Outrageously delicious! The people working there were great, friendly, and the service was top notch. I was planning on some TexMex, but I was recommended the fried chicken, and Im glad I listened; it was soooo very good. If you want to try some exciting flavors in a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment, this is *it*.
The quality would of have been great but the food was obviously sitting there for a while before they alerted us it was ready. Very sloppy and soggy. Very disappointed for the price. I’m sure eating there it would have been fantastic. Props for following the instructions though cus I asked for the condiments to be on the side for my 10 yo and they did!! We’ll try indoor next time!
Been desperate for some good tacos in the area and so far I’ve had terrible luck everywhere else, I didn’t want to try this place initially due to the prices but I finally bit the bullet and had some of the best tacos and burrito I’ve ever had. gGenuinely surprised and worth the money if you can afford it. Which unfortunately I can’t, but this will be my yearly treat myself place.
I moved to Binghamton 6 months ago & finally got the opportunity to visit this evening for dinner & drinks. The chicken tacos were delicious! I read reviews prior to visiting about people complaining about menu prices & I’m struggling to understand why… Maybe they just prefer Taco Bell? Everything was priced fairly for the quality of the meal. Something that DID catch me off guard was my margarita was served in a traditional glass, but the entire place had a vibe all its own, so I easily shrugged it off & ordered a second, and I would’ve gotten a third if I had more time. Overall, 5 stars & I’m looking forward to my next meal with you!
Fun time! If you are looking for a laid back experience with great tacos and creative margaritas, this is the spot! Great service, fun crowd and fantastic lounge music! Our waitress was the sweetest! (I forgot her name but she had short blonde hair and she studies at SUNY binghamton....shout out to you!) She was so nice to our children and very attentive!Ambiance means so much especially when dining and an old car garage turned funky fun taco bar is a winning idea! Brilliant re-purposing in the right spot!
I ate here for lunch and my first impression was, this restaurant is in a really cool space! I got the Let Me Talk to your Manager margarita, and it was the most perfect balance of cucumber, lime, jalapeno, and tequila. I ordered the steak tacos with no cilantro. My food came out very fast, but unfortunately giant chunks of cilantro covered my plate. I easily picked the cilantro off, though. The steak was cooked beautifully and tacos tasted amazing. The rice was pretty good, but the beans were quite bland. However, the service was so fast and friendly, and my margarita and tacos were so amazing, I had to go with a 5/5 despite the lackluster beans and unwanted cilantro.
We got your large nachos to share. They were so bland no flavor. And we added shredded chicken to them the chicken was cold and unseasoned which was an extra $6 just for the chicken and the server seemed like she picked a number and was unsure of the actual cost. The server brings the nachos and then goes to get plates she basically threw them on the table at us as she passed by. We did not stay long since the nachos were not very good.
Good Food. Moderately priced menu. Limited menu options but most of the options seemed pretty unique and different from traditional taco place. It is nicely located with a lot of parking options available right outside restaurant. The it very lively place but not a whole lot of seating space. Service was also good. $3 Taco Tuesday special was better than what I expected it to be. They have quite a few draft beer options as well. I will visit again and will definitely love to try some other options that I wasnt able to try this time.
The hostess handed us menus and said sit wherever. It took a bit to be asked what we wanted to drink and the food wait was even longer 45+ minutes. Clearly they made one order and forgot to make the other because one of the two meals was cold. My question is why is the cook sending out food he knows it’s not right? Very disappointed and won’t be back.
This is a good place to eat Mexican Food .The food is very flavorful and fresh . They have an awesome menu selection .You should try to chicken Quesadilla or steak tacos 👌🏼.Staff is friendly , the place is clean , they keep cleaning around .They have tables outside and inside .Definitely I recommend this place .Great food and great service 👍🏼👍🏼
First time dining out (well, outside anyway) since this country got annihilated by the pandemic. Initially, we had some slight confusion with the unusual social distancing practices of this place. But we quickly figured out that ordering was actually through the website.First up was the dip trio: Queso, Guac, and Chipotle salsa. Outstanding. My wife is not a fan of cilantro. Unfortunately for her, cilantro was in both the guac and the salsa, and she thought it was overpowering. I like cilantro, so I disagreed.Next up for me was the Big Mac taco. Very similar, but probably much healthier because, you know, McDonalds. Fresh ingredients, too. Highly recommended! If I ever come back to Binghamton again, Ill definitely come here - mid-pandemic or otherwise. One last note: service was amazing and super fast!
