I’m Just Saying review. The food was tasty and my children loved the fluffy pancakes. Breakfast potatoes and bacon were on point as well. Special stars go to the chicken and waffles plate pictured below.I gave 4 out of 5 as it was quite cozy.Service checks [email protected]@ijsluve
Free breakfast courtesy of staying at Hotel Edison. The experience was sadly average in terms of customer service, and portion size. For example, I was provided dirty utensils and drink-ware with no compensation. Can only recommend the French toast because the compote is delicious.
Late lunch on a Wednesday when it wasnt too busy. Friendly and helpful staff, really quick service. We split a delicious lox, cream cheese and bagel platter - $23 and worth it. Far better lox and bagel than we can get at home. So much extra lox that we took half home with us.
So I hate dinner with a show. It’s always felt amateurish, and more importantly meant that the food would inevitably suck. This place was different. The talent they’ve accrued among their waitstaff could rival almost any lineup on Broadway. Our waiter in particular was incredible. His name is Quinton, and if you go, request him. Not only is he a gifted performer, he was also attentive, and great with the banter. He kept our teenage girls laughing all night, and even developed an inside joke with them. The food was killer, the drinks were too. If you need dinner before a show, come here, and you’ll end up getting both. We’ll definitely be back, maybe even tomorrow. Thanks Quinton!
The best part of the meal was when they took the chicken and waffle off my bill. Driest chicken I’ve ever had combined with zero flavor. Manager refused to talk to us about the quality. Do not recommend this place. Wait staff was understaffed and overwhelmed. It took nearly an hour for breakfast with 1 item. Just paying our bill took 25minutes.
My family and I only went to Friedmans due to Gayles Broadway Rose (we wouldnt have gone otherwise), and found the experience incredible. For those who dont know, Friedmans on certain nights reserves part of its space to allow for a singing waiters and waitresses experience, a bit like Stardust Diner, but far superior IMO. Not only was the entertainment incredible (a huge draw for Broadway fans), but the food was terrific too - well definitely be back, not just for the singing, but for Friedmans itself as well. I hope that Friedmans keeps this collaboration going, as its bringing in new customers (I myself saw a bridal shower celebration, and a birthday party, just in the time that we were there). Go for the food, and if you can, catch a show at the same time for free :)
Remarkable service, great food and solid location.A special thank you note to the staff on shift around noon on 6/30. We visited for breakfast after having gone through a pick-pocket incident at nearby tkts booth and we were a bit shocked. We let our waitress know and she was remarkably supportive. I had to take long calls w insurance, etc while we were half ordering. She was friendly, gave us extra time, had recos on what to order for us to calm down. Excellent service! My food review does not have depth as we were still dealing w the issue. French toast was very well prepared, coffee cup was constantly filled, pancakes were very tasty. But again, big thank you for our waitress for giving us time and support to deal with our issue. Sorry that I did not register her name, but we will be back soon!
Nice atmosphere, pleasant wait staff. Food is good but not remarkable. You would think they would offer omelets in the morning and afternoon hours but they do not. Most of it is a bit greasy but there are salad options if youre looking to go lean.Reliable but not extraordinary.
Such good food!! I actually went back twice during my trip (once for dinner and once for breakfast). They immediately asked if we had any food allergies (I am allergic to gluten) which was incredible! When the food came out I even had a little toothpick that said gluten free which was great. Service was a little slow the first time a went, but the staff was so incredible and they were also singing in between serving us!
DO NOT MISS the Gayles Broadway Rose SINGERS at night! This was the highlight of our recent New York trip. The singers were superb and such wonderful entertainment while eating dinner. Prices are norm for NY and food service could have used some timing adjustments but it was all in all quite enjoyable and very entertaining. We will come for a longer time next time and stay and enjoy all the entertainment again soon.
We went there at 11:30am on a spring Saturday morning, right in the middle of a busy brunch period. It took around 10 minutes to get our table and it was well worth the wait. The menu at this location was simpler than their other locations but it was still full of fantastic items. My daughters pancakes were slightly undercooked but my shaksouka was excellent. This Friedmans is right in the middle of Broadway and 47th, a super convenient location. This is definitely my favourite location.
We went for breakfast on the 4th of March,2022. There were a variety of options for the gluten-free menu, and we ordered gluten-free avocado toast and blueberry pancake. The bread of avocado toast was crumbling and unsalted, not well seasoned. The pancake was fluffy but tasteless, like a diet, low sugar dough. Service was decent. The environment was clean, and very comfortable, with a high and well-decorated ceiling. Overall, the food was ok, but a little overpriced.
