Guitar Center in other cities:
Came in today looking to replace my drum heads, picked out what I needed, and waited and waited and waited and waited for someone to acknowledge my presence, which didnt happen. So I calmly put everything back and left. I went just 6 mles west of your store to S/Ash and they were happy to take my money! You guys should pay attention to who shops in your store.
Ive been coming to this store for years. Every employee in this location is super into music and knows their stuff. I went to look at guitars for my almost 2 year old, (I know nothing about guitars, but like to gift music items often) and the guy who helped me was very patient and didnt pressure me. They also have amazing deals and send coupons to my email regularly.
Brought a friend to get guitar accessories, strings, cords & stand I being a drummer went into the drum area and sampled most of the cymbals drum sets and snares they had set up.Though I personally have quite a complement of traps and percussion equipment myself, being a musician was as if I was given my favorite candy!Nice time!!!Dont think I made the salesperson too happy as I did not buy anything. Oh well, perhaps next time!!
Ordered a hand drum online to pick up in store. Went to pick it up and it was the floor model with scratches and a few small chips. When I pointed this out I was told there were barely any scratches and theyve seen way worse. It was a strange experience. I just bought a new one from a different store and wont be returning here.
Store seems to be barely stocked. Guitar wall is well stocked, but aside from that pretty empty. I was asked twice of I needed help, once by woman in drum department, because I was at the counter and she seemed genuine to help and engage me. Pro audio asked if I needed help then promptly walked out of department when I said just browsing. Wasnt engaged by guitars at all despite spending the majority of time there.I had my service dog with me and wasnt confronted to bothered in regards to having him with me. So the only 2 positive take aways are no one messed with me as far as having my service dog, and the women in the drum department was more than helpful and engaging. Other than that, this has no become the last time I will step foot in a guitar center. I have had several other experiences with this particular guitar center and I had nothing but negative to slightly less than neutral experiences with the guitar department.
Customer service really needs an overhaul....on the phone and in person. Tried to set up guitar lessons..1st time in person nobody available and didnt want to take my name down or information...tried twice via phone...left on hold for 10 minutes 7 the second ugh!up...
The team at GC Commack are genuine and helpful. Most of all they will assist in anyway possible to get you playing gear that makes you happy.I recently ordered a Japanese Reissue Strat online from another location and had it shipped to the Commack Store. When it arrived it was in worse condition than described. Although I was upset, Beau, and Sam did everything they reasonably could to ensure I left the store happy. I could not have asked for a better guitar buying experience. This is just one example of their extraordinary customer service in many years and purchases from this location. Thanks guys.
Long story short, you have one very dissatisfied customer. I place an order online (11/2/20) for my daughters birthday. It was supposed to arrive at the Commack store by 11/6/20. It did not. I called subsequently and was told that the item is no longer in stock and that guitar center was cancelling my order. I was then directed to speak with the manager (Jeremy) at the Commack store. He told me that he would get me the item from a store in Pennsylvania and have it by my daughters birthday. I was pleased with his response. However my daughters birthday came and went. I called a few days after and was told someone would get back to me. They didn’t. I then called again a few more days later and was given the same runaround. No one would call me back. I finally called again on 11/21/20 and spoke to an associate in the Commack store who said they saw that I was waiting and was unsure why no one had contacted me. She took a look in the inventory and said she had the item there in stock and I could come pick it up. I went in to pick up the item, they went in the back and got it for me. The item they had was not the same one I had ordered, this one was $50 more. I asked them to discount the item, especially due to the horrible customer service I received and they said it was eligible for the already listed sale price. I was told by the manager that this is the best he could do. Shame on your company, you drop the ball on multiple occasions and expect that your customers will just come back. Well, you’ve lost me. I’ve spent quite a bit of money in your store over the years and I can assure you that I will make my story known to all of my friends and family. Next time, you might want to do something other than tell your customer sorry. Even the sales associate who sold me the item in the end said that he wasn’t surprised that the company handled the matter like this. Worst thing of all, you rained on my daughters birthday for no reason.12/6I write reviews to the guitar center website as requested. To date, I have heard nothing back from them. I’m not surprised at all. Just goes to show, that even though they said they would make the situation right....they can’t even do that. No wonder they’re filing for bankruptcy
Everyone on this particular shift was awesome. They were knowledgeable, patient, and easily approachable. I gave 4 stars due to a store policy I wasnt happy about but I understood why it was in place. Still, dont put something on the sales floor if it isnt available for purchase. Other than that it was overall a great experience.
