If there was an option to choose 0 stars, I would do so. I recently went to the French Sole boutique and outlet for the first time. Before I bought several pairs of shoes, I asked the manager what the return policy was and she said that I could return them within 2 weeks. She did not specify that by return she meant exchange or store credit only - omitting this crucial detail. I tried wearing the shoes at home for several hours and they were very uncomfortable - so the next day I went back to the store to return them, and then I was told I could not get my money back. I called the corporate number, the same woman answered and again refused, as did her manager. She admitted that she did not specify that I could not get my money back and apologized but refused to issue the refund. You might expect this kind of poor customer service from a Dollar Store or Big Lots, but not from a high-end boutique owned by Nikki Hilton. This is just one more reason why chains like Zappos are replacing brick and mortar shops - at least they are honest about their policies, let you try on shoes at home, and make it easy to return them (for a refund). Its surprising and disappointing that French Soles is this stingy and dishonest with its customers who are paying $200+ for a pair of shoes that arent even comfortable. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. In this case, you get far less than what you pay for. Sadly, this striking disconnect will likely end in the closure of their two remaining stores.

They had great options for my rather hard-to-fit feet and Vicky was very helpful!

Customer service was a complete joke. Literally thought I was being punked when I called about my recent order, extremely rude and unprofessional. Do NOT order online unless you are certain about sizing. While their website does clearly state a 30 day return window, it does NOT state that if you exchange an item and it still doesnt fit...that return must be received within 30 days of the ORIGINAL purchase date. Impossible timeline for me to meet when they delayed sending a return shipping label and finally mailed my exchange 10 days after my return arrived at their store.

I love this brand since their shoes are very comfy. I made my way out to the store today and got very very very disappointed. The staff here didnt bother to say another word besides hello, and they were just talking to each other the entire time like I was not there. Besides the store doesnt have a lot of the style that they have online. DONT WASTE UR TIME TO COME TO THE STORE.

Worst costumer service, they lied to me on the phone and won’t honor what they said! Avoid at all cost!

For many years the store has been on my regular walks around my neighborhood , and to/from my office. It is rare that I stop in and do not leave with at least one pair of shoes. The fabulous ballet flats and loafers are a corner stone of my wardrobe.

Such a wonderful shoe store on beautiful Lexington Avenue -that has it all and amazing service. Beautiful style - classic french shoes of all kind (and so very comfortable).

I walked into the store today for the very first time, excited because I saw a couple of things in the window, I had no idea they were closed because the door was open. All the associate were gathered around the cast wrap talking, I wasnt greeted and the only acknowledgement I did receive, was when one associate make a rude comment about the fact that I walked in and the store was closed so I left. To me, its all about customer service be it old or new customer. Also, no customer should be treated like a nuisance with customers you have no business - that was my first and last encounter with the company. The staff was very unprofessional and needs proper training.

So disappointed in this company. I excitedly ordered a pair of shoes from them, and was so excited to get them in the mail. I ordered my normal size according to the fit instructions on French Soles site, but they were tight. I wore them around my house for the day to see if I could break them in - maybe they were just new, I thought. The next day it appeared that, nope, they were definitely a size too small. One day after they were delivered, I meticulously repackaged them in all the original packaging to send them back for an exchange per the companys policy. I had to pay an expensive FedEx shipping fee out-of-pocket because the company doesnt offer free returns and exchanges.French Sole then REFUSED to exchange them and basically told me, too bad they dont fit, were sending the too-small shoes back to you. Apparently, the wear and tear from me walking from my home office to my kitchen to get coffee for two hours the day I received them meant too much wear and they refused the exchange. Im now stuck with a $160 pair of shoes a size too small, and out $15 from the cost of shipping them back to the company only to have them returned to me.Im so disappointed that a supposedly luxury company would treat a customer this way. Every other luxury retailer Ive worked with or shopped with would write off the shoes in their inventory and send a pair that fits to the customer - not make them pay for the return shipping, then say Too bad and send them back the same expensive shoes that dont fit. I was excited to buy more cute shoes from this company, but Ill never, ever shop with them again. After researching the company, I found so many reviews on Yelp and Zappos that the shoes run too small and people were unhappy with them, and also that French Sole pulled the same refusing-an-exchange trick with other people, too. Buyers, beware!EDITED SEPTEMBER 19: This company is now threatening me with legal action for writing a negative review of their product online. I received the original shoes back today and inspected them again for the deep, etched gauges and a completely worn out sole. Yes, there is wear - see attached photo - but this is from walking around the hardwood floors of my house for two hours to see if the shoes needed to be broken in or were just too small, not from running on concrete as they so condescendingly accused me of doing. Perhaps the shoes themselves should be better made to ensure that a few hours of around-the-house wear doesnt cause immediate wear and tear on the soles on the first day of use?It seems from many of the online reviews Ive found of this company (wonder if they threatened to sue those people, as well?), theyll find any reason to refuse your return or exchange.ALSO - if you read the fine print of their exchange policy, they charge you $12 shipping and a 15% restocking fee.
