Came in recently for lunch after being assured on their website that the staff was following Covid protocols and was masked when interacting with customers. Our waitress was unmasked, as were other staff members in the dining room. Additionally, the staff was not enforcing the mask mandate for customers. People looked at us like we were crazy for masking.Apart from them not following protocols, the menu is reduced and no longer includes breakfast. The lunch items seem over priced and were average at best.Very disappointing visit.
I CAME HERE WITH MY LATE HUSBAND...NOW I HAVE BEEN HERE THREE MORE TIMES..EACH TIME THE DINNERS WERE EXCELLENT..THE DECADENT CHOCOLATE CAKE..WAS SINNFULLY DELICIOUS..THICK CHOCOLATE FROSTING..CHOCOLATE CHOPS..CHOCOLATE CAKE MIX..WAS THE TOPS FOR THE EVENING..I RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYONE..
We used to go alot to Gordies. But we stopped for awhile as we didnt care for the food anymore and because of Covid too. But weve been back a few times and it was really nice the meals we had delicious! I also brought this plant! I guess its for good luck! I have to look it up and see how to take care of it ! 😊
Took ten just for some one to come over and take our drink order. Then another 10 for them to bring the drinks over. Ordered the Chicken Breast with side salads and baked potato. The chicken had no seasoning what so ever. The baked potato was burned so bad that the inside was brown. When I asked for Steak Sauce they brought over a tiny to go container of it. My salad had 1 cherry tomoatoe. The best part of the dinner was the waitress who was very pleasant.
We had a nice family dinner this afternoon at Gordies. Our waitress, Carla was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. She answered all our parties questions and offered menu suggestions. Everything we ordered came promptly and was very tasty. Carla checked on our party throughout our meal and offered refills of our drinks. Table was cleared between courses. We were all very pleased with the service and our meals from appetizers, salads, main courses to desserts.
Nice place to walk around and check out the stuff. Food was alright. Our toddlers chocolate milk was spoiled and we had a fruit fly bothering us which gave me the conclusion they need to keep an eye on the cleanliness of their kitchen and food products. Overall Id give them a second chance and go again.
We ordered just sandwiches, but food was very good. I like the atmosphere. Sort of like an old fashioned diner. There is a bar too with access to outside tables. Desserts look homemade, too full to try. We enjoyed looking through the consignment shops. Some good deals, I went home with tie dye summer hoodie and liked it so much I went back a few days later and bought 3 more.
I chanced across Gordie Harpers once, years ago, and remembered it fondly, because we had a nice lunch and got to browse funky antiques afterwards. Now that Im living in Niagara County, I decided to look for the place again and was really excited to see, its still there!I entered via a big patio, covered by a pergola, with lots of wrought iron tables and chairs. In the center is a garage bay door, which opens up to a bar.The bartender was a woman, who, since I was one of two customers, was especially friendly and helpful. I sat at one of the tables and had a hard cider, a cup of French onion soup and a BLT, all of which were tasty. The service was good. The prices were fine.BUT!When I finished eating and decided to enter the restaurant proper, the very first thing I saw, just inside the door, was a booth full of Trump and second amendment/ pro-gun merchandise. So I turned around and left.I will NOT be coming back to Gordie Harper Bazaar, as I dont feel welcome in a place that promotes hate.Id rather spend my money with one of the many businesses sporting a beautiful PRIDE sign
When we are in the area Gordie Harpers is our favorite place to eat out. The breakfasts are done perfectly to order. For lunch we stop in for one of their sandwiches. Do try the Beef on Hummelweck ... it is a local Northwestern New York specialty. Everyone in these parts know what Beef on Weck is. The Weck (Kummelweck), is the German roll that the meat is piled into, and Gordie Harper does their beef so wonderfully well. For dinner we often get the fish, as it is fresh and they really know how to do it right. But anything I have ever had on the menu has not disappointed. After a meal you might want to browse the Bazaar. Lots of little shops on the other side of the restaurant building. Nice idea.
A one of a kind restaurant. The market behind the restaurant is equally impressive. The serve staff is both experienced and learning how. Karens should avoid this place if they are looking to hate something or someone. Oh yes this is TRUMP COUNTERY and they like to post it all over.
