Last Monday my husband and I drove from Carthage to Alexandria Bay to try a different dealership. We had been loyal to Pulaski but thought we would give it a try. Sadly we were told there was very little on the lot in our price range (understanding there is a shortage of vehicles currently due to the pandemic). The sales person we dealt with stated he would call us in a few days with a truck in our range. We waited until Friday and heard nothing back, even after leaving messages. Well today my husband and I drove home from another dealership in a brand new truck, the dealership we had dealt with for our past 6 vehicles. We wanted to venture outside what we knew, and ended up with bad results. I see some reviews praising the sales person we dealt with, I can tell you he didnt want to deal with us and it was all in his demeanor. I work in customer service/sales, and was disappointed. Times are tough and we do the best we can but in sales you have to give 110%.
We went to plenty of dealerships prior and this place, by thousands, gave me more for my trade in. Plus. All theyre used cars (from what I could see) have super low miles. The buying process was done in 15 minutes. Weve financed 3 car now. This was by far the quickest, easiest car buying process. Iv spent whole days in dealerships. It was just ideal. Thank you Chris Carlisle. Definitely will be taking all my car/truck business there from now on.
We just purchased a 2021 Durango with the help of George. From the first phone call to the wave goodbye, this experience was so smooth and it just felt right.George was overall a really nice dude. Answering all our questions, no matter how silly they seemed to us, and making us feel comfortable the whole way through the process. And every time another employee walked by that was seeing us for the first time, they would greet us and ask us how we were doing. This team has great customer service and cohesion.We will definitely be using FX Caprara Alex Bay for all future car needs. We don’t hesitate to call or reach out with any questions or concerns. Awesome dealer with a great selection of new and used autos. Would recommend driving to Alexandria bay to visit FX Caprara Dodge and ask for Chris Carlise as he went out of his way to get me the truck I wanted and arranged for me to test drive it after hours and put together a great deal and delivered it on time as promised!Thanks to Chris, Taylor, Pete, George and Charlie and the Service department for delivering a nicely detailed truck!
My friends and neighbours in Cape Vincent told me to see George Kuhn at the Alexandria Bay FX Caprara Jeep/Dodge dealership. Well, my husband and I were thinking of getting another vehicle, because our daughters car was up there in miles,however it was just a thought until the transmission went out. So we had been looking on line at Capraras in the Bay, and the day we found out the transmission was gone ,this purple Jeep Wrangler showed up on the site.We went in on a Monday test drove and started the paperwork.It is wonderful!!Mr. Huhn and Taylor Caprara helped us make it happen!!Thank you!!♥️♥️♥️😎😎

Jonathan puccia is an employee of fx Capara Alexandria bay and he met with Abigail duffy on 11/07/2021 around 1pm to sell her a pair of rims with snow tires that he promised that would fit her 2020 Honda civic sport that she bought there from fx Capara. He insisted they will fit and will work for her car as he works there at fx caprara as quality control he said.Well abigail takes it to a shop to have them installed and it turns out the rims that Jonathan had sold her were in fact not for her car. They were 5x120 instead of 5x114.5. Upon contacting John and showing him his messages where he told us that they were 5x114. 5 and he promised they fit he refused to refund her purchase and told her to pound sand and then blocked the number from being able to reach him again.I have transcripts and pictures of all the conversationsI just want you to be aware of someone using the name of Fx Capara to ensure that they are telling the truth and act like they know what they are talking about. When in fact he doesnt know what he is talking about and supposedly in charge of quality control there at fx caprara Alex Bay. I had the best experience!! I ordered my car and from the first call from Peter Messina to going in and ordering he was so very helpful and accommodating. The whole dealership was friendly while we were waiting and it was the same when we picked my car up! I can’t say enough good about my experience!!
We had to drive from a bit of a distance since the van we were looking for was at this location. Ben made the experience quite painless and worked with us mainly over the phone so that we could actually bring the car home the same day. We are thankful to have been able to work with him.Update 2021: We discovered speed governor on a trip we took where the speed limit was 80 mph. We could only go 65 mph. We talked to FX Caprara and they worked with us in a new location we went to and promptly paid it once we made the appointment months later.
