Very decent food and fairly pleasant staff. Food is consistently good. Its comforting to see consistently prepared veal parm whenever I come visit. Note: the bruschetta has abnormal amount of garlic on it and your mouth will smell/feel like garlic for the entire day. Thats good or bad depending on ur opinion on garlic.
We were on a weekend away trip and tried it due to the great reviews on Google. Its definitely an old school Italian joint. The food was OK, and the servings were big. The sauce was tasty and the bread was good. The Utica Greens appetizer was very salty. We ordered fried mozzarella, but it looked like they were just mozzarella sticks you can get in a store. The chicken parmesan was tasty. Prices seemed reasonable.
The food was outstanding!!! Atmosphere nice and cozy. Perfect for a nice dinner out. Service was the worst. We were a table of 2 out for a special occasion. Our server did not greet us for at least 10 minutes. She was taking care of two large parties that were sat after we arrived. I get it. She was in the weeds so to speak. However, what a terrible experience. Our drinks were not what we ordered. But we did not complain, 2nd drink order was wrong again. You have a gem of a restaurant we loved the food!!! Service was terrible.
Very nostalgic place!! Had reservations and was seated on time. Very quick with getting our drink orders delivered. Salads and bread came out timely, entree as well. Food was delicious, very nice portions. Prices are decent for the amount of food you get. Drawbacks were that we didnt get any follow up once we received our entrees. My beverage was empty half way through the meal and the waitress didnt return until after we were finished. Only other negative was there are no prices on their websites menu.
This place has been our go to in Cortland! Matt and team are just simply outstanding! Food, service, atmosphere, music, it all works like clockwork!Matt and delighted my new Cortland grad with a chocolate dessert with a wonderful candle! It was a wonderful meal and celebration made more so by The Green Arch! This place needs a 2x multiplier on the 5 stars! We’ll be back! Go Red Dragons!
We decided to give this place a try after seeing some of the dishes posted on Facebook. We showed up at the restaurant, got asked if we made reservations, and the hosts attitude immediately changed. We never saw any recommendations about making reservations, we gladly would have. The host said to come back another night. No waiting, no making a reservation later, the service just trying to get seated was poor. Would not consider trying to go back
Stopped through on my way home to Rochester this past Saturday and was treated to the best Italian food & steak Ive ever had. The steak was cooked perfectly and an absolute wow to their steak butter. Pasta was piping hot with a massive portion I had to take with me. (normally I dont eat left overs, but had to make an exception this time). The wait staff and hosts were so friendly and warm that it made me feel like I was a regular there for years. Overall great experience and I definitely will stop there anytime I make my way in that area!
We love the Green Arch! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is the friendliest around. We make it a point to go there every year for my birthday and every year is more incredible than the last. Our waitress, Maggie, has waited on us the last couple years and its like shes a part of the party now. Matt, the chef, outdid himself this year. The seafood risotto was fantastic and my girlfriend said her NY Strip was the best steak shes had anywhere, even better than from a steakhouse. I cant recommend the Arch strongly enough.
The food, the atmosphere, and the stellar service was simply amazing. I didnt catch the waitresses name but she made the whole experience that much better. Went here for an anniversary dinner date and have found a place that I will absolutely continue to dine in at. Thank you for a great experience.
Wonderful food!! The cheese board was excellent! Large portions for our dinner choices, but the chocolate decadent cake was extremely small. I will say it was extremely tasty though!Very homey atmosphere but with candles on the tables!Get there after the rush, as parking is a little tough.
I have been going here since I was a kid with my friends family. I have recently introduced my boyfriend to this devine restaurant, needless to say he cant get enough of this place! The service is always great, the food is excellent, an the drinks are on point as well. The atmosphere is also pleasant, nice relaxing music and still able to socialize. This is one of our favorites hands down!
This is THE place, the joint (as my VERY Chicago Father would have lovingly called it)... it operates like a well oiled machine, yet holds the nostalgia of yesteryear... the staff is endearing and truly has a vested interest in your dining experience.... the BEST ribeye I have enjoyed at restaurant in YEARS... if you are looking for exceptional food and service, at an amazing price point - it’s here... this will be a family staple for years to come, thank you for amazing food and conversation, being new to the area - you made us feel like old friends and you have no idea how much that meant to us... we will be back, sooner than later - The Hubs thoroughly enjoyed the leftovers!
Delightful service and delicious food. A tad pricey for traditional Italian fare, but my leftover chicken/eggplant parmesan made for a great lunch the next day. Im pushing 70 and the Green Arch Restaurant flashed me back to the tavern that my parents owned when I was a toddler. Theyre only open four nights a week and were packed when we visited on a Thursday, so be sure to make reservations.
Great food and great service. Staff is very friendly and is very responsive. My waitress Ashley was incredible and very kind treated my son as if he was one of her own. Definitely one of the nicer restaurants in the Cortland area with a lot of history. I will be back again!
Great place. Great food. Great service. Had never been before. Chose it simply because it was open late. Got a great meal. The menu isnt huge or hard to understand. But it is just about perfect. All the things a person could ask for. The food came quickly and was more than youd expect for a place in Cortland. The cook takes pride in what he/she does. This will be a staple in our lives from now on. Awesome place.
With it being under new management its a little rough. I did go when they first opened and the service was very slow. I talked to a coworker who went, waited thirty minutes, and they sat someone else. The food is still pretty good, but wheres the sauce? My dad was disappointed with the sauce to food ratio. Hopefully they will learn, but for the price of the food and the quality we will not be going back.
Fourteen of us arrived from a funeral. They had set up for us and could not have been more gracious. Our orders were taken quickly and the food arrived hot and all together. This is old fashioned Italian food like I remember from my childhood. Portions are huge and prices are right. Thank you !
After we heard that it was under new ownership we decided to give them another try. My husband and I where totally happy with the meal, thank God, we have a great restaurant again in Cortland NY and next time we will make reservations, the place was humming within the next 20 min. Keep up the great quality,we will definetly be back and bring our friends and family.....!
Have been to the Green Arch 3 times in a few months and the food always amazes me. I had the East End Chicken Riggies and they were amazing and sometimes as an appetizer you can get gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese that was like a taste of heaven. There is a broiled shrimp over a bed of spinach that we have ordered twice as an appetizer that just melts in your mouth. The crab cakes are wonderful also.Good job to Matt and crew, service great and the old fashions are as good as ever. Cant wait to go again ✌
I have been to this restaurant before with a very large group of people when it first opened last year. It was excellent. Today I went back for a friends birthday. I drove an hour to get to this restaurant an the food was amazing every dish we had was fantastic. I read a reveiw not enough sauce well there was enough and too many restaurants swamp their pasta or food with too much sauch. I had chicken Marsala and I dont normally like it from restaurants but this was the best servecd with shaved Brussle sprots and red blis potatoes. The portions are plenty that I split my meal with a frend and thought they made a mistake as with spilitting it was still large. It was a wonderful dining exeperience, service bar staff, decent wines, no waiting. But the food was out of this world so much better than Tioga county. And for me it was worth the drive to enjoy fabulous food with fantastic friends. I will be back
Im happy to see this iconic Cortland restaurant re-open. The food and service is top notch and the atmosphere has a friendly, classic retro vibe that is warm and inviting. The menu offer a variety of classic Italian American fare that is sure to please. The Green Arch will definitely be one of my favorite destinations when visiting Cortland.