It was wonderful going to Gordie Harpers Bazaar! Our first time eating out since March! Just in time to celebrate our fortieth Anniversary ❣️ our waitress was extremely nice. Everyone was very nice, tables were spaced out. Salt and pepper were in packages. Everything was very nice, food was excellent!
One of my very favorite places! The food is always delicious and I love to walk through the shops. I only gave a 4 star this time because the service was not as good as usual. The waitress didnt bring us everything we ordered, also my drink was empty and she never asked if I wanted a refill. My husband let me have some of his.
Friendly and fast service. Prices are right around other restaurant prices in the area, nothing terrible however. All of the food is excellent, Ive had breakfast and lunch there before. A nice place to bring the family or a larger party for a good meal with great ambiance
Good food at a comparable price for quantity & quality. The additional draw for the public is their quaint shopping area in the back. Many decorations and treasures to view, touch and buy on the spot! Baked goods as well at the checkout. All in all a delightful place for lunch and browsing their goods afterward to work off the meal/dessert. 😊
This restaurant has such a homey feel to it. We had a party of ten and our food came out within the expected time. I had the Sunday special pot roast. The meat, potatoes, and gravy were delicious. The steamed carrots were yummy too. Im not a fan of the steamed called and the onion that came with it. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. This restaurant also has a store attached to it. Theres so many different things that you can get like: candy, candles, clothing, lamps, knick knacks, and decorations for your home. The price of both the food and what they sell in their show are very affordable.
I visited this establishment this past weekend and was greeted by a very personable hostess with curly black hair. She sat us quickly, and there we were greeted by our exceptional waitress Jen, who was also very personable and eager to please. Our food arrived quickly and was excellent, I had the #5 and my home fries were done to perfection, and my husband had the mushroom omelette. To die for! The homemade bread that came with our meal is something that could not be replicated. Absolute perfection. Great food, great atmosphere, and even better service. Will definitely be back on our next vacation.
My parents told me about this place when I was younger and they lived out here in Lockport. I wish the Dining room was a little brighter. The food is good. Their fresh baked goods are worth the trip, also seeing their variety store and candy shop is worth the trip as well.
I just love it down here. The food is always good, most always good service too. The bakery is amazing! But the chance to browse and shop just makes the visit, even if you limit yourself to the front room worn the hard- to- find candies, groceries, and their spices. What a nice place to go of you want to spend a morning or afternoon wandering around- Food, antique/ craft/ garage sale and bakery all in one spot.
Waitress was fine , but they werent busy either , we only got just two sandwiches and coffee, they almost $11.45. each , over priced...the bill came to $30. and no side order stuff. was shocking. told are friends and relative. all they could says was, wow. I think they think in NYC. Not Newfane. we wont going there again anymore.
Wonderful restaurant and consignment gift shop. Breakfast was made to order and served timely. 3 cheese omelette (special today) was VERY cheesy for a cheese lover! Gift shop was huge, bought a sampler of assorted chocolates that were divine!! Will have to go back as time was limited.
I have been here several times. It use to be great food, not anymore! One time I ordered the ribs and was sick for 3 days. They didn’t care! I have ordered the Greek salad and instead of chicken I ask for beef, the first time it was no problem, the last time they charged me for a steak separate. Usually one uses beef tips for this. They asked me when I complained if I wanted beef stew on it. This place does not know how to cook. I know many friends and family that have had bad food from there in the last 6 months. How can you run a restaurant like this??? NEVER AGAIN!
I had my future daughter In laws bridal shower on Aug 3 in there back room. I want to thank Bonnie head waitress forHer great help assisting me in planning this event. Thank you to Melanie and Desi for the great work serving 25 people very professional. The food and service was very good. Thank you again for working with me to make this event special!
Absolutely love this place. GREAT homemade food large portions and reasonable prices. Fresh baked pies and bread. Great shopping area attached with old and new items. Fun to browse and find that unique gift. A little out of the way but worth the trip. Lots of parking.
Just LOVE Gordie Harpers!!! So far, the wait staff and cashiers and managers have been so nice!!! The chefs/cooks are also friendly as I had asked to speak to one once, to tell them they did a great job!! The food is ALWAYS good and hot and fresh!!! Love the store behind that you can shop in!!! You wont be disappointed!!! AT ALL!! GO!!! NOW!!!
