Guitar Center in other cities:
Used gear at guitar center is getting crazy, I’ve seen modern Gibsons with broken head stocks going for like 100% + original cost. Trade ins are a joke, just employed lowballing you so they can just buy the gear them selves. I traded in a great shape les Paul studio a few years ago to buy a new Sg standard, and they told me the “ lp was fair”just so they could give me the lowest amount possible, but then I see these. Fair guitars being sold as excellent. Also had a poor experience with a Amp trade in, I traded up and the. New amp didn’t work, I was then not allowed to get my old trades back, gc litrally stole money :value from me and said too bad. Don’t support these corporate scumbags , go to a local shop.I’m a musician too, but I respect my self enough to not work at guitar center in 2022
Parking lot nights are in need of repair or the timer needs to be reset. Was there at 6:30pm in the winter and could barely see the parking lot.Nice store with very knowledgeable staff. Inventory of new instruments is a little low because of global shipping issues but youll still find what you need here or they can order it in for you. They have a nice post-covid lessons area for instruction with multiple booths built for safe teaching which was impressive. They also have a nice selection of new vinyl records and music accessories. Definitely check this place out just to browse or for something particular. Its a bit overwhelming with so much in one place but its awesome and well organized/zoned by instrument type
Helped by a very patient man (not sure of name) as I bought a Yamaha keyboard today. I was in the market for one; he helped me find one that sounded great and when I was slightly short on cash, allowed me to change my order to buy a different power adapter and put a product aside, so that my cash would suffice. He probably had a ton of other things going on at work, so I truly appreciate his stellar customer service and product knowledge.
Ive been going to this Guitar Center for many years and Ive always been very happy with the staffs high level of customer service. I recently had an issue regarding an online purchase and Steve the manager went out of his way to get the problem resolved. Very friendly and accommodating staff! I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this store to anyone interested in purchasing music gear.
Terrible customer service experience. Called ahead to confirm they had the cables i needed in stock. They said they had 6 in stock. Drove 35 minutes to buy 3 adapter cables and when I got there they only had one. Laying in the back, out of the box. Wont be shopping here in the future.
No problem with equipment and people but with the AUTO PAY from your account. There is NO good reason for them to set up and take money from ANY of your accounts without notifying you, NONE.To get your money back is not an easy task, the manager had a hard time even finding my name let alone any other information on me. I paid for 3 and get one free promotion. Now I have to deal with the AUTOMATIC WITHDRAWAL of my money for wanted and unasked for services.Wonder how many people haven’t notice this?
Been thinking about a new guitar for a little while. I stopped in after work and had a very friendly greeting from an employee, they gave me no stress or haggling as I went about looking for my next potential instrument. I came across a few guitars I was interested in and Chris had stopped to ask me if I was interested in anyone of the guitars I looked at. He gave me as much info on them as he knew and helped me pick out my brand new beautiful Schecter Diamond Series C-1 Platinum. Thankyou for everything. I will be in again sometime soon for more gear.
Apparently an amp set to 1 watt for less than a minute is too loud for the staff at this store to converse with each other. This is a guitar store, not a library. Or rather it should be, the service at this location has always been awful. If Im not being solicited and pestered by salesmen, one of them is coming to cry about their fragile little ears getting damaged.Funny thing is, I was considering buying an amplifier; awfully hard to buy something without trying it out. Ill take my business elsewhere, hopefully to a store that hasnt already gone through bankruptcy.Adding a star for the amp inventory, would be higher if I was able to actually play through half of them, considering a sizable portion of them werent even plugged in. Ill be back for the closing sale.
Staffs are friendly, but the stock that they have is always on the expensive side. So, if you are on low budget, have less amount of money to spend on your favourite gadgets this is not the right place to look for. However, if your budget is on the medium or higher side, you wont get a better place than this store to check out options.Altogether a good place to look out for large range of expensive products.
