I dont know what happened to this place. A year ago we would have said this was our go to Chinese takeout restaurant. The food portions were large and everything was tasty - I loved and still love their egg rolls. Lately the food has been awful - gummy, unevenly cooked, lacking flavor, oddly textured and colored. In short - gross. Ive had to throw food out, scared I would get food poisoning. I keep giving them a shot every couple of months thinking its a one-off, but after this last time, I think Im done as a customer. :(

Not only was it was more expensive that our usual place but the food was really not good. Everything had a weird taste to it. The chicken and mixed veggies were red? Very odd. Disappointed I spent this much on bad food. Never again!

First off, they seem to be doing well to take precautions for the pandemic. Their prices are also fairly on par with other Chinese restaurants. My order was done and ready quickly as well.However based on the food alone I’d have to give them one star. While the portions were large, we now have tons of leftovers no one will eat. The food was largely lacking flavor and was overly greasy. The dishes we ordered that were meant to be spicy, couldn’t be more mild. The meat in all their dishes was off and the chicken was incredibly gummy. They also seem fairly vegetable averse. My lo mein was basically noodles and oddly textured chicken, that tasted more like faux meat than real. I tried to find some positive to share but unfortunately, the whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths.
Great Wok has amazingly delicious food. They only do take out but that rarely takes more than 10 minutes from order to pick up time. Last night that were really busy. They had eight people working in the kitchen and there were nine of us waiting for orders inside with two more outside. Did you do food grab I think its called so you can get food delivered that way. The prices are reasonable and their portions are very generous. If you like Chinese food give them a try last night I had the shrimp and broccoli combo. With this came not just shrimp broccoli carrots and a ton of yellow rice but I also got an egg roll in a pint of the soup of my choosing for only about 8 bucks. They are a good deal give them a try theyre on transit right across from Daves Christmas land.
I would have to say that the food is average. Everything kinda tasted the same. Meh.

Firstly I want to say I love this place. I have been coming here for over 10 years now. This review is only based on my last few Visits. The service is still great that saId the food is beginning to loose its quality. I dont know if it is a new cook, or supplier but something Id definitely off. I will give them another shot but if this is the direction they are going I will find a new place.UPDATEthis must have been a bad run. Recently it has been excellent as usually and i can not recommend it enough.

Ive ordered Chinese food from south Florida all the way home to western new york. This place is hands down, the best Chinese food Ive ever had. The service is excellent as well. Ive never waited more than 10 minutes from order to carry out. They make you feel welcome and appreciated as soon as you walk in the door. Ive ordered about 10 times here and about 50% of the time I leave with extra free food. Im actually typing this review in the waiting area here and no joke, 6 minutes was all I waited for 2 meals, an appetizer and soups. Again Im leaving with fried meatballs and extra egg rolls. Incredible and satisfying.
They have provided a very safe way to limit their staffs contact with customers.The counter person is always appreciative of every purchase and generous with extras upon pick up. Love the hot and sour soup.
Best Chinese food around! Im not a fan of americanized Chinese food but the food here is amazing! The employees are also very kind and understanding. There was quite a long wait when I came but I understand that cooking food at such quick pace and under such hot temperature can be hard and tiring so props to them. Thank you!
Ive lived in this neighborhood for a year now. Within that year Ive only ate at the chinese restaurant up the block on French whose food portions are weak. These guys here hit a home run with me... Great options, fresh food and nice portions within each meal. I will definitely continue to visit this restaurant.
I have gone here all my life and this is the only place I will go. The price is beyond reasonable! Everyone is so nice, and understanding and there food is the fantastic. They’re super quick, and always making sure your order is correct and everyone’s getting taken care of. I haven’t ever had a bad order or the wrong order. I highly recommend great wok!
This place is so wonderful! We came in close to closing time, and asked if they were okay to take a large order. They did and even threw in some extras. The employees are great and the food is delicious. I highly recommend coming here.
Yum! Typical Chinese but the food quality is great. The fried rice actually has taste which other restaurants miss. One dinner combo easily feeds 2 people. The Hot and Spicy Shrimp is my favorite. Super fast service too. Highly recommended.
Best Chinese restaurant Ive found in this area. Reasonable prices, large portions. Shrimp lo mein is my favorite. Crab Rangoon, egg drop soup and fried rice also really good (could do without so many onions in the fried rice). Sesame chicken pretty good; isnt all gristle and chewy like all other places Ive tried.
Ive been coming to this little restaurant since I was a little kid. This has always been the epitome of Chinese food for me and my family. Everything is delicious and they have some nice vagitarian options. There is also some in-house specials that change on occasion. Havent found anywhere better than here for quick friendly service.
This place is wonderful. Its mainly take out so if youre looking for sit down this is limited in that. However, the food is just outstanding, some of the best Chinese Ive had in the US. The people are super friendly and there is no skimping on portions. The Won Ton soup has so many Won Tons in it theres just enough room for the broth! The online ordering is super easy and the food is always ready in time. GO HERE! You will be glad you did!

