Atmosphere was nice but the service was poor. Felt we were bothersome and didnt get all our food when we ordered it. Took several times to get things that we politely asked for. Orderd the Wednesday special of unlimited pasta bowl and salad, never got the salad or any pasta refill and they never asked us if we needed more. The food tasted fantastic when we eventually got it.
Go somewhere else! My wife and I visited twice and will never return. I believe they hire inexperienced wait staff and have absolutely no customer service. Besides our terrible experiences we witnessed another table walk out and another consistently send food back and complain. My wifes food was cold and dry, she didnt eat it or take it home and was offered half off her pizza. My filet was bland and also the French onion soup. My beer was warm and because of our absentee waitress I used my ice water to chill it. When I explained this I was brought a new ice water... no beer. They only had 2 of the many beers listed. Ordered an appetizer and was told it was winter menu, new menu wasnt in yet. We were not offered another choice . I asked for bread and they might be out she said. No manager came around to ask about our complaints. I really like the atmosphere and hoped it would have been at least a mediocre experience. It was an absolute poor excuse for a restaurant.
Great place for a get-together, the wine and food are both fabulous! Try the late-harvest if you like sweet whites! My mom and I had a wonderful afternoon of wine tasting, charcuterie and house-made soups. Kim was a wonderful waitress and we will most certainly be back!
DO NOT GIVE THIS BUSINESS YOUR MONEY. We were served raw chicken in two different dishes. After being offered desserts for the table we suggested they compensate a bottle of wine on our check because not everyone wanted dessert. The bartender/manager was as rude to my mother as anyone Ive ever seen in the service industry in this type of setting for even suggesting this idea. We then requested to speak with her supervisor because of how rude she was when we finally met the owner, Tom Greenwood. He suggested that we were the type of people seeking a free meal after my father insisted to pay. Keep in mind they served raw chicken in two different dishes and all we wanted was one bottle of wine compensated because not everyone wanted dessert. This place is an absolute joke and Tom Greenwood and the bartender manager are two of the most disrespectful people Ive ever met working in the service industry. We are going to follow up in in all possible formats to tell other people because this was the worst dining experience we have ever had. I implore you to not give them your business.
Very sorry to say we had an unpleasant experience here tonight and probably wont return. My husband and I have been coming here for years, but tonight was the first time we and 2 guests waited 15 minutes to be seated, and over an hour for 3 salads and a sandwich. The chicken salad sandwich was swimming in mayonnaise and looked like it was no longer fresh. One of the ingredients in my grain bowl was almost certainly sitting in the fridge for too long-and tasted like it. I only noticed it once I got to the quinoa, so it was possibly that. But, having had to wait for so long, ate most of it. Salads came out without dressing. When I asked our server who the manager was, she explained it was herself and that several people had called in. The restaurant should not have opened tonight, or we should have been told at the start that they were extremely short staffed. Granted, we were comped the sandwich after complaint but it seems that this place is not what we originally came to like about Greenwood.
Decided to finally check out Greenwood after hearing good things from friends. Glad we did! Nice setting, very clean & cozy. Excellent, quick, friendly service. Nice menu options & tasty food, well prepared with fresh ingredients. Had live music near the bar. Will come back and try sitting outside around the inviting firepit once spring finally hits CNY.
Beautiful place, however...Unacceptable customer service, rather the lack thereof due to ownership not properly communicating and advertising tasting room hours. The bistro staff were also clueless about the tasting room hours as well. After waiting 30 minutes and it still wasnt open, we left. You lost business from six potential patrons. Poor service and sub par wine. Will never return and definitely not recommend.
