Such an amazing hidden gem I almost dont want to share it! Great selection, unbeatable prices and a very kind and helpful staff. Don’t come here with expectations of Garment district selection, but if you come in with an open mind , some creativity and patience (there can be a bit of a wait if the staff is helping other people) it will become your new favorite spot too. Can’t wait to go back.
Wow! The family history with this fabric store are childhood memories. I remember my mothers purchases to make us outfits during the holiday season. I return to make my grandchildren outfits with fabric that I purchase. The history of this fabric store is long and thankful.
Great store - I have purchased fabric from here several times and the prices cant be beat. Im no expert but I think they have a nice selection of different fabrics and I have always been able to find what I needed and within my price range. Many other stores sell the same things at 2x the price.
Theyve lost me as a customer.Poor service, laziness, disrespect, inconsiderate.I buy their super cheap fabrics that resembles my more expensive fabrics I use in my design business for making mockups and testing out ideas. I have an office in SoHo so I shop here from time to time.Had me (and three other women) waiting outside for 30 minutes. Yet some customers who came after us were serviced. It was a very weird situation. No exaggeration, 30 minutes. I was on a tight schedule and wearing painful high heels so I kept checking my phone often. One woman got so frustrated waiting she just left. Then when they finally got to me the guy refused to cut one of my fabrics out of laziness because he was too tired and the fabric roll was in the back row of about 3-4 rows. He laughed telling me to come back some other time and come back in the morning, I dont want to get it now like as if my time isnt valuable and I should just waste all of this time traveling back and forth and postpone my designing because he doesnt want to do his job.And on top of that the man at the counter haggled me for cash once he saw how much money I had in my wallet. He went so far as to lie and tell me they only accept cash. I said since when? Since I have shopped here before (less than average service but never as terrible as it was this most recent and my last ever visit) He replied Since today. I told him Well then Im not paying. You wasted your time cutting out all of this fabric. He threw my card down onto the counter. Then randomly decided to go outside to cut the fabric the other working lazy guy had refused to. (Probably to make my total charge higher)I run a business that has a fashion design component. I never have and never will treat customers the way they disrespected me and was so inconsiderate. They arent bad people...just poor salesmen/business runners who have lost out on a customer who gave them decent business. I like supporting smaller shops, I think its important for the economy, but thats only if the smaller shops are deserving. They are not.Quick Tip:The $1.5-$3/yd fabric is a deal. But anything $5+ is better bought in Manhattan Garment District. Better service, better info, better quality fabric for similar price range.
Fabric is low quality but its cheep. Dont go an hour before closing. I whent 2hrs before closing i was looking for satin i whent 5 minutes in and when i asked for it they said no sell go as i was walking out i got shoved out. I know its a small buisness but they were so agressive. I did cheak the time and it was still almost a whole 2 hours before closing.
This is actually a pretty good hidden gem in Brooklyn. I needed some invisible zippers and was surprised that they had so many available colors for me to pick from. They had great prices on fabric as well. Definitely check this out if youre in a crunch and cant get to the garment district. This shop definitely has a little bit of everything.
I never would have found this place, on a sparsely-traveled side street off Fulton Mall, if it werent for Google. This is a very small fabric store with a variety of fabrics and sewing supplies - a remarkably broad variety, given their size. The attendant cuts the fabric on the floor and walks it up to the cashier. They couldnt have been nicer. I didnt get the same in-depth discussion and advice Ive enjoyed at Mood or even Jo-Ann once in a while, but I knew what I needed, found it, and made the purchase. Great to know its a 15-minute walk away!
Theyve been there for a while I have nice fabric you have to be able to choose the perfect fabric you want but they have it if they dont have it Ill order it for you though so good shop you should visit it and check it out I have a lot of things you have to ask for them
I want to preface this review by saying I know absolutely nothing about fabric or fabric stores. I only visited this place because I didnt want to go to Manhattan to get fabric for my Halloween costume.I was ignored for about five minutes while I browsed. I finally found a roll of thin, black linen among rolls marked $1.50 and $2.00 per yard. The roll I chose, much like many others in the shop, had no price on it. I brought it up front and the guy at the counter asked me if its linen. I said, Im pretty sure it is. He said, Okay, seven dollars a yard. When I asked him incredulously why it cost so much he lowered the price by one dollar. He did the same thing with the second roll I picked. The entire time I was there none of the staff asked if they could help me. When I did ask for help, they acted like I was a nuisance. I went to Fulton Fabrics based on an enthusiastic recommendation from an acquaintance, but when I left I just felt undervalued as a customer and a little cheated. I guess next Halloween Ill just make the trek to Manhattan or try to find some other place in Brooklyn...
If you are looking for natural fibers and high end fabric, I suggest you go to Manhattan. However, I have always found some really great blends or novelties. They have zippers and tons of trims. The staff is helpful if asked but for the most part they are there to cut and ring up. But with the extremely low prices they have, this seems ok to me!Its on my way home and everytime I find something new!
Hmmm. Now, Im perturbed and torn. Ive never visited the retail location but I called the store and was completely blown off by the store representative that answered the telephone. I had heard and read nothing but glowing, stellar things and reviews by customers but if the treatment I received in my brief phone interaction is any indication of how Fulton Fabrics treat its clientele, I might seriously spend the extra time going to 39th Street in Manhattan before EVER patronizing Fulron Fabrics. An apology is in order but theyre oblivious. Clueless. Fulton Fabrics may have lost a potential lifetime client for not knowing how to exhibit good phone manners and disposition.
I love this store! I am trying to get in touch with the owner if anyone can please let me know how to! [email protected]

