Never going back again! There is NOTHING to help the children stay balanced. When we asked for something they straight up said, oh hell, we dont have those anymore we got rid of those!... it was a DISASTER and a MESS. The kiddie rink had construction equipment and this giant wooden thing with corners. I was sure to snap a picture. They most certainly do not welcome younger children like the one in Amsterdam. It was my first and my LAST time bringing my child there. Ill travel to better places. Also, they need to upgrade their stuff! The price was NOT worth the experience. I have never had their ice cream either and will never get it after seeing the managers attitude! Its rare I write a bad review unless its necessary. This is necessary.
Terrible. Dont waste your money. This place is NOT kid/family friendly, the staff is rude, and its dirty, old, and outdated. How does a skating place not have something for children to hold and help them learn? The skates are so old and filthy they are cracking. Grown adult employees with bad attitudes and zero help.
Worst experience ever. I was there for 2 minutes with 2 girls and they charged me 40$ to skate I asked them do you have help? And they reply with “go on the carpet” no help or anything I could only help them and it was horrible they were falling so much and hated it worst place ever I will never come back and who in the actual world doesn’t give 40$ back from skating for 2 minutes
I called to find out if strobe lights can be held off for an hour or so while my 11 year old who has absence seizures but loves to skate enjoys and I was told by an older lady that you guys cant/dont change the program ...how is it family friendly if you cant make that change?was then told maybe afternoons might t be better ...so I asked if strobe lights were played in the afternoon? She said I cant guarantee 🤔🤔🤔then tells me to call before I come so I said you mean like Im doing now? ...MANAGER! OWNER! PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO WHO IS ANSWERING YOUR PHONES . THIS WASNT A TEEN ANSWERING IT WAS AN OLDER WOMAN and still no help and no clear answers.
Rollerskating is definitely something that I love to do, and Guptill’s is definitely the place for that. I love going here every week, and I definitely recommend this place to have fun. There are many great features here such as the arcade, practice rinks, and snack bar. Good way to pass the time when you’re bored.
I had a great time but I was not informed about the “Black Friday Weekend” such as closing at 9:30pm and I arrived at 9:00pm. I also was overheated from staking and such at around 9:15pm. As I was standing in front of the big fan in the food area, a worker saw me walk up to get some cool air and he walked up and unplugged it while giving me a dirty look. This is so petty and unprofessional.
Highly recommend........ This rink really lives up to its name for sure. I love how big the floor is. The admission is seems a bit pricey at first, but trust me folks, its worth every penny. You just CANT compare this rink to other rinks, this one is on a much higher level. Its is the best indoor rink Ive been to ever. Do wish the floor was perfectly smooth and silk like the rink I work at down in Greensboro, NC. With floor this big to maintain, its understandable why its not perfectly smooth. The cost to refinish the whole floor would definitely be about 40,000$+. Dont get me wrong, the floor is still very good to skate on for an all skate number, just not for speed skating. Speed skating is not allowed here either which is also perfectly fine with me as well since I know how it feels to be the one to tell other skaters to slow down. With that being said, if you are a speed skater who is trying to speed on the worlds largest rink, dont be surprised to never hear a speed skate number called out for you. I will definitely come here as many more times as i can. As for the owner(s) thank you so much for making this great rink possible.
Great place. My son and his friend had a lot of fun there. There were very small children right up through older adults. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. They also have a small arcade and a snack bar.The one thing that I think could make this place even better is if they offered skating lessons. If they do I didnt see them listed anywhere.Overall very nice spacious and classic look. They even got in the Guinness book of world records as the largest indoor skating rink.
I told my 6 year old son I got plane tickets to visit family in New York. The first thing he asked me was Are we going to Guptills? I told him if possible, we would.Turns out the place is not air conditioned. Or the a/c was broken. Im guessing they just dont have a/c. Could not get a complimentary cup of water so I had to pay $2.50 for a bottle so I wouldnt die.Its nice that its open but I dont know why someone would want to skate in an 85° building. Also strange that other reviews didnt mention this. Next time we will go in the winter.