We ordered takeout. The pork and chicken tacos and the quesadilla tasted good but the cauliflower tacos were not great. We did have to separate the orders ourselves, as our tacos were mis matched together in the same containers. When we ordered, we were given a half hour wait time and the food was ready earlier and sat there for a while, so the tortillas were very soggy, more so than I expected with takeout. After we arrived home we received a message that our food was ready.Overall lunch was decent. The problems we had probably wouldnt exist with dine in.
Oof. I dont know who told them to change things but good Lord did they do it wrong. Their spicy cucumber margarita is now a cucumber smoothie with a bit of jalapeno and a bit of tequila. Their cauliflower tacos for some reason have tomato sauce now. Not good. Not recommending this place like I used to
Hip college atmosphere with decent food. Food took a long time to come out but our orders were correct. The chorizo meatballs and garage nacho platter were excellent. The steak tacos were perfect. I personally didnt care for what I assume is canned pineapple in the carnitas. My only real gripe is that the tortillas were burnt. Not charred but burnt to the point it over powered the tacos.
My boyfriend and I have been coming here for years. Tonight we frequented for his birthday. The “spicy” margarita had been changed from muddled jalapeños to blended? Was not spicy at all and tasted like cucumber. The cauliflower tacos used to be great but some tomato base was added so the entire thing just tasted like slightly spicy tomato. Our server was very apologetic about the entire thing but the only good things were the smoked special and the loaded fries. Sad.
Went last night and was very happy. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Atmosphere was great. Cute outside seating with a few gas fire pit areas.I had the base margarita it is was just right. Food was enjoyed by all. Ive been eating vegan lately and they offered some great choices. Went with my son and his girl and it provided an atmosphere that was enjoyable for everyone. DEFINITELY worth giving it a try.
After coming here for the first time (hearing how its good) youre welcomed and given menus and told you can go to the bar or a table. Then youre just sitting their to way to loud of music and no service. And high prices. 16.45 for 2 tacos... not to mention apps and drinks youre looking to pay a ton for paper plates and plastic forks. Left after 15 min of no server or service. Definitely wont be returning.
Had the best quesadilla I have ever had in my life. It was a very busy night but the wait was still reasonable. The staff was still attentive and very nice. Also had nachos queso and guacamole that was awesome. All the ingredients were fresh and wonderful. Great margaritas and great beer as well. Definitely going again
Bar none the best mexican food around. We come here all the time for lunch, dinner, drinks, takeout. Probably once a week on average. The place is clean, the staff are polite, the prices are reasonable, specials are tasty and priced better than usual when normal food items are on special, which is not to say that they dont offer one off dishes because they do! Smothered burritos and garage fries are our favorites but their quesadillas and tacos are often ordered too. The only down side is that they often are quite busy during prime hours. But the waits are usually pretty short in the summer when you can sit outside too. Chills are not a problem as they recently added more space with fire pits.
This restaurant has a cool atmosphere. I love the theme. The food is delicious and felt authentic. They have a great drink selection as well. The wait staff was also accommodating and friendly. I would love to go back in warmer weather and sit in the outdoor patio area. Perfect date night stop.
Ate there yesterday. We ordered tacos. All the Tortillas were burnt in many spots , not charred or toasted but burnt, to the point that with our first bites, the unpleasant flavor of burnt bread overwhelmed all other tastes. ( and yes I know “char“ is a flavor that some people like. Believe me, this was way beyond char. Areas of the tortillas were absolutely black!) Choose not to complain, but instead we either scraped off the burnt areas or in my case, elected to eat the contents of the tacos with a fork, leaving the tortillas behind. Disappointing when a cook chooses to send out clearly burnt food, or worse, thinks that is char, rather than redoing 6 tortillas . Otherwise food was good, drinks were nice.. Service was fast and waitress pleasant. Would give 5 stars except for issue with the taco tortillas.
Awesome bar, outstanding food. Very nice outside seating area (being refinished as of 3/30). Bartenders were very attentive and courteous, atmosphere felt calm and comfortable. Queso had a nice subtle kick and the chicken quesadilla was amazing between the finely shredded pieces and the sauce they added. 10/10 would recommend! Prices were super reasonable for what you received.
This used to be my favorite place to go but recently we went and they have changed so much. You now order at the counter which when its really busy you have to wait. Plus you have a bigger party either you all have to go up or wrote your orders down for one person. If you want or need something else you have to go back and wait. Its not customer friendly in my opinion. The drinks also seemed to change. The margaritas seem watered down. Food still is decent but I feel that has also slipped a little bit. Hopefully things change otherwise I dont think Ill be back.
