Gantry Plaza State Park in other cities:
I went here on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 because I havent actually seen the 9/11 tribute ever in real life until now and I wanted to since I googled where Id be able to see a good view of the city and the lights itself. In loving memory to those who had lost their lives because of 9/11 and during it.However, I had also never seen this view from the city in a place like this and it was astonishing, I was here with friends and generally these will probably be the greatest memories Id had so far. I also got to see the coca cola sign thats very popular.
It’s such a beautiful park. I enjoyed the diversity of people in this park. There’s a dog park, several kids park. They also have a nice view of the city. You have several options of food. At night the lights shine nicely where it doesn’t hurt your eyes but you can see enough.
(Long Island City, NY) We love coming to the park! The views are amazing! There are plenty of places to eat in the neighborhood and there’s a ton of food trucks if you want to go real casual. There are several upscale restaurants along Center Blvd with great food and great views. The ferry is here to get to Manhattan and Brooklyn and Astoria. There are soccer fields, playgrounds, basketball courts, outdoor concerts, dog parks, water sprinkler parks, running paths, sand volleyball, bike paths and everything you need to have fun!
As its very close to Hunters Point, you get to enjoy basically 2 big parks in 1. There is so much to do from here you get to see the best view of all midtown. There is a lot of Food trucks in front of the LONG ISLAND sign, also if you walk around you will see the big PEPSICOLA sign, you have enough places for pick nicks, to run around, to sit and chill and enjoy the many things that are happening around.
Its one of my favorite places in New York. This park offers so many different activities. The round lawn by the food area is amazing with all the people working out or just chillin with friends and/or family. It has amazing vibe and offers one of the best views of Manhattan and East River bridges.
What an awesome experience, viewing the Macys 4th of July Fireworks show 🎆 from this location. The park was clean & gorgeous views of the NYC skyline. Everyone from the transit workers to the police officers to the people there to see the show, everyone was polite, not fights/drunkenness, people were cleaning up after themselves/no littering, consideration, the police there were EVERYWHERE but in a helpful/safe way, were friendly, giving ppl directions, joked around w my son.Just an awesome 4th of July, & this was my first time every going in person & Im pretty much born & raised here lol, cant wait til next year!!
Such nice views of the manhattan skyline. I got many photo ops after sunset. After seeing the sun go down and the lights go on you just cant help but take so many pictures. Didnt see that orange yellow sunset i wanted to see but nonetheless a great day to go anyways. I think coming here at anytime of the day is good too. There are also many benches and places to sit. Looks dog friendly saw many dogs walking there owners. Saw only 2 water fountains that the water doesnt look good to drink, too white and not clear enough.
If your a photographer and you dont go here I mean you may have lost grips with reality. Ray Charles couldnt take a bad picture here! This is a peaceful, picturesque, possible good picnic spot? I would take a date here. *😡 Shut up peanut 🥜 gallery! Always clean. Safe. Never had any trouble. Vaguely remember there being some food trucks in the area? Theres hammocks, benches of all variety (stone, wood, flat, curved, in the cut, near the water, in the open, in the grass). An medium sized dog park. Newish Techno Futuristic Library, thats kid friendly and AWESOME 👍😎!!! Massive COCA-COLA & LONG ISLAND SIGNS. Ohh the ferry from Queens to Manhattan, which is interesting touch and inexpensive. Oh did I mention the views at Sunset and Sundown are... Killlllller. From a Artist, or Romantic, or photographic standpoint, IMHO. You may want to ✔️ Check it out...
Favorite park very busy during the acetnoon evening. Many families dog friendly and plenty of food trucks to get something to eat. Perfect for pictures with a backdrop of NYC. Beach tonplay volleyball, picnic park, a turf area to play, two children park including a dog park. Gantry is also has a stop to the ferry.
Havent been to this park in a long time but it has improved and expanded a lot. theres a water ferry stop nearby, plenty of piers for relaxing on the water, one pier is for fishing. plenty of areas for ball playing, playing with the kids playing with the dogs. overall great place with stellar views of the city and beyond. With the warmer weather, there are more people out and about. I noticed the food concession was open last week, also there were groups of kids utilizing the mini beach to play volleyball, i saw groups of kids playing soccer or softball in one one of the areas closer to the coca cola sign. There were also tons of people with their dogs in the dog playing area as well as little kids with their parents in the child playing area. There are various different restaurants in the bases of the highrise towers that about the park, as well as food trucks all around the exterior of the park as well.
