Such a great experience! Maggie did my tattoo and she was the absolute sweetest. Great environment, professional yet very laid back. I highly recommend this place, and will defintely be coming back!
Super chill and friendly environment, has the flare of a traditional and well established tattoo shop but with none of the aggressive mentality. All the artist portfolios are well worth the trip and definitely worth the price, I highly recommend Maggie and Leaf.
Lina was extremely polite and professional, helped me work out the size, placement, and details of my tattoo and made me feel confident in my choices. She did amazing work and Ill definitely be returning.
I met Maggie and Mel, both were so welcoming and professional, Maggie was the artist for my friend’s tattoo which came out amazingly and she took time to make sure he placement was what my friend wanted, very patient and sweet and her art is amazing, wish I had time to get my tattoo there
I went to Gnostic and worked with Maggie Brophy recently. I didnt come in with an image or anything, just described what I wanted and asked her to draw it. Not only was her first try pretty much perfect, but the tattoo itself seems flawless. Minimal swelling, no bleeding. It looked great from day 1, none of my friends could believe that it was new. Id recommend Maggie highly.
Amazing place for tattoos. Reasonable prices. Great, affable artists with good bedside manner. Mel does stellar work and made me feel at ease even though I havent gotten inked in years.
Maggie and Leaf are amazing people, very talented and skilled. The shop has beautiful art on the walls and the best fish tank Ive ever seen Im my life.
Leaf has some incredible talent that does not go unrecognized. He did work on a friend of mine who inspired me to go to him. I even recommended some of my colleagues at work to go to him. If youre looking for extremely professional work. This is your shop.
They are simply the best. The space is super cool and all the artists are top notch. Their clientele includes everyone from your fav celebs to your average walk-in client. Fair pricing as well. Highly recommend.
Over the last year Ive gotten two pieces done here and i loved the shop. However, i booked an appointment about a month in advance with a $100 deposit but lost my reciept and i didnt remember the exact date i had my appointment. It took me two days to get in contact with the artist and once i he answered he informed me that i missed my appointment and that i would have to put down another $100 and that the first $100 were basically gone. My issue is that at no time did i recieve an email or a phone call reminding me about my appointment, the shop made absolutely no effort to contact me at all. I honestly feel like i was scammed out of my money. Every other shop Ive made appointments at have contacted me at least once before my appointment, if not more. They lost a very loyal customer today! 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
Good vibes tattoo parlor. Very friendly. Incense air, Drake soundtrack, nice things to look at including funkyart, lovelyplants + shimmerfish. Cash only, $100 minimum–drawback if yr not used to ny/bk prices, but a good tattoo is worth money than money anyhow. Couple of talented female tattoo artists, which is always great. Main dude name Leaf, another v good thing. Very open people/ok place to be high 😊

2022-05-23Incredibly solid shop. Got a tattoo from Leaf and John helped me with a cover up. Both artists super nice, helpful, knowledgeable, and great at what they do. Can’t say enough good things about this shop!

2022-05-08Got my first tattoo done here by John Starr and he exceeded my expectations. Took all of my ideas into consideration, and added a bit of his own touch/ideas as well. Very pleased, tattoo looks great

2019-10-06I requested maggie to do my tattoo. She was great ! she didnt take long to set up unlike the last place i went to (they took an 1 hr and a half just to to set up and we got there super early), and she was super nice and bc the tattoo was done so quick she gave me a discount ! the shop was nice, clean and pretty big. I will Def be coming back and i’ll make sure to tell my friends about this place and maggie !

2019-08-03Came in with a first timer, who was very nervous about getting a tattoo. The staff put her completely at ease and did an amazing job! Chris was our artist and quickly drew the designs we both wanted. Informative and very friendly.

2018-08-26I loved this place, I was lucky enough to notice it whenever I went out with my mother in the area, and being I was looking to get a realistic lion done on my upper right thigh, I had to look them up on Instagram and through the quality of their work and their personalities, I liked what I saw and I booked an appointment. Got tatted by Leaf, brilliant guy, amazingly skillful. I was impressed by his quality and use of the needle. Definitely a professional who knows what he’s doing. Everyone else working there was so nice and open. I loved talking to another artist while getting tatted at the same time. Kindly allowed breaks whenever I asked (only needed two pee-breaks within a little over than 3 hours of tattooing cuz I’m odd like that) Very safe and open space, I love the decorations and the music, very homely in my opinion. They provided me with great information for tattoo aftercare. My tattoo healed perfectly (still healing deeper layers) but after two weeks, the surface layers were beautifully healed. Will be coming back here for more in the future. Prices are reasonable and for the quality of their work, I don’t argue. Do come here for amazing work!

2019-12-28I was on holiday in Brooklyn and was referred to Adriana by someone else who was tatted by her. I sought her out and sure enough, she was exactly who I needed to align with to help me manifest the vision I had in mind. I had a friend create a rough draft of what I wanted; Adriana made some changes, and I am super happy with how it turned out. The atmosphere was really chill, I fell asleep at some point. Healing of the tattoo is going amazing.. thank you Adriana, youre a beautiful spirit

2019-03-0110/10 would recommend Maggie to anyone. She is so cool and kind. I brought in a print from an artist I was working with and she recreated it perfectly. Her original work is beautiful as well. I will definitely be seeing her at Gnostic again. Gnostic is clean and has a really laid back vibe.

2018-11-04My go to spot so I figured I should throw in a review. I’ve been tattooed 6 times at Gnostic. 5 with John and once with Lina. John has amazing line work and recently we threw some color on the latest tattoo and I love it. Lina is amazing and did a badass job shading. Everyone there is super chill and welcoming - I’m always comfortable when I’m there and I’m sure you will be too. I’ll be going to Gnostic for as long as I’m in NYC.
