It is hard to know where to start with reviewing this airport. Usually reviews are meant to help people decide whether or not they want to utilize the business for their convenience: with this I am hoping the management can really pick up their pace in recovering flights here. The Binghamton airport has shrunk significantly with no one really caring. They are down to three daily flights to Detroit serviced by Delta which will be down to two flights daily in January due to “Skywest needing to catch up on some maintenance”, that is a lie because if that was the case; Ithaca, Elmira and other nearby airports would lose a flight once a day as well. Binghamton airport has a larger population than Elmira or Ithaca yet the service is dwindling. Ten years ago there was nearly a dozen flights daily served by multiple carriers. Other airports across the country that serve metropolitans the size of Binghamton usually have at least Twenty daily flights. It has the people, it just loses them to other airports. People end up driving an hour for better options. There is absolutely no realistic explanation why the management can not switch things around and get Piedmont back for American Airlines to serve Philadelphia like they once did with six daily flights. Please at least get Piedmont back, for American Airlines to once again be an option! Delta should start an Atlanta service as well. There used to be some effort to at least try new things. There has not been a new service announcement for years now. Please, do not give up on something that is already there and is capable of a lot. The runways are capable of handling large aircraft. So please do not say that is what is stopping growth. Take chances and get the people back!
Worst experience. My flight was delayed 15 hours do to the runway being covered in ice! This caused me to be unable to take my flight to Binghamton leaving me stranded. Meanwhile by this point all other surrounding airports in NY were operating normally with the weather. Never even got on the plane I had to switch my flight to Ithaca, where they know how to properly maintain their runways. Will never fly in or out of here again!!!
Wonderful little airport! You can check a bag and get through security (gate right on the other side of the checkpoint) typically in 5 mins or less. Seriously! Delta usually has very good fares from here and my last one was $370 roundtrip to go to San Diego via Detroit. Please dont let the negative Karens in the reviews sway you, many people in this area dont understand what a blessing it is to have an airport that isnt hours away like the last place I lived. Highly reccomend flying out of BGM. Just know that in terms of snacks, its vending machine fare in the boarding area, but the machines take credit cards. Very convenient airport to fly into and out of
The airport is a very nice with friendly staff. The downside is that only Delta flys there at incovenant times, high prices with only two flights. I now fly into NYC or Syracuse and take a bus into Binghamton at a much lower cost it’s very sad that I’m forced to go other where when family is only 10 miles from this airport. It’s a huge inconvenience when I travel back to see family the prices have to change before I fly from here again .
Avoid at all cost, I have had many misfortunes through this airport. Not the airport itself but some of the airlines that operate out of it. Left a valuable when I finally arrived back to the airport in a overhead after a 3 day delay by USAIR, met with indifference by airline agents? absolutely the least enthusiastic unconcerned people in the airline business. To date all my phone calls regarding the lost bag have been met with your fault for leaving it even though they were told exactly where the bag was left within 30 minutes of leaving it could have been sooner if they answered there phones. Apparently they have no way to communicate with destination gates for anything, and they dont check the overhead compartments for anything suspicious or lost before leaving? Im a customer at least try to make me believe you care? If your flight gets canceled to or from this airport you will have big problems, 3 extra days to get back ? Quick example, leaving for a cruise and flying out a day early. Flight is delayed right before boarding, hours later informed the reason is not enough oxygen on the plane and the only mechanic assigned to the airport was first called to Elmira and he will be at the airport in a hour. Mechanic finally shows up, he does not have enough oxygen to satisfy the need, flight canceled all flights full out of Binghamton next 3 days. Lesson learned after 15 years of similar stress and problems flying from this airport and associated airlines, dont do it. Parking expenses are extortionary at this airport as well, check them against similar sized airports.
This is a very small airport. Usually only one line for security is open and it is not a huge line. The gate and ticket agents seem to be in a better mood and can be more personal than other workers at larger airports. Theres only one restaurant, subway, not accessible from inside the terminal but the prices are not inflated. Parking is very responsible-less than $60 for a whole week. Easy to get from parking lot to inside airport. One down side-flights tend to take off late by 20 or 15 minutes which can be just enough to cause headaches.
Quite possibly the worst Delta front desk staff Ive encountered yet. They operated with a complete lack of customer service skills.Id also like to be clear - Im not writing this review as a result of a negative Delta flight experience. Im simply stating that my experience with the front desk at this particular airport was laughable.
Literally the worst. Messed up seating so they had to reseat everyone right before the flight, but without a system. It was just them randomly putting people in seats. They also didnt even know what gate my flight was. THERE WAS ONLY ONE PLANE AT THE AIRPORT. The plane arrived early, but the staffs incompetence made it so no one could even board until 30 minutes after the flight was supposed to leave. Completely messed up my flight to get to a layover so I had to spend multiple other hours doing nothing in another airport, but at least they had a sense of what they were doing. Also, the security at Binghamton was awful. They opened up all my bags, and found nothing. Oh except a present that I wrapped for my parents which they confiscated. THEY WERE COASTERS!!!! What could I do with 6 wooden coasters!?!?!?!? I also realized that I had forgotten to take off my smart watch before I went through the security scanner so they didnt even notice that I had something on my watch. I cannot express how terrible this airport was through and through. Dont book anything through here.
I have to echo those whove expressed disappointment that a metro area the size of the Tri-Cities has such inadequate air service. At this moment Im stuck in Detroit. Our plane cant leave because the Binghamton airport is closed and they havent cleared their runways. Meanwhile Im checking the board here and smaller metro areas with the same inclement weather are open for business. I will be avoiding this airport during the winter months in the future.
The flights are so outrageously expensive that you would be a fool to book it. Nearby Scranton, Elmira, and Syracuse offer more flights at a reasonable cost. The prices need to be lowered or I predict the airport will close. This is so sad. I cannot find a cheap flight to Chicago. They want over $400.00. That is ridiculous! The most overpriced airport in the country.
Only at the Binghamton international airport, serving the megatropolis of Binghamton, is one of the two daily flights delayed for hours because the fuel guy didnt come on to work today. Thats 50% of flights for the day grounded because they cant get the fuel guy on the horn. Just another reason this area is an embarrassment.
My experience is with the Budget car rental kiosk. Agent Sebastian had a real attitude problem with me when I asked to document the pre-existing bumper damage that was on the car so that Id have peace of mind that I wouldnt accidentally get charged for it. He was such a rude little man about it
This is definitely the BEST airport I have EVER seen in my whole life. And I have been at many airports. Ive used LAX (Los angeles) la guardian (nyc) jfk (NYC) sheremetevo (moscow) and out of all of these airports the greater binghampton is the best. I would give 10 stars if I could. This is more like a museum than an airport. Parking costs vey cheap only 1$ an hour for the first 2 hours. In LAX it costs 15$ an hour