This was my favorite place for shrimp tacos !! We would come very often until last night. Very disappointed that you need to now get up and order your food. It’s moving toward a fast food restaurant. The shrimp taco used to be medium in size and last night I had to look for them and they were these mini brown shrimp at the bottom. I brought it up to the counter and the guy with the short/ long hair was rude and said they were cooked that’s why they were brown. Really? Then a very nice girl came to our table and said they are using a different shrimp... well never coming back for mini brown shrimp!
One of the best places to eat. Have been coming to this place since last 3-4 years never disappointed but today I got to see some wage inflation effects. The service has changed and now u have to order at the counter. The newbies at the counter seem to be little overwhelmed. Guess Hanna(the server) is the oldest employee still working hard along with the chef if that’s the case and free chips and salsa are also gone which is traditional thing for all Mexican places. The tofu dishes are not the same as before. That’s why it’s 4 stars. But will visit again because there is no better Mexican place in this area.
Charged $52 for four of the laziest, least authentic and most flavorless tacos I have ever had, one corona, a marg that was mostly ice with a faint whisper of tequila, extra hard almost stale feeling tortilla chips and a meager portion of guac. Still tipped. Not satisfied, not coming back.
My first time here and Id say it was mediocre. My husband ordered the the shrimp taco meal and said his shrimp was terribly over cooked. Our son ordered the barbacoa burrito and said it was delicious! It was large and stuffed full. I ordered 3 taco singles. My fish taco was terribly over cooked. My barbacoa taco had good flavor but was completely soggy from its sauce. My chipotle chicken taco was great. The blood orange margaritas were quite good. If I return I will not be ordering seafood.
Beautiful spot, outdoor seating Available if need be (come early). Great dam food and drink especially for people in my age range 21-28. Cheap corona etc and welcoming service and its continued throughout your stay. Amazing restaurant. 5 stars every day of the week STOP here if anywhere coool spot exclusive foods and drink love this place goign tonight!!!!
The food portions are small and way out priced. You order yourself and pay before food or drink comes. Margaritas are so weak and small. While you order your table gets stolen. Im mean poor thought and just there to make money fast. Sucked in my opinion, when do you not taste the booze in a margarita... NEVER!!
The contactless ordering was not ideal. Its was not use friendly. We really wanted to order drinks and then order food, which was more challenging using the phone. Forgot to finish the order and that caused the food to be delayed. Also, you paid for your tip ahead of time. I would never have tipped our waitress what I did when I realized they never actually come to the table other than to drop off the food. They never have us water, checked on our orders or offered anything else. I also tried the garage mule and it was so bad I couldnt drink it. It tasted like cleaning supplies. My friends all tried it too and through thought it was undrinkable.
GROSS!My mom got a sauce bottle for her taco. She opened it and it EXPLODED EVERYWHERE AND WAS BUBBLING LIKE SODA. Got on my shoe, on her purse and clothes and almost in her eye. They never got us a napkin to clean it up and they gave us some terrible churros that were flavorless and greasy as a “apology”Food was also mediocre. Taco bell is better.
Such a disappointment. Came for lunch, ate inside. Floors were sticky. Kinda felt like it hadnt been cleaned since the party the night before. Has more of a bar vibe then a sit down and eat vibe. So maybe I just came to the wrong place for lunch. Overpriced. Got a quesadilla, nice and crispy, but no flavor. $12 for chicken and cheese on one tortilla folded in half. I was looking forward to a nice place downtown for lunch, disappointed to say the least. I think if I went thinking it was a bar, I would have enjoyed it more then anticipating a nice environment for a sit down lunch.
A great menu and atmosphere but the covid ordering is a pain in the rear end.I did return last night February 5th and the ordering experience was 100% better. Any business that changes and listens to the customer is definitely worth going back to. The tacos and burritos were delicious as well!!
We were very disappointed with our last visit. Service was slow, half of our order was served cold, the presentation didnt matter to whoever plated and we waited to eat while the server got us silverware. The restaurant was less than half full. If this keeps up I feel bad for the owners.-Exceptional. The service was very good as soon as we walked in we were acknowledged, all of the servers were polite and prompt the vegetarian options were very good. The corn appetizer is delicious it is mexican street corn without the mess. My wife had a chicken burrito it was very good and huge. I had a mix of the vegetarian tacos they were awesome the aioli sauce is a real nice touch. If you are older and adverse to noise I would recommend going early and be prepared it is very loud.
I was there yesterday with my friends and the staff was absolutely disgusting and non-professional. I had a covering over my face and the lady at the front told me to put an actual mask on when hers was half off of her face. For the rest of the night the server kept going to the manager because he didn’t know what was on the menu. Super long wait and not friendly at all. Management sucks and they need to train their employees on proper customer service. Avoid going here at all costs.
