Meats were on point! Disappointed with some of the sides between my husband and I: beans had a prominent vinegar taste I couldn’t get past and Mac and cheese recipe seems different - very creamy but sorely lacking in cheese flavor. Wish the cornbread was under the paper in the to go box - bottom was soggy.
Ive been here a few times and by now I curse the fact I live so close because its far too tempting. Ive lived in Rochester for a few years now and had a few other barbecues - Dinosaur, Sticky Lips, Texas BBQ etc. This is by far the one Im most satisfied with in the Rochester area. Customer service is especially good - after an order mix-up, they were humble and all too happy to fix me up with the right food. Ive definitely experienced the opposite before, so I was pleasantly surprised. The variety of food is good too.Pros:- Best barbecue Ive had in Rochester- Good amount of food for price- Great service- Food is ready fastCons:- Would be nice if a drink were part of their combos but thats a very minor con- Although I live close which is very convenient for me, I feel that for others their ER location is a little out of the wayI recommend giving it a try.
I was very pleased with lunch here. Friendly counter service and room to sit. The price was good for the pulled pork sandwich and the Tennessee tacos. The sweet potato fries were really good. With all the trophies, they are certainly serious about their BBQ. I will be back.Update: I did just go back and split a full rack of ribs. Not so impressed with this choice. More time in the smoker would have been nice but the super sweet glaze was disappointing. Next time I will try to get them naked and use a little of one of the 6 sauces on the table.Update 2: I have been back several times and I would describe the food as very sweet. If you like BBQ sweet this is your place. In general I prefer more smoke and spice so I need to order accordingly.
Pretty good. The ribs appear to be cooked at a little bit too high of a heat and became tough and charred. Definitely werent fall off the bone. I liked the glaze though that was put on the ribs a nice touch. Would typically give just the ribs a three star but considering covid I bumped it up a star. Also, the beans were really good and the cornbread was outstanding.
This BBQ healed me and hurt me at the same time. This joint is a don’t judge a book by its cover type of joint. The humble building was disappointing me when I walked in to dine here for the first time. Then the most glorious plate ever was given to me. I ate so much that it was hard for me to drive home. I just could not stop. It was really good and I understood why it seemed like everyone who had come in while I was eating was a regular.-the portions were very filling (they were big contrary to the photos)-gluten free bread substitutes were good-great service-dine in/take out
We had a reservation for 8 people. We walked in and there were a couple other groups waiting. One of them also had a reservation. An employee came over and said hed help for takeout. Nobody was there for takeout. Then he walked away. Meanwhile this place was absolutely empty! So almost everyone walked out. This was the worst dining experience that I have ever encountered. Will never go back.
The food and recipes were amazing. But the service was lacking experience and the skill set wasnt there. Burger was great but not pink like asked. They messed up an order (forgot to minus ingredients) which was fixed right away. The Mac and cheese would have been pretty good if the noodles werent over cooked. The pulled chicken had bones in it still. All delicious and large portions but still left us wanting more.It sounds like Im being generous with a 3star rating but honestly I feel with a little time and management it definitely will be a upper class stylish restaurant and pub with a 4.5 star.
I actually enjoyed the sides better than the meats. The pulled pork was decent but I did not particularly care for the ribs as the sauce was a bit sweeter than I prefer. Price is in line with other BBQ joints. My first impression when our food was delivered was that it seemed to be a small portion, however, I did not quite finish all my food - which is very rare for me. So the portion size was appropriate. Not the best BBQ Ive had but definitely not the worst.
I actually worked here I loved the kitchen people; however if youre ordering to gos the servers are usually taking orders and packing it all and the bartenders take all the tips and do barely nothing but talk about how they didnt break a sweat making 190 before going into a dinner shift.. yup he said that! Food is great and I meant to give 3/4 stars from the getgo, thanks 😊
Fantastic BBQ. Yesterday we had two of the 2 meat combos with ribs, brisket, mac-n-cheese, and tots (the combo also comes with cornbread). Also ordered the pulled pork egg rolls to try. We ordered for takeout and it was still hot when we got home (not to mention that the pickup time was quick too). Everything was incredible, I dont think I could pick a favorite item (but maybe it was the pulled pork egg rolls...) and we couldnt finish, so we get to enjoy it again today.