This was our first visit to this location at the Edison and we were very disappointed by the small breakfast portions and the extortionate prices charged for them. We used to go to the Friedman’s Herald Sq location a lot before COVID and the breakfast portions were much bigger and with excellent sourdough bread, so we felt very let down here.
We came to have a brunch 3 years ago and it was amazing and worth the price, and this time we were disappointed by the quality.A brunch for 4 people for 180$ you expect it to be worth it… For example, I ordered a “fresh squeezed orange juice” expecting a fresh juice but instead I saw our waiter pour me a glass of Tropicana juice.
Food pretty good nice setting. Wait wasn’t too long. I ordered the nova benny, which is basically eggs Benedict. Hollandaise sauce was very thick like Mayo. Egg was cooked ok it was only a little runny but the food was very tasty. The potato at the bottom was definitely over cooked. Server was pretty bad after we got our food. Not sure is she was too busy but my friend ordered the tuna melt and never got the chips with it.Follow me on Instagram: Cocoa_bunny21
We ate here twice for brunch and had the gluten free chicken & waffles, the pastrami hash, pancakes and breakfast platter. It was a great experience to be able to eat these things even though Im celiac, but taste wise it wasnt the best unfortunately - it was mostly ok!
I’m not a fan of Times Square, but we had to visit some friends here. We stopped to eat brunch.Food - it was very good brunch. And they had a good selection.Prices - normal for NYC.Space - lots of room. We had a party of ten and they had room for us with very little wait.Staff - very friendly. Like I said, we had ten in our party. Usually, we get eye rolls. These guys were awesome.
I was pleased with my avocado toast and eggs; the coffee was delicious. I was a little disappointed that the menu I saw online with the Reuben made with tempeh was not available at that location and tbh there were very few vegan options. Granted, I should have done more research, but if youre looking for vegan, the Edison location is not for you. Oh and it is LOUD if you go for brunch.
Good place for breakfast and brunch. The inside is clean and the staff was attentive.Oatmeal with fresh berries - I wanted something healthy. Well made. I enjoyed the sweet syrup drizzles on top of the oatmeal and berries.Lox and bagel - This item doesnt appear on the West Coast menus much. It was good.Breakfast bowl with quinoa and egg - Healthy but not particularly tasty. Would not get it again.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I came on Friday 6/24 @ around 2 (brunch time) & was served . Absolutely did not like my food at all, was very dissatisfied & the food was just overall not good .. even the water tasted funny by the way they charge for water smh . I barely took a bite out of everything & let them know I did not want the meal & the rude waiter simply told me there was nothing he could do about it . I’m sorry I’m the customer there’s always something u can do smh. I was charged the whole amount for that meal even though I did not like it & I let them know that . 2 days later they took $10 more extra dollars from my card without my permission. I never gave them a tip because it wasn’t deserved . So they made an unauthorized payment to my card of $10 more dollars two days later .. this is just unacceptable. So I called them to get my money back & figure out why my card was charged & I never left a tip I wrote NO TIP at that. I asked to speak to the manager & spoke two different people both times I called . The first one said they would give me back a call within a hour because they were busy with brunch & the second one told me 4 hours the audacity right ? Here I am the next day & haven’t received one call yet .. this is just unacceptable they took my name AND number down & basically stole $10 extra dollars from me gave them selves a tip basically when their service AND FOOD was TRASH & waiter was rude . I will NEVER be back ever again DONT GO HERE !! They will steal you’re money .
Dined here with my family in April 2018 and had a really good time. We went for brunch, very busy and was able to get a table within 15 minutes. Staff were professional and helpful. The waiter reminded me of ‘Erik’ from ‘True Blood’ but he was very helpful and wonderful with providing service to us. The food was great and worked well for my kiddos (at that time 11, 4, & 1). My husband had his first experience with chicken and waffles, which he enjoyed very much.Pro: The food is very tasty. Service is great.Con: It can get busy and wait time can be a challenge, but it is worth the wait.Overall Experience: Create memories with loved ones while you’re there. 😊
Loved this spot, great menu selection including gluten free comfort food. We enjoyed a cappuccino, the fried chicken & waffles with habanero honey, and the Nova Benny with poached eggs, smoked salmon, on potato pancakes. I just loved it!! Reminded me of home:) The Reuben was also fantastic :)
Without a doubt, the worst breakfast I have ever eaten; which includes breakfast in bed from my 4 and 6 year old children. And overpriced for what you get too. But Im not Manhattaned cultured. Where I come from hashbrowns are not a sli ghtly fried bland potato; and one shiveled up cold piece of cardboard is considered toast.
