Dear Geico Agent,I reached out to your office on 3/8/21, providing ALL the necessary paperwork requesting that my automobile coverage be terminated.I followed up on my request, specifically asking for a lead time for processing, only to be directed to the corporate number for assistance.Today, is 3/22/21, and Im being billed for a premium I do not owe.As recommended, I called the corporate number several times! After 10 minutes of being on hold, I hear ringing several times, then my call is routed back to the cue to wait another 10 minute.In my early work experience, I was a, NYS licensed P & C broker and agent, and became very familiar with the internal processes.So, this challenging experience with trying to get a very simple termination processed really gives me pause and raises concern about your company.Ive always been current with ALL billings, have a clean driving record, a STELLAR loss ratio rating and creditscore. The only claim ever filed was for a windshield repair. Ive required zero servicing, except on the initial inception of the policy and now, for the termination.Youre office is the only Geico location in the Albany area. The next closes one is in Saratoga.So, it truly surprises me the cancellation request could not have been processed by your office on 3/8/21.You are the local Geico office! Im confident someone has been getting paid commission for the length of time I been insured with Geico!This experience is disrespectful to me as a customer, both on a local level and national level.As a local agent, in the Capital Region representing a national company, I expected to receive better service.Ill be sure to share my this experience with my friend and family, throughout the Greater Capital Region.Good customer service goes along way!
I have been using Geico for many years. They have been nothing but great for me personally. I have never had issue with either of my policies for car and motorcycle. In fact I now have my homeowners insurance coverage with Geico. I guess adding coverage speaks for itself. I definitely recommend.
I did a quote online and received a call from Jake. He explained my coverages (which I was very happy with) and made the process of moving from Plymouth Rock to GEICO very simple. I basically kept the same coverage and my premium went down. I love the GEICO App and online portal.
Shabby company and their accident appraisal sucks ! At least in Albany NY area. I tapped a 2012 camaro at a red ligjt. The rear PLASTIC BUMPER COVER was loosened . They totaled the car !!!!!!! My fault 100% I agree , but to total a car that was already in another accident ....I disagree 1000% !
I have been trying to process an insurance claim for two and a half months with my local geico representatives and this entire process has been an absolute nightmare. When the claim was first made we paid extra money for the check to be overnighted to us. This was almost the full two and a half months ago and we still have not received the check and when pressed about it Geico refused to issue any sort of refund for the money we paid. We’ve called so many times asking what’s going on and every time we just get told “sorry our mailroom is backed up because of COVID”. For two and a half months??? Yet they can send me mail about every other part of this process! The only reason I’m not homeless and jobless and car-less right now is because I am fortunate enough to have family who offered to help. If it weren’t for them my life would be ruined because these people can’t get their act together long enough to mail the right letter. Now, after calling for two and a half months we were JUST told today that they “lost” the title for my car that we sent them and we cannot get the check until we send them a new copy which we have to pay for and the postage we have to pay for again to send it again. Geico refused to reimburse for this issue either. Why were we not informed of this issue a long time ago??? Also when I called their sales department to get a quote for independent car insurance the agent who took my call literally refused to help me understand what information they needed to get an accurate quote. Refused. I understand things are slow thanks to the pandemic but this is just completely ridiculous. At this point, I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy.
I had a representative named Jake Teller, he made the whole process very easy and explained it so well, he is a very easygoing representative, not only did he get me all signed up with car ins and rental ins but he was very personable and a pleasure to talk to. Geico exceeded my expectations and is a million times better than my old insurence! Thanks again Jake!
Be careful when they tell you autopay is setup: The man I spoke with assured me it would be taken out of my account automatically and it never was. I had no car insurance for 7 days before they contacted me and charged me $40+ dollars to reinstate it at a 25% increased premiumDont trust them and make sure you check what they promised. Will have a different auto insurance by the end of the month.
The process to switch to Geico was great and hassle free. I however am having an issue and it’s very frustrating. My monthly payments are due to come out on the 30th of every month however this month they just decided to take the payment out on the 13th of January. The customer service representative was very helpful with getting me a refund but insist that there isn’t anything she can do to get it refunded on an emergency bases. I explained that the money they took was for my car payment and that everyday that the car payment was late i am responsible for a $40 late fee. She said that there is nothing that she can do because it’s a standard 3-5 business day period before the refund will be issued. So now not only do i still have to pay my car note I’m now stuck with at least 3 days late payment of $120 that’s if i get refunded within 3 days. After explaining my frustration to the representative she replied with well if you ever need an extension on your payment you can request it ahead of time. At this point i feel insulted first off i don’t need an extension i just need for my payments to come out when they are expected to not when they want inconveniencing me and now I have to come out of pocket extra money which i don’t have. I plan a strict budget every month for my bills and this is going to throw my budget way off. I’m so very annoyed right now
I just change auto-insurance to Geico. An agent, Steve, was so kind and well explained the policy, which made me think that I made the right decision. Compared to another company, offering is less expensive and affordable. I share it with friends And they love it too. Thank you.
I’m in sales at zappone in Clifton park. We are a high volume dealership so getting insurance done fast and effectively is a must. Jake has helped me many of times with customers looking to start their first policy. He’s great to deal with. Would highly recommend him and the local Geico official to anyone looking for a competitive rate and great customer service
I had them for 6 months and I hated it. The gentleman helping me wouldnt even review why my insurance was so expensive or even answer my questions. Then when my six months was up they didnt even do what was asked of them they cancelled my insurance. I would not recommend going g here for any type of insurance.
Ive been working with Connor Lind at the local Albany office for some time now and I have had an absolute unbelievable experience. Everything is done in a timely manner, and its done right the first time. I cant say enough good things about Connors knowledge within the insurance industry as well as his customer service skills.
Scam Scam Scam !!!!!!This insurance company was charging me an outlandish price for a minimum policy and even dropped my coverage without my permission putting my life in danger ... if I had by chance been in an accident I would have not had the coverage I asked for and could have been sued!!! They are robbing people blind and saying they give the best rates well I went to a new company today and got triple the coverage for half the price. I would advise any one using this insurance company to get quotes from someone who will actually try to save you money. I am absolutely disgusted with this poor excuse for an insurance company they are robbing hard working people for no reason .
I did an insurance quote online almost 2 months ago and chose a different company. I still receive calls almost daily from Steve trying to sell me insurance that Ive said not interested to a few times. I had to block the telephone number listed. Very harassing, get the point, I am not interested in your overpriced insurance.2 weeks since this review and I am now receiving voicemails from Brittney about insurance from this number. Not sure how when I blocked the phone number.

