Great place to go see a movie(s)! It is a throw back to the past no doubt! They show current movies! They have a good snack bar available too!, plus restrooms also! You can bring your own food! & drinks with you! I would most definitely recommend it for a night out with the family for sure!
Good for a nostalgic experience. The snack bar is mainly what keeps these places afloat and they had a decent selection. The food is typical concession stand fare and quality. The popcorn and pretzel with nacho cheese were ok and not too expensive. Overall, good alternative to going to a movie theater. $40 total for 2 adults, 2 kids, a small popcorn, a pretzel with nacho cheese, and some Swedish fish to watch 2 movies.
This has been around since the 58. Its a great place to go. It needs a little updating but it is still a great place. Where else can you see two movies for$10 a adult. We try to go every time we come up for vacation. The website says the speakers are just for show. So bring a portable FM radio so you dont drain your car battery. Last year I had to jump start someone when their battery died. Brings back memories of when we were kids and also when we brought our own kids here when they were little.
2022-- always support the snack bar, however dropping to 4 stars as I waited 25 minutes for burger after they were open 40 minutes then there like sorry will fill ketchup later... Like advice I try to support you guys but please be ready for guest arriving everyone was angry, and I prefer not to get mcd on the way etc.. Other then that still great to watch moviesHands down still one of the best and cheapest ways to watch a movie. 10per adult, 5per kid but the concession stand is not a rip off either, you get two movies, plenty of spots, use your radio in the car though as the outside ones are getting pretty old but most do work.... theyve been here forever, just nice place.... my battery died one visit and they gave me a starter pack to use!
Love going to this drive in. Just wish they would start the trailers before 8:45 so that we dont leave at 1:30 am after 2nd movie. The intermission could be shorter too. You would have more families stay. I DO NOT like running the car for all that time. My car only stays on for 2 min in accessory mode.
My family and I have been attending movies at the Glen Drive-In Theater for many years. The staff has always been helpful and friendly and the grounds are kept clean. 90% of the movies released our family watches released at the Glen Drive-In. The admission prices are low enough our family can attend and watch 2 movies AND purchase food and beverages from the snack bar for less than the admission prices to see a single movie at one of the local indoor theaters.
Great place to catch a new movie during this quarantine time-loop. Prices are great, bathrooms are clean, all in all a great experience. Remember some blankets since its been getting cooler out. We arrived at 7 but could have waited until 7:30. Still plenty of spots to get one youd be happy with.
Friendly staff. A throwback to the days of the drive-in. They show older movies rather than newer ones but who cares. Its still a good time and a nice night out. Fully stocked snack bar and delicious popcorn add to its appeal. Ill definitely be back for next years vacation.
Weve been coming here for 4 decades. Things look a little different in these COVID times, but its still charming and quaint. A really nice snack bar, updated bathrooms (from the blast from the past) and a great staff. The saddest change is the loss of the speakers. Those remind me of my childhood, and were just perfect for enjoying a movie out under the stars!!
This is a great drive in! With a family friendly environment, courteous staff, and double feature its well worth the money. I would give it 5 stars if they updated their speakers. Most of the speakers dont work and the ones that do, arent loud enough or sound blown. I know most people use their car speakers but its nice to have the option.
First time at a drive in since all the ones near my hometown are closed down. Super experience. Came with a battery operated radio...reception was perfect. Staff was nice. Bugs were not...but thats part of the experience. I wouldnt change a thing. Will be back for many years to come. And...another review mentioned the high prices for snacks - I totally disagree. Prices were totally reasonable (especially for a movie theater) and with $10 for a double feature new release its the best deal in town.
Such a great local spot that goes severely underrated as a venue for a great show. Under the COVID-19 troubles, they still manage to put on a great showing of the older classics and is worth going for a watch. Looking forward to next season already. Thank you for remaining a great spot for the north country.
We love this old school theater. Its a yearly tradition. My one suggestion is get there early! There havent been any maintenance on the speakers to hear the movies in the last 30 years that I have known of. There are very few actual working ones any more. The theater has its own broadcasting system though, so you can bring your own portable radio to listen on. Each screen has its own station, and they are each prominently displayed in multiple spots as you enter and pay for your tickets. The screens are huge, and have recently been updated. The projectors have also been recently updated and everything is now digital. There is ample parking, and 95% of the parking spots offer a phenomenal view of the screen. You can bring your own snacks and drinks still, with no additional fees. Just remember, no alcoholic beverages outside of your vehicle, no glass containers, and you arent5allowed to have grills any more.If you have a tailgate up to watch the movie from your vehicle, bring a small rope to tether it down to roof height so your not blocking others view of the screen. If you plan on sitting outside, make sure you bring chairs as sitting on blankets on the ground is also forbidden.
