Servers were really friendly. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed by the food. The chicken tikka wings were good, but the drumsticks had no meat on them. I usually love salmon, but the salmon tikka was a little too fishy for my taste. Chai martini was pretty good, but overpriced for the quantity.
The ambiance is great. The place is decorated nicely and they have a great selection of music although its a tad on the loud side. The drinks are unique and tasty but fairly pricey. The food is good but not amazing. We had 4 appetizers: fried chicken, lamb pav, paneer cheese rollups and amritsari chole Tiki. The fried chicken was the only phenomenal dish and this place is worth visiting just for that. The rest of the dishes were fairly routine. Paneer had a hard texture and a little difficult to eat (if you want the best paneer of your life, go to Dhamaka) the lamb pav is good but you only get two small pieces of pav as you can see in the picture. They should halve the portion of the dish and make it $6 cheaper. The wife enjoyed the chole Tiki. 4 appetizers and 2 drinks came out to ~$140 with tip which is def on the pricey side. This place received 4 stars solely for the fried chicken and if I return it will be just to eat that again. Otherwise I would say theres nothing wholly memorable about it.
Great service! Food was good too. Got the Dahi Sev Puri and it was amazing - creamy, yet light, definitely worth trying and a great and refreshing start to our meal. Got the Delhi Butter Chicken and Paneer Butter Masala to share between our party of 3 and it was enough. There probably could have been more chicken in the Delhi Butter Chicken for the price but both dishes were delicious. We also got the garlic naan (really good) and a side of rice - we couldnt believe that the naan and rice were additional as theyre usually included. So prices are definitely steep here and may not be worth it for some - 4 stars.
Amazing place for Indian food. Went here for a business dinner and just fell in love with this place. The food is high quality ingredients and meat, bursting with flavors. The chicken sheekh Kabab, Biryani and palak paneer were superb. The dahi puri was good, however was only stuffed with dahi. The pomegranate Raita was very good. The cocktails were superb and they have a solid collection of indian, Japanese and scotch whiskey 🥃
Excellent friendly service, keema pao was the favorite, butter chicken and cheese chilli kulcha was very tasty. Only issue was the lamb burger was very rare to the point it just mushes all over the place when you try to eat it, would have been perfect if cooked longer. The masala fries were delicious though
Our server, Baba, offered us fantastic hospitality and made sure we were more than satisfied at the end of the day. The food was delicious. If you want a classic get the butter chicken. Want something more trendy? Try the butter chicken wings. You may say theyre the same thing but I assure you they are not! Try the gulab jamun for dessert. If you want Indian food in the city, come here! You will support a local small business and you will not regret it! The food is instagrammable and youve probably seen it on someones story.
Love the ambience. Exceptional Service. Food was pretty good, and drinks were phenomenal (funny names too). The only thing I found to be negative were the prices. A little bit over priced for the quantity, quality that they serve. Would definitely come back again though.
I came here to say that the Salmon Tikka is by far the best salmon I have had in ages. With a sprinkle of lime juice and the pickled onions on the side it was just perfectly flakey and buttery. The taste had a tiny hint of char broiled flavor which added the perfect touch to our evening. The chicken biryani was a bit on the dry side but still enjoyable. The chili mango Lassi was definatly a new experience but not a bad one. The only issue I had was in the beginning we were seated in the street and until multiple attempts of getting a better table we were finally seated inside right by the entrance. Our host seemed annoyed by our request, yes it is my fault for not making reservations but I would rather wait a few minutes than be seated outside right next to a sewer cover. The decor inside was tasteful and had some old Indian movie posters and nice cultural paintings. Overall I will be back for the salmon!
This was extremely delicious. I liked it a lot. Starting with the devour, which was very cool, idk if its authentic, but for a non-indian I felt a bit of the culture, which I liked. The service was good, which is important, since the spice level requires water often. Which brings me to the food itself, it was very flavourful, spicy in a food way and had a distinct flavours compared to other Indian restaurants I tried in the past. The cauliflower was delicious and so was the potato dish. great experience 😊
Quite an amazing place to go with family and friends.Amazing ambience..love the latest trendy music and offcourse the food super yummy. Lil spicy but enjoyed it.The drinks were not that impressive. The decor is on point. I feel the service was good fast service.Bit prciey for the qty.
This place was such a delight! As a South Asian American, Im usually, by nature, a bit more discerning of the dishes served at these types of restaurants. I was skeptical, but GupShup really delivered. Each menu item I tried was not only an innovative combo, but it was delicious as heck too. The drinks were a perfect complement and I was really pleased by how well thought it out the full range of offerings was. Whats more, the entire staff was so friendly and accommodating, you felt really comfortable in the experience. I took a really close friend of mine here as a birthday surprise and we had such a lovely, delicious, & uplifting time. Highly recommend!
Amazing food from starter to desert ! This is a must try. The staff was very friendly and our waitress was able to help us pick out the perfect order to fit our drinks. Hot kohli, Nagpur orange, Ayurveda, Last Viceroy etc. Must try Butter chicken & Mutton Ghosh along with starter Sev puri.
Overpriced, okayish restaurant. We were seated outside, felt like sitting in kids classroom - clustered small seating - very uncomfortable.Had delhi butter chicken - and being from delhi, it was not at all at par with authentic Delhi butter chicken. Only flavor i could get was sweetness. Also had butter chicken wings - which were just dry chicken wings with hardly a dash of butter chicken sauce - disappointing!Keema pav was good but pav proportion was very smallWith that price and vibe - simple not worth it!
We went there for our anniversary dinner last night…*One star is for quick service and good hospitality*One star is for kids friendly environment*One star is for neat and clean environmentFood was just average (pricey)Portion size is lessMenu is not updated (most of the items are not available)Very less options for vegetarians (you will get paneer, saag and daal only )If you are true coconut lover thn order coconut icecream. Gulab Jamun was ok
A very authentic Indian restaurant in NYC, one must not miss! The flavors of both chicken tikka & kheema pav were an absolute 10/10.A must visit definitely !Slightly pricey but worth it.Drinks were good too!Staff was friendly !Overall a nice experience ♥️Reservation recommended.
BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN NYC!! I am from Indian descent and love dining at Indian restaurants, and this one is by FAR the best. The drinks were absolutely amazing, food was unbelievable and the service was top notch. Music and vibe were also so great and I already can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend this place if you are not only looking for great Indian cuisine, but also a good time with great ambiance!!!! Loved it so much!!!
