I placed an order for pickup via ChowNow (link through Google maps) at 5:36pm. It said that my order would be ready around 6:22pm. I thought it strange that an order for pickup would take the same amount of time as delivery, but I assumed maybe it was busy. I arrive on time to get my order and the hostess asks my name. I tell her and she informs me that shell let me know when its ready. At 6:45pm I ask the hostess how much longer because I had someone watching my children just so I could come pick up this order. She asks me what I ordered. I tell her 1 order of flautas, 1 order of guac and 1 order of elote. She goes to the kitchen and tells me theyre working on it right now and asks if I want anything to drink while I wait. I check on seamless how long the wait is for delivery. Its estimated at 30-40minutes. At 7:02pm the hostess comes back and asks again what I ordered. I tell her to just cancel my order because its been too long and I have to go back. She asks me to wait one more second and goes back into the kitchen. She finally hands me my food with a smile. The food was okay. I was not impressed. It was NOT worth the wait. I wasnt offered any compensation, discount, free dessert or anything of the sort. I am disappointed at the quality of service and food Ive received. I dont usually complain much because Ive worked in restaurants in the past, but this is unacceptable. I could have had a a full dine-in meal in the time that I waited for pickup... Twice! Ive attached pictures of what I ordered. (I did receive the toppings for the flautas on the side along with chips for the guac).
The food here was very fresh and really tasty. I recommend the homemade corn tortillas - they were fantastic! I had the vegetable quesadilla and it was packed with fresh veggies and seasoned well. Margaritas were refreshing and perfectly balanced, not too sweet. The only reason Im not giving five stars is because our table was seated and we waited 20-25 minutes with no one coming over to ask if we wanted anything. My friend had to get up and get someones attention, and even then it took a few more minutes for someone to take our drink and appetizer orders.
The service here was excellent. Everyone was attentive and friendly. The guacamole was good and they had different types to choose from. It came in a small bowl and Im not sure if it is made to order or not. They bring you chips with three different types of salsas to the table , all of which are pretty good.As for most Mexican restaurants that dont explicitly state otherwise , their rice and retries beans are not vegetarian , which makes it harder to order a vegetarian meal here. They do have several vegetarian options but you have to make sure to tell them not to include rice or retries beans. This is a great place to get Mexican food, especially if you have no dietary restrictions. If you are vegetarian, you are better off going someplace with more options.
SO,. .its called Guacamole NYC so I decided to have the traditional Guac...AND IT DISAPPOINTED....say lime cilantro onions and tomatoes its tasted like nothing didnt even have salt!... But they quickly made up for it with the Chicken Chimchanga it was good!!! Wasnt dry presentation was nice had some accents of pico de Gallo and the guac overall not that bad.
Great placed Just happened to be in the area and stopped in for a nice cold beer and a bite to eat. I have to tell you the guacamole was definitely on point, we was seated in the outside patio that was very Cousy it had a great feel to the place . I definitely recommend it . I will be coming back to eat and try a few things next time.
The food was really good, i ordered the classic tacos, each one with a different meat, they were really tasty although they were in the spicy side on its own, no sauce needed. I also ordered the coconut mojit and it was great! My only disappointment was the guacamole, it was really bland and in my opinion it was not worth $15 dollars!
What a great place to hangout with friends. The service was AMAZING. No joke the service was great. Everyone there is very much a team player. Good to see that. My waiter was spectacular. Really knew his stuff. The food was great and drinks too. Yum yum yum. A must go to place
Was going back and forth between 4 stars and 5 stars on this one. Food was amazing, staff and service were great. I probably had one of the greatest chicken quesadillas of my life at this place and the size of it was huge… and I love big portions. However, Im going with 4 stars because despite the large portion, I STILL felt this place was a bit pricey. Everything is probably about $2 or $3 more than it needs to be.If this was like many other Mexican restaurants where they provided free and unlimited chips and salsa on the table, that would make it 5 stars for me. Then I could at least feel a LITTLE bit better about the high prices because in the end, Id be receiving more food.My quesadilla was $17. Thats on par with maybe a burger and fries from another place… but thats the thing -- a burger AND FRIES… This was just the quesadilla and nothing else. But it was still delicious and I wouldnt hesitate to come back. Really great spot.As a bonus, this place has the stamp of approval from @nutfreeinNYC!
I had a feeling the dinner was going to be bad after they served a guacamole appetizer. The guacamole had been pre-made and came cold from the refrigerator. In addition, too much onion and nothing much else. The main courses also not good. The chicken enchilada had over-cooked, dried chicken in it. Not sure, but I think I was over-charged but didnt have the receipt so cant say for sure. I should have known better since the restaurant was pretty empty on a night when most restaurants are full.
One of my go-to restaurants on the West Side -- excellent food beautifully presented, with a friendly staff and a bartender who makes excellent drinks. Ive eaten here before, during, and after the pandemic, mostly at a table for 2 with my wife but often with friends and family. Most recently I hosted a group of 12 in the newly remodeled outdoor patio in the restaurants backyard. They have a sidewalk pandemic-era outdoor section, a festive indoor space, and the patio is lovely. No matter the size of the party, you are treated with courtesy. Did I say I love the staff? I love the staff. (Equally as much as I love the food.) This restaurant has been through many iterations over the years. It went from an excellent Argentinian steakhouse to a meh Mexican restaurant -- Pampa, La Rural, Fridas. We almost gave up on it until the space opened as Guacamole, and this one is a winner!
Solid. The fried chicken bites with tajín and chipotle mayo are delicious, and worth coming back for on their own. We also liked the chicken enchiladas (though the takeout container takes away from the experience a bit) and pork al pastor tacos (flavorful but maybe a little bit dry).
I ordered 3 chicken tacos for 18 dollars after taxes(advertised for 15) to go , extremely expensive for the little chicken they put in the tacos, i was expecting something special for that price. They dont offer napkins and ustensils with their order, also they will bring you a check expecting you to leave tips for a take out order. I work hard for my money, i felt like i got ripped off.
Love this spot. Very good food, the service was friendly and welcoming. The coconut margarita was a tricky drink, tasted great, sneaks up on you when you least expect it. I highly recommend it if youre into that kind of drink. The Guac was really good, I guess it had to be if its their namesake. Only thing I could complain about was we made a reservation for the outdoor space, only to find out it was closed due to inclement weather the night before. All in all, its definitely worth the visit!
