When I called the guy who answered was very nice, but didn’t even know the place’s location.Despite having a sign outside advertising a really good sports bar type wing special “all night long” on a Friday night, when we arrived around 1am the kitchen was fully closed for the night. There’s a pool table in the back room and the staff were generally friendly, but I wouldn’t recommend this spot and don’t think I’ll go back. It seems like they need to get it together.
Rachel, the bartender was nice, and it was pretty empty on a Sunday afternoon, except some smaller groups and a Zog sports team. Theres a back room, where they host comedy shows. They have 16 beers on tap, which is a good mix, but if you dont like to experiment they seem to only have Coors, Narragansett, and Guinness. Theres a dart board, arcade, and an e-jukebox. Rachel mentioned something about a pool table, but I dont recall seeing it. Beers are approximately $7 - 9.
The location and the facade of the bar with the name of the bar somewhat gives me an idea if what kind of crowd I would be expecting and the environment and prices I should expect and then u enter and all Logic and past notions are thrown out the window because its the exact opposite. The crowd is actually a white suburban college educated middle.class crowd and the prices are pricier than a trendy upscale restaurant. I paid 8/dollars for a stella, which is more expensive than some fine dining eateries in Manhattan. So with that a person would expect a refurbished chic interior but then once again the total opposite. So now web are all sitting in a old hike in the wall interior looking line a small college then local. At in upstate NY and old sports some colorless pictures hang randomly all over those cracked uneven chipped walls that surround an average looming bar with a part if the walk fikkd in with colored chalk as their drink menu. The store then winds out into a hallway into the back room that is painted black completely empty empty cheap old flat screen tv playing the news over a leather 1991black leather couch that use to be cool and in the corner I find what I was expecting all along. 2/yiung black teenagers in oversized white Ts drinking alone watching TV. I laughed at the insanity of the start of 2020/and welcome its twist.
Usually when I go to a sports bar I dont expect to be impressed by the food. I expect adequate. However, I was surprised today when I dined at Grill on the Hill. The steak tacos were delicious! My party had an assortment of wings of different flavors. They were all awesome. The fries were light, crispy and well seasoned. This place was a pleasant surprise. And the kind and friendly waitress made our experience even better! This is definitely now on my faves list.
Great weekly special. Every day is a different special so you never get bored. TVs always the sport games happening and drinks Special along with it. Covid precautions. Tempurature check for customers to make sure and 6 feet away social distancing applied. Hand sanitizers available by entrance and bathrooms. Every table are separated by plastic dividers.
Its basically my little neighborhood dive bar. Nice, clean and cozy with your favorites songs on the juke box. The service is pretty good but the food is probably the best part, try the different flavored chicken wings... Ive had them all and theyre all good 😋👌🏿💯 ohh, do yourself a favor and get one.. or maybe two of those strawberry daiquiris, trust me... youll thank me later❗😏🤙🏿 Ohh, I almost forgot about the secret pool table they have in the back. So come by, you just might spot me here ❗🤦🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️❤️ Bon Appetit 👌🏿
I went on a Thursday the 50¢ wing day yet the bartender says its only orders of 8??Ok so the 50cent wing deal is just to get you in¿ Hella confusing. I asked for my chicken to be dropped again 🥴 she never brought them back. Its usually a great experience. She apparently was new to the occupation in its entirety so Ill try again in two weeks on a Thursday and see if she got it together.
This is the best bar in Hamilton Heights period. It’s your standard sports bar with great bartenders a great food menu and good music! The owner can be seen there all the time and it seems like the place is really well kept. It makes a difference to know that your local watering hole gets some TLC from the management! It’s never too crowded, just right!
This spot was delicious and hearty. They had a very good craft beer selection. Order the flights, you get more bang for the buck. The crew was very friendly, Jessie the waitress was spontaneous and fun and correct with her recommendations. Cone hungry they just changed their menu. The appetizer were filling by its self.Definitely going back. Gonna have to try the Sunday brunch.
My son personally served us so graciously which makes me so very proud and happy. His co-workers were so glad to meet us. The food was very scrumptiously delicious. We were very happy to meet his friends and co-workers too. My sons customer based skills as a waiter and bartender definitely charmed our experience as guests and extremely proud parents!
First of all this place is a decent bar that servers also food!If you going for a food it usually takes longer and its not something special! The food isnt that great! Their appetizers are good and the drinks are pretty good with decent price tag! Cool place to hang out after work!
I had the 50 cent wings and some kind of Stella type beer. The wings were super duper tiny but the sauce was amazing Thai chili. The bartender wasn’t outstanding, but tolerable. The highlight for me was the music. Old and new hip hop and then the game was also on. Better wings would’ve made this a 5
Good drink and food specials happening.everyday, sports, tv and one ofmthe only place doing the.12 midnight closing time curfew.Sporty bar benches, high chaitsnand lounge area with pool table that is not available during quarantine. But hope they ll let you play there safely in group of 6 soon. I guess that can be rented as a private space for your private party, birthday or something like that if college bar and sport is your theme. The food can be better. The wings and chicken tenders are safe picks. The 5 dollars beers and cocktails special in different days and free wings if you buy one on certain days does make it worth your trip there. And if you love sports and watching a game there are tv showing where ever you are seating. If not the jude box is with an app you can download and play the song of your choice on the playlist others also put there songs on the queue.Outside seatings available until 11pm. Sanitizer.at.your disposal and temperature check when you enter. Defined capacity and social distancing of the tables with the booths lined with clear vynils separator. Following the covid19 safety guidelines and recommanded place to visit.