The service has always been average at best but I used to really like the food here. Now that has gone down hill as well. I had a strawberry harvest salad that had one strawberry cut up and I paid extra to add chicken. The chicken they put on it was that pre-cooked processed stuff that you buy in the frozen section at the grocery store! We also ordered a cheese platter that was sub-par. They used to serve a very nice variety of different types cheeses and mustards. This was very simple. Additionally, they are open until 9pm but at 8pm they shut off the music and everyone was cleaning up. By 815 we were so uncomfortable we just left. This place used to be so much better. I keep giving it a chance bc I like the outside but it might be time to throw in the towel.
The setting is very inviting and the service was great but the pepperoni pizza was horrible. About 1/20 of an inch thick dough and dripping in so much oil that the pizza was nothing but soggy dough with no flavor. French onion soup and salad were good but dont order a pizza
3 of my girlfriends and I went here for our very first experience, and although we truly enjoyed the atmosphere, the service we received was horrible. Starting with the host, we understand it was a Friday night and very very busy, but was no excuse. The host was rude, the bartender was rude, I wanted a glass of Moscato and the bartender said we dont have it and threw me a wine list and walked away. Instead of offering me something similar. Then we ordered dinner and although the food was good, my one friend ordered a hamburger and it was raw!!! She sent it back and the rest of us were done eating and she finally got a replacement, received our check and was not compensated at all for their mistake!
The wine was mediocre at best. Food was sub par. I ordered filet medallions for $22 and received one extremely over cooked piece of meat... the kitchen recooked but it was still over cooked and definitely was not filet. There was no offer made to discount my food at all....Bottom line the live music was ok but would NEVER go back for dinner.
Party of 22 for Ladies Night Out for our friend getting married! Wonderful experience! Food was delicious, amazing, reasonable menu! Looking forward to coming back on a Friday night for live music. Thank you Robin for setting up a fun, delicious gathering for us. Waitresses were great!!
6 of us went here for wine tastings. (5 plus 1 DD) The winery was closed for an event but we were told we could sample at the bar next door.Went to the bar. The owner kindly gave us room at the bar and the bartender was very nice. We ended up getting flights and sitting outside around the fire pit. However, none of us liked any of their wines. Not one. We sent back a cabernet that tasted like vinegar. The bartender opened a new bottle but the new cab still tasted like vinegar. Sent it back again and switched for port. The port was watery.I personally like sweeter wines and I wasnt fond of any of the wines I got. I passed on a wine that said it should have been sweet but was more bitter like my companions liked.I understand tastes differ but there were 5 of us with 4 wines each and none of us liked any of our wines. We had gone to two other wineries that day and this was our last stop. We all said wed probably never return for the wine.
The harvest time is now upon us in upstate NY with the freshest of apples, squash , tomatoes and pumpkins. This winery in East Syracuse makes the best of their food dishes using the freshness of these fruits and vegetables. Their chef Kevin gives his creative flare to punctuate the perfect dish in these Fall months . I loved the harvest salad and butternut squash soup that was served by Claire with her warm personality.and pleasant smile . Thank you for a yummy and lovely lunch .Eve
We met friends for dinner tonight and were very disappointed not only with our service but especially with our meals! Most of us were done and finally the last meal came to the table. This is our first time in your restaurant and its definitely our last time. We will not be recommending your establishment to anyone.