I have been skating here for over 20 years. Yesterday my friend and I had an amazing time! We felt comfortable enough to be able to take breaks when needed and seating was available around the rink constantly. An employee had went out of his way to make sure he cleared a table for us because we were eating at the counter on skates instead of in a booth, as well as making sure it was entirely disinfected for our safety.I highly recommend this rink. They go above and beyond the necessary precautions and ensure you that you have a fun time while feeling safe.
I spent my entire childhood skating here and dancing at secrets. I always thought it was a decent place. Now I have Kids of my own and decided to throw a birthday party here ...... way before Covid of course.I had The worst experience ever with the owner. I’m not going to go into detail because it’ll take too long. Let’s just say I’ll never return. I’ll kindly give my money to a rink that respects its patrons.I’m just glad my son was able to enjoy his party without noticing how angry the family was.
I grew up skating here and spent my pre teen years going to Secrets, I had my first slow dance here, met my first serious boyfriend here, and have countless memories of birthday parties and waiting in line to use the pay phone to call my parents for a ride home on Saturday nights. Now over fifteen years later I started coming with my elementary school aged daughter and it is a breath of fresh air to have some kind of normalcy and a reminder of my childhood in the midst of the Covid restricted world we live in now. Everything is clean and proper pre cautions are taken but the part I love most is how everything looks almost the same as it did when I was a kid. Such nostalgia which always brings back great memories I hope to pass on to my daughter. Thank you.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Bathrooms were clean. I especially enjoyed the dance room. However I was surprised that adults are not allowed to walk around In the middle of the rink with beginner skaters. Here @ Holiday Skating Rink in Delanco, NJ we are allowed to do so with soft sole shoes. Seems to work well for everyone.
I will never patronize your business again. My daughter has a medical condition and cannot wear a mask. You cannot discriminate against an honest and true medical condition that we have proof of from a reputable local doctors office. Try to put yourself in her shoes. Plus people are not germs. What has happened to people during this crisis. You people are sick!
I enjoyed roller skating and the atmosphere! I took away stars because it is way too pricey $17 a person with skates and no child price! We came with 2 hours left to skate and it should have been cut in half by that point. The fee of $12 should include skates. With $17 something should come with that such as a free drink or something! There is no water fountain when you are thirsty or any free water! $2.50 for a water bottle common! I recommend bringing drinks and snacks with you. I also recommend having some skate special nights and reduced price weekends! This is not affordable for low income people who want to get out of the house and take their kids out to do smthg.
I am happy (and quite frankly shocked, in a good way) You guys are still open. Back around 1980 used to live in a school called St. Annes. We would go skating there like once a month for a treat. I have so many fond memories of this place. I am glad you guys are still around. Keep up the good work!
Roller skating is frequently overlooked as a fun time for friends, dating, and family events. The location was quite large, open and classic atmosphere. Our visit was nice and fun, with moderate to average saturday crowd. That was perfect for a mid day visit. There were ample rental skates, and .25c lockers for storage. The venue was also very clean, and well maintained.Younger people stagg the location, except the diner where this was older staff. It was a nice balance of employees, who all seemed to care about their job.Prices during our visit (April 2018) were ten dollars per adult, 5 dollars for skate rental.
I learned how to skate here when I was 5 years old and now I am 11, I go with my grandma for practice and it is awesome, and so is the ice cream!! I am always asking to go there on the weekends with my grandma and friends and it is the funnest thing I do on the weekends I am always looking forward to going. The owner is very Sweet and does everything he can to keep the Place nice and he does a lot for me and my grandma like when I got new skates. I recomend this ring for Everyone it is the best rollerskating rink in America!!!!
I have always gone to Guptills on friday nights with a bunch of my friends and we have always had fun!!! The food they serve is always freshly made right there and they have always played the best songs when you skate! The people who work there are very friendly and i have always liked the security guy in secrets! Thank you for being the best roller skating rink in town!!!