As long as Ive been in New York City I had never visited this park, until recently. Queens isnt a borough I venture through often, but this is a very beautiful spot here. This is an absolutely beautiful park, which offers some amazing views of Manhattans skyline on the East Side, along with Roosevelt Island and the Ed Koch/59th Street/Queensboro Bridge! The very known PepsiCola sign can be found here as well. Its a great place to come if you want to relax, as theres seating area with wooden benches to lay out on, along with an area with a table and stool seats as well, or if you just want to capture some amazing photos from this area.Im not sure on how congested this area can become, but upon my visit it was very minimal. It was completely opposite of what you experience at sat The Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Simple location proves to be one worth seeing. Excellent view of sun set, Manhattan, and Queens (aka Long Island). Nice place to go for a walk or eat lunch. There are some tables but they are covered in bird poop so be warned and maybe bring a news paper or something to use as a place mat. There is also plenty of benches and area to spread out. Furthermore there is a dog park!
Great park! This park with provide you with some of the most beautiful skyline views! Also it’s well maintained, very spacious, and a perfect place to have a picnic, hang out with friends, take your children to, or take a stroll. Also the famous Pepsi-cola sign is here! I’ve definitely experienced some of the best sunsets from this park... a must-see if you venture out to LIC or live in the area. Just a heads up - It DOES get crowded the the weekends!
I grew up here and watched the development of this park...Changing a very industrial and factory heavy neighborhood to a flourishing and rich one. Love spending my time here to reflect and think. Also makes for a great spot to have your engagement and wedding photos here.
This park is absolutely great!!! And its greatness does not merely lay in the park itself. Its greatest asset is of course the view on the Manhattan skyline. Every day different, never boring. It is no wonder that this park has turned into a hotspot for photoshoots, wedding proposals and film locations. Its easy to get there with the subway (Vernon Boulevard on the 7 line) but even easier via the ferry (Hunters point South and Long Island City are both in the park).
Absolutely beautiful park. Must visit if you are in town and looking for the best view of the Manhattan skyline. Very well maintained and clean. Over the years it has gotten more and more crowded as people find out about this place... so actually on second thought, please dont come ;)
Lovely spot for a walk (with lots of cloth if you coming in winter). Beautiful views of the New York City scape. Come in the evening to see every lit up or come just before sunset to see the beautiful orange glow envelope the city. The Pepsi is a must see so make sure you walk along the river path and not miss it.
Beautiful River views. Many benches facing the water. Two fenced dog park . Very clean and well kept park. Variety of restaurants across the street. On South side of the park, you wil find places for coffee and casual snacks, bathrooms and beautiful views to the empire state Building.
I wish I knew this place existed when I was younger. The park gets kind of crowded, thats just a testament to how great this place is. There are benches, fields, hills and lots of shade. Theres a dog park, cafe, playground and walkways out towards the water. I love coming here with friends and to take pictures. The whole park is just beautiful and mostly well taken care of. I cant recommend this place enough, just leave it as clean as you found it.
Serenity. This is a great place for mindful walking. The east river gives amazing sounds to walk by. The cityscape of manhattan looks stunning at day and night. The parks and landscaping, sitting arrangements are just great. One of must visit place in NY. There are many open siiting places. Good one for the picnic and just sway by east river walking.
Loved Loved Loved this place! Such a wonderful place of country peace in the city. Great view of the city. Tranquility of the water hitting the rocks! Nice restroom! And a great soft padded play area for the children so you arent worried about them falling and getting hurt. You can relax!
What a very nice park that has everything! Grassy areas for walking, playing ball, biking or just laying down to relax. Theres an area set up for beach volleyball and this park has hammocks! There are hammocks! Theres also plenty of picnic tables, rest rooms, a place to order food and drinks right in the park. The only thing I didnt see are grills for cooking barbecue, but hey this is a fun place to hangout, workout or just relax!
Nice waterside park. There were weeping willows, so I was immediately sold. There was also a small jazz concert going on, which was nice. There are benches, chairs, stairs, and ledges to sit on. It wasnt at all crowded for a Saturday afternoon in the summer, around 4pm.
