Graduate Roosevelt Island in New York
Views and the rooftop bar were great. Roosevelt island is fun to spend the day. However, I wouldnt recommend the pup package. It doesnt include the additional fee for the pet, I paid and additional $50 for the pup package that was supposed to include a dog bed, bowls, treats and 15% off at the local pet shop. None of these were in the room. I recommend just paying the additional $50 if bringing a pet. Also there was old food from a previous guest in the fridge, we called to let the front desk know, but it was never remedied.
My reason for staying at this hotel was for a mental health wellness break. Upon checkin, I noticed that the grey throw blanket on my bed had some sort of dried substance on it. Im not sure if it was possibly saliva, or any other bodily fluid. In addition, there were stains on the pillow cases. So I called the front desk and spoke to someone, she told me shed send someone up to assist. The housekeeping staff member was not rude, but failed to mention they couldn’t change the sheets while I’m as in the room. Instead, I had to do the task myself.Later on, I called my sister (who works in the hotel industry for 17+ years) and told her about my experience and she called the hotel to file a complaint on my behalf. We spoke to staff member, who used a pleasant tone with me but was constantly speaking over my sister who was trying to explain the situation. My sister was not yelling at her but The other staff member asked why she needed to be on the phone, which I thought was rude because my sister was helping me by explaining the situation and trying to keep my stress to a low level. The staff member did explain there would be an investigation but didn’t update me until 5 hours later.I was never once offered compensation by management or an proper apology other than. We will look into the matter and get back to you. Usually, a room change or compensation would be offered for the inconvenience of me having to stay in the same room AND change my own sheets after I had just checked in. Then I was called after sending an email to the manager. I was told that they would waive the amenities fee $50 total from an almost $500 stay for two nights. I was also told they would bring amenities that evening ( I was checking out the following morning) and no one followed up or followed through with the “amenities” they would provide. I was also offered to move to a different room with less than 12 hours left of my stay. Disappointed is an understatement as I enjoy staying at the graduate in providence frequently when I visit my sister.
It’s unfortunate but our company uses this hotel for its employees during layovers in LaGuardia. I’ve dealt with Mohit before about lack of microwave and coffee makers in the hotel room which is required with the contract our company signed with the hotel. It’s been a few months since I’ve been here and again our entire crew had no microwave or coffee makers. Whoever I dealt with last night was less than enthusiastic about providing those items for us, instead just offered excuses as to why they are not there. It’s amazing that other hotels we go to can figure it out but this place just can’t wrap their head around how to provide this for us. It’s the last thing we want to be doing is fighting for the basic requirement to heat up our food after a 14 hour day. The hotel itself is quirky but clean and is in a good location if you want to access Manhattan. We go to many hotels across the country and like the other reviews say the customer service is lacking. Avoid if you can.
This is a hidden GEM. Great quiet location. 2 blocks from E F train one stop into Manhattan OR take the scenic 5 minute tram around the corner from the hotel. The tram drops you off around the corner from Bloomingdales The rooms are stunning comfortable beds beautiful linens and AMAZING views. It’s so quiet I slept with my windows opened and slept like a baby. The rooftop bar has inside outside seating with panoramic views of the East river and Manhattan the Empire State build Chrysler building and bridges. The staff is friendly. The restaurant and bars over Ed great drinks and wine selections. The food was fabulous as well. My colleagues LOVED the location and the hotel as did my friends who live in Manhattan. Don’t let the location keep you from staying here. It’s Ez fast and safe getting in and out of the city. I highly recommend this hotel.
Lovely hotel on the quaint little Roosevelt island. Was stuck there in the Jan 2022 snow storm and it was a decent place to be in while waiting out the storm. Hotel’s food choices are limited to the one restaurant in the lobby and delivery can take a while as most will have to come from outside the island.
We were turned away by the front desk staff from going to the panorama room because we had our 7 week old baby with us. The women at the front desk stated it was illegal in New York City to take a baby to a bar, which is simply not true. I felt discriminated against as a mother and was very disappointed by the interaction and poor customer service. We were excited to see the hotel as we live nearby and thought it would be a fun staycation option but today has turned us off ever staying there, particularly as according to the front desk staff we wouldn’t even be able to go to the bar with our baby. How ridiculous.