Reached out to get their catering menu for occasional lunches the office provides... they ALWAYS go to this place in Brockport, I just want to show them there are other (and better!) places for a catered BBQ lunch... Will adjust stars depending on response from the catering team...
Cocktail was decent, waited 15 minutes to get it though and the restaurant was dead. We had to repeat our orders 3 times each. We waited over an hour for our food. We weren’t given an estimate on when our food would come out and had a weak apology. While the chef was eating a rib at the bar we decided we were tired of waiting. The drinks were paid for.
The best BBQ in Rochester. Its a small place, seats about 20 people. They do lots of take-out. Staff are always friendly. Prices are reasonable. (`The Dinosaur`, the other great BBQ place does a huge volume compared to Good Smoke. It`s always a good choice if youre trying to decide but only one is the best.)
Major points for this restaurant toward creating an interesting and innovative BBQ experience. Their menu features things like BBQ bowls with salad or potatoes (not in the same bowl!) and sandwiches like their brisket Philly cheesesteak. But alas, the BBQ just wasnt that good, so the experience wasnt a good one for my crowd. The rack of ribs was nicely flavored but overcooked--they tasted like they had been cooked much earlier and quickly re-heated, drying out the meat and hardening the sugary sauce that coated it. The pulled pork sandwich may have been quality meat, but the sandwich was served drowning in sauce, to the point that it was sitting in a puddle of sauce. The brisket Philly cheesesteak had cubed brisket, which doesnt match well with that cut of meat (plus, cubes fall out of a sandwich). The restaurant was doing a brisk business the Friday night that we went, and most other reviews are good--so maybe we just ordered the wrong things. But we feel like we went 0 for 3 on our meals.
I went for chicken and ribs tonight and I was told they both weren’t available to be ordered around 5:30pm. I naively assumed that the unavailability was because the chicken and ribs were sold out for the night. After adjusting my order to pulled pork and brisket, I ate both and realized both had no barbeque “smoke” taste at all and, rather, tasted as if both were cooked in a crock pot. Not to mention, everything was cold. I ordered tacos too and they had maybe a tablespoon of pulled pork in each taco. It was a waste of $60. When a BBQ restaurant literally has “Smoke” in its name, a reasonable expectation is smoked taste, not crock pot nonsense taste. That’s too bad, I’ll never be back. Advice - stick with Dinosaur BBQ downtown!
Several friends had recommended this spot. Our first time there at this location. Knocked my socks off! Best dont smoke meat Ive had in years! Go for the food, not the atmosphere. Does Bailey room to sit down with all of the awards they have rightfully one well be back! 👍👴🏻🤗
My wife and I took our kids there on our way back from a family excursions. We were in the mood for some bbq and we have had sticky lips in Henrietta before. I’ll say this place was smaller than I thought it was going to be, not that that’s a reflection on the food. The kids food had a good amount of fries and the chicken tenders were a good size. The grilled cheese looked good and the cheese was really gooey looking except my kid didn’t feel like eating much and didn’t touch it. One of them really liked the cornbread though. My wife got the open face turkey sandwich and it looked quite hefty. She said the turkey had a good Smokey flavor even through the gravy that was on it. She had the Cajun tater tots. She said the sauce was ok but liked the cornbread.I had the two meat plate with 1/4 rack ribs and brisket. The ribs were tender and the sauce was good. My only complaints were 1) it was the small end of the ribs and the 4 smallest ribs on the rack. I feel it would have been better to have the fifth to make it more substantial. But a positive note were that the ribs were pretty tender. 2) since it was the end, there was a little shrapnel from the cut of ribs but I can’t hold that against the restaurant and 3) the brisket was decent but you only received 1 slice of it and it wasn’t that big of a slice. Sauces were good but a tad sweet to me. It covered the Smokey flavor up for me.Overall, I’d give it 4 stars. Food was good but not great, portion of meat was a little small for the price and the service was good. I’d say it’s worth a try and right now, every restaurant deserves to stay open in this time.
