BEWARE! Worst place ever! Due to the pandemic they cancelled our wedding, which we completely understand! HOWEVER, because they cancelled on us we were entitled to our 30k+ deposit back! It’s has been OVER A YEAR & they pay us back $500 a month. It will take over 7 years to get our deposit back. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED WITH THIS PLACE. I beg of you to make sure you do your due diligence with this place! They dodge our phone calls/ emails and all communication we try to get an answer to get more of our money back. BEWARE!
Wonderful to attend an excellent event at Gustavinos after all we have been through.Venue is beautiful and staff could not be more professional.Very inviting from first arrival as attendees were greeted with an umbrella to shield them from the rain as I stepped out of a cab.The staff was friendly and helpful throughout the evening.Food was delicous and offered selections to accomodate many tastes.Drinks were plentiful and selections were top shelf. It was terrific to feel normal once again.
Was here for a wedding. First off the best wedding I have been to yet. Now to the venue, the cocktail hour was very well done and the space downstairs was just right and well ventilated for the size of the wedding. The waiters and waitresses were courteous and smiled. The wedding reception took place upstairs and the decor was beautiful and space allowed for seating with more than enough room for dancing. If I could afford it, I would get married here.
Had our company holiday party here, and it was great. The space itself is beautiful, the food was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Its an incredibly unique space, but its narrow and is split between two levels. Its not a bad thing, but it definitely felt like there were two parties going on.
If there was ever a place to leave less than 1 star this is it. Wow. Where to begin? I guess I know, John Rose should be fired immediately. I had booked Guastavinos months ago for an after party location in their rose garden for 50 guests. It was confirmed by John Rose and I had it printed on my weekend itinerary for my guests as well as advertised on my wedding website and by word of mouth. Fast forward ONE WEEK before my wedding when on a Saturday night we just happened to say lets go for a drink at the rose garden. We arrive and are rudely, almost physically removed from the property. We were informed that it is no longer open on Saturdays to the public and we had to leave immediately. I then decided to email my contact, John Rose, to confirm my reservation for 50 PEOPLE for the following Saturday. He responds and says simply yup, we are not opened on Saturday. I am ONE WEEK from my wedding and literally this place wouldnt have even bothered to inform me they are closed on Saturday if I hadnt reached. I am disgusted, outraged and overwhelmed. This venue has NO RESPECT for brides, human beings or human decency. They are despicable and offered me no alternative. I will never set foot in this venue again and my only saving grace is I didnt choose it as my wedding venue. I warn everyone to stay far away and rethink ever considering it as a venue for any event.
This venue is beautiful and elegant! The staff are very accommodating and polite. I enjoyed the Hope Lodge New York City Bash 2019 fundraiser. The after party dee jay, DJ Leecy T, was an awesomely talented, beautiful, elegant and poised young lady who kept the dance floor crowded and happy throughout the entire after party! The entire event was flawlessly executed. Guastavinos is my first choice of venues.
Barristers Ball here on Saturday night. Generous space. Plenty of room to get around, even as a handicap individual. Would like the outside ramp cleaned and better lit like the rest of the front though. Fell once and they quickly checked to make certain that I was okay. Very conscientious service.
Beautiful venue right at the foot of the Queensboro bridge. From the moment you walk through the gated entryway with the manicured greenery, the elegance of the building is evident. Inside, there is plenty of space for a large event, easily handling the several hundred in attendance during our visit. Would love to come back for another event in the future.
We had our wedding in Guastavinos and had an amazing time, all guests had a great time as well which was a great success after months of planning! Venue, staff, quality of the food/drinks, atmosphere and event planning, timeline are all excellent and all deserves 5 stars. Reason why I am putting 3 stars here is because of the owner/GM, John Rose , who threatened us 1 month prior to our wedding of cancelling our wedding while he did not honor what was in our contract as a 6 hour event. He used the initial proposal as an excuse to switch it to a 5 hour event even after Guastavinos staff confirmed our event being a 6 hour event. John Rose wrote me and my wife aggressive emails, 1 of them starting Stop it and had absolutely left a bad taste in our mouth even when we tried to explain the situation. He was very aggressive throughout the emails and phone calls, absolutely has no respect to his customers. At the end of the day, he will remain as the person who did not honor our written contract. Again, great venue and had the best time there but absolutely terrible customer service from the owner. Thanks
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Beautiful location, excellent food, howeververy difficult administrative team to deal with....very arrogant and not worth the aggravation when making an event. Compounded by having a meeting with potential clients dressed improperly during your formal event among your guests seating area. Any resemblance to customer service ends soon as the bill is paid in advance. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE,AND INEPT.
Came here for New Years Eve and have the time of my life! We luckily had our table next to the dance floor and the bar was a few steps away so it was very convenient. We bought our ticket off of joonbug and every penny was worth it. We had a bottle of Vodka and a bottle of champagne for our table. They also came with a plate of antipasti but I was too busy to eat it.
A great event venue. Its named after the Spanish Architect Rafael Guastavino who invented the tile method for vaulting ceilings. Fittingly the vaulted ceilings are absolutely stunning and add to the elegance of the space. It was the location of the 2018 Brooklyn Law School Barristers Ball.
Stunningly beautiful space under the 59th Street bridge. From the breathtaking landscaped grass garden entrance, to the vaulted exposed stripped concrete suppprt structures of the bridge to the cavernous ground floor polished floored space every inch of this unique, historic space delights, suprises and wows.
Bought tickets for New Years. The place was beautiful designed and real roomy. As for as my one star rating, the service was horrible. I purchased 6 hour open bar. All I wanted was a water with ice, and the bartender would not serve me unless I gave him a $5 minimum tip. He would ignore me every time I asked for water and just pointed to a can marked tips. For the $150 I paid, I thought I could at least get a water. He did the same thing to other friends I had who actually tried getting drinks. Generally tips were something you give someone if they do a good job.On top of that the table service and Horderves were horrible. They had plates set up at a few tables with brownies and cookies, pretty much dessert items, not real food, not traditional Horderves, just desserts. It seemed very low class for a club that was supposedly upper-class. Also the waiters at tables didnt really wait. All they did was take your glasses while you were drinking them and throw them away. What a waste of money for the club, and a drink to me and my friends. The world renowned DJ was alright, nothing out of the ordinary, just a lot of replayed tracks other DJs have done. I wouldnt recommend this place at all. You can plan a house party for less or go somewhere with better service and class.
Beware of this place. My jacket was lost during an event at coat check and noone had the decency of either calling me the following day and to make things better they more or less said I was LYING!I had to babysit these people to try and find out where my jacket was only to hear that the staff had no recollection of checking in my jacket,(only a bag)I was given only one ticket for both items (how am I supposed to do that they give one ticket per item checked???)I even have pictures that were taken of me prior to entering the venue with my jacket on and they are in my face telling me that the jacket could have been lost by me inside the venue. Before I left the night of the event I handed Allison, the supervisor my business card to have her follow up on this.. I am still waiting for her call. almost 2 weeks later!Just hung up the phone with another person, Joseph who was doing the investigation and he insisted that his staff never received my jacket BUNCH OF LIARS!What good is it to have a beautiful venue if you dont know what quality and 5 star service is all about???????

