Gotham Archery in other cities:
Amazing Amazing Amazing. This place is covid friendly and people friendly. My kids had a amazing first intro class. And now they book lanes. This place is also good if u have a child with a iep. My son takes OT. But because they r remote this is the next best thing. A great place for them to practice patience and coordination.
Staff was incredibly rude and condescending. My party was late a few minutes and the short skinny guy immediately started giving everybody bad attitude and was a total jerk (Im refraining from cursing). Even after I apologized for being late he continued to be rude to the participants and the non-participants. Shooting arrows was fun but that one guys horrible attitude ruined the whole experience. It was even more embarrassing because I had a friend visiting from out of town joining the class and all we could remember from our time here was how poor the service was. Definitely not coming back to this location. Hopefully the establishment doesnt hire anymore people suffering from a Napolean complex.
Just wanna give a special shoutout to Etienne, the instructor who taught the Intro Class. Your endless barrage of humor & sarcasm made the session much less painless, except my handling of the bow. Received a good bruising but was well worth it. Next time Im returning only if youre teaching just so I can dress up as Spider-Man & have the privilege to shoot Uncle Bens (Ill even settle for a box of Rice-A-Roni)
Attended an intro archery class with my coworkers and had a wonderful time! The staff members here are super friendly and make safety a number 1 priority. They teach you proper stance, how to aim, and are super supportive and encouraging as you learn. You get lots of practice time and theres a fun competition at the end. I wont spoil too many details, but Ill just say popping balloons with arrows is very fun!
I took my boyfriend here as a surprise and it was greater than I could have imagined it. From walking in and witnessing all of the cool supplies to learning from our instructors and walking away with confidence and a deeper interest in the sport everything was perfect. Both of the instructors had amazingly funny banter and were truly hands-on with instructions to make sure that every shot was better than the last. At the end of the night we closed out with a few games. We left plotting our next visit and ways to include our friends and family because, in all honesty, this place is perfect for any variety of interest in archery. We cannot wait to come back and get better as we go! #bowbuddies
Great archery range. Intro class must be taken before you rent a lane for 16 an hour plus equipment rental adds another 15 an hour on top.I took intro class long ago for 35.So the price does add up if you decide to stay long.I advise you ask for help because the bows will need to have some sight adjustment if you are having trouble hitting the target. Ask them for a form check and you will be fine.Covid policy are enforced. There is a plastic drape that separates shooters between lanes. Lots of sanitizer all around. Clean bathroom and space to sit. It does get crowded, keep that in mind.Had a great experience, very friendly staff. There are cheaper places to tune your bow there. So that I wont recommend.
A hidden gym of NYC... literally. On the second floor of a building, would have had no idea it excited. Amazing spot for a date night or company party. We took the intro to archery class. The instructor was very patient and kind and walked us through the process step by step. It could be a little intimidating at first but you will eventually get the hang of it.
We loved the BK location of Gotham Archery after visiting several times, so we thought wed try the Manhattan location before a lunch in the city. The two locations share a name, but the similarities end there. For one, the location is incredibly tiny--just a fraction of the Brooklyn location. That wouldnt be so much of an issue had they structured their lanes properly and didnt horrendously overbook their facility. The lanes were completely overbooked to the point of archers having only 6-8 inches of space in between each other--so close you can smell the next persons BO, even through a mask... so close that the person next to you keeps unintentionally hitting you with their bow. This is especially noteworthy because the facility has Covid-19 safety notices posted throughout requiring all customers to maintain 6 feet of social distance, which also warns that those who do not comply will be ejected without refund... they then proceed to overbook their lanes and place you six INCHES--not feet--away from other customers. Apparently you get no refund if they defy their own rules either. When the impossibly cramped conditions were brought to the attention of the staff, they simply responded sorry guys, this is just how it is on the weekends.Unfortunately, the problems do not end at their hypocritical/hazardous overbooking. The attending employees were often too distracted socializing with other employees or on their phones to even notice when an arrow was dropped or some other kind of staff assistance was required. Other times, they would hold up the entire group of archers (during a paid, one hour time slot) to teach newcomers the basics on how to shoot. We all had to learn the fundamentals at some point, but that needs to happen in the requisite pre-training course, not during everyones paid, time-limited practice slot.If you value your safety, or even just the ability to practice in peace, do not go here. They have no regard for safety or customer experience.
My fiancé and I booked an introductory class on a whim, and were so glad we did! Our instructor (Clifton) was fantastic, and did a great job walking us through everything we needed to know to shoot safely. We had plenty of time to practice, and he gave us lots of personal coaching/advice throughout the hour. We definitely improved! We had so much fun – well be back for sure.
The guy who led the intro to archery class was incredible! He was so supportive! He would scream encouragement when people hit the target and he would come up to each person and help them perfect how they were shooting even more. I had never done archery before and was terrified after he went over all the precautions, but with his encouragement I was actually hitting the within the target rings by the end! His energy, humor, and the music selected were all incredible! This is a really fun place and you can keep your paper target at the end. I highly recommend this place. My boyfriend and I loved our experience there.
Love this place and the Brooklyn location. The staff are super nice and chill and I usually have no problems getting a lane. In addition to archery, they also offer axe and knife throwing classes which are a blast. The Chinatown location is also great if you want to finish off the visit with some fantastic chow in the neighborhood.
Torn by how to rate a place with two locations on opposite ends of the spectrum of service.Brooklyn is amazing, welcoming, and spacious. A little far, which is why I went to the Manhattan location for my next vist. TheManhattan location is nice, but oddly suffers from overcrowding. Not from customers crowding the lanes, but no less than four staff members hanging out. While I shot for under my allotted hour, I was privy to chatting about weddings, upcoming dates, just how great everyone is on bare bow.I stayed because I paid for the hour, I left early because just when one staff noticed it getting crowded, they left, only to be replaced by another. To be clear, having fun at work is a rare commodity and I imagine working at a range IS fun. But why not use the empty lounge for talks about new protein shakes, instead of the sliver of safety behind an archery range.Thank you fellow customer who called retrieve when our stewards were occupied and Thank you Brooklyn for being why Ill come back.
Ive been going to Gotham for years. I started in Brooklyn but Allen Street is much more convenient for me since I work in Manhattan. The staff is the best part about this place. They are knowledgable, always incredibly kind and happy to help, and have a great sense of humor which is essential when you miss fire and lodge your arrow in the back wall. The equipment is great and the facility, for being in such a small area, is laid out well. I always recommend calling ahead and booking a lane but they are as accommodating as they can be if you just drop in.
This an addictive sport and Gotham is the perfect place to feed that addiction. I usually go to the Manhattan location as its closer. Its much smaller than Brooklyn and doesnt have a pro-shop, but if 15 yards is okay for your distance, then its a great range with an excellent staff that are always there to help and improve your technique. Gotham is the perfect spot to go with friends, reserve for a party, or drop by on ones own to shoot for an hour or two. With so much of old New York sadly disappearing, Gotham in LES is a great new addition! (... oh, they teach knife and axe throwing as well.)

