One of my resolutions for the new year is to explore more local restaurants, specifically searching for breakfast spots. Glen Edith is a cozy spot off Park Ave. I stopped in with my husband for breakfast and coffee on a cold, snowy Friday morning. I ordered avocado toast with an egg and a latte. I also split an almond pastry with my husband. Everything was fresh and delicious. I am looking forward to tasting some of their other options in the near future!
One of my favorite coffee places. They do expertly crafted pour-over coffees, as well as espresso drinks. Their food is also really spectacular, though the vegan options are limited (but they do exist!). Pictured is A Toast of Green Envy (their avocado toast, vegan). This was taken on their outdoor seating area, which was surprisingly quiet and peaceful, for being right off busy Park Ave.
Wow, eat these waffles, you wont be disappointed. We got the pumpkin one (I imagined its seasonal, get it if you can!) And it was delicate, spongy, and buttery with a delicious topping of a kind of cream cheese frosting (not too sweet). The pumpkin spice latte was wonderfully NOT sweet, with a great balance of pumpkin and spice. The lavender cardamom latte was similarly not sweet and had an excellent balance of flavors.Update: I was only visiting Rochester and Im so sad I dont live there so I can eat these waffles all the time.
Loved it. My espresso was great. The staff was personable and quick. The feel of the place is incredibly chill. Set here with friends for a couple hours and could of stayed longer if it wasnt closing. I will be coming back!Edit: Just wanted to say Ive been back here many many times since this review. My drink is perfect EVERY SINGLE TIME! I will keep coming back!
Such a cool place!Visited from out of state. The barista was friendly and super helpful. I was having the trouble finding parking but I called and she helped me figure out where to park. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. I had a lavender cardamom latte and a pourover and the coffee was GREAT. Hope I can come back to this place again sometime.
Used to love coming here for their drinks, staff, and ambience. Havent been in a while, stopped in and it picked up where it last left off. If you arent a normal coffee drinker then you might be a little lost reading their menu, but their staff is nice and should be able to offer you drinks youll love based off of what you like or are used to!
I really like this place for doing work or meeting up with people. Coffee is good. However, the reward system needs a revamp. You have to spend $5 to receive your customer loyalty points, not including tax, which isnt very customer friendly... especially considering that most drinks are under this threshold, even though with tax Im spending more than $5 on a latte.
Super spot to grab a brewed for you coffee, to go, or to enjoy in their ample seating. Coffee is roasted in house, and it’s respectfully done so not to burn or over roast the beans. Great flavours emerge as a result. Snacks are from local bakeries and food items are also available, though I didn’t eat during my visit. On the coffee side, brewed coffees are hand crafted with pour over or Chemex as you place your order. Espresso based drinks are available as well. My latter was excellent!
Great atmosphere for studying, reading, or catching up with a friend. Coffee is kind of expensive and their iced selection is not only limited but comes in very small containers. I would give 5 stars if their serving size was bigger. Other than that I enjoy spending time at this location.
This is a fantastic coffee shop. It has the modern reclaimed wood/ subway tile/ communal table feel of so many 3rd Wave coffee shops. The staff is really nice. The customers are really hip, friendly and youthful. There is plenty of seating. And most importantly, the coffee is on point! The Slayer espresso is excellent!Dont be distracted by the out-of-the-way location. It only adds to the charm as a neighborhood place...its definitely not a Starbucks, or even like a Blue Bottle or Intelligentsia...its better than all of those in almost every way.
If you have not been here yet, you are truly missing out on a delicious cup of coffee. Glen Edith is one of my favorite coffee shops in Rochester. Definitely a jewel. My other favorite is Ugly Duck. I have not had a bad cup of coffee here nor a bad latte. The vanilla lattes have a rich flavor and the sweetness, cream, and expresso are perfectly proportioned. I only wished they had larger serving sizes. I recently bought the Bean Cruiser and Kenya AA coffee beans for both coffee press and cold brew at home. Since then, I have fallen in love with the Bean Cruiser in both cold brew and press. It is rich, delicious, and mellow. The Kenya AA has very distinct flavors that overshadow everything, including cream and sugar, and that is a bit overwhelming for me. It is not bad, but I would not purchase it again. Some will love the flavors, but not my cup of Joe. The Bean Cruiser on the other hand will replace my current coffee.
The coffee and drinks here are always good. was actually pretty hungry when I walked in one evening. Told the barista I needed the sandwich she made to change the rest of my life, and she didnt flinch. I think that was a good sign. Love the seating, and atmosphere. Great space.
This is an amazing place! The coffee is literally the best Ive had in Rochester. Smooth, bold, and no hint of acidic or bitter aftertaste. Not to mention every time I arrive one of the staff members greets me. Excellent service! You need to come here and show some love for this small coffee shop!
Glen Edith has the most delicious coffee Ive ever had. If they have their Ethiopian coffee on pour over, youll find me there. This particular location is fairly nice and comfy. Gives off a very relaxed and 70s vibe except the music which is mostly indie music. Their food is overpriced, but still tasty. Employees are pretty nice. The place itself is okay, Cafe Sasso has the nicer vibe, but the Ethiopian coffee wins me over every time. Delicious pour over.
Fantastic coffee and espresso drinks (as well as mini-bar) for reasonable prices. Parking situation is less-than-optimal but you make due with what you have. Internal atmosphere is close knit and quaint. Wi-Fi available to customers. Finger foods and short menu offered. Coffee related accessories also available for purchase. Love this spot for either a quick cup to go or a lengthy sit-and-sip session with a good book!
