My husband and I had a pond/waterfall installed this summer, we could not be more pleased with outcome! Tom Smith designed the pond and the crew came and worked their magic. The team at Garden State Koi and Pond are all true professionals! Excellent service all around!!!
Garden State Koi is a wonderful place for all your koi pond needs. Everyone there is knowledgeable and eager to help. I needed a new koi pond company because the man Id been using retired. He referred me to Garden State Koi. My pond water was so dirty and brown. So I made an appointment, my first, with Garden State Koi! Tom set up the appointment for me and Chris and Daerick arrived on time this morning and took my fish out and put them in a tank that they brought and thoroughly cleaned my pond. They even brought extra filters and supplies that they thought I might need. The result is magnificent. Not only were they good at their jobs, but they were so pleasant to deal with. They get 15 out of 10 stars from me. I am so glad I found them! I will never again worry about my pond!
DisgruntledI have not seen into the water of my pond since using Garden State Koi for maintenance - nor have I seen a single fish where there had been many! It is now a forever mossy/murky mud pool.The service paid for has not been provided. After multiple complaints a technician came recently for no more than 10 minutes and dumped some dark pond cover in the pond. Never returned or followed up to see that it did nothing and the algea shows right through in an hour, and it returns to its muddy brown. And no, it hadnt rained in many days - that is not the issue. In addition, horribly lax on returning calls. Since the owner wont return my call to discuss the issue, and Ive paid in advance....buyer beware. Disappointing.Nice office staff and sympathetic on the phone - but doesnt translate to any results. I give up with them.I must apologize to my previous provider as I can now appreciate the work they did on the pond. We used to enjoy many hours at the pond looking at the koi and flowers, but now dread many hours on the phone trying to get results, and anywhere near back to what we had.
The owner was very generous with his time. He helped me address an emergency situation that I had with one of my Koi fish. I really appreciate it! These are the type of people that I like to do business with! Thanks again!

Their very helpful in explaining and helping me to understand whats best for our Koi pond. We love our new koi and a couple of Golden fish. Very nice selection of Koiwith a beautiful setup of ponds for the Koi inside. Many decorations to choose from for our pond. Pumps ,heaters filters and selection of fish food. I had my pond installed by Garden State Koi - the work they did is amazing. My backyard looks like a resort; the crew were totally professional and courteous. I asked for several extra favors and they took care of them without extra charge or any problem; very accommodating. I have been to the store a few times and the plant and fish inventory is huge. I was able to catch one free pond opening class which was excellent. I learned a lot being a brand new koi pond owner; I frequently call the store and always get answers to any questions. Tom, Eric, Tim -- all great to work with. Definitely recommend Garden State Koi.
Pretty bummed at my experience there today. Saw the reviews and was pretty stoked to go and check it out.This weekend I started making a waterfall for my backyard, I did the research, rented a machine, and got to work. After I was happy with my foundation I drove down to get the pump parts. The kid I dealt with showed me a few waterfalls at their place and kept trying to sell me on the whole job with an install. I explained that I had an excavator already on site and i just needed the pumps/liners. This got nowhere as he tried to sell me a 16k waterfall (not even joking)I firmed up my response and told him i just need a pump and components. I believe his quote was that he could get me the stuff as low as $4,500-and gave me a magazine of waterfall images. I left pretty pissed off and bummed since I had pretty high hopes for this place.Stopped at lowes on the way home, got everything I needed for $400, literally 1/10th the price. My total cost including machine rental was about $800, far short of the 5-10k waterfalls I was trying to be sold.Long story short, unless you are rolling in money, probably best to shop elsewhere. Real bummer...
Garden State Koi installed a disappearing waterfall at my home last week. It is so beautiful! We enjoy hearing it and seeing it every day and each night, when the lights come on. Yesterday, a group of five birds was taking a bird bath in the waterfall and I was completely enchanted. Highly recommend this company and truly believe that this was a great investment in our lives and in our property value!