2021-02-15I have been flying into this airport to visit family since I was a baby. Its a simple airport that is very easy to get in and out of. Theres not a lot to do here which is sad because I remember it much more active. I guess times have changed a little. If youre looking for an airport that can get you to your destination quickly with friendly staff this is the place. Will continue to fly into Binghamton when visiting family.

2022-04-12Great small airport. TSA is fast, easy, and very nice people. The terminal is always clean and the connections through Delta in DTW are much better than people realize. Love this little airport

2021-08-29Tiny airport with no food/beverage options other than vending machines (may be related to the pandemic?). Delta and TSA staff were all very, very friendly.

2020-02-11Delta and the people here are very friendly and helpful. I come here regularly and Im greeted by name. The fact they take the time like that is great. As an Airline Delta is fantastic and their customer service is great. The people at the ticket counter are helpful and friendly. Today Ive been stuck waiting on a delayed flight for five hours. But they brought out the snacks. Apologized and kept us informed. From time to time due to weather the airport has delays in the winter. Ill say this it doesnt happen often. LOL their are times an extra day home instead of work would be nice, but over years of experiance its a seldom thing despite being a smaller airport. TSA are great to. They are not rude and even those I see who make mistakes in their check luggage they are informative and considerate during their searches doing their job professionally. I just wish they could update the seats in the terminals. But all airports seem to be the same when it comes to terminal seatting.
