Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ in other cities:
I THOROUGHLY enjoyed my evening with my friends at this place. The whole staff was just so welcoming and helpful. They always made sure everything was perfect! We cooked our meat and they knew exactly when to bring everything out. Our waiters name was David and he made our evening that much fun! He was very attentive and welcoming. 100% would recommend going here with friends and/or family! You will not regret it!
The restaurant is very good I loved it I want to go back. They take care of you very well answer all your questions and tell you specifically what each dish brings. they explain how to cook each type of meat and for how many minutes.we went like at 1pm and everything was on happy hour… We ordered appetizer and main course meat, shrimp, and they served them with rice and soup. They serve water and we ordered sodas but they have a some alcohol drinks… we didnt order dessert because we were already too full… we spent around $60-$70 dollars.
Celebrated my husbands birthday, the food was delicious, and the waiters were great. Definitely coming back. I loved how they chilled the beer mugs it gave the beer a yummy taste. I notice they add little details like a birthday sign to sing and at one point when it was getting warm they turned up the AC. The music and ambiance of the restaurant was great. Best dining experience of my life.
Came here for all you can eat bbq. Overall the experience was good. Ate a ton of food and our service was excellent (according to the receipt our server was Jackie and he was fantastic and friendly). FYI you have to cook your own food. Theres 3 options for AYCE, each around 10-20$ more per person for the more expensive option. The cheapest was 49$ per person which is quite expensive but ordering meat a la carte is also expensive so you can make it worth it. Theres also a selection of appetizers which were really tasty. My main issue with the food is that it is extremely marinated, so many things were super sweet and/or salty. If possible Id try to get meat without marinade. Some appetizers were also quite salty but still tasty. For dessert the cheapest menu had ice cream and smores available, which you assemble yourself by roasting the marshmallows at the fire. The green tea ice cream was the roundest Ive ever seen!
This place is phenomenal. Only been there once so far but its definitely the first of many times. The meats that are bought out are all almost perfectly seasoned and tender. The staff is fantastic and for some reason yelled some phrases out in unison every couple of minutes. It is a bit expensive but its very well worth it.
Great Japanese style bbq in the heart of Main Street flushing. Staff was professional and courteous our server was Alan, and he is great. Food was also good. Kids menu is available. The ambiance isnt bad. The place was clean and so is the bathroom. Parking is sketchy because is on the street.
Gyu-Kaku is a great restaurant especially for groups. They offer a wide array of choices, but, especially if its your first time there, they suggest their courses; a set number of plates offered from appetizers to the main course, until dessert. We ordered the Yakiniku, which was set for four people. The waiters would come in and out until youve received everything, and you would grill your own meats to your liking. They instruct you on how long the meats usually cook, even arranging the dishes by cooking time to keep you at ease. The entire experience left us all full and satisfied. So much so that we already intend to come back soon. Just make sure you reserve your table, as it can get pretty crowded.
The atmosphere was upbeat, crowded, and reminded me of a time before there were increased restaurant safety precautions. There are precautions in place such as dividers between customers, temperature check before you are seated, and servers wear masks, but I very much enjoyed the experience. It is mostly a cook for yourself barbecue experience with a friendly guide towards people who havent done it before with small dishes being available that are prepared which servers bring from the kitchen. The price range is vast from low to high for cuts of meat, but it does give customers an opportunity to try a higher quality dish at a reasonable price. Portions though may not necessitate the price so I would recommend ordering at least 2 cuts of meat at the lower range to gauge if you are more comfortable with a more expensive cut. I would pay attention to the different marinates that are available for each cut which impacts the flavor tremendously. There is a time restriction, but with the abundance if servers and the ease of ordering and speed, you wont really feel it. I would recommend this place to introduce people into the concept if cooking your own food tableside and the flavor profiles make each dish satisfying and interesting.
Came here on a Sunday night and loved the experience. The wait was about 30 minutes. When I got in, the layout of the restaurant looked so nice and clean. The table was laid out nicely as well. Our waiter approached us quickly and was very kind and enthusiastic, which is always a plus. We ordered the Meat Lovers BBQ combo, as well as some pork belly, ramen, tuna poke nachos, and spicy tuna volcano. The food came quickly and were all delicious. When it came to grilling the meats, it didnt take long at all, and our waiter came by every 5 minutes to change the grill for us. The sauces were amazing as well. Finally, the smores for dessert was a really fun experience. The only downside of the restaurant is that it was a little expensive, but the price was comparable to most Korean BBQ restaurants that Ive been to. If you get their app, then there are some rewards that you can redeem after acquiring points. Definitely would recommend this restaurant and come here again soon.