I was disappointed for the first time ever this summer. Mostly kids movies. Anything we were interested in watching was removed and replaced before we could go, while other movies, mostly geared towards kids, were left running for weeks and weeks at a time. First summer I can remember not going even once. We usually go 4 or 5 times every year. Hopefully next year we will be able to go. Would like to see a better lineup in 2020.One of my favorite places to go honestly!
OPEN AS OF JULY 2020 on Fri, Sat, Sun only showing oldies shows!!!!! Arrive early, as parking is limited to half the usual capacity. Old school, outdoor movie fun!! Lots of people being chairs, kids, dogs and fun. Frisbees, baseball, and other play activities are common before the show starts. Food is pretty good, fast food type quality, served fast and reasonably priced compared to other theatres.
We saw The Lion King last night and really enjoyed ourselves. I saw many comments about the speakers there not working. If you look at there website it clearly states the old window speakers are for looks only they do not function at all. People should read the website or at least pay attention to the previews where it clearly says to tune your radio to the specific radio station, ie. 104.3 FM for screen 2. Because we did pay attention the sound was great! We didnt have a problem with others being rude but that will depend on the day you go. The price was very reasonable. $10 for adults, $5 for 4-12 and under 4 is free. So for our family of 4 to go watch a movie and have a nice family experience it cost us $25. Of course an added benefit over an indoor theater is you can bring all of your own snacks and drinks. I cant comment on their snack bar, we saved melber by bringing our own treats. The bathrooms were a little grimy but they served their purpose. Its a shame drive-ins are becoming a thing of the past. We made a nice little bed in the bed of our truck and snuggled up with our 3 and 6 year olds. Take time for your young kids and enjoy them It goes by to quick.
Always love coming here with my family in the summer. Cant beat the price. Only thing is I wish that the food they served was as good as the food advertised during the intermission, especially since they encourage people to buy their food so they can earn more profit than just the tickets. But other than that I think its a great place to go on a Friday or Saturday summer night.
This was a great experience. My family and I really enjoyed the drive in theater. The outside speakers on some of the parking spots were broke but they were some spots that were functioning. Also you can use you car speakers and tune in to the movie. I wish the person we bought the tickets at the booth would have mentioned it in the beginning.
A definite treat to be able to take my 12 year old son to a drive in. There are two screens showing double features at dusk, a refreshment stand, bathrooms, and wasnt crowded on a hot (Thursday) July night. Id gave it stars even tho some tree branches were blocking part of one screen and the speakers work no longer work. Cant beat the entry prices: $10 adult, $5 child. And you can pay with a bank card👍
Awesome drive-in for the lucky few to survive in an era of mega theaters and home streaming. Its soo much better to be able to sit in your own vehicle with your own volume setting and temperature setting than to deal with what the theater provides and you dont have to worry about having to reserve a seat or seats either. Sound was years better than a traditional theater surround sound and picture quality was better as well, just as good as an imax theater, but outdoors. All-in-all experience was awesome and makes me start to wonder why many disappeared over the years
Great place to watch movies but their food isnt really good.. Cold pretzel with cold cheese sause. Their cheese sticks tasted very doughy like it wasnt cooked all the way. The being said the staff there are really nice! The bathrooms were very outdated with no locks on the stalls..
This drive in is pretty retro, but in a good way. This was my first drive-in movie theater that Ive been in, and I did have a great time. The concession stand had pretty much anything you would need. The only complaint I have is that the bathrooms are a little sketchy.
What better way to watch a movie than in your car. Like they did in the 50s and 60s. Picture quality is perfect. The speakers dont all work in every parking spot. Although you dont need them as you tune into certain radio station on your cars radio. Two screens allows you to watch two movies they are playing for one admission fee. Concession stand is great. Wide selection of snacks. Popcorn, hot dogs, candy, soda, etc. We visit every year when in Lake George.
Quality of image was good. Restrooms were lacking and need of repairs. Larger suvs and minivans were in front rows. Also with their hatches open impeding part of the screen. People with headlights on behind us. Annoying. 50% of vehicles rear facing screen. Not allowed according to rules. Had a great time. Missing playgrounds for the kids?
$9 for two movies is an unbeatable price. Usually a good selection of movies, too. There are 2 screens at this drive in. I recommend bringing a radio if you dont plan to use your car radio because the speakers they have dont really work well. Glen Drive-in is a frequent summer tradition for us. Great for the kids, too!