Extremely convenient when staying at the Hotel Edison, especially when it was minus 18 the morning we were there!A good choice from the menu but prices did seem a little steep. The waiting staff were pleasant enough although didnt interact much, even with it not being busy.We ordered Buttermilk Waffles $17 with a side of smoked bacon $7, Eggs with style $18, Avocado Toast $17, orange juice $8 and coffee $5.For $5 a cup, we thought the coffee would have included a refill.Everything was delicious and well presented.A bill of $112.14 was, we thought, an expensive breakfast. The diner is definitely convenient and the food is good, but having walked 2 minutes down the street the following morning to a cafe serving pretty much the same for a third of the price, I doubt well use Friedmans again.
Absolutely love this place. Classy, modern atmosphere with friendly and fun wait staff. Almost all of the menu is gluten-free, but its almost an after thought as the priority is the quality of the food. So anybody can eat here, dietary restrictions or not. Everything Ive had is excellent. Try the veggie potsickers and the zucchini bread. The best Ive ever had! Cant wait to go back.
We stopped into Friedmans for an afternoon snack. My wife is Gluten free and we heard some great things about it. All true and worth the visitWe shared a few starters and it was just perfect.Avocado Mash with tostones and pickled pepper. I would have to say the Tostones dipped in avocado were actually amazing. Just the right amount of crunch on the tostone and the avocado mash was just the right smoothness to dip. Great combo!!We also had the Vegetable Potstickers. something you dont see much of as gluten free is concerned. So they we a pleasant surprise of goodness. They do tail off with a kick of spice in the sriracha aioli, but nothing bad even for some lightweight spice people.Great for Gluten free options! highly recommend. Wish we were just a bit more hungry to try other items.hope to be back some day again in the future. just visiting from Nashville TN.
Excellent service and atmosphere. A tad loud perhaps. Stand outs: THE SERVICE, the Reuben, The blintzes. Discounted if staying at the Edison. Coffee was fresh and delicious, quickly served. I don’t have anything bad to say about this place. I am always extremely grateful for a kind serving staff in this busy city.
Amazing bar staff. We stay in the hotel and have a drink in the bar every evening as the staff was so nice we didnt need to go to another bar. We have breakfast every morning and we order something different every day and must say everything was great. Service was amazing and very friendly. We love there.
This is our second Friedmans experience at two different locations over the past two summers. This place will not disappoint! The staff is great, and the food was amazing! We had the NOVA BENNY (poached eggs, potato pancake, smoked salmon, hollandaise) and the FRIED CHICKEN + CHEDDAR WAFFLE with habanero honey, and it was incredible...both times!! different locations are busier at different times, but we went at 10 AM on a Saturday to the Edison Hotel (Theater District) location and were immediately seated.
The most beautiful and sophisticated place to fine gluten free ❤️ right around the corner from all the Broadway shows. I had the Nova Benedict, and it was the best lox & latkes Ive ever had. Brunch there before our show was an easy upscale way to dine. We told it waitress we had a time frame and she met it wonderfully.
Ate here at this location on 12/21. Food is slightly above average, but nothing noteworthy or worth making a trip to with friends; only if you’re in the vicinity passing by. Ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, spinach artichoke dip and the French toast. Everything was great. Came during a slow time, maximum of 35% occupancy with 50% of them already served. It took us 8 minutes to receive two waters. Plenty of staff around us. Gave our orders as well. Food came and everything was great. Took 10 minutes to find someone to get us the check. We sat front and center or the dining room between the bar and the kitchen. By the way, there are chefs eating in the kitchen area with their masks off with their bare hands. Not sure if that’s allowed behind the counter by the cooking area.
This place is amazing. They actually have the best french toast i’ve ever had. The aesthetics is also beautiful. The ONLY and i mean ONLY reason why I do not give this 5 stars is because i was told the wait would be 15 and that i could sit at the bar yet, everyone that walked in after me (no reservations) were seated immediately by a different host. When it was mentioned there was no apology or explaining which did make me feel like they were not organized with seating. AND the potatoes are not good but other than that, great restaurant.