Its a 3 hour drive from me to skate here ,it .but often drive by on my way to rollerroma because the music and atmosphere there is better..I started skating in the 80s when the music was more fun to skate to .no DJ and lame music. I would like to be able to request 1 song after driving 3 hours to get there..
I had a terrible experience here. First the rental skates were horrible the laces were wet?? Which is disgusting they ran super small both my pairs were ripping at the bottom and stuck out into my foot. Both pairs also had crooked wheels I could barely go straight and it was extremely uncomfortable. Not to mention the skates didn’t have proper toe stops and it was very hard to stop/slow down. All the employees were awfully rude and looked like they didn’t want to be there there was such little seating for how many people were there. $17 is way to much to pay for what you get I don’t think I’ll ever be coming back
I want to give it more stars but I cant. I really did enjoy myself there but just can not give them anymore stars. Find the place to be very dated. Some updating I feel would go a long way. Starting with the concessions. Its a little pricy. The food was mediocre at best. Maybe it was just the skates I had but they seemed to be as old as the building after 20mins my feet were killing me. Such bad blisters. Ill give them some positives though, staff was very friendly and the whole complex is very clean. Very welcoming atmosphere.
During weekends I do play songsDuring Reagan said you play songs and also I really nice there sitting aroundThe whole thing whole ArenaI didnt feelI didnt feel trappedI didnt feel trapped whenI didnt feel trapped when I didntI didnt feel trapped when I did need a seatingIs food
The place is very outdated. You can tell the skates are very old. The staff at the concession area were very unfriendly. We were pulled over several times because we did not pair up or skate in triples which was very annoying. A lot of the staff talked to my group as if we were dumb and couldn’t comprehend what was being told to us. The smoke was very excessive being that I was with little kids and they were complaining they couldn’t see and didn’t like it. Overall a bad experience only 1 star for the music.
Heard about this place on the radio and sounded like a good time so i went there on a saturday night and let me say I wasnt disappointed. Great place to take a date. the only thing I didnt like was that I wasnt allowed to wear my hat skating but hey rules are rules. I had so much fun! Ill definitely be coming back.
Worst experience in world between the $12 entrance fee the $5 skate rental they really take you to the bank to skate. It took about 20 minutes to get my shoes to even try to start skating it took about 5 minutes to get them on and worse just as I was about to start skating they started spewing out the worst and most toxic fog. It made skating impossible and breathing impossible, I dont have asthma but this would cause anybody who does to end up having to go to the hospital it is just that bad. When I went for a water I found they had only bottles of water for about $2.50 which is about a dollar more than the corner store for the same bad bottles of water. Save yourself the money and the waste of time and just buy yourself a cheap pair of skates you will probably have more fun out in front of your own house with them then you would here.
Large roller rink, cash only, crowded, limited food selection (pizza, fries, nachos, pretzels, fried dough) with painfully slow service and limited seating. Cute with lights, good music, fog effects and theme skating. Family friendly but loud. Line to return skates can get quite long.
The staff is extremely rude and the place has no ac in a hot summer day and I wasted my money for nothing. Another important detail that I think everyone should know is I walked in with a bandana on my head and no one seemed to mind until 2 African Americans walked in with Durags on their heads and they were asked to take them off or leave after they paid.
Love it, great dj, really comfortable rental skates. Decent price. The rink itself and the resting areas could use some work, an extra employee or 2 to police the teenagers ( I watched at least a dozen kids get knocked over or tripped bc no one stopped those that were speeding around them) wouldnt be the worst idea. Personally I would avoid peak times, it does get very crowded at night when they turn into secrets. Otherwise its a great rink. I have found no verification what so ever that this is largest rink in America though, and Ive looked, I even checked guineas. So if thats why you want to check it out dont. I honestly dont think it is the biggest.
The skating rink is still the same from 8 years ago when I was younger . No a/c except in the game room , they use large fans that do nothing but blow hot air . In the kitchen when you’re dying of thirst the old woman can’t even make you a cupOf water or ice , and they only take cash (yes in 2018 still taking cash only ) . Those were my two main issues as well as the staff being miserable in the kitchen. Also I’m suggesting they put up a basketball hoop so the kids can play basketball on skates or something , change it up you can’t keep the same routine and practices from when you first opened .
