I have come here quite a few times for smoothies and treats -- always pleased! The space is amazing and I love the shopping section. Since I had great previous experiences, Grass Roots was the top of my list when I looked into doing a juice cleanse. I saw that they had options online for different cleanses so when I went in for a morning smoothie I asked the cashier if cleanses needed to be ordered ahead of time, however she didnt seem to know much about it. I called to ask again, as I know that it is typical for cleanses to be requested a day or 2 in advance -- a different employee on the phone didnt seem to know much either, but he quickly handed the phone off to Alejandra. She was so incredibly helpful! She did inform me that cleanses need to be ordered in advance, but she was SO kind to agree to help my friend and I create 3 day cleanses from what they already had in the cooler. She pulled juices and labeled them in the order we should drink them. She even personalized them to our level of experience and taste preference. I already loved this place, but after today Im totally over the moon about it. Thank you guys!
Grass roots juice is fantastic. They have lots of smoothies and juices and salads and sandwiches to go. I wish they had a green smoothie with vegetables but most of their drinks are fruit heavy. Its right next to the subway so its good to just grab something before work .
I’ve been going to this spot since it opened and have watched it expand into the store it is today. I think it’s the best juice in NYC. Their candid killa is by far the best green juice I’ve ever had and my boyfriend loves their sweeter juices (i don’t really care about fruit juice in general). Their “bounty bars” are so tasty and love that they have a healthy version of the candy bar. The matcha milk is heaven...and they have excellent curated products in their gift shop. They sell the lipo-vitamin C packets which are incredible, Ursa Major (best natural deodorant I have ever found) and so many other products that are really the best of the best. It’s a special spot and go there every time I am near or working in the neighborhood. They also recycle the bottles which is great. And it’s woman owned. It’s been awesome to watch the shop grow. If you haven’t stopped in, you should. I think they even sell their juices at the grocery next door now! Brava 💯
First of all I have 2 years coming here. They always have new employees, which makes me question management. Employees are very rude, always talking and laughing. they seem to never pay attention to customers. Floors are always dirty, food isnt fresh, sometimes the kale smells weird. Smoothies arent always made with the same taste. Seating area is also always dirty. I use to recommend this place to all my coworkers and friends, but now I wouldnt recommend it so much, so much has changed in this business. I use to love the b12 boost bowl with coconut yogurt, but now it taste expired. Somehow, everything seems to taste different, NOT fresh. Also, THIS REVIEW IS A REFLECTION OF THEIR GRADE WHICH IS a B. I hope when I go again soon things are different, if not I will contact the health department. A lot has changed in 2 years. I hope management reads this review, and improves their services before its TOO late.
This place is just the best!! The have the best smoothies, vegan/ vegetarian food options and tons of adorable merchandise :) The staff is super knowledgeable about the items on the menu (which is really reassuring). I love having the zinger every now and then to clear up my sinuses (works great!), the macro bowl as well as the taco party are my top picks! Ive done their cleanses as well... much better than a regular juice press place. Step into this place and youll never want to leave... fruit covered walls, an explosion of color, crafts and events that are always buzzing about... its adorable... its so community oriented as well (which i love). Nothing beats taking a killer workout and rewarding myself with an Espresso Buzz smoothie and of course some cute merch!
WOW love this spot! Incredible juices, so delicious. Great options for if you are coming down with a cold, hungover, need a healthy boost in the morning. Really innovative juices/bowls packed with nutrients. The staff is really knowledgeable in explaining their products and recommending something for your specific needs. Amazing job guys!
Love this place. Always friendly service. The lines can get a little long on weekends but that’s expected and I take a good sign. Acaci bowls and tasty gluten free goods. Plus a nice little shop for browsing or quirky gifts. Oh and the best sinus clearing juice shots around. Go to place for when I’m feeling a little sick.
This shop is the Mecca for last minute cute gifts that are ideal for people you don’t know very well. Desserts in the fridge are very good and some bites are delicious too. The variety of foods is truly impressive! CBD product collection is solid as well. Neighborhood gem!
Not bad. This was my first time going to Grass Roots. I went on a long walk and after about an hour and change of random exploring, I got thirsty and saw this place. The service was normal and the delivery time was decent. I tried the Fruity Spice, which was a delicious but definitely spicier on account of the extra ginger thats used. Id come here again.
Usually love this place. But, I’ve been turned away 20 minutes before it’s suppose to close (8pm) for anything that’s not already pre-made. I feel like if a business is not honoring their hours of operation, than they should either adjust those hours or state that it’s limiting what they offer. I like shopping local, but I’ll be going to Juice Generation for anything within an hour of their stated close time.
Ive been coming here for years! they have a great selection of juices, all fresh and also really great service. The staff is wildly knowledgeable about the ingredients that are used and can make some great recommendations, especially when you need something for your immune system. Def stop by if you can!
I’ve been coming here for years and it’s fitting that now I should be writing a review. I just finished downing an immunity please shot (which you should DEFINTELY) drink. Their smoothies, juices, snacks and other products have kept me going. The immunity please has kept me from getting sick so many times I Love it! Some other favorites the Lady Liver, the fruity spice, legalize it, cinful the Giselle chicken salad and the veganasaurus salad! I could go on and on seriously look out for their seasonal specials.Yes 100% it’s expensive but it’s so worth it.
Acai bowl was good but suuuuper small for $8. The employees took about 5 minutes to even acknowledge me and take my order even though I was the only person waiting. I felt pretty unwelcome. The employees overall weren’t the friendliest but the food was good enough that I might come back sometime.
I love the options they offer...However for the past 4 months my smoothies have never came out the same. I either get a smoothie that isnt blended completely, is too watery, or the taste is subpar. Perhaps 3/10 times in the past 4 months my smoothie was good enough. I keep coming back because the convince of this being right off the train stop near my home + the convince of not making my own smoothie- however I write this review while acclaiming to never come again! :) There are juice places nearby that make juices more affordable. Sadly my career in making smoothies has started again at home because I cant trust me local spot. Thanks for reading my TedTalk!
FOOD POISONING, please avoid this place. My boyfriend and I stopped in here to grab two macro bowls and a local Lozenge before heading to a Gov Ball music festival. We waited for nearly 25-30 minutes for our food, only to receive a super basic box of brown rice, red cabbage and a small mix of nuts and greens. It was our first meal of the day, so we just devoured it and shelved our disappointment. 30 minutes into the train ride, we both start feeling extremely nauseous. At this point it’s very clear this is food poisoning. And hour goes by and we’re at the festival now, stumbling around, powering through, attempting to make it to our favorite set, a most painful experience but something we’ve been looking forward to for a week! Instead, we spend the next 30 minutes hurling out our insides in the bathroom. We both had to leave. Awful experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN HERE AGAIN AND YOU WOULD BE WISE TO DO THE SAME.
I live in the neighborhood and was walking by last night and several rats were running around!!!! gross!clearly, you have me confused with another customer, I never went in your store. I walked by saw rats inside. Ill take pictures next time I walk by at night and post them here. clean up your store.
I’ve been going there for years and still never get a genuine Hi & am treated like it’s my first time there every time, Kind of sad - even the owner has no clue who her customers are, it’s so cliché in that aspect - It’s all about that business cash - which I’ve given tons of going there since there are no other options nearby. The products are consistent though and again there’s nothing nearby so am grateful but after 3 years of frequenting the place am still treated like a stranger. Lame.
I have been going here for 3 years. I love seeing the small business grow and i love supporting family owned/operated, brown woman owned/operated business. Everything they put out, they make in house. I literally stock up on juices if i have to leave town because i never get quite the same freshness or tastes anywhere else.Favs and highlights:Cold-pressed juices: grassroots, citrus mistress, zinger, coconut water, coconut milkSmoothies: best breakfast add spinach, power of acai coconut milk sub for apple juiceFoods: macro bowl, big deal salad, greek kale salad, bounty bars, all of the sandwiches, gizelle salad, literally every baked cookieOn the retail shelve: this is where i go if i need to get a last minute gift, you combine something cute with something to boost the persons health or something cool and its a win every time.Love this place. Thanks for being in the neighborhood.
The BEST place to go for cold pressed juice and healthy meals! i live in manhattan and travel to grass roots in williamsburg a few times a week to stock up. skin glow and the babe cleanse are my favorite juices and they got me hooked on matcha. their matcha milk is divine!!