We absolutely love going to this drive-in every year when we visit Lake George. The movies are cheap ($10 per adult) and you get to watch two movies back to back. Everything is dated, but you’ll still get the unique experience that only a drive-in theater can offer. The only thing that I can suggest, as it’s happened the last two trips, is maybe have someone walk around during the second film. I’m not against pot at all, but as a non-smoker it’s annoying to have to keep my windows up because of the really strong stench floating around.
My first ever movie experience was at the glen drive-in and my kids followed the same tradition! This is by far my favorite place to see a movie and I will always chose it over an indoor movie theater. You really cant beat the price either! The staff are great at making sure everyone stays safe and follows the rules!
Kids these days are stuck to their IPads. I was on vacation and my kids got to experience a drive in. How many kids today can say that. 2 movies for 9 is a bargain. It was a great time. It helps them appreciate what they have. They get to throw a ball around and sit outside. I have not been to a Drive in about 25 years, as there arent any in my area. I was pleasantly surprised and for my children to experience it was that much better. Thank you!!
The Glen Drive Theatre is the best summer bargain for fun and a memory that your children will remember and cherish for their whole life. To be able to enjoy some first run movies, enjoy the snack bar, but most of all to have a nite with your family. With all the electronic disruption that today devices do to make a group adventure so difficult, the drive in experience is an all inclusive evening that will have you coming back time after time. Go early find a good spot, bring a ball to through around, bring a radio to listen if youve bought chairs to sit outside. Dont forget the bug spray. Make
A throwback for nostalgic purposes only. Took the kids to share an experience that will soon be only a memory. The facility was what you would expect of a drive in. The days of considerate people are also fading, so sharing space with them makes drive in viewing a crapshoot. People give you dirty looks for parking next to them, people leave their headlights on, and argue and exit cars make a rucus. Not the establishments fault, but not how I want to enjoy a film either.
I took my little sister to see Leap and the Nut Job 2. The place is well advertised from the street so youre not going to drive by it. The guy at the gate collecting money for tickets was friendly enough. Just counted the people in my car and charged the appropriate price. There werent too many people there so I had a good choice for parking space to view the movies from my car. I know they have a bathroom and snack bar but I didnt use either. The old school intermission was kinda cool, slightly annoyed how it kept saying to go to the snack bar but hey I mean charging $10 adult and $5 kids for two movies I dont blame them for agressively pushing more sales during the intermission. My only advice would be to tell all the lifted trucks or other high elevation vehicles to park in the back. It wasnt an issue for me because I was able to find a section with out any in my way but I feel if it was a more popular night this would be an issue for smaller vehicles.
More then half the speakers do not work.... The bathrooms are horrible..... In the intermission... They say the $ goes to updating the place..... Thats a total lie. Hasnt ever been touched in several years!!! Then let people switch movies to interrupt the others with the lights of the other cars. Love drive inns but this place needs a lot of help!!!
This is an incredible treasure I never want to lose for our children. You can sneak in your own food, but why would you want to? By buying your food at the concessions stand, you can help support the theater and help preserve it for the future. Saving a few dollars now, isnt worth the cost.
Dont let these die out!! Not many remaining. This one is in need of a upgrade to speaker system, land scaping, screens need maintenance, bathrooms massive disrepair. Its one of those nostalgic things that are only surviving on what they are appears the owners dont really care about the place just the revenue.
There is a reason drive-in theaters are becoming extinct and there is nothing that can be done to stop that. Besides the awful audio quality and volume (speakers outside are quiet and broadcast signal is weak), the people that attend the theater are what will ultimately lead to the demise. People with their car running, a/c fans buzzing, multiple people that do not even know how to turn off their headlights (seriously they had to tape trash bags over them), moving cars during the screening and the list goes on.
Overall was a fun night. We saw the Hussle and Detective Pikachu. Food was good with good prices. Only thing missing was the fact their old school speakers didnt work and there isnt a Bluetooth option to listen in. The only way to listen is on fm radio yet I like sitting outside. They did however provide me with a radio so I could do so.
The drive in itself is a great experience but beware of cashier. She tried to charge me $146 grossly overcharging for 2 popcorns and 3 drinks. She was belligerent and rude to top it off when I asked her to clarify. Her inability to do basic math made me feel like she probably finds ways to overcharge people regularly.
This was a blast!!! A late night, double feature picture show with my sweetie. Plus it was fun to get old fashioned snacks. They have adult options and a family option on two screens facing in opposite directions to that children arent traumatized by violence/sex and that adults are saved from pablum.
