Fromer Eye Centers in other cities:
I had an appointment to see the ophthalmologist at 12:45 p.m. l was there at 12:00p.m. I did not get called until 2:15 p.m. almost a 2-hr wait and l did not complete my visit until 4:40 p.m. and still have to schedule another appointment for the optometrist to get my eyes tested for glasses. Totally an inconvenience for me and a waste of time. I should be able to do it all in one visit. Other than that the services was great and everyone was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable . The office was clean and with the latest equipment.
I like the treatment I received from the Center at 550 Park Ave. But one thing that ticks me off is the waiting time to be seen. For the second time, I had to wait 2 hours past my appointment time. I hope they’ll be more considerate with their patient’s time not being wasted by being seen according to their time of appointment. We too have our lives to live.
Dr. Fromer is clearly a charming guy, certainly someone who instills a sense of confidence that everything will turn out fine. However, I am writing this because something happened that goes to the heart of the doctor-patient relationship: honesty. Before cataract surgery, he advised that I see a specialist to check out a condition that I reported to him. I did schedule an appointment with a vascular doctor and accessed my records from my visit with Dr. Fromer in order to provide more information for that visit. In those records, I read the following:“The risks, benefits, and alternatives to surgery were discussed including bleeding, infection, complications, loss of vision, loss of eye, and increased risk of retinal detachment, prolonged swelling of the cornea, droopiness of the eyelid, irregular pupil and potential need for further surgery.”Dr. Fromer DID NOT DISCUSS even in the slightest way any of the complications noted above. I subsequently cancelled all my appointments for cataract surgery in a telephone call with the surgical assistant. She asked why and I told her and she seemed non-plussed. I emphasized that it might be helpful to communicate with the doctor that it is distressing to read about serious, possible complications in clinical notes that were never addressed during one’s visit.
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Rebecca Shields for 5 years and she’s the most caring, professional and technically excellent ophthalmologist I’ve been blessed to be treated by. I’ve had neo-vascular glaucoma since 1983 so I’ve been seen by many eye doctors. But Dr. Shields is the best of them all.
I have been a patient here since 2013. Always great service. Procedures are explained before they are preformed and you are told the pros and cons to make an informed decision. Highly professional and exceptional knowledgeable staff. I have recommended Fromer Eye Care to both friends and family.
Thank you, Dr. Rogers for the great work, thank you Dr. Shields for saving my vision, Thank you to all the doctors at Fromer eye in Forest Hills Queens and the surgery center in the Bronx, yes the wait times are a little much but Id much rather wait a little for excellent service than get drive through treatment thats subpar.
Dr. Fromer is always friendly, attentive, definitive, and careful to assess the probable long-term needs of the patient as well as his immediate condition. However, I have never felt pressured to take any step medically (such as cataract surgery) until it was genuinely necessary.Support staff are excellent and the battery of sophisticated tests is extensive, permitting Dr. Fromer to assess a patients condition comprehensively and accurately.
I have been a patient of Dr. Fromer for the last eight years. Dr. Fromer and his team are the best eye care professionals I have ever been to and I have been wearing glasses & going to eye doctors since 1981. They always explain my eye condition in a manner that is easy to understand clearly explain treatment options. The medical equipment they use is state of the art and minimally evasive. The staff is always courteous and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Fromer for your eye care.
Dr. Fromer is a very skilled surgeon who is open and honest about what benefits a patient abd what is just cosmetic. He did my cataract surgery this past June. I have never had such good vision before this. I have ambliopia, dry eyes and a detached muscle so bring able to help me after all that was amazing. It took 2 months for my eye to heal from the surgery unlike many people who immediately do great. He told me to be patient and that everything went as planned. I went in for a follow up to schedule the second eye. He told me it wasn’t necessary at this time, and may not be necessary to do that one. This just shows you how prudent he is. It’s been amazing not just to have clear vision but better vision than before. I highly recommend him both as an ophthalmologist and surgeon.
Dr Fromer is the best! He reassured me that I would be fine. I wore prescription glasses all of my life and believed that it would be impossible for me to see anything without my glasses. After having cataract surgery on both eyes, I now, no longer need to wear my glasses. I cannot believe it, I am a living witness, because suddenly I can see clear and sharp Without my glasses.Thank you Dr Fromer and staff ! I have eyes that work. 5 Star *****
Went for my yearly checkup for my eyes to Fromer Eye Centers where Ive been going for years. I find their examination process super thorough and very professional. I ALWAYS get an accurate assessment as to how my eyes are doing and I leave the office knowing that my vision is in great hands. Thank you Fromer Eye Centers!