Food was very good, but took 28 minutes(!) between when my food was brought to the table and when my companion’s food was. Awkward to sit with food getting cold for half an hour waiting for the other person’s. I asked the manager to remove the cost of a dish and she would only remove $13 of the $113 bill, saying she had no authority to do any more, her manager wasn’t there, and he wouldn’t do anything either. I’d avoid this restaurant.
What I love about this restaurant is the story. From the original cocktails with high quality liquor infused with Indian ingredients to the fresh and comfortable food to the ambience of thousand tiffins lining the wall to the black and white photos lining the staircase embraced by garlands of marigold---all of it took me back in time to have a truly authentic experience that my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed. The food was excellent. The service was on point. But what I loved the most was the story and the way the whole experience made me feel. Restaurants should tell a story and the passion of the proprietors came through in this restaurant. I highly recommend it.
Ive been wanting to come by this place for so long now and I was finally able to earlier this week. I had the waiter recommend my friend and I a few dishes and he definitely the chose the best. For apps we decided to get the Goat seekh kebabs which was extremely flavorful. I would recommend this app! I also tried a non-alcoholic guava drink which was delicious. For entrees my friend got the achaari chicken and I got the barberry pulao lamb chops which was just perfect! The restaurant is colorful and beautiful both inside and out. Id recommend this place for special occasions!Ps - make sure you try the warm and gooey gulab jamuns for dessert!!
Cutlery was on point. Weighted bronze handles made you think you were dining with royals.Chairs were comfy too and no wobbly table legs in sight.Food was spot on too. Not really much traditional dishes but they add a good spin to some classics.Definitely hit the strawberry lassi to soften your tongue after a spicy dish.
I dont have enough words to explain how AMAZING this place is! GupShup is by far one of our favorite restaurants to keep dining at in NYC. The food is beyond flavorful and incredibly delicious, they have the most unique cocktails and the ambience is nothing short of being transformed into a colorful Indian wedding. GupShup has nailed taking Indian cuisine to the next level with their modern twist on classic dishes. Aside from the food, another huge reason we keep going back is their over the top service. Everytime we go Jimmy and his team make us feel like family and the staff goes beyond the norm to take care of us. If youre visiting NYC, this place should definitely be on the top of your list!
This restaurant is truly an hidden gem in Union Square. Reminding me of back home in India, bringing back old TIFFIN memories and playing around the PCO. I didn’t expect that at all from the outside , but walking through the door, it’s a totally different vibe. The ambience and the mini touches like tiffins on the wall , really make you miss India. The art work is very well thought out , and brings the place out. We came in for Dinner , so we started with the Goat Sheekh Kababs. They were out of this world , definitely the only place that’s has this. On to the mains we order LAMB CHOPS BARBERRY PULAO and ACHARI CHICKEN. Both didn’t disappoint at all. Also the portion size was perfect !Ambience - 10/10Service -10/10WIFI- Not SureNoise Level - NormalHappy Hour - Not SureBrunch - YesLunch Menu - YeaParking - Good LuckHalal - Everything is Halal
I honestly have nothing bad to say about my experience at GupShup. The food was absolutely amazing - my favorite was the Gupshup fried chicken (a must-have!!) & the masala chai martini. The ambiance was so vibey, there were so many photo ops/spots and the music was great. But my favorite part was the service - everyone was so friendly and they took care of us SO well!! The food and drinks came out super fast. I will definitely be coming back :)
I remember when my wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant 3 months ago. The experience was a magical one. The service was impeccable that night. It left us wanting to come back. Fast forward to last night where we wanted to celebrate a dear friends academic success along with her husband and thus, had made reservations through Resy one week prior. I even called them the morning of the reservation to request that we be seated indoor on the 2nd floor. We arrived 10 minutes prior to the reservation and was met by the hostess, who made us feel very unwelcome. We requested a drink from the bar while we wait for our table and was denied and asked to stand outside! Are you kidding!! Anyway, a gentlemen named Baba saved the day and escorted us inside to get that coveted drink.Time for our reservation and guess what, theyre arranging and escorting us to the table on the 1st floor and near the restroom! Can you guess my embarrassment in front of my wife and our friends ????? Im still upset and fuming! When confronted with the situation, my wife was told by presuming who is the Manager, that no seats are guaranteed and because it is a famous restaurant, reservations are done 1 month prior. I dont think thats true............We chose to sit outside, the chairs were uncomfortable and the table was small. We adapted. The food is good. We ordered cheese paneer rolls, the butter chicken wings, the gupshup wings, the Achari chicken with garlic naan, an order of prawns and the the biryani and topped it off with desserts. Phew!!! I do want to say that we were unimpressed with the cocktails as they were tasty, yes but we can tell the corresponding liquor was limited.Thank you for your time and we will not be coming back. It will not make a difference to the establishment, or maybe it will. I want to say that the competition for Indian contemporary fusion cuisine in the city is fierce!
Terrible to say the least. The 1 star is mostly for the horrible service and rude staff - we were made to wait for every single thing including the cheque. Seems they were eager to please the regulars than be at the least courteous to new customers. One such specific example was that our dessert was sitting on the bar table for a long long time until the wait staff patronized with the regulars and by the time the dessert arrived at our table the ice cream had become soup! And the food overall was also quite sub par and way overpriced! Never going again.
Truly an experience. Bombay type cousin with classic plates full of flavor. The ambience is nice, with a homey feel. Food presentations and flavor where incredible. Drinks were amazing, infusing indian flavors into classic cotails. Enjoy with some friends/family and order for the table, you wont regret it.
I am actually here right now finishing of my dessert . The chicken biriany was good, loved the dabi chat. The mock tail was good. I didn’t like the icecream though. The decor is good but not what I expected. Little disappointed. And they have a time limit for only an hour . The service is good. I didn’t like the fact that the leftover which I intended to take home, they just drop the plastic box on my table . Would I come back ? We will see ____
We were a group of 6 people who visited this place on a Friday for dinner. Starting with drinks : all of them were really good. However, we were disappointed with the foodFor appetizers we ordered the below out of which only Paneer cheese rolls and Keema pav were good- Tandoori Cauliflower- this had no tandoor/Smokiness at all. It was a huge chunk of boiled cauliflower with sweet sauce. Very disappointing- Butter chicken wings- These were ok and had no butter chicken flavor as the name suggestsFor Large plates we went with below- Nalli Nihari- this wasnt that great either since the lamb had a weird smell and the curry was also not upto the mark- Lucknowi Chicken biryani- Was average, nothing great. There are way better biryanis in any other Indian restaurants aroundOverall taste wise it was very much disappointing especially for the price they charge for!