Top shelf coffee shop. Everything is on point but one thing to know; if you like strong dark coffee you may want to order something different. I am a fan of strong dark coffee and they mainly do pour over with the lighter roasted fruity coffees. Their espresso has a little sourness to it as well, not a knock on the place but just an FYI.
The only place in Rochester where Ive found Kombucha on tap. I cannot speak on the coffee (it is mainly a coffee place) but their food is good as well but Its not a dinner place. You cannot go wrong with their Waffles.Great place to do homework or watch the day go by. Staff is friendly and it is typically packed on Sundays so plan accordingly.
Phenomenal little coffee house nestled in an alley off of Park Ave. The coffee is always top notch and expertly crafted, whether that be a latte or pour over. Sure youre going to wait a little longer than if you hit up Starbucks, but believe me, the wait is well worth it!
The placeI really love what they did in the place. It has a clean, bright modern look to it. Whoever made the chalk board menus has some serious talent. Seems like a great place to go and get some work done or just chill with a few friends and enjoy a coffee. The coffeeYes the coffee what can I say besides I wish I could visit this place daily. This is my first time with Verve coffee and now I am online about to order some for my own house. My wife and I both ordered a Vanilla bean lattes and I can honestly say this was one of the best lattes I have ever had. First of the barista explained to us how they caramelize pure can sugar then scrape vanilla beans into it. Talk about high quality!!! Most places use syrups and sauces they buy in a bottle in their lattes not these guys. I loved the flavor it was a perfect blend of a great espresso, milk and the faint but distant taste of vanilla. My wife was equally impressed as I was. I cant wait to come back to Rochester to try this place again. The staffI was equally impressed with the staff they were so friendly and patient with me. I admit I am a hard customer at a coffee shop I always ask the barista what they recommend. She was a huge help and went overboard to ask what kind of coffee I liked to figure out what I might like. The verdictI really love everything about this place including the hipster vibe. My only complain and would end up giving this place a 4.5 if I could was the price. The latte was 5 bucks for a 10 ounce which is pretty pricey!! I know it was high quality but that still is high. The only other complaint would is a loyalty program. I dont live in the area but most any coffee shop I have been to has one. Example you buy 10 or 12 drinks you get one free. If they have one I saw nothing showing it nor did she mention any thing about it. Even so I would come back I just would be hesitant to come as often at that price point.
Stopped in for coffee at this hipster spot with folks on laptops whispering to each other over their fancy pour over coffees. I ordered one from a very friendly handsome man. When I received my coffee and went to pour in the milk and sugar, I found two nasty bugs floating in my coffee!! Talk about an appetite suppressant. Servers graciously refunded my money and I left, coffeeless.
Trying to enter into the coffee shop world my friend recommended that I go to this place to find perspective of what great coffee should taste like. Its a nicely nested coffee shop off of park ave thats very inviting as soon as you walk through the door. I was politely asked what I wanted but received with less finesse after I replied with I have no clue. As I said it was my first time at a coffee shop and I had no taste for preference. Asking to be introduced in to what could be good coffee the boy behind the counter was less than enthusiastic about explaining anything. I didnt let it stop me and I pressed on, as I had many questions on brewing methods and techniques for my homebrewing. Mind you or wasnt busy no one else was waiting in lone yet eye rolling and short answers were the sum of the interactions. Even to the point where my friend was asking me if I got the hint of his annoyance. I was curious. Finally the young man admitted that he was relatively new, which could account for many of his frustration, and that my questions could be better answered by someone else (who was not there) I found that experience a little less than pleasant. Coffee could not have been claimed at the best I have tasted. BUT! the company was great and the day was beautiful. And this first visit was by NO means a waste of time. Recommend
Wow- since when does a skim latte automatically come loaded with cinnamon on top ? I so enjoy glen Edith s lattes and have been getting them for over a year - and I have NEVER ever had a latte served this way . When I asked the server if she mistakenly added a Flavor, she happily replied “oh it s cinnamon”....not even acknowledging that SHE took the liberty of adding the load of cinnamon on to a normally great tasting latte. It tasted just like i was drinking , well- cinnamon instead of a latte . I know I should have asked her to make me another latte - the way I ordered it , but I just didn t ....since she gave NO acknowledgement that I was unhappy with my drink and she obviously saw nothing wrong with doing what she did. I should have been more assertive but I didn’t want any drama...and at $5.40 for a 10 ounce latte, (and what s up with the sudden almost 20% increase anyway?) it should be what you order , shouldn’t it ?
The best goddamn cup of coffee in the ROC hands down. Panamanian pour over is always my go to. I live in Syracuse and come out to Rochester to see music, but the coffee and atmosphere here would be worth the drive alone. Can hardly wait until the next time I get to enjoy this place again. Bravo
Came in to do some work, and ordered a latte. The latte was good. As I was working I noticed how cold it was inside Glen Edith to the point where I could not feel my fingers as I was trying to type on my laptop. And this was not because of people walking in and out/door being opened, it was just so cold in there. The person with me started shivering so we decided to take off. I thought coffee joints were supposed to be cozy?