Theres been a few bars open in the area lately. This one is my favorite, for being fun and laid back. It has good food, friendly staff, a good happy hour and an easy vibe with fun music. If you happen to be sitting at the bar, watch what seems like the bartenders disappear into the floor. They move fast and theres a hatch they climb into to get to the cellar. The Chicken wings have great sauces (I loved the Garlic Parmigiana) and Thursday happy hour makes it easy. The only reason why I havent gone back in a hurry is that I eat and drank too much when Im there. Ill go back and get photos to add.
I like this sport bar , college bar feel. They just changed the menu. The price needs to go down cause food I tried was not good. But the beers were and the bar girls are amazingly friendly and good at what they do and patrons I was with liked how they are treated at the bar. So yes even if Im too demanding on my food ( I remember posting on my Facebook where was my damn chicken wings I ordered lol but it was super busy and why it took a while) the entire experience was good. Me likey.
Fire the mgr. WARREN...rude ...nasty and unnprofessisonal......thanks for NOTHING Grill on the Hill.I am truly ashamed if you are Blacked owned ...he needs to be retrained or replaced and he hung up on me after I complained about my late order. He could lie but I was recording the entire conversation....never again Grill ...never again.
Great staff and atmosphere. Was visiting in the area and stopped in after a recommendation by a local. Wasnt disappointed. Didnt try the food but the drinks where on point and the specials arent bad. Sarah is a beast and a talent. She maned the whole bar on a busy night and didnt miss a step. All they need now is a pool table. Will be back on my next visit.
Friendly neighborhood bar in Hamilton Heights directly adjacent to City College. Lively and vibrant staff, I remember when this place opened in 2015. It brought light to an otherwise unused and dark corner. As a City College employee the last 6 years we definitely appreciate Grill on the Hill. Sadly I was there for a sendoff, I just accepted a promotional title at Corrections Dept and will be leaving CUNY after the holiday weekend. Some of my coworkers were good enough to send me off in style. Thanks for everything G.O.T.H.!
My food was brought out from the kitchen, given to the only bartender, and he left it at the end of the bar while he had to make 5 other drinks before remembering it was there. Had it still been warm, I think the food would have been good. Great job for kitchen and bartender, terrible job for management in staffing the bar appropriately
Nice intimate pub style space. Has a game room with billiards and lounge space in the back. Descent drink specials and appetizers menu. If you order food dont sit at the bar. The bathroom is adjacent and the smells coming out of there will be wafting over your buffalo wings lol
Tried this place out last night and my order arrived 30 minutes after the expected time. I tried calling the restaurant but they proceeded to pick up and quickly hang up. In response, I called seamless/GrubHub, and they told me the delivery guy was on his way even though my order was marked as delivered around 20 minutes before I called. After arriving the delivery guy decided to try to have a conversation explaining that I was at fault because I did not pick up the phone meanwhile I had no missed calls and I had literally just seen him dial my phone number. I thought hey besides hanging up the place isnt at fault, so I just ate my food. I saw that the $10 fries were very few and as I bit into my jumbo wings the meat was still raw! This place was definitely not worth it, it is overpriced and not worth the money, I would recommend skipping this place.
A dive? A college bar? Who cares. They sling booze and bar eats. Its exactly what youd expect. Get there before 7 for happy hour otherwise $8 a beer??? This isnt midtown.... Music is loud and so are the patrons. If youre looking for quiet, head to The Grange where the beer is the same price.
*VERY GOOD NEIGHBORHOOD BAR*Hi Guys, its me Robert the Elevator Guy Again.I was looking for a nice place to have lunch break. On duty w/my partner after fixing 3 elevators. Was going to go to The Grange (Google suggested). But ended at The Grill on the Hill, glad I did. Which is located across from The Grange. Grange looked a little stuffy n no TV. The Grill is about 600sf in the front. I didnt go to the back where the Pool Table & Games were. The front room had 7 TVs. Which I appreciated, Round 2 March Madness was on. I did like the long picnic table in the middle. Extended for about 20.The Food was very good. Regular bar food. I had a burger, maybe 7oz after cooking. Fries tasted as if from fresh cut potato n were piping hot. But it was already salted, a No No. I had asked for cole slaw, didnt get it. They said they were out, another demerit. They did have 16 draft beers. Perfectly chilled. My server was Dave, A cool guy.
The best local in Harlem, and, arguably, the best best wings on Manhattan. But for real, GOTH has amazing service and the food and friends (even if you dont know them yet), around. So proud to bring friends here from around the city and country; everyone feels at home.
Went there yesterday night for a drink and food. The food there was possibly the worst I ever seen, I ordered the avacado fries(which the avacado was non-existent), wings which was so dry and bland, and the spinich tasted Abit weird. However the beer was very cold and amazing.
Awesome staff, Great Food 1 and only super fantastic events everyday day of the week! We will be collaborating every Tues to give Hamilton Grange the best Silent Disco Hush Parties Ever! Make sure you join us every Tuesday! Follow @QuietRiotsEvents on IG for details! See you all there! ❤🎧❤
I really hate giving out 5 stars so easily but this place has some solid beer choices (ipas for me, budlight for others), decent bar food (wings, burgers, nachos, etc), and the bartenders/servers were all super friendly..even to my rowdy zog football team on a Sunday afternoon. They even had beer pong and flip cups set up in the back room! Only problem was that I ended up drinking a little too much and then had to take a cab to the subway to a bus to a 1/2 mile walk home which took way too long. But I dont blame Grill on the Hill for that.