The worse insurance agent I have dealt with, I was updating some information on my policy so I stopped by the office in Central ave and Rick took all the required papers and said I will get my new Insurance ID card in the email within an hour. After 5 hours I received nothing and my account was never updated. I had to call Geico customer service number and the representative was able to update the information over the phone in only 5 minutes.I like Geico but I absolutely wont recommend dealing with this agent.
Does any adult need to be reminded that we get what we pay for? Cheaper doesnt mean better, in fact, it usually means worse. I am satisfied with my Geico policy though I do everything online, not thru the local agency. Their website is very easy to use and the available coverages are laid out very clearly. They repaired my car when I had a fender bender and handled it very well. Their local adjuster is very good. They even increased the payment when it was discovered that the original estimate was too low. Then two years later I was rear-ended. The car was totaled. Getting everything reimbursed was not quite as smooth but their phone customer service people (not the local agent) are very good and thorough. The problem is trying to get paid by the other guys insurance company. But I understand. Fraud is a huge problem thus many ts need to be crossed and is dotted. It just took a long time (4 months) to get fully reimbursed and everything settled on Geicos end. The other company took longer. Btw, no fault laws make things more difficult sometimes. Limits legit lawsuits. You can only sue if you have a medically significant physical injury that may have long-term or lifetime effects such as torn neck/back ligaments which can create significant debilitation pain and suffering. However, if you work it right you can get a larger settlement from the at-fault drivers insurer without an attorney. They will offer you a pittance. You can get more. They should pay something to cover your out of pocket costs and the difference between the actual value of your totaled vehicle and the cost of its replacement. Your time has value too. Just ask for more and you can usually get it. Good luck!To those who spend hours/days/weeks comparing quotes to save $50 / year, your time has value too. this should also be obvious to an adult but If you make $20/hour and spend 10 hours comparing (and make sure you compare apples to apples in terms of actual coverages) you have spent $200 to save $50.
Today I had the worst experience I can even imagine with Geico. I had a flat and called Geico for roadside assistance. They told me someone would be there to help me in 2 and a half hours. It is 5 degrees out but I was stranded and had no choice so I agreed to wait 2 and a half hours for them and they gave me the number of the company that would be coming out to help me. After 2 and a half hours of waiting in the car in 5 degree weather I called the number they gave me and found out it was a non-working number. So I called Geico who let me know it would be just another half hour. I had no choice but wait and considering I had already waited 2 and a half hours so I figured... what’s another half hour? After waiting for 3 hours in 5 degree weather I called Geico again and was told it would be just another half an hour. This happened every half hour until I had been waiting there for OVER 5 HOURS! They told me they had previous complaints lodged against this roadside company they use, so I don’t understand why they would keep using a company that makes people wait 5 hours in 5 degree weather. When the guy arrived he didn’t have a tow truck. He didn’t have fix a flat. He didn’t have anything to help me but an air pump. I waited 5 hours for an air pump? for a tire that CLEARLY had a hole in it since a flat tire is the reason I called in the first place. Really? Ok ok.... at this point I can’t risk getting stuck there for another 5 hours so fine. He pumps 27 psi in the tire and tells me that’s all he can do. so I asked the driver I waited 5 hours for if he could follow me to the car shop at the corner. He said no. So I asked him to move his car from blocking me in so I could get to car shop before my 27 psi of air runs out. He said he couldn’t move until I signed his paperwork. I sat there as my tire psi dropped from 27 to 22 waiting for him to get his paperwork ready. Finally he moved and I Was able to leave for the car repair shop with 22 psi of air left in my tire that I waited 5 hours for in 5 degree weather. If they had told me I’d be waiting there for 5 hours for them to half inflate my tire I would have made other arrangements. At the end of the day I lost a day of work for a half of a tire full of air which is beyond absurd. I’ll be dropping my roadside assistance as it is beyond evident that you can not rely on them for anything but a waste of a day. You couldn’t get worse service if you tried.
