My daughter and I went to buy some plants and the staffs was so nice they help us to find what we was looking for. Peter and Greg was so nice to us they us my daughter when to get some plants on that Saturday and they sure help. We both went to get some more plants and we ran into Greg and Peter we just want to thank them both for their help. Anyone goes to buy plants should ask for Peter or Greg they know their job. Our plants is growing so nicely
Came in ready to buy, but if I had bought any plants, it would have been like trying to save puppies from a puppy mill. Dozens and dozens of knocked over plants and left to deteriorate while shiny new mums and succulents in animal pots take up all the shelf space. Depressing.
I purchased 18 yards of black mulch this year 2 or 3 yards at a time. I picked up 2 yards 7/11/21 to finish off a job that was started a week ago and was called back to the job today 7/13/21 because the black mulch was now washed out brown!! The black washed out in one or 2 days !!! The mulch from a little over a week ago was still nice and black just like the other 4 propertys that I did. This made it even more noticeable. I stopped at Georges to tell them about it. I asked them if the had a new supplier or new batch and they said they get it from Gallivan for the past twenty years and to call them !!!!! ??????? I was disappointed that there was a problem with it when I went there butt I was more upset after I stopped in to tell them about the issue and their response.
Deeply enjoyed my first visit - and found the customer service to be superb. Had some difficulty finding prices but it looked like they were moving in new inventory for spring. I took lots of photos - I will upload later, but found their selection of garden whimsy enticing, and will go back often!
Very disappointed - drove almost an hour only to be treated very rudely. People at the counter were very nice and the flowers were beautiful. However, the way we were treated by the person we were told to ask our question was less than acceptable. I hope she forgives us for disturbing her day. Only one chance to make a good first impression.
What a great place to find all your decorating needs at Christmas time! They have everything from beautiful real and artificial trees and wreaths to the ornaments needed to adorn them. (They make beautiful bows too!) Their plant selections and unique combinations are top notch at a great price! Of course the staff is just wonderful and they all make you feel like you are a part of their family 😁All year around it is the place to go for your gardening and landscaping needs. They have a great gift shop too where you can find just what you need for yourself or a gift.Go see for yourself, you wont be disappointed!
We bought our Christmas tree here. It was a great tree. Everyone complimented how full and nicely shaped it was. It lived for quite a long time, too. Theyve got a great selection of everything else you need to. Its a great local shop. Like it much better than home depot garden for most all things.
I heard lots of positive feedback and great review of this place, but it turned out to be wrong. They have no management knowledge whatsoever. Only reason they are in business because of their employees who works for them. I asked for lawn care estimate back in June and they told me they will send few people to do the estimate. Since then (it is September when I am writing this), I have kept calling them and went to this place 2 times to know when they will come over my place to do the estimate. Every time they say, someone will reach out to me and take my info. I gave my info 7 times already and nobody reached out to me. The owner needs to take their promises seriously. Rather than saying they will reach out to me, they could have just say they cant do it. Pathetic management. Hopefully this review will reach out to them (specificly the owner) and will take quick action.
I wish I had read the reviews before I dropped $$$ on a large tree. As you read the reviews you can see the customer service is very inconsistent and the management has not added any comments to support themselves. If that gives you a clue of what to expect. Only shop for bagged dirt, fertilizers or sale plants. Will not return. Go to Fadiganns they fertilize their plants
Went to get a refund on a dwarf weeping willow tree and was told no refunds but could get 1/2 off a replacement - ok, not a problem. Older woman who waited on me was beyond rude. Never again - too expensive and from what I have read on here, trees and plants dont last. Ill go to Hewitts next time.
Went to Consaul Rd today. My husband asked if he could look at the corn and the older woman said no. He tried explaining that last week 2 out of the 4 ears we bought were bad. They were missing rows and sections of corn. Her response was TOO BAD. Nice customer service right? We are NEVER going back there! BTW they do not make their own pies—they buy them frozen.
I paid cash for a fountain yesterday; but, returned it today. Nothing was wrong with it. I just live between 2 dairy barns and on the high wind 2 days ago, my other fountain, which is stoned got knocked over. The one I purchased here would break if knocked over. The owner gave me attitude as soon as I said I was returning it and would not give me a merchandise credit, b/c I didn’t have the receipt. That was her right, but she knew full well I had paid her in cash the day before. This to me is not a good way of doing business. The merchandise in the store is very nice and reasonably priced, but, I will think twice about doing business there again.
I shopped at Georges for approximately 40 years and was always happy with the potted plants and mulch I purchased there. Then I made a purchase of 10 large evergreen trees costing thousands. A few didnt look that healthy when they planted them. They did replace one (1) tree but that tree didnt do any better and eventually died. They wanted $550. to replace that one even though it never looked well as would be expected. The rest of the trees that were 1/2 to 3/4 dead they wouldnt do anything about them.I was dealing with Charlie Jr. and he said if a tree still has any green on it at all Im not going to replace it.So I never had all 10 trees looking nice and being alive which spoiled the entire look of these trees planted out on my front lawn.I have to go out this Spring and buy 10 new trees as they continued to do poorly. Will never do business with them again!
