We had such an amazing experience here. Had a late dinner in the tavern and it was fantastic — got the burger, meatloaf, and chicken. The service is really what takes this place to the next level. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, from helping us select the perfect wine to surprising us with a nice off-the-menu dessert for our special occasion. Great vibes, great food.
The food was good, went there for lunch during covid in summer. We wanted a indoor table coz that was a hot day but the AC was just freezing cold in there so we had to move out side. Might come back for dinner coz they seemed to have different room for lunch and dinner and I was told that the dinner vibe is better.
Wow- everything l had was incredible.was in a private room, and the staff tending to us were so accommodating and nice!they accommodated all my food allergies, even going off menu for my first course.the coconut cake dessert was SO good, l have to come back for dessert just to get that again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I haven’t dined inside Gramercy in almost two years because of the pandemic. I was reminded yesterday why it’s still my favorite restaurant in NYC. Ambiance, service, food - all were impeccable - just as I remember. Being back felt like an old friend inviting me over for a meal after a long time away. Gramercy is the only restaurant in NYC that has earned the right to be pretentious, yet is completely grounded and unpretentious. Thank you for continuing to bring me and countless others joy. (Pictured: shrimp brioche with ginger swizzle, grilled summer squash with Spanish clarete, blueberry beignets and lemon cream with cappuccino).
Went for dinner at the Tavern as a group of 4.Shared the oysters / beef tartare / farro salad.Oysters and beef tartare were both 5/5, but the farro salad was a little bland and closer to a 3/5 (but it looked gorgeous!)Burger for my main. Classic carnivore style with no veggies, just beef, beef, and more beef. And bacon and cheese. Minetta’s might win by a hair, but this was still awesome, and one of the best in the city (and perhaps the world).Split a cheesecake for dessert. Didn’t last long. Very very yummy.Overall, a quality dining experience, and even with shared apps and desert, the final bill was still only around $70/person (no drinks). Worthy of a dinner stop.
Gramercy Cavern: delicious food and wonderful experience. We were blown away at the complimentary dishes and complexity of tastes working together. Our waiter Mussaud (sp?) was helpful in his recommendations, careful in his timing, and just a thoughtful host. As their menu rotates, we will definitely be back! I’m already drooling over the shrimp brioche.
The restaurant is split into 2, the front part where they serve the ala carte menu and the dining hall at the back for tasting menu.We went for the tasting menu. It was okay but it did felt a bit underwhelming after all the great reviews we’ve heard. Comparatively to the other tasting menu I’ve had, this seems to be less value for the price.I would however say, the ala carte does looks much more impressive. Managed to eye the plates from the ala cart menu whilst walking to the restroom and every plate I saw looks real good. And the price is very reasonable given the setting, location and service.
We came here for dinner on a friday night in the dinning area. We had the 3 course meal. The waitress was so attentive and wanted to make sure that we have the best experience. So she switched my main course with another item that I liked more. The food was amazing. Everything I had was great. We got an extra appetizer and dessert on the house. It was a great experience and will be back there again.
This place is absolutely amazing and is easily in the top 3 best meals Ive ever eaten. Huge shout out to Toni (and team) for making our anniversary an amazing night. Everything was so good. The rolls were served with a goat cheese butter which was awesome, Ive never had anything like it before. We did a tasting and everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. The ravioli with the pork may have been my favorite. I dont think I was crazy about one of the fish dishes but it was still good. The desserts were killer, I loved the baklava ice cream. The service here is unlike anything Ive ever experienced. They were smooth and orchestrated, like it was a dance. Everything is deliberate and planned to create the best customer experience possible. Its expensive but its worth it for special occasions and cant recommend it enough.
I wanted to bring a friend to a special birthday dinner. Based on all the reviews and research, it seemed Gramercy Tavern was a no brainer. This restaurant did not disappoint. The experience and ambiance were top notch. We chose the prix fixe menus. Each course was unique and beautifully presented. The only criticism is that thst servings are small but that is what you expect for these type of restaurants. Good thing a quick run to McDonalds was planned after dinner as well.Overall, the experience was amazing but not sure I would do it again.
Dont get me wrong. I love this place after coming here for the second time for their tasting menu. I just dont think its worth the price tag anymore. There are just so many other innovative and creative restaurants in the area and Brooklyn.Service is still as always top notch. If you are not use to being always attended to, you might feel a little awkward during dinner. I felt like I have to dine on my best manner. Its not a big deal overall. You can always dine in the walk in section of course or the bar. They dont have fries but so kindly serve up potatoes chip to my young nephew and that keep him pretty calm during the dining. Most of the dishes are amazing and well crafted. I enjoy every dish but not as memorable anymore. Love the fish and lamb thou. They are delicious but I remembered Gramercy used to be memorable. My first time here was for my anniversary and I remember every bite from them servicing is a champagne to celebrate with us. And the duck I had.Overall this is decent on my book but as a newer generation of diner, there are just so many other places.
I had a lovely lunch here recently. I had a special which was monk fish and it was perfectly cooked. Also a tasty salad and a sorbet for dessert. My friend had a vegetarian dish that was good. We had a bottle of Viennese wine - strange request but my friend is going to Vienna and wanted to try it. It was great. The service was excellent. We were seated in the far corner of the restaurant by ourselves but by the time we left the entire restaurant was full. Very pretty place. Noise level was low (my friend always notices if a place is noisy so now Im aware of those things). All in all a lovely lunch.
Really nice and romantic restaurant, nicely decorated, fresh flowers and low music. Friendly hostess and staff, wide selection of wines and craft beer. Was hoping for the tasting menu but they told us only served before 2pm. Still the food was delicious, well done and beautifully presented, as well as the deserts. Kind of wishing to leave a good tip but they have a hospitality included policy. Bathroom were spotless, free WiFi and the tavern was gorgeous. Will definitely return on my next trip to NY to try the tasting menu.