Do not confuse the trophies in the windows earnedfor excellent food from the BBQ competition circuit with what’s actually served on a daily basis to customers. Competition BBQ and restaurant BBQ are two totally different beasts. Tried twice and twice the ribs and brisket were very dry. I understand that it’s not possible to have fresh ribs from the smoker to the plate in a restaurant setting and that smoked food is reheated, but these ribs and brisket were beyond dry. They were either reheated on too high of temperature or were overdone to begin with. I also understand that it’s not fair to rate a place based on two limited interactions. I’d be willing to try again at a time of week/day when the ribs are just fresh out from the smoker if I knew when that is.
In the past I have given this place 5 stars. I was able to come here with my Celiac boyfriend and we were able to be safe. However. The last two times we have ordered gluten free ribs (which are gluten free and wonderful) and asked for the cornbread (not gluten free) to be substituted for a different item (WHILE ORDERING IT GLUTEN FREE) we got the substitute, good. BUT THE CORNBREAD WAS ALSO IN THE BOX....TOUCHING THE RIBS. now. if you know anything about gluten you know that that means contamination and that can be disastrous for someone with Celiac. I love this food. I can eat here. But I am not sure if we can risk it anymore.
Idk what happened to this place. I tried to support local business but this is what makes it hard, I ordered food on Friday and food wasnt great. I called to see what happened to the quality of the food and they told due to the pandemic things changed a bit. They offered me a free meal because of the inconvenience. I called today to pick up that meal and to get curbside pick up(leg issue). The girl over the phone took my order and said they dont do curbside but would do it this one time because of my issues. She told me it would be ready at 5:30. I called to have them bring it out and I waited on the phone line for 5:20 to 5:45 by the time they picked up and brought it out it was cold. I just tossed it away. If they were busy I couldve wait another day or until the leg issue recovered. Extremely disappointed
Dont go to this place unless you are hungry! The food was absolutely amazing!!! The pig candy is a must....the sauce on that was on point. And the smoked meats were just sooo good! We had brisket, turkey, pulled chicken and ribs. We have so much food we cam home with but we are ok with that.Highly recommend this place! They wont disappoint!
I dont often feel inclined to write a review, a bad review at that. 3 stars bc my husband said his brisket was decent. I got the Tennessee tacos.. the pork tasted like it was done in a crockpot, no smoke flavor. However what burned us was not so much the meat but the sides. My daughters mac n cheese, if you could call it that was a cup of nearly mushy noodles swimming ( like soup) in a milky slurry with trace amounts of cheese. My husbands mac salad was literally macaroni with mayonnaise. No seasoning, no carrots, no celery, just macaroni and mayo. Sad this was our most recent experience, because weve had decent food from them in the past.
Best BBQ in Rochester hands down! I get what I call myself the Carnivore Plate... its the 3 meat combo with 2 sides of bacon. So good. Brisket is amazing, turkey is amazing, ribs are amazing, pulled pork is to die for. I eat the whole thing. Wish there was a loyalty card or program or something - either way, its the only takeout I really ever look forward to.
It was weak. Our order was wrong. We were starving so we ate. Ordered ribs and sweet potatoe fries, got some type of meat combo with paper thin over cooked chicken breast and beef brisket that was dry. Pulled pork was ok. Thought $3.50 for the side was small for the price. Probably wont go back.
