Cute, small place, but what it lacks in size, Adrian more than makes up for with hospitality! Drinks are delicious, food is always fresh and and you always feel like you are eating at a friends place.Even if this place is off the beaten track for you, JUST GO! You won’t regret it!
I had the best time at Frescos Cantina yesterday. I celebrated my birthday at the restaurants weekly drag brunch, and it was such a blast! The food is very tasty (I had the breakfast burrito and a chocolate volcano cake as my birthday dessert), and the alcohol is plentiful. They have a $35 brunch special that includes an entree of your choice and a full carafe of either sangria or mimosa (yes, a full carafe per person!). Be prepared to make a day of it, as the drag show takes about three hours in total. The drag queens, Gina Tonic and Golden Delicious, are hilarious and talented, and they made sure everyone was having a great time. I highly recommend this place for a Sunday Funday like no other!
Omg the drag brunch here is beyond amazing. One of, if not, the top drag brunch in the city. Make sure you make reservations in advance and bring all the money you will spend it on the queens & great staff. The drinks were delicious and the food was good. The staff and owners are so attractive & sweet. I cant wait until I can come back.
Pretty cool spot near Astoria... Mexican and Dominican fusion... I really enjoyed the frozen coconut margarita along with the fish tacos. I did try the delicious pastelon tacos as well. I recommend both types. The service was very attentive and friendly. Ill definitely be returning for some more drinks and food!
This is one of the best Mexican restaurants not only in queens but in the five boroughs. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting or just passing by. The margaritas were absolutely amazing & the food is not only authentic but reasonably priced but amazingly delicious. If you are in queens and don’t stop here you’re missing out !
I found this cozy place through TikTok. My boyfriend and I LOVE exploring new taco places and when I saw @5boroughfoodies featured their chicken parm tacos we were sold! We decided to go on Sunday during brunch. Happened to walk in and get seated. Now we were lucky to be seated because you definitely need reservations. They recommend you make reservations at least a week in advance for groups of 2 or more people. We had no idea there was also going to be a drag show!! Chismosas with Mimosas aka Hibiscus & Catrina Lovelace were hilarious and super talented!! Food was delicious. Drinks were on point. Adrian and his staff were super sweet & attentive. Will definitely be returning!
I love the look of this place. Its a very compact space but doesnt feel tight. The staff is friendly and professional. Good music on.My only negative comment is the price. I paid nearly $20 for a burger and fries. Mine you, they were good, but in my opinion, not worth that much. However, if you come to this place, its apparent that they are not serving the lowest price services. Plus, is a bar. So dont let this disappoint you. Come with the right expectations.Overall, cool place. Would recommend to anyone!
A first for me! Went to the My Favorite Murder Drag brunch today, and had such a great time! The food was very good, and I loved the sangria. The best part was the wonderful show from Gloria Swansong and Ms. Golden Delicious. Worth the trip for certain. Go and have a great time.
Our favorite Mexican restaurant in Astoria!! The food is fantastic, they have the sweetest staff and the decor is on point! As if they couldnt get any better, we found out they do a Drag Brunch!!Definitely the best brunch deal in Astoria and what a show they put on! You get your own personal craft of Sangria or Mimosa, an appetizer and a meal while the Queens keep you entertained the entire time!It was so much fun and cant wait to go back!
A true neighborhood gem run. Went here for Drag Race and also Drag Brunch (for my birthday) and everything was absolutely perfect. The drinks were strong and delicious (and not too sugary), I got the Sangria. The food was absolutely delicious, I dont remember the name of it, but it was a steak/fries bowl dish thing. The staff was excellent and so friendly. The entire vibe of the place is wonderful and the owner has been there both times Ive gone. Lets not forget the AMAZING DRAG QUEENS that put perhaps the best drag brunch show Ive ever seen!
What a great spot Im so happy this place opened since theyve been open theyve had a steady crowd. Fresh food and homemade chips and salsa. They have an amazing happy hour you cant pass up from 3 to 8. I mean its unbelievable. Next week they are revealing the entire menu that will be an event for sure. This is a perfect date spot because its tacos, margaritas, and chips and salsa perfect amount of food and drink for a great price.
An awesome blend of influences from Tex-Mex to Cuban to South American and everywhere in between. The Pastelon taco (ground beef, plantain, special sauce) is one of the most comforting foods that Ive ever had. Hands down one of the best taco places in the city. Their drink selection is EXTENSIVE as well, and Ive never had something from here I didnt wish I had more of after eating it.
The margaritas alone should be a reason to stop in here, a bunch of different flavors each one made well. The tacos here are amazing, each type of taco is well made, well seasoned and brought to you by the friendliest people in the world. The wait staff and bartenders make you feel at home, while also creating a beautiful environment
Make a reservation in advance for you and your friends because youre going to have the absolute best time for Sunday brunch! The quesadillas are soooo goooooooddd and the food overall is amazing! A pitcher full of booze and a fantastic show makes for a ridiculously good time so dont miss it!
The food was tasty, I really enjoyed the tacos and empanadas! The young man Andre I believe his name was who served us was very kind and helpful. Some of the sizes of portions for the price were a bit heftier then I would expect for this area. While it is in Queens and I believe technically Long Island City unsure if it warranted the price tag. I would come back for the food but not add the apps and drinks so the bill wasnt so much.
Even better than my review- do you like Tacos? Do you like Tequila? Do like...Trivia? Im the Quiz hostess with the mostest hosting Geeks Who Drink pub quiz at Frescos Cantina Every Tuesday at 7pm. Giving away prizes to the smartest teams with live hosted trivia.Oh and did I mention strong drinks ($7 Tuesday Margaritas and $4 Tacos)? Yeah, even better.
Our experience at Frescos Cantina was pretty bad. We were seated quickly enough for a party of 5, but it took an long time to even give our drink orders and get our waters (Im someone who has worked in restaurants before, so Im more understanding of service issues typically than most, but the place was almost empty and our server kept talking with friends at a table). Then our food order took almost 70 minutes to be served, and 2 peoples orders were missing, so theirs took another 20. One of the shrimp tacos had one single small shrimp in it, and most of the portions seemed very small for the price. To make up for the missing food, they gave a comped drink to one friend, and it had a fly in it, so they didnt drink it. They replaced it when we pointed it out. Luckily they took a few items off the bill for the mix up, but I wont be going back. Some of the food was tasty, so Ill still give it 2 out of 5.
We used to love going to this restaurant as it is so close to our home, but this past Saturday it took over 2 hours for an order to be delivered. The manager couldnt have been ruder when I finally (3 days later) got him on the phone to rectify the issue. Poor customer service not worth dealing with for just-fine mexican food.
I almost never do five stars on a first visit, but I could see this place getting five after a few visits. I tried the acquits gorda, pastelon, and Phuket tacos. The menu is interesting, both with respect to tacos and drinks, and in a good way. The tacos I tried were all very good. The shrimp in the Phuket were tiny, which wasn’t what I expected, and that one was less flavorful than I expected based on the menu—I could pass on that to try some others on another visit. They bring out chips and salsa when you sit down, which is not so common any more, and is a nice touch. The chips have and herb on them, probably cilantro, although didn’t taste it specifically after loading up the chips with salsa.Friendly and prompt service. I imagine they fill up on evenings, by mid-afternoon when they open is easy.I wish secret sauce could, for once, mean something other than thousand island. Unfortunately, his isnt the spot for that. I dont do mayo, but I decided to roll he dice here. It looks like water thousand island. On the upside, their salsa and hot sauces are very good. The hot sauces come in unlabeled boxes and might be housemade.Reasonable prices, although they make sense for the area. $4-$5 per taco, about $10 for drinks. Three tacos or so is plenty for a lighter meal, so youre probably looking at at least $30 per person. They have guest WiFi, which is a nice bonus--ask for the password.
We placed an order at 8:15PM to be delivered (hours listed say they are open until 11PM) a half hour later our order was cancelled (we weren’t notified) and when we tried to check the status online at 9PM (when it was scheduled for delivery), it let us know that it had been cancelled at 8:30. We called to find out why and why we had not been notified, and the woman on the phone was extremely rude. She said they closed at 8 — we tried to let her know that their hours were mislisted and she further gave us an attitude. This seems to be pretty normal service based on their other poor reviews. I wouldn’t order from here.