They have really nice service. However the food is overpriced!!! I ordered gupshup fried chicken. It was pretty decent portion and it tasted like sweeter version of chicken 65. For a 25$ appetizer, I dont think its worth it.I also ordered a hot like kohli cocktail and it was horrible!!! The name sounds fascinating, but drink is plane sugary ( really sweet!!) with a dry red Chilli on top. You definitely dont wanna bite into the dry Chilli. If Im paying 20$$$$ dollar for a cocktail, it better be good.Overall experience was not good! Wish the price of the food was justified by the taste.I dont think Ill return.
Great drinks, but other than that this place is just hype. Service was lackluster, very much a take it or leave it attitude. The main issue is the restaurant tries so hard to be modern Indian that it forgets its an Indian restaurant. Some of the dishes are so random, like a sev puri, which was basically a pani puri stuffed with nothing but a tablespoon of Greek yogurt with tamarind drizzle on top...lol okay. Or the bottom barrel of left over fried okra thats thinner than shoe string fries, served over guacamole? Impractical and inauthentic, but will make for a good Instagram photo. Kudos to the bartender though, drinks were excellent.
I was excited to check out this restaurant after seeing pics of their but was not too impressed after my visit. thoughts:The good:-Salmon Tikka appetizer is really good-Waiter was pleasant-Drinks are creative-Falooda dessert was really goodThe bad:-Both dishes we ordered (achari chicken & Mushroom) almost tasted the same, the gravy for both dishes was too alike and too heavy. The chicken was too tough to cut into.-Service seemed a bit pushy trying to get you out so they can seat another table.-The bill was way too high for two dishes, two drinks and appetizer.-The seating is not too comfortable and it gets very loud in the restaurant.-The restaurant also has a bit of an old Indian smell to it (not sure if this was intentional or they just have old Indian boxes/items laying around), They should either air out the room or add a more pleasant scent into the room.
Fun and tasty Indian food. The lamb stew dish (nizaams haleem) was beautiful and a lot of fun to eat. I went for brunch and we could order off both the brunch and dinner menu.I’m not usually a bagel person but their twist on the everything bagel was delicious. The butter chicken and rice was also great. Cute outdoor dining tent. Overall a great experience.
It took over 50 minutes to get our food, it wasn’t busy, and the staff did not communicate that our order would take that amount of time. To add insult to injury, they ignored us that entire time, the food itself was mediocre (with the price of excellence) and continued inattentiveness from staff even after the check was requested. As a positive, our waiter seemed to have an excellent social life with other staff members.
Excellent! Loved the place, the ambiance, the vibe, the decor. The Masala chai martini was excellent, done just right. Loved the chicken biryani- soft and well marinated chunks of chicken done in a flavorful rice preparation. The palak paneer was perfect, the garlic naan soft and crisp, done to perfection. Our server Baba took good care of us, service was very good. Will definitely go back.
Service: 4/10 hated my waiter with his attitude and of course service!Cocktails: 8/10 names are unique and taste was not badChicken Biryani: 2/10 terrible chicken flavoringGoat biryani: 5/10 flavor was lacking but salt was in u like the chicken. However, it was definitely not dum biryani. If you ever have both biryanis, youll get why Im writing this.Jackfruit tacos: 10/10Nihari: 7/10 I wish there was more flavor but the yogurt took it away. The lamb shank was perfectly cooked though.Cheese kulcha: 8/10 it was burnt on top but the inside was goodFalooda: 10/10Lasltly please watch out for that 20% service charge. It should only be charged for 5 guests or more which is clearly written on their website. We were only two and we were charged with that automatically. I made the waiter change it!
Really liked their outdoor dining setup with screens around every table. The person taking our order was very helpful in providing recommendations. Food was good and was cooked to perfection.Their Parle G dessert was below par. Other than that, it was a great V day dinner.
Ordered Via Gold BellyI LOVE Indian food and order it when ever available. A friend had given me a gift certificate. I ordered from Gup Shup, thinking it was 30 miles away I could have it by the weekend. It took over 2 months to arrive.(why was never explained) It was packed appropriately, but was SO BAD, it was not edible.I asked others to try it, those that would nearly vomited, the smell alone was the first clue. The Himalayan morels and Vegetable Biryani was the worst- I would never visit this restaurant and wonder if these other reviews are even real. I also will never recommend Gold Belly to anyone. Beware!
The food is super yummy but is too expensive. The staff is amazing, our server went a little out of his way to modify the meal for us without even us mentioning anything to him. Did not like the mango mocktail but the food, oh my god, was really good. We had Dahi paneer roll, dal makhani and paneer makhani along with chilli lucha paratha (this is not in the menu but he customised considering I love spicy food). Def going back and would highly recommend
This place is fabulous. Electric atmosphere, lively ‘jhakas’ decor; warm and kind staff from hostess to server to clean up crew. The menu is extensive:The drinks were refreshing and uniquely Indian yet cosmopolitan. The appetizers were excellent. The dahi Puri in particular was one of the best I have had in the US.The prize for the evening went to the butter chicken which is the best I have had anywhere and I have eaten this dish many a times in the benchmark origin location in Delhi - Moti Mahal. The long evening was capped by the desert - kulfi faluda; a nice portion, well balanced aromatic mix of mouth watering kulfi in a dreamlike faluda web.Highly recommended!! We will be back with the kids!
The cook knows his or her spices pretty well. Not my cup of tea to be honest because I much prefer REAL Indian (their menu is almost entirely fusion) and, mostly, because the prices are very high and portion sizes very small... I gave it 4 stars for quality and if you love fusion maybe youll think it deserves 5, but if you want value for the dollar or want authenticate Indian, youll be disappointed here.