First time visiting this facility. The providers, receptionist and medical assistants were wonderful. They are professional and caring. Janet was outstanding. Overall they are 5 star. The wait was horrible and the waiting area overcrowded. The furniture needs update as chairs are filthy and made with fabric that is stained and torn. Need to be replaced with fabrics that can be cleaned. This I rate one star. The ambiance needs to match the care. I will return but hope the facility gets upgraded and the scheduling modify to improve the overcrowding
Extremely knowledgeable and caring. I am a corneal transplant patient and Dr Su is always prepared with updated medical information on the latest advancements in contact lenses for my condition. She is the rare doctor that makes you feel like you are her only patient that day. Highly recommend
Dr. Mark Fromer and Fromer Eye Center have handled my eye care for more than a dozen years. That includes regular maintenance visits, laser surgery, and cataract implants. I have always received exquisite care from the minute I step in the door. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable, caring, and attentive.
My experience at Fromer Eye Centers was wonderful. Dr. Mark Fromer is amazing, as well as Dr. Su. I am sure the other doctors too. He performed laser iridotomy which I am very nervous since it’s my first time but Dr Fromer took my worries away. The technicians and staff are extremely courteous, polite and very professional. It has been an honor to be their patient. Highly recommended!
If I could give 10 stars I would! Dr. Mark Fromer really made me feel comfortable during examinations, surgeries and consultations! I travel all the way from Coney Island for service. I chose my health insurance based on what he accepts. I wish that I had been referred to him years ago because I know that my vision would be excellent. Before Fromer Eye Center, my vision was -26. I had to wear glasses and contacts together. The staff are great! I’ve only had one incident with a rude employee. If you can’t work with the public, you’re in the wrong business! I recommend Fromer to everyone seeking quality eye care service!
The staff is always excellent and most time the doctor experience is first rate, the problem is that a typical office visit at Fromer is over 3 hours and yesterday I had another appointment at Mt Sinai west and had to walk there from Park Ave so I never saw the doctor. A 3 hour appointment is typical but I have experienced 4 + hours at the eye center and it is too long, not sure what can be done!
Dr. Su is the best optometrist I have ever had. Her skills as a clinician are obvious, but it is the combination of skill and ability to relate to her patients that make her a cut above the rest. She truly listens to what one is saying, and knows how your vision problems might be affecting your life. With this great ability to empathize, Dr. Su combines the best of both worlds: She knows it all regarding your ability to see, but she also knows how it might be affecting your life. If I could, I’d give her ten stars!
First they messed up my appointment. I called to confirm since nobody called me, turned out it was made for the previous year! They told me I can still come and see another doctor. I came and waited an hour. Still had two people ahead of me. I did not plan to spend that long there, just needed a consjltation. Basically wasted a few hours of my time. Will not go back. The staff were nice though and easily cancelled my appointment when I asked.
I have a consistently great experience with Fromer Eye Center’s Park Avenue office. Dr. Susan Fromer and Dr. Mark Fromer are extremely experienced and knowledgeable and thorough and patient and skillful in caring for my eyes and any issues that come up. Their staff of other doctors and support team are thorough and patient as well and it’s a all around great experience. I place my trust in this highly talented and capable team.