2022-04-01A great place to eat or have a special dinner! The service is always great! The special tonight- Porcini filet mignon tips was fantastic! The owner takes pride in being hands-on. Last of its kind! This restaurant brings you back to the day when you should dress up, go out, and have a nice dinner. Great food, place to have a drink, and all at a reasonable price!I still highly recommend this restaurant!! They have different specials every weekend. I would recommend reservations, but the food and service are always fantastic! Please like the review if you found it helpful.

2022-03-27To get a table it s recommended to book in advance. As the restaurants opens at 5pm there was a group of people a few minutes ahead of time. I took the recommendation of a day, which was a cod on rice and a glass of red delicious wine, angellosomething:) 😃 idont remember the full name butit was definitely Italian, and smoother than Merlot. Stuff very friendly, food delicious !

2022-04-02Perhaps this was an off night. Let’s start with the positive: the waitress was lovely. Now, the negative: Without asking for a refund, my young niece informed the owner the shells were burnt, politely. He argued with her unnecessarily and was beyond rude. I had to step in- we were not even asking for a refund. Mind you, the person next to us, her food was also burnt and she complained. There were no raviolis, broccoli, or bread available. Furthermore, despite the owners nasty assumptions that we only waited 28 minutes (a fact he quickly stated defensively), we in fact waited over 45 minutes for our food (thank goodness we all sent a text when we ordered). The system went down, which might have accounted for his error, but he took no responsibility, opting to ‘mansplain’ why we were wrong. It was wholly inappropriate! And based on the lovely waitress, who seemed nervous, he treats his female staff the same. Moreover, the angel haired pasta with shrimp was also horrific, but we didn’t complain. The pasta was served in a soup bowl and was mush - it was more like a noodle soup than a pasta with jalapeños thrown in.

2022-04-19Ok. This place has amazing food.My family took me here for my birthday in March. We started off with the Bruschetta for an appetizer. It was amazing. I had Eggplant parmesan and my kids ordered Lasagna. Both Entrees were nothing less than delicious. The ambience is very nice . The lighting is soft and the service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive but not hovering. We will be going back.

2019-07-28Overall the restaurant was very nice and the staff was helpful and kind and easy going. Bathrooms were acceptable. Overall the food just wasn’t top notch. I added blue cheese crumbles to my salad and there were far too many. I ate most without salad. If you really love blue cheese crumbles maybe this is good!. Ordered veil and it was over cooked and tough. Also had an excessive amount of cheese on it. Prices however are excellent and extremely affordable. I would give it a second chance. (Editing my review to respond to the owner below. I remember my experience well. There are 8 photos below. You will see my heavily cheesed and well done veil. I was with several people. We experienced a wide variety of food and drinks.)

2021-10-22I had the pleasure of dining at the Green Arch for a second time tonight, and it was nothing less than stellar. My husband and I had chicken riggies and lasagna with meatballs. Both were perfect. Also, the fried mozzarella! Oh my goodness its fantastic. Id love to know if they cut it and bread it themselves. It sure tasted like it! Drinks were perfect as was the service. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

2019-08-23Wow. I cant say enough great things. My fiancee and I have been wanting to come here for quite some time and weve only heard the best reviews from friends. This place doesnt disappoint. Everything is home made, fresh, and delicious. Our picky eater loves chicken riggies, she tried these and she wants to come back for more. Im a chicken parmesan fanatic and this is in my top two. My fiancee grew up with an Italian chef for a Dad, she is impressed. We will be coming back for sure and we are going to make this our anniversary dinner spot.
