Ive used Gils a couple times now. I feel like my car is in really good hands here. They always seem to be able to resolve my issues, and without any kind of upsell. I always end up paying a lot less than I expect.
I discovered a nail in my tire causing a slow leak. They were able to take me right in at the end of the day & repaired the damage efficiently while I waited. This is the second time I’ve needed last minute assistance for a tire plug & they were able to help both times.
Im new to the area and was referred by the folks I work for, Buhrmaster farms. Outstanding customer service. I waited for my vehicle repair in their very comfortable lounge. Ill be a long time customer.Thank you, Bob Reynolds

We broke down on December 30th just as we were heading back to Michigan. We were able to get the truck towed to Gil’s that night. They were working on it Monday January 2nd and identified the issue. Flew back out the following week and drive 700 miles back home. No issues. Thanks so much for helping us out.

Update:Had some 57 year old car issues that again Gils was more than happy to take on and get me back up and running. Great team!The team at Gils have a pre-standing reputation that I was happy to leverage to finish some work on my vehicle after a comprehensive mechanical restoration. They were able to work on a 57 year old car without issue and were willing to work with me during the process to review changes and modifications. We had several hurdles to overcome (defective parts - not in any way Gils fault) and they were absolutely fair and understanding of the added time these hurdles caused. Josh in the shop is a pro and worked on my car as if it was his own and without compromise. Brian in the office guided the entire process and was great about keeping me updated. Overall the team went above and beyond considering how big and old this car is. Im very grateful and will return for more work (hopefully now just maintenance!)

I recently used a Gil’s for the first time. I called to make an appointment for new brake pads and front rotors and they were so friendly and welcoming. They gave me a fair price, got the repairs done quickly and even topped my oil and filled my tires which was a nice surprise! When I brought my kids to drop the vehicle off/pick up they were more than welcoming to them as well. Will definitely be using them in the future!
I’ve been bringing my cars here for over 10 years now (Audi, Subaru, VW). Gil’s is honest, competent, and friendly. They are not only the best automotive service business I’ve ever used, they are a model for all small businesses of any kind. I highly recommend bringing your vehicle to Gil’s. They will give you an accurate and honest assessment of your car, and competently repair it for a fair price.

I randomly ended up with 2 staples in my tire and I didn’t know that, but my tire pressure kept dropping no matter how much air I put in. I called them less than an hour before they closed and they got me right in. I couldn’t have asked for better service. Thank you!

I recently posted a negative review after my husband’s van received some repair work. The radio and clock did not work when he picked it up. Gil’s has now been in touch with him and will be repairing that next week so all is well at this point. We are now satisfied that things will be made right.
It was so easy doing business with Gils Garage, the staff were very helpful and friendly! My car is driving so much better, after the repair it drives so smoothly. And to top it off, I swear they cleaned my car ! I would not hesitate to do business here again and have already told friends and family about the outstanding service!
Since Im new to area I took advantage of the free oil and filter change notice I received in the mail, however, the coupon expired a month prior to my call for an appointment. They still honored the offer, provided a shuttle while car was being serviced and every employee I spoke with at Gils was pleasant, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their prices are very fair, they didnt try to sell me any other services and, by the way, they placed a plastic mat on the drivers floor as opposed to the paper ones....
Gone ther for 20 years! Have taken good care of all our cars! In fact just handed down our 2007 Honda Accord with 286000 miles to sister in law ! Still running strong!

It was a great experience they care about you and your vehicle I went for a basic oil change and the technician found my transmission lines were wore out and I had to wait a little longer but it was worth the wait if i he didn’t notice the problem I would of blown my transmission thank goodness he caught that problem and fixed it I am grateful