The food is fantastic! It seems like its just your run of the mill plaza shop, but you cant just judge the shop on its appearances. The wait was decently short and the prices are really good for the amount of food you get. I ordered my usual fried dumplings, crab rangoon and house special lo mein. The rangoons actually had crab in it, the dumplings were tender and the dipping sauce was thicker than normal, sticking to the dumpling better. The lo mein had lots of different ingredients, all were easily discernible as they had their own flavors and didnt cook down into nothing. All in all, everything was delicious and I cant wait to go back to try the Dragon and Phoenix special there, which I didnt know they had because it wasnt listed on the generic menu!
I usually only eat Chinese food when I am in a pinch because I find it expensive and not very good. Their lunch specials were the opposite. Affordable, great tasting and good quality. I am very pleased and will definitely be going back.

The food is always top notch, the people who work here are some of the nicest people you could ask for and the portions are always plentiful. Been coming here for as long as I can remember and will always come back. I recommend this place for great food.
We used to order from here all the time,but yesterday we ordered take got home and was taking our food out of the box when a live roach came running out of the box. Needless to say we will no longer be ordering from here. We actually threw the whole $24 order out not willing to trust if roaches had gotten into our order plus none of us where hungry any more after seeing roach climbing out of box our food was just in.
This is my 1 Go To place for Chinese. I feel it is mostly good food and the owners are always nice. If I have any knock against it, it would be that sometimes... maybe 1 in 7 times the shrimp in my garlic shrimp dish is not so good. Maybe a little over cooked or mushy.....ugh!! Next visit after this review my General Tso was not so good. I like mine with a crispy finish in a dark, carmelized sauce. But this time was not. Depends who is in the kitchen.
Food is great, fast service and food is cooked to your preference. If you call your order in, it is usually ready within 5 minutes! Have been eating here for a long time and wont order Chinese anywhere else!

Hands down best Chinese food this side of the Hudson. I grew up on Long Island and have had some of the best,t place is the ducks nuts. Usually pretty quick and always packed full of flavor. A must visit for anyone in the Depew area.

I was greeted very kindly by multiple staff and my large order was ready 10 minutes after I called. My husband said his Singapore Meifun was some of the best hes had (and hes had ALOT) and Ive never had better orange chicken from a take-out place. Veggie fried rice was hearty and yummy and so were the fried dumplings. Its also super convenient how late they stay open. Glad to have an option like this nearby. Will definitely be ordering from here again!

Food had no flavor. Sweet and sour chicken was dry and one of thr pieces had something sharp anf the sauce had giant chunks of pineapple and was almost water,BE AWARE. Ordered the egg rolls ( those were surprisingly pretty good) but the last few bites tasted like a straight peanut and were so greasy... To anyone with a peanut allergy.
Ive been looking for a really good Chinese food place since the 1 I loved so much closed in Orchard Park...well look no further the food was excellent staff was great n the prices were very reasonable...my suggestion n its only my opinion but go check it out

I dont eat Chinese food often,diabetic here,but this is the only place i like around. They forgot my brocolli today but for the most part everythings good. My won ton was especially good today,deep flavor,darker than usual so they put a lot of good stock in there. I definatly recommend here over any nearby

I never do reviews but this was really bad food and I hated to be wasteful. General Tsos chicken was mushy and the Sweet n Sour chicken was so greasy. The staff was friendly so thats why I gave 2 stars but I will never eat here again. We threw out 27$ worth of food it was so bad.

I couldnt understand a word the guy said over the phone. He ended up giving me two chefs specials which was way too much. The general tsos was all small chunks of breading or something with very little to no chicken in them, threw most of it out. The rice was bland and tasteless. They gave me some fried balls of something to make up for how bad it was but they were disgusting too. Had half a one and threw it out. Tried to eat most of the beef but it was stringy and chewy. Not very appetizing probably wont go back

Ive never been here myself but I did go in today to pick up an order for my dad. You can see the kitchen from the front desk and Immediately I noticed that it was badly lit back there, and very cluttered and a bit dirty. Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw something moving towards me on the desk and it was a ROACH about the size of a quarter. What made it worse was the fact that when the man came back and saw the roach, he put a menu over it and waited until I turned away to do something about it. I have a strong feeling that this was definitely not the first time hed seen one crawling around in there. Sadly its hard for me to confront people and I wish I would have said something right then and there. I work in a restaurant and this would NOT fly. Hopefully, theyll shape up and clean up, but in the meantime, Id suggest going elsewhere.

The food here is amazing. You cant go wrong with anything you order here. The General Tso and the Lo Mein here is one of the best in the area. O yea i highly recommend the Phoenix and Dragon platter. The people are very nice and friendly too.
Our chicken noodle soup had a dead cockroach (or some other brown oblong insect) in it.
Love the food there and they give you enough food that you can have at least 2 meals from one combo. When you order from them you get along with your meal an egg roll plus a soup. Whether its egg drop soup or wonton soup that all comes with your food. I try and get something different so I can try other foods. So tonight I got Chinese mixed vegetables with chicken. Plus you get pork fried rice and the egg roll and soup. I always get wonton. All that for 7.75. Give them a try. There in the tops plaza on trmTransit and French Rd. You wont be sorry.