Used to have knowledgeable staff, used to carry high quality pro-level gear and used to offer fair and honest used gear buying and selling. I have watched a kid who was their repair person adjust a bridge on an expensive guitar 100% wrong yet insist it was correct. They now carry mostly beginner gear, the staff is all kids that act like theyre rock stars but apparently know very little and if you try to sell any gear they will lie about the resale value and low-ball you beyond belief. I think honestly this location is underperforming and on the verge of closing judging by how badly every facet of a once great store has deteriorated in every possible way. Sad, because when G.C. came here they wiped out all our great local music shops so now theres nowhere left to go and personally Im forced to buy internet gear sight unseen and trust shipping companies to not damage or lose it.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! I love that theyre are so many musical displays that you can try before you buy. I have been looking to upgrade my keyboard and because I was able to try out several different models, I will be back this week to make my purchase!
They were very helpful. They communicate between stores to help you not have to wait for items if at all possible. They went above and beyond for us. We actually had to go to 2 stores. Brandon at the Walden store was exceptional! Thank you for all your help to both stores!
Have mixed customer service. Prices okay. Have not had much luck there in terms of finding what I need as a professional musician. Might be more because of customer service issues than not carrying item. Might need to diversify their staff in terms of instrument expertise and gender. Repair service was very good.
Guitar Center used to be the greatest place to buy musical equipment, but now is its the Walmart of buying gear. If youre going to buy strings and stuff like that fine, but anything else is the biggest hassle that Ive ever gone through. any time Ive ever purchased anything. For example they have TC pedals on sale but when you go there they have none in stock. Its bait and switch but their salesmen arent even smart enough to do even do that. I purchased An Origin Marshall 50 watt head, when it got to my house almost 6 weeks later it showed up used and 2 years old. Their customer service is a joke. They told me that itll be in in 2 weeks. After 6 weeks of listening to that I just called Sweetwater and they sent me my origin 50 watt head in three days. So what Guitar Center cant do in 3 months Sweetwater did in 3 days. Theyre going out of business. They already filed chapter 11
The place is completely empty if you play keyboards, it truly is the guitar center. And remember if you’re going to bring equipment in there to sell to them even if it’s a brand new piece of gear, like a keyboard that you paid $1300 for eight months prior you only gonna get 600 bucks they are going to burn you to the ground with that price so before you bring your gear in there you’re better off trying to sell it somewhere else because they will hammer you. The prices are absolutely outrageous they’ve Got little to no used gear
Love it, its surprising how much that cater to bass players its actually amazing! I even got bass picks, do you know how hard they are to find? The answer is very hard, and guess what with Guitar Center its actually not all that hard to find. Check them out its pretty great, and the people there are very nice, you can even jam without buying anything (although its probably not recommended)
The customer service may as well have been non existent. I was asked a couple questions about what I needed, I described my situation because I wasnt sure what I needed exactly. He mumbled some stuff to himself, talked to another staff member and said he had to see if there were more in the back. After feeling the need to solo a bit on a guitar he had tuned for some kid, he came back to tell me they didnt have whatever he was looking for, still not explaining to me what that was. I asked if something I had found would do the trick, he said it wasnt for the type of guitar I have and turned away and walked off. Certainly will not be returning.
I went there for the first time ever today wanting to buy a starter setup for electric guitar. The associates were pretty friendly and not overly pushy with sales or anything. I seen a few used guitars I was interested in but not knowing much about guitars I wanted to at least look up some reviews online before I commit to one in particular. I had my 2yr old with me and he was overdue for lunch and a nap so I had to leave before making a decision. While my kid was napping I researched the few guitars I had seen there and amps. I figured out which ones I wanted and called the store to ask if they still had them (they said yes to both items) and if they could hold the guitar and amp just for 2hrs max till my kid woke up and I could get back in. The guy said sure no problem. I got there about 1.5hrs after the guy said no problem to holding it for 2hrs. The amp was gone and the guitar still on the rack. When they got the guy I talk to on the phone he was like oh well I guess it’s gone, why don’t you just buy a new one instead since they didn’t have any other comparable used amps. I said I needed to stick to a certain budget so a new one wouldn’t work. The guy said ok let me know if u need anything else. He was not friendly or helpful like the the other guys on my earlier visit. I planned to buy other accessories like strap, cord, picks, and whatever they recommended as necessary but instead I walked out empty handed and upset. I wanted to learn guitar and teach my son when he gets a little older, I’m sure I will probably spend a boat load on guitars and accessories over the next however many years because that’s how I am with my hobbies but I doubt I will be spending any money at this store.
