Governors Comedy Club in other cities:
Beginning of the show was explicitly told still photos were allowed; only videos were not. About five minutes in a security guard THREATENED TO KICK ME OUT over taking pictures but then never said anything to anyone else the entire time. Only came to this venue for Kurtis Conner and will absolutely NEVER come back after this.Same security guard wouldnt let me go to the merch table because I didnt have a specific piece of paper saying I paid for my food(even though I had someone at the table waiting to pay). Even when I showed him my literal receipt he was still giving me a hard time and my waitress had to come over and tell him that we paid and were allowed to leave. Love the comedian I saw, but absolutely hated this venue.
I like the venue. The comedians are usually pretty good. Id love to give 5 stars but the service is rude and the drinks are terrible. If you want to enjoy your visit Id recommend telling the waitress to bring you two or three bottled beers as soon as they come over. Just dont buy the mixed drinks because theyre terrible. Drinks are probably watered down and taste like sipping cherry syrup. They do get very busy in there so Im okay with waiting a couple minutes for service but no excuse to be rude.
Went here for Big Jay Okerson!!!Over all great experience. A few hiccups, we were kindly asked to be re-seated after about 10 mins. Of sitting in our orignally seats . but then had to wait about 15 mins just for a waitress and then i had to ask twice for water.... Honestly i defintly dont blame the waitress( she was super sweet).I believe its just understaffed for larger crowds! We will defintly be back when Ari Shaffir comes too town!!
Do not go!! We finally had a date night with another couple. Went to see joe gorga. Omg!! He was so drunk and unable to perform. They offered us NOTHING!! I sent emails. They said someone would call me. Never happened!! So disappointed. Ive been going to this place for over 30 years! I wanted refund. It ended up to be a $400 night with the tix and food. I dont think Ill ever go back because it was so poorly handled.
Saw Michael Loftus on the Patio, he was fantastic . Food and dessert was good. Waitress was nice, but service was a Little slow , think they didnt have enough help. Prices are good. Plenty of parking . Also you cant buy one ticket, have to buy two or more which I didnt like as my son wanted to come and couldnt find anyone to take and we were stuck with a ticket
Service is just terrible. Took 30 minutes to get each round of drinks. We ordered cans and still took forever. Place is losing so much money from these turnaround times. Ordered dinner for three people at 730pm and got it at 915pm during the main act. People at some tables were being loud during the show and nobody was approaching them. Could have been the funniest people on the planet but service was such a distraction. This was our second time with same experience. I don’t think I can give it a third shot.
Fyi before you go know alittle about the comedians performing that night. 1st time we went we had a good time, food was good and the comedians were funny. Last time we went about 3 years ago they had 1 really bad comic. He smoked while performing even though smoking is not allowed. My wife has asthma and was coughing which forced us to leave. He also insulted a woman for calling her babysitter and continued to insult her throughout the show we stayed for. He also found a few people who had different political beliefs than he does and attacked them as well. I can see making some jokes on others but it became pretty uncomfortable after awhile. He had nothing that was funny, just non stop insults. My wife was afraid to leave because she thought he would attack us as well. Needless to say we havent been back since. Overall you can have a good time (gave 3 stars) but just be prepared to who is performing before you go.
The comedians were very funny and I enjoyed it! Big names, too! I guess its been awhile since Ive been to a comedy club, but it was very pricey. $30 per person, plus you have to buy two items from the menu. Every item is at least $12. By the end of the night, it comes out to $50-60 a person, and a family of four, almost $200 for heavy, fatty food. I found the bathrooms to be too dark, so I had to use the flashlight on my phone to find the toilet. Little things like these really bring down my opinion of this place.
This was the first time we visited governors comedy club. I didnt realize the seating was going to be tables, which was understandable. A little uncomfortable, but not nearly as uncomfortable as being crammed with only inches between you and your neighbor. The food was good depending what you got, assuming you will get it. It took over an hour to get any food. I understand it was busy, but if Im paying for the VIP tickets itd be nice to eat at some point. Service was terrible, I dont know how many times I had to ask for a glass of water and the waitress came with other peoples things and said Ill come back with your water. Several others in my area felt similar. But the comedians were amazing and we really enjoyed that.Carrot cake was good though.
