Only writing a review because there is a man from a few months ago who made a review publicly that States that Glens Falls animal hospital does not accept pit bulls he said that they discriminate breed. ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE! I have a 7 year old pure bred pitty that I take to GFAH who has been vetted there since before he was my responsibility to vet. Additionally one of the techs at the veterinarians office owns one of my dogs sisters and vets her there as well as 1 of my best friends who also owns 1 of my dogs sisters all from the same litter. All of them are vetted at this institution. That man is absolutely inaccurate and uneducated and that is not fair to the practice. They have done great by me and by mycurrent/previous 5 dogs and 2 cats! I have never had a problem with them including during covid when I was losing my mastiff and they curbside helped me with an ivy for her.
Every time there is an appointment they staff will keep you waiting for close to or over an hour in the parking lot. Don’t ever make any other plans. Have taken off work for a vet appointment twice. Last time waited almost 90 min in the parking lots after my scheduled time to be seen and this time I have been sitting here for 45 min and still nothing. Definitely do not recommend. Stay away! Any good recommendations on a quality vet in the Queensbury area?
I decided to use Glens Falls Animal Hospital in 2017 after an encounter with Dr. John. I was referred to this hospital because they had a crematorium and my 16 yr old lab, Daisy, had grown progressively ill. Dr. John O’Connor was very kind and compassionate. I was extremely grateful for his display of empathy. The process was as I had experienced several times before, a peaceful passing.Unfortunately I would have to euthanize another beloved pet this week, a four year lab. My expectation of euthanasia was based on the prior experience. My expectations were not met. The procedure apparently changed within the 2 1/2 years. The change has left me traumatized as my last memories are punctuated with the horrific ending of a dearly loved service dog.My companion and I are deeply troubled by this euthanasia w/o sedation. My dog was cognitively intact, sitting tremulously & fearful while being euthanized w/o sedation first. The process was barbaric and fractured my trust in the vet I permitted to treat my family member. Neither my companion nor I has ever witnessed euthanasia without sedation first. He had three dogs euthanized throughout his lifetime & I have had three dogs euthanized, two at this facility. We have never seen this method of euthanasia.I spoke to an office staff, they told me that the “new” way was quick. Sedation was both optional and available if requested. While she promised to relay my negative experience to the responsible vet.It was important for me to have the young lady relay this experience because I believe feedback is a gift.I am grateful that the cremation was completed in approx 24 hours.I am grateful that the staff scheduled my visits very quickly.I am grateful that the vet was flexible and helped me to the best of his ability.I am grateful to have had 7 weeks of quality time to both nurse Tuck to the best of my ability and to let hope float for as long as possible.
It’s 6 months and you still can’t go in with your pet? Really! Some pets have anxiety and need their people with them. It’s just a way for vets to see more pets and move them out quicker. Can you imagine taking your child to the doctor and not being able to go in. Great way to care about our pets.
To not be allowed in with your pet who has social anxiety issues is terrible. My pet has needed his shots for awhile now and he gets very afraid at the vet so I asked can I come in with him and they said no! I said why and their answer was because we don’t have enough time to disinfect the room? Shouldn’t they do that anyway. Isn’t it a doctors office? Make time and adjust but not allowing pet owners to go in with their pets just sounds like they can make more money quicker with a drop off service. Truly sad and disheartening coming from vets.