We went to Gramercy Park tavern as a work group and our national sales director took us there as a reward for a year well done. It is a very historic and highly rated place to eat and fairly expensive. We had the three-course meal which consisted of a appetizer style choice followed by main course followed by dessert. I chose the lemon and chicken soup followed by the tilefish followed by the cheese platter. The food was fantastic however being a big eater I thought that the portion amounts we were given did not warrant the meal cost of $200 per person. We did not try the tasting-menu although it had some things that looked very good. The staff was incredible. That is the reason for the four star rating and had there been a larger food quantity I definitely would have given them five stars. The bathrooms were small but clean and they did give us some chocolate truffles for dessert which I failed to get pictures of and some banana bread as a parting gift.If you dont mind paying so much for the meal, this is a great place to eat but reservations are definitely required since it is full of all the time.My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what you expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special and a 5 means you were blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing and a 1-star rating is terrible
Great restaurant to date and celebrate important dates with artistic dining experience. I tried the seasonal menu here and every course was perfect and brought delight to my taste bud. Besides the dishes on the menu, they gave extra surprises before appetizer, pre-dessert and post-dessert. Service was excellent. Overall it was a delightful and satisfying evening. Definitely will come back here again!
It was really lovely to have chef customised the menu for my restricted diet due to allergies. Fine dining with a twist and having Guest Chef Nina around to be fun with the menu was interesting.I was told by the staff that the whole floral arrangements and Deco changes on monthly and festive basis. Nice touch.
Really low-key restaurant, given how high-end it is. Everyone is friendly, there are fresh flower arrangements everywhere throughout, tasteful decor, classy jazz music playing on the sound system. The food is accessible but top-notch, for reasonable prices (still $$$$).We went for lunch, got three courses each, and were out the door for $137. Gratuity is built into the prices, so dont tip!I had an important call that was scheduled at the last minute in the middle of our lunch service, and the staff went out of their way to set me up in a private dining room for that call, then brought our dessert after I was done.Everything about our experience here was perfect.
My friend and I came for lunch during weekdays. Wait staff are nice and warm, very attentive. We ordered 3 course lunch special, which were well done! The ingredients were fresh and had nice twist, beautifully served. We very much enjoyed food, atmosphere, and service. We would definitely come back!! Thank you!!Update: Had another visit with a friend from Japan. The waiter for our table remembered me, and he was also a great sommelier who knows wine well. We had nice lunch with a glass of wine. My friend was very impressed. Excellent food, wine, and service!
Had the opportunity to dine here, unreal experience and will go back in a heart beat to dine. Very good price for the quality of food and craft. The food was fantastic and amazing, well seasoned and cooked to prefect. I forgot about taking notes down to recreate the dish because it was so damn good. Staffs are really nice and knowledgeable of the food and wine. Overall great experience and definitely going back. Thanks for a unreal meal.
Probably one of the best meals Ive ever had. We went for my birthday on a sunday for lunch. There are 2 parts, the tavern and the dining room. Friends had told us the whole point in going to Gramercy Tavern is to do the tasting menu so we made reservations for the dining room. When we saw the tasting menu there was a lot of fish which we have an aversion to but after speaking to our waiter he told us he would speak to the chef to see what she could do. The chef made a custom tasting menu for us and it was amazing. They we so accommodating and not snooty at all about it. They even brought out a surprise dish and cake.Im not a foodie, but I enjoy good food and service which is exactly what youll get. I cant wait to return.
The four of us got the tasting menu for lunch. Signature $89 and Vegetable $79 tasting menus were amazing! First time here, only heard about its greatness, but expectations were exceeded. I feel like I had 5 entrees and 3 desserts, all sized to satisfaction. Quality and taste were exceptional. Must do if youre in Manhattan.
This is a special place deserving of a Michelin star. We decided to try the taster lunch menu and boy was it good. 8 course meal with perfectly paired wine. Not a fan of red wine but Gramercy Tavern managed to convince me. Try the California red wine, less taliny than normal red, more fruity. The pasta was ace as was the salmon, the cheese selection with the port was pretty awesome. Service was excellent. Definitely one for the foodies and fine dining
Awesome service, good wine list, missed more variety of Chile and Spain, not superb list for a Michelin star but ok. The five plates tasting menu was fantastic. Lots of different flavors but nothing super surprising. I would describe the kitchen as very consistent, tasty, fresh but no inventions. Except for the cucumber flavors of the dessert. The place is upscale but dress casual is accepted.
First time having dinner here and the food was exceptional, truly a five star dinning experience I will share with all my friends. The Salmon is simply to die for and they have great cocktails as well. The wait staff are very nice and cater to your every need! This place is a must for anyone visiting New York or you looking for a great place to bring a first date, it will surely impress anyone.
We went in for a quick meal before theatre, and we were treated to quite the experience in such small time frame. The food was stunningly good. I looked at the sea bass and thought this was not going to go well and u couldnt have been more wrong. Not only was it packing fresh clean flavors it was amazingly light and easy on your stomach. Amazing dish. The service was outstanding and we were treated to a great lunch thanks to our brilliantly gracious waitress. Thank you for making it special.
This is our go to restaurant for special occasions as a couple in the city for years. We always have the seasonal tasting menu, and sometimes even opt for the vegetarian meal even though we are not vegetarian so this review of food only reflects that menu. The food is always excellent, interesting, well presented and paced well. There are usually 3 seafood courses, 1 of which includes a pasta, followed by a meat and dessert. This visit included a ceviche dish of fluke with apple and kohl rabbi, halibut with cannellini beans and kale, squid ink pasta with lobster, duck and an apple sorbet palette cleanser followed by a delicious and light vanilla yogurt mousse with pomegranate sauce that I found just a little too sweet. Because it was my birthday, they also brought out a coconut cake which was also nice. The deceivingly small portions add up and we are always full at the end. We enjoy eating out at places that challenge us to be more creative chefs at home and this place has expanded our palette and cooking. We never leave feeling I could have done this at home. The service is also professional and attentive without being overly stuffy. The wine pairings complement the meal and the cocktails are always interesting.