Dr. Mark Fromer performed 2 cataract surgeries on my left eye in February 2014. I paid him $1600 for a lens that would allow me to see without glasses (not covered by my insurance). After the first surgery all I could see was white; my vision was totally obstructed. He told me that some of the cataract was still in my eye and now was blocking my vision. Two weeks later he performed a second surgery. After that surgery I could see some, but my vision was really bad. Four months later my vision hadnt gotten much better, so I went to see another ophthalmologist for a second opinion. As soon as she looked into my eye, she told me that my cornea was torn and my iris was shredded. She sent me to a cornea specialist. Eventually the cornea specialist repaired the tear in my cornea. This made a small improvement in my vision. However, the iris could not be repaired; it was too shredded. Also, 3 doctors (regular opthalmologist, cornea specialist, and optomotrist) have told me that the lens that was inserted is not centered. I now have limited vision in that eye. In normal indoor lighting it is like Im looking through a gauze curtain. In bright fluorescent light or sunlight, it is like Im looking through a snowstorm. I also have double vision because of the misplaced lens. Dr. Fromer never told me that he had done any damage to my eye. I should have walked out of Dr. Fromers office as soon as I walked in and saw that all 20 chairs in the waiting room and the 10 chairs in the hallway were filled and there were at least 10 people standing. I was not seen by anyone for several hours. Then several tests were run after which I waited at least another half hour to see Dr. Fromer. He saw me for about 5 minutes. I felt rushed. In 2020 I had cataract surgery on my right eye by another surgeon. Fortunately, he took his time and I now have excellent sight in that eye.
Dr. Susan Fromer has managed my glaucoma and cataracts for 15 years, proceeding carefully. I have undergone successful eye surgery 3 times. Susan Fromer is a skilled surgeon and a kind woman.I was recommended to the Fromer practice by a family that had been using them since their stepfather ran the practice back in the 1960s. The Fromers are committed to helping as many New Yorkers as possible including the elderly and the large diverse community that is NYC. As well, they employ a diverse range of young people. This is no accident it is a tradition. I am a CUNY professor and they accept my insurance. I imagine that they accept a wide range of coverage and that this is why the office is always crowded. I also feel that we are on a similar mission.I have been patient with crowded waiting rooms over the years, but I confess that until I was vaccinated for covid that this caused me a lot of anxiety during the pandemic. Also, the office became harder to reach during the pandemic, and I found that my easy going dynamic with Dr. Fromer was put under pressure, I do rack this up to the enormous stress that she shoulders well, in general, and her longtime commitment to serve as many people as possible. I find her less patient with questions, but during my last visit I did feel that the entire staff had been retrained in administrating tests, and that this part of the process is going much better.I wish much success to the Fromers in the future.
I started going to Fromer eye care back in 2018. They continued to reach out and I scheduled an appt in 2020 for my annual exam. Biggest mistake. If you make an appointment, plan to spend at least 4 hours. Your eyes are checked by 3 different techs before you actually see a doctor and no matter how often you return, they do the same tests. So, within a week of visits, they will do an eye exam. Why would my eye sight change within a week of a visit? Ridiculous .I was told I needed to do a laser surgery on my eye because it wasn’t draining properly and could lead to glaucoma. Asked about down time, was told no down time needed. They have this procedure hundred of times.Well, biggest mistake I ever made. My eye has not healed, went back for several follow up appointments and was told I should see the doctor. Dr Susan Fromer. Appointment scheduled and waited over an hour to be seen by anyone. I finally walked out and do not plan on rescheduling or returning to Fromer.I never had any issues with my eyes until I went to this office.Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY
Please do not come to this place If you have free health insurance. They will treat you bad and make you come for more than one visit to get something minor done. First they charged me for an eye check up that I already had done. Second they made me wait over a month for the second visit. To cancel for a third visit. If you have good health insurance, your in luck! All the doors are open for you. No confusion with the appointments. No health insurance issues with payments for minor procedures. Don’t worry you will be treated fine here. But for you other brokies out their like myself don’t count on this place to give you good service. They are unprofessional at best and treat people based on their insurance. Seems like a classist type of thing. I will not come back here again. Imagine what they could do to your eye because your not paying them with good health insurance. Oh I know, they might just make you come back for a third visit and tell you they didn’t have their tools with them. True story.
There are very good doctors here. However, I felt very uncomfortable in their waiting room - it was much too crowded during Covid restrictions and the wait was very long until I got to see the doctor. In fact, the wait was so long for my Opthomologist appt, that I didn’t even get to see Dr FROMER, as he had to leave to attend a meeting. One of the other doctors took care of me during my appt.Even though they seemed to be very thorough during my appt, the reason I went to FROMER Eye Care was to be taken care of by Dr FROMER himself.I am not sure I will be returning for my next checkup, which will involve discussing possible cataract surgery. I need to have my faith restored in Dr FROMER’s practice.
Dr. Susan Fromer has provided me with extraordinary treatment for the last 15 years -- through a torn retina, a glaucoma scare, and ongoing medical needs. Also, she always -- always -- takes the time to listen to my concerns and makes sure shes meeting my needs. Shes the best.