On Christmas Eve 2020, my parents had a horrific and unnecessarily cruel experience when Dr. Bob euthanized their cat. They were told that it would be a peaceful, calm experience, they would be able to hold her as she passed, and that it would take about five minutes for her to go to sleep. This is how it would have been if the vet had used a sedative, but HE DID NOT USE A SEDATIVE. Instead, my parents watched as their frightened cat was killed instantly with a single injection which caused her to cry out in pain, and dropped dead in front of them. When I called the office, Taylor (who showed a lot more compassion than Dr. Bob did to my parents and their cat) explained to me that this is their standard procedure. THEY DO NOT USE A SEDATIVE. I believe that my parents were deliberately lied to about the process, because what was described to them before they made the decision to bring their cat in is how it would have gone if a sedative was used. But USING A SEDATIVE IS NOT THEIR STANDARD.Dr. Bob entirely lacks compassion for the animals he treats and the people who love them. He has caused immeasurable pain to my mother, who was absolutely traumatized by her experience there. Losing her beloved cat would have been difficult under the best of circumstances, and the way that Dr. Bob put her down, and then said, Have a nice day, as if nothing had happened, has left her absolutely distraught and inconsolable. There is no excuse for not using a sedative, or for not even offering one. I believe that they deliberately lied to my parents about what the process would be like, because they know that if they told people the truth, no one would ever bring their pet through the front door.I beg of you, dont go here.
Revised:Moving upstate not too long ago meant leaving my pets vet behind as well. I am super picky about where my pups are taken because I just love them so much.Although at first I didn’t have any issues with Glens Falls Animal Hospital; I do have to say my opinion has changed a bit since going here. They are available As far scheduling and that’s about the most they have going for them. The doctors change to often and the staff behind the counter isn’t very helpful or mindful with things going on around them. There seems to be a carelessness attitude given off. Recently my pup cracked her nail and had been in horrible pain and when the doctor tried to observe her he held her In a way that hurt her and left her trying to run away from him in tears. They gave me no antibiotics for her toe which was clearly inflamed and heading towards infection. And sent us on our way.I have since taken her elsewhere where she has received the proper care she deserves all along. Go to Helping Paws Veterinary who really care about the one on one care of your extended family members(pets). Compassion and attention is what you will receive. Period.
The friendly staff takes care of your pet or whatever you have as a pet! We always use them for everything regarding our little dog, Chewie the groomer(s) are on point and will do exactly what you want, tell them what you need done and itll happen, prices reflect professionalism.Id spend whatever it takes to keep my dog happy, healthy and clean- the staff loves all types of animals, the waiting room is large enough to accommodate everyone- but its a safe place, with friendly staff- they love animals!
I wanted to tell you how AMAZING Glens Falls Hospital was for us in our time of need. We were visiting from Florida a few weeks ago and ran into a huge issue with our 17 year old dog. The doctors and staff were incredible with us. I can tell you that not only did they get us in immediately, but they took their time and truly cared about us. We ended up having to put our dear Lucy down as soon as we returned home, but thanks to the wonderful, caring doctors we were able to enjoy a few more days with our precious pet and return home. I would highly recommend this hospital. They are amazing!!!
Called today to set up my new puppies 11 week old shots and check up and my 2 yr dogs who has been going there for two yrs now . The Receptionists i spoke to was very rude and would not let me even get a word in edge wise. Needless to say I am changing my vet because of the people who are answering the phone.
These folks are amazing. What was ideally supposed to be a two-visit procedure for my cat to have a tumor removed has turned into an ordeal- not on their part, just some complications with the healing process. They have been incredible- making accommodations for checkups, taking us in on relatively short notice, and really making sure he really is better.I cant sing their praises enough!
I had a horrific experience at this hospital. My dog had a blockage in her intestines and needed immediate attention. It was in the evening & I was alone & tired and really should have taken her to the Northway Emergency Clinic because I made a bad decision leaving her in the care of Dr. Hoffman. The next day my dog died on the operating table. I will never forget this experience. At the time, I didnt know that Hoffman specializes in cats. In an emergency, dont go to this veterinary clinic! The sweet dog I lost was only 4.