2019-05-05I love the price and variety of fabric. Its cozy and a bit of everything can be had from bedding, drapery, fashion, furniture. I gave 4 stars because of the wait you may experience at times however the attendant is really nice and does the most that 2 arms and legs could. It is worth the wait. I will be back for my next project. I love that shop.

2019-02-04I can’t afford stuff from the garment district so I come here right off the 2/3 to get fabrics! There’s a pretty good variety of cotton and polyester fabrics and a few blends. There’s almost every color of chiffon in the back, a generous selection of velvets and polyester lining material, and a small section dedicated to faux leather. They also have plenty of sheer fabrics that are nice for gowns and plenty of solid thicker fabrics with nice drape that are nice for single layer clothing items. The clearance section out front has new stuff rotating in every couple months.I’m not very experienced in telling fake silk from real silk or fake wool from real wool but I just got a few yards of alleged silk and alleged wool for about $6-$7 a yard. I’ll update this review if I ever try to burn spare pieces to see.The attendants were really nice and seemed to know their stuff pretty well; if you ask if they have a certain type of fabric/color/texture combo, they can give you a straight yes or no or bring you something similar. Beware that many of the bolts aren’t labeled with anything so you’ll be at the mercy of the attendants; a couple of times they lowered the price for me by a dollar if it seemed like I had to get more yardage than I originally wanted for a project or if I was on the fence about a fabric. I haven’t had issues with bad cutting and I’ve gone here twice for fabric hauls. Love to just come and browse and get inspired by cool fabrics. If you come at a busy time, be prepared to wait a little for help—but probably not longer than 5 minutes!

2022-02-05I visited here for the first time and was blown away by the low price of the fabric - I had been buying online and this was WAY better value! The gentleman assisting me was great and very helpful, and had everything I needed including some sewing supplies and zips. I left very pleasantly suprised with the total amount, it was honestly a third of what i would have paid buying the same material and goods online. Glad to support a local business and also get a great deal, I will definitely be back!!!

2021-11-08The gentleman that usually runs the shop wasnt there.I had a horrible experience with the young Asian man who was there. He ignored the customers and continue playing in his phone. And when I asked for help, he was angry. When he cut the fabrics for me it was done rigid and carelessly. I shop at this store since I was 9 years old with my mother. She also makes clothes. I continue to you their business for my interior design company. The other customers were given the same horrible treatment, and when I brought it to his attention that this is not the service Im use to when I come here, he then stated I can find another place to buy fabric if Im not happy with his serviceI then told him all he has to do is pay attention to his customers, and not his phone and be a bit more pleasant when helping. He then said again this is my store and this is my phone you can shop somewhere else. I was tempted to leave the fabric, but I have a big project for the holidays.I will only use the establishment when the other two elder gentleman are there from now on.

2018-01-12Small local fabric shop. Inexpensive. 4 stars for its location and prices. Not a large selection, carry mostly cotton, polyester and other basics. Wouldnt expect more from this dying breed. Good for basic needs and suprise finds. No furs or denim or anything like that is kept in stock, doesnt hurt to check in or request. I found a light blue stretch denim (cotton and spandex blend) recently and this textured canvas like material that I found $3 a yd.