The customer service is rude, I was sitting down waiting for my order, and two Chinese girls walked in and asked for a menu. The worker would not give them a menu. The worker said to them that they’re Chinese and they can’t order food or even get a menu. I also had to wait a long time just to get one order.

2022-05-17This is the best Transport company out there. Hire them for all your delivery and transport needs. They have a very fast team who respond in a timely manner. 2022-05-27This place used to be the best around when I lived around the corner and came here all the time. I just stopped by here for the first time in a couple years and I didnt even recognize the place. There are no tables to eat in anymore and the great service I used to get has been replaced by a guy who was very rude and didnt understand what my friend and I were saying. He would walk away in the middle of us telling him what we wanted and then made multiple mistakes. He kept smiling and it almost felt like he was laughing at us. Other people who came in after us had a similar experience.

2022-03-29The food is excellent and the staff is friendly. But ever since they opened up the door dash and grubhub offering, the service has gone down. It was always 10 minutes, and it was ready in ten minutes. Two of the last three times I have ordered from here I was still told 10 minutes, only to wait in the restaurant for 45 and 30 minutes respectively after I showed up. All the while, the grubhub and door dash drivers come and go with little to no wait. I think I need to become my own door dash driver and order that way in order to continue to eat from Great Wok. I love their food, but the wait inside the restaurant is just too much. If it really is that busy, tell me it will be 30 minutes and I wont show up until the 30 minutes has passed, but the waiting at the restaurant is just terrible service.

2022-05-28This used to be my favorite Chinese takeout - a little bland and tasteless but the place is convenient - the breaking point was when I ordered several items including chicken w/ broccoli and a shrimp dish (cant recall exactly which). When I got home discovered I got two chicken and broccoli, one was the usual chicken w/ broccoli and instead of the shrimp dish (which I really wanted) I got an old and grey looking chicken w/ wilted discolored broccoli - yes, it was grey, looked like it was sitting on a shelf for several hours. Instead of complaining I threw it out and never went back. Large portions of cheap food does not = good restaurant.

2019-05-12Ive come to the decision this is the best Chinese in the Cheektowaga area. I once stopped in when I was sick and really enjoyed everything but didnt know if it was just because I was sick or not. After trying again multiple times, my suspicions were confirmed. The egg rolls are great, the soup is so good and the broth actually has a distinct flavor. Great Wonton Soup but the Chicken Rice which a lot of places dont always have is one of my favorites. General Tsos is excellent and you get to choose your spiciness level. I especially like their Beef Teriyaki. And alsways get Shrimp Toast. The staff is always friendly and they even sometimes give you free samples. Love Great Wok!

2022-08-15I consider myself a chinese food connoisseur of sorts and I can tell you this was the WORST chinese food I have ever tasted. The sweet and sour chicken was overcooked and so rubbery that it did not even taste like chicken as well as the lemon chicken. The put lettuce under the chicken instead of broccoli and the rice was bland and wet. How do you even mess up cooking white rice? Called Doordash and demanded my money back. Threw the entire order in the trash.

2022-02-07The portions were big, the egg roll was average, the price was great, and the wonton soup was good. Other than that it was not very good. The sesame chicken and beef with broccoli weren’t flavorful they were very bland. I was hoping this would be our Chinese place because of the portion sizes and price but after tasting it, I doubt we’ll be back.

2021-09-02The food is delicious and the portions are very generous. They are a very busy place what with the pandemic related surge in delivery and take out orders and they are probably short staffed like any restaurant these days but they still do a great job. Food comes out hot and they even throw something extra in if there is a delay. Staff is very kind as well. They have one of the better lo mein’s in town. Also shout out to how the pack up these orders, nothing ever spills or tips over.

2021-07-31The food at Great Wok is really great takeout Chinese food, but the service is almost always lackluster (read some of the other reviews and youll find the same complaints Im writing about). The prices are good and portions are generous. I hate to come on here and write a bad review because of a bad experience I had tonight, but it was one of the worst customer service experiences Ive ever had, and its not the first time this has happened. I ordered online and went in to pick up and was one of nine people waiting for takeout and there was nobody at the register to give us our orders or take our money. After about 10 minutes someone came up and started taking orders from other customers who had walked in and wanted to place orders. I think in the 20 minutes I spent in the restaurant, one or two (at most) of the original nine waiting for their takeout actually got their food. I just walked out because I had some place to be. It was completely disorganized. Keep in mind that my online order was said to be ready in 15 minutes, so I let the 15 minutes past and then got the restaurant and waited another 20 for food I never got. It was even worse when we went six months ago. We placed an order and waited our 15 minutes and got there and actually waited through the entire time and it took 35 minutes for us to get our food.