This is live review. We are at Gup Shup and the food is just awesome but the service is way below standard, way below standard. Look at what the waiter did to my friends expensive dress... not saying that you should not come, must visit for good amazing delicious food, but just be mindful of service
We celebrated a friend’s 45th birthday at this amazing restaurant. We asked for a separate area and they gave us the entire 2nd floor. We had a group of over 20 guests. It was a surprise dinner so the staff at Gupshup were helping to make sure we had a great time and we were able to surprise our friend. They honored our requests for certain songs to be played at certain times. Even though the restaurant was very very busy that night (it was Eid), we had our own serve staff assigned just to our group.Baba from Istanbul is amazing!!! He is so accommodating and helpful. Everything was “yes, we can”. He made sure we had everything we needed for the entire night, he spent enough time with us to give us his attention but also allowed us to have our own time. He knew what the group liked and wanted and was ready before we asked.I’m saving the best for last, the food!!! Amazing food, presentation was phenomenal and it was never ending, we didn’t run short at all. For our appetizers, we had the Dahi puri, paneer rolls and Amritsari aloo chaat. Our main course consisted of the typical paneer makhani, saag paneer, but my favorite was their signature dish, Himalayan morel (mushrooms). I would go back just for that dish only!! Of and their onion, chili cheese naan was delicious. I could make a meal out of just that! As for drinks, people in my party liked their Ayurvedic Jackass specialty cocktail that they make. Since I don’t drink, I loved their chili mango lassi. Our guest of honor loved tadka daal and jeers rice which is not on their menu, when we asked if it was possible to get that, they made it happen. They made a delicious tadka daal and jeera rice. Our birthday boy was sooo happy. When you go, and I would recommend you do, ask for Baba, he is a great guy and lots of fun to talk to!!If I could give more than 5 stars, I would do it!Can’t wait to go back again soon.
Being from London, I have been to a few restaurants with similar theme and cuisine (Indian Fusion). While the food is good here, thanks to a good chef, the prices are just way too high and the ambience / interiors / service do not justify the steep price list. All this while its not even a Michelin started restaurant. London based restaurants would offer a much better spread and at moderately priced options. A fine fine there is fine dine by all means. Sorry to say but this is not, not even by a long shot.
We went here for our friend’s birthday, we were a party of 10 and honestly it was the best experience. Our waiter BABA was so sweet to offer us complementary dessert and Chai. I would really recommend you come to this place if you want to try exclusive Indian food in NYC.
Gupshup went above and beyond with their dishes and innovative cocktails! I’ve been here a handful of times to try out their cocktails and it’s hard to choose a favorite! The “Hot Like Kohli” with tequila and mezcal and the “Bombay Peacock Society” were probably the highlights for me. They also have hot cocktails like the Old Monk Toddy (YUM!) which saved me from freezing while dining.I enjoyed every dish I ordered but the standout dish that reminded me of home was the Nizaams Haleem that came with various accompaniments. It’s ultimate comfort food with so much flavor! Definitely do yourself a favor and order it. Other faves were the Tandoori Cauliflower, Gupshup Fried Chicken and the Delhi Butter Chicken. The decor here is beautiful and they did a great job with both their indoors and outdoors area. They have heaters and the space is COVID friendly! It was definitely a wonderful experience to dine here!
One of the best Indian food I have ever bad in town, the dishes are indeed superb and delicious, authentic with a nice twist. Every dish we ordered was beyond our expectations especially the lamb rack, tiger pawn and shrimp sago dish. They also serve the best Naan bread that you could not stop eating aside from other dishes. Unfortunately, the service couldnt meet with the standard of the food, we were rushed for bills twice and the food did not come out in the order as we requested. In the end of the meal around 11 pm, the restaurant was already put the chairs up and away that we felt like we had to leave... was a shame the beautiful meal ended that way.
I have been to gupshup multiple times and I look forward to going back again. the food is really amazing, i am vegetarian and the options are great most of my fav is dahi sev puri, paneer rolls, bombay bhel god its full of flavours, crispy okra and Guacamole goes really well together.in large plates black dal has always been my favorite, I am not a big fan of dal in general but here i just loved the taste. i have tried almost every dish in here and all are recommended. the ambience is elegant and staff is really friendly plus the service is great. loved the outdoor sitting it has heaters and the decoration looks very beautiful it just adds one spark to the dinner.i am looking forward to go for lunch since i have heard a lot about vadapav. and many new options. (famous indian street food).
We went there for lunch on a weekday. At first, it looks like a dull place because of no rush around that time but the food was upto the expectations. Loved the juhu beach vada pav and daal makhni. Their garlic naan were soft, fresh and succulent. Only thing that I found average was the Jackfruit taco which were a little sweet, contrary to expectations. Great Indian fusion place.
The paucity of good South Asian restaurants in NYC, as an Indian-loving Brit, is a sore spot for me. Fortunately, Gupshup offers very accomplished cuisine that helps to soothe that longing.Lamb Nihari, Dahl Makhani, Chilli Cheese Kulcha - all were excellent renditions on our most recent visit.Staff are on the ball, and the atmosphere pleasing. It veers very modern rather than super-traditional Balti house, which is no bad thing.Prices are pretty sharp, but forgivable given the quality and reasonably sized portions. Its not absolutely perfect, but far closer to 5* than 4.
Are all the other reviews written by people w limited indian food experience? Probably. No vegan options. Which is hilarious because this is Indian food. Literally everything vegetarian can be made vegan. After much cajoling (by them for my party to stay) they agreed to not add butter to their Chhole/chickpea dish and man I wish they’d just asked me to leave. How can one screw up chhole? I’ll tell ya - by using canned chickpeas, not rinsing it, not stewing the canned tomatoes with it for long enough and by using precut sulfur smelling onions. It was.. so bad. Please dont come here 🥲Edited to add: LOL, please do come @ me with your medicore food and response because I mixed one dish’s pyaaz with another 🤷🏽♀️ 😂😂
Omg m updating again... drove 2 hrs from upstate to our favorite place and gem Gupshup. Been coming here for 2 years and food is delicious; the decor is gorgeous; staff is absolutely amazing and service is to the point. Kohli cocktails were amazing. The seekh kebabs are delactable. The falooda kulfi was super delicious.Updating ... visiting once again for the 50th time my best go to fusion Indian in the city. This time we had the seekh; chicken kebabs. And...Gunpowder Bronzini; Dehli Butter Chicken; Chicken karai, Lamb Chapli Kebab and chilli Mango Lassi are so delicious!!!! Went with a friends family and the server Baba was awesome and ensured everyone was enjoying every moment. Jimmy Rizvi also came over and ensured everything was perfect. Immaculate service; gorgeous decor; amazing food drinks and great ambience!!!A lovely addition to NYC!! This restaurant is not only beautiful but the flavor of the food is a treat for the palate. A great fusion of flavors each dish is exceptional. We had Haleem, dal, dehli butter chicken, keema pav everything was delectable.
Loved GupShup! We came with quite a large group and making a reservation is a must! They were so accommodating and efficient and brought all food items so quickly. It was an extra bonus that they were beyond delicious. The DAHI SEV PURI was delicious, but also smaller portions. The KEEMA PAV was also so delicious. The Naan was so soft, warm, and buttery. A must visit restaurant in NYC! Special shoutout to Baba for being so kind, welcoming, and hilarious!