Went there for March featured specials last weekend. The featured menu offered a sampler platter, with 5 items to choose from, two of which they did not have available at the time. The special was that you get 3 for $12, or 5 for $20. Since were wanted the 5 items, 2 which they didnt have, were were told that we could double up on 2 items to make up for it. So, we did that...and ended up with 3 small portioned items at witch at they wanted to charge us $40, (that was corrected, were charged $20), but should have been charged $12, because of the portion size! (We didnt say anything, because we did not want to wait another half hour for appetizers.) Definitely did not double the portion size! There obviously was too much confusion going on between the new menu special, and the cook not being prepared??,.. also, the new waitresses & bartenders were pretty clueless...Hopefully, things get better, because I used to like this place, but not a good experience for frequent flyers there! Sorry!
I would have scored my experience with 5 stars had they not charged me $6 for too-little tastings despite my $100 purchase of wines. A small courtesy that a new company can/should extend to new customers who theyd like to see come back. Otherwise, the staff and the experience was quite enjoyable.
Wonderfuly Experiential! From the service to the beautiful and relaxing outdoor patio to the warm, friendly service...everything was superb. I loved their seared jumbo scallops! Cant wait to go back! Just what I was looking for...a truly great place tucked away in a vineyard setting in Syracuse!
A seriously dysfunctional restaurant. Were talking Kitchen Nightmares level of bad. The owner is rude, entitled, and clueless. He argues negative reviews on their Facebook page for Christs sake. If I worked there I would honestly be embarrassed. Its a shame because the location is beautiful.
The owner (Tom Greenwood) was extremely rude, disrespectful, verbally abused and threatened my family and I, threw our credit card in the trash, and made us leave! Well never be back, and I encourage other people to think twice before giving him any business. Note: It was a good time until we waited 1 1/2 hours for ONE cheese pizza and simply asked for a refund. He was angry and unreasonable within the first 30 seconds of our conversation. He thought we wanted a free pizza *(which was $16, by the way)! But thats not the case. We had purchased, in total, around $100 worth of food and drink before this occurred, and were not belligerent or disrespectful to him or anyone else, and in fact gave the full pizza back to him so that he knew it wasnt about money (which was when he threw our credit card in the trash (we have witnesses)).
I wanted to give less than three but more than two stars. I was disappointed. I seen the advertisments and really wanted to try it. I was not impressed because the menu was very limited. The food was mediocre. The prices are fair and the service at the bar was fine. Its just one of those things I wanted to try something different and when we were done I knew we would not make a special trip out of our own area to go back.
Calamari was served cold and as many peppers on the plate as calamari. Cheese flatbread was very tasty. Lemon berry cake was large and tasty. When I asked Andrea (waitress) for s&p she brought a DIRTY set that was plugged up. When I pointed it out to her, she took them back in, and walked back out with the same filthy set! I hve a picture if they are interested.
Great little spot with NYS everything. I picked up bottle of Red Barn Cabernet for a really low price and its really decent. Food was great as I stopped in just by myself. Had the Turkey/Avacado sandwich which tasted great with the wine. The menu was a fair price as well. Its really nice to see more places like this support NYS Local. Pretty worth the money.
My office set up a reservation at 645. The 6 of us showed up at 645. At 655 a lady finally comes up to us and says:Waitress -sorry, were too busy to seat you.Me- we have a reservation under Schoos.Waitress oh, the 645 reservation.Me- yes, thank youShe looks at the screen and says yeah, were still too busy to seat youMe- What about that table set up for 6 right there?Waitress- you can sit there if you want, but, it will be a half hour before anyone will even come over to take a drink order, maybe we can be quicker, but other people showed up here before you that we werent expectingWe of course walked out. Why even take reservations. There were 2 open tables that would have fit our group.