Gils installed a hitch on my vehicle recently. I found scheduling an appointment easy and they were able to complete the work within the same week. I dropped the vehicle off the day before the installation date and picked it up the following day. The staff are professional and courteous and overall I had a great experience with them. I am also very satisfied with the quality of the installation of the hitch on the minivan.
In my opinion, Gils is as honest a repair shop as youll find full of good people!
I’m sure that this mechanic does good work, but they are extremely over priced.I brought my car in for a radiator coolant leak, they quoted the repairs at $1,400 - ~250 for one pump and whatever the cost of a hose was. They also quoted roughly 3 hours to change one hose. Giving them generously 5 hours to change one pump and a hose, that’s over $200/hour for labor. I took my car with the same issues to the dealership and they are fixing it for ~$800.I personally will never use their services again. Not only did they over quote me by at least $500, they also charged me $130 to just diagnose the problem.If you’re looking for a fair priced, honest mechanic, I would look somewhere else, personally.But again, I’m sure they do good work, even at their prices.Edit: the owner called me and tried to make it right. He refunded the price of my diagnostic, and made an effort to understand what happened.

Needed some work done on my business van. The garage is clean and they have alot of business which tells me they are reputable.The staff were pleasant and accommodating.The price was quoted upfront and which I thought needed to be done didnt ha e to be and that save me money.I eneded up buying two tires as well, which were a little on the high side, but they saved me money on the other work.When it comes to a garage or a mechanic, its alot lot going to the doctor, you have to trust what they say.Gils is absolutely truth worthy and for that they will have my recommendation as well as my repeat business.The work was done well and on time a d at the quoted price by professionals..They did an excellent job.

New to the area and Gills came highly recommended. We’ve used Gills several times in the last year. Always professional, great service and fair pricing. My last visit I had my heating fixed, when I picked up the car by the time I got to work I realized it wasn’t functioning properly. I called to let them know… and hear is where they earned my business from now on. They immediately said bring it back and we’ll give a loaner. The next day they called and said the car was done. I picked it up and they didn’t charge me, even though what was wrong was a semi-different issue. They could have charged me, and it would have been fair. I’m very impressed with there service and how I was treated. I’ll always use Gills!
I called Gil’s on a Thursday and spoke to Holly. She was great and had me bring my vehicle in same day. I had a few issues which were diagnosed with daily updates on progress. Repairs were timely and professional. Great customer service.

When my battery died due to the alternator needed to be replaced, Gils towed my car themselves l, had a quote to me by the next afternoon, and everything fixed the day after that! Ive been using Gils for several years now. They are always great to work with. Always fair and always honest about what needs to be done with my vehicles. I have never had to return because a service was not completed well. They go above and beyond in everything they do. I had a very unique situation I was in a wreck on my vacation(I was not at fault) and I had no one to turn to due to not being from the area, I did have some friends and family recommend me to Gills, I have to say that they are the peoples mechanics they look out for the customer good old school morals and values they put their name on everything they do and they hold their head held high with pride and what they do. I cant say enough good things about my experience, every shop needs to be just like them, they were fighting with the insurance company and bent over backwards to fight for me. Just moved into town & needed a professional and trustworthy garage. Brought my truck in for a quick repair. I was 100% impressed with the courteous staff, excellent customer service and quality workmanship, and on top of it all there was almost no wait. The people at Gil’s are great! I was gifted a car that promptly failed inspection. I had been quoted $1400 to fix the issues by the inspecting shop (which was basically to replace brakes and rotors). I made an attempt to replace the brakes myself but had an issue with getting a caliper off so I went to Gil’s and they were able to fix up that front brake that I couldn’t fix, replace another part that was rusted out and fix the emergency brake for an extremely reasonable price. I couldn’t recommend them higher and will definitely be back!

I had a tire blowout which required replacement with new tire. It was done on timeline and estimate they provided and car was back to normal. They noted several things to monitor in the write up which I appreciated. I appreciated their knowledgeable intake staff and the expedient counter personnel.

I have known the people that work at Gils a very long time. They are all incredible people. When my car broke down nearby they were able to get me towed in quickly. I had answers as to what was the issue the very next day and it was all fixed the day after that. They are very accommodating and got the work done quick and are super friendly!

