Garcias in other cities:
They give you chips and salsa to start with, we added Quac for $4 and change. They were little stingy on the Quac and chips. Its ok were all having tuff times. I Had the chili verde and that was very good. My wife had the taco salad and she liked that. Place was clean waiter seemed upset because he was only waitstaff on all day even though there was only 2 other tables to be waited on while we were there.
Food is good, servers are great, love the burrito deluxe Supreme. My wife loves the taco carna avardo. But sometimes I get a manager I think hates me i have no ideal why. First time order with this mgr was incomplete and wait was like 45 minutes then had to go back. Second order I walk in the door first and he serve the guy whom arrives about 30 seconds behind me. Just rude. Thankfully, the lovely servers are great as is the food.
Excellent, authentic Mexican. And if you order a margarita, order the large - definitely the deal of the dayUpdate: back again for another visit. Sitting at the bar this time. Have to say the jumbo (aka large) margarita is a little week and sour. Watched the waitress pour two light shots into the glass. Ordered an extra shot and she only added an ounce rather than full jigger.
Very good& clean family place to eat. Very good food. Typically traditionally authentically Mexican . We loved it. Some one who likes to eat spicy this is the place. They also have vege options. The churos with hot chocolate is the best dessert here. The sea food tacos are all very delicious and comes in huge quantity with sides of salad or rice.
On a friends recommendation, I stopped in for the macho burrito. The thing must weigh 2 pounds. I chose steak and fajita style vegetables and spent the next hour thoroughly enjoying the gorging. I stopped in late afternoon on Wednesday and it was lightly populated. Fast and friendly service and my order came with free chips and salsa like any good Mexican restaurant. I also have a full bar and drink specials.
Just a great place to eat all around. I used to like their old location but I really love the new location more. Ive been there several times and I always get a great meal and great service no matter how busy it is. I really enjoy the margaritas that they make. They have several different styles and they even do pitchers. I really like their quesadillas but you cant go wrong with anything they make
We ordered soft tacos, they were tasteless. The ground beef wasnt seasoned and the icebergs lettuce had a funny taste, we ate them so we wouldnt waste food. My 11 year old said the tacos we make at home are way better. I ordered a Margherita, said yes when they asked if I wanted salt on the rim, it came saltless and what tasted like tequilaless as well, and it cost over ten bucks. The drink was more than my entrée. Sorry to say we wont be going back, no where near the same expierence as before the place relocated.
Very good, but can do better next time...I ordered carryout for my family and me and drove to a random spot to eat in our car as is our tradition. (Gotta love CoVid.) The food was aMAZing and the price was very reasonable. Staff were friendly and prompt, the restaurant looked clean... everything one would expect from a great restaurant. One glitch, though. By the time we stopped to eat, (5 minutes away, and our order couldnt have waited long for us to pick up, as we called it in 10 minutes prior to arriving), my food was completely cooled to ambient temperature. My wifes food was fine. Considering the above conditions, however, we still recommend Garcias, trusting that the food temp problem was an anomaly for them, (one that is easily rectified if you are dining in or check your food before you leave), and we will be back to give them a shot at a revised 5 star rating.
Very good! Friendly staff and it was quick. Way more food than I could eat for a good price! Please consider not serving plastic straws anymore since they’re not too great for the environment, but love everything else! :)Quick place to pull over for a meal if you’re passing through like I was.
They need to figure out a way to secure those beach umbrellas, which would be blown onto the street if winds become gusty enough. The waiter acknowledged the problem and promptly took it off my table, perhaps saving me from another Mary Poppins moment. Also, you need to protect your food from “curious” bees - they will try to get a taste of anything and everything. But that’s a given in most outdoor dining space these days.I usually judge a Mexican place pretty hard by its fajitas, and this place delivered at a great price point. The food is seasoned well and generously portioned. Service is friendly.
Second time I have ordered food for my family. Second time they cant get it right. If you order anything different than whats on the menu you will not get it. I ordered a burrito not smothered in sauce they literally put some meat in a tortilla and still put something all over it nothing else at all. Would not recommend at all. I love home town food but your honestly better off at taco bell
Very good food, great prices. But it can be a little off-putting if you havent ever gone to a Mexican restaurant before. Make sure you ask exactly what is in/on the item you are ordering.but once you know what you want/like its great. Fast service good food and prices, and the chips and salsa are free, delicious, and bottomless!!
We came here for a a very special Birthday all the way from Binghamton because we was told how great the food and service was. Well we had a very different experience. The food was nothing like the Garcias in Horseheads NY. And the services was horrible!!! Thanks we wont be back and my reviews are well liked by Google :)
