So i just got back from gateway we did the pirate trail and the forgotten road drive and I gotta say the pirate trail for what I was charged was not good at all. I fully understand covid and all but then dont charge so much and just do the drive through I honestly was so disappointed and I go there every year sometimes multiple times I love what they do but the pirate trail is not worth it.....but on the other hand I loved the forgotten road music only issue was finding the location everything is so dark and theres no sign no light absolutely no indication where to enter. But once we found the entrance 10 minutes later and almost missed our slot the rest of it was amazing I loved it. It was scary and creepy and just an awesome experience I recommend the forgotten road 100% just really bummed about the pirate trail.
This was our first visit to this haunted attraction and without a doubt it was the best weve done. We arrived early at 7pm when they just opened. We barely waited before going in and it was a great time. The actors were energetic, cool animatronics, special effects were awesome. Our group including kids from age 11 to 14 and they had a blast. I will definitely come back again. Its a great place for a great price. Highly recommended.
Just drove 45 mins to come here and was told my friend who are not vaccinated can not come in. This is Long Island This isn’t the city. Do not come here. I’m not anti vaccine I have the vaccine I’m anti discrimination against peoples rights. Huge disappointment. Truly disgusting if u ask me. You lost me and my friends from ever coming again.
Unfortunately it was quite lackluster. Gave it 1 star because the price was good and 1 star because of the 2 jump scares.Otherwise i felt like there were many missed opportunities to be scared. Most of the actors were just standing there doing nothing. Trees and bushes everywhere so not sure why they didnt hide and scare us from there. Instead they were standing next to their props looking silly. On top of that, lighting was too bright; every car practically had their high beams on so you saw the actors before they scared you. I wish they made sure all cars had their daytime running lights on and their headlights off.
I had high expectations for this drive thru haunted house because I attend the walk-thru on any normal year, but my experience was sub-par and unorganized to say the least. The rules were no stopping at any time, stay in between 3-5mph, and don’t lose sight of the car in front of you while keeping a good distance. The car in front of us continued to step on the break whenever actors were present, making it extremely difficult to follow the guidelines, but then proceeded to scream at us to move back, even though there was a line of cars backed up behind me. There should have been people making sure everyone is following the guidelines throughout the whole 1.5 miles. Because the car kept breaking and coming to a complete stop multiple times, we were unable to see any actors as they would walk right by us to set up for another vehicle. Definitely not worth $60 including fees.
I lost my voice… that’s all I have to say 😂(That one room with the hanging fake bodies might have been the most scared I have ever been in my entire life. Got separated from half our group in that part an it was terrifying pushing through the bodies 🤣🤣 absolutely phenomenal job gateway on the walk through this year!!!)
I went with my girl and her friends the other day and we had a fun time. Make sure you play the audio cause that definitely enhances the experience and keep your windows rolled down, it makes it a lot more fun. Im glad we came and hoping to visit again with some of my friends soon before it sells out
Went through Gateways haunted drive through the other night and was impressed with all the effort they were able to put in during a pandemic. It is not your usual unclose and personal haunted house but it is a great attraction during this crazy time of covid. Lots of actors, about 30 minutes long. Happy that during this time I could get a little haunted thrill from the safety (covid) from my car.
Did both drive and walk thru attractions and was very disappointed. I had high expectations because I came here last year and it was amazing! I understand we’re working with what we got because of COVID-19 but all of this kinda felt put together at last minute because they didn’t know how to do the indoor haunted house to meet safety guidelines. The drive thru had no actors whatsoever, mainly just odd props around to look at. Also, most of the “scary” stuff was on the passenger side which left me (the driver) missing some events. The walk through also didn’t have many actors either. There was so many spots they could have hid in and did a jump scare but didn’t. It was also very short and the ending will blow your ears out with that loud noise. Not sure why they didn’t have somebody chase us out. Also make sure you look at your tickets because the drive thru is at a different place, maybe that was bad on my part for not doubling checking.
Definitely the best special effects out here. Fun activities to do while you wait. However the experience would be so much better if the groups were smaller an less frequent as the actors an props dont have time to reset in between parties, missed a lot if good scares because of it. Also having a bunch of kids with no parents directly behind us pushing into us screaming an arguing the entire time kinda ruined the experience. Like I said great special effects good actors but way to over crowded in the haunt an unsupervised kids ruined the experience for me. Maybe it will be better next year
So disappointed. I love this place but last night there were really long period walks where nothing or no one came out and scared us. Could have filled in the absence of people with more machines or props. At first it was enticing then after a few times it didn’t seem right especially since I’ve been to this haunted house before. My friends made the experience fun.
I was here last week for the night haunted house with a few friends. It was the most boring haunted house I have ever been to. Today I cant to the not so scary haunted house with my girlfriend and her young daughter. I have to say that the kids haunted house was much better then the adult haunted house. I was here last year and it was great. I feel this year was a waste of money and time. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
