Shane always goes above & beyond to answer any questions I may have or help me with scheduling when I have to switch things around. Hes extremely patient, kind, informative & helpful. I also love our swim teacher Kiley. She teaches my daughter well & always squeezes in some fun & laughs. I travel here from the Bronx & have had a wonderful experience so far with all the staff. love Goldfish swim school & would highly recommend this place to everyone.
PLEASE READ! ! MY SON ALMOST DROWNED! I AM WRITING THIS SO YOUR FAMILY WILL NOT EXPERIENCE THE PAIN MY FAMILY DID!!!!The staff is all teenagers that are not paying attention. My wife had to run across one side of the pool to the other screaming that my son was drowning before anyone took notice. She was about to jump into the water when a lifeguard finally jumped in. Class is suppose to be in groups of four, and my son was put into a group of five. They stated the reason was because they were “ short staffed.” Absolute neglect! If you care about the well being of your child do not bring them to Goldfish! There are better options that are closer that cost less money.
You have an amazingly compassionate and supportive team that includes staff at the front desk, the instructors, the lifeguards and all other staff. My 3 year old son has been experiencing a difficult time emotionally, during which he has been having a lot of anxiety. The staff have been wonderful about helping him to feel comfortable and safe and able to trust them. He now looks forward to going to swim lessons and wants to go in the water. I am so grateful for all they have done for him!
The facility is great; very clean and they are taking the pandemic precautions seriously. My daughter advanced a lot after having a substitute teacher for 2 weeks (Ryan). He made her do things she wasn’t able to do before. (Choose that teacher, if you can. He’s great!), but the others are good as well. The only negative side is that the classes are too short...only 30 minutes once a week. I think it should be at least 45 minutes to 1 hour, since it’s only 1 time a week or 30 minutes twice a week.
I love Goldfish. Its right in the center of Yorktown Heights next to Acme. My son is progressing and I find their methods to be much safer than the school swim class. The new Covid precautions are very sensible and not too inconvenient. Kids still get to see each other which is great.
Hello Mr & Mrs Graves. My son, David, has been taking swimming lessons since January. He started out with casual lessons, then we switched him to monthly. His experience at Goldfish has been great. The confidence that he has in the water is extremely impressive. Your facilities are always well maintained and for the most part all of your staff has been friendly and courteous. I understand that there is a high turnover with your employees. A majority of them are younger and leave for school and what not. Also, a lot of them changed their work schedules and having a consistent instructor was difficult. As you approach your one year anniversary I am writing you to bring something to your attention. There is one particular employee that you have who has gone above and beyond. He has personally kept us from leaving Goldfish twice this year. His name is Azon. He is extremely kind to every person who walks into goldfish. He remembers all of his students names. He is amazing as an instructor and my son can not wait till he gets to go back into one of his classes. While Azon was recovering from his knee injury he also did an amazing job at the front desk, as well as when he was working the pool deck. Your other employees respond to him. The atmosphere in the pool is different when he is working. The instructors take their lessons more seriously and the horseplay amongst them stops. I know that Azon has received employee of the month before, I remember seeing his picture up before he became my sons instructor. But as you approach first full year, if you are looking to do something for employees that stand out. Please consider Azon.Thank youJames Wilson
Unimpressed is an understatement. Every interaction at the front desk has been completely unhelpful starting from registration. Twice, I inquired about scheduling makeups (in person) and both times I was referred to the parent portal online. So, instead of being able to schedule with the person I was just standing in front of, I had to go home and call to schedule with the same exact person (I know because she saidoh, you were just here).Despite being told that the instructor(s) will come into the waiting area to announce the class, this has never happened. The instructor has yet to leave the pool between classes (including her replacement last week). So, if youre waiting for an announcement, I guess youll miss the class. The instructor has never once introduced herself, so I dont even know her name. This instructor teaches each class the same way, so as the parent you are just expected to know what to do, even if it is your first lesson. The space allotted to mini-twos is greater than just one lane but that also means that I can hardly hear the instructor at all because there are classes going on in every lane simultaneously. This instructor also just moves on to the next exercise regardless of whether or not you have finished the last exercise.I have a pool, my child does not need to just be comfortable in the water, I need her to learn how to swim. This place is completely hands off, all form is completely dependent on the parent who has no free hands because they are holding their child. My child is not learning anything different from week to week. Each mini-two lesson is a song, practice kicking, practice pulling water towards you, ear to ear, and practice dunking. We have replicated the entire lesson at home since week 2. I canceled (make sure you give 30 days notice) today, after arriving and being told class was canceled because of thunder-not stated in my signed agreement!Lastly, it is ridiculous to walk out of the heated pool area with a soaking wet toddler into the icebox that is called a waiting area. My makeups are scheduled and I cant wait to be rid of this place.Update: Thank you for reaching out. I appreciate the efforts made by both manager and owner. I am satisfied with my refund.
What a fantastic experience for our 5 month old as an introduction to the water. While we didnt do all the dunking that some of the older kids participated in, creating that foundation of comfort with a large body of water was very important to me, and we will certainly be back as our son ages! Thank you Goldfish.
We have been going here for about two plus years at this point. The kids enjoy it and have learned so much. Upon reopening, they tried their hardest to facilitate my kids the best they could with our covid concerns. Their teacher Gaby has been with them faithfully since the reopening and is absolutely phenomenal. Management is easy to deal with and facilitative. I’ll always recommend this place to anyone that inquires.
The facility and instructors were nice, but the front desk staff and management struggled. We were told we could pay for and try the first month, but were charged for a second month after the first two weeks. We had our daughter switch classes for the second month and we were then charged for the new class plus the previous class, and another extra charge. We ended having almost $400 in charges for 3 classes. After hours on the phone, I was able to have one of the charges refunded. I understand it’s a new business, but the ownership is either incompetent or dishonest.
Clean, well-managed, great training of instructors who are calm and patient. Love the waiting area with toys for littles, WiFi for grownups, clean bathrooms, cubbies, hair dryers. Showers and water extractors for swimsuits, a place to buy goggles, etc. Popular snack bar, free swag, etc. Easy check-in, enrollment, makeups. A great start for young or anxious swimmers

