Not only do I work at this beautiful facility but both my grandmother and my husbands grandmother stayed here for short term rehab. They were so impressed with our kind and caring staff. They loved being close to the ocean and truly loved their experience. As their granddaughter I was thrilled that they had such a positive experience at our rehab facility. Thank gd they are both strong and healthy and are able to refer it to all their friends who need short term rehab!
My father had to be in this facility for a period of time in need of good care and physical therapy. The staff was absolutely amazing, they were caring, considerate and their for all his needs as well as being available to answer any questions that we may have had as a family. My father left Grandell feeling much better and in good spirits. THANK YOU GRANDELL!!!!
The Grandell Rehab and Nursing Center has unique qualities about it. Firstly, the PT and OT are of the highest professional quality. In my situation this was critical for my full recovery after major back surgery. Clearly that department is of first-class qualityThe Nursing staff were careful to custom cut the quality care for me as I had numerous issues to handle and they were all addressed with the utmost care. It seemed to me that Grandell only uses experienced and well-educated nurses. The aids/ nurses assistants help the residence in personal areas with a sense of dignity and cheer. The dietary issues of each patient is handled by a staff of the head dietician and numerous assistants. The quality and taste of the food were almost of restaurant level.Rabbi Yussie LieberFebruary 2020
My review is limited to the 4 th floor rehab. I think the staff, aides, nurses, social worker, admissions as well as rehab were amazing to my mom. The dietician was really good as well, the food services department helped the best they could with what they have.Having said that , good nursing homes are hard to find, Grandell is clean, nurses do not yell at the patients, aides are as gentle as possible, social worker and admissions works with you to the best of their ability, kudos to the staff! Thanks for taking care of my mom, Selene, Samantha, DJ, Taylor, Rachel, day nurses, rehab staff, Marie, Sammy, Keisha, Singh, Allison ( admission ),thanks all!!!
This review is based on the rehab floor only. The building is an older building but keep reading and see what really matters. My wife has been in and out of the hospital 4 times because of an ongoing condition. The first 3 times over extended periods of rehab time were at Gandell and everyone was fantastic. Although lighter than the weekdays they have rehab on the weekends! Rehabs are notorious for being short staffed on nights and weekends but never did my wife have a problem at night or weekend that was not tended to promtly and with a smile. Everyone always came in at the begining of every shift and introduce themselves so you knew who to ask help from. Everyone was great but I really, really want to praise the nurses and aids! If your nurse or aid wasnt available another nurse or aid would help you out. It didnt matter what time of day or week there was someone taking her seriously and quickly. So much so that in moments after my wife had a seizure they were able to recognize my wife not being her self and got help right away. I say all this because after our 4th hospital visit my wife had a tracheotomy and they cant handle those so we ended up in a very high end beautiful rehab with tons of amenities... and also seem to be short staffed on nurses and aids who are not following doctors direction very well, and dont do any therapy on weekends. I really enjoyed my wifes care at Grandell but now after experiencing another newer more lavish facility with terrible everyday care that could make her worse we miss Grandell so much more. Elizabeth misses you all very much and says hi!
It’s 11:10pm. My mom is in tears. Can’t fall asleep cause she’s so scared. Aids screaming at each other and fighting. My heart hurts. My mom arrived from the hospital after a major accident. Broken leg. Surgeries, poked and protted. Hoping she will be in a safe and secure facility. She gets there and it’s mayhem. Nothing prepared no bed made. All she wanted to do was lay down and rest. Ran all over the place to look for some pillows and blankets. Found a nurse. Asked her to please get me some pillows so I can elevate my moms leg. Comes back with one pillow stained with human feces. Showed it to the nurse she replies “go throw it out”. What!!!! After it calmed down and they started getting organized, the nurse assured me everything will be ok. Now it’s 11:10pm and my poor mother is begging me to get her out. I called for a supervisor. Hung up on me cause I didn’t want to give my name. So they wouldn’t torture my mother further. Stay far away from this facility. Mom, I’m going to get you out first thing tomorrow. I promise!!
Thank you.had wondetfil experience spending shabbay with my mother twice.very respectful.had great time with staff and residents.very attentive to my mother.solution oriented for everyone.Accommodations were very much appreciated. Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother received excellent therapy and was able to return to her Nautilus home in a timely fashion.Thank you talia rapps for caring for reb. bobbi bomzer
More of a warehouse than a nursing and rehab facility. The professional staff was unresponsive to repeated requests for information on patient condition and plans, and kept him there for what seemed like much longer than necessary. PT is done in large waves of patients, with little individual care. Would never use Grandell again.
Everyone on the six floor is very kind to me and working very very hard. I once worked at the CP severe and profound program in Brooklyn, and I know the difficulties there are in working with the silent population. You should be veryProud of you stay up on the six floor
I just found out my mom had a seizure while a resident at this nursing home and THE FAMILY WAS NEVER TOLD. Years later when another doctor tells us shes on anti-seizure meds and what whatever goodtime she had left was taken from her - getting royally screwed over by lying staff is what Im thinking about with my mom on her death bed.
Hi my name is Chandra woolford I was a private caregiver in this facility for one year I witness first hand the care the workers there give to there patients they treat them with care and love even the housekeepers are wonderful it is a wonderful staff very helpful I would recommend this care facility for a love one