Some of the employees know their stuff, but others clearly just work there and dont have a background in music. Its not a huge issue if you know what you want and what you like, but getting an opinion from an informed individual might mean asking a few different people. Overall, its one of the few remaining brick and mortar music stores and as such it serves its purpose.
Disappointed! I love Guitar Center in Rochester, NY, but had to travel an hour and a half to the Tonawanda location on Niagara Falls Blvd. to pick up a specific guitar I was searching for that they had in stock. After talking with a rep (Chris) from the store in Tonawanda who confirmed they had one in a box, I had him put it on hold for me. He said that he would check it over for me, which I fully expect a music store that sells instruments to do... its a fundementnal function in my eyes. Upon arrival another rep grabbed the guitar for me because Chris was taking care of another customer at that time. He asked if I would like to check it out before I took it. I said that I didnt feel the need since I just purchased one a month ago and knew how well the instrument played and that Chris said he would check it out for me; again, something that I feel is a fundementnal function of a music store selling instruments. The rep assisting me at that time had slightly opened the box and said he wasnt certain if it had been gone over by Chris, however am older guy there said it had been as he saw Chris going over it and tuned it up for me. However, when I got home and opened the box the guitar was still wrapped in a foam sleeve that was taped shut. Not only did the tape look like it had never been disturbed, I quickly realized once I removed the guitar from the sleeve that the strings were completely wrapped in paper and taped, which also did not appear to be disturbed. Needless to say that I wasnt the least bit surprised that it was totally out of tune. As a customer that has purchased multiple guitars (including a Les Paul and Stratocaster), multiple amps, a synthesizer, numerous affects pedals and a ton of associated gear I am extremely upset and question the quality of service that Guitar Center provides its customers. I have spent thousands of dollars at Guitar Center. I wont spend another penny there anymore after this revelation/experience. If I wanted to but a guitar fresh out of the box without a professional checking it out first I could have bought it online and had it shipped to my house for free instead of driving an hour and a half to pick one up, which is what Ill do in the future. Or, spend my money at the other music stores in my area. Very disappointed! Goodbye Guitar Center. You should be ashamed! I know I am for being so gullible thinking that you offered the minimum level of attention that I expect. I suspect most other customers expect the same. Thankfully the manufacturer takes pride in their work and the guitar plays beautifully!
I was sold around $1000 worth of equipment as new, got home and noticed it was opened and retaped... then the registration code was allready used making my 1k worth of equipment completely useless!!Pretty sure he didnt give me a reciept on purpose because of this, telling me its ok because it would be saved in the system. Then I call and hes like oh oops, just contact native instruments and have them give u new registration code but I need a pic of my reciept for that!!!Now I have to drive an hour there and then back again to hopefully get them to right this wrong... Im beyond livid. Will update this review after they either tell me to screw myself or if they actually take responsibility and make things right. Have to wait a week for a ride tho 🤦🏽♂️Completely ruined my childlike glee when I got home and opened my awesome new toy to find useless junk...I was so excited :(

When go in I am always armed with comparable prices. They always honor the lowest price. The store reps. can be pushy though. One store rep was completely out of line with comments he made. The store manager handled it. But it left me with the feeling that I should just order online. I think the corporation pushes the employees which in turn push the customer. I deal with only one person there for that reason.