Let me just say the best BBQ gems are indeed holes in the wall. We were driving through East Rochester for a work meeting and saw this place just calling us. I said to myself, This should be good... It certainly was.I was especially excited when, after walking through the front door, saw awards aplenty from the KCBS, NEBS (New England BBQ society), et al.We ordered much of the menu, as we were a group of 10. A few of our group had burgers and they absolutely loved them; quite scrumptious. As for the kids menu, excellent! Normally, at higher-end, better-than-the-norm BBQ joints/restaurants, the kids are forgotten. Well, these guys/gals get it. They had a great kids menu that didnt condescend. My kids like great food that tastes great; they have well-developed palates. They were able to order ribs off the kids menu (a first that Ive seen). That huge to me as a father to multiple children who want to eat something tasty.Personally, I ordered the ribs. Usually I dont because they are expensive and we are a bigger family. But I went all in, and Im glad! I had the ribs, the brisket chili, some homemade creation called Moink Balls. The Moink Balls came as the appetizer... think smoked-pork meatballs, wrapped in bacon and doused in their signature sauce - yum! The ribs were some the best Ive eaten in my life - meaty, not over-cooked and covered both bbq sauce and their own Rib glaze (loved it).Rib glaze (which we took home), along with their BBQ sauce, is a thinner consistency than the sauce and was quite the surprise - delish! The brisket chili was solid and was quite appreciated. It had nice, hearty chunks of brisket. The surprise standout(s) is that the sides were not overlooked or forgotten but as much as a part of the thrust of the menu, from the Mac n Cheese to the Sweet Potato fries. The latter were the best Ive had in my life; hand-cut, crispy on the outside but moist & velvety on the inside. I could have made the Sweet Potato fries my whole meal. Now, for the get-better stuff, sort of... It took a while to get our food but the end result let me know it was cooked to order, so I wouldnt have changed the timing. The brisket chili could have come with the appetizers and not the main meal; that was my goal anyway. Other than that, on-point as Fieri would say. And in fact, if they havent been, they should be featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. A-1, men, A-1! We will be back.
Typically our go to BBQ spot, but tonight was a huge disappointment. Not only was my order wrong, but we had ice cold food by the time we got home (8 min drive),over cooked brisket and ribs,WAY more bone than meat on the ribs. The Mac salad I received instead of of the Mac and cheese I ordered was flavorless,as was the smoked potato salad. The corn bread was the best part of the meal. All in all a big let down.
Me and my friend had chicken wings, ribs, bbq shoulder, pulled pork. The chicken wings were good, crispy and great sauce although dont taste smoked. Her blue cheese was homemade and excellent. The BBQ shoulder was not so good - tough and not smoked tasting. The ribs and the pulled pork made up for this and were great - tender, smokey. The smoked potato salad was heavy made with dill and didnt taste smoked at all. The mashed potatoes and gravy were very good. The beans were fair and the cornbread muffins nothing special. Service might be a little bit better.
Worst service ever. No bbq chicken. Fine. So I place my order and then they tell me it will be 35 min because they have to make more burgers after already waiting over 5 minutes outside. So I asked for a refund and no apology nothing. The service is absolutely garbage. Will never come back. They lost my business. Next time maybe you should know what you have in stock before taking an order.
Excellent BBQ! Beef shoulder and pulled pork are amazing. I prefer Good Smokes pulled pork to others in the area. Daily specials are also good when feeling like something different. The dining area is small so seating can be a problem during lunch hour but Ive always found a seat by the time my order was ready.Staff is friendly and also clear tables when the line is gone.
Last brisket sandwich I had was HORRIBLE! Horrible cuts of beef - chewy, more fat than meat. Quite a disappointment. Ive been here numerous times in the past, Always getting brisket. Always getting a good sandwich. Has the quality been affected by opening numerous locations? I dont know. The cook should have noticed the beef was sub par and not served it. Im not likely to go back.
Clean and friendly environment, small but comfortable eating area. I went with a friend to get ribs, based on the reviews wed seen. I was first a bit shocked at the price for a full rack, $29 seemed rather steep, but for good ribs, Im willing. We sat down and the food was out to us in 5 minutes or less (first red flag went up) I unwrapped the plastic knife and fork and said They must be pretty confident in their pork skills to serve ribs with plastic utensils. Over confident, as it turns out. Unfortunately not only were they the most expensive ribs Ive ever ordered, they were also the driest. Cutting a single bone off with provided plastic knife was all but impossible, and chewing the meat once removed wasnt much easier. The flavor was good, the sauces great, but both my rack and my friends half rack were both very dry, like a skinless chicken breast left in a low oven for 6 hours. Not once were we asked how our food was, something I had never encountered in a small food business. (Upon reflection, there was a spilled drink emergency that may have contributed to this lapse in inquiry about the food, every other interaction with staff there was, as said before, friendly.)The Sweet Potato fries I got as a side were delicious, well cooked, crispy (not always easy with sweet potatoes) and seasoned generously. No complaints there, and the corn bread was soft, moist and slightly sweet; again, not hard to see why people comment favorably on them. Im willing to believe they had an off batch of ribs that evening, and I may well go back some time to try something else, but its going to be a harder decision that second time, sadly.[Edit:] Upon reply from owners, I will most certainly be back again. Customer service goes a long way in these days of big companies being able to afford to not care about quality or customers at all. This is why I seek out the small joints, they still care. Thank You, fine people at Good Smoke BBQ, for still caring. +1 star this time, Im confident of the full 5 next time through!