2022-07-03My father was transferred to Grandell after having been in the hospital for 2 and a 1/2 weeks. The staff at Grandell was warm and welcoming. The therapy there was excellent. Everyone there was very in tune to his needs. Starting with the corporate administrator, Mr. Moishy Heller, the Grandell staff made us feel that they treated us as though they would treat their own family! When it came time for my father to be discharged, the Social worker in charge of his case, made sure that he had everything he needed for a safe transition back home.

2022-05-21My father was transferred from the hospital to this facility two times since last year. Our first experience was great. The fourth floor rehab nurses really went out of their way to make their patients and families feel welcomed. The care he received at that time was exceptional! This time around he was on the first floor and I have to admit we were somewhat disappointed by the lack of care and efficiency at Grandell. As with any nursing home, family must always be on top of things to make sure all is going smoothly, but on this occasion I had to make emergency runs too many times at late hours of the night. I had to make sure he got his meds and to tend to his concerns constantly. Grandell is still okay. We just saw another side of it this time. From overworked nurses (40:1 nurses to patient ratios) to neglectful supervisors. It shouldn’t have been this hard to get the care my father needed.

2022-04-10My dad was WELL cared for in this facility. The excellent service started with the admissions team and continued with the entire nursing, physical therapy, social work, recreation, medical, and reception teams along with the business office. My dad was in the facility for a little over 2 months. He was admitted via a hospital bed and unable to walk. On his release day, my dad walked out of the facility using just a cane which he carries just in case because he consistently shows me that he really doesnt need it.I would entrust any of my loved ones to the staff in this facility. They made a very stressful time for our family a lot more peaceful as they proved over and over again that my dad was in great hands!

2022-06-08My mom, Marie was admitted there after having total knee replacement. The place is very clean, the staff is unbelievable. The ADNS, Joanne was always checking on her to see how she was doing, and extremely helpful when we had questions. She was on the 4th floor, and all her aides and nurses were extremely nice and helpful to her. Keesha and Singh did an amazing job taking care of her, and even accompanied her to her doctors appointments. All the therapists where extremely helpful in helping my mom get better, and she was able to come home very fast. I cant say enough about this place.

2022-06-05Do not let your loved one stay here. I was just talking with a dear friend on my cell phone, who is a patient there. There was a LOT of noise in the background and I asked my friend if her TV was playing loudly. She replied no, that it was another resident talking loud. I FOUND THE NOISE DISTURBING AND I WAS JUST LISTENING ON THE PHONE!!! Patients need rest and understanding. They need to get their meds on time. My heart just breaks for my friend because I live so far away. I cant believe all the positive reviews listed here, and I wonder if they are legitimate. Just sayin... Medicare should take a look at this place, seriously.

2021-05-07The care that my mother received at the Grandell was like a five star hotel. The staff really treated her like their own mother. We setup a tablet so we can see her at any time and saw first hand the compassion and care that my mother received. Their therapies were also tough but motivating. My mother left the Grandell yesterday ready to conquer the world again.

2021-05-30My mother was just discharged from the Grandell after recovering from her second broken hip in 3 years. The entire staff, from the Administrators, (Daniel Kret) to the amazing CNAs; Sharron Prince, Keesha and Singh provided our mother with kind and compassionate care. The entire staff is imbued with a culture of nice. We cant thank them enough!!

2019-12-23Amazing and warm staff. My mom is staying as she needed surgery for her knee and whatever she needs the staff is able to get her.It was very hard for her after the surgery for her not being independent - but having a warm staff and a nice place to stay has lifted her mood and she was able to start recovering. Highly recommend this place. The administrator Daniel is a genuine nice guy as well!

2020-01-19I have to tell everyone looking for a loving caring facility for their special loved one that Grandell is that place. My sister Rochelle has received the most individual care that anyone in the position of caregiver can request. When she needed it most they were always there for her. Her medication and care are complex and when faced with a decision that would have made life easier for Grandel they always took the harder road because it was better for Rochelle.I love all the people, the nursing directors, the nurses, the rehabilitation and physical therapy and the recreation and social events staff. From the very beginning it was clear that everyone cherished the job of caring for others. That isn’t a commodity you can buy it is a quality they were born with.I don’t know any other way to say it but G-d should bless them all with long life and good health.
