Good food, good price. I don’t know if my friend and looked like we needed a job, but after we paid for our meal and was heading out, an older gentleman who was working there (not sure if he was the owner or something) told us “we have a job opening in the kitchen...washing dishes.” My friend and I awkwardly laughed and proceeded to walk out.Because folks on this side of NY seem to be awkwardly unwelcoming to some of us, I have a hard time telling when they’re trying to be funny or throwing insult at you. Maybe he was trying to be funny, who knows.Either way, if you’re looking for a job washing dishes, definitely check them them out.
Great little place off the beaten path. The cook was hilarious, but the waitress didnt come for ever and then came back once to refill coffee and then never saw her again. Cook had to bring us forks and napkins. They were busy, but not out the door busy, there were other seats at the bar. Hashbrowns were under cooked, next time Ill ask for them a little crispy.
I tried to go yesterday for breakfast at 7:20am. By 8:10, I’d only had coffee. The cook talked soooo much but didn’t take any orders —except 3 women he knew by name. It was rude as hell that he skipped everyone else waiting and gave menus and food to 3 women who came in at 7:50. If the coffee had been strong, I’d have waited around to tell him off. But the coffee was watery so I couldn’t justify waiting around for no service AND no caffeine. I put $2 on counter and left. Over half hour no food. No menu.
Amazing, quaint tiny restaurant. I got an egg, cheese and bacon bagel and hash brows (shredded and fresh) and my boyfriend got the stuffed french toast, 4 slices of homemade bread turned french toast, stuffed sandwich style with cheese and choice of meat (he got ham). Both our meals were amazing. Staff was kind. You can see the chef cooking and they follow COVID-19 cleaning protocol incredibly well. Coffee was weak, but all diners have that. Will 100% be returning!
Ready for a real slice of northern new york with a side of hot, crispy hash browns? My favorite part about this place, besides the great, friendly staff, is the fact that my coffee mug is never empty. A small thing to some, but Friedes could serve me fried dirt and I wouldnt mind until I saw the bottom of my mug.The menu features good, simple comfort food, although Ive never ordered much besides the breakfast (what more could you ask for?), but its been explained to me that their meatloaf is amazing.Their kitchen and flattop is clean. Their staff is wonderful, and their prices are downright honest and fair. The corned beef hash is crispy, and the customers are the realest northern new yorkers youll ever encounter. What are you waiting for?
My family and I wanted to love this place so badly but due to HAIR IN OUR FOOD, we are unable to.Towards the end of our meal, my husband found 2 small hairs in his food, that clearly belonged to the cook, who was not wearing a hair net. I found only one hair in my mostly eaten eggs (that I had shared with our son). When the cook came by the table and asked how our food was, my husband informed him that we found hair in our food. The man said Did ya? Looked at the food and the hair and walked away.We were unable to further confront the man about the issue as my husband has recognized severe anger issues and did not want to cause a scene. We will be reporting this to the health department. But as the system does not always work, people need to be informed and cautious.
Ate here today 14-Oct:Ordered country fried steak and eggs and wife ordered cheese and mushroom omelette. We both asked for our potatoes/toast to be subbed for cottage cheese. A request that in every other diner ever in life is always an even substitution. Omelette arrived without mushrooms and so I let the waitress know and she said we didnt ask for a mushroom and cheese omelette. Okay I know we did but whatever, why not pan fry up some mushrooms real quick and just modify the order for us? Win-win right? This diner charged 2.29 each plate for the cottage cheese (thats about 30% of the omelletes price). Bill came to about $22 and I ended up tipping the difference (paid $30) Overall, I would advise trying a different diner in the area.
Waitress outside cakling like a witch, she and the cook smoking cigs, then returned to serve and cooking without washing hands.Moes customers deserve more respect than this.Moes the best, Her hired help needs to step it up live up to Moes well deserved excellent reputation!
If you love little hole in the wall places with outstanding food then Friedes is the place. Its small and you probably dont want to look too close at the floor, but the cooking area was clean and everything in the refrigerator was covered, properly dated and in correct order. You can feel safe about eating the food.I had the biscuits and gravey with eggs toast and hashbrows. It was some of the best biscuits and gravey I have had and I am very picky about my biscuits and gravey. The eggs were cooked perfectly and so were the potatoes. My wife had eggs toast and potatoes and hers was just as good. We had eaten at a flashier 50s style diner by 81 the day before and Friedas food blew it away.

2022-02-13Delicious! An old fashioned breakfast diner with the usual classics. Not a fancy place but affordable and tasty. We got a breakfast burrito with hash browns, a breakfast sandwich with home fries, two coffees and an orange juice and it came to about $24 altogether. Our server was friendly and it wasnt too busy to walk right in and grab a table around noon on a Sunday. Would definitely go again when Im in the area!

2022-06-20We visited Watertown, NY for a memorial service for my father-in-law. We decided to stay a couple of days extra and found this little gem tucked away. Wow, wow, wow! Really amazing breakfast with freshly baked bread. Biscuits and gravy was a hit and hands down the most delicious pancakes!! This two man show was non-stop as they catered to their guests and worked the grill simultaneously. Nice portions and even better priced. My only regret was not finding it sooner. Thank you for the delicious eats.

2022-08-12I was very surprised how busy this tiny restaurant was! We got the last available booth, and there were maybe three empty stools at the counter. This is obviously a favorite with the locals (mostly older folks). I ordered an omelette with ham, cheese and mushrooms. Im not sure what kind of cheese they used. I was expecting cheddar, but it was a kind of mild white cheese. Very pleasant on the palate! It came with toast, which was a little too crispyfor my liking. My dining partner ordered French toast with a side of eggsand sausage patties. The French toast was thick, obviously made with homemade bread, and dusted with powdered sugar. Everything was so good, resonably priced and service was super friendly.

2022-07-11Stopped here on the way to a concert in Syracuse. Good food, nice service, reasonable prices. Three stars because the coffee was *not* good. Like brown crayon dipped in hot water flavor. What a pity it was watery and weak. Surely someone (a local ?) must have said something to them by now about it ! So if you go, have the food but steer clear of the java and its a great little spot. Id definitely go again and/or recommend to friends - just skip the coffee.

2022-08-29We only had time to go for breakfast. This is a dream diner. It’s as no frills as you can get. The food is simple and tasty. The home fries greet you before you enter the building with their delicious aroma. If I lived near here I’d be a regular.

2022-06-24Nice little place off the beaten path. The owner and her cook were very friendly. I have been looking for a local restaurant in Watertown where I could stop for lunch now that my other place I used to go to closed, I think I found the spot. Will definitely be back!

2022-08-25Nice breakfast kids enjoyed their hashbrowns. Seems more of a locals restaurant. My eggs were a little undercooked and coffee was just ok.