Always a great variety of comics. Nice comedy club atmosphere. Nice mix and diversity of comics as well. Topics range across all all topics! :) Food is good for this time of venue and reasonable as well. Get on email list and you can occasionally score free admission. Recently changed policy to two item minimum from two drink minimum which might work out better for some.
I loved this place. Everyone was very courteous. The bartender was very nice and explained to us how the procedures work with your ticket purchase and he also made good drinks! The owner of the place was also very nice and gave us useful information also. The staff were excellent in taking our orders and kept checking if we needed anything else. Food was very good. Prices were good. Place was nice and clean. This was my first time here and I had a wonderful time. Will highly recommend this place for anyone looking to have a fun time in a great atmosphere.
Good comedians, slow food service, drinks are drinkable. We just had appetizers and sandwiches which tasted pretty good. I would go back for drinks and fun, I just would be a bit concern about eating again because the bathroom is too dirty and to me the bathroom shows how clean can be the kitchen. Good staff.
The place has always been a great place but since COVID, it’s even better because people are not sitting so very close to you. The prices are beyond reasonable. The comedy was amongst the funniest I have EVER seen!! Love Anthony Rodia!! We wish him all of the very best but it is a shame that he is going to become so famous that he probably won’t play small clubs like Governors anymore.
We went and saw a show in the lil room. It was to say the least over crowded and most of the comedy acts were sub par . The drink staff was working very hard but there werent enough girls to work the room and we waited forever for beverages. I wouldnt need to do that again . Maybe the big room was better .
It was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was great and the food was delish! I went solo bcs my friend wasnt able to make it and at first I thought, oh boy, a comedy club and Im alone, but honestly, I felt right at home. I sat with an awesome couple 3 seats from the stage and had a blast. Of course i got picked on...lol...Definitely recommend going. Parking, seating, service and lighting werent an issue. Go and enjoy!
The show was good and we overall had a nice night. Couple of things: we were seated so close to the stage that the comedians were actually spitting on us, our necks hurt so bad the next day. 2 drink minimum, which is totally normal for a comedy club, drinks were ok - next time Ill probably save my money and get 2 sodas - the seating was just terrible thou.
Its a good time, even when the comedians suck. Huge parking lot. Try to get free tickets, which will still cost you the 2 drink minimum. They kind of jam pack you in so when its crowded it can be a little uncomfortable. They have food but Ive never eaten there. Someone ordered fish near me one time. Smelled horrible. Who the hell orders fish at a comedy club? That mightve been the funniest part of that night. There are plenty of good places to grab a bite nearby. Anyway its a good night out so just go there and have a great time.
I have worked in retail and customer service since i was 16. I was treated like a criminal from start to finish. Guy at the gate was rude. Waited 30 minutes for a waitress but only because we walked in and asked to be served after other tables were on their second drinks. One waitress who came by was rude as ever. Made a snarky comment and turned her back and walked away before we could open our mouths. I would never treat my clients like this after we did nothing that could have remotely upset her.
They always have coupons for admission. We saw a lineup of three comedians, the first one was awful, the second a fellow named Zeigler who was awesome, and the third was the icon of comedy, Robert Klein. We ordered drinks and a snack, beers were cold and properly served, nachos were OK, bucket of onion rings was popular at the table. My friend ordered Buffalo chicken wings, mild, he said, and they were, but as buffalo wings, they were still peppery. They took them back and they brought him crispy wings with sauce on the side! Way better service than expected!And... the prices were no more than youd pay in a pub. Four drinks, four appetizers, tax and a 20% tip included, it was ninety bucks.