I havent been in a few yrs. They remodeled, looks better. Fish dinner with as good. I didnt like the new home fries. They were pre-cut and bagged. Not the home cut they use to have. They were soggy. The banana cream pie was not as good. The French Onion Soup was delish as always.
Been here a bunch of times. Gordies is consistently good food. The dude and I always get the same thing; blooming onion, ruben sandwich, and a steak sandwich. Best pumpernickel bread Ive ever had! If you havent been, go check it out. Great date Location too cause when your done eating you can wander the bazaar!
HIDDEN GEM OF NIAGARA COUNTY !! Great place to stop, has many small vendor rooms or booths my 2 favorites are the spices and jams booth and the new rock and Crystals booth!! There is plenty to look at and a great place to blow an hour or more, just looking at all of the pieces in there, its quite an experience good for kids and adults, all ages, and a GREAT place for Christmas items especially stocking stuffers at they have a huge candy booth that has so many hard to find candies both new age and old school ones you dont typically see. There is something for everyone in there and Im surprised more people dont know about this hidden gem !!If you get a chance stop in,you will not regret it, well until you get to the register and realize how much you spent but didnt realize as you were filling your cart because the prices are so good, this happens to me often there, I live close so i stop every 2-3 weeks !! Oh and the spices booth I mentioned, if you are looking for spices for cheap, especially ones that may be hard to find, go here they have EVERY THING , probably things you didnt even know you needed. I can not speak highly enough of this place !!
Been going here for years, Overall everything has always been good. Today I had a fish dinner it was very greasy and tasted bad, when they brought me the bill they didnt take it off, I said I wasnt paying for it. When they brought the bill back they charged me for the mac & cheese that came with it. I have never been to a restaurant that they didnt take the whole price of the dinner off the bill because you were dissatisfied. Because of that they lost a customer thats been going there for years. I have noticed lately that the quality of food hasnt been the same. Service has suffered as well. Slow, not bringing things. Some of the newer waitresses are unfriendly as well. Its a shame as it always was our staple restaurant to go to as its right around the corner from where we live. Wont be going there again
This is one of the coolest places I have ever been. We were in the area to take my daughter to the Carousel park for her first ride, and we stopped here for lunch. the waitress was so polite and friendly I wanted to ask her to sit down and join us. I had the hot roast beef sandwich and it was comfort food at its best. My daughter loved the animal shaped chicken nuggets. The coolest part about this place is The Maze of consignment stores attached to it. I found the most adorable bumblebee picture there for my daughters bathroom. It is a far drive from where we live, but I am looking forward to the next time we get to go there.
My girlfriend and I will never eat there again. It started out we were seated very quickly with no waiting line. The crowd was average not extremely busy. After being seated the waitress said she would be right with us. We sat there for close to 30 min without a menu to look at. The service was terrible. We were getting ready to leave when the waitress finally came back. With no apology she told us she had 7 other tables she was waiting on and it was busy. My friends BLT came out with thicker bread, an additional charge that she did not order. When this was pointed out to the waitresses she told her she would still have to charge her extra because she didnt hear her say she didnt want it. The waitress never came back to the table to see if we needed/wanted anything else and we had to flag her down for the check.
Just recently visited Gordie Harper’s and was not disappointed. First we were greeted by very personable hosts that sat us to our table faster than we thought despite the line. Our waitress was great! She was very attentive and friendly. Everyone was very hard working including the busser, the hosts, and the cashiers. And we can’t wait to stop by again when we are in town!
Great food, great pies. Plus you can either walk off that meal you just eat or work up an appetite walking around looking at all the crafts & different things for sale. Its like a flea market for all kinds of goods. Guaranteed youve never seen anything like it. Check it out..
Ive given Gordie Harpers a 5 because they deserve it. The food is always good in the prices arent bad. The waitresses are always friendly and helpful. The food is great. I guess I already said that. I enjoy going there not only is it a joy to eat there but you can also shop there if you want in back they have all kinds of rooms with nick-nacks and gift type stuff. In the front they have a bakery with stuff that was made that day, while theyre baked goods arent inexpensive theyre worth the price. Go see Gordie Harpers youll be glad you did.