Service was so bad and the staff at the front desk were so rude. They sure know how to talk/argue with their guest and make their stay even more uncomfortable.Waited an hour for my in room dining menu to be sent up. Legend has it that she is still waiting.Room is small and cramp. Location not very ideal. Wouldn’t stay here if it weren’t for the fact that I’m here for a work trip and the company arranged for it.
Beautiful location but pricy for tapas size portions with not the best service. I sat at one of the tables on the outskirts of the bar for over 20 minutes no one came to give me a menu. He said really ok let me get someone 10 minutes later still no one came over ...I finally got up and ask the guy shucking oysters if he can grab a server for me his response was I cant I am very busy..... seriously ridiculous not a great way to treat people . I finally was able to flag down one of the bartenders to place an order .Food and cocktails were very good I order a simple cocktail with cucumber vodka mint and simple syrup because the person next to me ordered one it looked delicious they charged me $21.00 for a small 6oz glass seems a bit much! You can see the breakdown of the bill attached for two people it was over $300 months plus the $45 dollars for parking which they didnt even move or park the car the kept it right where we left it when we drove up to the valet. To park over night the charge 85!!!! This is more then Manhattan prices! the room are beautiful and spacious for NYC standards.Would I go back ?? probably because it truly is a beautiful location especially during the summer day with amazing views and a great DJ !I Also wish they served a simple burger or sliders on the menu upstairs because the food they have is not very filling .pros- beautiful new location with amazing viewsGreat espresso martinisCons- staff is kinda snotty and dismissive with over the top prices .Hotel was a max capacity so I do advise booking a reservation in advance because it was fully booked when I arrived I did get lucky two people left and I had a seat
I went as part of a wedding block but the room fee was definitely misleading. This hotel has fees for things they dont tell you about: room fee (what is that?) for 19 dollars and facility fee (for wifi, etc. not mentioned on check in ) for 35 dollars. There is a staffing issue - there was no one at the desk to check out, no one answers the phone on multiple different days of trying to reach this hotel. Once they get your credit card, you will be charged more than you expect. They take your money and the staff arent even on site. I cant recommend this place because of their integrity on billing and staffing problems.
Restaurant food and valet staff were nice.Very artist specific hotel, the staff (except 1 gentleman at night) seemed very underwhelmed and annoyed to be at work ,to say the least, or answer any questions about their hotel. $5 bottled water in the room, very cheap fixtures and no coffee or microwave in the rooms. The restaurant was supposed toopen for breakfast at 7:00 and no front staff arrived until 7:30 only being able to serve coffee and pastries no menu items.
This is a review based on the valet company for this hotel. When I got to my car this morning, the car parked behind me was on my bumper, leaving dents.I left 2 notes, one for the red car that hit my car and another for the car parked behind the red car as a warning with the information for the red car. When I left a note with my phone number and a message asking the driver to do the right thing and provide their insurance information, a valet driver came out to talk to me stating that the hotel valet had parked the red car, not the car owner. My car was hit while parked overnight and there were no notes and zero insurance information left for me (making this a hit and run). When the valet driver questioned me about the notes, he did not do anything to compensate for the damages done to my car or offer any help. He took the notes off both cars to save face as it would reflect poorly on the valet company.
Good service, nice rooms. Super convenient if you are visiting Cornell Tech. For Manhattan, less convenient but the tram and the F-train are close by and make it easy to cross into Manhattan. Roosevelt Island is a nice place to walk around with views in all directions.
Despite having the Do Not Disturb sign up, maintenance knocked loudly twice, disturbing our nap. I went to the door and talked to him. He doubled down on it being appropriate to knock. He explained that he had been told to change the AC filter and that sometimes the sign was up, but the room was empty. I asked what the purpose of the sign was if he still knocked, and he said he was told to change the filter. This was on the first day of a six day stay. We complained to the front desk. They were apologetic, but said to talk to the manager. We checked at the desk daily, but the manager was never there. They said he called our cell phone, but we had no missed call or message. They said they would start an investigation, but we heard nothing. If we had any kind of contract from management that indicated that they took this seriously or that staff were retrained, Id give more stars. Otherwise, a good experience.