My entire table and I absolutely despise the ordering system. It takes away from the dining experience center and takes a long time to actually place an order.Food is good but unreliable for allergens. For example, the Taco salad doesnt say it comes with crema and the first time I got it it didnt have it but the second time it had crema so I had to ask what it was after the fact and explain I cant have eggs.
Born and raised in Binghamton. Have lived in London, NYC for 5 years and now Uganda. So I don’t frequent often. But about once a year I get enticed to go with local family or friends, and it’s just about long enough to forget exactly how mediocre it is and then be sucked in to try again. Coming back from my longest stint in Uganda yet, I LOVE Mexican and it’s the only thing I was craving. Got the chips flight, the queso is tasty and the salsas are always sad and subpar. Both my carnitas and fish tacos were actually really rough today, really big bummer. Just overcooked, flavorless and mediocre. Dos rios is not any better. Los tapatios was also always a let down. And I’m just dying for someone to come in with with some killer Mexican food! It’s about time for Bing to step their game up.*The good stars are because it’s a good hangout and atmosphere, place to get drinks with friends. Just keep your expectations low, or don’t eat & just drink!
Taco night was so good here! The service was fast and friendly. The menu is expansive and everything we had was very good. The taco Tuesday special taco was the most complex, delicious pork taco Ive had. My partner is getting her tattoo finished up next month and we fully plan on hitting Garage Taco up again!
Fun atmosphere, daily specials, good drinks, good food! Currently, while dining in, you scan a code with your phone to pull up the menu, then order online with your table number. Single, unisex bathrooms, which are always very clean. Friendly staff that adheres to current guidelines regarding the pandemic.
No favor dryest tacos of ever had in my life. place seemed clean and friendly enough although it took us an extended amount of time to order through their website I dont get why I cant just order through a menu like a normal place. it didnt work to the point where we had to ask the waiter to just order it normally.
Food - 5/5 Everything they make is absolutely delicious. Much better than Dos Rios. I wouldnt say its super authentic, but its definitely Mexican inspired/fusion. Who cares as long as it tastes amazing. I recommend the fish tacos and their fries.Atmosphere - 4/5 Place is small and cute. They have local artwork hung up that changes every once in a while. Clean and tidy, nothing special.Service - 5/5 Waiters and waitresses are all friendly and veterans of the food service industry. Fast and efficient.Price - 4/5 Tbh a little on the high side for tacos. Back in LA tacos go for max 3$ per taco.
Normally Garage Taco is one of my favorite spots, but I was very disappointed in my last visit. taco salad with matcha cauliflower and it was very good, and a side of beans and rice which were uncooked and inedible( normally a favorite of mine) There were no spoons available and service wasnt the best. I wanted to let the establishment to be aware of these issues so they can improve upon them and remain open.
While I love the amount of vegetarian options this place has, the. Roja California as a protein was SO sour-for all 3 entrees (two smothered burritos and one quesadilla)! The rice was undercooked and a little raw to eat.plus, the roja cauliflower quesadillas and burritos had some sort of peel (maybe a pepper?) that tasted like we were eating plastic. Sadly, we couldn’t even finish half a entree today The tofu taco was good but a little too sweet. I’ve had a good experience before, but this was not it.
So far so good! I got a burrito with Mexican fries in it and the tofu wings just out of curiosity. The burrito was great. Lovely grill marks on the tortilla and it was packed full! A lot bigger then Chipotle burrito and a lot more personalized. The tofu wings were good. I was just picturing a wing but made from tofu, it was not that. It was like a triangle shaped thing. That was a little disappointing. But their menu looks amazing and looking forward to going back to try it all! Oh I also ordered take out. 15 minutes later I was enjoying my burrito. Only down side I can think of is the lack of parking.
Passing through on the interstate, we stopped in for lunch. It was Taco Tuesday, and this place was just the ticket. Wife and I had different tacos, all of which we loved. She had the loaded fries and enjoyed them, myself less so, shes always prefers a spicier flavor than I.I will eat here again.
Great food and even better atmosphere. Tacos are served with rice and beans and you can mix in a third taco to add variety at a small price. They have an outdoor area with large picnic tables and they are pet friendly. I arrived with my dog and they were incredibly nice, accommodating and friendly. They actually arrived with a bowl of water for my dog before my own water which was sweet and made us feel truly welcome with our pet.