We started the drive as the last car in the line of our group. The car in front of us completely lost the car in front of them because they were breaking at every attraction in which we were told not to do. The actors had no time to reset so they would either walk past us or starred at us. We went at 10:30 so the actors could have been tired but for 60 dollars plus fees I expected more because I love gateway walk throughs.
I have been to gateway haunted experience in the past and it was incredible. We just did the walk thru brigand’s run this year... Unfortunately It was not worth the price of admission this year... I Understand that Covid has its challenges to run an event.. However, it was So short and hardly any actors.. so disappointing after having such a good reputation in the past...
I dont know what happened this year. Last year I went and loved it. I Invited a bunch of my friends via my recommendation and it was such a let down. They only had 2 actors outside entertaining people as we waited for our number, a bunch of the props that worked last year were just off and doing nothing, and the spacing was awful. We basically just waited on line within a haunted house. It just sucks because I hyped it up from last year, and my friends left confused as to why I would want to go here.
You cant get a better haunted house. Gateway has it all, from every imaginable prop to actors who know how to play the part extremely well. My husband and 3 sons (ages 23, 20 and 17) were impressed. Went on a Friday night. Takes almost an hour to get through the winding pathways filled with horrors in every space. Theres also an outdoor area with refreshments.
I have gone to gateway for the past 4 years and was so looking forward to another scary night but tonight was a big let down. They put too many people through close together so you could see the actors scaring the people in front of us. There were not as many actors in all of the rooms and seemed like alot of missed opportunities. All the right elements for this place to be scary but it just wasnt. Also did not enjoy the theme and seemed like mostly kids as actors. Sorry to say but this was very disappointing.
Went last night and had a great time. My 13 year old daughter got too freaked out in the beginning so the actress ally said she would sit with her and calm her down. The sweetest girl ever, wish we could’ve gotten some way to communicate with ally but we didn’t have enough time ): overall a great and scary experience
AMAZINGGGGGG!!!! I went last night with my cousin and had a phenomenal time! It blew away any haunted house on Long Island hands down! The whole haunted house itself was about 30 mins long unlike these 10 minute ones. The actors, the scenes, the make up all the props were so cool and I’m not one to be scared but the way they scare you and the teqnique made me jump and scream every time! I really like that while your waiting you can sit relax, have a drink it makes the experience a lot more pleasant!
The not so scary was also not so exciting. Very bland not a lotta thought put into it. I did not see one mini super hero or mini anything. Not much of a story line either. Very short and kinda get rushed through with hardly anyone there. Maybe people called sick that day.
Went there two years ago. When u first walk in u have to wait in a theater. There were little girls sitting on top of seats and its dark. One was leaning back and by mistake I touched her hand which was holding her up on seat behind her and in front of me. I apologized, it was dark and I never saw her hand. This fat 20 year old gets in my face and says u not gonna touch anyone else right. I really wanted to just knock him out but i looked at my date who was super excited to be there and, just looked back and said for second time to him, it was a mistake, I will not touch anyone else. A couple staff in general seemed rude. Cant remember if it was security or tickets or what. Next weekend I took another chick to shmitts farm in mineola. Much better and all staff was super nice. Even intentionallyt ouched a staff member and they had no problems. I intend to take another chick this weekend to spooky walk in center moriches. Forget this place. I expect not be threaten by fat kids whow are mad cuz they only get one lunch break. I think he was like the owner son. Had to be with that attitude.
I literally almost shiz my pants. My throat hurts from screaming so much. I’ve never been to a haunted house like this before. I’m at a loss for words. This place needs more publicity. A million times better than bayville. But I also like the no lines :) but anyway this place was so intense I can’t believe I didn’t quit. At one point it smelled so awful I started gagging ugh
Place was awesome dont know what the review below me is talking about, they have numbered groups to control the size, and things to do while you wait. If you feel your im too big of a group there is plenty of time to get lost inside our group of 6 immediately seperated to our four and even lost half of our group for some of the 45 minute haunt.Yes thats right entered at 815 and didnt get out until 9pm. Great actors and costumes. Well thought out. Visual effects to play with your senses and over all just a great time. All the work that goes into this place is defenitely noticed. Would defenitely recomend checking this place out.
I live in yonkers, hour plus drive.. worth the drive worth the wait, worth the investment, more than what i expected, brought my friends that have gone to other haunted places, but this one had a much better experience, i normally laugh my a** off and clap at all the scary stuff but this place actually scared me, very impressed, they do a good job in bringing an all around experience, cant wait for next year, hopefully they change it, will go back
Went with 5 people last night we all were very disappointed the actors just stared at us as we went through and the ones that did make a sounds did a terrible job it felt like the actors didn’t want to be there We have been going for years this was the first we didnt enjoy it

