Out of all the breweries on Long Island Great South Bay brewery is definitely my favorite. Not only do they have great music, great events and even greater beer from their ipa’s to their amazing sours and seltzer’s, but their service far supersedes any other brewery that I have been to. Rachel, Dani, & Eren are our favorite bartenders they are always friendly and welcoming no matter how insanely packed the place is and always make sure our cups are never empty and that the music is good. I have been coming here for years with my family, friends and my dogs because of the great warming and inviting atmosphere from the staff. 10/10 would recommend it here to anyone looking for a fun day/night out or even a place to celebrate special days.
I go to this place at least twice a month with friends & the place is always a great time ! They constantly have diff beer in rotation so there’s always something new to try . I recommend if you go there and you want someone who will give you great service & recommend great tasting beers you need to ask for the bartender named Rachel. I’ve never heard anything bad about her from friends or people I meet at the brewery . Everyone says nothing but great things about her and this brewery . Anthony sounds like a bitter man so I recommend anyone try this place and experience it for themselves .
Its a really nice place to visit. The crowd at night is young. The staff was nice, didnt seem too knowledgeable about the taste of beers which is why Im giving them 4 stars instead of 5. Check out Ghost brewery, its literally on the other side of the same building and they have some great flavors. 👍
I was here on a Thursday for trivia 9/2/21. The brewery is awesome as usual. Beer good, atmosphere good. However, the host of trivia is awful. She presents as highly inconvenienced by her role in this game. Perhaps the brewery should consider someone more enthusiastic. I will certainly return, but not for her.
I frequent many breweries, but none have yet to match the customer service and appreciation that is given by the staff at GSB. Idk what that guy below is talking about, but Rachel has been the key to keeping my friends, colleagues and I coming back. Her emphasis on keeping the customers happy, is unmatched. I’ve witnessed her go above and beyond to accommodate customers to their satisfaction, as well as watched her do the same for my friends and I when there’s been more of us than the table could fit or a mishap with someone’s order. Her ability to give a run down on each beer on the menu is great for new comers and first timers. Dani and Frank are top notch as well. While at times I’ve found myself liking more beers that are no longer on the menu, what keeps us coming back is the staff and the way they treat the patrons.
Great South Bay Brewery is the best brewery in Long Island. The variety and creativity surprises us each time! From the delicious IPAs to fun seltzers and hard teas. We cannot say how delicious each one is. Highly recommend all those curious beers lovers to stop by the tasting room in Bay Shore!
This place is so awesome. The beer is delicious. They have fantastic events like trivia where you can win a gift certificate with the same monetary amount as there are teams times 10 (ex. 28 teams $10 each 280 dollar gift certificate). It also has a very family friendly atmosphere, some people bring their children. The best part is they allow dogs!
They have the best hard teas, tipsy teas! Not too sweet and just the right amount of flavor/alcohol. No comparison to the other names brands, I have been fully converted to GSB tipsy teas and I’m never looking back! They also have some awesome small batch beers and IPAs, highly recommend you get out there and try them sometime. They also throw a hell of an event! They are doing a great job of keeping things clean during this time, go out and support this local business.
This is a great establishment. I have been here approximately three times, but my favorite time was my last. Frank is the pinnacle of service staff. Despite the immense focus it takes to even compose this review while intoxicated, I am able to irrevocably cement Franks status as the greatest waiter at this brewery. Give him a raise, for Christs sake. Please send me his working hours so I can return next time. Also, the name of my dying grandfather is Frank but Im undeniably grateful that his memory will live on in Franks name.
Been here many many times before and have had a great time! But the new staff and management there have made this place into a nightmare. I tried asking about reserving a table and got such an attitude then tried to order a beer and the bar and got a hand in my face with and attitude telling me to hold on, and the kicker was we asked politely as a group to play corn hole and got thrown out of the bar for it.... would not recommend and will not be going back. Considering there’s 1000’s of places to drink on the island, not smart on their part.