They catered my friends wedding reception recently. The ribs were great for mass produced ribs...I enjoy smoking ribs myself from time to time and know how much time and effort goes into ONE rack, let alone 20. I did not care for the pulled pork, but my wife and many other people thought it was great, so it appears to just be a matter of personal opinion and not poor quality food. The sides were great, the corn bread in particular, and the staff were friendly. I did not try to chicken but was told it was good. I left the wedding with 4 left over racks of ribs and heated them up on a grill the next day, still good.
I was changing my diet and eating really well. Nothing is wrong with this food but it is so good, its addicting. I go there at least 2 times a week. The crispy ribs and the smoked potatoe salad are the best. Great food, great prices, friendly staff. Absolutely love it.
Great food. But check your takeout order before you leave. You might have my Mac and cheese. That’s what happened tonight. They were super busy and it took awhile to get our food. That’s no problem, but I noticed my mac and cheese missing about halfway through eating. They screwed up a little worse a couple years ago. It wasn’t busy at all. They gave our order to another couple. There weren’t any other customers. We figured out it wasn’t our food when we got home. When I called, they were apologetic and nice about it. That was about the end of their concern though. I wasn’t planning on going back again. But the food’s damn good. We broke down after a few months and started going back. No issues until tonight. It’s just a little cup of Mac and cheese. But I was looking forward to eating it. So I was kinda pissed when I noticed it missing.I’ll be back. The food’s great and the staff is friendly. I won’t leave without accounting for everything I order though.
Just finished having lunch at Good Smoke BBQ, and this has to be the best I have had in Rochester! The Brisketzilla sandwich was OUT OF THIS WORLD! everything in the menu sounds delicious as well! I cannot wait to take friends and family! Friendly staff and cooks there make you feel very welcome also! Thank you Good Smoke!!
Nah...What award did you guys win? Dryest brisket?Maybe try some sauce too... Idk...3 stars (should have been one) because the cornbread was wicked good. Id buy that by the pound and the girl was nice when our food took too long.In there about an hour ago since I see you like to ask what time of service was.
The best ribs in Rochester. Forget Dinosaur. Good smoke BBQ is the only choice for ribs in Rochester. They also have one of the best rib glazes I have ever tried. Only better rib place I have tried was down south in Nashville. Western New Yorkers maker the trip here you will not be disappointed.
They overcooked the brisket burger it was a hockey puck. My sons order was a soggy mess. Won’t be going back. Ordered the piggyback medium the burger was crispy, carmelized on one side. Fried pickles had fried onions in it and missing the mustard sauce. The philly brisket my son ordered was super soggy and the brisket was weirdly chunks and not sliced. Twent to the ER location yesterday at 1130. This isn’t the first time either.
Ordered a starter, Pig Candy, never got it and had to remind the person who brought out our meal about the fact we ordered it. Got the brisket sandwich and the meat was overdone, not tender at all. Bummed! My girls bought dessert and we waited 25 min to get it and their award winning dessert didn’t even have the bacon!!Was really hoping to be impressed and looking forward to food that won awards. I don’t think Webster Good Smoke is keeping up with the standard of East Rochester.
The best BBQ I have had in years. A very small restraunt with a ton of BBQ trophies in the front window. I can believe they earned every one. I had their double bacon cheeseburger and it was one of the best I have ever had. The brisket I stole from my moms plate was excellent and she had no complaints either. If I had to reccomend a BBQ joint in rochester this is the one I would send people to.