I don’t know why the reviews are average@ best,I’ve been going to Governor’s for quite a while now and they have withstood the test of time!, The entire staff are extremely friendly and helpful!, The minute you walk in the greet you an escort you to your seats, the room is a pretty good size but obviously you have to get there early to get the seats/table you desire, food is actually pretty good for a comedy club! And the waitresses/bus boys are always on top of their game!I got the steak tidbits sandwich yesterday with fries and it was delicious! My wife got the wings and our two friends got the quesadillas and a buffalo chicken wrap and they enjoyed their dinners as well! It’s Almost like upscale pub food, drink menu is enormous!,Great wine, cold beer on tap including Peron an old-school drinks like woo woo And Sicilian kisses! LOL Prices are very fair as well, tonight we got to see Long island’s own Joey Kola!He was sooo funny & even gave us a little bit more time before the later show,I can’t say one bad thing about governor’s comedy club and highly recommend it for a great evening out with friends/family!
They run an organized operation here. They maximize the space they have with seating. The gratuity is included in the bill total which makes closing the check a breeze. The servers are BUSY yet maintain a pleasant attitude without sacrificing efficiency of service. And of course... the entertainment is worth it. They bring in quality comedians from all over the island...it is a great night out!
Good place... Just be careful if you pay your tab in cash... The tip is automatically added to the bill and the waitress disappears with your tip. I had to request my waitress to return and suddenly she forgot how much my tab was. The same thing happened to another person that was there at the same time... I was going to add to her tip but when she decided to take my change I changed my mind !
Not a good time. Over $100 for a mediocre comedy show.- There is a 2 item minimum. We had four things and all of them were bad. 3 poorly mixed drinks and a gross cheesecake that tasted like they defrosted it. 2 of the drinks were mudslides. There was no price next to any of the drink specials - Turns out that these crappy drinks were $12 each.- Service was not good - too many people and too little staff. Also felt cold - not the most friendly place.- Place is dingy. I expect that from comedy clubs but if youre going to charge more, offer more!- They have long tables and seat random people at them together so you and your date might be seated at a table of 10 elbow to elbow with strangers.I think this place does well because they have no competition and get some good acts to appear. Its a shame that they dont care more about customer experience.
We went to this place for a fundraiser and the waitress messed up everything. The waitress did NOT tell us at the beginning of the night that the bill is made for the whole table. At the end of the night, we got a bill for over $120. The manager came and told us that we should have told the waitress we all wanted separate check. It took the waitress over 15 minutes to sort everything out. Very sloppy job on her part. The club itself is great and the show was very good but they need to be more kind to the patrons and say important stuff like that BEFORE the table orders their meals.
Horrible experience!!!! The opening acts are the same all the time. Most of them perform the same acts time after time. We really need to hear about Tim Gage and his experience with hazelnut coffee 10 times or the Hawaii Alaska picture day guy. Tonight, the bouncer had the nerve to inspect my bag searching for food. If you didnt serve junk frozen food with a horrible selection of desserts maybe you wouldnt be in this situation. No classy restaurant searches your bags. If you like to be harassed, this is your place. Avoid at all costs and go to a good club in the city.
First off the food sucks! The drinks are watery and completely overpriced. I arrived on time and received terrible customer service. The waitress had an attitude the entire night and I dont understand how they are able to have amateur and mediocre comedians on a Saturday night and over charge people to come see this show. I went to the other two clubs and I see the same comedians doing the same jokes.
Loud and Crowded!!! But that is the premise of a comedy club, isnt it?! Yet truth be told I was attending a fundraiser for an organization... But several others were attending fundraisers for different causes. (Hence the sea of people and the volume of noise--)... The mandatory edict to order two items from the menu is okay-- and yes! Im all for folks making a living. But the prices are nearly as voluminous as the crowd I sat amongst. The staff, however, especially the bouncer that was at the door was a gentleman❤Will I go back again? Maybe... But no fault of Governors Comedy Club--this just isnt my scene...