One of our top restaurant experiences! We recently read about this restaurant in Culture Code, a book about how you create great teams and the team at Gramercy Tavern definitely exceeded our expectations. The service was top notch, starting with the phone calls as soon as our reservations were made, to the table service on the night of our meal. All of the food were amazing but you MUST try their whole wheat bread, which is like biting into a butter filled cloud. The second must-have is their Smoked Trout appetizer, it will redefine what you think fish can taste like. A 9.99/10!!
Unbelievably excellent service and food! Plus, it is a Hospitality Included restaurant. The servers are super friendly and attentive. The tasting menu is the best. The desserts are simply sublime. We tried three Michelin 1 star restaurants on this trip in NYC in 24 hours. Gramercy Tavern takes the crown hands down! Its the best even compared to other Michelin 1 or 2 stars in the world that we have tried, e.g. Tokyo and Shanghai. We are in love with this restaurant!
The process one goes through, of full immersion into someones culinary philosophy, carefully planned and presented accurately - this is what can expected here.Attention to details is remarkable, with small surprises on the way, even after desert.I was pleasantly surprised to see the statement on the bill that no additional gratuity is required. The only thing I could complain about was the switch between waiters during the meal which was performed pretty awkwardly, although that did not interfere with the general experience.
Gramercy Tavern is one of the finest restaurants I have been to. Yes it is expensive. $134.00 for a fixed price three course meal and $189.00 for a five course meal. Both include the tip. No tipping means you get excellent service and help choosing your courses from a wide variety creative and good tasting dishes. Our waitress, Toni, has 14 years experience at Gramercy and complete command of the menu. She and the rest of the staff were superb. Clearly each course was precisely assembled from fresh ingredients. Aventuresome Yum!
We were able to have lunch at Gramercy Tavern during a recent visit to NYC and left very impressed with our experience. This was simply put - the best meal of our week in the city.Note: Gramercy Tavern has two separate dining areas. The Dining Room is a more formal setting for which reservations can be made. The Tavern is more casual seating for walk-in patrons, this is where we took our lunch. Opening hours 11.30am to 11pm (Mon-Fri) and 11.30am to 12am (Sat-Sun).We arrived around 11.20am during midweek. A short queue awaited as Gramercy opened promptly at 11.30am. We were immediately seated at one of the nice sofa tables. The dining area filled up with other diners in the next 20 minutes or so.Staff were professional, natural and informative throughout our meal. Tavern decor is modern with tasteful art an colour scheme, mixed with plants and greenery. The tavern fills with natural light during midday, making the seating area very attractive during the lunch period. Before our meal, we enjoyed cocktails made at the bar, finding the Little Bird to be a friendly and delicious drink and the Empire Special to be a smooth old-fashioned drink. While drinks were very good, food served up was delicious. We tried the Tavern Burger, perfectly grilled at medium-rare temperature. Beef patty was seasoned nicely, topped with a delicious slice of cheese and bacon. Served with a few crisps, this was a great burger and easy lunch time recommendation for those interested in dining at Gramercy Tavern. We also tried the Pork Belly, finding this to be outstanding. Pork was served on the bone, meat was succulent and very flavourful. Topped with a bit of hot chile sauce and tasted outstanding. Side of kale was surprisingly tasteful, complementing the pork belly vey well. Similar to the burger, this was a delicious main, one we would happily reorder again. For dessert we tried the Chocolate Pudding Cake served buttered pecans and smooth coconut ice-cream. The dessert was as attractive as it was delicious, another winner at Gramercy Tavern. In the end, we were very impressed with our meal at Gramercy Tavern. Nothing felt forced or pretentious. They are just really good at what they do. This was a great meal, one we look forward to experiencing again during future trips to NYC.
My wife and I came to New York City to celebrate our 10th anniversary and this restaurant was one of the places we were really most excited about. It did not disappoint. We chose to forgo the tasting menu and ate in the tavern. Still a really great menu to eat off of and much cheaper. Service is top-notch and the food was Exquisite. We had a seat near the grill so we could enjoy watching the chef prepare. It was an overall wonderful experience and its easy to see why this restaurant is so highly rated!
One of the best dining experiences youll have. Amazing food, amazing desserts, and amazing service. This will set you back a few hundred percent person, but it is well worth the cost. Completely emmersive fine dining. If you have the opportunity to go, definitely go. And enjoy. And appreciate what food should be.
Food and carrier had been genuinely on point for what I might anticipate from right here. I had ordered the sea bass while my friend ordered the roasted chicken that become on unique. Food turned into outstanding and we split the cookie desert to close off. Wonderful presentation and first-rate flavor of all the items we ordered.
From the moment I entered, i was excited to be here. I sat near the window in a lounge chair dining at a table garnished with a personal garden of small blooms and rosemary. Cant have cheese for the week so Kevin made sure I had the salted wheat biscuit, YUM! I had a perfectly-salted fish bite on a wafer to begin. Water was served in branded glass bottles and left (and refilled) at the table upon request. I enjoyed the char salad, light, bright & delish, similar in appearance and mouth feel to salmon. I enjoyed my beet salad the most. It was a feast for the eyes of magenta and grassy greens with a touch of mint to punch up the flavor bouquet. The duck Andouille sausage with grits & peaches, expected but unexpected. Kevin shared that the establishment uses locally-sourced food, shopping at the farmers market several blocks away, and their own butchery team (I believe). I completed the experience with the Lavender custard with berries (very creme brûlée, which, is my FAVE non-chocolate dessert). In short, the flavor-texture combo made my mouth happy. Treat yourself if youre in the area!
Everything was delicious. The grilled calamari perfect and Wagyu meatloaf hits the spot. If you like goat meat then you’d like the goat meatballs. You can expect to have top notch service. Although it seemed like our waiter was in training! These guys are on the ball when to comes to keeping your water glass filled and offering you bread. I will be back for the tasting menu. The only thing that was kind of missing for me was some sense of organization with the ambiance. It just seemed really hectic with the bar and people running back and forth in the Tavern.