I Always deal with Chris Carlisle, I Have bought from him for over 20 years. I have been a Jeep person and Chris is a awesome to deal with. He lets me know when a Jeep is in that I might like. Last week he asked me to come down and take a look at one and 3 data later I was driving the vehicle home! The Caprara family is great family to deal with! Wouldn’t buy my car from anywhere else! The whole transition was smooth and easy!

Great service, they kept me informed of what they were doing as they repaired my truck. I highly recommend them if you need work done on your vehicle. When I picked up my truck, the mechanic who worked on it came out and discussed the repair work with me. Great customer service!
NEVER AGAIN. My husband, Gene-Paul Brennan, has been more than patient with this place but I have had it. We will never purchase another vehicle from this facility again. Feel free to read his review but following his update, we havent had the truck back 24hrs and its sitting in our garage dead. I am now home with 3 kids, ruined plans and no vehicle. Their loaner, a journey, which is essentially a coffin on wheels and inadequate for handling three car seats across the back seat. We specifically purchase larger vehicles to accommodate our family and farm, I hope they can explain how I am going to haul all the hay this weekend to feed my animals because I dont see a Journey cutting it. My Pacifica that we purchased from Sun Auto sat outside last night, not in the garage, started up with zero hesitation, its a 2017 with over 75K miles on it and it just out did our brand new F150 that was inside a solid garage and had a complete look over by this place. We are approaching Lemon Law territory with this truck that we havent owned more than two weeks and has spent more time in the shop than in our possession.And another thing; I went to this location the day after my husband purchased this truck, interested in buying an SUV and your salesman walked away from me. Please thank him for me.
Tom Horning my salesman looked for a truck for me for almost two months contacted us every couple days checking in. Awesome experience. Was in and out if the dealership in twenty minuets. Taylor capraras also always makes sure to come out and congratulate you and thank you for your purchase. Did with me and my girlfriend. I just leased a 2021 Dodge Durango yesterday. Salesman Chris was a pleasure to work with. He made the process go seamless! I drove from Syracuse NY and when I got there it was the quickest process, they had the papers to sign and vehicle all ready to go. GREAT experience overall, thanks again!!
Came in wanting to buy a 3rd row vehicle with better gas mileage than our explorer, while at the same time wanting to trade both our explorer and jetta in..not thinking we would be able to do it... tom was able to make the deal happen and not only took both cars but gave us more for our trades! Highly recommend fx capara of alex bay. Taylor, joe, and tom were all quick but efficient and listened to all our needs.
We are very happy with the service that lyle and his crew did on our car . We took it to Bob Johnsons in Watertown and it there a week before anyone looked at it . They then told us it was going to be 747.00 dollars and that they couldnt guarentee that that was the problem. Lyle told us that they could fix it for much less and get it in the same day. We had it towed to FX Caprara in Abay and it was fixed that day it was 200.00 dollars less . We were so pleased that it was fixed that My mom decided to by a new car there . Use to be an awesome dealership. Ownership changed and now it’s horrible. Brand new vehicle was dirty on delivery. Delivery took hours even though they had a week to prepare for it. Service work delayed and then told they can’t replicate the issue yet the issue still happens daily. After purchasing 3 brand new vehicles over the past 3 years from them, I won’t be returning.
Shopping and buying with this location was the ultimate experience. I left with that I just bought a awesome truck, dodge rebel. And got a great deal, high.! The way car buying should be. Im still very pleased and would highly recommend purchasing through this dealership. Not very often you find a good one so when you do... boast about it. We were undecided customers. Not sure what we wanted to buy. Poor George was all over the lot. Sometimes going back to the same pickup 4-5 times before we decided. And the weather was definitely not in our favor. I was in a rental and fx provided a car for me to return rental and to get back the following day to pick up my truck. Made everything very easy and stress free. Buy dodge. Buy fx caprara.
