I had some string buzz and needed a guitar neck adjustment for a Washburn acoustic guitar I hadn’t used in about a year . I was told a guy named Ian dealt with repairs . Got there and Ian was a super warm positive and helpful dude. Stellar service from him all around.
Called to see if they had a specific guitar tuner in stock. Got hung up on after a short hold the first time. Called a 2nd time and got put on hold for 10 minutes before I decided to hang up and call back a 3rd time. Don’t know who picked up the first 2 times but their attitude wasn’t exactly customer service friendly. The 3rd call I spoke to Shawn who also seemed a little short with me until I requested to speak with a manager. I spoke to Nick, to then get transferred to a different manager, Miguel, who finally could tell me if there was a tuner in stock in less than 2 minutes. Too much of a run around and unenthusiastic employees. I shouldn’t have to call 3 times and talk to 2 different managers to have the simplest of questions answered. The speed that Miguel answered my inquiry, should’ve been the way it was handled from the first time I called. Disappointing to say the least.
Its alright, cluttered and messy sales floor. Sales people are aloof. Took me a week to pick up my guitar because they had to process it into the system. I ended up calling on the 7th day to cancel the order and it took someone from guitar center management to prevent me from canceling the order. They gave me 2 packs of guitar strings in return. Thats okay really wanted the guitar but funny situation as they they were snarky with me following up with the store about eta to pick up the guitar. I get it but I find it interesting it took management to rectify the situation when it was a 1k guitar order. Oh well, will continue to do my purchases with Sweetwater as tho they dont have a store front they are able to do better job at having customers make pick ups at drop off spots. Yeah you could say why not deliver it hoke, right but lets not forget porch holidays bandits!
Store is fine, Employees are rude, tried to order a replacement part from them for a product that was damaged from them...Ended up spending a total of 2 1/2 hours on hold, and about 30 minutes talking to people, and got hung up on multiple times and treated horribly while I was speaking to them.
My dad dropped it off his guitar to have his strings changed on Monday. The technician promised him that it would be ready by noon on Tuesday; my dad needed to use it on Wednesday. When my dad called today, Christian just told him that the technician went home sick and there was nothing he could do. I spoke to the manager, Miguel, and he proceeded to tell me that because of covid, he cant do anything. Im a pharmacist and I work in a hospital. I do not tell patients and their families that because of covid, there is nothing that I can do. I understand with covid, things may be out of your control but Christian nor Miguel didnt even apologized for the inconvenience this caused my father. You dont run a business like that. They have no idea what customer service means.**edit They also did not let any of their customers know that 2 of the technicians would be out for 10 days. Isnt it customer service to give your customers a courtesy call!!?? DO NOT GO HERE, UNLESS YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
I used to LOOOOOVVE Guitar Center, for both the ease of access and amazing prices, but recently when I went to get a new guitar, amp, etc., I was way less than impressed. The selection was nowhere near what I expected. Example: they had the same exact guitar model, but in different colors. I felt like the guitars were all variations on a theme. Like, there was no variety in style, body shape, etc. Very disappointed.
I wanted to buy a mixer and the one I wanted was not in stock. I asked the sales person if I can have the floor sample, and it appeared to me I became some what of a nuisance. His customer service skills left much to be desired. If you are not customer oriented, do not take a job that requires you to interact with customers.
I would like to relay my experience at the Flatbush location because I believe it is important for the management to be informed of whats happening there.At around 4:45pm on Wednesday, Dec 22nd, I was at the acoustic guitar department choosing guitar for my 10 y o student. The girl and her mom were with me and we settled on an almost $700 steel string acoustic guitar.I asked the guy who was handling the acoustic guitar department (taller, short light brown hair, white): if my student buys that guitar would it be possible to adjust the action of the neck because it was low and there was fret buzz?He grabbed the guitar from me, played a bunch and said that there is nothing wrong with the guitar and that it doesn’t buzz. He said that they don’t sell guitar that have “problems”, that it was a normal sound and that’s how guitars are supposed to sound .Being a session guitar player for the last 15 years with a conservatory degree in guitar performance (I make my living as a performing/recording session musician and a teacher), playing and owning multiple guitars throughout my career, I know what guitars with low action and fret