2021-11-01OH MY GOD! Went there with my boyfriend tonight and it was so much fun! Im not a fan of scary things but decided to give it a try and I dont regret it. Very elaborate house with different scenes and rooms, didnt expect the outdoor part. The actors did an amazing job scaring us, I lost my voice. The decor was also very cool! Highly recommended! Also they required vaccination cards and masks and I think its a very good thing!

2021-10-03We had a great time here, we go every year & this year was particularly impressive. The people working it are absolutely amazing, everyone is so polite & helpful & genuinely nice. The actors are great, they really get into it & the set designs are awesome! Lots of fun new rooms & excellent props & decor.

2021-10-12Used to be such a great haunted house for each year the quality of the props and the food/drink options have severely declined. Used to be a tradition to come every year but this year will unfortunately be the first year we do not come. Save your money and check out Schmidts Farm, such a better option and cheaper! They have amazing options for children during the day and awesome options for adults that scare the heck out of you but this place went downhill quick!

2018-10-27I enjoyed it as always and was fun and scary. The actors and actresses were very convincing and I like that about gateway. It was worth the price as well because it seemed to never end. Bought online tickets five minutes b4 entering

2020-10-19Always love their haunted house, this year obviously things are different with COVID-19. We opted to bring the kids to the not so spooky walk. It was pretty lame and quick. There was really not much to see in the walk. The actors/actresses were nice and fun. Would have liked to see maybe candy at each spot or some sort of decorations, something to excite the kids more. In the end we didnt mind that it was short, with little content, because we were really there just to support them during the pandemic. We look forward to when things are back to normal and we can get the full experience. I encourage everyone to go so they get the donations they need to stay in business.

2020-10-11Me, my girlfriend and her sister were excited to go to the new haunted drive through experience. We’ve never done anything like this but it seemed like a good idea with everything going on. We were so excited to get scared and have a fun time. Upon entering into the queue of cars we went into the drive through very quickly. However I think it was pretty lackluster overall. I only got genuinely scared once at the very beginning. The cars were so packed together that you could easily see all the actors and there “scares” before they got to you. Also most of them were just standing there making weird noises and looking at you... not scary!I feel like there was such a missed opportunity with the scenery to not put more actors behind trees or in bushes to jump out and scare you. Instead they just stand there. It was so not scary I can’t even say it enough I was just laughing the whole time and me and my party felt thoroughly disappointed as we were looking forward to it. Drove an hour each way from queens for this and it was a complete let down and felt like a waste of time. Just got home and going to put on a scary movie that will hopefully do a better job at actually scaring me.

2021-10-30If I could give this haunt no stars I would. They take your money for actors that are lazy and not even dressed properly. Now. you can say your following covid protocol all you want. But the truth is I went to other haunts and they followed the guidelines and still put on an amazing show with great actors. This haunt did not. 60$ After tax for the forgotten road and that’s the best you can do? A haunt in the middle of the woods and that’s the best you can do...? Save your money and go to literally any other haunt on Long Island. Dark night li was really good also Schmitts farm actually knows what they are doing. I had my younger sister and her boyfriend in the car and they were laughing at your actors. So embarrassing. Also I just tried to give them constructive criticism on their Instagram and they blocked me/didn’t want to hear it. Anything that has the name gateways attached to it I will never attend again. I wouldn’t even waste the gas in my tank to drive through that again.

2020-10-12The Forgotten Road was a great experience overall. The five stars is for the effort that everyone put in. With the CoVid19 pandemic we are in, I really appreciate the folks who gave my family a great time. This is especially recommended for first time Halloween thrill seekers and kids. I would not normally go to place just to pay someone to scare me, but this is a good middle ground. I had no expectations but we came out happy because it gave us bits of everything Halloween themed. The settings, the sound tracks, and staff did the best they could. I guess you cant please the hardcore frequent Halloween thill seeker because they have expectations that need to be met. Thank you again for giving my family and I some Halloween fun at these crazy times.

2020-10-25I visited with my husband and two kids, 20 and 15. We were really looking forward to this but we were all very disappointed. We drove close to an hour and then waited about thirty minutes, which would have been totally fine if this was even a little spooky. But it was not. It seemed as if they were extremely short staffed. We saw a limited amount of actors and most of them seemed to be disinterested in their roles. We were unable to get a time slot until 11:15 PM. I’m guessing that since the actors seemed young, maybe they had to leave early. The scenery was done well, but the story was not cohesive and the staff seemed done for the day.