Was there last night 3/17/2018, the place was poorly lit, very dark before the show starts, cant even read the menu, needed to use our cell phones for flashlight to read menu. The place is very dirty, needs to have full makeover, they put the ceiling fans on , they were so dusty, looks like they havent clean them in years. Also , went they put them on I covered my drink, because I was afraid the dust would fall off the fan and go in my drink.Dust was hanging from fan. That was disgusting. Also, I had salad with my meal and they put it in a very small plate, like a saucer from a coffee cup. The salad was falling all over the table.. I hope someday they will clean that place up. It definitely needs a overall . Very concern customer!!!
The show was excellent a cabaret type act... the room was way over booked, the food was horrendous on top of a 45 min wait for just about anything including drinks.. then to top it off we were interrogated by some one when we were leaving about have a paid ticket..ridiculous management
Saturday, Dec. 28The Lil RoomThe show of about 7 comedians was fun -The service was aweful‼‼DO NOT GO THERE HUNGRY OR THIRSTY‼‼The WORST part is, the place is filthy, cobwebs ALL OVER the ceilings - by the time the food came u didnt even want to eat.HIRE A CLEANING CREW PEOPLE!!!
Its a comedy club.. packed in a small bar like cattle before they let you in, small tables with too many chairs when you get in, etc. That being said, food and drinks are pretty good and the waitstaff is very friendly and work quickly. Check the comedians before you go, its Levittown, not NYC!
Always a great time here. Some of their unknow acts are good some are bad. But the headliners will really take the night. Fair prices on drinks and food. I recommend arriving 10 mins (no more than 15) before the show starts, theres not a bad seat in the house. But you dont want to sit there for a half hour before the show with nothing to do.
I give the comedians a solid 4 starts but the food, service and drinks 2 stars. We didnt get our food until the Headliner act was 10 mins in. We were told the kitchen is backed up but my friend ordered a Cesar Salad. The wine tasted cheep. Usually a house wine is a like Sutter Home, but this one wasnt even as good as that. If u like a strong tart martini go with the skyscraper. All and all we would definitely go back for the laughs.Just went back again, similar review, different martini.
Excellent show ,great drinks, the food is okay, get there early to get a good seat because seating is a very tight spacing.Overall I enjoyed it and would recommend people to attend.FYI they do fundraisers 4 those of u trying to raise money 4 a program.and there is plenty of parking space because its located in a shopping strip.
Me and my boyfriend want to see a show today to see mike marino and my boyfriend is handicap and they let my boyfriend stand and didnt even offer him a chair they let us stand an hour out side and he even called up and told them and they didnt even care and then we went in side and he told them again that he is Hindi cap and they didnt even let us go into the room first I was last . they are so Disgusting how they treat a handicap person. people I dont recommend this place to anyone this place likes to discrmintate people that are handicap. Now Im getting a Lawyer.
Comedy show was one of the best food was great service was great ill recomend this please to any of my friends and family....ps i really appreciate the bouncer...cool dude man im a big black dude and he sure found me a spot where i was more than comfortable .. thaks boss man i appreciate you.
I went to brokerage last nite to see John Mulrooney ... We had a table of eighteen , friends and family we never laughed so hard, it was non stop laughing he is some comic.. everyone cant wait for his next show... I never wanted it to end... great show !!!! He is fantastic!!!!
The place is kinda small the food wasnt good at all from the meal plan we had it was dark could barely see your food and drinks arent included in the meal package so i was tricked on that but only reason Id come back is for Vic he was great made the whole experience better
Oof. How do I put this. Okay so I love comedy, hence the three stars. I know its not Manhattan, but this place is antiquated AF. The drink menu looks like something that might have been fresh in 1993. The food was dusted in ground parsely? The servers seem to grin and bare it. While perusing the menu I tried to choose the safest option possible as to avoid calling in sick the next day. I try to save sick days for mental health only. Needless to say if the plan is to keep the crowd 50+ and 100% long island tackiness - then they have certainly succeeded. Please give Governors in Levittown the makeover it desperately deserves.

