dont have their Burgers!!!!! On the menu it reads Grass Fed thats a major deception for me !!! If i ever go back will be to buy a burger and take it to a lab and post the results!?!? None proper disclosure is the same as lying!!Otherwise, its a really great thing that happened to port!!!!
This place is honestly the best place around ..Food was great for the most part ...plating needs a little help...potatoes cost less than 5 cents put 6 wedges on a plate and a side of whatever sauce you use for that particular burger when a burger is ordered to fill a plate and give the customer the feel of a complete plate and get the feel that you got what you paid for..more customers would leave happier...Our party had a little of everything ..the one burger was very heavy on the salt ...she substituted the bun with portobello mushroom caps that was nice..cheese platter put 1 more cheese on the platter for that price seemed empty...otherwise this place was great .their beers were great and staff were very friendly..give it a try you wont be disappointed ..

2021-12-03Very consistent every time I eat here, I love the barbecue cheese fries & that they have vegan/vegetarian options. The customer service is always excellent, the bartender with the big beard knows how to communicate/run a business. They have some cool art for sale on display right now & also have merchandise for sale in the other room, def gotta check that out if you go. Chill vibes good eats!

2022-03-15Awesome venue. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. It was a Friday evening and there were about 15 of us. They had no problem putting together tables so all of us could fit (didn’t even really need to wait that long). We were constantly checked in on, being asked if we needed more drinks or anything else. On top of that, the food was great (they have GF and vegan options which is always a plus). Super affordable and such a great atmosphere. Very family friendly, too. Definitely would come here again as we had a great experience!

2022-05-27Admittedly, I don’t drink a lot of beer but the few I’ve had from here were pretty good. Love the idea of refillable growlers to reduce waste. We mostly order take out and we love the vegetarian/vegan options. Staff is always friendly and pleasant.

2022-02-11This place is amazing- my wife and I live in Forestburgh and go here a few times a month to get lunch and a beer on the weekend. The staff is top notch, beer is great, and the food is unique for a brewery. Highly recommend the farmers platter.

2020-11-01The beer is pretty spot on. I really enjoyed several of the beers I tried. The food was really great also. My wife is a vegetarian and the had interesting fun stuff for her also. We got a buffalo fry bowl and a couple of flights. The location was very chill and our bartender was excellent. All in all a great experience.

2022-06-27Their beers are pretty good but the food is awful. Over salted and they fry all of their vegetables. My fries were so salty they were crunchy with salt. The bottom of my bowl of Brussels sprouts had about a half inch of oil.

2022-05-02An excellent little microbrewery/bar/restaurant. Clean, spacious, and with good decor, it was a very relaxing visit, and they have pretty good merchandise, too. Definitely worth a stop if youre visiting Port Jervis.

2020-11-14Gluten-free fries and buns!!! The owners, DK and Shawn, created a super cool establishment, and made it gluten and vegan friendly! They only fry raw potatoes and Brussels sprouts in it, so you can eat those items if you follow those dietary. Both owners were very friendly and helpful, and our food was delicious! Thank you for the gluten-free items!!