GEICO cares little for customers that have been with them for a long time. They win because people think they have such inexpensive quotes on car insurance over other insurance companies. But for GEICO, Its about the bottom line not their customers, and claim agents are there to make sure they uphold that line.Albany office on Central has only ONE auto claims adjuster(the person that goes out and look at your car after an accident) and this one person decides your fate. In addition, Call Center claim agents give very little information on your so called full coverage after an accident, even if you have an accident that is not your fault. They play very empathetic, but It takes awhile to get them directly on the phone as one reviewer said, you keep leaving messages and when you finally get them on the phone, they dont give you the full facts. You will still end up paying out of pocket either for a lien or replacing your vehicle that someone has totaled as happened to me. This is where people lose. Shop around, and ask tons of questions.
WORST INSURANCE IVE EVVVVERRRRR DEALT WITH! I’m switching to STATE FARM! I rather pay more and receive more in return with compassion, insurance, information, professionalism, and a lot more!!! I have Geico as my car insurance carrier. Last week I was hit from behind as I sat at a red light. I had asked Geico to handle the claim. It was found that I would not be at fault as the other driver was ticketed for distracted driving and following to close. It seems I cannot convince my insurance company to use OEM parts for this repair. They keep insisting that it is their policy to use aftermarket parts if availible. If it wasnt for two things I wouldnt even care but first of all it is on the other insurance companies dime. Second my car was only 5 months old. This is so unacceptable. I will be getting other insurance. I had heard about Geicos claim service not being customer friendly but again this isnt even on their dime. They say geico is great insurance unless u need to use it. So for anyone looking to get insurance dont get it thru Geico.
I been dealing with Geico for 3 months and today the Angel of Geico appeared and gave me my miracle, in fact he gave me the original quote that others would not give me and cheaper for 1 year paid in full than any other insurance company would dare to offer. this angel is none other than Germaine Walker,If by chance you get this sales agent on the horn of Geico Please listen, the man is a God send. hell work with you until you are satisfied happy and insured.I dont know where Germaine is from but he has my vote for the most dedicated sales agent of the month for sure, He fluffed my pillows and was kind, professional and listened to my needs and went to bat for me, Thank you Germaine Walker.Lou Stevens
I have not dealt with the local office that much but I will tell you that the 800 number folks have been amazing, super customer service minimal time adding and removing vehicles I have never been more willing to give a company my money just because when I call and need something it takes minutes not hours..
Its a good insurance company but for some or other they keep taking out more money for my car insurance than its supposed to be my insurance is 120.77 it went up one cent please leave my car insurance the same dont raise it one cent or 5 $please I notice it when it goes up .thank u
Well have been waiting and waiting for the insurance cards for my new car now so I can stop drive my truck that is falling apart and still ha ent got them you guys have been good for a but never a problem but Idk what regard you have working the desk these past couple days but you need someone who can do their freaking job right Im done playing games that I dont have time for