Tried to have a nice night out with my husband tonight at the Glen Drive-In Theatre tonight but as it turns out, it seems the owner Brett Gardner is a complete hot head who knows nothing about following his own etiquette guidelines as stated on his website and proceeded to follow my husband to our car and harass and physically challenge my husband. During the previews there was a vehicle parked next to the building with its lights on shinning brightly into our car so my husband walked back to ask it they could turn them off. It appeared no one was in the car so my husband came back to ours. Then after the movie started the lights came on again with no apparent movement of the car so my husband walked back again to see if the driver would be willing to turn them off or park behind the building because now it seemed it was one of the workers. The man that he questioned immediately got belligerent so my husband left. At the end of the first movie he went back to the concession stand to ask for a manager and this same man came out and said They werent on that long, just get back into your car, this isnt going down this way to which my husband asked who the owner was and this man continued to say this ist going down this way. When my husband left the building to come back to the car this man followed him and approached our car attempting to take pictures of our liscence plate. When Dan stood in between him and the back of our car he threatened that he was going to call Warren Co Sheriff Dept. and asked my husband if he was going to drop him on the ground. My husband (with an are you kidding me kind of tone) said no Im not going to touch you do you want me to leave? And the guy then told him yes, get off my property. So my husband got in the car and we left. WE WILL NEVER AGAIN RETURN!
Highly recomend going to the movie theaters than here.. out of towners will be disappointed if youve never been.. It would have been alot better watching toy story 4 if we could hear it...speakers didnt work, and I would say the 4 cars around us speakers did not work either.... same speakers there that were there 35 years ago.. they really need to update ... wont be back... 😕
One of the only few out door drive in left, they have two screens witch means you can pick from four different movies to watch, theres nothing like the old time drive in nothing like being cramped in a indoor theater, takes you back to when you were a kid and went to the movies with your parents
Love this pkace.. my son and I come often, 2 movies for the price of one..cant beat it..we get there early to play frisbee or soccer..we make a whole night of it, and like everyone else we do bring outside food with us like pizza hut or McDonalds but we always stop at the concession stand for popcorn, soda and candy.. they dont make a whole lot off the movies so we show our support by always purchasing somthing, This is a great experience and there are only around 350 drive ins in the country so if your visiting from out of town and dont have one near where you live, grab some lawn chairs, blankets and pillows put the kiddos in their PJs and have a great night at the drive in

2021-07-17Support the local Drive in.Just like I remember it... clean, fun.Every person should have a Drive In experience.. this is a good one to visit.Food prices are inexpensive, as compared to movie theaters. A huge bucket of popcorn was less than 4 bucks.. hot dogs and hamburgers were inexpensive.. BUY some refreshments when there, and keep the Glen Drive In open for business. Its a safe pace to escape COVID!

2022-06-28Over the years, not much has changed here, but that’s not a bad thing. You can still enjoy a double feature, popcorn, candy, and fast food like chicken tenders, big pretzels, mozz sticks, etc. for less $ than one movie at a traditional theater. I love the drive-in for its unique outdoor experience, and as a local, I am thankful this drive-in is still open for business!

2020-08-03We enjoyed the movie. We watched Back to the future . The area is clean. They have 2 big screen playing different movies. The price is $10 for adults, $5 for child includes 2 movies. The staff are absolutely friendly. They have a concession where you can buy popcorn, soda, pretzels, chicken fingers (just to name a few). My kids loved the atmosphere. Drive in movie theater is definitely an awesome experienced my 2 kids will remember.

2021-11-07Glen drive in theater is amazing ! I wish I knew the owners name because he was more than amazing ! I was with my friend n her daughter to watch 2 movies n in the middle of the first movie our valve in the tire broke n the tire went completely flat . Neither of our phones had service so we asked to use the phone n he gladly let us use his. So we tired getting a hold of someone to come help but no luck . So out of the kindness of his heart he got his tools n came right over n helped get the flat tire off the car n got the spare from under the car n put it on n put air in it for us ! Then he asked if we go there a lot n we both said yeah because we r always bringing the kids or even just us adults! We love the drive ins ! 😍 then he said when u go to leave stop at the ticket booth n grab it money back since u didnt get to watch the movie ! He most definitely didnt have to come help up change our tire n he definitely didnt have to give our money back ! That was the most amazing thing ! I wish I could thank him more ! Hes amazing !

2021-06-13So nice to go to the drive in again! They did some upgrades on the bathroom and the staff was so nice! Had a great time!