Beautiful restaurant, however the service was subpar and so was the food. None of the entrees come with rice or naan, which is odd for the price tag. Our server appeared rush and disinterested in serving us. Definitely not worth the price tag. You’re paying for the ambiance, not the food or service. Won’t be back.
Its a high-end Indian restaurant with great ambience. All the stuff inside relates to Bombay. Food is very tasty. We ordered onion cheese kulcha, paneer rolls, crispy okra with guacomole, Falooda. Everything was very delicious.I would recommend onion cheese kulcha, crispy okra and Falooda. Its little pricy as compared to other Indian restaurants in city.
Came to gupshup and it was pretty good. The food was nice and so was the ambiance. If you’re looking for a authentic feel this is probably more of a trendy feel. The music feels clubby and the food is more of a western spin on Indian food. All pretty good food but I felt the price was a bit high for what it was. Probably a good date spot. Wouldn’t really bring kids here.
We ordered quite a few things from the menu here. the kirkuri bhindi was crispy, and though the guacamole was more brown than green it tasted fine. The paneer/cottage cheese rolls were flavorful though too much paneer for me (my partner loved it). the onion cheese kulcha was good, nothing very different from a typical kulcha, the garlic naan was much superior to your typical garlic naan - the perfect amount of dough(not too thick and doughy around the edges) and lots of garlic for lovers like me. The black dal was good, but couldnt be compared to Indian accent dal we love. Finally we had the kulfi faaloda which was the highlight of our night - a mix of ice-cream and rabdi textures which we really enjoyed, delicious! We payed over a $100 for all our food, which we found was a little underpar from a value for money aspect, given all the other good indian restaurants in manhattan.
Ok drinks, so so food and worst hospitality!!Beware of server Yusaf B as if you are not paying a minimum of 18% gratuity he will force you to do so by asking for it in front of your guests which is usually at guests discretion. So if you are in a mood to spoil your good time and like to be insulted, be their guests and I promise they wont let you down.I raised this to their management and they have stopped responding to my emails, this is their level of hospitality.@Gupshup, I guess you are in the wrong industry as you dont know an H of hospitality. Do me a favor and cancel the refund as the refund wont fix the damage you have caused.PS: Make sure you check your final bill as they like round off the total to next dollar.
I have been to Gushup twice so far. It is one of my favorite Indian Restaurants in Manhattan. Every dish I have tried is good . Good ambience and very nice hospitality. The Cassata Ice cream in dessert reminded me of my childhood times. I would recommend this place very strongly.
On a cold Thursday evening, me and the Mrs. decided to bravely pull a walk-in at GupShup and were successful in getting seated right away at 6:10 pm. The place was at 25% occupancy, and our first host said that hell seat us right away, but my wife had still to join me. 4 mins later, when she was there, it was a different host who said they are overbooked! We were finally seated upstairs in a quiet corner table and could have been given better seating as there were plenty of tables still waiting to be occupied at 7:20 pm, when we left. There is a strong fragrance from incense sticks that are throughout this restaurant, my first experience at an Indian restaurant in NYC. People who are not too fond of it might find it a bit annoying though. Our server was quick in explaining us that everything at GupShup is family style, and we ordered his recommended cocktails Ayurvedic Jackass and Dirty Pineapple which were priced at $16 each. Both were okay and I felt they lacked that cocktail punch. We ordered 4 dishes in total, which included Lamb Keema ($17), Cottage Cheese ($15), Chicken Tikka ($18), Delhi Butter Chicken ($18) and Multi-grain Garlic Naan ($8). Food is absolutely delicious and everything we ordered was very flavorful. The chicken was cooked to perfection, wasnt dry at all and the butter chicken curry sauce was tasty albeit on a sweeter side.Service was excellent and our server was very attentive and food arrived within 15 mins of ordering. Will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family.
Trendy new place, great drinks and average food. We had the four dips, tiger shrimp, the cod sliders, the paneer rolls, the tofu thecha and the four dips. I really liked the tofu and the cod sliders, perhaps my favorite dish. In general, the food was okay, but overpriced. Would recommend this place for drinks/small eats rather than a meal!
I came here with a co-worker after reading about the place in an online article. We did not have a reservation and they worked us in thankfully. I loved the decor and ambiance. We both ordered the Goan Sunrise for drinks and they were fantastic. The butter chicken and Indian ramen was amazing. The service was a little spotty at times. Our waitress forgot to the bring the naan we ordered but we ended up cancelling that piece of the order. We actually ended up see Rachel Ray here and was told Jimmy Fallon had dined there the week prior. So who knows who you will see while dining here. I think they are still working out the kinks in operations but we had a great time. I really felt the staff was attentive (as possible) and were really friendly. I would definitely come back in the future!I would recommend to the owner to have a place to store coats and umbrellas as it was a little tight in the main dining area for our articles. The restaurant was clean and had a great overall vibe.
Hands down the best Indian food Ive ever had in my life. This is the BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT in NYC !!Absolutely amazing food!!Absolutely fantastic drinks!!A lot of my friends raved about GUPSHUP, so when I checked it out I was more than impressed. The quality of the food is incredible. All the meat dishes were super well cooked, and the flavor here is something you just dont get anywhere else. The ambience is awesome! The vibe is great. Great service, very friendly and very respectful. The decor is extremely beautiful!! One of the best Instagrammable location in New York City I must say! They are very particular about the COVID rules and did a great job setting up tables outdoors to make it covid friendly. Very well heated. A must try and i promise you’ll fall in love with this restaurant!!
We went to an event here at GupShup, an upscale Indian cuisine, inspired by old Bombay. Still new, less than one year since they first opened their door. I was excited to see what they are all about, and sample some food.I really liked the art-y décor, and the reminiscence of the old days. Our event was held upstairs, which is much smaller than the first floor, but very nice and cozy. They had a full bar upstairs as well, which makes getting drinks easier. We got to sample handful of their offerings, such as Chicken Tikka, Cod Fish Slider, Cottage Cheese Cigar Rolls (?), and Spare Ribs. The samples were coming in quick, and we didnt really get to obtain a proper names for the items, so I might be wrong... Anyways, they were all very good!We also got to have some Naan with Butter and Garlic, and also Guacamole Bombay Tadka with Khakra Crisps. Naan was great, but the chips (or crisps) that came with it was was too thin and fragile to scoop up the guacamole…We might not have gotten loads of varieties, but the quality of the ones we received was very high. I would rather have quality than quantity. All the staffs here were really nice, they were efficient and polite. I wa a bit disappointed that we didn’t get to sample any of their unique signature cocktails, but that gives us another reason to go back to try more of their food and drinks!