buzz sound like.I mentioned to the guy again:” the neck definitely needs to be adjusted and that it has a definite fret buzz. Would it be possible to adjust the truss rod at this location? “. This set him off yelling at me in the presence of my young student and her mom saying that I either buy that guitar or not.The mom stepped in for me asking him why he was so rude. This set him off even more and he left us saying that he doesn’t have any time for us.The level of sudden anger and hate in how he was treating us was surprising for someone who you just met.I especially didn’t want a 10 y o girl who was so happy to come to a music store to choose a new guitar for herself witnessing a man 3 times her age treating a female guitar player like that and refusing her any assistance.Stale, old school misogyny is the last thing I want my young students to see and experience. It is unacceptable that a guitar seller would behave like this around a child.This should not be happening in a professional environment.This experience entirely ruined the mood for us; the girl didn’t look as enthusiastic after that. We left without buying any guitar because the vibe was completely ruined.This semester I have 5 students who need new 4/4 size guitars and I was planning to bring them to the Flatbush location. Not any more. I told my fellow musicians about this experience. I don’t want my female students to experience the misogyny and incompetence of guys who work there and have such a negative association with playing guitars.If I was treated normally I would have brought in 5 more customers.Many new guitars need neck adjustments; not a big deal. There is no reason to yell at a customer who requests a slight truss rod adjustment.I hope that the management at 139 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn NY location will have a meeting and conversation with the guys that they employ (they dont employ any women ever). No child or woman should have such an experience at a music store and if no one cares about that, then, at least, they should care about the damage they wreak on their sales commissions and on the business. Women buy equipment and guitars as well and some are teachers with multiple students who buy guitars. These should be good enough reasons to address the toxic environment at the Flatbush location.P.S. The location at the 14th is much better- way more professional sellers and treatment of female musicians.
I made the mistake of ordering online from them and they literally sent me 130 spam emails in 8 weeks. 130. From 3 different accounts (guitar center, guitar center lessons, and Robert Hart @ guitar center). Even by the lowest spam standards this is insane. Will just order from Amazon next time I need anything. (But the lavmic I ordered was fine.)
I’ve been sitting in Guitar Center for an hour and a have, with no help from the staff. I’ve seen a plethora of people come in, get some assurance and go about their business. They helped everyone else except my group. I’m starting to wonder if this is a racial situation. I tried to speak with the manager in which he would not come out of the ‘Lessons’ section to speak to me. I will be contacting corporate.
They people skills / customer service SUUUUUCKS!!! MAJORLY...I went there during non busy hours, and was standing around waiting for help. I saw, myself and maybe 2 other people in the whole entire store. They are very good at pointing you into the direction where you should look for what you need. Have website say item in stock, spend 27 mins getting there, wait under the sun outside for 8 mins because covid, finally make it in, clerk says item not in stock website just means in stock in main warehouse, get upset but not a Karen and not clerks fault so just leave, write review a few days later with a serene mind to prevent other fellow humans from making life mistakes.
Customer service is terrible and they barely have any one that knows how to really engage with a client and understand what they might need ...for example I called to asked them about audio they told me I need to call someone else like arent they a music store so yea guitar center really has fallen off or maybe its just this one but Id suggesngoing to the city this location the workers are very lazy
They will apparently sell you things online and mark them as “available for in store pickup immediately” then after you buy the stuff you find out they lied. Nope, they don’t keep the things in the store that they say they do. Yay. Otherwise the place has almost anything you need for music. So it’s pretty cool that way.
I have been here on several occasions and found the staff to be informed and helpful. As a guitarist I think the selection of guitars, amplifiers and stomp boxes is excellent. Talk to a salesperson and before you know it you are hooked up and trying out the equipment you were asking about. Overall - great experiences
The guitar center was. Really cool they let you pick out and play and look over what guitar you want really big music store they carry all kinds of guitars I was happy to go there. And see a whole wall of guitars. Really. Cool. Staff and they actually help you get the exact guitar you want !!!!