Came here tonight for dinner with my husband and the service is very attentive, I have no complaints the bartender Emmanuel serviced us as we waited for our table he offered us a taste of rose and moscato. It was nice to be noticed because we were standing in the back and not seated at the bar. Once we were seated for dinner our waiter Mike and his assist I believe his name was Harry I could be wrong but they were so elegant and attentive. Mike gave helpful recommendations we had the smoked trout, swordfish, chicken and tomato soup..our dinner went smoothly I left full and happy. Its nice to have restaurants like this provide amazing service should definitely be 2 stars at least for Michelin rated.
The food was amazing. The thing that stood out the most was the kind and friendly staff, who after our meal, gave us a tour of the kitchen and we got a photo with all of the chefs, cooks, and our waiter. I would highly recommend this restaurant. In addition, the drink menu was awesome. I dont drink alcohol and they had a great selection of options for me including a housemade GT Kola that was amazing. An absolute MUST TRY in New York.
A great fine dining experience. Had tasting menu paired with wine. Every dish was full of flavor and made sense with the season. Hospitality is top notch. Did not experience the tavern area but seems more like a chill area. This dining experience is worth while to have once in a while. Definitely wont be a regular because it is out of my price range but nevertheless a great experience.
A well appointed bar tavern in the front which is noisy and crowded. Behind a velvet draped is the formal dining area. Much more quiet to enjoy your dinner. The wait service was prompt and attentive. The sommelier was helpful with the selection of wines. We order the pre-set menu 5 main dishes and 2 desserts. Surprisingly it was plentiful. The meal was delightful, the meat dish was on the salty side. Otherwise, every other dishes was season well. Pleasing to the eyes too. Great place to bring clients but be prepared to pay a hefty bill in the end.
I recently dined at Gramercy Tavern and I was extremely disappointed.I booked my reservation through Open Table and the day before my reservation, I received a cancellation email and the reservation was canelled by Gramercy Tavern. I called the restaurant and was told that it was cancelled as I did not answer the reservation confirmation call. However, I did not received any calls from Gramercy Tavern. I was able to re-book the reservation for the same date/time.Service was great. The ambiance was great. I had high hopes for this place as I saw fantastic reviews online and its a one Michelin starred restaurant. But I didnt enjoy the food at all. The only thing my fried and I enjoyed was the bread. We ordered lamb ravioli, beef tartare, pork loin, and lamb loin & shoulder.Beef tartare - bland. Only redeeming quality was that it was different from the traditional beef tartare with cubes of vegetables and mango? However, the beef lacked flavour.Lamb Ravioli - Lamb was way too salty and I couldnt taste anything other than the saltinessPork loin - too dry. What a waste of the meat. Initially the server asked us if we want medium rare. Given this is a pork dish we went for medium but I wish the sever had warned us how dry the dish will be. I had amazing pork steaks in Spain and I was expecting something similar.Lamb - bland but the sauce was too overpowering. It was too dry or overcooked.Perhaps we shouldve ordered seafood instead. Both of us did not want to ruin our lunch so we did not complain but it was really unfortunate given we were expecting great experience from this restaurant.
Really great staff, service and food. We had ordered the fluke, the shrimp, the sea bass, and the steak tartare. (really good) Their angel bread was delicious and comes with a goat cheese spread. I could have eaten that as the meal itself, it was probably my favorite thing about the entire dinnOn a side note for those who drive by car to get here: when we had arrived we had asked the Gramercy staff where we could park. They had said that there was an icon parking and if they stamp the receipt wed get a discount.
We ate at the tavern on Saturday night and the wait was quoted for one and half hours but they called us back in 15 minutes. The food and drinks were amazing, but the presentation of the chocolate pudding cake was lacking arriving in a cereal bowl that you could find in any home, small detail and taste was amazing, I was just surprised. During the meal my wine glass went empty and was never refilled by the staff, I ended up filling it after ten minutes. Once we were done with our bottle no one asked if we wanted another drink they just took our glasses, seems like a missed opportunity.
This place was in my list. I did it for a lunch. Their lunch menu is differebt then the diner menu. We’ll come back for sure for a dinner to have the tasting menu! It is usually booked so don’t sure if you can walk in for a dinner. The place is beautiful, the people are really friendşy and the food is amazing! :)
Quite simply one of the top ten dinners I have ever had. The service was warm, friendly and accommodating. There is a lot of action happening on the floor. The food marches forward and the perfect clip if you need to make a show (an issue at other restaurants of this caliber)The mocktails are fully crafted with the freshest ingredients. The steak tartare had a slight heat to it with citrus. I order steak tartare often and theres is not to be missed. From the polenta with mushrooms to the pork loin, to the goat cheese butter everything was amazing. Skip any place that would conflict with eating at this fine, friendly Michelin rated shooting star.
We ordered the mushroom lasagna from Gramercy Tavern for dinner last night and it was TERRIBLE! It was mostly crusty brown pasta edges (see pic - and note, thats taken directly from looking down at it). And what filling there was, was dry and flavorless, with just an aftertaste of dried (not fresh) shiitakes. This was not the quality one should be able to count on from them. Weve had hit or miss experiences with them since COVID hit. I think were done.
I left hungry. Apparently Gramercy Tavern doesnt understand food allergies very well. It was a situation where they took things off my plate that I couldnt eat, but failed to replace them with something I could eat. (Simply look at the pictures) As a result, i had to go out and eat again after this lunch. In todays day and age, this is not forgivable. PS: they were given full details of my eating restrictions before I arrived, so there were no surprises.