Dr. Fromer and staff are professionals who have rendered excellent service to me after Retina Detachment from my left eye. I been going there for the past 2 years and from my first visit with him he promised that I would recover some of my vision and I did. I highly recommend Dr. Fromer to anyone and 5 stars for him.
I showed up on time for my appointment and after close to two hours still had not been seen. Only after threatening to walk out was I shown to the doctor’s office where I was told it would be another 30 minutes for a test to be run and then I would have to schedule a follow up appointment to receive the service I had come in for. No thank you! There are plenty of better, more efficient doctors in this city.
Dr. Susan Fromer and her team at Fromer Eye Center are remarkable. Collectively they are great professionals who care about the patients vision.Dr. Fromer is a great doctor and I feel very fortunate to be one of her patients. As an artist my eye sight is crucial to my work. Dr. Fromers attention to detail has been of paramount importance to me as I carry on with my lifes work. I cant thank her enough.Sincerely,Greg Kwiatek
This is my fourth time to the Fromer Eye Center on Park Avenue and 62nd street. This visit was much more thorough than my other visits. I felt like they took a lot of care when taking me through various tests. Then Dr. Fromer himself came in to examine me. He was very kind, self-assured and had a dry sense of humor. I really appreciated this especially in todays difficult times.
This is factory medicine. I am told Dr. Fromer sees 100 patients per day. The office has a large staff and is very well equipped with the latest technologies. Dr. Fromer is assisted by many technicians and several other physicians representing a variety of specialties. During my last visit, I was seen by Dr. Fromer, another ophthalmologist and several technicians. Examinations are thorough and the examiners know their business. The waiting rooms are crowded, and waits are long. It took almost four hours to complete a regular annual checkup which involved not only refractions and a look at my retina, but also measurement of my intraocular pressure and my visual fields, a slit-lamp examination of my corneas, and transcranial Doppler ultrasound measurements of my blood circulation. I counted 25 other patients in the waiting room.
Terrible Terrible Service!! They have no respect for a persons time. Had a 11:15 am Appointment. Showed up 10 mins early. Wasn’t seen till 1 pm. They had to put drops in my eyes and wait 20 mins to be seen again. Waited 1 hour to be seen again after I had to ask 3 times wasn’t I supposed to be seen after 20 mins. They keep saying you’re next your next, but they call others who are waiting on the waiting area. Finally left after 2 1/2 hours for a basic checkup. It’s a shame that they treat people this way when we are in need of their service. Will definitely be charging my doctor and will not recommend this office to anyone.
I am a patient of Dr. Mark Fromer and have been for years. I’ve had several successful procedures done and have referred my daughter’s grandmother to him in order to have a cataract surgery done as of March 2021. Park Avenue is the practice I visit and I must say all the staff and doctors are amazing. The COVID 19 guidelines are followed by everyone. I would highly recommend Mark Fromer for your vision related wellbeing.
Excellent service provided by highly professional specialist and very competent technicians.Dr. Mark Fromer is a super human being who listens with tremendous patience to the patient and then proceeds to provide his assessment and then prescribes the prognosis.I have been treated by Dr. Fromer for almost 6 years now and I would unhesitatingly follow his advice with a blind fold.
Back in March I noticed blurriness in my vision. I checked my eyes, and my left eye felt like I was looking through a fun house mirror and the center view was pure grey. I freaked out and tried calling eye center after eye center. Finally I got consulted by an eye doctor who referred me to Mark Fromer. From March to now, Fromer eye center treated me for a BRVO, a small seizure that causes a blockage in the eye and causes blood to leak and block my vision. I have hypertension which is what led to it.The office treated me for many months and monitored my eyes, while recommending lifestyle changes to prevent further damage, including seeing a doctor who does cardiology. The office itself is nice and they have a diverse staff, so if you speak Spanish or another language, you will be able to talk to a staff member without problems. As of October, my eye has recovered to about 20/25...which is amazing. So I would like to Thank Dr. Fromer himself for a job well done.
Fromer Eye Center, are a group of professionals who have rendered great service to me and my family on several occasions. I have great confidence that Id be provided with exceptional care on every vist. On February 20th, 2021 I had laser surgery, Iwas totally pleased with care provided to meand my recovery was was fast, without complications. Thank you Dr. Fromer and your total staff.