I want to do this Guitar Center right before theyre closing, maybe 30-45 minutes before theyre supposed to be closing. Everyone was extremely rude, no one actually talk to me when we got in there and I was actually looking to buy something but whatever. Hit or miss, I guess.
Don’t fall for the friendliness of the staff members (if they are friendly to you.) We all know that friendly customer service is not a part of NYC culture anyway, so please, don’t buy it. They are trying to figure out how to scam you while smiling at you. If you’re spending over $100.00, know that they are going to try to rip you off in some way. It’s guaranteed!
This guitar center was pretty awesome and i would come back because its not only about you making the trip from home from a 45 minute train ride get to the store buy what you need and leave because if that was the case i would buy everything from amazon with out any knowledge of how cheap or expensive a item can be like a capo and it becomes a bust, so i needed information and when i looked for information i got what i wanted from different price ranges to types of qualities and its not only the information i got but also the comfortability were you can get cool with the staff which is really awesome customer service dont ever worry about being shy there they are all pretty cool
It is a nice place to go to purchase and find all the musical instruments, books, and download you need to enhance your Musical abilities. The electronic section is on the main floor, and the wide instruments and accessories sections are on the lower floor of the center. The prices are reasonable.
The staff are really helpful and will occasionally check up on you to make sure everything is alright. If you need assistance, ofc you can just flag one of them down to help you (assuming they arent already assisting someone else). Unlike some stores, they really know their stuff and up to date on their inventory. My favourite part is that they have 2 private playing booths available with amps and cables. All in all, a great experience while there
I really like this guitar center because its connected to the mall and is within walking distance from where I live. Having said that the customer service is excellent. I had them set up one of my guitars and install a new bridge pickup and they did a perfect job and it sounds great. The sellection of musical instruments is pretty big too.
Purchased over 2,000 on a guitar and equipment, went back to make another purchase and change strings on guitar was told by repair counter thats what YouTube is for, additional services is a charge, no kind of courtesy, my 16 years old was disappointed and disrespected, I will no longer be a customer, will purchase via Amazon which is cheaper and take his advise and go on you tube to learn.
1 star is me generous on the strength of 1 employee. Good selection but extremely incompetent staff. Need to retrain employees in customer service. Hope they close this location and place Paul, the only employee thats willing to work with you in that store, in a better location. My disdain for this location can not be put into 1 sentence since there are not enought obscene words in the English dictionary to properly express how I feel.
Guitar center is such an amazing store!!! This place is truly a music lovers dream. I visited guitar center numerous times and had a fabulous experience each time I went. The store is laid out really nicely with different sections for each instrument type. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They sell excellent quality instruments and their prices are reasonable. Even if you dont intend to make a purchase, its still fascinating to be there and watch people playing music. All in all, Guitar Center is an exciting place to visit and I recommend a trip there!
Ok, Im revising my initial one star review after phoning customer service to discuss my negative experience and getting a reasonable discount on a new product .I still think they need to fix their online system so as to not sell products they cant deliver, but thanks customer care for a reasonable solution after I chased you up gave you the chance to remedy the situation.
I was really happy with the staff here, my husband and I were immediately greeted at the door by Matt. He was super nice and directed us to where we needed to go. At the mic counter we got helped fast and got exactly what we needed. On the way out again Matt was very nice and encouraged us to come back so he could teach me more about the different mic options. 100% awesome. Thank you!
I would recommend customers confirm on phone before store pickup. I ordered a Ibanez guitar online and picked up at this store. The first time I came here I was told they don’t have it in stock, and I got it next week. It wasn’t a good experience, but I have to say it’s their system to blame. The store staff are decent and countable.
I really was disappointed salesperson was rude And arrogant And the escalators would not turn to on which you have an elevator and Im somewhat handicap they told me the elevator was only for store employees I am a repeat customer who came and asked about some RCF line or a you speakers model 10A My name is Steve Nelson of nelsons concepts in sound