Premium is $44. I enjoyed the toro beef. I would come back here on a later date to enjoy other options. Staff is friendly. It can be busy but it was a fun trip. Good for a casual hangout or a date. I recommend trying out the meats 1 dish of each. That way you can find your favorite cut to grill. Some are a bit fatty(pack a lot of flavor) while others may suit those who like the more beefy taste. Glad I didnt need a reservation but I can see why it would need some. Its a very popular place.
I am really sad to have to write this review because I love this restaurant and this location but I had the worst possible service today that I walked out. My friend and I had a 6pm. When we arrived 5 minutes prior to our reservation, they told us to sit at the bar and our table will be ready shortly. We ordered 2 drinks. Not even 2 minutes after we got our drinks they came to use and told us to close out our tab because our table was ready. We paid in cash and sat at our table since we planned on ordering more drinks with our food. While we are waiting to order food the bartender came over to use very aggressively telling us we didn’t leave a tip and if we liked our drinks. We told him our drinks were fine and we planned on ordering more drinks. He continued to harass us very loudly and aggressively saying how we didn’t tip him, and he didn’t need the money, but continued to harass us for a tip. WE HADNT EVEN ORDERED FOOD YET. I asked him if he does this to all customers and he said just the ones that don’t tip. Again, WE ONLY HAD DRINKS NOT EVEN FOOD YET. When our waitress came back we kindly advised her what happened and that we would not be dining there this evening. I am so disappointed and disgusted at how this man harassed us. I can’t say I’ll be dining at this location again.
Wow, how do I begin? This place right here is the best one out of the Manhattan. The Waiter (dave) service here goes the extra mile on changing the grill. So food tastes better. 10x better. Food here is great. The atmosphere is very nice 👌 over all outstanding. Will come here agian.
Service is top notch, food is great, price is good. we came in a group of 4 on a thursday, waited about 15-20 mins, got seated, our server was extremely polite and explained to us how to cook the meats properly. drinks are good. we had a great time. highly highly recommended
My table was constantly cleaned by the busser and wait staff. My tab came to 110$ w a 20$ tip cause it was all worth itEmployees seem motivated to work here, theyre chill and attentive. As a Mexican, some of the meats were too sweet for my tastebut thats no issue since this is a Japanese BBQ and I guess this is how they eat it over there.Great experience
Ok so first off RSVP ahead of time, otherwise you may enjoy the same 90min wait I did before your meal. Once inside the entire staff is friendly, on the way to be seated the workers welcome u with a Japanese greeting which was pretty unique. Alan my server was awesome and attentive. The Garlic chicken noodles were good, the Pork Ramen soup was on point, and that serbert dessert was yummy af too! All and all a good meal and dinning experience..will definitely be back!!
The food is definitely good and so is the service. The only disappointing part was waiting time is too high. We almost waited for 1.5 hrs. However, the happy hour is even better as drinks price went almost half the price. The downloading of app gave us few points and using the dining coupon we got $15 off as well for our dinner. Will b back🙏
My husband and I have been to every Gyu Kaku location in Manhattan - and this Queens location is THE BEST one!! The meat was so fresh and our server, Ke, was such a delight! He changed our grills often without us having to ask and checked on us several times during our dinner. We will go back just for his outstanding service! Make sure you ask for him!!
We tend to choose Korean style BBQ over Japanese so it has been long time since our last visit to Gyu-Kaku.The space was wide and clean and the vibe was energetic and casual. Their service was attentive and super friendly, the staff changes the grilled dishes a lot to make sure we can grill under good condition. We ordered the holiday special set for 2 and did extra orders of meat. The sides in the set were in smaller portion but with variety, and also delicious. The quality of their meat was decent but most of their meat was prepared and dipped in sauce but it was too salty for us.Make sure to download their app to get rewards so you can get free sides and dishes.
Definitely one of the best bbq places in town. The food tasted fantastic and I believe it was well worth the price. There are three price tiers for the AYCE - $44/54/64 per person, with the higher prices covering some premium dishes. You have to cook your own food btw. We did feel the waiter could be a bit nicer tbh. Otherwise, highly recommended.
Make sure to reserve a table as this place is packed. The food is delicious - try the 90min all you can eat options for a feast. The package includes good quality cuts of meat, and depending if you are a big eater, can work out much cheaper than ordering one by one.Service was excellent. Quality of a Manhattan bbq in the middle of flushing.
Try this restaurant out for yourself. Some reviews may be misleading. Today I tried this restaurant for the first time . There was no wait to be seated, and our waitress was prompt and polite. The group that I was with decided to get one combo with a few added sides which turned out to be enough for 2 people to eat and still have left overs to take home . The meal comes with soup , salad, appetizers, a selection of various kind of fresh/ raw meat , rice dishes and even a cute desert of smores to top off the experience. I loved the food and I do plan on returning. P.S. prepare to turn up the heat and cook your own meat because this restaurant allows you to cook at your own table. The staff is absolutely amazing , friendly and accommodating . I will definitely be back to this restaurant .