Had my first experience with good smoke today. Everything I had was incredible. I love their vinegary sauce. Very tangy and has a great bite to it. I can definitely say I prefer this place to sticky lips or dinosaur, and I love the casual nature of the restaurant. Will definitely be coming back here!
The food was amazing! Inside the restaurant is fairly small, more of a cafe/diner feel, the staff was super polite, the food came to us fairly quickly, and it was by far the best BBQ that I have had in Rochester. Prices were fair for what you receive. Cant wait to go again.
Very good bbg. Only issue I have is consistency . sometimes the ribs are nice and juicy and sometimes they are Horribly dry. To the point I really have to ask for something else to replace my meal. Nothing else ive eaten there was like that. Update: I figured Id give it a few more tries and more times than not the ribs are dry as a bone. If dinosaur and sticky lips can do it why cant these guys?. Had to take off one star
Bought 4 full racks, 10 of the peoples choice wings, a half chicken and beef brisket. Sides where smoked potato salad, mac and cheese, and sweet potato fries. This was purchased for a birthday party. Everything was delicious. The ribs have just the right amount of seasoning and glaze. Oh and the cornbread is awesome. Keep up the good work!
The food is delicious and different enough to distinguish itself from other bbq joints. It effectively personifies what youd expect a hole in the wall restaurant to be - the staff was friendly and the food was spectacular. Theres not much in the way of inside seating, but I wouldnt have it any other way.
I have eaten there twice now. Excellent place to get ribs. Served in a basket or on a metal tray like it should. They focus on their dry rub and the ribs come out with that perfect ring and delicious bark across the top. They serve several different sauces on the table, but you wont need them. You will lick the bottom of the basket. Even their take out is top notch. Ill be going back again, and again, and again.
My fist experience with Good Smoke was a take-out order and consisted of a beef shoulder sandwich, it was good but the sides were lack-luster. My second trip was not good, and the reason for me writing this review. I basically paid $18 for tater tots and corn bread as the main portion of my meal was way over-cooked and so bad I left it ALL on my plate. This was after I received the 3 meat meal instead of the 2 meat as I had ordered. If they are going to charge the same price as Dinosaur BBQ then they should at least come close to the quality of food and service. It makes me wonder if they also have a trophy making shop out back. NEVER GOING BACK.
Great experience with this business. Clean, comfortable seating and amazing service. My server, I believe her name was Amber, gave honest but good recommendations. Everything was hot and prepared in a timely manner. Unfortunately there was an miscommunication with someone elses order so I even got an additional sandwich! Very personable and professional. Food was delicious. Ill be back soon!
I’ve had good meals here before but last night (6/27) was pretty disappointing. I got the “Briskett and Cheddar” special as a take out order. The bun was very stale - parts of it were almost too hard/stale to eat. There were maybe 5 small brisket cubes on the sandwich so not very much meat at all. If there actually was cheddar on it, it was too little to even taste any cheese. The fries were pretty listless; no crisp to them, very bland and soft...probably could have been in the frier twice as long. Cornbread was the only saving grace! There were a lot of people there so I feel like the food was maybe being rushed? Who knows. The stale bun was a big put off though. If I go again, I’ll dine in instead of take out.[Edit: 6/29] - The owner responded to me very quickly and kindly. I appreciate good customer service and offering to resolve the issue. Added a star back in! Thank you - I will give Good Smoke another try in the future.
Went on Saturday night for dinner for first time. I was doing a pickup order. Figured it would be good as the line was out the door, and I was not disappointed. Pulled pork eggrolls were incredible. I had the two meat meal. Ribs and brisket were great, baked beans and cornbread were fantastic, the mashed potatoes were ok, I wish I had gotten the cheesy tots, which I tried off of my wifes plate. She raved about the hot link and the crispy ribs, and also enjoyed the mac and cheese. Overall, we were incredibly happy with our dinner and will definitely be back. My only critique was that the food was not piping hot, which was a function of me waiting a bit bc of the crowds. It would be cool if you could somehow separate those picking up take out and those placing orders on an ultra busy night.