This place is so nice. I work for the Department of Health and needless to say I was looking to see if they were clean. Place was spotless. Our bartender Henry was amazing. He made the best margaritas Ive ever had, and he have us some shots as well. He was very attentive, super nice, and pleasant to deal with. Ive ordered food from there to pick up from lunch so I knew the food was good, but I never tried their drinks. Ill definitely be back!
I used to love this place. Until today, me and my friends wanted to celebrate a birthday here and asked twice if botomless brunch is available. They said yes. (It was also on their website). We get to the place and they say no botomless available. We ask to speak to the manager and he refuses to come out. People were rude and they do false advertisement
If I could leave 0 stars I would. One, they were receiving a citation from the city when my family & I arrived. We still decided to support the small business & stay. Upon sitting we were told someone would be with us shortly.. while we sat for 30 minutes we seen employees were touching chairs and tables with the same gloves they were delivering food and drinks with.. the table across from us had dirty silverware and glassware that was there before we sat.. during Covid.. dangerous and YUCK. We decided at that point wed only get drinks. However we werent able to get anything because they were too busy conversing and playing with each other. After speaking to the manager who was clearly in the kitchen but decided to not wear a mask, we had it and left. Service was HORRIBLE and whatever health mystery they have will soon be uncovered. DISGUSTING.
Ok so i never even write reviews because Im lazy but oh my god I stopped here after needing a drink after a long day and ended up getting food and dessert and a mojito. Everything was so delicious and everyone was soooooo nice and so attentive. Vivien took care of me and she was so sweet and beautiful too! I just moved to the area and tried a lot of spots around but this one put them all to shame !!!! 💞💞💞
The food was amazing. Full of flavor. Some slight heat but not to bad compared to the great taste it has. I had the chicken enchiladas, my husband had the chicken burrito, and they were both so good. The margaritas were really good. Clean and organized. Food arrived at a reasonable time. Waited 10 minutes for food after ordering, but then again it was lunch time around 12:30. People started strolling in around 1. On tuedays they have taco tuesday, $2 a taco. Thursdays they have $4 margaritas, frozen or on the rocks. Great place.
Absolutely phenomenal!! was not expecting this to be as amazing as it was! started with the traditional guacamole and it was perfect, then we had the tamale which was just as amazing. the pork tostada was full of flavor and delicious! The shrimp fajitas were amazing. great margaritas! a fun, clean, friendly local restaurant. I would 100% reccomended, this is the real deal!!!
So this was my second attempt and I really want to like this restaurant because its in my neighborhood and the former place that occupied the space had such great memories for me. However the first time my son and I waited over an hour for my entree and the shrimp was not cooked enough. The second time I went back I also had a problem with my order and with my bill. You guys better get it together this is a competitive town!
Yummm. These people know how to make a delicious burrito. I love that they deliver. But even better is eating it there. They have taco Tuesdays and practically fun deals every day. And live music too. And it doesnt hurt that the male and female bartenders are cute and fun to talk to too.
The food is amazing! Along with the rest of the meal, the empanadas were the best I have EVER had. Nothing frozen or phony about the food. The drinks are incredible. The staff is really friendly providing wonderful service and the decor is gorgeous. Restaurants come and go in this spot I really hope they stick around for a while.
So disappointed! I ordered something they call “ensalada fresca” that was everything but fresh, the mixed greens looked like they were left out of temperature for hours! I love pomegranate but this one was smashed not crispy, the sauce was off! Honestly I think the sold me a mistaken salad that was about to be thrown out. Awful.
Horrendous service. Have been here for over 30 minutes waiting on a takeout order. We got our order initially after waiting for over 20 minutes past the time it said it would be ready. The order was wrong, so now we’re back and have been told it will take another 15 minutes to make a veggie burrito. Can’t imagine the food will be worth the hassle and frustration.
What a great find this place was. It just openned a few weeks ago and it is off to a great start. We stopped in for a Saturday lunch and made a great day even better. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about each dish. The food was great and large portions, we took the leftovers home...We definitely will be back!
Well that was disappointing. How excited were we to find a 4.2 star Mexican restaurant 2 blocks from our apartment. Super friendly staff, great atmosphere (adorable back patio), but the food was...really bad. The $12 guac was tasteless, the Mexican rice had frozen peas and carrots in it (is that authentic?), the enchilada tortillas were soggy and the taco salad was just meh. Sigh - should have walked the extra block to Chipotle.
Let me tell you this place I absolutely LOVE!!! However, the prices are a bit too high, but Im vegetarian and the food here ROCKS!!! There is only 1 reason I gave it 3 stars, there is 1 rude waitress that never smiles at the 214th street location. But I frequent this place a lot. Usually for lunch. But Ive had dinner a number if times too. Food is fresh and delicious. I recently moved out of state but when I come to N.Y. I only think of this place!!!
Not so much! Stingy portions and TERRIBLE sauces.Ok first the good news, the goat tacos and the queso fundido were very good although the queso was 50% sausage. Good sausage but it competed with the tasty baked/melted queso. The bad news: Contrary to some reviews I read, (maybe the night I went , it was a different cook) were TINY! The namesake guacamole was about a half a cup at most; the tacos, although tasty, where also very small one the smallest tortillas, Ive ever seen. But the thing that pissed me off the most was that they served up about 15 tortilla chips that fit in a little metal cup! When I asked for more, the waiter told me Id have to pay extra!! And then the next offensive thing were the sauces. First, there were no sauces, well, only a teeny green yucky one, on the table, I had to ask for some red sauce for the chips. They brought me some about the size of one of those containers that you get when you have to serve yourself your own ketchup - Id say about 1ounces worth-and it was THE WORST tasting stuff Ive ever had. ....and Im old!! Ive been to a LOT of Mexican restaurants. lol I kept asking for some other type of sauce hoping I might find one that was better-green, red and finally this hot sauce that was made with liquid smoke-I swear, I know that smell and flavor very well. Margaritas werent great but I did appreciate that at least they werent sickening sweet as they are in some restaurants. Other good news, the waiters were nice and attentive and the decor is very nice and a fun mix of families and young couples. But ultimately, I wont be going there again unless Im in the mood for goat tacos and nothing else.
I ordered the grilled salmon with saute veggies, paid 24 dollars plus delivery service and I got 1 skinny piece of salmon tail and overcook veggies, by the way they shouldnt say mix veggies on the menu is just leftover bell pepper and broccoli, I will never waist my money like that again.