My last two (out of three) visits have been horrible: I was alerted to the fact that my insurance company had yet to authorize my procedure *after* I made the trip from Westchester into their Manhattan office. Ok, slip-ups happen. But then when I was cleared to come in, I waited TWO HOURS in the waiting room after being told multiple times that I was next. To top that off, the issue with my eye has not alleviated, so Ill need to go back in the next couple of weeks. This follow up visit will determine whether or not I will continue as a patient.
Long story short, I would never go back to this office, and I would not recommend anybody visit this office for ANY reason!Dr. Mark Fromer was probably the 6th or 7th doctor I had seen in the last few months regarding some issues I’ve been experiencing with my eyes. I’m 21 years old, was born with cataracts in both of my eyes, and this had been taking a huge toll on my day to day life.It didn’t take long for Dr. Fromer to confirm that the cataracts were my issue, and that I’d need surgery if I wanted to fix my problem. He was very adamant about this new trifocal lens, that would “fix me for good”. This lens was only approved by the FDA a few months ago and isn’t covered by any insurance! So, it’d cost $3,800 per lens. (The alternative lens, that would be covered by insurance, wouldn’t ‘fix’ my issue apparently)Before I even left the office, they had already signed me up for surgery for that Tuesday (I was in the office on Friday). They had also informed me I’d need to visit my primary physician for several different tests and come back to their office for a separate $200 test, all BEFORE I go for my surgery on Tuesday.I had informed the office I would not be having surgery done, and I would not be returning! The following Sunday I had made an appointment with yet another Specialist. After some extensive tests, and only 10 mins of examining me, The Dr notified me that the cataracts were NOT my issue. They are there, but they’re tiny. My issue this entire time was dry eye! This Dr directed me to use a hot compress twice a day, and use some prescription drops twice a day, and that was it!! 3 days later and I’m seeing a HUGE difference!I am SO happy I took it upon myself to get some more opinions before making any drastic decisions. If I would have listened to Dr. Fromer and went ahead with a surgery I did NOT need, I could’ve ended up blind to say the least.
What a disappointment. I had to wait over 2 hours, and the place was packed! Besides temperature checks, they are not abiding by common-sense safety practices to prevent the spread of COVID. You should not have that many people in the office! There was over 20+ people in the park avenue facility, which is not a large space. Everyone who walked in was startled to see this many folks (but they braved it). They overbook, but are understaffed? Then why overbook then? If someone has an appointment, then honor it. Dont have them waiting, as this is inconsiderate of their time. They seem to care more about making a buck at the expense of your safety. If I could give zero stars, I would.
I was on an appointment a week ago and one of the assistant was amazing. I still love him, his name is Stephen or Steven🧑🏾🦱. Before doing any procedure on your eyes he lets you know, super attentive, friendly, reliable, he is the best and you should raise his salary hahaha
Unfortunately my experience with the support staff and follow up has been incredibly disappointing and very frustrating - leading to very poor patient care in the end. Following my eye exam, I had a very difficult time reaching the person in charge of placing the order for my contacts and had to call a number of times until we Finally connected. I was told to wait one week for my contact and they they would call me when they came in. Again, poor follow up. No one called and I once more had to call the office twice, left messages requesting a call back and still did not hear from anyone. I then requested to speak to the office manager to discuss these issues and SHE also did not call me back. Despite the positive interaction I had with the actual eye doctor, I will not be returning and would definitely not recommend this place on account of the horrible follow up provided by all of the support staff. Twice now I’ve been left without contacts and ultimately decided to place an order elsewhere even if it meant not going through my INS company.
I have been seeing the doctors at the Park Ave. location for over 10 years for my glaucoma treatment! The front desk receptionist & the office staffs are the sweetest ladies there are who works at a doctors office, not only always efficient, moreover they are always making every patient feel their every need is attended to! The doctors are knowledgeable & have listening ears to the patients! Not that many doctors offices got staffs & doctors that attentive!! Thank you Obama!!
