Good watering hole with some genuinely interesting British beers (Camden Hells, as well as the usual Boddingtons etc), along with various European and local US beers. It’s not quite a ‘themed’ bar but it’s gone for a British feel, although most bars in the UK don’t have a 4 foot picture of the queen hanging at the back. It’s not a huge space, but the bar is long and there’s outdoor seating when the weather is good. There are plenty of other drinking options on the block, but this is a solid choice.
Great neighborhood experience. Went for burgers and steak sandwiches with my grandson and service dog and we were treated royally. In fact, we sat under a nice pic of a young and quite beautiful Queen Elizabeth, who my 18 yo grandson thought was Marilyn Monroe. Great food drinks and service. Great recovery from fire.
This place is bloody awesome in my British accent. It is so authentic I felt I was in London. The food and service is great. I ordered the Seabass during the brunch special which is from 10 to 3. It was exceptional. Ive never had Seabass before and they made me a believer. You will thoroughly enjoy this place. Also for the guys they have the biggest flat screen tv which is always playing sports. Its the literally the best of both worlds. Enjoy everyone. I sure did 😊
The fish taco was fabulous. One of the best calamaris! Super flavorful and not greasy. They also have a great selection of appetizers and finger food. The ambience is very lively. The noise level can be a little bit high which is not surprising for a bar. They make a very decent French 75 and I highly recommend it.The staff are on top of their game and this is a nice place to grab a drink after work and team building.
I usually really like this place but recently I decided to venture back there, their website and google stated they were open. We arrived and three other random groups arrived at the same time, the door was wide open we all sat ourselves and waited but there was no bartender or anyone in the bar. We left and went to another bar, stopped back in and same thing, noone in there. I saw someone in the kitchen and asked if they were open, the gentleman said no they were closed. I let the gentleman know the door is open. They definetly need to update their website and google.
Really like this bar. The decor is funky and gives of this vibe of being in a fancy old English library. Or something like that. The staff are so great and have always been so helpful with anything needed. They go out of there way to make sure you are happy. As an English person, missing a good Sunday roast. GMT so far is my go to fix. While I have others on the list so far from the few I have tried this is the outright winner. So if your passing by on a Sunday i would make sure you go in and eat your fill
Tried this place after I walked by it for 2 months. Just stopped for a few drinks outside on a hot summer day. Unfortunately after we ordered our first drink, our server never came back to check on us. When we asked another server for our check after giving up, it took 10 mins for anyone to get back to us. Too bad. Great location and nice beer list but talking to a server once in an hour is unacceptable.
Terrible service. Totally inattentive. Had to find a host after waiting minutes, and told to seat ourselves. Then ignored by waitress for minutes - had to go get our own menus from the host stand. Then, prices were $$ more than advertised on their website online. When waitress finally showed, told us no food orders for 15 minutes because kitchen was too backed up. Left, hungry, without ordering and went home to eat leftovers.
Great weather, we were able to sit outdoors. Nice location so good for people watching :) menu varied, American cuisine. Salmon entree cooked to perfection. Calamari a titch soft but tasty nonetheless. Our companion enjoyed her glass of red wine and burger done just right at medium well. Prices as expected given its NYC. $105 for the three of us... enjoyed two desserts for that price as well; dinnertime around 5ish
One thing I liked about this place is that the music is not too loud. I had been to this place to meet a friend after a long. We enjoyed the food and had good conversations. The choice of beers is not too vast, but the staff was great and suggested with real good options.
Definitely a great place to go when the weather is nice. You can sit outside, or find a table next to a window which they open up and allow that lovely breeze to come in.The drinks were decent, had the GMT punch (basically their version of a pimms cup). Good selection of beers and my friends got wine and seemed pretty happy.Only caveat is the price, its a bit on the pricey side. $13 for a pimms cup esp in that area is a bit steep. Beers 7-9 bucks? a bit above average in my opinion.I got the calamari and it was okay, the sauces were nice but again, a bit pricey for the amount of food you get.A couple of friends got the goat cheese bites. There were only 3 bites for 10 bucks so its a bit much. And one of them had a bite w/o the cheese, but told the waitress and she sorted it out. Got them 2 extra bites out of it. So the staff is receptive and friendly.
Came here to watch a football game and wow was the place on fire! With the storm and everything, lots of people inside, all cheering and yelling. The atmosphere was great for a football game night!I had a huge Radeberger which was great and hubby has a stout! Lots of beers to choose from, theres something for everyone. Its a great place to have a beer or two while watching sports!
A very classy and somber vibe can be found here. A kind staff with fairly priced drinks on a great corner street venue lends to easy in and out service while the group waits for the next Uber to whisk you away to the next bar. Would reccomend to anyone looking for fancier interior design than your average bar.
5 stars for premises, 5 stars for food and drink ( great pint of Guiness :) )5 stars for our host John. My wife and I were there last week and this is a great place to go for food and drink and people watch down on Bleecker Street and John, from Dublin, was a great host. Definitely recommend the GMT Taverm !
We had Christmas Dinner here and the food was really disappointing. We asked for medium beef and the meat came out bleeding so much it was completely inedible, I enjoy pink meat but this was beyond that and really poorly cooked. When I sent it back it returned covered in greese and the vegetables were cold. Do better GMT.
Manager was rude not only to us but to the bus boy. Reprimanded him in front of us. I know its covid and we must wear masks. But we were out on the street waiting to be seated . The bust boy instructed us to wait a minute ao ge could clean the table for us. The manager barked at us saying we must put our mask on before we seated. We had no problem with that but we were still standing on the sidewalk. Waiting for the bus boy. The manager yelled at the bus boy in our presence. Telling him not to clean tab lmk e unless the Customer wear mask. He told h ur better be the last ti m.j e he does that. Rude rude rude. The food was undercooked but we didnt bother to complain since the manager was tyrannical . Paid and left.
If there was 0 stars I would give. Ordered a Moscow mule from bartender 3 times. He didnt have a clue of the drink ingredients what I was served tasted like feet 3 times. When I finally got to speak to a manager he expected me to pay for all drinks as he finally made one right. Terrible customer service. Awful management and 0 respect for customers. AVOID at all costs awful experience. Will NEVER return.
A great place to visit when in New York, and a natural stop if you go to Bleecker St, (which you should). The atmosphere is genuine welcoming, friendly and British thanks to the bartender, Nathaniel. Not to mention the water tap in the WC, that you have to push backwards instead of twisting; and of course, the vast selection of drafts they have. I will definitely go back next time, to rest the asphalt out of my legs once again.
The food was not good at all. Particularly, the goat cheese fritters. I could not tell the difference between it and the Stilton that was on the burger. Even worse, though, was the service. Our waitress was nowhere to be found. When our check came, I put my card in the receipt holder and set it on the table. After a few minutes, our waitress walked out from the kitchen with a coat on to go outside. It took a few more minutes to find another waitress to run our card. As we were walking out, the first waitress came in. Tl;dr: bad food, worse service.
If I had the option to give 0 stars, I certainly would. I am in this place right now and I can see the waitresses looking at their phones and ignoring the customers. I even raised my hand to attract their attention and phew, they just dont see the 5 feet 10 inch guy with his hands raised though the place is sparse with people. I am getting out of here after paying for my drink and highly recommend people to go elsewhere
THEY HAVE RATS!! I was in here today to get a burger and a rat crawled right past my foot and straight back toward the kitchen. I told the waitstaff and they acted surprised, but their health inspection results reveal this has been a problem for months! Avoid at all costs!!!