I just wish the no hat or headwear sign was bigger, so people notice it. The admission stand never told us about the rule, we only found out when we went out on the rink and told to take our hats off. It wasn’t just us though, I seen a lot of people get pulled aside, and told to take their hats off too.I understand the rule, the hat can fall off, and be a obstacle to other skaters.I’ve always had a lot of fun here. Between skating, the snack place, arcade, and when I was younger, secrets. I’m still going to come here, I just think it would be more insightful if the sign was bigger, or there were numerous signs, so the conductor wouldn’t have to tell people to get off the skating rink over hats.
The roller skating is fun but they dont give you any water for free no water fountain if you didnt bring a bottle youll have to pay 2.50$ for water. or you could drink sink water from the bathroom this sucks what if I had died of dehydration because I didnt drink toilet water otherwise great please fix this water issue
The light show was a lot of fun, but it got really annoying how at times skating was limited to couples only, or trios only. The lockers are also a rip off in that you have to pay 25 cents each time you wanna open your locker. In addition, the concession stand was a huge rip off. They dont give water out for free and they dont have a drinking fountain either so youre going to have to pay an arm and a leg for water.
Awesome place to work for and to just unwind and skate. Working for guptills is great, really nice people to work for Im very greatful to work at such a great business. I have been skating since I was 3 years old Ive been in competitions and pushed to do my best by my grandmother r.i.p. skating is one of my passions no matter what age Ill always love skating its a big part of me. Thank you so much guptill family yal are awesome!!!
They raise the price from $8 to $10 then $12 per person within short of time.. for no reason as I believe.. just take advantage as no other on this business than them in this area.. so bad... if they smart they must reduse the fees to $5 per person so the people can come many times a week and they will make more money.. for me I will look for other place of fun for my kids and save more money.
First I want to start by saying I have been going to Guptills for almost 45 years. I have many great memories I even met my wife Martha there. I can still remember the smell of her skates as we took our first couples ride around the ring. I love Guptills and everything it USED to stand for when Charles Sr. was in charge. That being said since his son came into power Charles skip Jr. all that has changed. His nickname is very fitting as it seems he has SKIPPED the part of owning a business where you treat your customers with integrity respect & fairness especially in the prices. Since when did everything start becoming about profits and stopped being about the community? I remember the days where businesses cared about the good honest people of the town but no more. I can hardly afford a cone and cruise with my kids anymore. Dont even get me started at the horrors ive seen at the teen club they call Secrets I once saw a young man give a girl what the kids call the Arabian Eyegoggles I was horrified. If you want your kids to become corrupt sexual deviants send them to secrets because thats exactly what the owners are doing, hiding being their secrets. Get back to the good days were Guptills was built on good friends good skatin good ice cream and good times. Sad to see a once great establishment run into the ground by its predecessors.
The worlds biggest indoor skating rink is fun, with a beautiful floor, cheap skate rentals, and good music that is just loud enough. Even with a full parking lot for a PTA event, there was still room to move around and sufficient number of rental skates. I do wish they would rent roller blades.
This rink has the smoothest floor of any rink I have been to and is always kept very clean. Its the Worlds Largest Rink and is in the Guinness book of world records sports edition. There is a main skating floor, a beginners rink, a baby rink and also snack bar, gameroom, party rooms and dance room called Secrets. I really suggest you check out this place because its such a fun place to skate at.
Not happy paid over $500 for a birthday party for my 4 granddaughters and the girls were expecting to be able to go into Secrets which is included in the party.. we now find out that out a 4 hour party Secrets will only be open for 1 hour..for the price we paid very unexceptable and when I spoke with an employee all I got was Secrets has limited hours ..well the website has no Sunday hours listed at all and no hours on the party site either..