Service was great Tue are Dead there and with covid 19 going on dead isnt close but the Beer is amazing .. no food truck which was a let down the food served is sub par pretzel some bar crackers and a pre packaged cheese plater . Needless to say food was a let down compared to a place like blue point . I would of killed for a burger or hit wings with the beer they had it was perfect beer for that. Hopeful the menu will evolve. Other than that great
I will never go back! For a brewery that used to be extremely family friendly, they are now anything but. I understand them not allowing children due to the times we are in, however they should post that on their website or Instagram page to let people know ahead of time before bringing their families to a spot that usually allows families with children. But the rudeness of the hostess upon arrival with my family will keep me from ever returning. When I mentioned the suggestion of posting that they are 21 and over only on their social media page, I was given the arrogant response of sir, we are in the middle of a pandemic, everyone knows the rules, and Im just the hostess. After leaving, I visited 2 other nearby breweries that were extremely friendly, and welcomed my children with open arms! I have been visiting GSB for years but after todays encounter I will no longer be a customer. There are many other breweries to visit that offer a much more pleasant experience.
GSB was the first brewery I ever went to when they opened a few years back. It is so cool so see how far they have come and how theyve built up the business. The beer is always fun, I enjoy the unique seating and the games/activities nights. Great place to hang out awhile no matter the time of year.
Though normally dog friendly, we were told we couldnt have our dog inside or in the outside area. We asked if the dog could stay outside the gates if the totally empty outside area and they allowed it. However a few minutes later the manager told us the dog could not return to property or even the grass median that is technically public property. Im sure they are a great brewery, but maybe stay away for a bit until they figure out how to cater and communicate to their patrons properly
This place is open and spacious, way better than a crowded bar if you’re looking to hang out during the day and such. There are games and trivia nights, and great beer. Although it’s pretty hidden, it does get really busy during weekends and nights. I prefer to go on weekdays just because the vibe is different. Overall, it’s a fun place to go and have some beers with friends
My family and I came here about a month ago. We had our pup with us. Since they’re no longer dog friendly with covid, I offered to stay outside their seated area with the dog and walk her down the road/give a friend a call while the rest of my family went into the seated area to have a beer. The waitress came out to say that if I came back and stood outside the seated area with the dog, they would have to leave. It seemed like an odd thing for the waitress to disclose. My family decided to leave without getting anything.
Went here for the first time with some friends. What a great time! We love beer and like trying new kinds. The tasting room is very no frills. The pool table is jacked up and the furniture is a bit dank and sticky, but it all fits! If you care about atmosphere, go somewhere else. But if you like low key comfortable places and beer in a chill space then this place is for you! There is a food truck outside with some decent snacks. You have to be a little pushy to get the bartenders to pay attention to you and the one thing that really was off-putting to me was that people bring their kids! Not a fan of that - at all!! They werent just there to get growlers filled either. There was a guy there boozing and played corn hole wearing his baby! I just dont get it. And indefinitely didnt like when I heard them ask people to watch their language in front of the kids. Really!? You want to shield them from curse words, but have no problem exposing them to drunken stupidity?! Next time go to Chuck E. Cheese!!! Although, other people being able to bring their puppies totally off-sets the annoyance of having kids in a very adult setting. I plan on coming back. Just hope there are no kids next time.
Really just writing this for people to know. The final thought of this place, is that there’s other breweries who care. Showed up, waited in line and finally spoke with the bar tender who asked what we wanted then ignored us to speak to others at the bar. Came back and took our order and got our beer ready, and it wasn’t the right order. Not that we cared because we love beer but she had one job, which was literally written down on paper because that’s how they operate. You write down your order and they take it, and she got it wrong somehow. Overall the beer is great, but the people there could not care less about your experience so I would recommend going somewhere else with equally good beer.
If I could give this place -5 stars I would. We planned to go here for a birthday celebration and checked the website and called multiple times to confirm my sister could join us since shes 18. We got there and were told the rules changed yesterday and when we asked questions to clarify the bouncer was nasty and rude. The atmosphere is subpar and the interior has no aesthetic. Almost feels like they get all their furniture from Goodwill. Will never come back here again and would not recommend.
Met with one of the owners of gsb (Doug) and was blown away by his commitment to his brand and his customers. He specifically told me that he would make sure I found something I liked that his company brewed. Never the less I was stunned. Gsb has now made me a believer and a patron for life.