When a car dealership keep your car in there lot of 24 days and the last 4 days in the service on a lift. A total of 28 days. And nothing getting done to itEven when I had a july 6 appointment . And here its the 18 of july. And the car still there.And when you havent recieved a call on what being done or the cost to have it doneHow can you say this dealership is reputable. Its bad enought that when you go there and the service manager tell you that there going to work on it. And then when you go back in a few days to see the progress. The service manager tell you that the mechanic was off for a few days. But they will get to it. And yet its still there. What can a person say or think about your dealership. That just make me thing your stalling. Because Im complaining about your service.
Do not waste your time coming to this place. Its worth the drive just to go down to Watertown, NY and go to a real dealership. I had to deal with every management level possible in buying my truck, and not one good thing I can say about it. Starters, the salesman had one job, sell me a truck, I found the truck online, told him Im interested, didnt haggle too much. That was the only easy part. I arrived to trade in my vehicle, and purchase new truck, the trucks grill was fully rusted, and I just requested a new grill with an LED light as the one that was on the truck was aftermarket with a LED light. They agreed to replace it. No one at the entire dealership (except David the mechanic, more on him later) knew anything about it. So I helped them out, and sent the salesman a link to a replacement that was cheaper than what was originally on the truck. I drove an hour and a half when it finally came in( two weeks later) just to find that the grill they order(OFF OF EBAY and they never opened the box to see if it was the correct one until I was in the store) was the in fact the wrong grill with no LED light. I discussed with the GM Pete to just buy an LED light and attach it to the grill. I call when the grill was supposed to be ready just to find out apparently it wasnt a good idea as it would be unstable, and that they were going to order a SECOND grill. A week later rolls around that grill comes in. I drive BACK down to the dealership just to find out it was cheaply made, and that they would in fact need to put it on a factory grill. Now comes the decision to from Daniel(the manager of service) to just send the original grill to get blasted and recoated. They put a factory grill on my truck and Daniel said itll be 3 days to get done, I said not a problem Im going out of town for two weeks, and he agreed to have David meet me in Ogdensburg to put the grill on before I go back to work. I call as Im headed back from vacation(nearly two weeks later) just to find out the grill is still sitting in service and was never sent away. So essentially I took a day off of work for nothing past when I returned from vacation. I call 3/4 times in the last 2 days to find out if its ready, and no one can give me a straight answer. Finally, yesterday I call in the morning and it still wasnt picked up(although they sent a driver Saturday to go get it). They then call me at 145(Im supposed to meet them at 330) that the grill is ready and to confirm the 330 meeting. I sit in the parking lot for 20 minutes, because they didnt tell the guy meeting me to put on the grill until 3pm that he was meeting me at 330. FX Caprara-Alexandria Bay- I implore you to give David a raise or promotion. I chose FX Carrara in the bay for the convience. I will not make that mistake again. I will drive out of my way to find another service department. I had a Friday appointment and planned to have somebody else pick up my vehicle either on Friday or Saturday. When that person went Saturday afternoon my vehicle hadn’t been worked on! The excuses were flying and when I heard I called and the same excuses were flying! If there is turmoil with employees then somebody should be checking to see what that employee was scheduling and maybe a courtesy phone call. Not impressed and will not be back!
I paid to have my car towed to this dealership, from where I purchased my car from in 2013, after it overheated at 112,000 miles. I chose this dealership over several closer dealerships from where my car broke down BEACUSE it was my home town and I had purchased my vehicle from them. The lack of communication and horrendous treatment I received from the service department was frustrating, insulting and even a bit humiliating. At first, I tried to be patient assuming they would call me when they got to it, but after 5 days I called. No one knew what was wrong. After one week, they still hadnt gotten to looking at my vehicle. When I questioned it, the service manager told me that she was doing me a favor looking at it because I didnt have an appointment. I tried to schedule an appointment, despite my vehicle being in their care for over one week. I was given many excuses that the service department was new and they were acclimating. She assured me she would personally update me. After 2 weeks I went to pick up my car and pay for whatever the cost would be to have it towed. It was finally sitting on a lift. After speaking in-person to a service tech who said they would update me that night, we awaited a phone call. That didnt happen and so after 2.5 weeks I filed a complaint with Jeep. The next day I received a call from the General Manager who assured me that he would make it right. At first I stated that I wasnt interested in trading in my vehicle with them, but he persisted. He asked for a chance to improve the issue. He also stated the service department was having issues. After I agreed to hear his offers, he called back with another Compass offer, to which I replied no. He stated that someone would do some research that could devote more time would phone me Tuesday, after the Memorial Day holiday. I heard from no one. I only knew that my vehicle was finished being worked on because I drove by and saw it sitting outside, they never phoned me to say that it was free to be towed away. I showed up to the dealership today, June 1, and paid for my vehicle. The total cost was $120, during the 3 weeks my car spent on their lot, they spent 1 hour working on my vehicle (75 dollar charge) and filled a fluid (36 dollars charge). On my way out, I stop in to see the GM and I introduced myself, he didnt even stand when I shook his hand. I explained that I was having my car towed to another garage and that I had not heard from anyone after speaking with him. His response, was a simple okay and I walked out. Unfortunately, I am now shopping for a new vehicle, something other than a Jeep. And I will never shop locally with FX Caprara in Alexandria Bay, NY.