Bought an acoustic electric guitar yesterday at guitar center commack. I ended up finding the same instrument cheaper online and the sales team agreed to match the price with no haggling or confrontation. The sales team was helpful without being pushy or in your face. Great store with a great staff. Stu was extremely friendly and helpful in particular
A friend of mine whom I have known since she was 18 years old finally decided to tie the knot with the love of her life. She had asked me to DJ her wedding and I needed sound equipment to DJ that wedding. Guitar Center was able to provide for me all the necessary equipment to make my friends special day a spectacular one. Like the Guitar Center in my Hometown of Clearwater, FL, these guys went way above and beyond the call a professional duty. All of the gearing I rented was an excellent shape and there were no issues what so ever when I had set up all the gear and used it at the wedding. If I ever need to rent sound equipment again the next time I make a trip to New York I will make sure that I use these guys. Thank you for making the sound system rental transaction as smooth as you did.
Absolutely great customer service! Tom helped me get the gear I needed right away and was super helpful and straightforward. He went out of his way to make sure I would be getting what I ordered and I am very grateful for it! Back on track recording our album thanks to this store, the manager and Tom!
I arrived about 5pm the store was not busy at all. I had my choice of guitars to choose from. The staff as usual were very friendly and said if I had any questions to ask. My only regret was talking myself out of buying a gretsch acoustic that I was playing. But I fix that today when I return cash in hand lol.
I have been going regularly since it has opened. The experience is based on what they have in stock and the staff of the moment. The store managers have come and gone, most are stressed and overwhelmed. I wish something could be done about the staff. The ONLY person there to trust and enjoy is Beau. Beau is the BEST!!!
The people working at this location are some of the BEST reps we have ever encountered!Helpful, polite and knowledgeable are just too few a words to describe the staff, managers and associates that are employed here. Our favorite place to shop at!5 Stars all day long.
Great customer representative at the store. I purchased a use electric guitar it was rated as in great condition. And thats exactly what it was in great condition. Would definitely purchase again at that the 8 Garet Place Comack NY store. Good old customer service always wins. Thanks guys.
So first of of all, amazing customer service. I live up in Maine and was trying to track down a certain guitar Ive been wanting. I believe I talked to a guy named Brian E. Super nice and very helpful in helping me start payments on my guitar and being able to arrange for shipment when ready. I will be asking for him again on Thursday when I call to pay off my beauty and to have it shipped. Thank you so much guitar center commack and thank you Brian!
The two people I spoke to were extremely rude and condescending to not only me, but every other customer I saw them speaking to. The store is run by pompous children who ridicule anyone who walks in. The guy at repairs was very helpful though and not nearly as rude as the two people who helped me. Never spending my money there again.
I helped my nephew buy his first guitar. Could he have saved $20 by going on Amazon? Probably, but he never would have had that experience of picking up 20 or so guitars. Hearing the tone and quality, feeling the action and meeting the professionals that he can turn to for great advice or just foster his love of music.Im happy to teach my nephew, but I cant tell you how glad I feel knowing that there is a credible, reputable source that isnt just there to upsell. You can feel their commitment to music when they not just let, but encourage you to touch and try different instruments, and make recommendations that arent aimed at closing a sale. Go and judge for yourself, you wont be disappointed.
Ive been going to this location on and off for several years, the friendliness of everyone that goes into this store is incredible. Customers and the staff are all nice and always willing to share the love of music with anyone. The fact that you are able to try out almost every instrument that you can imagine from bongos to dj equipment really helps with making a final decision. Ever since they started offering lessons for beginners Ive seen a whole new level of interest in music for the art form that it is. Its great and this place is just the place for anyone who wants to explore music, not just guitars.