Great brunch spot! Big dining area. We didnt have a reservation on a Saturday morning and only 20 minute wait for two. Pancakes are fluffy and plentiful. Hash browns are exceptional. Coffee is La Colombe just an FYI. Service and staff were fantastic. Highly recommended.
We went for breakfast at 7:30 am. The waiter was aware of the gluten free menu options and there were a variety of options. Food was underwhelming and not well seasoned. Service was not great, and we never got the ketchup we requested. There are better GF options in the city.
If you stayed at the hotel, you got a breakfast from here for only $5. The menu was pretty limited. The orange juice was so small it came in like a shot glass! The French toast was good but they used fresh starberrys then canned or frozen. The next day I had the Granola and it was bland and tasteless it needed some sort of honey. They seamed pretty short staffed as well and our waiter frogot our coffee a second time arround. Good for staying at the hotel I guess but you can find better elsewhere ( Krispy Kreme is right down the block!!!)
Amazing place to eat !!!! Their food and drinks were so delicious. There were only 3 items or so on the menu that could not be made gluten free. The server was very knowledgeable about gluten free questions. All staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place!!!
Last day in New York. Morning at the Fieldmans. Eggs with style at 15.24 USD. As I watched the window thinking back at the amazing week I had in New York jazz was pouring down from the speakers making it even harder for me to contemplate leaving. This is a place with more style. Nicely dressed waiters, big space, a more up class setting, being situated on 228 W 47th a few meters away from Times Square and inside the Edison Hotel. The food tasted good and I enjoyed that I was asked how I want the eggs and the complimentary bottle of water. However I did not feel such a difference from Westway in terms of quality. And I don’t mean this in a bad way for either place but it is really hard to mess some eggs and toast.Frankly you can eat in either place your breakfast and be ok with it. For more complicated dishes I cannot really tell but if you’re looking for basics either will serve you well.
Really nice food. However, they seemed too busy in proportion to care about customer service. For instance, we gave our number to let us know when our table was ready. However, the host made a mistake and forgot to add us. However, she refused to acknowledge the error she made. This could have been simply rectified by offering a table. After a moment of awkwardness, we decided to sit in the bar. You think why a tip is even necessary when the service could be that atrocious. It is actually ludicrous.
The WORST brunch I have ever had. Awful service. Incredibly slow. People who had been seated after us finished their brunch before we even got ours. When the food did come it was stone cold and poached eggs under cooked. Small portions and completely over priced. If we werent so hungry we would have walked out. Had to ask three times for one he bill . Honestly a complete waste of time.
First off, the wait time was ridiculous. We were told it was going to be a 25 minute wait for a party of six. We ended up waiting over 40 minutes to finally be seated. Then, the food took an entire half hour to arrive at the table. Some guests received their food before others so it created an awkward atmosphere. Additionally, the waitstaff was lost and consistently delivered our food to the wrong table. After all of this mess, the Asian chicken salad was subpar and not enjoyable. I could not even finish the food on my plate. Perhaps if the food had been decent, the wait and confusion would have been worth it, however, we walked out feeling like the experience was a waste of our time. There are plenty of other better options within a few minutes walk!
We took guests for coffee around 5pm and the lady who owns the bar and coffee counter there was most INEFFICIENT and RUDE !!! We waited 35 minutes and the server himself was so frustrated. I finally had to walk down and talk to the lady who was pretty rude and still couldnt get the simple three coffee orders correct.Im here past 6 days and let me tell you, there are much better places to spend your time and money than in Friedmans. There breakfast potatoes are also really bad. As for eggs and other BF items. Anyone can make and serve substandard BF. I wouldnt recommend.
Food was really good and service could have been a little better. Seemed as though our server was the only one for the who restaurant and missed getting items out the first time to more than our table.End of our meal the busboy ended up dropping his tray and the beverages spilled on my mom as well as pieces of glass on the floor. They were very helpful and our meal was on the house.Im giving four stars for the food and the effort of their team in these trying times.
I’m so disappointed in my experience. We moved away a few years ago so I was super excited to go back to a Friedman’s after so long. I have some allergies and gave my waiter two options. What I received was a dry salad without half the items that were supposed to be in the salad. He never came back to say that they would not be able to dress the salad or that the item would be heavily modified. I would have ordered something else instead I paid for something that was inedible. Just so disappointing!