Worst hotel customer service I’ve ever dealt with. I tried calling the Anything At All restaurant and couldn’t get through. Their phone number kept sending me to the Panorama Room restaurant. They were unable to transfer my call from the Panorama room to Anything At All for some reason. I was hung up on multiple times because the number they gave me was incorrect. Asked to speak to the general manager and even they couldn’t seem to pick up their phone. What a joke that this is considered a “4 star hotel”
Wether staying and paying for a room or just setting up your computer in the lobby to get some emails sent off, this is a great stop if you’re in nyc. Roosevelt island is a a perfect spot to stay. The rooms have neat lighting and the lobby is out of this world. The internet is good unless doing hefty download and upload work. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable of great places to go. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have great views. Love staying or working out of here and would do it again
I would like to start this review with some shout outs, the following people were pertinent to our trip being as classy and enjoyable as it was: Fenda the restaurant manager,Tivadar our bartender, Johnathan night audit,Mahmuda host at panorama room,Estelle f&b director and Marina our server. The front desk team; Yeshaira , Alnethia, Kira (sales) and Shakazia. This trip was very special to not just myself but my boyfriend who has never been to New York City! We are visiting from Maryland and have never been to another Graduate location besides the one in Annapolis. Our expectations were surpassed with excellence, grace and hospitality at its finest! From the moment we walked into the room seeing birthday cake and a birthday card to the quality of the bed and the pillows equaled perfection!!It is very clear to me that the staff has been hand-picked just based on casual interactions. It is nice to come to a hotel where everyone is in sync with one another no matter the department. I certainly cannot wait to return to this location and to visit our newfound friends!!– Respectfully, Ariel and Patrick
The views from this place are mind boggling. There is a rooftop bar that lets you see the whole city. The reason for the 4 stars is that the bar plays music way too loud. It should be a chill hangout spot but it was soooooo dark and loud that my friends and I left after a short time.
The Hotel manager (Anthony Pipkin ) made an error and charged my card upon me checking out after I let them know of the incident he failed to provide reasonable compensation for the error resulting in me losing funds on my account during my trip and losing my uber he then said “ you can keep shaking your head there is nothing i can do”
Absolutely fantastic experience! Everything from the DJ to the panoramic views are done 100% correctly. The snacks are awesome (truffle fries) and drinks are done right. Is recommend spending a little extra and trying all they food. We went after dinner and were full, but every plate we saw looked fantastic. We also had the best views weve ever seen (and weve been on many NYC rooftops). Food, service, ambience, music, drinks... everything was perfect!
The Graduate has been the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. I’ve been frequently booking with them for my clients, and the customer service is unbeatable. Cristina, Jennifer, and Daniel are so sweet and helpful and always accommodate me and my clients needs in a timely manner. They need a raise!!This is always my first choice for hotels and our clients always leave happy and wanting to come back. If you’re looking for a place with clean rooms, great views, and excellent customer service, book here ASAP. Would recommend them to everyone and anyone!
First of all, there really isn’t much to do on Roosevelt Island but the hotel itself should be a destination for folks. It’s a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of the city (no loud honking, traffic, etc.). The benefit is having a panorama view of the city from the hotel. It’s right on the river so it feels like you’re really in your own bubble but just a 5-minute tram ride away to the city.I loved the concept of the hotel and the classy collegiate theme was lovely. From the wallpaper in the bathrooms to the coverlets and framed photos hanging throughout the hotel, it really had a cohesive theme. The rooms were clean and the beds were firm but comfortable. The staff was friendly and professional as well. We will definitely be staying here again!
They have the best bed to sleep ever.Wanted to ask hotel staff what’s the brand of the mattress and pillows. The room is very clean and spacious with the modern design not like normal hotel. The staff are nice and friendly if you got the odd number room you will have the view of Empire State Building and New York City.
The Graduate has beautiful rooms. We stayed on the 15th floor. The view was absolutely breathtaking. We had a corner room, so the front door was close to another corner door, but we barely heard the neighbors. The water pressure was very good. The bed was extremely comfortable and comes with large pillows as well as a body pillow. The hotel staff was very friendly. The rooms do not contain coffee pots or have any way to heat up water or food. My only real issue the entire stay was getting bombarded at night by hotel staff about the top floor bar. When we would come in at night with our children to go to the elevator, staff would rush to let us and tell us to stand in a line (its more shouted at you) at the elevator or that we cannot leave our kids unattended when we reach the bar. We were never planning on going to the bar and would have to explain that we were staying on the 15th floor. Unfortunately, this occurred multiple times. Other than that, it was beautiful. The whole island is lovely and if you want to walk around it, its quite peaceful.