Scheduled guitar lessons for my son, and when we showed up for his first lesson there was no instructor and no manager to talk to. They told us to call the next day and talk to the manager. We called today and the manager was too busy to talk and was supposed to call us back within an hour. 3 hours later we called back and he was gone for the day. We’ve already paid for the first month of lessons, but can’t get them. I can understand a mixup for lessons (although it shouldn’t happen), but why make a bad situation worse by not calling us back?????Please contact us at your earliest convenience to straighten this out - it shouldn’t be this difficult.
Been disappointed twice in past month. Went to Cheektowaga store ready to drop 2K on a complete drum set, was in store for 20 minutes and was ignored by multiple staff standing at counter chatting, presumably because Im transgender. Went to Amherst store yesterday where I was treated kindly and respectfully however there was no staff at the store with any knowledge of drums. Sad.
Ive bought a few guitars and a few amps from here, most of them were used and a few new ones. The good thing is they get a good rotation of used gear in frequently. Ive seen lots of used gear that was in good shape and some that was not but it was priced accordingly, and the staff made sure that you knew what was wrong with it before you walked out the door with it. The sales staff is low key but very helpful, When I wanted to buy a tube amp there was no problem with plugging them in for me and letting me decide and answer questions about each amp. Like I said the ever changing selection is enough of a reason to keep checking them out, and the used prices are pretty good also. On the other hand if youre looking to sell or trade in they are very firm on what theyll pay for your gear. Ive only traded in one guitar there because I just got tired of trying to sell it. In the end I may have lost about $20.00 trading it it, but whatever They will price match though even on something as small as a set of strap locks or tuners. I bought a set of Schallers and they not only matched the price ffrom the online retailer they adjusted the price so that with the tax it came out the exact same. In the end, its corporate America selling guitars. I used to go before they were bought out by Bain Capital and it was far easier to get deals from the sales staff.
While I do value Product knowledge and information from a Sales Representative above everything, being listened to, and treated with respect is certainly a close second. In My experience, the Sales Reps who exemplify both the former, and the latter are Steve Terranova in Guitars, and certainly Andrew Young, who is an outstanding Guitar Tech. Steve has given Me excellent recommendations, and Andrew has done some very nice Modifications to My Guitar more than once, and definitely knows what he is talking about. Just as importantly, both are very down to earth and Chill Dudes, which is all you can ask for.
Customer Service isnt up to par. I walked in with a sleeping baby in my arms and browsed the store for about 10 minutes and was never greeted or offered assistance. (It was during mid morning hours, the store was practically empty, one more customer besides myself, appr. 5-7 employees) None of those employees looked busy...several were chatting about holiday schedules, one was playing music on a guitar.. etc. I slowly walked out and went to the cheektowaga location..
Have been here numerous times for used gear most of the time itsBroken or horribly dinged up (thats there vintage vibe or mojo as they call it) and every time its overpriced. Staff can be rude and pushy. If you want to check something out its a good place to go and sometimes they have a good deal or two just be really weary and never buy used without thoroughly researching it and checking it out first hand. They are a business after all first and foremost.
Went on to shop between an Amp or a Guitar on my birthday this past Wednesday and it was the worst experience I’ve had since I’ve stepped foot in this location.I’ve always shopped and supported this Location since I was a kid and when I asked to simply figure out what was going with the guitar not working with the Amp I wanted to try out the damn representative that was not focused on trying to help me out was just all over the damn place. The I was interested in a used PRS SE model they had in the wall and the input jack was all loose, they didn’t even bother to make sure the used instrument are at least presentable or working in that matter when I’m trying to make a purchase.Ultimately I said the hell with this place,I will never go back to this Guitar Center ever again and I’ve been a customer since my early Teen years,Cheektowaga Location at least act like they care for their customers.
While engineering a 4-sheet national hockey tournament I noticed the shipped headsets for PBP seemed incompatible with our audio mixers. After trying various adaptors I owned, I was thankful we have a local Guitar Center to turn to for assistance. Two associates worked together collaboratively hands-on troubleshooting with me to find a working solution.. loved the help. Alas, we never did get it working as the possibly-needed adaptor wasnt on-hand (a 3.5mm TRS female to 1/4 TS Male), Im still immensely grateful for their efforts.Knocked one star because we never got it working, but still, these guys rock.