Father’s Day 2019 experience almost made me walk out and never come back. Two young blonde girl hostesses were very unprofessional in their duties. I walk in and no one in line to be seated. Hostesses were laughing and carrying on and took a couple of minutes to even acknowledge I was standing right in front of them. They had no clue what your dining room vacancies were. In the mean time 12 other people walk in and while my group of 3 are sitting right in front of them, they seat 2 other groups of people before me and if I wouldn’t have said something they probably would have seated all 12 before us 3. That said, your food was excellent and the waitress fantastic. I never write reviews but this experience needed to be said. You have a great place, you just need to adjust your first point of contact. I would of given you 5 stars.
Called in just to ask a question about their desserts and simply asked what desserts that there were today and the woman who answered the phone told me that I would have to come in and see for myself that she has paying customers with cash in their hand to help. I dont know what owner would want their business conducted this way....literally I get if your busy or there is a lot of desserts to mention but there is a polite way to say it and u could say we have a lot to choose from cookies pies etc and we are open till 9 or whenever and u can come In and pick some out...gave a 1 star only to post a review
Awesome restaurant, food is marvelous, but not just an eatery! It is also a venue for local talent to sell their beautifully made creations!! Dozens of cubies full of awesome arts and crafts a delight of shopping! Also a bakery breads, pies, cookies etc. Wonderful place to visit again and Again🌈🌈☀☀
Went there for brunch with the family. We had 5 adults and a toddler, and no trouble getting a table outside on the patio. Theres a fountain out there that our kid was interested in, and plenty to look at and explore. The patio was comfortable, especially with the fans going. The food was great, everybody enjoyed it. Inside there is a bazaar, lots of little shops selling all different things.
I try to dine here at least once a month. The host is very friendly and attentive, though it can get busy, at times. Why? Its that good! This time I went. there to take my nephew and my mother, out for his birthday. He loves this place, and so do I. (Mom does too! ) My favorite thing to order is liver and onions with bacon, and its always too much to eat, with your choice of starch.I opt for the big baked potato with extra sour cream.Ive also ordered and open tenderloin sandwich with fries - this is a tasty fantastic combo deal(very reasonable), and I substitute french onion soup for the house soup ( homeade, and delicious too) every time...Some of the best french onion Ive had, and Ive had quite a few.Speaking of onions, they have giant onion rings! They are Really big- no kidding.Imho make sure that you order them a little crispy. Youll have a hard time finishing them yourself!I took a chance, and bought an apple pie to take home, and was not disappointed! That crust was just as good as mom can make, and thats saying something! There are many things to look at/ purchase in the area thats adjacent/within the restaurant. THATS the Bazzar at Gordies!Ive never had a bad meal here and am always pleased, as is my company. In all my experiences the wait staff has been prompt, attentive, and accommodating.Family friendly with lots to choose( on the menu, or in the baked goods as you enter) and so many unique items to look at/ purchase in the Bazzar.I look forward to getting here someday, when I can try breakfast... So many good things said about this place, and theyre all true. If you are curious about busy times? Contact the management, they are very helpful. Its nice to have a place nearby that is just like home!* Seasonal outside dining, weather permitting.Ample free on-site parking, wheelchair accessible / accessible restrooms
I love this place but had a problem with my Reuben sandwich. When they cut it in half all the meat was on one side and none on the other. I brought it to the waitresses attention and she said what do you want me to do, take 1/2 half. I said that she should take it to the kitchen and show them which she did and then came back with the bill with the price of the sandwich removed. It just made a good time out ruined as it was my date night out which doesnt happen very often.
A hidden gem of Niagara County! The bazaar has a wide variety of little odds and ends as well antiques and trinkets. The food in the restaurant was great! The service was friendly and if you wanted to purchase anything from the bazaar side and have a meal, you can pay for it all on the same bill!My only issue is there should be a sign saying where customer parking is as well as clearer signage about the entrance.