2021-12-30First time visited this place for dinner with group of 4. Being Tuesday evening and news of Covid spiking up in NYC it was not difficult to be seated right away. I saw few people dropping in for take out they also had backyard patio but due to cold it was not being used. Did order their Guacamole & chips right away. What I really liked was their chicken chimichanga. Every thing including rice was nicely wrapped and it was so tasty. It beat all the other chimichanga I had eaten before. I will recommend it.

2021-07-23Guacamole NYCAs a native upper West sider, I was surprised I’ve never stumbled inside this place. I don’t know, for some weird reason the outside never attracted me. Perhaps that’s why I never ventured inside. Boy, was I ever wrong to doubt.First off the vibe is inside is awesome. There is plenty of space to eat, staff was friendly, music is relaxing but not too loud, and they have a backyard!!!I have to admit, the three enchiladas were decent enough. I’ve never been a fan of the tortillas being dipped in salsa for too long as they can become soggy. The melted cheese or the mole sauce shouldn’t soak the enchiladas. While the tortilla seemed to be too wet, the flavor won on this one. The meal was balanced with well with rice and beans. To top it off I had a tamarind margarita. Yum yum!Definitely recommend this place. I hear from colleagues that the drinks are something special. From experience my drink had a good kick to it. Go try them out.

2021-10-25Got takeout for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the beef chimichangas. The pickup and ordering process was pretty smooth. I thought the price was a little steep for my dish, but in the end it was worth it because my chimichanga was stuffed with shredded meat. The dish was very well seasoned and I loved the side of guacamole and salsa that came with it. The tortilla was fried to a crisp perfection and paired really well with the soft interior. I saw that there was some pretty cute outdoor seating available.

2021-06-27Incredible food with fun twists on standard Mexican dishes (like the fresco guacamole). Friendly staff, delicious cocktails and nice ambiance. Definitely coming back again!

2022-06-08This place has reliably tasty dishes, service exemplary and friendly, nachos are gigantic....a side of jalapenos wouldnt hurt. This time draft machine was on the fritz so we switched to bottles. Selection limited but enough choices to survive. Have not had one bad meal here so keep going.

2021-03-25The restaurant has beautiful Mexican decor and a cozy atmosphere. I had chicken the chicken enchiladas which were absolutely delicious! The sangria was a little watered down but got the job done. Happy hour ends at 6pm. Guillermo is the best! He is friendly and attentive!