Best barbeque, brisket is moist and tender, pulled pork is everything you want it to be, chicken is slathered with flavor right through to the bone. Baked beans are just the way I like them, a little sweet and savory. Corn bread is perfect, not too sweet. They serve wine and beer and have a small seating area inside and out. Worth visiting for eat-in or take out.
Once food leaves the building whether order is wrong or not management said they can’t help me. So make sure your order correct before you leave the building! 12 dollars worth the went to garbage. Never go there again. I guess business is good , willing to loose costumers for 12 dollars.Response to you, it is is absolutely what your cashier told me after going back and asking management ! If you guys want to make it right your manager could have came out front and talk to me directly , instead he decided stay in the back room . And by the way my total order was 35.00change and i only has problem with 1 order . Being a business owner my self i would the first one to talk to the costumer not let my cashier . So12 dollars is not going to make me or brake me . And i dont have time forto make it right . I am not going to come out there and waist my time .
Havent been anywhere else since we found Good Smoke. We love the pulled pork, smoked portobello, brisket burger, beef shoulder and Tennessee tacos (to name a few of our favorites). In regards to the other reviews that mention disappointing experiences, I agree that not every dish is amazing, but thats true of every restaurant Ive ever eaten at. At Good Smoke, if I find something that isnt up to my expectations, I dont get upset because there are so many other awesome items on the menu!
Got the ribs and they were awesome ! Very tender and fall off the bone . I have been to dinosaur and sticky lips and Good Smoke is by far the best ribs in Rochester . Nice selection of different bbq sauces to choose from . I would recommend giving this business a try you wont be disappointed .
Delicious! The pulled-pork pizzette (a single-serve pizza) I had was extremely tasty, with a good balance of heat, sweet, and tang. The mac & cheese I had as a side was so good that it deserves to be the main feature of a dish, and the cornbread is just plain yummy. The interior is not fancy, but clean and pleasant. Ill be back.
Disappointing food; worse service. The pulled pork sandwich wasnt very good. And well taste a subjective the fact that the sandwich was cold is not. The Cajun tater tots were also cool and lacked any flavor. The entire meal snack of something reheated in the microwave but not quite enough. When the server asked how our meal was I said pretty mediocre. His reply? Good enough. There are better barbecue choices in Rochester, I see no reason to return to Good Smoke.
Great find! Wasnt sure when we first saw it but, the best ones are little holes in the wall. They were friendly and the food was awesome! We dropped some $$ but we got a ton of food therefore got several meals out it. Would definitely go back. Definitely worth checking out!
My co-workers and I went here for lunch and I must say I was totally turned off by the quality of my partially undercooked chicken wings still filled with blood and the rude customer service that was displayed by the young lady who took the orders of our meals. However, I will be fair and say that the only reason why I am rating them three stars is because the corn bread was delicious, even though it was very small in size and pretty pricey or else it would be a one star. Will not be returning.
I checked out Good Smoke for the first time this summer and the BBQ is awesome. Their servings are just the right size and there prices are great. Their location isnt anything to get excited about but who cares, your going for BBQ! I would and do recommend them to anyone looking for some great finger lickin BBQ!
As someone that smokes regularly I was greatly disappointed with the food. Worst BBQ place in the area. With so many other good BBQ places in the area I would avoid this one. My wife and I got take out from there one night and it was the first time Ive ever gotten a 1/4 rack of ribs and only ate 1 rib. No smoke flavor whatsoever. How could a place named Good Smoke have no flavor? I wont be revisiting this place.
Ordered some food online from this establishment. The place looks like it could fall over at any minute when we arrived. Go in to get our order and the staff didnt look at the tablet that gives them the online orders so none of it is ready. We wait an additional 30 minutes for the food to be prepared. The food was alright but which saved them a couple a stars. Get it together people!
Hello I went to your e.r.test today(tuesday) ordered the roc. City burger the hot sauce was burnt to the point it made the burger not taste good it also had a lot of black chunks in it it really looked burnt. Also I would tell your cook that it might be a good idea to wear gloves and cover your nose with your mask.my wifes meal was great and we thought you would like to be aware of these things
The food was good but I bought a half rack of ribs and it only had 6 ribs. Meanwhile my friends paid the same price for a 1/4 rack and half a chicken and they gave them 4 ribs. A rack of ribs is 14-16 ribs. You dont expect to spend $15 on a half rack of ribs and go home hungry.