I went to Gramercy Tavern on Boxing Day, and it was packed. I don’t know if this is because of Boxing Day, or if it is usually like this. When you walk in, you are greeted by the cheerful staff, and you see a warm, lovely atmosphere that I really liked. There is a good balance between the music and the conversations that you hear all around you. The ambience was like the ambience in any other Danny Myers restaurant. When I was seated, I immediately took into notice the decor on the tables. There were nice roses, and the seats looked very comfortable and clean. Then I sat on my seat. The lovely leather of the seat felt great, and it was very relaxing. I ordered the Shirley Temple, and when it came, I loved it. It tasted lovely and sweet, and it was nice and refreshing. To eat, I ordered the sausage. It was a good German sausage, that was stuffed with cheese. Very nice and unique. The sausage reminded me of a sausage that I had on the other side of the world, in London. It was very filling, and it tasted great. The cheese plate was also very good. You could choose from a variety of cheeses, from hard cheeses to soft cheeses and sheep cheeses to cow cheeses. I got the Camembert, the Tête de Moine, and the Brebirousse. They were all very nice, but I especially recommend the Brebirousse. The Brebirousse is a soft sheep cheese. The service was also very nice. They were very kind and joyful. They did there job well.
This place has been on our NYC restaurant list for a long time. We made a booking 6 weeks in advance as we were flying in from London. The service was attentive and the tavern area is very cosy. We ordered the brick chicken, tavern burger and apple pie sundae, however unfortunately the food didnt meet our expectations. The tavern burger was too salty and should really come with fries and not chips for $32. The brick chicken was okay but is too much of the same thing. It needs more sides and balance.
We arrived about 5 min after our reservation, and after coat check, we were led to our seats right away in the Dining Room (a la carte lunch menu). Our server was lovely and recommended the Blackfish, which I orderedThe Fall Classic cocktail was delicious. A little sweet and deceivingly strong! It paired well with lunch. If youre a fan of seafood, you have to order the scallops and Blackfish. The scallops literally melted so easily in my mouth--so sad that there was only three pieces! The Blackfish was also great--didnt necessarily melt in the same way as the scallops, but it was light and cooked perfectly. We ordered the caramelized cheesecake for dessert, which we devoured pretty quickly because it was that good.
A beautiful place to dine that uses quality ingredients, implementing a farm-to-table ideology in their food.During my last visit I had the pleasure of having their tasting menu. Some dishes were superb, such as the shrimp with sea urchin. Most note-worthy was the arctic char with cauliflower, apples and chiles which had great flavour and balance.Unfortunately at the end of the meal the dessert werent quite on the same level as the other dishes. However it was overall still a great dining experience.Service during the evening was attentive and relaxed.
$410 for two people without beverage and We thought it was a good value. From beginning to end the experience was exceptional. The service was exceptional, the food was exquisitely prepared with flavors and subtle nuances that are hard to describe. I posed a question to our server regarding the intricacies of the kitchen staff and she offered to have the manager give us a tour of the kitchen which we happily accepted. We had a long conversation with the chef owner and he was genuinely interested in our experience and was very appreciative of our patronage. Which he obviously didn’t have to care about because the entire restaurant was packed on a Tuesday evening. Definitely don’t miss this special experience when in New York City.
I’ve been here before and it was amazing. Great food and even better service. This time -minus 1 star for the service. Skipped over me when Ordering drinks. We were a table of 6 and he did 3 people, skipped over me and went to the person next to me. Not freaking out about it but it was really weird. Food was still amazing!
The bread is amazing ... I would pay for it. The Flatbread was burnt and the burger was not prepared to my instructions.Id prefer a restaurant say we only cook our food one way (e.g. state we cook steak at medium rare only, rather than ask you how you want it prepared, have you wait a long time, then give you medium rare even though you asked for a medium cook. Then they say oh theyll take it back. Who wants to have the same burger reheated after you prepped it with your condiments etc and took a good sized bite out of it...Sigh, restaurants gotta do better.
This was by far the nicest meal Ive ever had the pleasure of enjoying. We did the seasonal tasting menu with associated wine pairing. At the end we were so satisfied by each course and pairing.Ultimately, we couldnt leave without having the burger so the staff was kind enough to let us share the burger across the three of us as a sort of encore.Spectacular.
Normally my favorite burger in the city but this time both the burger and chips were far too salty. The individual sitting next to us agreed that his dish was saltier than usual too.Our server Wilson was the saving grace. He provided great service and made wonderful drinks.Would be five stars if it were not for the quality of the food this visit.
This is probably my favorite restaurant in NYC and thats saying a lot. They have amazing cocktails and a tavern area which is first come first serve. Here they serve a la carte options like the famous burger and a rotating seasonal menu. They also have a formal Michelin starred dining room that has a Prix fixe dining option. Service in both areas of the restaurant is 5 star and I make it a point to visit every time Im in the area.
If you could give restaurants six stars, I would give it that. The bread they served was obviously fresh and tasted very good. The staff was very professional and very polite. The entre I ordered was the Arctic Char, and it was well done. The skin on the fish was crispy while the meat was soft and tender. I have never had fish as good as this. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who considers them self a foodie.

Service in both areas of the restaurant is 5 star and I make it a point to visit every time Im in the area.
Fantastic restaurant in NYC. I love the tavern side (in pictures) with more informal dining and less pricey (but of same standard and food quality as the formal restaurant). Service is superb. I had there some of my most memorable meals in NY. Only note you cannot reserve seats in the tavern side of the restaurant so try to go at odd times to avoid queuing.
Outstanding food and excellent service. The restaurant is divided between the prix fix dining room and the ala cart tavern area. The former requires a reservation placed well in advance, while the latter allows for walk-in diners. We were told the wait would be approximately 90 minutes for the tavern, but they texted us only 30 minutes later on a Saturday evening. The food is simply amazing. I have eaten in the dining room and the tavern, and both were incredible. On our most recent visit, you we started with lamb tare tare and pumpkin flat bread with ham and greens, both of which were good enough to interrupt our conversation. The pork ribs, sea bass, and polenta that followed were incredible. The chocolate cake dessert topped it all off. Each dish surpasses the next. This is one of the best restaurants in the world, and they have a Michelin star to prove it. However, while the staff was exceedingly friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help, their attention to a couple of minor details stood out that are possibly the reason for the lack of a second star. Michelin might take away a star for those things, but overall this is a restaurant that Im happy to keep coming back to on special occasions, with food and service that is on the level of the top restaurants anywhere.