I think this is the first review I’ve EVER written and it’s sad it has to be a bad one. I went to Friedman’s today for my birthday lunch. Honestly, the experience ruined my day. I’ll put this at the top of the review so people can see it: I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and it came to me severely undercooked. Waited another ten minutes to receive a new one and i asked if it was gluten free as i ordered the dish to be and the manager couldn’t even confirm it- he took my food once again (for the second time) back to the kitchen to confirm it. Although I wasn’t charged for the meal, this coupled with the rest of the dining experience was unacceptable and unprofessional.First we waited almost ten minutes to be served even water and the first time we met our server we seemed to already be rushed to order our entrees. The place is disorganized. Our table had no condiments, no knives just forks. My brother wanted to add some simple toppings to his sandwich and I wanted to clarify that the fried chicken would be gluten free as I’m allergic- pretty simple requests yet our waiter struggle to understand them and took unreasonably long to let us know if these requests could be fulfilled. After taking our order, the next time we saw our waiter was when we paid- he didn’t check in on us and was not the one to serve us our food or bring us anything else we asked for.I really wish I could say I had a pleasant experience here because I was looking forward to this.
We were seated immediately but it took a while for someone to take our order. It wasnt busy in there at all. I made eye contact with the hostess and she immediately new why I was looking around and went to get a server. Just so happens they sit a couple next to us and the gentleman seemed to be an employee there. So the waiter serves us 1/2 glasses of water and then proceeds to converse & assist them ignoring the fact we had been ready to order for almost 10 min. After he takes their order I ask the waiter if he can take ours and he seemed surprised at the request bc I assume they make sure they put in one table order at a time. We just didnt want to wait another 10mins for someone to acknowledge us. After this we finally get our food at some point he checks on us & gives us the syrup we asked for but that was the last time. He apparently went on break another waitress ate lunch at the employees table next to us then all of a sudden a waitress that was talking to them decided to ask us if we needed our check. The food was good but the service was lacking.
The only reason I’m giving it a 3 star is because of the manager and the food. The service was horrible. My waitress did not know what she was doing and was not attentive at all.It was my Birthday so I felt like it should be special but sadly it wasn’t.I specifically told the waitress that I was going to the restroom and not to clear my food.Came back and my food was cleared!!I was so upset!! Only ate half of my French toast!! The manager came and tried to make it right. She gave me a discount on my check but sadly that didn’t take away the bad service. It was really horrible.
The short version: Save yourselves and stay away. Sorry guys, don’t waste your time and money with this pretentious place. Everything we had was mediocre at best. Not sure what the people giving high reviews are used to eating. Why am I spending 30 bucks per person for below Waffle House quality food? I guess because it’s connected to the hotel and in TS? Who eats here? WhY are they open? Soo many questions.. Was recommended by my hotel concierge from a nearby hotel, maybe they’re paying people the send unknowing travelers here. It’s a good hack and would probably be enough to keep the doors open.
Such a nice little restaurant! Came here for breakfast this morning and both the food and the service were excellent. Our server, Francois, was so kind and friendly. He spared a moment to ask us where we were from and was very personable. Was a great way to start the day!
The Good: Atmosphere is really cool & my cappuccino was ok.The Bad: Asked for accommodating dietary restrictions: “can I have the (cheaper for them) avocado instead of bacon?” They said chopping up some avocado was against policy? gave us fruit we didn’t want instead. Food was bad diner food with an expensive price tag, came out cold the first time, they remade it but was still just warmer bad diner food. Couldn’t get work done, they wont give you the password for guest WiFi, told us to use the hotel WiFi- which also didn’t work because we weren’t hotel guests. Avoid avoid. It’s so easy to find good food in NYC just go anywhere else.
The venue is beautiful inside. The staff was mediocre, the juice glasses are TINY (basically little shot glasses of juice 🙄), and the toast was Hard! My wife enjoyed her avocado toast and poached eggs and my daughter enjoyed her French toast. I mean, it’s not bad, but just not great…
Outstanding food and service. Pastrami Hash and the Breakfast Burger are absolutely smashing, seriously. The service was deft and courteous. I could not have asked for a better meal, filling, delicious and quick (but not rushed). A great place for a lazy Saturday brunch or mid-afternoon meal. Well be back!
It was empty when we walked in. Got the lemonade & it was bad, until we got our food and then the lemonade didnt seem so bad. The food is not good. I got pancakes and they messed that up; it had no taste and the texture was mushy, like it wasnt fully cooked. Overall it wasnt a good experience.