Bought over $800 worth of used DJ gear from this location over their online store, only to find out after the fact that they didnt properly request the Native Instruments transfer ID (which is necessary for proper registration of this hardware with Native Instruments) when they bought it used for resale to customers. This seems to me to be akin to selling a car without a title. I was surprised that a major retailor like Guitar Center would do something like that but even more surprised when they were unwilling to even try to reach out to whoever they bought it from to request the transfer ID. They never mentioned online or over the phone that it doesnt come with official substantiation for registering with Native Instruments. The whole reason i bought from Guitar Center and not craigslist, etc, was to avoid this kind of fly by night stuff.Beware when it comes to buying used gear from guitar center, because apparently theyre not into properly transfering officiated ownership to the people they resell products to.Now I have to hope that Native Instruments can make this right, otherwise I will have to return this item and look elsewhere.
The only thing I dont like about this place is that I dont own it. I would be bad for business because I would be in there playing with every instrument and every new item that hits the store. If you play guitars drums or instrumentalist you have already been here, but if you havent you owe it to yourself to go there its a toy store for musicians
The worst place ever . I am trying to spend cash at this place . I went to 3 place 1 in rochester ny and 2 in buffalo ny both places did not have any good dj controllers on display . If they did have a dj controller on this place it did not work at all . Then no 1 even came up to me to ask or to check if I needed anything . Cooperation should pick up there game at these places and check whats going on in there stores
I went to the one in buffalo and they are a rip off when it comes to trading your equipment that you just recently brought from them. For example I paid $500 dollars for the Gt100 guitar effects pedal and when I tried to trade it in to get another quality investment for another item. The store could only give me $200 for an expensive $500 guitar pedal.I have had this pedal board for 1 year and it is still to this today, in extremely good condition. I decided to trade it in for a upgraded pedal, the GT1000 Effects Pedal which was only $500 more than my Gt100.I think that they are very bias towards types of ppl. Due to seeing other cultures trading in their expensive gear and getting better service than what I was getting.I will never attempt to trade in my equipment there again. I recommend going to the guitar center in Rochester because the store treats every customer with the utmost respect and are very helpful in making sure you get a fair trade on your music items.Note I have heard all of the excuses as to why the store here in buffalo will not give me a fair trade. Some of the excuses were vague, for example, the guitar I purchase in 1994 was a G&L ASAT Telecaster made in the USA and also a Fender product. Guitar Center reps. Made the excuse that my guitar was not found anywhere in stores online. Therefore they could not determine if the instrument had any value or not. The second excuse was my guitar was to old and beat up from playing it. Although my guitar was old and beat up from playing it. I have experienced other musician bringing in the same old equipment and again getting better service and better deals concerning upgrading and trading in their used equipment. So again Rochester Guitar Center is not bias towards ppl. But strive to give ppl. The best quality service and great deals to all its customers no matter what nationality they are.
Items are mostly over priced, can find same items for much less on competitors websites. Its never a quick in and out experience. One time I had to wait in line for an employee to finish having a personal conversation with a customer that lasted over 10 minutes, all I needed was a 6ft patch cord. That being said they got almost anything you might need.
Charles my music teacher for Guitar and sorry that I only saw you once because my autism and bad meltdown that got me arrested and hurt head to. I so love that you help me from nonverbal meltdown because of my parents abuse to me. I am in hospital waiting for group home then plan on calling for more. I understand if opwdd Eligible I can get music therapist who can teach me this but too much change and I enjoy Charles.
Waited for help while the one associate helped 4 people....meanwhile the pro audio specialist was wandering around not helping at all....I was in there for 45 minutes hoping to buy something and had to walk out empty handed over the lack of service/attention.....this place has gotten worse and worse over the years and has forced me to Sweetwater where they are actually attentive to you.....