The entrance is wheelchair accessible. I was able to get in with my standard size manual chair, but it was a little tight. A wider chair might have a problem. There is a public parking lot less than 150 feet away, with a paved sidewalk from the parking lot to the restaurant entrance. The food was very good. This very unpretentious restaurant was very authentically Mexican.
Great atmosphere, great people, great food!! We went out for Valentines/Birthday dinner, only had a few minute wait for a table. They brought out a special desert for my birthday and convinced me to try it, which is not like me. I was very satisfied and will return!!!
Great Mexican food. If you love Mexican food and want quality, eat here. Im not a Mexican food fan, but when a friend invited me I couldnt pass it up. I ordered the chicken quesadillas and they were deliciously juicy. Plus back in grade school we went on a Spanish field trip and they had the best desserts.
Food is okay but service is ridiculous simply because they get so busy you can’t even get refill or ask for drinks because they never check on you. Definitely should have more personal on the floor. I wanted to catch a buzz but it’s clear this place was the wrong place to go for drinks ...
I loved going to Garcias when they were located on Route 13, but we visited the new Main Street location and were very disappointed in the atmosphere and service. The old location we were in and out in 30-45 minutes but could stay and enjoy company if we wanted. This time, we had a reservation but the staff seemed puzzled by that when we walked in and then told us we had to wait so long for our food because another table seated next to us was a reservation..... The new location felt like it was a bar still, very cold and cramped, and the music was too loud to have a conversation with family sitting a few seats down. It was extremely disappointing as the food was always delicious but probably will not return now due to service and atmosphere.
The food here is really good, with very generous portions. Im not qualified to comment on the authenticity of the food, but it definitely tastes good. The service has been very friendly every time weve come for dinner, and food always comes very quickly after we order.
The plates were so hot that it burned my fingers. My son was given a plate so hot that I couldnt touch it to slide it away. The food was terrible. Absolutely disgusting. I wanted authentic Mexican food and the food was either very over cooked or not even made correctly. The service was terrible, and it wasnt until i began to yell out in Spanish that me and my table of 5 were given any attention. Never again will I go there.
Wasn’t the experience I was promised by a local. Mexican food is usually a very safe option with people with food restrictions however, especially if you’re vegan or vegetarian, avoid this restaurant. The server seemed irritated with my questions even after I expressed that I would be very sick if meat or meat products were in my order. Absolutely no idea how to serve eatable food to non-meat eaters, which is so out of the ordinary. Rice on their “vegetarian” menu is cooked in chicken stock. Food and service cannot be trusted if you have ANY sort of dietary restrictions.
Early dinner (when you work 3rd shift). Something light. Shrimp poblano dinner with guacamole salad. Skipped the chips and salsa, rice, and beans. Very tasty. Good burn from the pepper. I would have detailed the shrimp but they were well prepared. Next time lunch so I can get a full meal.
The food is absolutely incredible!!!!!! I would have definitely given 5 stars, but our waitress was rude and terrible at her job. There was only one other table of two besides our family of 7, and no one at the bar. I had to walk up to the bar to get things for our table three times (no exaggeration). She didnt pay any attention to our beverages which were obviously empty for quite sometime, even after walking by our table multiple times she didnt offer refills, I had to stop her and ask for them. Also it was my girlfriends 21st birthday and after giving the waitress her ID, her words were oh its your birthday? in a rude tone that sounded as if it was an issue that it was her birthday and did not even wish her a happy birthday or anything... But the food was so good and their portions are large so we will definitely eat there again despite the horrible waitress!
New menu okay. But both the menu and the website show the incorrect opening time. They really open at 12:00 noon every day (not 1100). They have also changed there chips which used to be thin and light. The chips now (and the taco shell) were much heavier and less tasty. Used to be 4 stars.
Went there last night due to the favorable recommendations. Lived up to they hype. Big plates of great tasting food and reasonable prices. Had the quesadilla and husband had the chimichanga. Pint of Dos Equis only $3.50. Not bad and best Mexican food Ive had since leaving TX. Highly recommend.
Garcias has always been great, still is.I love their carnitas, and the little things like the refried beans and their rice that is done right.Daily specials, authentic recipes, great food and service.Garcias is the real deal, dont waste your money at some fake microwave Mexicanish reheatery.
I used to really like this place but I was pretty disappointed with my most recent visit. They raised the prices on their food which is unfortunate since the food has not improved at all. I also purchased a Cheese Quesadilla and when it came to the table it had American Cheese in it. It was really gross and I couldnt eat it. When I told the waitress I couldnt eat it she took it to the manager who took half off the Quesadilla. It was a $2.50 Quesadilla. So no, its not breaking my bank to pay $1.25 but I shouldnt have had to pay anything for that disgusting Quesadilla. Especially one that would have been so cheap for them to make considering it was one floor tortilla and American Cheese. I dont think Ill be coming back to this restaurant if they are going to be so stingy and not put customer service first.