If you are trying to start a garden in the middle of a pandemic these are the folks you need! I have had multiple incredibly pleasant phone calls with Lauren who has run all over the store to check inventory and find me what I need. Timely curbside pickup available. Very sweet and helpful staff! Much gratitude!
My yard was a disaster, very overgrown and weedy, needing mulch, trimming, removal of large and dead bushes, and general cleanup. The crew from Georges arrived in the morning and had completely transformed my yard by the end of that day. I had thought it would take several days to do what they did. They left everything neat and clean and I cant wait to come home each day to look at and enjoy my yard. They were phenomenal and a delight to work with and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Stopped by to look at mums and was distracted by the list of 6 different types of muffins. I asked for four kinds. Nope. They only had one of them, but had fresh apple filled - maybe I would like to try them?OK What occurred from there was beyond bizarre. I was sent back and forth between TWO cash registers carrying my 6 muffins in a cardboard tray because the 2 employees couldnt decide what BAG to put them in! Just weird. And the apple filling was 1/4 teaspoon of canned apple in a bland muffin.Wont bother to attempt an experience like again.
The few plants Ive purchased here all died. Ive been gardening for 25 years so know how to properly care for plants. When I brought the plants back within 3 months, Georges staff said they dont guarantee their plants (unlike Faddegons). They offered me nothing. This is the opposite experience as Faddegons, where staff go out of their way to help their customers garden succeed.
I recently bought 7 huge hydrangea bushes. One died. I talked to the owners son and he immediately put a new one in the truck, and came to my house. He not only delivered it, he took out the dead one and replanted the new one. THAT IS SERVICE. And when I bought the bushes, he GAVE me one of their home grown cantaloupe. These are things you dont forget. He is an asset to the company. I enjoy buying from him every time Ive visited the store.
I Love Georges! My family and I have been doing business with them since the 70s.Great service, prices are fair.In a day day and age where the mom-and-pop businesses are going by the wayside, its a strong testament to the kind of place they run.God Bless!-Mike T, Latham
Clipper magazine had a coupon from Georges for a free cider donut, redeemable at their produce stand on Albany-Shaker Rd (near the airport). When I stopped there last week to buy corn and squash, I also presented the coupon for the free donut. They nicely explained to me that the part about having to redeem the coupon at that stand (which is really just a truck) was incorrect as they dont have donuts, so I should redeem it at the regular Georges Market in Latham. I attempted to do that today, and was rudely told by the owner that it was only redeemable at the truck stand. I told her that they told me they dont sell donuts; she tried to tell me that was true only today as they werent delivered any today. When I said no, they didnt have any last week either, she rudely said Oh, all right, Ill give you a donut (like she was doing me a huge favor). She added The coupon is for only one donut, you know (as tho I was asking for more). I had intended to buy an additional half-dozen of them, but after being treated so poorly I bought only one additional donut. I wonder why they put the coupon out if they obviously had no intention of honoring it?
Very disappointed in my visit today at Georges Nursery in Latham. Workers were not masked at all, no social distancing happening here at all. For someone with a compromised immune system sitting in the car watching was quiet disappointed. I have come here for sometime and to the other location and will have to say might jot be returning.
I have to travel a half hour to go to Georges and they close early without warning and when I call to ask what there hours are and tell them they I traveled there last night to find they closed early they said they would have an owner call me. A very snotty woman calls me and states that she heard I called and was complaining about them closing early and as I tried to explain to her that I wasnt complaining but explaining the travel distance she says shes not going to have her help taken out in an ambulance to satisfy customers. Other than her rude demeanor there prices are too high so I would suggest anyone looking for gardening supplies to do like I will for now on and go to Troy Landscaping where they treat customers with repect.
The plants were all looking GREAT George Jr. And a girl I think her name was Erin. Were both VERY helpful and polite. This was my first time here and I was overwhelmed with everthing. George pointed out some annuals that will bloom all season Vs the perrinials that will come back year after year but only bloom for about 4 weeks a yr.
I went to this plant nursery, there was no one except two men. I greeted them and the man just stared at me. My husband entered and he asked him what we were looking for. The whole time he stared at us as if we were going steal something. I felt uncomfortable and I told my husband for us to leave. I now understand why this place was empty
Called this place to do some landscaping was told I would get a call back in 10 days No one called back I called was told someone would call back by end of the day called again 2 days later was told same thing and before i could finish she hung up. I called again today and told them the i wont be using them as it is common courtesy to called a potential customer and when i told them that i wanted to know if they were on Google so I could leave a review they seemed like they could care less. If they are like this before doing any work I could imagine how they are while and after they do the work. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDING THEM TO ANYONE