Every time we try to go to Guptils, your hours change. Why arent you open summers during the week? 6:30-10:30? And only Friday and Saturday nights? Really? When you have young children , thats the last place I want to be on a Friday or Saturday night. No daytime hours or a bit earlier than 6:30 in the summer? There are such things as rainy days in the summer.
I like that theres separate rinks from the main rink where you can skate a little more privately. For those of us that want to work on tricks or enhance our sport in the winter months, or just keep our chops up, it means the world to me to have those side practice areas to freely work on skating without being in the way of skaters.
It really is the largest indoor roller skating rink in the world! The floor is grippier on the outside and slicker on the inside (painted wood), giving you some variety. Plus, the sides where you can work on your skills helps a lot if you are intimidated by the crowds.

2022-06-23We enjoyed the evening roller skating! It wasnt too crowded, and a mix of all level skaters. Great music!

2022-03-20OK, its the biggest roller rink in the United States, and quite possibly the world, plus it feels like it -- but dont let that intimidate you! Guptills Arena sends out a heavy vintage America vibe, but that floor is world-class, and the layout is so generous, you really cant go wrong. Whats different (one aspect among many) is that two additional, smaller spaces sit on either side of the vast main floor, and skaters can use them for practice. Its a little less of a spotlight than hanging out in the middle, plus friends can sit nearby. The amount of seating, for resting skaters as well as non-skating parents and chaperones, is a huge bonus. (Cant really comment on how Guptills caters to children, but I will say that every kid Ive ever seen here looks like theyre having a total blast) This is a family-friendly joint (complete with uniformed -- but unobtrusive -- floor guard!) for sure, but not the kind of place where you cant really skate, for all the squalling children and ice cream cones sprawled everywhere. If you came to skate, you can definitely get your skate on, and good skaters certainly make the scene. Downsides? Sound system is kept to conversation-tolerant volume, and music spans multiple generations (Bon Jovi to Pharrell). Basically, the downsides are also the upsides -- something for everyone to enjoy, and talk about without going deaf. But dedicating specific nights to specific music genres /eras would be fun. Very nice snack bar, game room, cheap (operational!) lockers, and pro shop. Plus the affiliated ice cream place next door boasts its own, separate and formidable, reputation. For me, the real charm is the space, decor, community, and generous feeling. Guptills really is something you should not miss.

2022-05-27You can tell there is a lot of history here, but at the same time is clean and well kept. Talking to some locals about their experiences there back in the day seems like a blast! Too bad the dance club is closed

2022-02-07I came here on 2/6/22 to try out skating with my 3 year old son with a family of 5. It costs $20 per person (which kids under 5 should be free) and paid $100. Immediately i can’t go on the skate rink because i have a 10 month old baby and can not take him out so One person already has to sit out and can’t skate. Immediately my toddler does not like skating. The manager on duty told us if we wanted a refund he would give it to me. Again i try one more time to let my toddler go and he still is crying. We decide to take off our shoes and ask for the refund. Now, the manager said he will refund us one child instead of all 5 people. We paid $100 for absolutely nothing. We will never be coming back here even when my son is older. I have not been here in 15+ Years and i was looking forward to doing something with my son i did when i was younger. Times have definitely changed.

2022-06-04Very ancient and almost historical perhaps thats why the charge $15 for 3 hrs of skating 🤷♀️. The place gets very crowded (to the capacity), so it is not particularly safe. Maybe they can start cutting off the line after a certain point.

2022-07-04Guptils has been around since I was a kid, then my children went, now my grandchildren. Always a great family time, however, we were very disappointed when we got a car full of kids and showed up on Saturday afternoon after reading on this website and on the actual door that the afternoon hours are from 1-4, we werent the only ones in the parking waiting to get in. I called and a woman said that ors closed for July and August in the afternoon, I suggested that they change their sign on the door and website.

2022-02-07This was a fun place to go for a date. I saw plenty of families and couples skating around. The place is huge and hasnt had an update in decades, it gives it a nostalgic and comforting aesthetic. If you have any interest in rollar skating, head to this place.