Firstly, Kevin is an amazing person. Thank you Kevin. I live in IL and this store is in NY, of course. There was an item that kept getting cancelled online, for ship to store. A very limited item, even more limited due to covid. Anyway, the only stores that had them was Queens and Commack. One at each store. Called Queens first... told me to call 800#. I took a chance and called the Commack store, and let me say this... Kevin went above and beyond for me. Stellar!! He gave me instructions for me to start the store to store delivery process. In short, the item will be shipped from NY to IL. Kevin really, really made my day. Honestly, my daughters too. It was a graduation gift. So thank you for helping me make this happen. Excellent customer service. Much appreciated.
By far the best guitar center location on Long Island, I would drive extra miles just to go to this one. As a musician in a band for the past 17 years, this is definitely my go to guitar center location. Great selection and very helpful workers. I just love the fact that you can try out any instrument they have in store and jam out! They have a very respectful trade in program, giving you either cash or store credit, which is great!
A guitar players paridise. Tons of beautiful guitars and basses to see, and you can play any one you want. I was looking for an acoustic bass. They had a nice selection at very good prices. I was there an hour before closing and felt a bit rushed, but that wont stop me from going back.
Ive always had a good experience here until late... They were very disorganized with my last order. The sales rep misquoted by thousands on a custom drum set. I wont get into all the details here but I can tell you it was a painful experience. I am giving it 3 stars instead of 1 because the staff is friendly and the manager attempted to fix the situation.
THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE! So dissapointed with guitar center! I purchased their pro coverage for a mixing board, what a rip off! When my unit started to not preform correctly I attempted to utilize my pro coverage. I was first told by a store employee I would be able to come in and exchange it because of my coverage, this was a lie. The store insisted that I send the unit out for repair. I sent the item out for repair which still cost me $30, even though it is advertised as pre-paid shipping. This process took nearly 2 weeks. When the item was returned NOTHING WAS FIXED! Extremely dissapointed I contacted guitar center. The store manager said that I would need to come in to show them the problem. I was busy with gigs at the time and could not make it in right away. It took me about a week to get into the store. Now because it took me approximately 7 days to make it in the store the pro coverage team is now claiming that too much time has lapsed since the last repair and they need to treat this as a new issue with the unit, ignoring the fact that I said it was never fixed to begin with. This has been a complete nightmare and I have been without a working unit for 6 weeks now. Shipping it out again.Moral of the story:-I Dont recommend Guitar Center-DONT BUY PRO COVERAGE
They just lost good longtime customers over nothing. Ive been spending TONS of money there since 2000 and the quality of customer service dropped off so much recently. Its like they go out of their way to upset people instead doing the right thing. This time, it was over me not having a BOX to return something in... Im serious. Knowing that I was exchanging this amp for a MUCH more expensive one, they had nerve actually charging me to replace the cardboard box (for an amp they pushed on me to begin with). Hell, Ive purchased new gear from them that didnt even come with a box and I never complained. Weve never so much as haggled a dime in all of these years of dropping thousands of dollars and this is how you treat us? And this was just the latest thing (I can go on all day). Well, Beau, hope it was worth it. Goodbye!
This is the best store ever. I like the GC in Carle Place too but the Commack store is my favorite. The staff know A LOT about their products and if they dont, they take the time to find someone that does. If they dont have something stocked they find it on line or at another store with out any attitude They are quick to make suggestions about alternative products if they dont have exactly what you are looking for. They know their stuff and they truly want to make your experience in the store and outside, as a musician, easier. They are super friendly and everyone seems happy to be working there. Its hard to find the place if you dont know the area- but its worth looking for it.
This is probably one of the best stocked places for music equipment on the island. They have a wide selection of instruments and professional dj equipment. The prices are varied depending on the quality of the product and whether the items are new or used. I reccomend any up and coming or established musician to stop by this place for your next purchase.
Horrible. This was the 5th time i entered the store and encountered the same nonsense. They have only one person at the register and takes 40 minutes to get out of the store. Everyother employee just walks around while there is a line that hasnt moved an inch an 30 minutes . I was extremely disappointed and decided to take my business to Sam Ash.. I live alot closer to Guitar Center than Sam Ash bit atleast they attend to every customer. Not just those that are looking for big ticket items. I will be filing a complaint to corporate soon.
