I find some of my favorite pieces at Gudrun. The materials she uses are beautiful, and I always get compliments when I wear her clothes! I pick pieces from her that are more minimal and fit right into my NYC wardrobe. They are definitely my staples and feel both special and practical. The people who work there are also terrific. Wonderful customer service! You definitely get what you pay for aka high quality garments that are beautifully made.
Excellent quality, top notch service, quick delivery! I found this delicious line of clothing and have to have more! So comfortable, a little edgy and just perfect! I have had so many compliments on all the outfits I have purchased. Lovely mix and match make it easy to update a look. Love you Gudrun!! I loved Gudruns style the moment I saw some of the outfits online. But since the web has a way to make lousy stuff look gorgeous, I decided to go to the store rather than order online. What I saw was way beyond my expectations. This store is a breath of fresh air in that neighborhood. The fabrics--cotton, wool, silk--are all you want for clothing. They are fair trade and ecological, even the down in the coats is from a recycled source. Considering the quality, the prices are very reasonable. The colors are magnificient and the patterns and colors, of which they have a great variety, can be easily mixed and matched to created very original ensembles. The staff is wonderful. They will help you create a combination that will be uniquely yours. You also dont need to be 20, and weigh 100 lbs to fit in those cloths.
LOVE the socks! They are so colorful and fit so well - and (best part) these do not have a strong elastic at the top - which means there is not sock cling line on your legs! Not so sure about some of the other clothing items. Colors and patterns are happy, but some of the more loosely fitted tops are a bit too shapeless. Nonetheless - definitely worth considering each item on its own merits.
Great to visit their first stateside store! Funky, eco-conscious Swedish clothing line including tons of colorful basics and unique, beautiful showpieces. Pricing is perhaps in Banana Republic/higher-end Gap realm, but seems worth it. I wish the dressing rooms felt more private, but otherwise an awesome experience.
I am in CT and when I was visiting soho, I was so drawn to the color and look of this new store in soho as I was on my way to another shop... I went in and it was like walking into a treasure trove of color, whimsy and artful sophistication. I did purchase a few items and the staff was beyond helpful as I am petite... and was so happy these clothes fit me! I took a catalogue and look forward to every catalogue I receive because I cant always get into the city... and this enables me to buy online. I love the fact that the catalogue and website show how to put the clothes together and -- that it features women of all colors and ages... I am over 50 and was thrilled to see women modeling over 50 (I think)! Wearing Gudrun makes me feel youthful and stylish... I am hooked. I drove from Connecticut to meet Gudrun... and it was a thrill. My husband took this image (and did not know how to work my phone!!!) but he is also a fan of the household items and loves how I look when I wear Gudrun.
Beautiful clothing and home goods in natural fabrics. Fair trade, ecological. This is an oasis in Soho - when I enter the store I feel happy and peaceful. The staff is wonderful - helpful, friendly, and very good stylists. My round-trip to this store from home is almost 8 hours, but I visit as often as I can.
Helpful staff that are willing to aid you in designing your individual style. These clothes are natural fabrics, European design with a flair all their own. I have visited them and called them with questions, like where do I park, how do I get to your store or do you have this item for sale.... each time a patient and friendly voice has guided me. Dont miss the experience of Gudrun, its like a trip to Europe in NYC.
Must be going out of business. Hours in NY store are less and less. NO customer service - all that is there is 1-877 number with recorded message to leave VM and someone will get in touch with you, then disconnects. Having spent >10K at your company this year, I expect some type of customer service. And why the heck isnt there any telephone capacity, Graham Bell in the 19th century proved that sound is faster than typing/writing messages and waiting for someone to read and respond to the message - need to innovate to the 20th century and get some real time phone assistance.
My daughters (NYers) took me to this store after I had open heart surgery. It had been a rough year. The clothes seemed to like my beat-up old body. They felt comfortable, forgiving, age appropriate, but in no way frumpy, dated. I thought I could be busy, healthy, confident in my new red dress. 5 years later, I order on-line, and stop at Greene Street when I visit. No illness now, I can bring well-being to a place where everyone is helpful, friendly: the best. G.S.ethos, design and variety call out the best me. I sewed 3 little buttons on that 1st still-fresh red dress to cover permanent ink and they look like a Gudrun detail. My faves.
Gudrun is a gem of a brand and new yorkers are lucky to have their only store in the US right here, in Soho. I bought a couple of Gudrun items online before but my first visit to the store yesterday was a total delight. I fell in love with the artsy, colorful styles made of oh-so-incredibly-comfy eco-friendly materials! A very knowledgeable store stylist Perneil (sp.?) showed me how to layer and match various Gudruns dresses, tunics, pants, and cardigans, and I feel inspired to expand my personal style currently dominated by tailored dark pieces by infusing it with colorful, artistic and flattering looks from Gudruns every-changing collections. I left with 3 fabulous dresses, 2 scarfs, some cute tights and leggings, and a membership card that earns me rewards on every purchase. What a fabulous discovery! Highly recommend a visit to this store.
Horrible customer service!I placed my first online order with this company over the weekend. I wanted to cancel one of the items, as they are rather expensive. I called first thing Monday morning. The customer service rep was so rude and abrupt...she sounded angry?!!I explained what I wanted and she said It shipped.Basically she then hung up on me.I got a notice today from UPS that the item shipped today... Tuesday!She could have cancelled the item, instead she lied.
Not sure about the store experience, but trying to order online was an absolute nightmare. First, I tried multiple times to place the order on their website, but the screen kept mysteriously freezing. Then I called customer service and placed the order over the phone. I was told the card declined, that it happens all the time because the charge comes from Sweden, and I would need to call my bank and then call back. Did that, but when I called back they had no record of the order. So I placed the order AGAIN (third time) and provided the card number again and was told I would receive an order confirmation. No confirmation arrived. When I called back a few days later, I was told that the order was on hold because 1 item was backordered. I asked them to ship everything they had in stock and was told they would do that and send me another order confirmation, which I received. 2 weeks later, I got an email saying I needed to call them with the credit card again and they still havent sent me anything. The charge declined again due to the non-US transaction fraud alert and my credit card was frozen. So I was told I would need to call my bank AGAIN... I decided to cancel the order instead. Worst online shopping experience in my life.
Incompetent staff, inconsistent sizing, illegal business practices. Do NOT waste your time and money. Very poor quality material. Ignorant and uneducated staff. Impossible to deal with.

2022-07-07Beware of the Greenwashing! I love the clothes made in Eastern Europe by this company, but will not buy the ones made in China because I support a free Tibet. Unfortunately, you have to look hard to find out where each item has been made.

2021-12-28The clothes are unique, well made, prices are reasonable and shipping time is what you would do expect under todays circumstances. I read some of the reviews, and here is my rebuttal. The tops and dresses I received were made in Greece, India,..nothing came from China. Yes, the woven cotton fabrics are thin which is appropriate since the pieces are meant to be layered. The website and catalog clearly describes the type of fabric and fiber content. They could not have done a better job.Returns and refunds take about four weeks.

The colors and patterns are great but now that I have received my first dresses, I realize that the reason that the models in the photographs wear layers is because the fabric is so thin that you can see through it. Flimsy fabric for the high prices. I am disappointed and will not purchase from here again.

2019-12-21A lovely store! I have been a Gudrun customer since the 1990s, but this was my first time in the NY store. Tasteful interior. The clothes are unique with lovely patterns and often organic fabric. I love that the designer doesnt care about trends but creates garments that are individual and for a wider range of women than just the 16-25 year old crowd with no curves. There is also a home goods section. Very friendly staff and calming atmosphere.