2022-06-10Best sports bar at the neighborhood. Staff is very friendly, atmosphere is nice, service is quick. We ordered appetizers to share and all were tasty and crisp. I would highly recommend their red sangrias 🍷 and Johhny Walker Blue Shots 🥃

2022-05-18Great for a bar date or with a group of friends for small bites and beer/happy hour mixed drinks (dont expect cocktail bar quality though). More of a dive bar feel, but pretty well lit. They have trivia nights (Wednesday I think?) that are really fun to go to with a group to order a bunch of their finger food specials ($5 onion rings, fries, wings, mozz sticks, etc.). Seating at the bar or tables. Theres a pool room in the back.

2021-07-29My cheese burger was cooked to perfection; medium, not medium well or medium rare. Just plain ole medium. It was so good, I ate it without any condiments. The food was so full of flavor. Ill definitely be back. The bartender was nice as well.

2022-06-02Ive been there several times and each time I am disappointed in the quality of mixed cocktails. Food is okay. There is a cool music box with tons of selections. Always a mix crowd of 20 somethings to late 40s.

2021-04-12I really like it here!Looking forward to football szn bc they have so many TVs to watch, I think 7? There’s a section for outdoor seating that is also very lovely; looking forward to that as well. But to the things I really liked! Every employee I saw was black 🖤 the music was a whole vibe, very black 🖤🖤 The drinks were good and the food was too! Something as simple as loaded fries can be disappointing when the toppings are frail or too cheap but the bacon cheddar fries were especially good: good bacon and shredded cheese, not the sauce!

2022-05-22I heard so many good things about this place so I decided to try it. I was disappointed. The drink wasnt balanced, the ticket time for the food was very long. I had to pay for my drink and walk out. I wont be back

2022-06-11Wings are good but the service is bad. 1 employee per shift so youll either be waiting for a while or you have to go to the employee to order. Tables are dirty and sticky. Only good thing about this place is their deals.

2022-06-15Best bar in Harlem. No nonsense, good drinks and their chicken wings are worth the wait. Shoutout to Warren!

2020-07-28Went there to watch the US Open Tennis. Beer selection was good, but the Caesar Salad was rather disappointing. The chicken was as dry as shoe leather, and instead of Romaine lettuce, cheap Iceberg lettuce was used. Thats a major fail. Anyway, the people behind the bar were great. Some of the customers there were regulars, so it has the nice neighborhood vibe. I guess people go there not necessarily for the food, but to hang out.