2022-06-03A wonderful place! Shawn and Al are great and both very corteuous :) I had some hiccups in a purchase and Shawn made everything so easy for me and is a delight, and Al is always a great help! Sometimes Guitar shops can feel intimidating for a woman but not here.

2022-08-12I purchased a used guitar online. Delayed shipping and overall cleanliness of the guitar made it just an okay experience. That said, the location will write you back if you contact them with questions about status, etc, which I do appreciate. I would definitely give them another chance.

2022-06-21The staff is friendly and professional. The store is very clean and welcoming. Ive had nothing but great experiences at GC-Brooklyn. Heres my big problem, the cost of a standard set up is unreal. I get that weve had massive inflation, but over a $100 dollars with new strings? Again, my gripe is not with the staff or in-store management, they are amazing, my issue is with corporate taking advantage that there are not competitors in their vicinity.

2022-06-03Went in to have my guitar’s strings changed. After waiting over a week, they finally called to tell me the job was done. But upon opening up my guitar case at home, I found that there were no strings on the guitar. Absolutely outrageous; horrendous treatment of customers.

2021-06-07NYC is my home, and Guitar Center in Atlantic-Barclays is my music room😘 On my last visit there, I finally got what I was looking for! But, that was after the 3 exchanges (I do not recommend this behaviour!)! They were so very accommodating. I didnt like what Ive been through when it comes to selecting acoustic guitar. But, I learned that, the guitar tones that connects with you makes your music harmonious and, you as a happy and content guitarist🙏.My very own first guitar wont work anymore electronically and to have it fix will cost me more that I paid for it. So I tried to buy same one because I like how the way it sounded on my ear. But, the store was out of stock of the brand I like. So, I ended up trying a new one, a used acoustic Fender. But, a week later or so, I realized my soul was sad whenever I play😔. So I came back to the same store to exchange it, hoping they already have the brand I needed. Nope, none, and I couldnt wait till they have it or order it. So, I ended up getting a new one. But, just few days of having it home__it just sounded horrendous to my ear! I came back to the store, and they didnt still not have the one that I want__soooo, I ended up getting a another one, and it sounded almost same with my very first own guitar---but, something is not right few days later after bringing it home...when I used it to do basking and recorded my self: it sounded as if it has colds! 😱 And I said to myself, thats it, I really have to get a copy of my Yamaha acoustic guitar! I dont care if I needed to wait!MORAL STORY: when we already know what to get and it doesnt have in stock__we must have patient to wait if you would like to get it on same store or have them ordered it for you. Because, you cannot replace an original! #IpersonalizedMyFirstYamaha🌹I am new in the music world. March 22, 2020 when I bought my very own first guitar at this very same Guitar Center. I already know five chords since last 1993, G, D, C, Am, and Em. Thats it. But it was enough to made my own very first music the next day, put poem lyrics the next day after that, and by the 3rd day, I was presenting my schools guitar mentor a song on my very first day of my guitar lesson❤️ and called me Youre a musically inclined musician!. It was March 20, 2020 when I registered on my Campus Free Guitar Lesson program. Since buying that guitar, I became a frequent of this store. Bought my teenage sons keyboard, bought my guitar accessories, amplifier, etc...or sometimes, I dropped by to play on their guitars at their acoustic guitar room after a day of shopping spree in the mall!☺️ And I am always drooling on their Gibson guitars most especially their Gibson Hummingbird Original Heritage Cheery Sunburst 😍❤️😘🌹This Guitar Center is perfectly laid out from the percussion room to acoustic guitar room, the floor areas for pianos and amplifiers and the wall of electric guitars, etc..and even the area where the lavatory, is also in its perfect place!If ever I have complain (in which I did!) to this store, its the frequent out of order sign of their scalators in which no fault of their own: they have only one company that fixes it and they were not doing a good job!!..😔 It keeps breaking down so obviously.😔Just imagine, since 2018 March/April (when I signed up my 2 kids for piano lessons), this Guitar Centers own scalators never ceases to amazed me for being always out of order more than 2x yearly!!!...🤦 And it was out of order again on my last visit, May 28, 2021🤷 Oi vey!

2020-08-29Made the trip here to make a small purchase- only because their online inventory said it was in stock. Arrived at the store, sales associates were not friendly. A lot of missing inventory. Wasted my time.

2021-09-27Matthew in Keyboards was so helpful. I called to ask about a specific, hard-to-find Nord model and he held it for me all day. I came by around closing but he still took the time to set me up with the keyboard and make sure I liked it- plus he brought it out to my car in the middle of a rainstorm. Absolute hero. Highly recommend this location. I live on Long Island and although there are closer stores, this one has the best stock and the best service.