Gils is a go to for me. They take such good care of my vehicles that I will not go anywhere else. Hands down I am completely satisfied with my experience. Seven years ago it was my rusty 96 f250. I could not believe the exceptional service they provided for me on that old thing. Last week I brought them my 2018 Silverado for routine service and inspection. They’ve taken great care of those two trucks, along with everything in between.I’d be hard pressed to find one negative thing to say about my experience at Gils garage.
Gil’s Garage is amazing. They have excellent customer service and are very professional. I have had 2 issues with my car that they were able to fix within the same day for a great price. I am going to take my car for regular visits and emergency services from now on.
Gil’s Garage is the best shop in town. They are reliable, flexible, knowledgeable, and so nice! No one ever tries to get you to buy something you don’t need.Last year, I was with a friend driving a 4 horse trailer from NY to SC. Half hour into our drive, the check engine light came on, trailer filled with horses and bags. We pulled in to gils on a Friday night at 615, 45 minutes before they closed. They stayed late to check everything over (trailer still full with horses) to ensure we were okay to drive (we were :)) and didn’t charge us a dime. They are incredible.I’ve been going to Gil’s for over 8 years now and brought numerous vehicles there. Wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.
As a first time customer I was very impressed. We were able to get right in for service and it was diagnosed and repaired correctly that day. The customer service and communication was great and the final price was very reasonable. Everything was first class at GIL’S and we’ll definitely be back!

Gils is great. This was our first experience using their service. I dropped my car off in the morning with a list of items I thought needed to be fixed and returned at the end of the day to be told that everything checked out and what I though was wrong was fine. I was planning on a bill that would exceed $ 500 for what I though needed to be done, but instead my bill was $ 30 for an oil change! It is great to find an honest mechanic! Gils - you have my business for life!

Repair took longer than expected but things happen, repair was thorough and complete 100% and the team at gils made accommodations for me because the repair took longer than expected. That was highly impressive for them to be personable and actually think about my needs.I mainly do my own work on my cars but I am highly impressed with gils, I will come back one day when I’m feeling too lazy to turn a wrench. Good work and honest people make the auto repair business simple, not to mention their great prices as well! I can’t complain at all. And trust me I’ve brought my cars to the dealer plenty of times and they break things additional and try to tell you nothing is wrong and charge you top dollar. Take your business here not the dealer.
Although I could only book an appointment online over a week away, my vehicle was towed to Gils on a weekend and they called two days later to get approval to start working on the vehicle. I added some items and they said OK without hesitation. Expert work and she runs beautifully. Gils treats my 1991 Jag XJS v-12 convertible like a queen whereas virtually all other repair facilities cant meet the challenge.
Gils is the best garage in the area! I have been a patron of the garage for the past 30 or so years. They are the nicest, most honest group of people. Trustworthy people, quality work.When my family moved here 8 years ago, we asked around for where car service was recommended. Everybody said Gils. Theyve always treated us right.Gils doesnt push you to do stuff you dont need. They do give you options if stuff can be put off and they let you know what shouldnt be put off.Ive seen them professionally and respectfully treat people who arent interested in cars at all. They dont overwhelm them with jargon, but if theres something wrong, theyll tell you enough so you know what needs to be done and how much itll cost. If you like cars, theyll get into the nitty gritty and let you know the details of whats going on, what Toyota water pumps sound like when their bearings are failing, or how to tell when your Honda rear differential fluid needs changing.If they tell me my car will be ready at a certain time, it is.Ive been in for two flat tire emergencies. The first one I had a very limited amount of time and I needed it repaired so I could pick up my son. They had my tire fixed and me back on the road in 30 minutes (15 minutes before they closed).Over the years, Ive found two people who had bad experiences there. One privately admitted to me it was probably his fault in retrospect. The other said it was a simple mistake, nobodys perfect, and he still goes to Gils.
I had my classic 68 Chevelle SS towed up to them. It wasnt running and I was worried it was something serious. They diagnosed the issue quickly. A few needles changed in the carburetor, sparkplug cleaning and a timing adjustment and I was back on the road.
I had brought my wives jeep in fir service on ABS and T/C lights on the dash. They got it in and looked at quickly and notified me immediately of the issue. My trust in their work is very high as it was a rot in the wiring harness and instead of needing to replace or saying they needed to replace it they just repaired and sent us in our way. Amazing experience