2022-07-04I sat at the bar with my husband and friends. The bar was great! Sean was an awesome bartender. We got a few different plates, the Flatbread with prosciutto was the best. We will definitely go again.

2022-05-08If I could give it zero stars I would. They refused to allow mashed potatoes instead of fingerling potatoes with my meal. She said the chef is strict and wouldnt allow the change. Even though mashed potatoes were offered tonight, Mothers Day! They brought us the wrong tables food. And none of our food came out at the same time. Four people got their food and they other two had to wait until everyone was almost done. They said the salmon takes longer to cook than the well done burger. Came all the way from California and was really looking forward to this restaurant. Very disappointing. Never written a bad review of a restaurant before.

2022-07-02Cool spot! They have mezcal marinating in watermelon and jalapeno for their frozen margarita drink. We took the mezcal as a shot and it was so delicious. The interior is so beautiful. Amazing upstairs looking library and old school tin panels in the ceiling.Great outdoor space as well.

2021-04-04The outside setting at GMT was very well organized and situated in a way that will bring comfort to any individual that dines here. Maybe it was the little candle on every table that seem to glisten and cast a glow, making it a great back drop for a romantic movie.I ordered a Stella, which came in a nice tall sexy glass. It made me want to take a sip and savor the flavor and drink my beer slowly. It wasn’t a Wine but it could have been. The glass makes it a great imposter.I ordered a medium rare Hawaiian burger and fries. It came with a sliced pine apple on top. It was picture perfect. I honestly had to take pictures before sinking my teeth into that juicy burger. The side of fries was just an added touch of a reminder that GMT might be fancy but can give service like the classy Tavern it is. They also follow the Social Distancing Guidelines set by the CDC. Giving 6 feet of social distancing space for everyone to enjoy themselves. The waitstaff was great, attentive and serviced my every need. They did not skip a beat. I will definitely becoming back with friends to wine and dine here. If you happened to be in the Village. You must stop here before you go anywhere else. You will leave with a smile on your face.