Love every second as the taste was heaven and the steamd hibachi table fused the tender meats to specific elegance. The wait time was well worth it with a packed establishment that incorporates the tradition hibachi eatery, dim lights and unique style of positive energy and vibes from the staff.
Six of us tried out to this Japanese BBQ restaurant for the first time. We ordered a set dinner for 6 people. It came with Miso soup, salad, appetizers, 7 main courses with meat and shrimps, and a dessert. Service was good and most of the meat tastes good as well. However, we found out a plate of assorted vegetables was a little bit small. It was definitely not for 6 people. Each of us didnt get at least one piece of each type of vegetables. The price was reasonable.
The staff is very attentive and professional. The Wagyu beef speaks for itself. The other dishes were great. I recommend the tuna nachos. The tortillas were made on site and it all came together nicely. The umakara beef was a bit too thin and hard to cook because pieces would fall through the grill. Otherwise great service and food.
Great place! The staff is super helpful in explaining how to grill each piece of meat and vegetables. I went to a couple places like this in Japan and it is exactly the same. The happy hour special is great for 2-3 people! The meat was delicious and I will definitely come back here when I am back in Flushing
This restaurant is part of a popular Japanese restaurant chain. All the ones I have gone to a great. This particular restaurant in Flushing, NY is a great place with a great staff. There are several minor differences from the original restaurants in Japan, but the quality of the service and food is the same, absolutely magnificent! Our waiter was amazing and the general manager seemed to have made it a point to stop and say hello to each customer and thank them for going to the restaurant. True Japanese hospitality.
Made a reservation for myself and my cuz to celebrate a late Birthday. He is a carnivore and i figured he would appreciate this place. We got there a few minutes after our reservation. The area is not always easy to find parking. Our table was not ready so we went to the bar. People take their time eating because it is quite good. We ordered some nigori sake to start and our bartender Dennis was so cool. I tried to offer for him to have a shot but he had to decline nicely. The bar can only sit about 6 people but the bar area can hold quite a few people. Our table was ready in less than 10 mins, and we proceeded to a full restaurant in the back of the 3rd floor. As soon as we sat down, we were greeted by our server, another nice guy. If you have to judge with their service, you can definitely give them a 5. We asked the waiter to surprise us and he accomplished that. We decided to go with the All you can eat $50 platter. We did some appetizers, like edamame, fried chicken pieces, the seaweed salad and the dumplings which were really good. The grill started going and we commenced our attack of the food. The grill is hot so be careful not to burn yourself. Some meats you frill for 30 seconds, some 45 seconds and other between 1 to 2 mins on each side. You do have to watch this carefully, because the meat can burn. The waiters replace the grill top every 20 mins to keep a clean grill top available. Sign up for the gyu kaku app, its worth the extra thinhs you can get. Spoke to my cuz and he said he would like to return in 2 weeks, which i am definitely ok with. When we left, we were full!!!
We were just stopping by Flushing and looking for some amazing food- which we found here! My husband and I ordered a lunch combo that included salads, miso soup, lots of meat, rice, and s’mores! It was an amazing price and so delicious. The waiters are very attentive and helpful. The restaurant is also pretty spacious so even though the restaurant was packed, it was still a private experience. I would definitely come again if I was in the area!
Just borderline okay. Idk if it was just because the they can’t have grills outside or what but it was overpriced and just alright. The vegetables were super bland and some of them drenched in butter. Honestly there are so many good Korean BBQ places in Flushing and maybe I’m just partial to Korean over Japanese, but best to stick to what’s consistently good.
I feel the lady who is responsible for the appointment was super unprofessional.Yesterday when I went there, that lady told me I needed to wait for the table. So I told her my name and number and told her I gonna go to the store across the street. At 6:45 - She called me and indicated that my table was ready. At 6:47 - I arrived at the restaurant, and she told me they were cleaning up my table.7:03 - After 16 mins wait, she told me again they were still cleaning.7:10 - They finally let me have my seat...You can watch the CCTV make sure all the timing I provided is correct; I also have the call record to prove that she called me at 6:45.*Im curious what kind of table need to be cleaned up from 6:45 to 7:10?If next time the table will be ready at 7:10, please contact the customer who is just across the street at 7:05 instead of 6:45.
The flushing location is just as great as the East Village location, great food/prices during happy hour and prompt service. A little smaller than other locations so make a reservation if you dont want to wait. Also big shout out to my server Ian for the great service and letting us take a pic with him lol
Just found out that gyukaku has all you can eat. I went there for lunch so I didnt get the all you can eat but it was good to know. I ordered ramen , it was tasty maybe because I was really hungry. The server was new but he was attentive. His manager was also trying to make the customers comfortable so that was a big plus for me. The meat is always the best part of gyukaku there is no question about that. Oh yeah and the addictive cabbage. I make that my own now it was that good.