2022-05-13Surprised of the condition and presentation of this garden center and greenhouse. Several dried out and wilted plants in the retail area. Some cool products but randomly placed. Lots of inventory but doesnt appear to be moving well. Great nursery stock. Not sure how to pick products given not really a show/retail place. Odd entrance seems more like a back access. If you know you want, youll probably find it but no inspiration.

2022-08-07I purchased six mature arborvitae (green giants) last spring and all of them have died completely. They were well watered and maintained, added fertilizer and mulch, etc - I even planted alongside a different variety at the same exact time, seen in photo below, and all those trees are doing well.I called twice and asked to speak to a manager, who is never available, and then when finally got through was told to send an email with pictures and the receipt. I sent all that. No reply a week later. It’s a shame that this is the only recourse I have as a customer to get the business to operate in a professional manner. In addition to the time required here I had to rent a trailer to pick up the trees, taking my time and effort, then hire help to dig and plant them, now I have to dig them back up and replace. None of that additional cost or energy will be accounted for by George’s I assume - but the least they could do is honor their guarantee..Order trees online. Go anywhere else. George’s ain’t it.

2021-11-30I bought a Christmas ornament here from the many available and they personalized it for free while I waited! Georges has everything for Christmas; trees, plants, and wreaths you can have decorated by choosing and buying from among the many ribbons and decorations available.

2022-06-06I recently hired Georges to do various landscaping maintenance projects around my house. George Jr. first came out to my home and listened to all my needs. He was very knowledgeable and made several great recommendations. He provided me with a quote within a couple of days. Once I signed the quote, he got me on the schedule and his crew showed up on the scheduled date and did an amazing job. I couldnt be happier with the end result and I will use them again in the future for my landscaping needs!

2022-06-21Spent close to 600 $ on nursery plantings last fall. He states he warrantys his stock for a year..Dont believe it.. He decides whats warrantied or not..I sent pictures, talked with him but he wouldnt even consider replacing at half price.I use another company who was shocked over this told me to give them hollytone and water. It did help s some but you would think the one who planted them would have suggested this.. but NO.. No credit no replacementIm Done with any further purchases from this owner!

2022-04-21I usually enjoy their perennials and vegetable plants. They also have a few baked goods, various kinds of garden supplies and even some gifts there. They also have this natural oil tick and insect spray. These days I have used the spray quite often, and it seems to do the trick!!! Dont forget to check them out. (They used to have nice fudge there too!!! Darn it!!!)

2021-08-17We recently purchased a yard of top soil and the gentleman who handles this was very helpful. He helped with all our questions and when we came back, he was the same person to load our truck. He made sure we had all the info we needed to get our job done and we really appreciate it. I wish I had gotten his name, he deserves a shout out.