Gil’s warrantied my brakes after 18 months. No charge for the new brakes and rotors do to a corrosion issue. They stand behind everything they do.
What a great shop. They have my business along with my family and friends going forward. Here’s my story. I decided to call the folks up at Gils after the dealership was unable to perform an alignment on my Lexus LS430. The dealership basically said the entire suspension (inner, outer tie rods, lower control arms, rear toe adjuster was completely frozen). The service rep at the dealership threw a $5,000 parts and labor quote to fix the frozen suspension in order to complete the alignment. So my call to Gils was handled by Matt. After explaining my situation to him and asking that I really want a second opinion on my cars suspension after hearing what the dealership just told me. Matt was able to get me in on the same day. Basically said come on by and we can chat about the issues further in person. The lobby and front entrance was really clean and well kept. I met Matt and explained my story. Shared the quote from the dealer so we both got a chuckle. Matt arranged for a courtesy ride home for me which is a great service being provided to customers. 2.5 hours after I dropped off my car I got a call from Matt saying the alignment was done and there was not any issues from their end. I stopped by to pick up my car, we chatted over the alignment results (before and after). I can’t begin to express how awesome the team at Gils is. Their ability to provide top notch customer service and honesty means more than anything. Thank you Matt for taking the time to fit me in and getting an alignment done which could not be done by the dealership.
I took my old truck in for tires and they installed them and let me know all of the issues they found while they were under there. There was absolutely no pressure to have the repairs done by them. I picked up the truck and am doing the repairs I can myself and will be going back to them for the rest of the repairs. Very curtious. Informative and prompt service.
Since Ive had my license - approx. 14 years - Gils has been my go-to mechanic establishment. Their history on their wall at the front desk says all you need to know about why theyre still in business. Theyve always been candid, trustworthy and fair. If you do or dont support local, small business, you should at least try Gils (if you havent).
This is hard for me to do considering my whole family going back to my grandfather has been going to Gil’s for my God 100 years? Plus, my best friend works there, partial owner of the place. I’ve known the entire family for over 50 years. With that said, there’s not a single person that I talk to that does not bring their car to Gil’s Garage. It’s Home, it’s familiar, it’s Beyond reasonable, you can always count on them in a pinch, not to mention extremely professional.
The crew at Gil’s was kind enough to check the torque on suspension components I had replaced and perform an alignment. Top notch service as always and a pleasure to work with the team.
Gils has been my go-to garage for well over a decade. They kept my 09 Honda running well for the few years I owned it; now that Ive invested in yet another Honda, they are there still, taking excellent care of my CR-V. The service theyve given me has always been courteous, professional, fairly priced, prompt and thorough. I cant say enough good things about the great way theyve treated me and my (and my familys) cars over the years; Ill be a customer for a long time to come.

I would consider 5 stars,except all i had done was an oil change. I will say all the service providers went out of there way to keep the customers up to date with theirRepair , and informed of their options if some problem was found . They were then given a choice about how they wanted to proceed ,and as a result it seemed like a very contented waiting room with no customers yelling at the service desk about why their repair was so exspensive. I would recommend this repair shop.

My only complaint that I have is that I had 2 keys that needed new batteries and without even conferring with me, They fixed it which I thought was nice of them until I saw on my bill after I left that they charged me 7 dollars for each key. Meanwhile my dealership as Nissan was about to do it for freeThese are the kind of reasons that prevent me from coming back to a business because instead of not wanting to call and make it a bigger deal than it is , I just assume that they know this and that I got screwed
When I drop my car off they check the mileage and make sure all that is needed is done. If additional work is needed they will explain it and give you a price and I feel very comfortable to say yes or no to the additional work. Its a great place to have your car taken care of.
These guys tried to tell me I had a cracked manifold and told me the job would cost $1000+ this was summer 2020 so they may have been trying to take me on a ride because they didnt have money or something but this was just completely reduces. Special cuz I fixed the problem myself in my drive way🤷😵💫👎

I work the health care field overnights. I forgot my I inspection was due, I needed an oil change, and my Transmission light appeared on my dash. They were nice enough to take me in to thier shop and the work was completed the same day. Matt worked on my car 😁. He even was nice enough to quote me on price if tires!