I leased my car here a year ago.I prefer to have services at the same place as I lease.This is over an hour drive.I have had 2 service appointments and EVERY APPOINTMENT that I go to the guy at the service counter tells me I am there at the wrong time!!!Ummmmm……no,this is the time you told me when I called to make the appointment.I do not just show up anytime I want to!!!Very frustrating every time!!!!
I bought a used car from here less than six months ago and it has needed alot of repair work that wasnt fixed before I bought it, so I feel a little duped, and that the dealer wasnt honest with me, but maybe it was the car, and maybe they didnt know it would have problems. They didnt explain if anything was wrong with it when I asked, just said they had to fix some things.
Still a year after i bought my jeep from them Im still pissed. I came in with my mom to buy a newer car thats better for the winter so I had my eyes on a jeep and told them thats what I wanted. They kept trying to get me to buy a more expensive car when they said the banker wouldnt loan me 12k but will loan me 18k because that makes no sense at all. Then the guy I had kept giving me dirty looks because I didnt want it, so I told them no to everything except the jeep. Here we are signing papers for it and it took him 3 TIMES to get the paper work right. He kept trying to get me to sign the papers for a Hyundai car instead of my jeep that was 8k more then my jeep and wasnt even the car I wanted. And he kept saying sorry but he knew what he was doing. I was a 19 year old girl who knew nothing about cars and just wanted my jeep thank god my mom was there with me to check out the paper work before I signed them. Then they finally got my jeep on paper and tried to sell it to me for 4k more then the price on the car! Im still pissed I gave this buisness my money. Literally the worst people Ive ever dealt with.

2022-05-08Overall I had a negative experience from the time I submitted a PDF file to the time of delivery. I brought my issues to Charlie Carrara the owners father, because no one at that dealership was willing to work with me or help me with all of the issues I faced during the buying process and delivery. However even after reaching out to Charlie, not once did anyone take care of me or my Jeep. When a customer spends over $82,000 on a Jeep, you’d expect the staff to give that customer the “Royal treatment”. Instead I was shown to my Jeep, than I couldn’t get anyone to help me inventory the Jeep or any of the aftermarket parts that I had purchased like the half doors. I also noted that there were parts missing on delivery in September 2021, I was given their word they’d get me the parts. It is now February 2022 and I still haven’t heard from Chris or anyone at FX about the missing parts from my order.I have 100% been treated better at many dealerships, and definitely treated better for spending a lot less money. So I will say if you’re the type of customer looking for a special experience or to feel like you’re part of the family and that you, your needs and concerns will be addressed and respected; I will assure you that you will not find that type of atmosphere here at this FX dealership. All they care about is how much money their making and/or moving inventory.

2021-10-29Picked up new Ram pickup for Clear Path for Veterans on 1/25/21 at the predetermined arranged time. Truck was ready to go when we arrived at the dealership. Paperwork was completed in a matter of minutes. They went over the controls for the truck and the Fisher plow that was also purchased with the new truck. They paired the phone to the audio system. Happy with the whole experience.

2021-10-03I had heard their ads over and over again about used car values and decided to find out what all the hype was. I was met by Salesperson, Sharon Cullen, and explained to her my situation and concerns.