Very beautiful walk where many wonderful peaceful people are out from all races and ethnic backgrounds to reflect the wonderful multicultural beauty of the best city of NY. I think its recently renovated. You can see the FDR in Manhattan across the river. It has a play area for kids and another area for dogs.Very nice place to have in LIC.
One of the latest additions to NYCs growing list of parks and green spaces blends old industrial relics with new architectural details. Panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline make for a great backdrop at sunset and although you can get there by subway, the NYC ferry ride is the way to go. Theres a dog run, playgrounds, places to eat and a newly constructed path to explore the re-established wetlands.
Queens version of Brooklyns DUMBO. Much needed addition to Queens pier. Spectacular display of prominence. Could have used a little more greenery but still impressive. Love the feel of the Pepsi Cola and Long Island signs- homage to old industrial roots in the modern age.
I havent been to this park in over a decade, but I fell in love all over again. The view of Manhattan is amazing. There are so many areas to lounge and take it all in. This is where the PepsiCo sign is.There are plenty of food options on Center Street. I had a great time.
I used to live in Queens and this park is phenomenal! If youre visiting the city or live in the city, please come here at least once. The park is beautiful and it has stunning views of Manhattan and the East River. Its a great place to picnic, lay on of those large wooden chairs or benches, walk the pier, kick around a soccer ball, play volleyball, eat, drink, and relax. Theres also a dog park at the end of the park.
Beautiful views of Manhattan + pleasant walk along the water. There are plenty of playgrounds for children, grassy areas for a #picnic, and lounge chairs to relax. Recommend going during the day, for #sunsetviews, or for the nighttime lights. The ferries are also very convenient and fun to ride.
Probably the best view of Manhattans midtown from Queens. I would recommend visiting this park during dusk. The sunset makes Manhattans Highline amazing. The view of the Empire States reflection on the East River is amazing. There is a fenced dog park for your dog. For kids, there is a protected playground. Also, volleyball net and Basketball court are available for quality time. I do recommend to visit the PEPSI-COLA sign. It is breath-taking. Street PARKING is hard to find especially during evening time. Paid parking is available almost every other street. Food truck and ice cream trucks are there for your convenience.
This place is great! I dont remember this even existing five years ago, and now its a beautiful park that seems super modern and well maintained! From awesome grass hills to relax and Adirondack chairs to chill in, the whole park is pretty much everything you could aks for. I really loved the ease of the ferry stop to get you easily from there to BK or Manhattan in a few min! As far as NYC parks, this one ir right up there with Central Park as a great place to kill an afternoon lounging - dont forget to hit up the ice cream truck!
What a perfect view and what an amazing place to enjoy New York!Ferry fans?, 2.50$ the trip and it goes out every 15.Dog lovers?, yes please! Water spots and doggy bags waiting for you.Wanna rest? This is sooooo cool! Hammocks, benches, and sun chairs to enjoy the summer time.Kids area? You want it and they have it!The view its everything so last but not least!! Men! Valentines day is waiting for you to get the ring to the girl! 😉😜😬
Nicely maintained park! The playground floor needs to be re-done and is not very safe. In addition, dog owners should respect the signs and not let their dogs run free in restricted areas. Finally, the park gets really loud at night due to drunk patrons roaming around. The state parks department should patrol this area more and make sure the rules are followed to avoid any issues and maintain the quality of the park for years to come.
I love this park! Such a great view of the City and a quiet boardwalk. As a former resident of Long Island City, I was very happy to see how this area has been transformed. I also like the decision to include some of the history of the area in the parks layout (Pepsi sign, gantries, railroad tracks), as well as signs with historical information. Was disappointed that the Tuesday night live music was postponed due to weather (the inclement weather in the forecast did not pan out).
This is a wonderful place to be at especially after sunset. The view of Manhattan looks so gorgeous from here and the area itself is very nice. You could spend some quality time wuth your loved one or sit with your camera and get that awesome night shot of Manhattan or just simply sit there alone to enjoy the riverside tranquility. There are benches on the piers too. For people visiting NY, its a must-go place.
Wonderful park to relax, walk, see sights, play area for children and dogs.Beautiful view of New York and and its waterfront. There also is ferry service at a reasonable price. You can purchase food there that is reasonable and well priced. There are also food and ice cream trucks. It is a wonderful experience for the entire family.