My last experience with this trashy place did me in and we will never return. Not only did they hurt my dog they also did not apologize for it, the staff and “veterinarian” were very rude and off putting. My dog ended up having a very serious reaction to something he got into and if I had not taken her to a different vet that same day after seeing this one she very well may have died. I knew in my gut when I left that day that they’re medical assessment was incorrect and I am so thankful I listened to it. When I arrived at the new vet she explained to me that she had been having more and more people come in to her from Glens falls animal hospital after having a horrible experience. I said really?! She said yes at least a few per week and we’ve heard some absolute horror stories from former patients. We were rushed in and out of Glens falls animal hospital because they were busy I’m assuming the male vet actually walked away as I was talking to him and yelled from the hallway ok someone else will be in a minute. Maybe if he had actually paid attention this wouldn’t have happened. I should have known though from the very first time we went there and the staff was rude and not at all what we are used to from prior vets. I should have known from the poor lady I talked to that first visit outside as I took my dog to use the bathroom she was bawling her eyes out after putting her dog down and recounting the horrible and rude way she was treated I assumed maybe she was just upset over losing her dog, I should have known better. It almost ended in tragedy for me as well. Stay away from this place.
Ive been to another vet in the area, and let me tell you about the difference! At this vet, youre treated with respect, and they are HONEST! Not just out to rob you blind. They always have a vet on staff, and their hours work well with anyone. They are amazing with the animals as well, Ive seen four out of the five vets they have there, and Dr. John is my favorite. But there was a constant with all four vets that Ive seen, compassion for the animals. They take their time to actually get to know the animals, not just manhandle them. They listen to you, listen to the animals and lay out your options in ways that you can understand, without coming off condescending. The vet techs and other staff that Ive interacted with were always pleasant and very accommodating.I highly recommend this vet for anyone who loves their animals as a family member. (Also they are great if you have an emergency, Ive seen two different people just walk in with emergencies and get help.) The prices for their services are reasonable, if not cheaper than most vets in the area.
It’s disgusting that this company still will not let customers in with their pets. It’s been over a year since COVID-19 closed your doors. People can now go to stadiums to see professional sports with thousands of other people, but not the vet?The country is trying to return to normal, but not Glens Falls Animal Hospital!Vaccinations are available to everyone now. If you aren’t, maybe you shouldn’t be open!
I took my dog here for a “X-ray” on his leg. All they gave me was some medication for him and they couldn’t detect anything wrong. He progressively got worse as about two weeks went by and so I decided to opt for another vet for a second opinion. They detected bone cancer and gave me an estimated time until he passed to the rainbow bridge. Glens Falls hospital is deceiving. I called Glens Falls hospital back after I went for my second opinion asking for the Xrays and letting them know I went to another vet and they found cancer in his leg and I asked for his X-ray to be emailed to me. The vet told me he would call me back and I never got the call! I don’t think they took an X-ray on his legs and just left it at that. Do not trust these doctors. It looks like it’s all about money. Beware!!
I had a dog that had been on pain meds for a year because of her illness and she was progressively getting worse. I called GF Animal Hospital several times to make an appt to have her put to sleep only to have to cancel. My dog kept having these last burst of life and energy every time I made an appointment to put her to sleep. GF Animal Hospital was very understanding for canceling all the appointments. The day came when Chloes couldnt go on any further so I called in the morning and they got me in for the afternoon. They let us sit out back, on a blanket under the shade of a big tree to put Chloe to sleep. The staff gave us all the time we needed, they were wonderful and patient with us. Sad day!To be honest, no dog is at peace when about to be put to sleep, they know something is going to happen. Ive had dogs put to sleep in my home and they get a little bit nervous but its better than letting them suffer!
A nightmare of a place. This place has the worst most incompetent vets I have ever experienced. Had a older dog who was not well and was treated so poorly I cannot find the words to say how bad it was. What low class, incredibly awful service this was. This was my fourth and last visit I’ll take to this vet. I was treated with such a cold manner and no compassion at all for my situation and my animal. After this last visit I have spoken to many people who have told me similar stories and how they will never return. My neighbor is a elderly lady who had to put her dog to sleep and she cried as she told me they did not console her, they did not comfort her or her dog it was very clincical and cold. Some people’s pets are like family like my dogs and my friends and you don’t treat people that way when they come to you with a serious life threatening issue. I have since found a wonderful kind vet in another town and when I told him what they did to me here he was appalled at the treatment I was given. Don’t become a vet if you cannot act accordingly. Had they not sorely missed the diagnosis of my dog he may still be alive today. I have yet to decide how I’m going to handle this situation. I wouldn’t recommend this place for anything but maybe a vaccination and even that’s pushing it.