They do not wash or vacuum the floor. I brought some sand from California. Three days passed, and it is still there.Overall - fine. Not a trace of roaches and stuff, which might be possible in cheap hotels. But still not as enjoyable as Marriott like hotels. Difference is in subtle details. No trash bin near the sink.Inconveniently located hangers for towels. No kettle or hot water available.Small (albeit good) gym (effectively for one person functional training). There is an operational Peloton. But no headphones so make sure to bring your own.Kinda “designer” decoration, but this did not appeal to me and looked weird to me.
Checked out this new (and only) hotel on Roosevelt Island and LOVE it. Note, I did not stay here but love the vibe and we did have lunch here and also drinks at the rooftop bar which has spectacular views of the city (separate reviews). The architect for the hotel is Snohetta and theyve done an amazing job. Walls are lined with over 10,000 text books, theres lots of greenery. Make sure you check out the bathrooms with their Roosevelt wallpaper. We were there on a Friday and took note of people checking in - couples, families and lots of flight crews (Singapore Air was especially fabulous). I will be back to check out the hotel and the restaurant/bar seasonally. I have a feeling it will be spectacular in the winter.
The hotel itself is beautiful. Aesthetically pleasing with great views and a unique artistic touch from the ground level all the way to your room. This would have easily been a 5 star review if it was a museum. However it looks like the graduate forgot it was a hotel. Lack of service is one thing, but simple accommodations are a requirement in hotels. I cant get a simple Keurig coffee that i could even get at a motel 6 if the resteraunt is closed. I needed spoons at 9pm for my room but there was no one in the lobby at sight. We called and kept being put on hold from the phone for room service. There is no room service! No food to your room either (which i can live without). At check in and check out we were given so much attitude by the lady behind the counter at the lobby. If any other hotel decided to open up in Roosevelt island, all they would need is some decent service to compete and top this place. Not worth staying at currently, i hope they change.
Brand new and state of the art hotel complex with gorgeous roof top bar and exquisite restaurant and lounge area. Its a one stop destination for guest who dont feel like running around to experience modern luxury in the city of New York. You get to hold court with your friends, catch up, relax, and enjoy dinner in a terrific environment, and walk back up to your room to rest. All in one, very modern and stylish complex. Oh, did I mention the panorama view of new york city skyline is to die for? You get to see the entire skyscraper of the island from way downtown to uptown.
Spent a few weeks here while working in the area and it was an absolute pleasure. The staff from start to finish were incredibly attentive and flexible to any needs. The hotel restaurant and bar was very charming and the staff friendly, they even offered to deliver food to rooms while they were completely packed for the 4th of July celebrations! The food is a little pricey but absolutely delicious and the creative theme to the rooms was really eye catching. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
I was turned away as a resident of Roosevelt island. It was the most humiliating thing that has ever happened to me. I purchased the discounted rate during the month of August. I had my daughter and her new husband go there, when they went to check in late in the evening, they were rudely turned away by the evening front desk manager. They said I had to be there at check in, being the island resident. That would have been fine, if we were informed about that ahead of time. Not one mention of it anywhere. I was so frustrated at the lack of empathy or simple hospitality, I called the island police. They did nothing, The two men, Graduate manager & RI Police, chatted away from us and whispered and then we were turned away at 1:00 am in the morning to go home. Did I mention it was my daughter & her husbands wedding weekend (they had a quiet Covid wedding)? All for what? I was approached by the hotel manager the next day with an apology. What happened can never be made right. My daughter was profiled. Both the night time manager and the Roosevelt Island Police Department were unprofessional and downright bullies. Be careful who you hire!