2018-07-07Nice, local winery with a wide selection of their own wines, as well as a full-menu restaurant for all tastes, including vegetarian and vegan options.Entree items are moderately priced and portion are appropriately sized. The soups and seafood are particularly good.Live music special events run in the warmer months at an outdoor stage behind the Tasting House.Worth a visit!

2019-01-19The food was really good. Neither of us really loved our wines, but that is not to say they were bad, just not our taste. I would heartily recommend giving this place a try.

2017-05-06Started with the stuffed mushrooms (yum) then moved on to the NY Strip with veggies and mashers. Amazing prep and flavor on the steak! The accent of onion and green chilies kicked it up a notch without compromising the flavor of the beef. The mashers were simply perfection. Pared the whole thing with a 4 flight of their best wines (surprisingly good) and finished it of with a chocolate mousse confection that has a tart raspberry drizzle. The balance and complexity was on the mark. I highly recommend this place and Ill be back since I travel to Syracuse regularly.

2018-08-30I love the atmosphere & service here! The employees are nice & the patio is a lovely place to sit on a summer night, especially since they have a fire pit. I love the flatbreads too!

2019-05-31Let me preface this by saying that I am rarely one to complain. I never send food back unless its totally wrong, and am not one to be bothered easily by mediocre service.Ive been here twice. The first time I ordered a Prime Rib on special. I ordered medium rare and it came out well done. They brought me another piece and it was equally well done. This was all after waiting about 20 minutes for drinks and an hour for food. The 2nd time was with a group of ~30 people for a catered dinner buffet. They ran out of chicken before the last 5 or so people could get any. We were told by the manager that they cook one piece for each person and that our group took too much to eat - and that we should lower our expectations of how much food is to be served at the price that they gave us. When speaking with the owner, he echoed this sentiment in an annoyed tone and told us maybe we should go somewhere else next time. Perhaps he should list the price for the buffet to be 10-20% higher if he cant afford to feed all the guests. This level of arrogance and rudeness is truly astounding. I can assure you that all 30 of our guests will not be giving this person business in the future, and that we will spread the word on how we were treated. Thanks for ruining our rehearsal dinner. Also, the wine here is pretty awful.

2019-02-24The place was nice aesthetic wise. Our server was also spot on. The food was pretty terrible. Not consistent at all. No flavor. This hamburgers we are talking about here. Usually I would care. But when you are charging 17 bucks for hamburgers and fries, it better be cooked the right way with some great flavors. This experience was not that. Too bad. Because I really wanted to like this place, as it is beautiful inside and the staff is great, at least from my experience.

2019-05-31DO NOT plan any events at this establishment. Staff, management right up to the owner have no idea how to run a restaurant. In what universe do you provide a buffet for 29 people and only make 29 pieces of chicken? Two people at our event, the father of the groom and the father of the bride did not get any chicken or greens. When we asked them to refill the tray, we were told that they made plenty of food and that our guests must have taken too much! Before leaving a negative review I wanted to speak to the owner first. They had had issues with turnover of staff and management so I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and a customer’s perspective on our experience. After half a minute on the call I could tell that the owner Tom Greenwood, had no intention of even entertaining my phone call as constructive. He was arrogant and rude and was not the least bit apologetic. He dared to inform me that we paid per person and it is a one-time trip through the buffet line. That is laughable! Tom Greenwood needs to stick to Real Estate Management since it is obvious he knows nothing about being a Restaurateur.

2019-04-30A few weeks ago my sister and a few friends met for dinner at Greenwood as we’re looking for a place we could relax and hear each other! We are tired of going to places that are so busy and noisy that you can’t even hear the person sitting next to you. For my sister and friends this was a first time visit for them. We ordered a couple of flat bread and some soups and salads along with a small scallop plate. The food was delicious and homemade too! The service was spot on! Everyone was friendly and very detailed with their service. I recommend this restaurant as a place to go to relax and enjoy some nice food in a relaxed and cozy environment. Remember to have the apple crisp too!

2019-04-15Wine is good and I cant speak for food but the managerial service leaves a lot to be desired. Any customer service/tasting room employees have been good. However, I had tried to hold an event at this venue and initially plans were made and everything was fine- we knew their bistro was closed on that day but they were allowing us to bring outside food. We had this all in writing. About two weeks before the event, they completely flipped and said we could not bring outside food and that the entire venue was closed and tried to make us feel as though we were causing a terrible inconvenience and were just overall very rude.If you want some OK wine or a (probably) nice meal, by all means check out Greenwood, but dont try to do anything spectacular here.

2018-03-08Food was excellent. Server was very pleasant. Truly enjoyed everything we ordered. Ordered dessert to go and did have to wait quite awhile to receive that but all was good. The only thing I didnt like was how low you sat when in a booth and how snug you were against the table. Other than that, the atmosphere was great.