Food changes from time to time. I loved street corn when it was actually on the cob and truly roasted. Now kernels in sauce which hides roasted flavor. Churros were thin sticks warm served with Carmel and chocolate sauce, this time fat sticks kind of chewy with good cinnamon flavor but just a drizzle of chocolate. Disappointing. Lets hope they dont change the margaritas.
Thur night and the place was crowded; obviously popular. While the food was good, the service was awful. Sat at the end of the bar because I was told itd be faster than waiting for a table. Waited and waited for the male bartender to take my order of two tacos and a beer. He was more interested in getting a credit card to start a tab than providing good service as that was the last I saw of the bartender. Another girl brought my food and some hot sauce and that was the last I saw of her as well. No one bothered to ask how my food was, can I get you another beer, etc even though there was a flurry of activity directly in front of me. I might have had another beer, but decided against it; too long of a wait. I even had to ask a third person for my bill. I wonder if they ask people sitting at the tables for their credit card before they can order food, too. I travel and therefore eat out often and at a variety of restaurants. While a restaurant can have great food, they also need service to match.
Usually we dont do delivery, and Im sure that amongst all thats going on that its been difficult for them to make deliveries. However, my family and I had been fasting all day and we ordered ahead of time for the food to be delivered so wed eat as a family. When it was delivered, two items were missing. They hadnt even been made yet when we called back.Food was great as usual, but we were pretty disappointed that the delivery wasnt put together.
I ordered the the Facebook featured Gallon of margaritas and “huge”nacho platter for $60. Margaritas were great although not quite a gallon ( who’s counting) but the huge nacho platter left some to be desired. They were good but certainly not what we were expecting. Huge platter signifies all the toppings and enough for a few people. Thus did not measure up. Didn’t feed more than 2 toddlers and no meat topping etc. Disappointed. At any rate, trying to support local so thanks for being available, Garage. Will be back in when things are “ normal “😉 .
Very cool space, indoors and out, and generally good vibe. The food was good - but a little pricey for what it is. My main complaint however is the service. Friendly enough, but slooooow. Our burritos arrived before our appetizers, and we sat waiting for our wings and check for maybe 20 minutes. When I finally flagged down a waiter, he told us oh, we dont have wings today, someone shouldve told you. Indeed.
Tacos are okay but those wings were terrible. It is loud and the waitress couldn’t hear the orders. The atmosphere is cool and fun. The outside seating area is nice as well. The food was not great especially for the price of 11$ for two shrimp tacos. Which were okay but the quesadilla was below average. Wings again terrible. The fries were really good tho!
While the food was fresh, and serving sizes were decent the wait to get a couple of tacos was a took a bit longer than I would have anticipated for a Tuesday night, it happens. The former auto repair shop-turned taco joint is a cool concept, and both the dining room and bathrooms were very clean.Like I said, the concept is cool and the food is decent—will definitely go again.
I had my first experience there last evening. I was pleased that you could choose 2 different tacos. I ordered a fish taco and a chorizo taco. Both were good. I asked the waitress if they had mango. I like mango on my fish taco. She told me they did not. I then saw they had a pineapple-mango salsa that was offered with the special (shrimp tacos). I asked if maybe I could have a little of that salsa for my “1” taco. I was told that that only had enough for their specials. A little disappointing.
Omg. This place is everything. I love the design and the lay out of the building. The food is everything. The staff is super on top of things. We ended up waiting a little bit for our food, but honestly, we didnt really care. But they did. They brought out free dip and chips to hold us over. But the wait honestly, wasntbbad at all. Ill definitely go again.
Been here several times. The service is a little slow (only reason I wouldnt give it five stars), but the quality, arrangement, and uniqueness of the food here is phenomenal. Its clear that they use high quality ingredients and that they make a point to ensure that every dish will look good when it comes to the table.
I was interested to see what this restaurants portions and atmosphere were like. Thankfully, not disappointing overall. Unlike Dos Rios, the portions are sizable enough to be satisfying, and the food is pretty good / reasonably authentic. I am pretty sure I ordered Sauvignon Blanc and got a red for whatever reason, though. The amount of space is probably the biggest drawback to coming here, especially now that theyve closed their outdoor seating for the year. Theres just not much space inside, leading to a pretty noisy, packed dining experience, although still not as noisy as Dos Rios. Theres also little parking to speak of. Prices are high-ish without being crazy, in line with any fairly artisan / boutique eatery like this. All said, a very solid and satisfying experience, and I would definitely go there again.