Expect a truly fine dine experience. We were lucky to get a table on arrival as this place is extremely busy. Menu card was a spartan three page with appetizers entrees and desserts. Food options were eclectic. Service was seamless and smooth as a zephyr. Sommelier recommended a wine created for the restaurant and that red did not disappoint.Tried the wagyu beef meatballs and they were out of the world. Someone else tried the brick pressed chicken and they were impressed as well. Pumpkin beignets with ricotta and jam definitely hits the sweet spot. You may try the eggnog too in small cutesy mason jars. Overall - definitely five star if not more. 👍
No surprise the restaurant has a Michelin star - it possesses all qualities for that. Service, interior, food strike high scores. Yet, it is even pricier than this type of restaurants at the finest European resorts. Vegetable ingredients are of exceptional taste. Lamb is juicy, youll savor the flavor. My personal preference is less salt in tomato salad and less finical communication style. Isnt it great to enjoy finest food at ease? :)
Amazing dining experience! The atmosphere is welcoming and nicely furnished. The customer service was great, Hannah was very helpful in picking out our entrees and knew exactly what she was talking about. Not to mention the food was amazing. Already scheduled a reservation for my birthday in January haha. Highly recommended for special events or just a night out.
Excellent food and service here. The tasting menu is well put together, flavorful, and well executed. Only reason its not 5 stars is because they forgot the birthday occasion we discussed twice during the reservation and confirmation and because it took almost 20-30 minutes to get seated even though I showed up on time.
Gramercy Tavern sounds like an old-fashioned beer hall, maybe one with a jar of pickled eggs on the bar. But it is in fact a top-drawer outpost of restauranteur Danny Myers, and its delights are many. A large space that is subtly divided, the Gramercy is handsome and comfortable in classic ways mixed with well-chosen innovations such as unexpected color schemes and ceiling edgings. I liked sitting in the place, even before the celebrated cuisine began arriving. The service was flawless and the no-tipping practice at Gramercy added to the feeling of hospitality.LOO REVIEW: An upmarket men’s room whose stalls shelter users with fully framed wood doors and polished locks that audibly and reassuringly snap closed. Sinks and flooring are marble. No tips jar, naturally. Hand towels are cloth and rolled and would make better souvenirs, if embossed.
Memorable, but not in a good way.It is a shame that what could have been an almost perfect dinner ended up being almost a disaster. The good: The food selection. You can tell there is a master mind behind the menu. The bad: The wine pairing and an overacting hostess. Both unnecessarily sweet. The ugly: For a $500 dinner you may not expect perfection, but attention to detail is a must. And that was not the case with my Ricotta Ravioli stuffed with a plastic piece as a big as a spoon. They took it to the kitchen, came back and explained that they found it was part of the lid of the ricotta container, and that a discount will be applied at the end of the night to compensate the choking hazard.Did I mention attention to detail? They forgot about the discount, of course.
3 stars and not sure if I’m too generous. There are 2 areas. One which is informal and serving nice comfort food, and another one which is a more formal and serving a tasting menu. I went to the later. Overall was quite disappointing from what is expected from a Michelin rated restaurant.I believe that the concept was about producing a menu from local sources products.FOODNot surprising, not specially good, not really a thing. Was very basic. Whenever I can cook myself whatever is on the plate, is not worth the price.WINEYou can have a wine pairing with the menu. (I believe the price tag was around 75$). Just don’t do it... unless you like the cider.PRICE500+$ for 2 with the tip included. Is not worth the price at all... really over valued.
We had a tasting course for two on November 9th. Our server Mike was the most arrogant waiter I’ve seen in 20 years dining in New York city. He was upset that I was shooting a video of my food “while he was talking”. None of his body part was shown in my less than 30 seconds-long-video, but he made it loud and clear that he didn’t want his voice to appear in my video which I was filming for my memories with my friend visiting from out of town.Is that the restaurant policy or his policy? The service for rest of the night was very pretentious and rushed. To top it all off, when we asked for the check he brought the check and split the bill on his mobile POS. My friend was treating me for dinner and NOBODY asked him to split the bill.My friend selected the 20% tip as he stood there watching her, then when she inserted the card again for the second half, HE QUICKLY PRESSED 20% HIMSELF this time. He literally tipped himself and thanked her.I’m seeing more and more waiters using mobile POS at the table these days, but never seen this kind of manner and NO ONE ever charged a split bill without a request in any restaurants ever.Guess it was his tactics to make the total number look smaller to get more tip? I would never know what that was about, but it was petty and unheard of. Definitely not what I expected at a place like Gramercy Tavern. Usually I’d post pictures/videos of food on Instagram but this time I didn’t because I only want to promote positive experiences. Too bad because the food was pretty good.
If you are looking for an amazing dining experience this is a great choice. Can’t say enough about the food and service but I will try. We were so indecisive on which menu to choose and what bottle of wine to get, and then came Carrie and Steven (sommelier) to the rescue. They created a completely customized experience for us based on what we wanted to spend on a bottle. Steven paired some of the most interesting wines we’ve ever tasted and went so perfectly with each course. Standouts were the black bass and the beef tartare. Try the Greek orange wine!
1st time back since the pandemic began and it didnt disappoint. Wound up dining outdoors for the Tavern because it was a beautiful night. Our waiter hooked us up after a little snag with our 1st course which was greatly appreciated. He was fantastic and we really had some fun banter. Food was top notch as always.
Really great staff, service and food. We had ordered the fluke, the shrimp, the sea bass, and the steak tartare. (really good) Their angel bread was delicious and comes with a goat cheese spread. I could have eaten that as the meal itself, it was probably my favorite thing about the entire dinn
I had the best hamburger of my life here. The desserts were over the top and service was impeccable. Love the ambiance - all a perfect dining experience!! Mama Catherine was amazing and so caring! I highly recommend this place!!! Everyone works so hard to exceed customer expectations!!