If youre looking for a place to bring your animal and want the Vet to care about them as much as you do, DO NOT go here. Its always very busy, youll usually wait 30-45 minutes and then youre in and out. My dog kept having bad reactions to medication and all they wanted to do was prescribe new pills with no alternatives. They basically slowly killed my dog because I trusted them. If you want your dog to have the best care, find somewhere else.
The receptionist is very unprofessional and has no people skills. When you bring a sick animal to the Vet it would be nice for the first person you see have some compassion, but don’t expect any at this office they have absolutely none you are just another number at this office.
I just left the vet after calling this morning at 8 am and I was in there with my 12 year old schipperke who could not walk at 9am. I was using another vet in town who I did not care for and was thinking about changing. When I called they treated me like I was a long term client. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the best part of this..I was thinking this was the end and the vet Dr. Krystal Blair was able to examine her and thought is was something minor..No pressure to do 100 test...Who knows if this is just the beginning of the end...just not today....They were able to give me some meds and off we went. The charges were very reasonable..compared to where I was before. I connected with this vet who is one with dog..her story is inspiring how she got to be a vet..So, I am so happy I found a new vet and new office...I had rescued a dog from here 10 years ago...
This place is absolutely amazing and Im so thankful there is a place so local that treats your pets with TLC. Any of the OConners are amazing doctors who care for your pet and they are great at what they do. I have never seen a place be so good to your little fur babies and get them the right treatment within minutes. I brought my cat here after a very disappointing visit with For Pets Sake and it was the best decision I ever made to bring him here. Great service, great prices, and incredible doctors. I cant express enough my love for this place and I recommend the Glens Falls Animal Hospital to anybody who believes that your pets deserve the absolute best care and treatment imaginable. If one of your babies are sick, make an appointment and ask for Bob OConner, he is amazing at what he does and you wont regret it. (Although any of the OConners are phenomenal, as they are all family and have a love for pets and want to see every animal leave their office happy, healthy, and on the road to a full recovery.) I promise you it will be the best decision you have made for the furry friend you love. :)
When my husband and I made the painful decision to let our little girl go, the vet techs listened to me cry and accommodated us and autumn. We were to have someone else help her over, my husband requested to have the vet who diagnosed her help her over. He came in explained everything what to expect and we are very grateful for this.
Thank you, Dr. Laura and staff, for being able to continue care for our familys sweet Havanese, even during the virus crisis. The parking lot hand-off worked well, multi-item care list done, supplies picked up, next appt made, no muss no fuss. Dog bounded toward me with a big smile when it was all accomplished. Thank you sooo much and be well, everyone!
Wow! Im so impressed i thought i was going to have to pay almost 300 dollars for vet services for my cats uti when i googled prices...i got outta there for 150 and that was including the rabies and antibiotic shots! i was almost in tears when i went in, so worried about my kitty, and dr. laura had me laughing throughout the whole visit...she was so sweet to my little one and took such good care of her, dont hesitate to take your pets here! and she was so patient with all of my questions! also i was basically a walk in and they got me in and out so quickly even though Id never been here before. definitely coming back here for any of my pets future needs.
What a horrible first impression. Cat swallowed a string and is not able to pass it naturally and has been puking up white foam / blood. We called to make and appointment and was asked What do you want us to do about it. I was completely appalled. How about an X-ray? How about you do your job and take care of animals. Disgusted.