Worst physicians ever encountered.I show up for an appointment for an optometrist appointment . Waited 45 mins. In the pre-examination room the nurse / attendant with straight face mentioned that the optometrist is simply not in so I can make another appointment or try somewhere else to get my glasses. Since I was there I wanted to get my eyes examined. The opthamologist whom I saw after I almost walked out of the office after 1.5 hours was more interested in setting up the new appointment to look for conditions that have nothing to do me.I stupidly made an appointment for another eye exam to get my new prescription glasses, the reason I was there to begin with. I had a 2PM appointment. At 2:10 I asked one of the staff member on the wait time to which she very rudely responded SIR you have a 2pm appointment it is ONLY 2:10 we have time. JUST WAIT. Waited 45 minutes and just walked out.One of the staff member is very nice.Awful experience. Avoid if you have an alternative. There are a lot decent physicians in NYC. This is simply not one of them
Dr. Fromer did cataract surgery on both of my eyes. He is the doctor to whom i would send anyone with a vision issue. He is trained in the front and back of the eye so you do not have to see someone else if you have a retinal problem.Dr. Fromer listens to what you say and does not treat you like a nobody.Great experience with his office too. The wait is not long if you are on time for your appointment.
Great staff, very helpful. Caveats: 1) can be impossible to reach by phone; 2) like all eye doctors, expect to wait. I had an 11:15 AM appointment and didnt leave until 2 PM. Everyone apologized for the delay, but thats been the case here and every other ophthalmologist Ive seen. Bring a bottle of water and an interesting read on device of choice.Youll need them.
In my eyes hes the best I say thank God every morning I wake up and that night I say thank God I had a doctor like this that saved my eyesight he is Simply the Best he talks to everyone he treats everyone the same with respect and an understanding of whats going on beautiful human being for a doctor to have a bedside manner like this man is amazing so many people Non-Stop it doesnt make a difference always smiling and upbeat
The waiting time is above 2 hours and than the doctor couldn’t perform just one time laser iridotomy, as it should be. I had to go 2 times for her to redo the procedure and I had to pay for the second time too. Why did she miss the first time? I don’t know and she didn’t even explain.
Terrible experience. Made appt with Dr Fromer on recommendation from another physician. Arrived in time but not called up until 20 min after my apt time just to complete paperwork, then told that the visit would take up to two hours. Dozens of patients in small, hot waiting room. And -- it turned it that my appt was not even with Dr Fromer as requested but with some other random doctor. I left.
The support staff is very rude and the lady actually hung up on me. I was calling to make my first appointment and told her I could not spend three hours in the office for the first appointment and would it be possible to break it up into two appointments. She sarcastically informed me that their office was the real deal and there were no other options just before she hung up the phone. If this was my experience on the phone, I cant imagine what it would have been like in person.
I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism of the staff at 1966 3rd ave location. Specificly Luz the office manager went beyond her job to ensure that my Cataract surgery was intact.. In accordance with my insurance co. She stayed on that phone and wouldnt get off until she took care of the matter. She got off the phone with great news. And i was on my way to surgery. Something i need done otherwise i will go blind. The complete staff blow my mind. As for Dr. Fromer not only is he a charismatic hottie, he is so down to earth and was sensitive and reassuring to my conscerns. Im Davnita A REAL PATIENT AND VERY SATISFIED ONE. Thanks guys n gals!!! Got one eye done getting set for the other yaaay
I am writing this from my wifes account. I sat in this clinic and wasted four hours of my life today. I am in terrible pain and there was absolutely no consideration from my pain, health and obviously time. I tried to talk to the office manager about it and they kept giving me excuses, telling me they are backed up/short handed. I saw others walk in and go right back. I was stuck there because my eyes were dilated. When the doctor did come, she spent literally 10 minutes with me. When I told her how long I waiting and how horrible it was, she said that is not her, its the scheduling department and showed no empathy, remorse or concern. I highly recommend NEVER going here. If you do and they tell you they are backed up, RUN. If I could give zero stars I would.
I had 2 lasik eye surgeries here.1 was done just fine, but the other was done so poorly i am thinking about contacting a lawyer.Ive had extreme pain, redness, swelling, And bluriness after trusting this eye center.I have been reaching out countless times but they are purprosefully not getting back to my calls.I do not reccomend service here to anybody and hope you do not trust youre eye surgeries with this instiution.