Gill’s always takes care of us! This time it was my 19 yr old daughters vehicle. At first my daughter wanted me to call. It’s intimidating to call a garage when you are a young woman and don’t know much about cars. Once she met the team at Gill’s she felt at ease. Gill’s explained it all respectfully, what were the issues, what could wait and what should be done as soon as possible. My daughter felt confident to make decisions herself. It was a great experience for her. Gill’s is my garage, and it will be hers now, too.

My wife recently had her car stolen from our driveway and then recovered. Due to Covid-19 concerns and the fact that the interior of the car was littered with trash and other”paraphernalia” we had the car towed to Gil’s to diagnose if any damage was had to the vehicle structure and engine. At the same time we were working with our insurance company whom we put in touch with Matt at Gil’s. Throughout the entire process, Matt and the Gil’s service team not only showed my wife appropriate empathy but also took charge and “handled” our insurance rep to make certain our deductible was minimized. They even transported the vehicle to and from Boxleys which we requested they use for detailing the vehicle.We have used Gil’s for most of 20 years, with Matt managing most of our appointments. Ive been coming here for years for service. Recently, I went to the dealership where I bought my car because it was more convenient at the time. They told me my car needed over $700 worth of repairs. I opted not to have the work done. Went to Gils for my next oil change and for a second opinion. I didnt need any of that work done. Im a customer for life.
They are always friendly. They are thorough. They noticed during an inspection that the seals on my jeep were bad and suggested we contact the dealer. Got it fixed under warranty and saved me over $1500.

Honest, fast, experts. Family owned and operated. When my car spent six weeks at local garage that could not figure out the problem i finally had it towed to Gils. They had the answer in less than two hours and the car was fixed the very next day. I have never looked back. Gave great advice and was able to drive that same car 170K miles under their care. Gil’s is amazing I have been going there since 1991 ! They were so good about wearing a mask wiping down the car before and after my oil change and getting the winter tires off. I trust them they and I think everyone should go to them!
The quality of service at Gils is consistently the best. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed.They have many skilled mechanics that are not parts changers. If they tell you that repairs are needed, they are.
Despite the small sounding name, these guys are the biggest independent repair shop in the area. They said they see about 60-100 cars a day. Theyre fast, keep long hours, and sometimes will throw in little things for free. Theyve done a couple small jobs for me fast, with impeccable customer service for good prices. Sometimes their prices, especially for big jobs, can be high, so as always, its good to do your homework on the repair involved. Their labor rate is almost $100/hr, so that adds up. But overall theyre reliable as a go-to shop with the caveat that if their numbers seem too high you can shop the job around to the dealer or smaller shops and sometimes get a lower price.
Every experience with Gils is a satisfying one. I know if Gils is fixing my car that it will be done properly and the repair will last. The interface at the front desk is always a pleasure.
I had an issue with my car I already had all the parts to fix it but needed it done asap. Gils did just that. Used my parts and fixed. Got me in the morning after I called and when they found out that I get out pretty early from work and would be waiting for it they said we will have it done for you! ❤