I Had dinner here recently with some clients for the holidays and the tasting menu, drinks and service was excellent. The staff was very accommodating and my clients had a great experience. Thank you and happy holidays. The bar area is very spacious and the bartender makes good drinks as well.
This is the epitome of a dining experience. If you are going just for the food then be prepared to be blown away by everything else. They should call the wait staff guides as our waitress, Carrie, really helped customize our experience. Carrie worked with Steven, the sommelier, to elevated our experience to another level. Steven took the time to talk to us and figure out exactly what we were looking for.
We came here to celebrate my birthday and had the best time! Of course the food is amazing. There was a pasta with duck that was delicious, and a tile grilled fish. We loved their version of Peach Melba. And I asked for a Pimms Cup, which they were able to whip up. Thank you for a lovely evening!
One of Americas most beloved restaurants, Gramercy Tavern has welcomed guests to enjoy its contemporary American cuisine, warm hospitality, and unparalleled service for over two decades. Chef Michael Anthonys ever-evolving seasonal menu showcases the restaurants relationships with local farms and purveyors.Opened in 1994 by restaurateur Danny Meyer in a historic landmark building, the restaurant has earned nine James Beard Awards, including Outstanding Restaurant and Outstanding Chef in America
We were looking for New York’s best burger and chose Gramercy Tavern based on online reviews. It was the best food we have had in NYC. The burger, medium rare as per the chef’s recommendation, was super delicious and juicy! We also had the carrot soup, the oysters, the brick pressed chicken and two desserts, all of which were amazing with such a unique flavor. We can’t recommend it highly enough! We will definitely be back.
If you are looking for a fine dining experience in NYC this is the place for you. Highly recommend their tasting menu with a wine pairing. Every serving was phenomenal and very well paired with wine. The price is well worth the experience. It’s definitely one of my favorite Michelin star restaurants in the city.
New York’s fine dining with a homey vibeIf you’ve been looking for a fine dining experience but have been fearful of a snooty Vibe give Gramercy Tavern a shot. The staff is professional yet personable, the food is always exquisite, and they’re able to accommodate a variety of diets (their vegan tasting menu has always been incredible)Don’t want to splash out for a tasting? Go a la carte. There’s always something delish on the menu and of course if you ask nice early enough in the day you might get to try New York’s best (??) burger. Shhhhhh. I didn’t tell you ;)
This restaurant is one of my favorites in the area. All of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The interior decor is captivating and inviting, and the food here is exceptional. The service and ambiance combined with their delicious menu make an enjoyable experience from start to finish. I highly recommend this restaurant.
A hidden gem in the Gramercy area. Absolutely wonderful bar and dining roomThe only gripe I have is with the Scotch. Ardveg Ten, Talisker 10 and Glenfarclas 12 are their best. Thats sad. An upscale place like this can do much better. Maybe the Talisker 18 and Glenfarclas 25 for starters. The Ardbeg Ten is fine for a peat monster
I ordered the Gramercy burgers for Mother’s Day off of Gold Belly. They were absolutely wonderful! Packaged perfectly and were huge and absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to visit this restaurant in person. Until then, I’ll definitely be back for more Gramercy delights via delivery!
Went there for the famous burger. Was supposed to be medium rare, was served more medium well. Got also fries which was a mistake. Everything was more salty than it needed to be. Really muted the excellent bottle of champagne we ordered. Service was good, bit could have been better if they had warned us about how salty everything together would be. Not sure it should be on anyones must go list.
I really love this place. I went with my mom and my mom also really loved every dish. The service was amazing and especially I love the vibes here. Gramercy Tavern is a perfect place for family dinner, holidays and bday - any special occasions! Their prix fixe is awesome. I tried the vegetarian one and my mom tried the regular and we both enjoyed all the food! Make reservations for your special day!! you’ll never regret! Give it a try! Highly recommend!!
We booked this restaurant well in advance and Im glad that it lived up to its reviews. The restaurant is busy but we sat at a large table with plenty of space between us and other patrons. The service is excellent and the staff are attentive and friendly. We had extremely tasty food and enjoyed the fact that the tip is included in the bill. The wine menu is extensive with a good selection. We would love to return!
The food here is so delicious! We came for my brothers birthday dinner right after they reopened the indoor seating. Great service, same great restaurant. Will definitely be back to experience the delightful atmosphere, great service, and lovely but slightly expensive food.
A tad on the pricier side, but well worth it. Ive been to the tavern twice now and had 2 excellent meals. Waiters are knowledgeable of their menu and drinks & service is friendly and warm. The food is really quite good & they have some vegetarian-friendly options. Do keep some space for dessert, theyre really quite delicious!
This was a fantastic dinner to celebrate mothers day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered seasonal tasting menu, and loved it. All dishes were beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. It was my first time experiencing a non-tipping restaurant, but liked it. Hopefully, everyone who works there likes this as well. Im definitely coming back.
Food:Beautiful presentation and outstanding quality.Wine:Very good! Definitely recommend the wine pairing! They picked a great selection to accompany the meal. Knowledgeable sommelier.Service:Good. Friendly, professional staff. A bit slower / less attentive compared to other Michelin starred restaurants but good overall.Ambiance:Sophisticated, warm, cozy-chic decor. Not too noisy. Comfortable.Would definitely come back!
This restaurant did not disappoint. Chose the 3 course set menu, which was excellent. Locally sourced foods and clearly made and served with passion. We wanted a local wine and the recommendation was really great (and as it happens the least pricey) The staff were very welcoming and really looked after us, in fact they gave me a specially made birthday cake! I see the comments about the price, however, New York is one of the more expensive cities, there’s no getting away from it, particularly with exchange rates as they are. Don’t let it put you off. Superb experience thank you.