Theres just something about being near the water that relaxes me, and Gantry Plaza State Park is a great place to just chill by the water on a breezy day. There are playgrounds for children and dogs, with some pretty creative and fun-looking playsets. Theres a counter with seats, if you want to watch the boats go by as you eat your lunch. Ive seen some people walk out onto the pier and go fishing as well. You can get an up close view of the Manhattan skyline from here. Its a beautiful spot, all around.
I really love Gantry Plaza State park. It is very peaceful and it has amazing views. There a lot of near by restaurants. If you have kids they have a big playground area and if you just simply want to take nice shots then theres the Coca Cola sign and you can catch amazing sunsets. The views are really amazing. You can catch the Ferry and head to North Williamsburg or 34 st. It really is a nice place to spend time with the family and friends.
Must see when in Queens. Great neighborhood, view of New York skyline is breathtaking. Went at dusk, didnt let us down. Parking is tough to find, so might think of subway or uber to get there. Had to walk about 4 blocks after looking for about 20 minutes until got lucky and found a spot.
I worked construction in that area. I was part of the 1st building to go up in that area... Then a couple years later another building. Never seen it completely done till this year. I was there in 04. To see this place 15 years later and how nice it has turned out with the beautiful views is nice. It lacks parking though on a normal or busy day.
One of the best and low key places in queens and in new york. You can see the whole manhattan lights at night and to its right you see queens bridge. It has one of the best views of the city and greating seating as well. They just set up a library so its great to go and just read books while looking at the city. Its nice to take walks or runs at any time of the day and season. Its a great place to unwind if you dont wanna go too far from home. I love coming here to see the fireworks as well.
THE BEST PARK IN NYC! I amnot even exaggerating. Best time to go is of course spring/summer time. just bring your blanket, picnic basket, foods, camera and relax and enjoy. Such a relaxing spot for New Yorkers since our daily life is so hectic. Oh and theres a ferry nearby so you can ride the ferry too if you close to the ferry stops. And, do not forget to take a mile and a half or so trip down the latest renovated sidewalk. it is amazing! you will not be disappointed.
Park itself is nice and clean. Just with park workers will be more consistent in enforcing no dogs on grass rule. Disturbing trend that I have noticed while living here for past 6 months and using the park almost everyday with my dog is that they only pick on people of certain race and ethnicity. People like myself who try to keep their dogs off the grass and at the least keep them kn the edge of the grass get yelled at while others who are literally walking their dogs on the grass never get picked on.
This national monument was rich with history. Visitors will surely have a satisfying experience here. It was a pretty place to visit and to have a fantastic time. The grounds were wonderfully preserved. The greatest option for those taking responsibility for the outcomes exercises and other leisure activities.
This is a great place to people watch and take in picturesque views of Manhattan with Roosevelt Island in the foreground. The UN building, Empire State, and Chrysler building views steal the show. The nearby ferry will take you to Astoria and the Upper East Side as well as Brooklyn. Food trucks and restaurants and cafes and coffeehouses nearby. Hard to beat this park.
Always a great experience as long as you dont have to search for parking. They also have a Dog Park!!! Beautifull views of the city! Picture perfect natural background for your photos. I bring all my friends visiting NY for picture taking. It is good for kids too, it has a playground, ice cream truck is usually there when I visit.

2022-04-03Its really lovely to visit, especially in springtime. They added more public rest rooms finally. And a nice assortment of food trucks on site as well. The view is marvelous! But be prepared to pay garage parking, as the street is very difficult.

2022-04-01Such a beautiful spot. There’s a doggy area, kids area, an area with tables and bench seating to grab a bite if needed, restrooms and you can grab some food there as well. Can also take the ferry over to Manhattan. The views are amazing. Public Parking is very limited around there, there are parking garages that you can pay and park.

2022-06-05Lots of places to sit and view the city skyline. Dya or night, it doesnt matter. Come down for the views and take pics of the Pepsi sign thats lit red at night. Parking is hard to find though but after 6 it is a little more manageable but better to come by public transportation. Has a small playground as well as a few restaurants close by

2022-04-18One of my favorite parts of living in Queens is visiting Gantry Plaza. The views are unbeatable and it’s rarely as crowded as comparable parks like Brooklyn Bridge park in DUMBO. Also there’s plenty of adequate seating and a Queens Library branch adjacent to the park.