2022-02-28Best first comedy club experience I could have asked for! I saw Kurtis Conner when he came through and Governors Comedy Club was the perfect venue for the event. Not only was every possible sight line perfect, but the food was delicious! The security dealt perfectly with an extremely rude customer during the show and the wait staff and front desk were both extremely kind. I did not know that the establishment served sub a wide variety of food before the show and was happily surprised! Bravo!

2022-05-14Great place. Was smoothly run for a packed house. Show was sold out. Nick DiPaolo. Sprung for the dinner VIP package. Definitely too tight, but being 5 feet from the stage... well call it even. The dinner was surprisingly good! No offensw to the establishment. Just not what I would expect from a comedy club.

2022-05-08Drinks are not great for the price, food is low end bar food. Shows are decent. Most comedians are very funny. I dont care for how close you sit next to strangers. I think there should be more personal space.

2022-02-27I booked a party of 10 people for a Saturday night. We were in the giggle room. The chairs and tables were so close together, you couldn’t move. Half of our party had their backs to stage and couldn’t turn to see show. There were so many people jammed into the room is def was a fire hazard. The waitresses could barely get through to serve drinks. The bar was backed up and it was tough to get drinks. Food took forever to come out. There was only one bathroom for the room with only one toilette. The drinks were strong but not good. The comedians were great. I will never go back.

2022-03-11No comedy club in the United States has a deeper tradition of offering live standup in a cool nightclub atmosphere. Top to bottom, quality is exceptional, from the comics to the service and food and drinks. Experienced staff, always respectful and courteous, help you realize you came to the right place.

2021-05-04This was my first time here, last night. This place is hidden and looks like a club venue on the outside. While walking into the entrance you see plaques of different comedians that will be & have performed here. Inside it has an old school, luxury mobster type of vibe, yet feels regal. The show was perfectly planned plus gave me enough time to order my drink, appetizer and entree before the show began. The food quality was ok as it was flavorful but didn’t have that fresh taste that I’m used too.My show featured famous comedian from the DEF JAM comedy series DL HUGHLEY. He did fantastic.I’m glad I went as this place is definitely a hidden gem and a destination place for good comedy in LI.GO HERE!

2022-03-11Very close atmosphere, needs a little more help but the appetizers were great and the waitresses were on top of their game. Maybe we will be there again if the price goes down. I spent that much in gas just getting there. I advise you to buy tickets online if possible. I couldnt because of a glitch but $60.00 at the door was a lil steep. We were in L.I. not NYC. Im positive that price will keep many away. I went to the comedy club in Manhattan, it was $ 15.00 at the door and they had 5 comedians that were great. I get Covid 19 screwed many businesses but gas being $4.76 a gallon.. You all have to compromise somewhere. $68.97 to fill up my little Mustang V6 and it had a 1/4 tank is disgusting... I dont go out much but gas prices and club at door prices out of control. Its Deck parties all spring and summer for my family for sure. Good luck and thank you. LH

2019-04-01Had a great night tonight at the comedy club. It was my first time but expect me there again. I was there for a fundraiser from school and had a blast. I liked variety of comedian and their acts along the way. Food is good and at affordable prices. Had a brownie for the desert it was a great treat. Cant wait to go there again.

2019-12-08Had a great time tonight. All comics tonight were amazing! First was Eric Tartaglione, then next up was Tom Daddario, and last but not least Vic Dibitetto. I have laughed that hard in a while! Thank you to all the comics for a great night and thank you to Governors Comedy Club for hosting and getting great talent! Awesome time!

2019-06-23Always a fun time. Good service. Sometimes a hit or miss with the warm-up comedians. Great for date night. Sign up your email and you can get free admission for up to 8 people. Great parking at Governors.