That would be 5 because everything was great except for the fact that it’s impossible to sleep in this hotel because of extremely loud music. And when you say to the staff that you can’t have a rest because it’s very loud in the room they just say that you have to wait until 1 am. I paid a lot of money for a good room to have a good rest not to listen for annoying music. Don’t recommend this place
Second time staying here and I can say the location is fantastic with great views and the price is right at about $265 per night which is a bargain in NY. My only nit pick is there is no room service and no coffee machines in the rooms. I understand the restaurant is a separate company but coffee maker and vending machine would make a large difference.
The Graduate hotel is similar to fast fashion. You wear it once and you never want to wear it again. The hotel is filled with kitschy instagramable ornaments of poor quality. We stayed on the 17th floor in the presidential suite with a sofa bed in our room. The quality of the sofa bed was terrible. A flimsy mattress bought from a cheap discount store providing you with no rest and a severe backache. No coffee machine or complimentary water in the room. No microwave, no dishes and no ice in the fridge or ice tray available. No thought was given to the comfort of the guests. The bathroom was clean and the towels were plush. Unfortunately the water pressure in the shower was horrid. For a hotel with over 200 rooms they had only 1 ice machine on the fifth floor. This machine never worked and was unable to dispense any ice. We approached the front desk about this several times but nothing was ever done. The gym had no water bottles or fresh towels. The gym is built in a cramp space with one small window.Located on the 18th floor is Panorama, the hotel’s bar. Unfortunately the sound proofing between the 17th & 18th floor is very poor. We felt we were a part of the bar till about 2:30AM at night as we continued to hear music and thumping in our rooms. Sleeping seemed to be out of the question. Around 7:00 AM we awoke to the sound of furniture or other goods being moved around in bar.Breakfast was promised to us starting at 8:00 AM. Unfortunately when we approached the lobby restaurant at 8:30 AM the restaurant host told us they did not have staff and breakfast would not be served till 9:30 AM. When we finally sat down for breakfast at 9:30 AM the server had no idea what guests needed to be served. The server kept walking from the restaurant to the lobby to confirm with the front desk. As per the server The restaurant is independent and the hotel does not do a good job communicating the guests needs. For a property that tries to be hip/cool there was no food available past 10:00 PM on a Saturday night. No vending machine and no lobby market. My suggestion, step in to take a few photos in the lobby and take in the views of Manhattan from the 18th floor bar. Step straight out afterwards and find yourself a real hotel. The Graduate is nothing more than a flimsy Hollywood set.
Unfortunately I couldnt give the graduate 5 stars cause I didnt have a room or did not go to the restaurant but, I gave them four stars for the Big Dog Event. Which is still going on right this minute. Vendors of all kinds and free treats for your loved ones. Great going ! Must have again next year !
*Extremely disappointing & bad hospitality service*. Especially the room service department & the front desk. Calls weren’t answered promptly and when I requested for just a bottle of water, I had to wait for up to 2 hours for that. Repeated calls were made as I thought they might have forgotten about it.The last time I called to the front desk asking for that ONE BOTTLE of water. The person apologised and put me on hold. I waited for about a minute with no response from the other side and the call was hung up just like that after a minute of silence ???Food served was never once hot. I wonder if the hotel still wants to continue operating or might just consider closing it down.
The older woman (with accent) at the front desk is extremely unprofessional. Last week, she intentionally provided inaccurate information to discourage me and others from attending the Panorama Room rooftop. She indicated that the rooftop was not opened, but that she did not know the date in which it would be open - perhaps in a few weeks. This was completely false, as we knew that the rooftop had already opened to the public. She was also aware that the rooftop had already opened to the public. When she was challenged on this information, she immediately changed her tune and instead started talking gibberish to try to create confusion. Instead, it made her appear to be even more disingenuous. She intentionally provided misinformation to discourage me and others from patronizing the rooftop. We all know why.She needs to be taught to welcome all patrons with open arms, as well as the importance of providing the best in customer service. This employee needs to learn that there are negative consequences when she intentionally lies to potential patrons, and it is not just the lost of business.