I felt it necessary to leave feedback on our experiences with Garden State Koi, particularly Luke, Fred and Mary.We are Certified Aquascape Contractors from Massachusetts and could easily purchase our products from other Certified Aquascape retailers. And in the past we have. About 2 years ago we made a decision to do business with these folks. There were a few reasons we did this. One is because they have everything we could ever need or want in their store. The second reason, and most important to us, is the reputation they have for excellent customer service.I gotta say its been one the best business decisions weve made. Whether its been an issue with a product, questions about fish, or anything pond related, these guys have been there for us. There have been times when weve needed products shipped directly to our clients or needed products ASAP for a project were doing, these guys have always taken the time to make all our problems go away.Heres my opinion as a pond owner, a customer and a business owner.If you own a pond and love caring for it yourself thats great. There may be times you have questions that you cant find the answers to about your pond or fish. These guys are the pros...call them. Thats what they love talking about!But maybe youre looking for someone to care for your pond so you dont have to worry about things being done right. These guys have been trained by the best in the business on all things pond so you can feel good about them caring for your fish and pond. They absolutely love what they do and it shows in how they treat you.And as far as designing and constructing ponds and waterfeatures....they are by far some of the most beautiful Ive seen. Each pond is a One of a Kind creation. Abominable. Owned by Aquascape so you will be sold aquascape products whether you want them or not. Price gouging because they are the only game in town. Maintenance mgr who boasts decades of experience but doesnt install the correct piping on a pump. Delivery charge (years ago) of $95 no matter the distance. My home is 58 seconds from them. If I knew they were going to charge me $95 to deliver, would I have picked it up myself? Never mentioned. Arrogant, rude, habit of insulting customers.
As a contractor I work with a lot of retailers and distributors, but none compare to Garden State Koi. In addition to carrying everything I need for my water features and getting it to me in a timely manner, the people here really care about doing a great job and making sure all their bases are covered. 2019-04-16Garden State Koi is the best place to go for quality service , knowledgeable, and polite staff. Tom Smith took the time to answer all of our questions, and truly rocked our world 2 years ago with our beautiful pond that Tim & crew built. Tom Sandstrom & Kori cleaned opened my pond today. It looks amazing , and my fish are happy & healthy. Ill keep on going back without a doubt! Thank you to everyone at Garden State Koi for making life so much more enjoyable. : ) .....

2020-07-13Last week we went to the store right before closing to look at their ponds and DIY kits, Ethan was soo helpful, attentive, and nice we decided to buy the 6x8 DIY Kit and now we have a pond! Beyond happy, still need to add goodies to the pond and landscape but wanted to put in my review. Extremely happy!

2021-10-25The gentleman behind the counter was so knowledgeable and patient in answering all my questions. He never tried to sell me anything I didnt need. He advised me how to keep my fish alive over the winter and how to reopen the pond in the spring. I definitely plan to return in the Spring to restock my annual plants.

2017-01-07Tom Smith and the Garden State Koi guys and gals are like family to me. I have known been a satisfied customer there for over a dozen years. Tom and his professional team turned what was a very unkempt, rough, frequently dry, natural pond, into a beautiful 80 X 100 living showplace that is by all counts, the hallmark and focal point of our property. Willow Pond is surrounded by a swath of Cedar trees, blessed with a rich variety of land plants & water vegetation, home to all kinds of wildlife and inhabited by a gorgeous array of wonderful Koi fish, who are clearly the main attraction and the stars of the show. As for maintenance, (very important) Tom Sandstrom and his crews do a great job. Always there when needed. Good guys. Summing up, Willow Pond is a resting place,.a fun place and, above all, a gathering place. We love it. .

2021-05-18A tremendous resource for all things pond-scape. Fish, plants, hardscape. Broad assortment of water treatments, and the knowledge to apply them. They do construction and maintenance as well. First rate knowledgeable staff. We rely on their products and advice year round.

2020-12-22Gsk dug my main pond 21 years ago. thereafter they installed a smaller pond and a stream. the work was beautifully done, with great personal service and care. in the years past they have provided all maintenance and we have been delighted as with the installation. two weeks ago a pump was out. i contacted the head of customer care as i was worried about the ice freezing over and my fish being at risk. he was away for the week but said he’d see to it. at 8 am the next morning a crew was at my house and replaced the pump. this was not unusual or surprising. it’s how they do.