My first visit had me pleasantly surprised by the selection of bakery items all made fresh right there! The breads, which are available for purchase at the counter, are really delightful making this place a hidden gem. The other breakfast foods were pretty good and reasonably priced, but the coffee was just awful. The atmosphere was halfway between homey and very outdated, and could honestly use a little love. The general store attached is really neat, offering all kinds of sprinkles and candies, which I loved. The bazaar was very strange, with a whole bunch of overpriced antiques and a lot of junk.Overall: worth the trip for the general store and bakery items!
Very good home-cooking restaurant and bakery. Open-faced tenderloin steak sandwich & baked potato is cheap and delicious. Fresh-made soup and breads baked daily. A room near the entrance has Amish made goodies and every kind of old time candy you can think of. A huge area in the back has a variety of little kiosks that is fun to go through. Antiques to pet supplies to decorative items to books... A bit of everything. Well worth a visit.
This is a rather unique little place !! Want some sweet stuff ? You want really old time candies, 50s & 60s stuff thats not old ? You got it here !! Clothes of any variety exvept Gothic !! A great little restaurant too ! Being a teetotaler I cant say anything about the bar !! If you have 2 hrs to kill & want to see a huge assortment of stuff, this is the place !!
I personally enjoyed the homemade baked goods.Especially the Cheese bread. The Brownies are huge a must try .I WENT WITH MY BROTHER AND SPENT A FEW HOURS THERE.The abundance of old fasion Cany items.Platters chocolate.I spent plenty of time looking at the. Many items for sale by different people who owned there own little space .Anything from homemade items.Antique.s.Used.Collectables .Clothes and more. They also have a Resturaunt where you can relax and have a bite to eat.The food is ok all depends what you order .I dont remember. What we had..But Im definitely going back I had a great time...
We had omelets and they were delicious. If I had known how large they were I would have gotten the half order. The service however was not good, we sat down and waited at least ten minutes for someone to come to our table with menus. We were not asked if we would like anything to drink while we looked at the menu. I would understand if the restaurant was busy but it was not.
I am gluten intolerant, and the staff went to great pains to prepare my food separately. The service is great, even when they are busy...and they almost always are. Harpers just expanded the restaurant seating with a gorgeous, wood-lined add-on with skylights. Even if you dont eat at the restaurant, there are plenty of baked goods available fresh daily. The shoppes section is great for browsing, with everything from garden decor to antiques. No, I dont and never have worked for Gordie Harpers, but I love the place. Dont be surprised to see the parking lot packed when you come!
Food was awful, out of 7 people in our party only one meal was eatable. Ordered steaks and seafood platters. Waiter was great and very apologetic. Didnt finish any of the meals except for the one,Paid bill and left. This place has gone down hill the last few times we have been there. Food quality is so bad now. Sadly we wont be back.
Worst experience Ive ever had here. The waitress came to the table and asked if she could get our drink order. I was with my elderly grandmother and she had to use the restroom so I asked the waitress if she could take her order first she was rushing her when she got confused as to what came with eggs the waitress then got frustrated with her told her she had to leave without taking my drink order at all. Then another waitress came with my grandmothers tea and still no one took my drink order! Sat there for 15 more minutes and left.
Good food especially fish, done to your liking available everyday many home style /comfortfoods to choose from delectable deserts. Flea market /Bazaar has a wonderful candy selection that will take you back to being a kid also a large assortment of novelties fairly priced you will find things you were not even looking for large enough to spend a hour or two browsing.
They dont advertise that lunch starts at 11, my water was brought to the table with with a floaty the size of a quarter, and my food came back with hair in it which the server blamed on the cook. Mind you she lied about because the cook was going bald with blonde hair not black like the hair found. Highly dissatisfied
My family had reservations for 17 for breakfast/lunch. The layout for our group was awkward. It was set-up in an L shape which did not leave enough room for people to sit as well as hold conversations. I ordered the beef on weck and there wasn’t a lot of flavor (except the roll was over buttered) and they forgot the horseradish. My side salad was all wilted and browning, and why do you have to pay extra for blue cheese dressing? Everyone brags about the amazing food, maybe I ordered the wrong meal but it won’t be on my list of go to’s.