This was my first visit, my daughters rave about it, as did a coworker. I do not eat meat so I was especially happy with all the vegetarian choice, sorry the cook the fish in beer. With that said I had the three with side salad. I had the shrimp, cauliflower, and black bean and plantains. My favorite was the cauliflower it was delicious, next was the shrimp and I mixed them, my least favorite was the black bean, the plantains were raw in the middle, and it was way to many beans, but had excellent flavors but my bread was soggy to point of breaking. I love that salad, but would love a sweet dressing. I definitely will come back.
In town for a dentist appointment. Drove an hour. Walked in, they told me u fortunately they arent doing walk in orders and was online only. I said okay went back to my car, tried to order and their online wouldnt work because their was no cash option. So I called she took my order over the phone, said about 15 minutes. I go pick my order up and ask if its possible to get a drink also, they told me unfortunately they are not accepting cash, and told me my food was on the house. Dopeeeeeeee. At this point I was kinda annoyed but they fixed it, and the tacos are so good you wanna smack yo mama
Willing to try it again, probably not ordering the same thing. I ordered a taco salad, the lettuces they used was the weird dark green oak tree shaped one. Not my first choice for a salad, I think the mixture of their sauces and the lettuces was interesting taste toward the middle of the salad I had to pick the lettuces out. There was no cheese on it either which every salad needs!
If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars, I would. I visit here usually every 2 weeks, for multiple reasons. First, of course is the food. I can highly recommend everything on the menu, but mostly their burritos! The garage burrito is KILLER. Not only is it HUGE, but everything about this burrito is wonderful. Indescribable. Just try it.-The guac is probably the best in the area. It is thickkkkkkyyyyyy. Nothing is short on portions.-The staff is wonderful. Always recommend and is very attentive.-Drinks are great, always!Indoor & outdoor seating is great, especially in the summer. The atmosphere is super cool.-Just go here.
The music was too loud for my taste, but the food and drinks are made with care, the front of house staff is incredibly friendly, and they didnt mind my kilt, so were all winners her. Prices were good for food, but as always drinks were pricey. Drink at home folks, and dont drive afterward.
Visited for lunch during restaurant week. The decor was eye catching and matched the name of the restaurant. My friend and I got the chips salsa and roasted red pepper soup to start, shrimp and carnitas tacos and for dessert a margarita and sopopillas. Everything tasted great, especially the tacos. But I was very disappointed that the starter, entree and dessert came out on the same plate and the servings were small. I was not aware of this before ordering. It obviously was just for restaurant week but the waitress did not make it clear. Happy I got to visit this restaurant on a large discount. I would like to return to have a full sized/paced meal.
The atmosphere is really cool but the food is what really matters. My first time eating at Taco Garage I ordered the shrimp taco and it was a 10/10. The second time I ordered from taco garage the shrimp tacos were terrible, the shell was very stale and the cook left out a couple ingredients that were present my first time purchasing it, like the pineapples and the cabbage. Every Tuesday and Thursday I get Taco garage for their shrimp tacos and more often than not the food is awful but I keep coming back in hopes of receiving the same amazing taco I received my first time eating at taco garage. Dont get me wrong sometimes they get it right but most the time they dont. I just wish they were consistently serving great food.
Food and drinks were great! Good portion sizes and flavor. Staff seemed nice. The only thing I didn’t like was that the table was wobbly and in the middle of traffic in the restaurant. Constantly had people squeezing past me which was annoying and took away from the experience.
Update: this place is bomb. I come here every single time I’m in town, and I live in California.Surf n Turf Tacos: 😀Fish Tacos: 😍Fried Avocado: 😍Tofu Tacos: 🤯Cauliflower Tacos: 🤯Chips & dip: 🙂Mole burrito: 😐Margaritas: 🤪Noise: Its a loud bar, but not unexpectedly loud. It fits the vibe. Service was alright, and they had Quingo (trivia/bingo/???) The night we went. Lots of fun!
The environment and outdoor seating is great. The bar has local beers, which is a nice touch. Im looking forward to seeing the vartiety expand. Id like to see a lot more for the portions. The tacos are pretty small for the price; not really enough for dinner. Also would really like to see the use of resuable dishes. The plastic and paper containers for everything are pretty wasteful.
A unique twist on Mexican food. Always something new and unique on the specials. The street corn thats on the regular menu is off the cob which saves the mess. But the special I had tonight with the fried chicken had it on the cob. Messy, but well worth it. The churos are served with whipped cream, which is a simple but nice touch. They open the garage doors on nice days, which gives the place a cool breeze and a nice relaxed vibe. Parking is limited and service can he slow on busy days, but thats life.