2022-04-25Amazing, cozy spot with delicious food. My cousin and I dined in and had yummy frozen margaritas that were perfection. We ordered the nachos, taquitos and Pollo roblado tacos and literally everything was mouthwatering. Our server was extremely attentive as well. It was a terrific experience!

2021-07-20Came here for drag brunch and it was a fun show!Food was good for the most part. The cantina nachos were the bomb. I had the shrimp tacos but I wasn’t very happy with those, not enough flavor or texture for me personally. Everyone in the group seemed happy with their food. The drinks were so yummy! They have different flavored mojitos like dragonfruit which seemed to be a popular choice. I highly recommend you get the Grande especially if you’re there for drag brunch, I ordered the regular size and went through it quickly, upgraded to the Grande after.

2022-07-17I have to say, their burger is the best. The meat is always cooked to the right temperature & it has a nice open fire/smoky flavor. Anytime I want a burger, I order it here. I am sure other dishes are similarly great 👍🔥 highly recommend!

2022-04-18Suprized i walked past this place for yearssssss. Always wanted to go, do glad that i did. Its a cute cozy spot right in the neighborhood. With the nyc backdrop you think you went far to dine.. NOT! :) Great place to go to get out of the cold. The restaurant is tucked away in a cute corner nook, but spacious and cozy. You WILL enjoy it!

2022-05-23A hidden gem of a resto in Astoria. From the outside it looked like a local bar until my friend took me and I liked the antique decor of the place . The food was surprisingly good. Second time around, I took my husband to try their fish taco but I ordered the shrimp taco by mistake . For someone who does not eat much shrimp, I actually enjoyed it . My husband and I also shared surf and turf tacos which was simple but was just as tasty.Their churros had a nice chocolate surprise inside and their tres leches had a hint of peach but not too sweet at all.Ive been back to this place several times and definitely enjoy it each time.Their fish taco def is great. The ropa vieja and salmon are just good.

2019-05-21We had a great time at Frescos Cantina. It was our first time, 2 adults, a 12yr and 6yr old. Street parking was quick and easy. The latin music playing was great as was the decor. Our server Adrian was outstanding!!!!! He knew the menu well and gave recommendations for the kids and adults which we appreciated and glad we accepted. Adrian was also kid friendly which was a huge us for me. The manager was also present and checked on us which was nice. The food was great....everyone loved their meals which were tacos, fajitas, burgers, and the Peruvian fried rice. All of it was gone 🙂. We also ordered 2 cocktails which were approved by my non drinking partner....the Moscow mule and coconut mojito...yum yum. Everything was great here and I cant wait to return. Also the place is super cute and chill and definitely nice for a big group too.

2019-05-10Very nice place with great atmosphere, very tasty food and drinks and the most pleasant and attentive staff. Only the desserts do not recommend them since they are very basic and the cake of three milks was not at all fresh.