Disgusting! We had a server by the name of Mark. I got two orders for someone else. Our table had four incorrect orders out of nine. The server put each meal down at the end of the table and had the guests pass them around until they got to the correct diner. CRUDE to say the least. When I finally got my roast beef sandwich on french bread with gravy and fries ordered with no gravy my plate was covered with gravy end to end. The fries were a sloppy mess. To make matter worse the plate was ice cold. I cut into the sandwich and it wasnt french bread as listed. I also got a prize inside a chunk of lettuce. I cut it out since it wasnt supposed to be there. Im wondering didnt they wash the plate? I cut from the other side of the sandwich and when I went to chew it there was something crunchy sand like substance, The other meals were also cold and incorrect as ordered. Do you think you could even get a glass of water or coffee NO WAY. The server never came back or checked on the meal. I think this was one of the worse experiances of any restaurants we have ever had.
Been going to Gordie Harpers for years. Have NEVER had a problem. Service has always been great. Read reviews of other customers wonder what the back story is for the negative reviews. Referring to a persons stature is not cool in any way shape or form. Nor does it have anything to do with their quality of service. Hailey is a rockstar as far as hostesses go. Staff is cordial and accommodating. No problems here.
I have been getting take-out meals regularly at Gordie Harpers for a few years now. The food has been pretty good, but they consistently make errors in the orders. I tried talking to the manager, and things got better for a while. However, lately they are back to leaving things out of the orders or not giving us the correct meals that we ordered. At this point, it is time for me to stop ordering here. It is unfortunate, but I am just tired of getting aggravated because of their lack of attention to the take-out orders, and I need to take my business elsewhere.

2022-04-16Im sorry to report all the food our party of 3 had was terrible. We hadnt visited for 15 years, so we took a trip back. Nothing like the good old days! Everything was old tasting, greasy, flavorless, with canned gravy and vegetables. Service was friendly, but food quality was very poor. On top of it all, I ended up with food poisoning within 6 hours of eating. The place was also dirty with not much attention given to clean tables . The old dingy vinyl tablecloths were disgusting to say the least. If this is the way they choose to operate (with consideration to Covid), they should close. No one should be subjected to the food or the experience.

2022-05-02First time in this place, its huge, you can get lost in there. Didnt eat or go to the bar, just shopped around and found lots of interesting things in there both new and used. Cool signs, flags, spices, wind chimes, a little of most everything. Super cool place 👍

2022-06-30Unique gem located in Northern Niagara County that reminds you of a country general store with shops and merchandise with a built-in restaurant. A more folksy Cracker Barrel. Yes it is geared towards an older crowd but dont let that deter you, you will be captivated by its charm.

2022-02-27First visit and cant wait to return. The food was amazing and the rustic vibes feels like back home to us. The wings were jumbo and well sauced and we couldnt even finish the 1/2 lb burgers.

2022-05-13Normally great but wont return on a holiday again. Reservations only but they accepted MANY without reservations putting them behind with lack of staff at restaurants these days. Chicken and biscuits are served with gravy, not white sauce!

2022-03-29The waitress was very rude. I think she could have done better knowing that we made arrangements prior and she knew we were going to be a big party. They out us in the back room and only took half the tables order. Then came back took the other half of the tables order. She did the same with deserts. We could have done without the rude comments.

2019-11-23Another great place discovered! At our friends suggestion, we drove a little tonight to get here for dinner, and Harper Bazaar is actually a very interesting store with rooms upon rooms of antiques, potions, clothes, candy, spices, it was a little surreal... Then its a great restaurant serving a large menu of very good food. Dinner was great, my Liver and onions was excellent, serving size it large. The service here was fast and outstanding. You should check it out. I took a lot of pictures.

2022-05-09It use to be my favorite place to go. But, not any more. It was terrible. We went for Mother’s Day. Waited a long time for the food. When it came, it was cold. Had to send it back. The potatoes were heavy and starchy. The gravy was very very thick, not much stuffing, and about two slices of turkey. Service was terrible and so was the food. We will never return. The place went down hill. For the price that we paid, the food was not worth it. Too bad, it use to be nice.

2022-05-17Love all the cool products and antiques for sale. Cream of broccoli soup was amazing and those GINORMOUS onion rings!!!