This place is fantasic!! My wife and I travel all over the place. And when we travel, Mexican food is required. Id have to say this is one of the top 3 Mexican restaurants on the east coast. My burrito was huge, had great taste and was cooked perfectly. The small, yhin cur fries on the side was a good treat as they were crisp and perfect. My wifes fish and pork tacos were great. Definely going back whenever we are in the area!!
Good, pricey taco. Tastey food, they do it well here between the tortilla shells. i recommend the horchata cinnamon drink if you are not in the mood for booze... its like rice pudding transmuted into a refreshing summer drink.this place is popular with the college crowd, surprising no one. Service was good, outdoor seating was great and they let us have our well behaved dog join the show out there... they even brought a water bowl which forces me to pad the tip, i cant help it!not the biggest place so its likely close quarters when the college kids are roaming the streets and looking to belchfire up some south of the border goodness.
I went to the garage for the first time with my friend and ordered 2 tacos with steak and chicken, and chips and queso to share with my friend. The chips and queso were good, but for $4 and to share with my friend it was very small. I feel like they could make the portion of queso bigger, charge $6 and people will be happy to split that with a friend. The chicken and steak were delicious, and the tacos overall were good. I wish they were a little bigger for the price, and was confused as to what to do with some of the things that came with it. I was hoping we would get advice on what to order because it was our first time there. The beer selection was good, but my friend waited at the bar for 5 minutes before anyone came over to her, and the bar wasnt very busy. She ordered a strawberry sangria which she said tasted more like a four loko in a fancy cup. The food overall was pretty good, and the atmosphere was definitely worth going back to. I would just like to see some small changes in price, size and customer service.
Absolutely the worst place Ive been in months; the food was expensive for its size, literally the smallest taco Id ever had, the soda had so much ice in it that there was literally two sips of soda before it was empty, even after we had requested no ice, the rice seemed plasticy and lukewarm, as if reheated in a microwave, and finally, the wait time wasnt too bad, if fifteen minutes for a baby sized taco isnt too bad... Would not recommended to anyone, in fact it is so not recommended that we called our brother in law to tell him not to waste his time nor his money on our way to a better restaurant.
Stayed at Hilton and found garage around the corner. Looked like fun and decided we would sit and drink and eat there for the night... 3 people asked if we were being served while waiting for our first drink.. Promising! Then Young kids running the place ignored our empty glasses at the bar for 15 minutes until we gave up and went back to the hotel bar. Someone else at the hotel also said basically the same thing. Food is good but service is just not there. To bad.
We got there at 5:00. There were 3 tables of people when we got there. Otherwise empty except a few people at the bar. It filled up after we ordered. After am hour and 15 minutes still no food. Had to leave. A few in my party stayed behind and the food came about 90 minutes after we got there. They texted and said it was pretty gross
Great spot!! On a long road trip and nneeded to stop for lunch--Google suggested The Garage, and it was a winner. Easy to get to from I-81, and has a small parking lot (paid street parking otherwise). Really good food, staff is terrific, and the vibe is cool. Bonus- Happy hour is 2-6 M-F!! Two big thumbs up fornThe Garage.
Fantastic. Garage is the best Mexican cuisine ever!!! Love it so much. It is very delicious and innovative. We loved every minute of eating in this fun place!! Server Briana was friendly and efficient. We liked her. She brought all the kinds of hot sauces my Youtuber son Jason Rupp and I enjoyed. Decor is interesting. Nice happy crowd when we went on a Saturday afternoon. Very good music playing. We came from the bus station. It is only a short walk. We sat inside. But outside is seating also. We would consider a special trip from New York City just to return we loved it so much. Our bus stop here was from Corning, where we were at a Travel Bloggers Exchange TBEX conference. Must stop here. We had Breakfast Burrito and also the yummy Hashbrowns order.
The food was great and Mike was an amazing waiter, there was a 30 min wait to be seated and 30 to be served but its understandable since its resturant week, but we did call in multiple times to get a reservation a day before. Therefore 1 star down. Unfortunately because of the impatience of if a particular waitress, one more star was lost. There was an incorrect order on our tab that she refused to help with until we had to call Mike over. He fixed it in two seconds. Mike is the one wearing a bandanna. Hes a great waiter and just a friendly person altogether. Hes making the other stars worth it (besides the food).
Been here once before and had a great experience but the second time we went we sat for 45 min with no food, ended up having to cancel our order when they told us our food was still 7 tickets out and we had somewhere to be. They were busy so I understand a bit of a wait but that was a little extreme!