2022-05-08I judge the quality of a coffee shop by there standard coffee. In regular brew, one can not hide poor tasting coffee with milk, cream, caramel, or other additives. This place was outstanding for their regular coffee. Home roasting and careful brewing were present in every sip. Tried other coffee shops around this neighborhood, they had lots of vibes, but the end product were not up to the mark. Will stop by again.

2022-03-22In my opinion if you are looking for whole bean coffee to grind and like lighter roasts specialty coffee...GE is the best in the area. You get a roast on date and a sweet smooth cup. Ive tried a lot of the others and so far none compare and wanted to say that. Keep up the great work!

2022-04-14Went here with my son for some gourmet coffee and they did not disappoint. He had black bean cruiser blend and I had a latte add lavender and cardemon! Yum, yum, yummy! They brought it to me at the table with a real glass mug!!! Highly recommend.

2019-08-11Looks like a really solid cafe. Seemed like the obvious choice for Roc. Really appealing aesthetic. Cortado had a bit of a roasted flavor to it but not bitter at all. The little churro bite was a nice addition! Three star mainly for slightly over priced drinks as well as a much longer than necessary wait. But not a bad place to work on the Mac for a while.

2020-03-19Visited here Saturday Mar 14th. There is a very small parking lot and another parking lot for a plaza across the coffeehouse. I parked in that plaza parking lot even though technically we were allowed! From their instagram I believe this business is still open for takeout! Their instagram is @glenedithcoffee!!Anyways, I’ve always heard of great things about Glen Edith and Glen Edith’s name is a staple rochester local business. I had the mocha kick latte and the lumber long john sandwich. The mocha definitely had a kick to it, I found that most of the spiciness was at the top of the drink but honestly gave me more time to recover with the rest of the drink. I don’t usually prefer spicy drinks but I wanted something with capsaicin to honestly kill any bad things in my body just in case with this whole pandemic 😅 As for the sandwich it was very tasty and I tell my friends this all the that pesto is the besto! Highly Recommend! At the time when they had dine in options still allowed in NYS, Glen Edith was taking extra precautions and using all disposable cups and plates which was a great precaution that they were taking at the time. I hope the dine in options will get better in NYS soon because this is an excellent place to chill and do work at!