2022-07-09Ordered the Summer Macro Bowl which comes with steamed broccoli. The broccoli was served ice cold. And there was no urgency to make it. It took about 20 minutes and I was the only person in the shop during off-peak hours. Very expensive as well for what you get. A one and done for me.

2022-05-14Ironically I love this place. But the staff is AWFUL. Third time I’ve been in there and the girl at the front desk has been rude and nasty for no reason. I ask to hear back what I ordered in a juice because she wasn’t paying attention and she said maybe your drink is too expensive, come to find out she didn’t get any ingredients right. She will tell you you did something wrong if there’s a problem. Same girl every time. My boyfriend, sister and I will not be returning.

2022-06-11I ordered a three day juice cleanse from Grass Roots and loved it. The juices were fresh, filling, and fairly priced. I will definitely be coming back!!

2022-03-20Hate to write this, but it has to be the worst açaí bowl I’ve ever had in my life. I didn’t even want to finish it and I love them. The açaí was dry, and it was completely covered by a huge blob of peanut butter and other more drying agents. I wanted something refreshing but found myself the most drying uneatable açaí bowl ever. They should take away the huge blob of peanut butter and add some more fruit instead because it was like eating dry oatmeal.

2022-07-10Açaí bowls are good but way too small. Like an açaí cup or something. +$1 for strawberries +$1 for blueberries. Didn’t feel like they added much. I like a lot of fruit in my açaí bowls and this didn’t quite satisfy me.

2018-01-17I have to say this is my absolute FAVORITE Juice bar and Cafe and Im thrilled with all the new menu options! I love the vibe here, its so chill and comfortable. I often come for lunch or a post work out smoothie with friends and sometimes alone during the week to get some work done (they have free Wi-Fi)! The smoothies are insanely good and their new Grilled Cheese its a must have, think Ive had one almost everyday since theyve been on the menu! My biggest grievance with this place is that they dont have one in Manhattan (where I live), so for now Im making the commute just to come here. The staff is super sweet and helpful and Im thrilled to see how far this place has come with the expansion of the shop as well as cafe! Now I can have my smoothie and pick up my natural deodorant and fire cider vinegar! On Wednesdays they have a Mommy (or Daddy) and Me play group which is beyond cute. It also happens to be my go to card shop so definitely worth the train ride. Grassroots definitely goes above and beyond every other Juice bar Ive ever been to.

2022-07-11Açaí bowl was pretty small and barely got any fruit on top. Pretty disappointing açaí bowl on a hot summer day

2022-06-19The girl at the counter, Lui — is without a doubt the most unkind, pushy, and utterly rude service worker I have encountered in the neighborhood. Lui is the reason we won’t be returning.

2021-09-17Great smoothies! We tried the berry blast (very peanut butter-y. Yum) and tropical hangover (nice and fruity with a lil green)

2022-07-07Girl at the counter was really nasty. I left without ordering..im not spending $11 on a juice to be treated that way...And Ive been in the service industry for years!!!...Im always patient and always over tip. Attitude was uncalled for.