Huge space with the couches, foosball, darts, and other games to appeal to the I-Dont-Want-to-Grow-Up millennial crowd. There is a separate space you can reserve for a private party. I was iffy on going, because I cant stand dog friendly places. Dogs are fine; their owners are usually idiots, and my theory was not disproven. As happens every.single.time I am in a dog friendly establishment, sure enough, 2 dogs got into it while we were there. What is the deal with these people who cannot control their dogs, yet insist on bringing them along everywhere they go? Im so over it. The beers were good, but thats about all I can say about this place.
I was there on Saturday with about 20-25 friends, all of whom were drinking. The drinks were priced fair, and while I don’t drink beer the cider was tasted fine. My issues come with the customer service. I went up to get a drink and there was only one bartender, while the other was eating quesadillas. She was obviously overwhelmed, but she was also not very friendly, but I looked past it. My major issue came at the end of the night when they were getting ready to close, the bartender turned off the music and rudely screamed “we’re closing in 9 minutes finis your drinks and get out”. I was taken aback, not only did we still have time before they closed, but the way they were announcing their closure was rude. After 20+ of us drank at least 2 each (many drank much more) I was shocked to hear that. It did not make me want to come back at all, and other people in my party agreed they would not be returning.I also called for a non related issue the next day and it took 20 tries to get someone, you have a better chance at winning a radio contest than getting someone on the phone here.
Great open space. Good beer. Fun for adults plus games for kids to keep them occupied. Corn hole, ping pong and foosball. Dog friendly as well. Always a good food truck like Chiddys or Swell Taco. They also do private parties. Ample parking. Liveusic on certain nights. Bingo on Wednesdays and trivia on Thursdays.
Never go back there... liars, cheap and unethical. we reserved 3 tables for a Birthday and they said the would be free. When we arrived there, suddenly they asked for $300 + tax to allow us. We had already informed everyone about the event and we were forced to pay... these people are liars, cheap, and unethical. Let me add that the beer quality is bad and wine is horrible and place is really dirty. Do your self a favor and do go there!
This place has taken a downward turn recently. It used to be family oriented and they even had nice live acoustic music. Now, the new young bartenders BLAST this emo-screamo punk hardcore music and nobody wants it. Its attracting BAD clientele, which Bayshore doesnt need more of. So, theyve replaced pretty live music and families with loud noise and riff raff. Bye-bye.
I didnt appreciate the dogs barking and fighting or children running around like it was a playground. The wine was awful but that was the only gf option aside from the overly sweet hard cider. The bathroom stunk to high hell. There was no place to sit, had to stand the whole time. I wont be going back there again.
This place was a fantastic recommendation and great stop prior to a bike camping trip to Hicks her State Park. The Great South Bay Blood Orange Pale Ale was a great drink in this overcast Summer Breeze, but the Great South Bay Fire Island Rocket Fuel was literally on point. Cheers!
Having an incredible time, discovering the beers from this superior long island brewery. Blonde Ambition is apricot delicious. Massive, solid, outstanding IPA. 2nd only to Hoppocratic Oath. Marauder, barrel aged Scottish ale is by far one of the best craft beers in the US. Love this brewery! Keep at it guys, cant wait to see what you brew up next.
Mmmmm ... beer. - Homer SimpsonStopped in to pick up the limited edition Surge Protector Sandy Relief Ale that GSB collaborated on and sampled some of their regular brews.Hoppocratic Oath was a tasty, rich IPA but my favorite was the Blood Red Pale Ale. Absolutely refreshing. Had to grab a growler of it to take home.

2021-07-10I came here for the first time for a retirement party. They have a cool atmosphere, fooseball tables, dart board, and corn hole. They also have a gift shop and large windows to see the manufacturing side for the brewery on the other side of the building. They have outdoor seating that connects to the inside when they open the big glass doors/windows. Was a fun place, Id come here again.

2022-04-07Nice open space and plenty of TVs if you want to watch sports. Nice you just go up to order your beer instead of waiting for a server. Just my preference

2019-04-24A great place to try awesome beer & cider offerings while catching great music like the Wilson Brothers Band. The inside is spacious and the game area delights. When there is a food truck outside, plan to stay for hours!