A great place for flavourful food, though a little on the salty side. The chutney sampler was probably the most amazing side dish I have had. Each one had such different taste and when added to your other dishes would change them completely, so lots of flavors to explore. The staff were super friendly and were accommodating.
Delicious food and great music..! Service was good, reasonably priced cocktails and drinks, ideal place for a casual talk, music isn’t too loud, decent ambience, try avoiding the fox nuts Brel puri, that sucks, rest of the food was awesome..! Don’t mind going there again..!
Okay first thought- very expensive food with smallPortions. Their whiskies are priced quite reasonably given that it’s in a prime location. And they have a good collection of whiskies- whisky lovers ( they also have Japanese whiskies) . I wanted to get the cocktail that had this beautiful stamp/art that they showcase on their cover picture.. but they were out of the art ink or whatever that is. Too bad that if they have so many ppl coming in and when they are advertising it, they must have it. They can’t say that they are out of it!!!But the $38 lamb biryani was really really delicious!!! I won’t say it’s worth it but then it definitely was something and also, has good amount of meat. Highly recommend even though it can put a hole in your pocket. Jackfruit tacos are different but not super tasteful as you would imagine. Both the dishes has good spice levels.
Had a nice time here, with a few hits and some misses. The ambiance and variety of dishes on the menu are very unique and most of them taste very good. The kulcha with chutney sampler was excellent, as were the lamb shank and paneer dishes. Service was very below average though. The servers didnt know which dishes they were serving and often told us incorrect names, creating confusion. Some dishes were left off our order and we got extras of others. Very chaotic overall, that too on a non-busy night. Also, the last call in the kitchen was at 9:45pm which surprised me, and we had to order dessert during our meal.I found it a bit too expensive to go again. With a drink, appetizer, main, dessert and accompaniments like bread and chutney, youre looking at close to $100 per person.
Owner -Jimmy , greets all his guests with a warm smile ..The place is chic and gives a nostalgic feel with the hundreds of steel dubbas(tiffin boxes) ..on the wall.My favourite is the Painting of the Tiger ..Designer Saheba Singh ,has outdone her self on this one !Now coming to the foodThe keema Pav is a mustAlong with the Cod Sliders ..in the startersThe Rack of lamb was moist and tenderAlong with the delicious saffron rice .The Chicken Tikka and Garlic Naan were the perfect ending to the meal :)
Interesting place to eat. A bit expensive- but not crazy- but food was good and unique. This, as stated by the restaurant, is a modern flair on traditional food. We were a party of 6 and paid $160 for good combo of food. Staff and service were very good. We are vegetarians and pretty much got all the options on the menu and all were good. We would love to return.
Food was alright. 3 People from my group got stomach infections, those who eat the non-vegetarian. We visited the place at Christmas eve and next entire day they were very discomfort and sick. It ruined our holiday. We have reached out to restaurant’s manager about this she was super rude. She was not ready to listen and believe about the experience which is super unprofessional and no one can expect this could happen to such expensive restaurants. Service staff was respectful. Wanted to advice all future customer to be careful with your non-veg dish. Save your self from infection.
We went here as a group of 9 for a friend’s birthday. The event started off disappointing as the Indian hostess was extremely rude but having Baba as a waiter definitely made the experience unforgettable. The drinks and food were great for vegetarians, especially the appetisers with the okra guacamole ans the Chole aloo tiki. Thank you Baba!
Food is good. But just like others mentioned, the prices definitely do not match the portion nor the quality. And I’ve had Indian food at other places in the city so it just can’t be because of location.Real reason for low rating is because there was no heat at all. Indoor dining felt like it was outdoor. Kind of awkward to see the host walking around in a pea coat due to how cold it is inside. Also mentioned it a few times to “Baba” who completely ignored it. At least have a good enough explanation to why patrons are freezing on a cold night in nyc at a supposedly high end restaurant.A place worth trying once, nothing more.
Amazing food and experience! Yusuf Baba was very helpful and accommodating. We didnt make any reservations and we decided to walk in last minute. And even though the restaurant was so busy, Baba was kind enough to get us a table right away. The rest of his team was great as well. Highly recommend!
I ate here with my friend around the holidays. We accidentally ordered a dish that had cashews and I am allergic to treenuts. We informed the waiter and they were very kind to replace it with a different dish and not charge us for the first one. The food was very good and service was amazing! I would definitely recommend and will visit again next time im in the area.
Dont let the hype and marketing of TikTok fool you - the food, drinks, and atmosphere arent anything to rave about. While the cocktails sounded fun from their descriptions on the menu they were subpar, especially ones like the Chai Martini are overhyped.Overall very average food and experience which was overpriced for what it truly was.
Service was good but food was okay. The prices definitely do not match the quality of the food.We ordered quite a few meat dishes (Christmas eve) and almost everyone got Stomach infections the next morning. When we called the restaurant after getting sick, the staff was not ready to listen to our experience and the manager talked rudely. We already had a reservation made way in advance but when we arrived on time, they had us waiting outside in cold for more than 15 minutes.Definitely do not recommend this place, DO NOT GO THERE!!
Do yourself a favor and skip this place.$32 dollars for 5 little pieces of chicken. The entree did not come with any rice, bread, or side!$5 for a soda (not alcoholic, just soda)Food tasted mediocre. And after distinctly remembering to leave 10% tip, there was a charge for 20% tip.Spend your money elsewhere.
Thank you Team GupShup for making a milestone birthday very special and memorable for our family. The staff and the chef were extremely accommodating with our dietary restrictions. We did the platinum prefix and it did not disappoint. Everyone really loved the food! Oh and cant forget the drinks, the cocktails are unique and delicious! Cant wait to come back!
Service was great! Food was average. The meats are tender but can be marinated better. The best dish on the table was the Amritsari cod slider and the lamb keema. Every thing else we ordered was disappointing. Food looks good and is plated well but lacks much flavor. We did order their famous Lamb Rack Biryani however, it failed to deliver. The lamb meat was chewy and considering the pricing one would certainly expect better from this place.
What a fantastic find. Easily the best Indian restaurant in NY. The authentic nature of the cuisine coupled with the neo-chic ambience was unexpected. The drinks (and their uniquely fun names) made it all the more fun. Loved the fun crowd; the overall atmosphere and the vibe. 2 thumbs up
Food , drinks and Table Service was really good . Really loved Butter Chicken ( One of the best I had here in NYC ). Rogan Josh was awesome . Nagpur Orange ( Cocktails ) is definitely worth trying . However the Outside sitting arrangement needs to be more cozied up as it is cold which offsets the food experience . The Hostess needs to have more EQ while dealing with guests . Will recommend to my friends for great food experience .