Enjoyed the Anything at All restaurant downstairs. Ordered Orange Wine, costal toast, & Wagyu Burger with waffle fries. Costal toast was surprisingly extremely tasty, the sardines seemed fresh & not the canned taste. The mashed tomatoes tasted organic & spread over a dough bread that was toasted to perfection. Overall the burger was cooked to perfection & very filling. The orange wine was dry with slightly effervescent after taste; it was floral in the beginning but definitely has a orange zest which was refreshing. After eating downstairs, we went upstairs to check out the Panorama Room. Breath taking views of Manhattan skyline. Small food menu since they just opened (hopefully they’ll expand more), but they had their oyster bar. Usually I would try the oysters but I was still full off the burger. Great drink menu. The art decor & ambiance I’ll give a 10/10 with the bookshelf/lobby being very original. The bathroom has FDR’s face which I found charming. With the Manhattan skyline you can’t help but to have a good night.
The hotel is beautiful. The staff was courteous. My room was on the 13th floor, I went to take the stairs and the stairwell was full of trash bags, so many I could not go down the stairs. Huge safety hazard. We asked the lady at the reception desk if it was ok to pay in cash at checkout because we read two reviews that said they were over charged and had a difficult time getting it corrected. The lady was reassuring that cash was accepted, however the next morning, the black gentleman that checked us out stated he did not know who told us that but we could not pay cash. I asked him his name and he told me he is a manager and refused to give his name. He began repeating how he has been trained and on and on. Horrible experience.
This is the 1st hotel that tells me I cannot order lunch because they only take lunch order at 11am, not at 1055am. I ask if she can take my order now and process it at 11am.. She said the order will be lost! Call back in 5 mins.. Well, her tips just went to some UBER delivery boy.The good.. Room is nice and quiet considering this is New York! View of the manhattan skyline fm my room is quite something..Room is clean and comfortable.UBER eat order was sent to the room promptly.Check in process was smooth and staff friendly.
Overall i did enjoy this hotel, i would stay here again. I learned so much about Roosevelt IslandThe good:Allows cats at $25 dollars per nightBeautiful hotel. Lots of history and the decor was amazing!Very kind staff and valet, one of the nicest staff at a graduate, they go out of their way to be kindThe bed was comfy and loved the comforter and pillowsFridge in roomAmazing ice machine on the 5th floor that had water dispenser tooBeautiful view in my room morning and nightVery nice restaurant and barThe luggage carrier was amazing, easy to maneuver one of the best luggage carriers i have usedClose to restaurants and convenience stores with a red bus that rides all around Roosevelt Island for free!Amazing shower, heated up quick and great water pressure for showerLots of storage drawers in roomAc didnt make room very coldFelt safe with having to use key everytime went into in elevatorThe bad:Loud noises made all over my room. Like the furnace or ac is broken and is making a crashing noise by my bed then in the bathroom there is a screeching humming noise. Very annoying but didnt want to move rooms after unpacking so just dealt with itValet is $65 a night a little priceyNot really any public parkingNo snack bar or drink bar in hotelVery expensive restaurant in hotelSmall closet in room
Disorganized, Housekeeping IssuesHotel type: Low touch, place to sleep-Got my room 5.56pm, despite requesting early check in advance and in the AM again-They stated they had me “in queue” and would call, but provided rooms to members of my party that arrived later-Bathroom smelled like someone dropped a bottle of vinegar, but still had mildew-Next day: Requested that my room be cleaned and garbage emptied at reception, but no one came to clean+Good view of the city skyline in some rooms
Visited the hotel during the first couple weeks of it opening. It’s part of the Cornell Tech campus with notably bright and colourful decor. The lobby appears to be a contemporary version of the library bar at the NoMad, where I got a kick out of picking out textbooks one may recognise from grad school. The rooftop bar was yet to open, and the lobby bar had limited offerings for that evening (pictured)- I didn’t consider these as a negative as the city was yet to be considered as fully opened.I do intend to return soon and look forward to having a more complete experience.
Loved my stay here. Didnt realize it wd be so good to just look at Manhattan and zip over there on the SkyTram anytime. (Or subway.) Also easy access (couple blocks) to ferry to Queens.Best food on Roosevelt Island is in their easy and tasty restaurant. (Only open to seating before 9:30pm, evenings. Kitchencloses then, bar still available. ) Terrific flat white in the morning, depending on barrista that day.Very nice little gym with equipment looking and feeling new as of summer 2021.View of Queensborough Bridge posted here is 12th floor big room.
Extreme noisy place - beware if you are looking for a quite place close to Manhattan. The graduate is not for you. There is a roof top bar where hotel guests do not have access to but which is rented out to party people. The noise can be heard through the entire building. We had to move our room in the middle of the night - unfortunately with limited effect.