2022-03-28What a wonderful way to return to socializing after the pandemic! I attended a benefit/fundraising event at Guastavino’s and they exceeded my expectations. The space is wonderful as it incorporates elements of the Queensboro Bridge into the interior architecture. So the structural elements are original features of the bridge which lends a grand feel to the space. the decor is also classically wonderful. The staff -from the coat check to the servers- are very attentive and friendly. The bartenders served up some of the best cocktails I’ve had in a while. My evening here left me thinking we should do this annual benefit twice/year …

2022-06-10First let me say that without the staff at Guastavinos this wedding would not have been as awesome as it was. Attentive, kind, professional and well trained. The food exceeded expectations (cocktail hour was the best, even the pass arounds were plentiful) as did the atmosphere with amazing lighting, the bar (they made any cocktail that was desired, anything from chocolate martinis to the best old fashion) and the bartenders remembered all night what you drank. The little touches like Patron in little bottles handed out on the dance floor or cotton candy and sprinkle dipped ice cream cones passed around during the night. So so many letters and texts from family and friends thanking us for the best night ever. Food a 10, bar a 10, staff a 10 and venue a 10. Thank you Joseph Gabis, Victoria Bongo, Joseph the best MatreD and of course Abdul along with the entire team. A special thank you to the Grooms attendant, Turani, who made sure they ate throughout the night and always had a cocktail in their hand. Its hard to meet expectations, and to exceed them even harder.....job well done!!!

2022-02-26Great place to do an event, much props to the door man. Shot the 2nd season of Michael Che comedy sketch show. Look out for it on HBO Max (That Damn Michael Che). This picture is from a scene about to shoot with Michael Che & Keenan Thompson from Saturday Night live.

2022-05-29I worked an event recently at Guastavinos and What an incredibly beautiful event space. If youve got the money to burn, I highly recommend visiting this space. It has gorgeous modern architecture. Has a historic look and feel from the outside, and inside is modern, clean and elegant. Production quality with their in-house team is top notch and it was a joy to work them.

2019-07-13They are having a summer poo up called Rosé Garden. Beautifully done up. Outside is like a rose garden. Inside it has the gothic architecture done up in stunning pink lights. Definitely worth visiting this summer. Quite an extensive Rosé wine list. Had the Rosé Sangria and it was lovely on a hot summer night. The host was so kind and showed me the entire venue before seating me. Gorgeous!

2020-02-16Beautiful venue. I’ve been here on a couple occasions and on each the place looked completely different. There’s a nice cocktail reception area downstairs and formal tables set up upstairs.

2021-11-15The atmosphere was beautiful and the cocktail hour was very good, but the food was just ok! Our 1st course was Rivoli some had 2 some had 3? Main course we had NY strip both were ordered Med rear ( one was the other wasnt, but not really a big deal! ) But the most surprising thing was we were not offered any coffee or believe it or not, no Wedding cake or dessert 🤔 We were saying maybe they didnt have enough for everyone?