The waiter and service were very accommodating! Baba the host went above and beyond to make sure we ordered the right things on the menu. The butter chicken wings and Biryani was very tasty! Without Babas enthusiasm and recommendations the GupShup would not have been as good.
Had dinner here with family. The place is amazing with great ambiance. The food is unique and delicious. Loved their mocktails. We also loved all their vegetarian appetizers. Will try their non vegetarian options soon. Our server was super awesome and overall our experience was amazing. They have restroom inside and there is street parking around if you can find any.
I give the experience, the staff, the venue, the music the presentation 5 stars, the food did fall a bit short for me 4/5. I went with non-Indians and they loved it. For me, it was a bit too “Manhattany”. Lacked that Indian punch that I love. But the menu options were amazing, diverse and pleases all type of eaters. Will be going back again for sure.
Buba the best service provider at the restaurant. He’s amazing and made the experience so much more enjoyable. The desk lady wasn’t the nicest person but Buba made up for it. Go to Gupshup just so you can have him to make your birthday experience as fun as he made mine.
Hands down the best Indian restaurant Ive been to in the US. The dishes are drool-worthy, innovative and an absolute treat to taste buds. I tried these: Butter chicken wings: Your everyday chicken wings, butter chicken style. Its a very interesting combination that youd hardly ever find.Goat Seekh Kebabs - MUST TRY!!!Hot Like Kohli - Red Chili infused cocktail. Its proper spicy and youd love it!
Fabulous experience at gupshup. We were seated and served within 30 mins! We let Baba (our server) know we had a show to catch in an hour so have to leave in 30 min. He made sure everything (appetizers main course) was delivered in that time and we made it out on time. Food was fantastic. Ambience was classic. Very happy with the place.
Edit to add: the attitude of one of the hostesses was a major turn off - from the greeting to the seating, and the screaming at the top off her lungs because a server startled her? Like what was happening? Oh and telling guests they have an hour and 45 minutes to eat like were going to pull out sleeping bags and camp out at the table? A great way to dampen a fun night out.Okay so this place is reeeeeally good! There are several good Indian restaurants in NYC but this one is amazing. We had the onion chili cheese kulcha, tandoori cauliflower, chole tikki, and chicken biryani and all of it was delicious. Im happy to say that they do not...how shall i say this...cater to the western tastebuds(?). The food is actually spicy. Seeing so many other South Asians also dining here was a great sign that the food is amazing! I am now trying to figure out when I can come back here!!
Well, I had reserved a table for 2. I got 2 messages asking me to confirm my reservation plus a message 30 mins before to notify me they’re looking forward to greet me.When I arrived there, the host fumbled for 5 minutes trying to figure out where’s my reservation. There was also a DJ playing music extremely loud and while I appreciate the restaurant trying to put me in the mood for a wild Friday night, I wish I had a heads up. I just wanted a cozy dinner with my girlfriend after a long day.Eventually he pointed to a table for 2, which is less than 1 meter from the entrance, with all the draft from outside and all the quests queuing right next to it. Seems like that was the only one available.I’m sorry to say, but I am VERY disappointed with the service I received. There seemed to be little interest on behalf of the host to fix things up. Why bother making a reservation more than a week in advance?
I Had visited Gupshup today for my first time and I had a memorable experience. Had the butter chicken that was out of this world flavor plus food portion was perfect and I had the Dirty Pineapple cocktails it was one of the best cocktails I ever experience. I would say they have one of the best Indian food around I would for sure become a regular guest.
Super expensive, tasteless food specially meat is aweful. I have never tasted such bad food in my life, the staff is nasty, service is very poor.Meat is so bad that I literally threw up.Don’t go there. Waste of time and waste of your hard earned money..Such a poor service that I was wondering what kind of restaurant is this. They claim that the environment is cool is fake, the environment is very unfriendly and extremely discourteous towards their clients. Please avoid going there. They are everything but trendy. You have plenty of choices, why take this risk to go there.
This is my first review post covid; the first time in over a year that Ive been to a new restaurant. So I have a lot to say about this experience, but will stay focused on the relevant details.First of all, Im so glad I didnt look at the ratings before my visit, 4.2 is unbelievably low for this place. However, you have to embrace the fushion concept of Indian fusion to really enjoy it. The food was fresh and the service was superb. I will go back for the cocktail menu alone. I had the Chai Masala martini, my friend had the Baluah. We were both delighted. We tried many dishes including an Indian take on branzino, saag paneer, and a mushrooms dish that Ive never seen before. We enjoyed it with garlic naan, an avocado pomegranate yogurt sauce, and I already mentioned the cocktails. There were many side dish options that gave us the opportunity to try more dishes without over ordering, or over paying, for large portions. While I typically dont mind the decor, it was really fun to dine amongst vibrant Indian trappings in a somewhat modern setting. The music was fun too, not just Indian, but also Arabic influences. I cannot wait to go back!
Went here and it was great. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. The drinks were also great - I had the dirty pineapple which was very good and they also have a great beer selection. For the food, we had a cheese stuffed naan bread - this is a must try. Even the regular naan bread was the best Ive ever had. I honestly didnt know naan could be this good. We also had saag paneer and butter chicken, both were excellent. Im excited for the next time we go back to sample more from the menu!
Such good food!!!! Service was really slow though - it took forever for someone to come by and even take our drinks order, and then they brought the wrong food/drinks to us a couple times. But the food definitely made up for it. We ordered the tandoori cauliflower, Amritsati chole tikki, paneer cheese rolls, onion chili cheese kulcha, and saag paneer to eat, and the ayurvedic jackass and alibaug to drink. All excellent, but way too much for two people. Paneer cheese rolls were absolutely both of our favorite. Probably should have gotten 1-2 dishes less; everything was really heavy and even though we packed a lot as leftovers, we had no room left for dessert
Atmosphere is pretty cool, nice 1st date spot, food is great if you like Indian cuisine. Waiters are a bit annoying though coming up every few minutes and interrupting the vibe. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and outdoor seating is nicely decorated. Bathrooms are super clean.
I love Gupshup, their food is amazing and the staff is so welcoming. The outdoor setting is so comfortable and they have heaters. Went there with my friends on a Friday evening and I had a really good time. Their modern twist on the Indian dishes is pretty unique. A must try I would suggest is the crispy okras with guacamole. Will definitely come back again !