Graduate Roosevelt Island is now open!Enjoy some memories captured during and after the ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 3rd. 18 stories, 224 rooms, amazing views of the city, East River, Queensboro Bridge and more.📍Located in Roosevelt Island on 22 N Loop Road on Cornell Tech Campus🍽There is a restaurant called “Anything at all”🍹A Rooftop will opening in the following weeks🛏You can take a sneak peek of the rooms as well and DM me if you want to book any🏃🏻♀️Fitness center available📚The lobby is full of books collected (5,000 total) which is an ode to Cornell.🪆The “Flyboy” by Hebru Brantley(Updated review June 2021)Excited for this new hotel opening in Roosevelt Island!(April 2021)
Unbelievable experience! We stayed on 15 floor and the view was stunning!Very convenient to get there by public transportation.I live in Brooklyn and love Roosevelt Island. It was great to be a resident of Roosevelt Island just for one night. One more Unbelievable experience - they have thousands of books in the lobby. I will live there forever just to read all the books. 😉
Initially I rated the hotel 5 stars. After the issues I had during my stay (below), I needed to modify my review and changed it to 3 stars:The room was very clean and kind of cool. I was impressed with the view and the furnishings were great! Really cool vibe. However the thing that the hotel really really needs to work on is customer relations/guest services. I needed to extend my stay for a couple of days. In most other hotels, this probably could be done through the front desk. But here the reservations and the front desk are not connected in any way...and the reservations desk was quite unresponsive, meaning they did not pick up my calls repeatedly. It took me about an hour to get a hold of someone and we were about to complete a new reservation (at a great rate) when she said she needed to check on something. Unfortunately she never came back on the line. Then it took another hour to get someone else on the line to actually complete my reservation. It was entirely frustrating. Their telephone tree is inaccurate as their option for reservations was listed as nonfunctional. And yes I should have just done it on line...but since I was extending my stay, I was hoping to not check out of my room and just stay in the same room. But this whole ordeal was such a hassle. Also, as part of the stay, definitely be aware that they charge a $35/day facility fee. Part of this was complementary phone calls (it is unclear what that actually means), a wellness kit (COVID masks), and complementary coffee (a self-serve small carafe by the restaurant). There is no room service either. The Graduate on RI is really a gorgeous hotel. But the experience was subpar because of guest services. I really do hope this will change.
Lobby & rooftop bar = great. Every interaction with a human = miserable. Every. Single. One. Valet, front desk, bartenders in the lobby bar, bartenders in the rooftop bar, housekeeping, room service, all of them. Miserable. As we were checking out, I mumbled this is the most miserable hotel I have ever been to under my breath, and some guy standing next to me Ive never met before replied, I hear that, this place is the worst.
Nice place, friendly staff and definitely a top location! Metro station and funicular is a few minutes walk and from there you can easily go everywhere. We had a room with a view of both the Empire State and Crystler Building in Manhattan as well as the Brooklyn skyline. Breakfast was also very tasty. The whole hotel has a thoughtful look full of bookshelves, plants and pop art. All in all a good place to retreat to after a busy day visiting New York. Only negatives were that the room service doesnt come to change towels very often and the air con is incredibly loud (like someone starts drilling in the room next to you)
In the pandemic, I had 5 daily paid at the Roosevelt Hotel. The pandemic came and we dont want to travel. We called to extend the daily rates and sent an email asking for an extension. They simply informed us that we would not be entitled to the daily rates. I thought it was dishonest because we didnt travel because of the pandemic. We werent asking for money back. Im not confirmed I will fight to have my rights

2022-02-19Clean, modern rooms with up to date tech. The decor is a bit quirky with vintage photography - which was not the most settling at night, especially the inmate mugshots in the bathrooms. Great views with large windows and adequate sound proofing between rooms. Bed was really good with smooth linens. Pillows were okay. The lobby could use a bit more space, especially during standard check-in/out times. The staff use really polite service language but do not seem to mean it. Seems to just go with the flow with the barest minimum to get you on with your day. My interactions with the day manager at the front desk really just made me feel like I was such a hassle after asking her 2 questions about the hotel. She was not rude, it just felt like she did not care. Not the most convenient location but still accessible.Recommended for the hardware. Improvements on the heart-ware would make this place a clear 4 to 5 stars.