2022-04-09I will never bad mouth GEICO. They gave me the best deal when it came to my car coverage. The discounts are extremely helpful. I have had to contact them a couple times in my 4 years with them for minor issues (broken windshield, minor fender binder, flat tire) they are always there to help. There’s always a quick response.

2022-06-13Worst insurance you could possibly have. Not only have I heard they discriminate against trans rights but charging them based on their gender at birth. They also charged me 435$ a month for insurance no points on my license etc. i would highly advise staying away from their agents and service. The coverage is horrible and GEICO won’t honor reimbursement claims. Every agent I spoke with was quite rude and unprofessional and didn’t seem to be getting compensated correctly for their time. Please don’t make the mistake of using this for your coverage!

2021-09-09Place used to be located near the auto zone across the street. Wasnt aware of the change of location as there was no sign on the door. They moved across the street next to the jiffy lube car wash. I personally liked the other location better.The staff are excellent. Very helpful and clear in explaining exactly what you are getting. The young women at the front desk was very helpful and made getting insurance easy and fast.

2021-11-30Avoid geico at all costs. My daughter got run off the road by a driver that crossed the double yellow. She had to make a split second decision to either hit the other car head on, or drive off the road into a ditch. We had a witness and police report stating there was no options for her and she was not at fault. However, due to the fact that geico had to pay out on a claim to fix the damage to her car, our policy was cancelled. First and only incident with geico. Worst insurance I’ve ever had. They must need the extra money to pay for all their clever commercials.

2020-12-10Although the local office is closed due to Covid. There was a sign that a gave a local phone # to call. I spoke to a receptionist and was quickly transferred to an agent who helped me with my new auto insurance policy. Both of the women I spoke to were extremely friendly! The agent was very thorough in her explanation of the details of my policy. And very receptive to my questions! It was a very positive experience. The customer service I received cannot be beat!!!

2021-07-08I had a great experience with the local Geico office, Damian was so patient with me and explained the benefits of having renters insurance. I purchased the insurance for an extremely low price. I will definitely contact Damian at Geico Albany for any future insurance needs or questions.