I agree with the user about guitar sales, theres been a lot of people quitting or getting fired in guitar sales and no one besides Bow can do anything if you have questions about instruments. Kind of not fair as I am a beginner and would have liked to know some stuff, but generally the put a guitar in your hand if your lucky and walk away. Rude :/
I love guitars, so naturally I go to guitar center. Its not just guitars, you know! They sell percussion instruments, keyboards, PA systems, you name it. if you have a good ear and know what youre doing you can get some bargains here. One caveat. Never sell them your equipment unless you are totally desperate for money. They will not give you a fair price. Im not calling them rip offs or anything, but unless you have something rare or exotic you are not going to get too much for it. Youre better off with Craigslist or Facebook market. Better yet use reverb, which is a site for selling musical instruments.I forgot to mention that they also teach lessons here. if they dont have a music program in your school and you have some school age children, please get them started in music. The younger you start the better off youll be later on!
I have been coming to the Commack, and Carle Place locations since they opened. I have never had a problem with any one there. In fact when they see me coming they all know that I am a Guitar Addict LOL. I have seen managers come, and go. I think Beau is an amazing, well knowledgeable Manager. He has the magic wand ,and will work with you to get you a good deal. People here complaining about the customer service at the Commack locale evidently dont know that you must use Honey to attract Bees, and not Piss, and Vinegar. Go take some courses in Respect to others. Thanks Beau!!

2021-12-10I tried to buy some gear and cleaning product from this store. A few years ago I had a terrible experience at the store off of Old Country Road. I tried to give Guitar Center another chance however, the sales people didn’t even wait till I finished my questions before moving on to another customer. Wanted to buy an EVH amp, but I guess someone else’s business is more important than mine. Guitar Center has horrible customer service and I guess if your over 50, they don’t care.

2022-04-06I can’t speak for the entire store but I do NOT recommend coming here if you are planning on visiting the pro audio department. I made a habit of stopping in after work a few days in a row when I was interested in buying a mic. Day 1 there was one staff member who was absolutely bogged down. He was fine, bought a used audio interface on a whim and headed out. Day 2, I was ready to buy a mic, headed in, spent a half hour wandering around without a single employee stepping foot into the pro audio area. Day 3, there were two reps in the department who did not greet me or even seem to acknowledge my existence. As a former sales rep (in audio, no less), it’s important to greet your customers and be proactive enough to assist them. Do you guys no longer work on commission? I was there to buy a $400.00 microphone but they wouldn’t of had a clue because they let me roam around for a half hour before they disappeared altogether. Out of principle, I drove to Selden’s location and was in/out with the mic I wanted in 5 minutes. When I worked this job, I’d of felt lucky to have someone walk in to buy a $400 item without me having to do anything but say hello and grab the keys to the display case. I’ll never go back here. I blame the reps who were there for not caring enough to acknowledge me but I also blame management for understaffing the place.

2022-03-02I used to spend lots of time here a while back, playing different guitars and trying different amps. Customers service has improved, they are friendly and knowledgeable. If they dont have something at the store they will order it for you.

2021-12-21This is my go-to store for my musical needs. Bo is great and sold me my first guitar almost 15 years ago. He is still there and always greets/helps me when I stop by. Thanks, Bo for being awesome. He is a big reason why Im loyal to GC!

2022-02-03This store takes forever to ship their used gears you buy online. Several days after placing an order and still dont ship. Other GC stores take only 1-3 days and gear is already in transit. Maybe they prefer local buyers or understaffed?

2021-12-25Merry Christmas especially to the sales person who sold me a electric Guitar without the plug to hook up with the amp, see not everyone comes in with knowledge and its the sales person job to make sure the customer has everything that goes with what they are purchasing, this Guitar was a gift that cant be played on Christmas day due to the rushed half hearted experience I had at the Commack location. I would put the salesman name on blast but I cant find the card he gave with his name and hours of work. Because I wouldnt recommend him to anyone! This isnt the first time at this location I felt unwelcomed or helped!