A very horrible experience. The host was rude from the start when trying to make a reservation. The waiters were horrible. Service is slow bringing food and drinks in an untimely manner. And when asked the waiters where everything was he shrugged his shoulders. This place only got famous because of its esthetics and tiktok. Otherwise this place would have drowned a long time ago.
The food is phenomenal. we came all the way from Philadephia after so many of our friends told us about this place pre pandemic..its beautiful inside and with outdoor decor makes you feel you are in Bombay, and the art and artifacts evoked some beautiful memories. we ordered achari chicken, awadhi lamb chops, goat seekh kabab, junglee maas, paneer rolls, laccha paratha, multigrain garlic naan (yes!) and finished with deconstructed cassata and gulab jamun yum. our server proactively informed us about food allergies, food being halal, timings and made excellent recommendations... this is not an uptight fine dining spot but more of a upscale casual environment for gupshupping with your friends and family in a beautiful setting. coming back again for sure.
One of the best Indian food I have had. Their Cocktail program/game is par, if not better compared to famous cocktail bars in NY. Service is friendly, gracious, and they always try for their customers to leave happy from what I have seen during my recent visits during the pandemic. Read about some reviewers happy with the food and service, but not the price point. They need to understand this hot spot is in Gramercy and not curry hill, and been working in the service industry there are different variables like rent, quality of sourced ingredients (food, alchol), labor etc. Living in the area, I have recommended so many friends and always heard back good things. A not so hidden gem anymore. Will keep going for my Indian food fix !
Good place and ambiance!I love the Chai Martini, but other cocktails were okay. The ambiance is good, so is the food presentation, but the taste is average. There are other restaurants in NY who has better taster and fusion.Good for a date night.Ambience and music 4.There are some items like Panner cheese roll and Jackfruit Tacos were 5 on 5.I felt the Chicken Biryani was bit dry, Butter Chicken tasted average, Paneer Makhani was average and so was carrot halwa with ice cream ( there is only dry fruit ice cream with cardamom I didn’t taste carrot halwa in the dish)
An absolute delight of a restaurant, from the ambiance, to the professionalism, to the food and drinks. I had an above and beyond experience with the only thing surpassing the staff being the food. The flavors are amazing, and people are friendly.I went on a busy Saturday night and was still paid attention to, and had a great experience. I highly recommend the tikka chicken and the saag paneer! Will definitely be returning! My wife will love the food here too!
I went to Gupshup for my birthday dinner with a larger group of friends. I had a reservation set for Saturday and the service and staff was very friendly and we had a nice wonderful time. Customer service is very important to us and Gupshup delivered on that front.I have come solo a few times for dinner previously and they do not disappoint. My only critique is that the vegan and vegetarian menu can be refreshed and expanded a bit.Keep up the good work and look forward to stopping by soon.
Plenty of other restaurants that serve much better food and have great environment.Seems like the staff is very punctual about opening at 5pm. Dont get there before 5 and expect to be seated. And especially dont come with an infant- no high chair or allowed to bring a stroller inside. They cater to a specific type of crowd-not worth spending my money here.

2022-02-04Love the bar, the food and the ambience. I used to come to this place regularly before covid and just discovered when I was visiting that they were open. Its exactly as I remember it. The bartenders make amazing drinks and serve you like family. The food is on point. Especially their butter chicken Delhi style. I also tried their small plates this time which were also amazing.

2022-01-14Had dinner on New Year’s eve at Gupshup. The ambience is so beautiful and cozy. There was fun bollywood music by a DJ. The food topped all our expectations. Delicious kebabs and chicken curries. They have a variety of drinks on their menu. We enjoyed our last meal of 2021. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. Must visit place if you’re in the area

2022-05-31GupShup WAYYYY exceeded our expectations. A gang of 8 Indian people for brunch and we all walked away stuffed and happy! (Note, vegetarian people might have a hard time with this menu)We ordered so much food and shared everything, and absolutely loved it all! In the photo from top to bottom paneer roll (cut off), onion chili cheese Kulcha, chicken tikka, lamb keema kulcha, omelette paratha, fried chicken, chicken biryani. We also ordered the lamb chakli burger (OMG MUST TRY, added a terrible photo from a video but SO GOOD), goat biryani and the chicken cheela. My personal favs were the lamb burger and the chicken biryani. We liked the lamb kulcha so much we ordered a second one.The ambience is pretty nice. Definitely more “high end” vibe indoors and more of a desi Indian vibe outdoors. Bollywood music at the perfect volume where we were jamming out but could easily hold conversation down the whole table. Cocktails were popular as well despite the saturday hangover. It was pouring rain while we ate and the outdoor area is completely covered and we didn’t even feel a single drop.Service was good, kinda funny to hear the servers mispronounce the foods but what can you do, it was delicious so didn’t matter. Also they have chai! It’s premade in large batches though so you can’t get it without sugar.I would definitely come back, and I usually hate restaurant Indian food.

2022-05-19Tasty Indian food. Good vibes and our server Vikas was very nice and fun. I would highly recommend this to place. Okra and avocado is a must try if you want to have something different in Appetizer.

2022-05-21Have dined at gupshup twice and each time we enjoyed our meal here. Their butter chicken is one of the best in NYC. Tried their Rogan josh and that was very good as well. For appetizers we had butter chicken wings which we could just keep eating so a must to try. We also had the kaleji appetizer dish which is goat liver and the dish was just perfection. We had this with garlic naan and cheese naan and ended with kulfi faluda. Will be back to try their brunch.

2022-03-20I came here in search of carbs and carbs I received. I’m training for a half marathon so this place hit the spot. Where I felt let down was the amount of meat they put into the dishes. I’m talking a big let down here. I’d say about roughly 3 chicken nuggets worth of meat per main. Other than that the food was tasty and the service was fast. The big cocktail pitchers looked good although I didn’t try them.

2022-07-07Interesting vegetarian options - liked their aloo tikki and their mushroom entree was incredible. Their drinks were average - the espresso martini was too sweet. On the whole, surprising dishes but quite overpriced.

2022-03-06Brunch was special at Gupshup today! The new menu here is simply outstanding! Special mention about Chef Zahir Khan’s new dish - “Gurda Kaleji”!! Flavourful, homestyle, nicely spiced and well presented on a flaky Laccha Paratha! The Lucknowi Chicken Biryani hit the right spot - mild, aromatic and each grain of rice was beautifully separated. It has to be experienced not photographed. Chef Zahir made the brunch even more special with his Paneer Bread Pakoda and Besan chilla stuffed with chicken. To complete the Brunch - the Kulfi Falooda is a must!