Revised: Owner was kind to get back to me and we worked it all out, she apologized and was very nice on the phone and made adjustments to the bill. I will be back thanks!I had ordered from GoodSmoke many times but this past weekend is my last, I did an online order, my orders were not done right and 20 mins late substituted fried ribs for regular ribs and they were terrible. While I was there I saw the staff calling others who ordered online letting them know they were out of certain items. I never got a call so I never got a choice I got home and found the stuff I DIDNT order with my meal which I paid a bit for. I asked the front end manager why I did not get a call like others, response We just cannot call everyone Really? Not acceptable!! If i buy a car from a dealership and order a silver one but when I go pick it up I get a blue one, I would be very unhappy and I am sure you would too. Substituting without one knowing is not a way of doing business. The manager got snotty with me on the phone, and frankly why should I continue bringing my business here when I can go someplace else. I sent two emails to the Talk to us link on the website no response. She told me we dont comp anything, well I was not asking for a comp but thanks for jumping down my throat. I will probably be bringing my business elsewhere from now on.
East Rochester Barbecue joint, hole in the wall location. Aren’t all BBQ joints like that? Good Smoke is a cut above the competition... something that should be second nature to the former hosts of the Roc City Rib Fest. Kinda disappointed with my last trip there; very lax in enforcing COVID guidelines!
AWESOME!!Reasonable prices..place small but clean..ate on patio...pulled pork tender n ribs also..wings excellent blue cheese taste home made beans had bacon in them lightly sweet..corn bread good golden brown..not sweet like ur jiffy but good..hot links similiar to camillas sausage..crispy ribs definately crispy as they say with a sweet glaze sauce..mac n cheese good..portions plentiful.. friendly environment..was happy to take the drive there..well worth it!! So the hype is true!! Good food..ohhh take plenty of wet wipes!! Food saucey n good..6 variety of bar b q sauces..as well as a vinegar base sauce..
Two words: crispy ribs. Ok two more words: brisket burger. You will find some of the usual suspects you would expect fromna bbq joint. Bbq beef, pork, chicken, pulled pork, you name it. But its the special items like I mentioned first that make this place special. The crispy ribs are smoked to perfection, battered and then fried to put the over the top delicious. The brisket burgers are tender and juicy. Try the moink balls. Yes moink balls. I could go on. Just go in and try the place.
Food ranges from below average to poor.Tried:- Ribs (tough, small, and dry)- Pulled Pork- Chicken Wings- Pulled Pork Nachos- Corn Bread- Green BeansThey have a lot of trophies in their window; but, based on my experience, I wouldnt be surprised if they were all purchasesed or participation trophies.

2022-06-21Recently discovered this place. Everything we had was quite good- in terms of flavor they certainly played it safe. I was hoping for a bit more of that smoke flavor and a bit more spice- but that’s not to suggest their food wasn’t good. However, their smoked wings and ribs are more than enough to justify a visit. Their fried pickles with house-made ranch bbq dipping sauce, were on point! I also enjoyed the pulled pork and brisket. In terms of cocktails, strongly recommend their old fashioned- very nicely done.Service was friendly and attentive- our server also provided good recommendations. If you have room for dessert, their bacon gooey bar… it was good…. Extremely sweet and rich—though satisfying flavor profile. One bar was enough to satisfy our table of 5!

2022-03-29My husband and I visited Good Smoke BBQ for his brothers birthday. The food was delicious! I ordered the brisket patty melt and my husband ordered the garbage plate. We also ordered the buffalo mac and cheese and the loaded potato tots for our appetizer. As Im writing this review now, I wish I had some of the food in front of me! Thats how good it was. 👌 and the waitress was friendly as well. My husband loved the bourbon selection! We will be back!

2022-05-28This place was a lot of fun. We were lucky that we had the entire lower room to ourselves. The kids could play darts and the adults could relax, talk, and eat. There was something on the menu for everyone. I tried the chili. It has a bit of a kick!