2022-03-26Very happy with our experience at Goldfish! We’ve been trying swimming lessons the past year at various places and the water has been too cold that my 7 yr old son couldn’t/wouldn’t concentrate on learning. He was so afraid to put his head under the water. At the first lesson at Goldfish my son dove with assistance under the water and hasn’t looked back since. One month in, we went on vacation and he was swimming short distances and putting his head under the water. He is SO proud of himself and I’m one proud momma. Great environment, teachers, and love the easiness of the app! Worth the cost.

2022-03-24We LOVE Goldfish! The facility is friendly and welcoming and the instructors my son has had so far, Alicia and Ian, have been incredible. My son is very nervous to swim and they immediately put him at ease. I also love that there are clear steps to each level and that there is time at the end of each class to talk to the instructor about my child’s progress.

2022-01-09I can see why this place is so popular! I started the Mini 1 swim classes with my 8 month old, and we both had an absolute blast! Sara spent time over the phone with me, explaining all the details and answering my questions beforehand, and Ari very patiently helped fix my account and sign me up after I had botched it myself online. Our class instructors, Michael and I think Zirayli (I apologize if I misremembered the other instructor) were fantastic, very engaging and had tons of great class plans. 30 minutes was the perfect length of time for the class, and we used every second of it! There are tons of very clean changing rooms to use, and a convenient shower area to rinse off after lessons. I look forward to future classes with my little one.

2021-12-08I LOVE Goldfish swim school!!! My 6 year old started going here a couple of months ago and she is learning so much and more importantly loving swimming. The teachers are all incredible, staff is super friendly and helpful, the facilities are clean and new. One thing I love is that they evaluate the students frequently, and will do so upon request - they just sent me an email with a detailed report on their last evaluation. I just can’t imagine a better swim experience for my girl. Thank you!

2021-12-09The place is nice and they have nice showers and.changing rooms. I took my 3,5 yo for swimming classes and they are not what I expected at all. The kids spend less then 5 min in the water in a 30 min class. A good amount of time is spent talking to them while they sit on the side of the pool all wet and shivering. Then they pour water with a cup on them, then 10 seconds in the water and back out to talking. Maybe it’s more appropriate for older kids but mine was cold and getting sick after each class.

2021-07-13I went with my daughter this past Saturday to watch my Grandson in his swimming lesson. I was a water safety instructor and life guard in my young adulthood. I also was the director of a swimming summer program for some years. The class was crowded and the place was very distracting. We were told they were short staffed. (That should NOT be the problem of a parent) I quickly noticed two life guards standing on deck just talking to each other. A big guy with a life preserver hanging around his neck and a girl. I mentioned to my daughter that they SHOULD NOT BE TALKING and instead be separate and watching the pool.My grandson, who is three years old was placed down below the group and sitting. The water was above his chest level. I have pictures and videos. It was an accident waiting to happen. As the instructor was working with one child my grandson slipped into the water. Since I had my eyes on him the entire time and so did my daughter, I immediately jumped up and started banging on the glass window yelling “Hes drowning!” No one saw this!! He was thrashing around underwater trying to get up to the top. As I was screaming and banging I saw a few instructors look up at me. They were facing me and he was drowning behind them. I do not know how this could happen EXCEPT A SEVERE NEGLECT! Of the life guards guarding from the deck. The entire place is poorly supervised. I’m very surprised that no one has drowned yet!! My daughter ran into the pool area. Three guards pulled him up and out and scratched him all up. They should cut their nails. They bandaged his back and his front of his chest and shoulder. We went to Urgent Care! This was NOT the fault of the guards. It is the fault of whomever was suppose to be in charge. Having had experience in this area and also being a teacher, I strongly advise that unless this place takes this review seriously some child will end up drowning here!Sincerely, Mrs. JohnsonP.S. As a result of the banging my thumb and underhand is black and blue.

2020-08-01Our experience at Yorktown Heights Goldfish Swim School has been wonderful since before our first class! Mr. James was incredibly helpful via email in placing our children in the proper classes. Communication regarding COVID-19 safety measures and what to expect the first class where reassuring and clear. We felt comfortable and safe coming to the facility which is pristine. All the staff are incredibly personable and enthusiastic! Most importantly, the kids are having a blast, learning skills and gaining confidence in the water with instructors Kaia, Azon and Gaby! We all look forward to swim class every week. Highly satisfied and highly recommend!