Food was actually pretty good. We tried these tacos: carne asada, pollo shawarma, carnitas. We also ordered the gazpacho soup and the chips & guac. The soup wasnt very soupy, but I had no issues with that (loved the amount of cucumbers). The chips were great, but we couldve used more guac (the guacamole was gone before 50% of our chips were gone). That said, portions could be a little better, for the money, but I was pleased with the dishes. Took 45 minutes to get our food, but Im sure thatll improve. Ill definitely be going back.UPDATE: Ive been back. Wait time has improved, but theyve changed their chips. Now theyre just bland. I guess too many people complained that they dont like good chips (e.g., they way they used to be).
They serve tacos but dont expect to find an actual taco. Not very good. Very expensive. A great place for friends of the people who work there I suppose. Not a great place besides that. Oh and we were driven out by bees both times we tried to give this place a chance. Dont bother. Yuck.
Granted Ive only had food there once but, my two tiny tacos took literally a half hour..maybe 45 mins to come out. My biggest thing is that an establishment advertising as a taco bar specifically should make the masa tortillas. Also, Id expect a liquor license. Other than that, the atmosphere is one of the coolest in the area. They are super in tune with the music scene and most of the bar tenders are awesome and the chef phil is wonderdul! Im looking forward to their future (Im picky af)
Started off with a coke that was flat with no ice the ice water they gave us didnt even have any ice. They forgot my fries & the chicken taco was so not worth the price cold chicken with lots of purple cabbage . Cool atmosphere but not the worth the money your paying not even a alcohol beverage .
Great place with a great history. This location was the original owl taxi garage. Original taxis were basic green with white lettering I believe they ceased operations in early 80s. But we still have this original operations site and dispatch area here now is a great restaurant

2022-06-30Great place for lunch or dinner. A good variety of food (including vegan options if thats your preference).Over a ciuple visits, weve enjoyed both the white and red sangria, the Garage Fries and the Garage nachos, smothered burritos, and FANTASTIC tacos. Shrimp and Fish were my faves. The environment is neat, unique. The service is great too.

2022-06-07Atmosphere, awesome.Food, great.Specials, superb.Service, atrocious.Don’t go here if you’re in a hurry. Very long wait, over 20 minutes before anyone ever even came to our table. And you feel like you’re an intrusion to the staff who are all gathering and talking behind the counter when you need something. Sorry for putting you out by needing some drink refills, won’t happen again. And this was all on a slow day, I’d hate to see the service when this place is hopping.

2022-05-27We were suggested this place by some locals on a stop for dinner working our way up to Northern New York. Lovely atmosphere, staff was friendly and the tacos were sooooo good. I got the shrimp tacos, fries, and fried avocados. Ill definitely be stopping by again if Im in the area again to try their other tacos.

2022-01-22I’ve been past this place a few times but finally had a chance to visit and I’m glad I did. The atmosphere was pretty chill and the shrimp tacos were really good, loved the sauce (which seems to be made in house). Great drink specials too, can’t wait to dine-in in the warmer weather.

2022-07-03We were in Binghamton and Garage was close to our hotel and dog friendly and oh yeah we love tacos and margs! It had just rained but the staff was kind enough to give us some towels to dry off the outdoor seating. We were starving after a long day of traveling so we ordered chips and queso, a shrimp taco meal, Barbacoa taco meal and the absolutely necessary margarita. The food came out quick and it was good. The chips were fresh and the queso was creamy and had just enough zip. The taco meals were filling and had some yummy rice and beans to accompany the tacos. The shrimp was cooked well and was flavorful. The barbacoa was tender and flavorful, the twist is that it was cooked with Dr. Pepper. On top of the delicious food we had an amazing experience from the wonderful staff. They were beyond attentive, kind and checked on us several times. They made sure our dog had water, we had enough chips and beverages and that we were enjoying our meal. The host was actually a cook who was not able to cook right now due to a wrist injury but he was a phenomenal server/ host and even brought out some yummy home made hot sauce that is made here on site. The only bad part of this meal is that it’s not close to home.

2022-06-25Decent craft beer selection. Good food. Local vibe. Service was good, despite it being busy. Definitely a better place than the city it sits in.

2022-03-27The food was good, and the prices were good, but I dont understand why the side salad is $8 and the entre salad is $13 and they are served in the same tray and are completely identical.

2022-02-25Great tacos. Fast service. Lots of gluten free options if you need that. Sweet Chipotle chicken tacos are fantastic. Unfortunately, we went back a day later and the place was closed even though the posted houses said they should have opened an hour earlier. No sign. Lights on but nobody answered the phone or the door. Very unprofessional. If you have an emergency or a staff shortage please have the courtesy to tape a sign on the door.
