Ive gone to Game Star long before GameStop opened across the street. And I still go to either check out the bargain bin, buy equipment for my retro consoles or catch footage of the latest gaming tournament. Game Star also offers a plentiful stock of games and pre-orders, a lax return/exchange policy on used stuff and the occasional (albeit expense) rare find.
First they told me they couldnt give me a price check on my Xbox over the phone and to bring it in. I brought it in and then they say “oh we cant buy this right now the guy isnt here”. (WASTE OF TIME #1) Then after I say I have a Macbook also for sale and they say bring it in. I bring it next day and then all of a sudden the same guy who said bring it in says “oh sorry I cant buy this right now, I cant afford it” (WASTE OF TIME #2) Why tell me to bring something in knwoing full well you couldnt afford to buy it as a business... Wouldn’t recommend wasting your time at this place. Clearly they dont know how to run a professional business.
I was asked to leave my phone number so I could be notified about a game. I never got a call so I called them. Person answered the phone and told me dont worry we have plenty copies!!! I get there about 1 hr 1/2 after the person at the counter tells me We are sold out then another person tries to convince me to go for another version that they had in stock. This place has a few employees but they arent organized at all!!! They looked at each other like idiots. I thought I had found an alternative to giving GameStop my money but its clear to me Gamestar doesnt know how to properly conduct business I will give GameStop my money. They may suck but at least they are organized. Hopefully they will put this place out of business.
I brought my PlayStation 3 here because it wasnt showing on my t.v. screen. I believed they would repair it they just made it worse. I went back to pick it up they changed the lens but that wasnt the problem. After they changed the lens the ps3 didnt read my disc. They told me I have to come back for it so they can check it again. I went back for it today and they said it cant be fixed I went home and my ps3 wont even start. The red light just blinks. I had to end up paying the $107 to send it to PlayStation at least i know it will get fixed there. This place sucks Im going back to since they made it worse.
It seems they’re very rude they don’t pick up the phone they blocked my number from calling them and I’m trying to do business with them if you really need to go buy a game you should really visit pop game i’m extremely nice to them all the time they’re very rude and nasty there’s one employee pacifically and they lie don’t shop there I definitely don’t recommend it👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

2021-10-31Great spot for any gamer in Queens, one of the few stores that still carry a selection of retro & current used & new games. The crew are super cool and are ready to answer any questions. My only complaint is they do not have an online store but then this is store is just one of those you must walk into to be surprised with their selection of titles.

2019-11-13They are all very welcoming and friendly. Professional and light chit chat about games and a warm welcome when you enter. They’re also very knowledgeable about games and will give you the option to call you as soon as a game becomes available! Overall great company!

2019-12-24This place was horrible the asian guy at the video games was very mean and sent off a bad vibe. The store is also a mess, palers everywhere, boxes on the ground, walls are very old. At least the other guy at the phone area is nicer, but the old looking guy at the video games is just not nice. He doesnt know how to run a business at all.

2019-11-04They used to take trades at reasonable prices and been going here since I was a kid and they were on 82st but it hurts to say that now they just go on the GameStop website and offer you the same as them , even their used games are going for higher prices than GameStop