2022-04-10This was the most fun Ive had in a long time! The staff were amazing and helpful. They really make it fun to learn. Before going to the intro beginner lesson I was curious about picking up archery as a skill and after today I am SOLD! Looking forward to making a purchase of my own bow and continuing to train with them. Also - awesome date option.

2021-06-19Super fun! Super safe! Instructor was very informative, nice, and extremely funny. This is a great location and entertaining time. Can’t wait to go back for the larger target area. This is a must try NYC.The prices are cheap and your time is not wasted. After the 1st class you can return and shoot arrows all you like and no need to do the instructor class again. Love it.

2022-08-19We took the Introduction to Archery class this week. It was incredibly fun and educational. We learned all about the equipment, safety and technique in about 20 minutes and the rest of the hour was practice with some challenges at the end.The instructor was knowledgeable and made learning and the safety aspects fun and engaging. I’ll be back to rent a lane in the near future, our whole group had so much fun.

2022-07-20A great way to spend an hour indoors by yourself or on a date! Especially when the weather is soooo hot right now. Super friendly staff, knowledgeable, and the place was clean. I was a little nervous at first, but they made sure everybody in the class was comfortable and had all their questions answered before moving to the next step. I did not feel rushed at all. As you shoot staff will take turns and gives tips on how you can continue to improve your shooting accuracy which was really helpful. The experience was fun and I would definitely come again.

2022-08-19Really a warm place to learn about archery, or practice it on a higher level. The staff is phenomenal, price is perfect, and it’s near so many bars for a post shootout drink. Highly recommend!