2022-08-25Dr. Fromer is one of the best eye care specialists around. Very knowledgeable, gives you your diagnosis straight and to the point, his treatment options as well as testing equipment is top notch. My only complaint, time management. Be prepared to stay for 4 hours. Theres a price to pay to see the best I guess.

2022-02-17Comprehensive eye care by an excellent doctor. His office has all the equipment needed for any condition. So you can be treated in one place. The nurses were also excellent. All issues and procedures were clearly explained as the examination was in process. I highly recommend Dr. Fromer and his entire staff.

2022-06-24I arrived 15 minutes early for my eye appointment to fill out the required forms but they were over an hour late seeing me with no excuses or explanation other than the doctor is “running a little behind”. 1.5 hours here and only had a tech check my glasses for my prescription and conduct a routine minimal vision check. Note that this isn’t just me complaining. At least 10 people, that I heard, were complaining that they had been waiting for hours! The front desk staff was of no help. They were joking around, being unnecessarily loud and swearing as if they were at a party! They offered poor customer service to those that approached them to find out why everyone was waiting so long. The office management really needs to take a close look at what they are doing wrong and fix it.I do NOT recommend anyone come to Former Eye Centers at 550 Park Ave. There are many well managed ophthalmology offices and with excellent eye doctors and much better staff in the City. No one should have to deal with this. After my appointment finishes I will not be returning!Update: Dr Wong finally walked in 2.5 hours after my initial appointment time. He didn’t introduce himself, say hi, or apologize for the wait. Did the exam that took under 5 minutes. Said he wanted to see me in 2–3 months for a follow up. I told his assistant I would not be back after such poor care and treatment.

2022-03-18Rebecca Shields, M.D. is professional, personable and very caring. She explained the laser procedure very clearly in our consultation and was terrific during both procedures.I highly recommend her. I had a bit of a long wait for the first procedure which was a bit nerve-wracking. It would be helpful if staff could just let the patient know the expected wait time. I was given clearer information the day of my second procedure.

2022-06-10This is the worst doctors office ever. One star is even too much. I found them because they were in my health care network, but it has been one of the worst experiences ever. They are so incompetent! Scheduling an appointment is a disaster, they mix up dates, locations, appointments are over a month later and 2 days before it turns out they scheduled it wrong. The staff (front desk) is so rude, disrespectful and inefficient. Ive been waiting for over 4 months for contacts and when they arrived (they didnt call me, I had to call) they ordered only 5 pairs (daily ones!). Wherever you go, be ready to be there around 3 hours. The doctors (at least mine) arrived over one hour later. Honestly, do not waste your time, patience, etc. on this office. Find a new place, you will get much better care and attention.

2022-04-29Dr. Fromer is an excellent physician and a caring person. He answers all questions in a concise and easy to understand manner. I have full confidence in him to diagnose and treat any issues that arise.

2022-04-12I didnt make the appointment anymore because I was completely frustrated and disgusted by the rude receptionist that answered the phone. She asked for my insurance and then told me they didnt take it, which is fine, but when I still asked to make an appointment she was resisting making an appointment for me and kept repeating you dont have insurance here and the other offices would tell me the same. I told her I understand that they dont take my insurance, but it doesnt mean I still dont want to see the doctor and it doesnt mean I cant pay out of pocket. Its common that some places wont accept your insurance and its also common that some patients can afford to see a doctor without insurance. You shouldnt treat them any different. The receptionist needs to learn customer service skills. It clearly lacks here and at other offices. Your receptionist is your first introduction to your business in many cases and can hurt your business.

2022-03-29Wait times are horrendous. Its consistently a much longer appt than you expect and the waiting room is not comfortable. My doc is great--shes the only reason I put up with the unpleasantness of this practice--but the receptionists at Park Ave have attitude and are unhelpful. I will be looking for a new doctor.

2022-07-13My mom was never examined by Dr. M.Fromer after her eye surgery. The 550 Pk ave location is full of ophthalmology techs who do the bulk of your eye exams. The doctor makes a quick appearance mostly for billing purposes. Waiting times, after your scheduled appointments are very loooong, but everyone looks very busy, walking back and forth. Also, its impossible to contact anyone, for any reason after your eye surgery. What a place!!!!

2022-09-08Staff and doctor are outstanding. Facility is excellent. The only negative is the wait time, I had an 8:30 am appointment and was not finished until after 11 am.