The place was beautiful, but felt disorganized. Saw others enjoying a great experience but our waiter was never around We sat at an empty table after our meal waiting to pay, only then did the waiter hover at our table. This 1 waiter was slow to service but food was good
Feel as if we were not welcomed in. We were told we cannot not dine in because my friend had only 1 vaccination shot and not both. We had been around the entire NYC at multiple restaurants, attractions and bars and did not have this experience. She proceeded to tell us to go down the street to another restaurant that doesn’t require both shots. It was a pizza place. Even on the NYC website it says 1 shot. But anyway I don’t beg anyone to take my money. I was just hungry and it was near the hotel. Go to Dos Caminos 500 feet away.
GO HERE IF YOU ARE GLUTEN FREE!!!!! awesome staff, great interior and atmosphere, and theres only two things on the menu that cant be made gluten-free. My head about popped right off with all those options!! Thank you! And it was delicious! Best fruit bowl Ive ever had, as well.
This is a great breakfast place in the theater district. It is located in the Hotel Edison. If you want you can order from an online takeout menu, otherwise choose to be seated in their large open dining room. The room is equipped with two and square four top tables (convertible to larger round top tables), benches, and a bar with stools where you can eat. They serve alcohol too! The room is well lit and a little noisy but manageable. We were seated after a 10 minute wait. The food was excellent and the server was friendly, cheerful, and attentive. We would eat there again.
Yummy food! After an early flight, it was nice to sit down and have a drink and good food. We were seated immediately, even thought there was a packed house. Being from the South, we loved that there were fried pickles! I also had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and they were delicious. The mimosas were a nice touch and we enjoyed our overall experience!
A little pricey, but thats to be expected for the area, and we knew that from looking at the menu before we picked this place. Food was excellent! We went for brunch on a Saturday, about 11:30 and it was busy, but we were seated (2 people) within 5 minutes. I got the Nova Benny, my husband got the Pastrami Hash. Both were delicious, good portions and great flavor. We left very satisfied.
We went to Friedmans after being to two other restaurants across the street that had no availability. We were pleasantly surprised by the service; super friendly staff (hostess Grace, waitress Ally, and food servers). Food was well worth the wait. I had the salmon and my friends had burgers. So delicious.
We seemed to wait longer than other large groups that came after us, but the service was quick once we were seated. Cocktail was good and portions were large. Lots of care to allergies, especially with three people in our party having Celiac Disease. Tons of gluten-free options. Expensive, but a good stop if you are around to see a show.
Breakfast was excellent! But the service was very bad! They seated diners after us and took the order from them and received their food while we waited for a waiter to come and take our order. At the end the hostess called the waiter to come and take our order, but we were left with bad taste. So in return they did not get a single dollar tip, which would improve their service.2 stars it is because of the food which was delicious.
Way overpriced for the food you get. Went in a on a Thursday for brunch and was seated quickly. We also got our food quickly. Service was mostly good (took a while to place our order and waitress did spill milk on my wife but it was an accident). Food was not bad but also not very memorable. Price was though.
My mom and I are both gluten free and not from the area, which can be difficult to find places where we can eat, and so we were so grateful to find Friedman’s. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and almost the entire menu was either gluten free or could be made gluten free. Highly recommend.
I had a late breakfast here today and sat at the bar. I ordered poached eggs with rye toast and bacon. The poached eggs were cooked all the way through, and I got some kind of whole grain toast instead of rye. It was good, but just not cooked properly and the toast was not what I ordered. It was pricey too, with a soda and tip, it came to $29. But it is in a great location.
We must have been the one off because our food took 25 minutes to come. We sat at the bar and I asked the waitress to check around 18 minutes in and the food was delivered before she checked. And if course it was cold. They offered to re-fire it, but at that point, we just ate what we could. The lemon ricotta pancakes were delicious, but cool. I would try it again.
The kids had the waffle, which meant I had some of the waffle. It was dense and creamy and delicious, and the fruit fresh. My own tuna melt was fabulous. And then they got dessert. Amazing cheesecake for this admitted out-of-Towner, and the brownie sundae was beyond words.Service was likewise wonderful.Worth the price!
The food was amazing to the t delicious BUT when you have a manager berating employees in front of customers as well as micro managing and not really doing much otherwise it kind of makes the dining experience a little less great. Our 5 servers were great as well. Oh and when you leave dont worry they wont say to have a nice day or thanks for your business...