I cant praise the service I received when I made an appointment to diagnose my car which suddenly wouldnt start---all in a blizzard with the car sitting in a snowplow-created snowbank! Initially, I requested an appointment online, intending to coordinate the date and time with AAA service. The online calendar showed that the first open appointment was several days hence; I made my first choice at 2 p.m. on that day and my second choice the following day at the same time. First thing in the morning, I received an email telling me that neither time was available and requesting that I call Gils to make an appointment. Later that morning, I got a call from Gils asking if I truly wanted an appointment on the date I requested or if I had simply requested the first open date on the online calendar. When I responded that I had asked for the first opening, the caller exclaimed, You dont want to wait to find out why your car wont start! He told me that I could call AAA to arrange an emergency start at any time Gils was open, jump in my car and drive it to the shop---not even a phone call required. At the shop, my unscheduled diagnosis was made within a reasonable time and the technician assured that I would be comfortable as I waited in Gils customer-friendly waiting area. I am a customer who appreciates consideration and attention to detail; that day, I experienced, for the first time at any automobile service center, a fine example of this. Though the time it takes to reset the in-deck stereos security code---once I have the code---is seconds---all customers dont have the code and Ive always thought that excellent service would include a car that was both repaired and code reset. Being thorough, and though I had never had a radio code reset after a repair, I had intended to give the technician the code prior before authorizing the repair. I was more than a little surprised when the tech, as he summarized the planned work, asked if I had the radio code---now, if we could get permanent radio-station presets...! I have been to a lot of shops over the years, but have never been anywhere that has the level of dedication to doing the job well as Gils. Most shops have ended up confused with my 89 Bronco since they are no longer common, however Gils has stepped through every issue finding the problem that needs solved and presenting me with options and costs. I think this attitude comes from servicing so many classic models and building the skills to run through problems rather than simply read out computer codes. I trust them more with my vehicles than the dealership or any national repair brand. As long as I live in the region I will never take any of my vehicles anywhere else.
Longstanding reputation for honest, thouough, and quality work. Preparing to return to TX from a visit to this area when I noticed a loss of air pressure in one of my tires. Swung in late in the afternoon and they agreed to fix it even tho they were busy. To their and my astonished surprise they found screws in two other tires plus one in the spare!!!

I have been going to Gils of Hslfmoon since it opened. This time I could not go there since I needed tire rotation on my pickup camper. They have a bigger door for it. Gils of Burnt Hills did the job outside. I commented that sometime I might need an oil change on my pickup camper and they told me that they would get it In fact they told me anything you need done they will find a way to get it done. They were both professional and personal. I love Gils.
Very thorough on making sure I knew exactly what they did for my truck as well as other things that needed to be done/repaired, and even had a quote for later repairs ready for me when I showed up to pick up my truck (the same day I dropped it off).
I dropped my neighbor off to have her car serviced and, ironically, my battery died in their parking lot! They replaced it right there on the spot and for a very fair price. They will certainly get any future business of mine!

I started going to Gils once the change in venue for my day job made using my previous most excellent shop, Broadway Auto Clinic, out of reach by far too many miles. I had heard many good things about the shop and and an honest shop is tough to find.Gils isnt the cheapest place to get work done by any stretch of the imagination, but the price they charge is definitely fair. Price-wise, they tend to come in cheaper than work done at a dealer, and more expensive than a cheap repair joint. The quality of the repairs is excellent: only once in eight years now have I had to come back to have a repair looked at a second time. Things theyve fixed also dont break prematurely, something I cannot say for work Ive had done at dealers in the past.They also have gone out of their way to lessen the impact on me when needed--including getting a rush repair done on one of my vehicles prior to my taking a long vacation with it, and allowing me to pick it up after hours for said trip (meaning theyd only get payment once I returned from the trip). Granted, I had been an established customer at that point, but two-way trust with a vendor is a rare commodity these days.Lest you think they only deal with pedestrian vehicles, they did excellent work on my heavily modified Grand Prix years ago, and continue to do excellent work on my current G8 GT.If you live in the Burnt Hills / Ballston Lake / Glenville area, and you havent checked Gils out, what are you waiting for?

It is a love/hate relationship with Gils. I love the quality of their work (and how about their parts/labor warranty 24 months/24,000 miles).I do not like the costs (but the new car dealerships labor rates are higher).Gils can keep any truck running until the frame rusts out and will not pass NYS inspection.I retired from KAPL. I will often see old workmates leaving/picking up their vehicles when I am doing the same. I can walk to Gils. These mates live in Saratoga Springs, Niskayuna, Delmar, etc.We have used Gils since the early 1980s.Would I recommend Gils? YES!