Growing up we always had dogs that we brought to Glenn falls animal hospital for everything. Now that I am older and on my own (living in the city) I had been blessed with two amazing dogs (both over 10 yrs old). I still bring my two dogs here. I would see my family in the area and the pups would have their appointment here. The older one always had a lot of issues with skin and he also had two growths removed in June. I will say I never had a problem with any of the vets there and they were all very good with him but dr Colby ended up becoming his main vet over time. She removed a tumor from his eye lid and on his side (the June surgery). She did an amazing job especially with the eyelid!!!!In the end it was dr Colby who helped me say “see you soon” because it’s never good bye on July 30th. He would have been 12 this November. It was by far the hardest decision I had to make but it was the right one for him. Dr colby’s Compassion, understanding and love of animals helped tremendously even more so in the last couple weeks before I brought him on his last day. She allowed me to have him outside on the grass which is where he was always the happiest. She allowed me to spend a few minutes with him and even gave me time for the other dog to say see him one last time...Places and people are not always perfect but I can tell you have have tried numerous places in/around the city and still couldn’t find a place I liked. It was always hurry through your appointment, charge the maximum amount and do tests that you do not necessarily need. Glens Falls animal hospital has always treated me like family and why I continue to make the 3.5 drive.... They may not always be perfect but they are family....
I came across a dog one night I was so scared for him I got the sheriffs to take him the GFAH I ask the officers about adopted the dog they told me to call them in the morning to see what I could do if no one came looking for him. But when I called to ask about the dog after I got out of work they gave me the run around and told me the they couldnt give info that I had to call around to all the shelters to see if the dog was there. Already willing to take the dog in and you play games like this. What a joke! No wonder why there is so many in shelters all because of people like this. Not my only bad experience with them. Find a vet that cares for your animals not your money!
Always nice people. And Dr.Connor treats your animals as they were his own. Our dog got very sick once and me and my wife didn’t know what to do we called the animal hospital at midnight. It was closed of course but someone answered and it was Dr. Connor. He told us to come in and he took care of barley for us around 1 am. There’s honestly no words we could say to thank him for taking care of our puppy. I will never go anywhere else. Thank you everyone that works there!!!!!
I can not thank the dedicated employees at Glens Falls Animal Hospital enough! They have gone above and boyond to help my cat promptly and affordably. We make a visit unexpectedly almost once a week because of my cats bowl issues and they always find a way to accommodate us. I am comforted knowing I have such an awesome team to support all of my kitty cats needs.
The actual doctor we dealt with here was kind, knowledgeable and all around great. The reason I cant give this more than 3 stars is because of the woman at the billing/checkout desk on the way out. I had an emergency with my cat and it was the second time Id been to the vet in 24 hours and when I went to leave I asked if they would send me a bill and allow me to pay later because I honestly didnt have much money, I just wanted my cat to be okay. She shakes her head and snaps back at me in the most condescending tone youre supposed to pay it now. I tried to explain Id been to the vet twice in a day and I didnt have much money but then, the person I was with happened to step up and pay for me. She then proceeds to ask me if Id spoken to the doctor about paying and I told her Id spoken to him on the phone about the issues with my pet and he had told me to stop in earlier rather than later (because like I said, it had been an emergency situation) but we hadnt discussed payment at all. She then sighs and ever so slightly rolls her eyes and runs my friends card without any sympathy for my pet or my situation. She offered me no other suggestions for billing and just took the money and sent us on our way. Id love to return here to see this doctor again, but if, god forbid, something serious happens to either of my pets that requires expensive treatment and I cant pay hundreds or thousands of dollars up front for it, Id rather avoid the unsympathetic treatment on the way out and visit an animal hospital that will work with my financial situation.
Had a wonderful experience at Glens Falls Animal Hospital, We and our mini-dachshund had visited an emergency clinic at 12 am 5 days prior at $160. which gave a wrong diagnosis as well as incorrect medication that just kept our dog completely stoned. She only got worse. After seeing Dr. OConner at Glens Falls Animal Hospital for 10 minutes, he prescribed the correct medication and our dog responded almost immediately. After two days of treatment, shes 80% better. Thank you for your experience, and the kind, considerate manner in which you treated us.
They are the best loving, caring in time is the worst loseing our baby was the worst .He was the best an friendly dog a person ask for.our heart is broken. An they knew this an they went way above what they need to do.We will use them again . If you need a good vet they are the ones to go too.