2022-07-09I bought two guitars here this week, a DAngelico Bedford for my daughter and a Gibson Les Paul Studio for myself. The staff are friendly, remember your name, answer questions politely and knowledgeably, and genuinely seem helpful at every turn. Ill definitely be stopping in again down the road when its time to grow my unreasonable guitar collection even more.

2022-04-23My problem was not typical, but Chris listened and gave me the info on what I needed. He set aside the Roland VT I needed for work and let me know when he was on today so I could come in and work with him. I got here, he was busy but Simon picked up the beat and walked me through. He made sure I had the right cords and that my mic would work with it. Both guys were excellent, professional and outgoing. Another customer had a question while Simon helped me, and he handled both of us adeptly. Well done. Cannot recommend this store enough. I saw staff engaging customers and helping them the whole time I was here.

2022-07-24What a great experience, came to this store from Canada just to check it out, met Davy and left with an amazing Strat and a hell of a deal! Great guy, so helpful and very knowledgeable, had some great stories too! Thanks again man, I’ll be back. Next time hopefully there is a bigger variety of guitars, given the supply chain issues in sure it’s hard to get any inventory. Highly recommend asking for Davy!

2022-06-26This is the busiest Guitar centers Ive been to but the staff treated me well and gave me a fair price for my Drum set and guitar amp. They usually stay within the 60 % of what they can sell your equipment unless its really used or poor condition. A bunch of helpful young guys working helped carry my set in. They do their research and they have an expert on mostly all the instruments. If I get back in the music game Ill be coming here again not the one in Cheektowaga!

2022-06-28Knowledgeable employees who dont hoover but will assist and give input on request. Each seem to have a slight instrument specialty so you can get experienced opinions if you ask. Plenty of parking. Road construction currently, 6.28.22, but still easy access, just go slowly!

2022-04-20I do not recommend this place or location for lessons. My 7 year old has been taking lessons there for about 6 months and the level of customer service has been awful. First they put you on automatic payments which I was not even aware of until I went to pay for the next set of lessons after the initial 4 and was informed of this information. Don’t you have to agree to have your credit card stored let alone enrolled in automatic payment without your knowledge and clear communication. I can’t help but feel like they are breaking privacy law especially after seeing other reviewers stating that they were not aware that they were on automatic payments. For any other I institution, I had to click a button and read an agreement to have automatic payment. Secondly, I have requested to speak to the lesson lead Tom at least four times in the 6 month tenure and not once has he called me back. The one time I talked to him he promised me a callback the same night or the next day and never called back. The store is poorly managed and disorganized in regards to lesson. They have no records of any request or conversations so when you call back everyone is super confused. No one takes the time to look at the situation and make a rational decision. In my case I requested to cancel the lessons going forward and was still charged for lessons that my son will not be taking. They refused to refund me the money for unused lessons even though I called them the same day of the charge to inform them it was wrong and the lesson was a week away. They pretty much told me I was lying and since they have no request to cancel future lesson they are keeping the money for lessons I don’t intend on using. Tom advised that Steve, the store manager, has “maybe spoken” to the district manager, Jeremy Hanhold who advised to keep my money. Where is the money going to go if no one is taking the lessons? How can you justify keeping money for four lessons when you charged me even after I requested to cancel? They are definitely no Amazon customer service or any leading company level as the store is poorly managed with lack of communication between the employees. I was planning on returning there in the fall for lesson but that will not happen and I highly do not recommend this place for anyone that would like to take lessons.

2021-12-15We had an amazing experience. First time in the store and we didnt know alot about guitars. Employee took time listening to what we wanted, took time explaining various options and trying out different guitars. Gave us lots of good advise and ended up selling us a guitar and case at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend them.

2022-05-17A book cushions from the guitar store also have purchased a Yamaha keyboard for myself and these are the best instruments Ive purchased in quite a while I love the guitar store and I think youll love it too thumbs up to you guitar store