2022-02-19My daughter and her fiancé just moved to Cortland and we decided to try. The staff could not have been friendlier, and we each got a different meal and were completely impressed with the amount, presentation and taste. Just fyi, the Mexican pizza is a FULL size pizza, not personal size, but so fresh and yummy 😊

2022-01-17Last night was such a wonderful experience at Garcia’s. It was my wife’s birthday and they were super accommodating, helpful sweet and just above and beyond. We came in with another couple for a quiet celebration. They made the perfect amount of ‘fuss’ and just made us smile.Such nice people. Owner, staff, and food were just amazing.I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!!!

2022-05-06Wonderful food. I moved from Austin, Texas to Colorado and now Upstate New York and have been searching for years for a restaurant that would fill the void that tex mex left and this fits the bill. It immediately tastes like something I could have gotten back home in Texas, which is to say delicious. 10/10

2021-05-02*Portions are large and the food is both fresh and delicious! It was our first time so we werent sure what to expect. Lots of food options on the menu (although my husband was sad there were no tortas and no cecina). The tortilla bowls for the beans and rice were a creative serving idea, too.*Kids menu is kind of limited, and no substitutions were allowed--my son loved his adult-sized meal and was happy to bring his leftovers home with him.*Didnt take pictures of the churros, flan, or deep fried ice cream because they were eaten so quickly :)

2022-07-01We love Garcias, it is always a must have when we are in Cortland. Their food is very affordable, though the alcohol is a bit on the expensive side. That said the food is fantastic and comes in huge portions. Nothing is ever dry and they are good about catering to spice preference. Will always recommend and always come back!

2021-05-04After looking for lunch for HOURS and trying several places (covid has very much affected the restaurant industry), I found THIS gem. A smallish family style mexican restaurant. It looks unassuming from the street, but let me just say. HOLY WOW were myself and my significant other blown AWAY. From the 1800 tequila pitcher of margaritas to the queso and the DINNERS🤩🤩🤩 Even the refried beans were drool worthy! It wasnt very packed when we arrived and only three staff to be seen out front. The waitress was very kind and moved quickly and efficiently. It filled up quickly, and given that it was a Sunday afternoon, we took this as a great sign. All of the hours of waiting and driving and getting hangry were SO worth it when it came to this gem! We will MOST definitely be back as this is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Thank You Garcias!!

2022-03-06Had high Hopes based on the reviews I read but was a bit disappointed. I ordered the 3 enchiladas with rice and my girlfriend ordered the chicken fajitas. My enchiladas were cold the rice was bland and overcooked and sizzling hot fajitas platter was loaded with soggy tomato strips. Overall not impressed. We ordered the fried icecream to finish on a high note but after the waitress returned from the kitchen.... it was sold out. 😖