Best Veterinarian around, is ALWAYS able to get you in quickly and bills charged is always fair. Unlike Quaker Veterinarian Services who killed my dog by misdiagnosis of Lymes disease by saying it was Cancer and talking us into step by step cutting our dog up and sucking around 6 Grand out of us. Lesson learned! NEVER stray from GF Animal Hospital again!!!
These guys are always awesome I love him to death dr. Bob dr. Kevin dr. Laura the new doctor that I dont really know yetall the nurses are awesome they absolutely love the animals and it shows they go out of their way to be great everything is awesome here and I highly recommend them
This is literally the worst experience I have ever had at a vet. I took my kitten here, waited an HOUR in a waiting room full of massive dogs, feral cats, all coming after my poor kitten. After an hour of making her sit in this waiting room terrified to the point she was crying and shaking like a leaf, I walked out. Maybe they shouldnt schedule 20 animals to be seen at the exact same time. I will never come back here.
My dog was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer 2 weeks ago from our vet in Boston. We knew it was only a matter of time before we would need to make a tough decision for him. Well... The day after Thanksgiving he didnt feel like getting out of bed, and was wobbly once we finally got him up. My girlfriend and I agreed that it was time to do what we had been fearing for 2 weeks.I appreciate Glens Falls Animal Hospital for getting us in, even though they were totally slammed, but thats where the appreciation stops. I was handled brusquely at the front desk as I explained that I had my dog in the car outside, and would like to bring him in. When we finally brought him in, we were situated in one of the exam rooms for a bit before the doctor came in. He entered the room and began preparing the syringe, without introducing himself, expressing condolences, etc. Needless to say, his bedside manner left quite a bit to be desired. His name was Kevin OConnor. The dog was immediately nervous, and stood up from the table upon the Vet coming close to him, as we tried to calm him and get things back to normal, he jammed the needle in his arm, and the dog slumped in our arms....Gone. Needless to say, not how I pictured it playing out.
Several years ago I brought my cat here to be spayed and declawed. Two days afterwards when I recieved my cat back her incision looked like some child learning how to sow a quilt had stiched her up. It was a knotty ball of flesh that stuck out looking much like a new borns umbilical cord. While I had nothing to compare this to at first, a year later I got another cat. This time I went to North Country Cat Hospital. When I got that cat back, her incision was smooth and flush with her belly. The vast difference between these to places tells me that Glens Falls Animal Hospital clearly does quick shoddy work! My oldest cat still has a harded lump where they treated her. I would never recommend this place to anyone unless you plan to put the animal down.
I had a great doctor there has the doctors name was crystal Blair very good doctor she took care of my cat midnight she was very sick and I had to put her down but I had her for a week with the help of crystal would pain meds and meds for her heart Ive always gone for this Hospital for all my pets

2022-04-21Ive taken my dogs here for years. Kind and caring staff. Knowledgeable vets. And they are compassionate. On my last visit I had to let one of my dogs cross the bridge. The staff and vets were so respectful of my grief. My dogs will continue to go here.

2022-05-14We take both of her long haired dachshunds there. This visit was for one of the dogs would yipe and cry when he was picked up. The wait time was short (maybe 15 minutes). Dr. John gave him two prescriptions after the exam and blood work. Not too expensive either.

2019-04-17Just left today 4/17/19 from a walk-in visit early am, with my Cat Chin, 3rd x visit. Ecstatic I got Bob! Usually on EMR visits, who ever becomes available takes care to the visit. As always... (old post about Bob follows...)... Bob OConner is the best, seriously. Very empathetic. He took exceptional gentle care of all my 6 cats, including my 13 yr. Old Mini Moo (female), who passed July 3rd/2018. Celebrated her burial July 4th!!! It was amazing and extremely heartbreaking.

2021-09-27For over 20 years I have been using the Glens Falls Animal Hospital and their staff is great. They always seem to be there when I need them most. Love Dr Laura ❤ she is always so kind to my puppy dogs 🐶🐕❤. Always very affordable, a fraction of what I paid elsewhere this year because they were shut down with covid. Just wanted to let you all know I recommend them over any place else in the area. Thank you for helping me today Lakota 💕loves you