Always love Friedmans. They can do almost their entire menu Gluten Free which is a huge selling point for my bf and I who frequent here often. We havent eaten anything we dont love, but the steak tacos, and Chicken Swisswich on gluten free bread are two of my favorite menu items! Great coffee as well! The location in the Eduson Hotel is great because it seems to be the largest location. There can be a wait on weekends so keep that in mind.
Busy, but not your run of the mill dining. It is attached to hotel. Minimum price for a entree is $15. The avocado toast was a hefty brunch item and delicious. My coffee was good and so was my mimosa! Dry and juicy!Over All for four people the meal was close to $180 with tip.Its a safe bet but not a must go to place.
As others have said, the restaurant itself is very pretty on the inside. Our waiter was very attentive and offered suggestions on what to order. I ordered the BLT and my husband ordered the avocado toast. Both were just okay, nothing fantastic. The pancakes were dense and the kids didnt really like them. I wouldnt return again on a visit to NY but didnt regret my experience.
Although a little hidden the signs are all very visible. The restaurant makes a point of being very flexible when it comes to the needs of gluten-free patrons. The service team was very kind, quick and knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. We had a very pleasant experience and would go there again.
I have to credit our waiter for making our experience here absolutely the best! My uncle and I came here for their Reuben sandwich and cheesecake dessert, and they did not disappoint. They even gave us an extra pickle for free since we were sharing the sandwich. Its quite sizeable, as Im sure I would not have had room for coffee and dessert if Id eaten an entire sandwich on my own. We also got an order of fries with it, which were lovely. The cheesecake and coffee were very good, though I was a bit disappointed my dirty chai took a bit long to come out, and was lukewarm. Other than that, I have no complaints!
Ive been going to Friedmans for the past 6 years and it is just an amazing place, plain and simple! Just had my daughters graduation celebration there and they went above and beyond in accommodating for the occasion. The director of operations, Jordan, was absolutely fantastic in helping me plan for this event. It was a party of 20 people and every single person expressed how great the food was. My daughters and I are gluten free and we had all the appetizers and desserts made gluten free for the entire table. Not to my surprise all the food was finished! Thats a testimony in itself of the amazing food Friedmans has to offer.

2022-07-16I was close by in the neighborhood for my birthday and thought why not have breakfast here. I enjoyed my burger and they cooked my meat well done the way I like it. My friend also enjoyed her chicken and waffles. I was told the wait time would be thirty minutes but I only waited ten minutes which was perfect. Great experience eating here, I would eat there again. Keep in mind that it is very busy around eleven to twelve noon.

2022-06-29I will not be going back. I paid 19 bucks plus tax and tip for this brunch - mediocre scrambled eggs, fries, two small pieces of bacon and a piece of toast. I got this meal because they did not have many dairy free options at all. This place is well rated and quite pretty inside but the tables are either VERY close to other tables or very close to the path with many people walking right by your table. It was not a good experience.

2022-03-28The only down side is you have to call in advance to find out if they are taking walk ins, something I didn’t know you had to do in NEW YORK 🗽 ,Other then that, The chilaquiles are huge and delicious 🤤 all the food 🥘 there is delicious 😋 every time I go!I’m visiting from Oregon, and I’m definitely going back for more!

2022-03-15Long line to get it but it’s worth it. Very tasty food and the decor is very nice. They have decent coffee and their French toast was delicious. Definitely recommend getting the chocolate chip pancakes or the French toast.

2022-06-21Popular breakfast joint in theater district. Avocado toast looked filling and too much for a single guest...Homemade Granola hit the spot although was dry due to the think Greek yogurt (cream).

2022-07-18Granola was ok, can’t really mess that up. Pancakes weren’t great. Potato hash was lacking flavour. Probably wouldn’t recommend.

2022-02-21The food was overpriced and the quality was not good. The fench toast was chewy. Chai tea latte was very blend. It was steamed milk with hint of chai tea. The staffs were nice.

2022-08-04Nice place as we wanted to experience a ”diner breakfast” in NYC. We been here a week and have had hotel breakfasts. STAY away from the side of ”thick cut Bacon” its 3 slices standard bacon at usd 8. Rip off anywhere else in the world!

2022-06-25Almost everything is gluten free. The waitress said it is easier to tell you the 3 or 4 items that are cannot be made gluten free.