Had dinner for NYE. Maybe my expectations were lofty but I think they should be for a Michelin star restaurant in NYC. I came out very underwhelmed by the product put out on the culinary side. We had the tasting menu paired with wines. The pairings were fair. I had an issue transitioning my pallet from dish to dish. There was a ton of seafood and each bite was inconsistent. The flavor was left to be desired for a restaurant of such caliber. Am I being picky? Definitely. But when you pay $500+ for 2 people I think that is beyond fair. I spoke to my taxi driver about the experience and he picks up a lot of people from GT and he said hes noticed the fall from grace based off customer reviews. Staff was great. Atmosphere also great.
This review is for the casual tavern menu, not the prix fix (there are 2 menus, tavern /bar menu is walk-in only, prix fix you can reserve online). The Michelin star I believe is for the prix fix menu.Food: 4-5 (depending on what you order)Service: 6 (even more impressive considering it’s a no tip restaurant)The service is wonderful, have been here on multiple occasions and all the servers have been friendly, attentive and set a strong standard for what restaurant service should look like. In terms of recent meals, the desserts were the best parts of our meals, and there were some stand out dishes like the marinated flake starter, burger or surprisingly the chicken (the fish and the meatballs were ok). Worth going, be prepared to wait during busy hours.
First time ever at this place. I now know why it has a near 5 star rating. I ordered the Striped Bass. The peppers were perfect, the squash was amazing. The food there was top notch quality paired with top notch service. Absolutely incredible. One of my new favorite places! Keep up the good work!.
Fantastic food and service in a fairly relaxed atmosphere. We had lunch on a weekday and it was a good mix of business and casual diners ,Gramercy Tavern has to be of New York Citys best and most dependable restaurants. Our recent dinner was a wedding rehearsal dinner in a private room. We had a delightful husband and wife server team who brightened up the evening. The food was excellent start to finish. Dealing with the restaurant management in arranging the event was a joy. It is expensive, but unquestionably worth it.
We went here to grab a cocktail. Placed was packed! Hostess was friendly and welcoming. We went to the bar, which was 2 deep, bartender greeted us immediately. Took our order and was efficient in execution. Asked my name for a tab and he relayed it to the other bartender when he was taking our next order, great touch considering it was mobbed. Great experience we’ll be back for dinner next time.
One of the restaurant on my list while visiting NYC is Gramercy Tavern, and finally me and my family had a chance to experience the delicacy of the food here.As soon as I arrived in the restaurant, I felt a warm welcome from all the staffs. The tavern itself was cozy and comfortable, well decorated, and such a proper dining place.I was here with 2 kids, and unbelievably this restaurant is a kid friendly. They both and we were all very satisfied with the taste, service, and also the no-tipping fixed price system. Very recommended.
I had a phenomenal experience at the Tavern. The ambience, AMAZING. Went here for an anniversary dinner and was not disappointed. They gave us complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate. The pre fixe menu is very solid, and tip is included in the cost of the meal. Appetizers were filling, we each had a fish dish for our mains that was phenomenal, and they provided another complementary cake that said Happy Anniversary on it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

2022-02-26We had the 5 course seasonal tasting menu. Food was great and service was excellent. The seating by the bar area was really loud but luckily we got a table all the way in the back which was much quieter and better for conversation.Overall we had a great dinner.

2022-02-22Food was incredible and delicious. I loved everything we ordered! The burger is to die for.The tavern is really loud though, you kind of need to scream across your table to have a conversation.

2021-12-10Burger was our favorite it’s just sooooo juicy! The dessert was a very close second. It was a caramelized cheesecake with mandarin sorbet and it was delicious. I didn’t get the cocktails but they were all delicious. We sat outside and it was such a beautiful night in a lovely neighborhood. Great date night place

2021-08-31Service was phenomenal, but I dont expect anything less at Gramercy. I have heard about their excellence of food and service.Went with a group of 5 and was able to try most of the appetizers and desserts. The entree was delightful, didnt know a carrot could be so sweet. Skirt steak was very tender and cooked well. Duck pasta was a surprise and a lot lighter then you would think.Great place to go for groups or date night.

2021-12-26(12/19/2021) A LOVELY experience every time we visit. We have been visiting Gramercy Tavern for the past 20 years and they never disappoint. From grabbing a glass of wine at the bar or chowing down on Roasted Oysters and Beef Tartare, the ambience and the service is second to none! Its always a MUST VISIT when we fly in from Seattle, and we typically visit more than once during our time in town. We already cant wait to return !!

2021-09-04Delicious! We sat in the dining room for the tasting menu ($148/pp). The meal was well balanced and flavorful. While everything was delicious, the dessert course was perhaps my unexpected favorite. Great for a special date night or business dinner

2021-12-13Enjoyed a tasting menu this past Saturday. We were very much looking forward to it after reading reviews and a friend from NY recommended it. We were fortunate to get a reservation when it opened up for our weekend visit to NY. We enjoyed every moment of the experience. The food was delicious of course and the service was impeccable. The staff was very attentive and made some great recommendations. Mike was our main server but we had several other who attended to us. We really enjoy our time there and would definitely go back when we are in the city. Thank you Gramercy Tavern for a lovely evening. We needed it.

2021-09-16We ordered the pre fix tasting menu in the Dining Room. We opted not for the pairing because that would have been too much alcohol. Not cheap. Good flavor on all food. Funny that my favorite was the bread. Dont be afraid to ask for more.

2021-09-10Gramercy Tavern checks off every box for me. The service, drinks, and food were all very solid. I have no complaints at all, to be honest. From drinks to food items, our waitress was knowledgeable about each menu item. If I had to recommend anything from the menu it would certainly be the oysters and the steak. The cheesecake that I had was good, but it didn’t stand out like the rest of the meal did.

2021-12-09This tavern is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink with friends or to enjoy a delicious meal at the table.Staff is very kind, polite, professional. The kitchen worked to meet my need of lactose free meals, and somehow prepared a salad that was simply, the best salad ever.Pasta was al dente, very tasty.Absolutely recommended.