Brought in 2000 Lesabre to get a crankshaft variation relearn because I had changed the harmonic balancer. It was a challenge so find a shop that has the proper scan tool to perform this procedure. The price was more than half of that a dealership would offer. Staff was very helpful and polite. Car was finished in a timely manner. I highly recommend Gils for automobile services!
Im profoundly disappointed with Gils. I brought my car, a 2002 Mercury Sable, in to Gils because of a hydraulic fluid leak that turned out to be coming from the transmission. Ive had work done there before and though a bit pricey, I thought they did good work, so I didnt think twice about going back there. They diagnosed the leak as coming from the transmission due to serious overheating causing the expanded fluid to leak out of the filler tube and the increased pressure blowing out the gasket of the pan. They checked further by putting the machine on the transmission and the diagnosis codes indicated wear serious enough to require a $2500 transmission rebuild. Well, trying to live on a fixed income meant that I didnt have $2500 handy. For $514.41 Gils drained the cooked fluid and refilled it, and I went home to figure out how long it was going to take me to acquire the funds to fix it (the car is in otherwise very good condition and worth doing the work on...what I could replace it with for $2500 I dont want to drive).A good friend of mine suggested I to to a *transmission* shop for a second opinion. I didnt like Aamcos reviews so I went to Angies List to find a transmission shop with good reviews and then called them.I am VERY GLAD I did. He asked about symptoms. Aside from the fluid leaking, there were none; no lag in shifting, no slipping, no horrible noises, no other symptoms AT ALL. When I mentioned the fluid leaking out of the filler tube he said The vent is plugged. They get old, swell up, and that pressure has to go somewhere, so it goes out the filler tube.I then asked him if he had the machine that could diagnose the state of wear inside the transmission. I was informed that if I had a Chrysler product he could do that, but FORD doesnt have the sensors to provide that information.Ford doesnt have the sensors to provide that information.Well, well...isnt that interesting. That means I was lied to.The transmission shop went on to say that due to the mileage on my transmission, I could expect the pump in the torque converter to let go. No pump, no hydraulic pressure, no hydraulic pressure and the car just stops...no warning, it just lets go. He suggested that I have the torque converter (and thereby the pump) replaced as well as the vent and the front seal for a total cost of $1100.Im not a mathematician but even *I* know that $2500 is more than $1100. And I DO know I was lied to by Gils. So...do I take my hard-to-acquire funds to a shop that lied to me?No, and I dont suggest you do, either.

I needed a NYS Inspection for my car, I tried to get one at a couple of the oil change/tire places but I got the impression that they didnt want to do the inspection since I wasnt getting any other work done, thats when I remembered that I had repairs done at Gills in Halfmoon and the service was great, so I decided to come to the Gills in Burnt Hills and I was equally impressed by their quality and professionalism and they will be the place that I bring all my repairs and maintenance to from now on.

Truly a cut Above the rest. In full disclosure I am a shop owner myself that visited this facility for one reason. Why did they win the National Allstar award. I wanted to see. The answer is simple. 2022-01-01Very professional and timely service. I have exclusively used Gil’s for all of my family auto care needs for over 25 years. I have been extremely satisfied and, in a small community where customer satisfaction is paramount, their foremost concern is making you happy by doing whatever it takes to get the job done correctly. Still a family business and personal just like the “old days”when a repeat satisfied customer means more than the extra dollar or two of profit. They take pride in the job they do and the people they are doing the work for and it shows from the counter up front to the bays in the back of the shop!

2021-12-13I tried Gils out after I heard very good reviews. Honestly I havent been happier with a repair shop. They took the time to discuss what was going on, and to answer the questions I had. They explained why it was happening, and gave me options to address the various repairs. They also took the time to deal with my extended warranty company. Last time I used the warranty I had about 15 calls I made personally. They have earned my business and appreciation.

2022-06-29Weve had great service at Gils. They are fair and dont try to push unnecessary work. My husband drives for work and they do everything they can to get his car done in one day. Great customer service!

2022-04-16After spending 5 months trying to find a Valvokine to do my NYS inspection, and having no luck due to staffing and scheduling challenges, I finally got a ticket for out of date inspection. Officer said Gils has openings, and my SO called to make an appointment a week later. He got the date wrong, and showed up a day early. When the service manager realized SO had driven a half hour to the shop, they made room for him. SO waited in a comfortable waiting area, and we appreciate that the service manager was able to see us that day. They handled our misunderstanding with grave and kindness. The added oil change was only $40. Will definitely make the time to go back when services are needed! My dealer went out of business in early COVID, so all of my services would be out-of-pocket. Gils has a great reputation, for a reason.