2022-05-08Why is this the perfect spot?Located on an island there is the subway and the tram to go to Manhattan in 10 min.No traffic noise. The view on the Manhattan skyline and the river is so relaxing. The hotel is amazing, the lobby has a modern look with an extensive builtin shelves with countless books. The reception is welcoming. My room (junior suite) is so nicely decorated and well furnished (king bed).I didnt appreciate to pay $5 for plastic bottle of water when they were not water fountain close by.

2022-04-14This little gem of a restaurant hidden inside the hotel is a ten star venue. Their menu is small, but the food is all fresh and excellently prepared. We met the chef and she is a superstar. World class cuisine. There is also a rooftop bar atop the hotel with an incredible view of Manhattan. They serve rawbar seafood and excellent drinks. There are sofas with tables, many choices to relax and enjoy, and did I mention the view?

2022-02-08My view from my hotel room was gorgeous. The rooftop restaurant could have had more of a variety of food on the menu. Its more of a lounge with appetizers than a restaurant. It was still a great experience. The only issue was we were there during the minor storm so the valet was not available to park cars so we parked ourselves and in the end we were still charged $65 for the service that wasnt provided. Tried to get it waived but the manager denied the request and never came out of the office to explain. Although I enjoyed my stay but that put a sour taste in my mouth and will not return.

2022-03-01This hotel is so cute!!! I love the way they curated this hotel to include pics of Roosevelt, history of the Island and colleges!!! The hospitality from the staff was great. I would definitely stay here again!! There is limited street parking near the hotel. The train station and tram service is not far from the hotel.

2022-06-10The stay was excellent. We stay in the junior suite with am awesome view. For our anniversary, CHARLENY was kind enough to bring us a non alcoholic drink on ice with two glass cups and a note saying Happy Anniversary. It was so thoughtful of her and she should be appreciated as someone who pays attention to details and is a very thoughtful person.

2022-02-15The people who worked there, were incredibly hospitable and nice to me during my time here. I had a late night emergency and needed assistance from the desk, and the two employees I interacted with, Jonathan and Kim, both offered their help as well as their patience in helping me resolve my issue. This hotel most certainly has the best and thoughtful people working for it.

2022-05-23I live on Roosevelt Island and work for Cornell. I needed to vacate my apartment for a day and stayed at the Graduate. I really love the fun decor and obviously the views (I have those even at home!). But I was a little disappointed. Our island is such a tight knit community from lower income housing to luxury condos. Were excited to welcome the Cornell campus. But the staff at the hotel is standoffish and a little elitist (or whatever else you call it, when the lady who greets you at a rooftop bar is feeling way too fancy and too much of a dismissive doorkeeper in a non authentic way). It seems this hotel does not want to engage with us locals at all. On my home island I feel like I dont belong. But I digress - even as just a tourist I would have been a little disappointed. Theres no coffee in the room, no fridge, no microwave. It was a very hot day, and my AC didnt seem to come on. It seems it was only the fan. The receptionist couldnt be bothered to be polite and authentic - it seemed like I was inconveniencing her by checking in. I dont think she even looked at me. On a Monday, breakfast opens at 8. I woke up at 5 and had to wait 3 hours with no coffee. I did later find a makeshift coffee dispenser in the lobby but no decaf or non dairy milk (the latter is just my own need, its not something I really expect to be honest). As a Cornell professor I really want to send my visitors here but its just a little disappointing. And my main concern is that as a Roosevelt Islander, I feel slightly mocked/rejected by the new property on the block. Dont shut us out. The island isnt the same as Manhattan. Were like a small town. We really want to love everything about you, The Graduate, thats who we are as a community. We want to support and call you one of us. Give us a chance to connect!

2022-02-12One of the cleaner hotels that you can ever get in NYC which is relatively spacious. However, it is a quite a hassle to travel over to Mahattan because of the location. If you want somewhere convenient where you can shop and watch Broadway musicals without the commute, this hotel might not be suitable for you.I have been lucky to get a great view from my room, but not everyone has this luck.