Definitely good quality meat! The portions are a little small so expect to pay a little bit more than Korean bbq but the difference is obvious. You can taste the flavors of meat and its not all the same marinade. The service is fast so you dont have to wait for the grill to be changed for very long. They have a happy hour I believe from 3 to 6 so you get good priced drinks and a discount on the meats!
Tired of KBBQ? Try JBBQ (Japanese bbq)! Located at the heart of Flushing Main st. Whats the difference? Well, theres a lot of different selections to choose from that arent all offered in a traditional KBBQ menu. Theres no side dishes because it isnt part of their culture like in Korea, but dont let that be a turn off. The staff are very friendly and helpful if its your first time here. Depending on your menu choice, you have to try everything on it, even the dessert!
Easily one of, if not the best Gyu-Kaku location. Staff members are extremely friendly and welcoming and the wait times aren’t too long, though you should always reserve in advanced if you can. The food is of incredible quality, and doesn’t even leave a smell compared to other DIY BBQ restaurants. Price point is reasonable, though you definitely should take advantage of happy hour (which is really all day minus peak dinner times) and lunch hours. And the desserts are so good, especially the idea that you can make s’mores at your table! Such a fun and enjoyable dining experience!!!
Much better than the gyu Kaku in White plains. The food was delivered in a timely fashion and the servers do a great job replacing the grill every so often. We also got hand towels at the end of our meal. The best thing is the cheap happy hour drinks. $7 for a macallan 12!
Awesome experience!!! All the meats were def good quality and service wasn’t to bad. They did come around very often to put new grill after cooking on it which was awesome. We got the all you can eat for an hour and half and turned it we got to try most of the items and then some… Def will be back!
Great food. I had the all you can eat for $35. They also have a premium all you can eat for 45. The service was great. They changed the grill often. For the all you can eat they have 2 desserts, either smores or vanilla ice cream and you can get more than 1 scoop. Tye cucumbers were good. The cabbage didnt have much flavor to it. I put the cabbage into the cucumber sauce for flavor
Great food, fun atmosphere, friendly and exciting staff... what’s not to love?! I had a reservation and they seated me promptly. When a new patron walks in there’s a server/usher that greets them and loudly announces their presence to the rest of the diners.. it’s very fancy. The food was really good and the variety is endless.. there’s even a wagyu beef option. I would go with the preselected assortment for two. Highly recommended!
Atmosphere is great they have grill tables where you an grill your own meat (which Ill try next time).Friendly staff that says thank you in Japane. Props to Shohan he was very knowledgeable, when he was at my table we not only talk about the super delicious food but we also talked about shows that we liked. He went above and beyond when I forgot my messenger bag, when i realized i forgot my bag he was already outside looking for me in the cold weather.
Been to this for some time and every time its better. My recent visit was amazing, I called to make a reservation since there wasnt anything available in their site. The host that was there was able to squeeze in my mother and I. Thank god I live on the same block as this spot. What I always enjoy is the energy that the staff brings when new customers enter. The waiter we had was amazing, he gave awesome vibes and energy. What made this time better than before was when I found out that they updated the menu to an all you can eat option. Boy, was that the best thing from this spot. All things considered definitely a spot Ill continue to be going to and taking family and friends.
The food here is amazing. I had a reservation that I was late to by 30 minutes and they accommodated me and didn’t rush me out. I had the full experience and I loved it. The food is seasoned and marinated to perfection, it’s so flavorful and you can cook it to how you like it. I would come here every week if I could.
It is just your average bbq where they have the grill in the table. The food was pretty decent and the service was alright but I don’t recommend this to anyone that isn’t experienced with Japanese bbq since the staff aren’t the ones cooking for you. They only bring out the meat and you have to cook it yourself. For some reason they just don’t have all you can eat on the weekends and if it isn’t all you can eat it is pretty expensive.
This place was so so good!! The atmosphere is really great, the table is really big so you can fit everything and also the waiters explain how to cook everything. I personally love to cook so this experience was pretty fun😂 The sauces they gave us to dip the meats were also very yummy, prices were reasonable BUT make sure you go on the emptiest of stomaches because it is a lot of food. Overall, really great place and would 100% recommend!!
Ive been to the other location in Flatiron and this location was far more beautiful in comparison! The ambiance was trendy, dark with high ceilings, an open kitchen and outdoor seating. I recommend making reservations.- Quesos Y Empuditos (Cheese/Meat platter): Great for sharing with a large group. It came like a work of art with assorted fresh/dried fruits, breads, spreads, peppers and olives.- Croquette: Creamy and delicious. Cant go wrong.
If I could leave more stars I would! This place is amazing , first time being there and I can’t wait to go back. Everything was so delicious , from the food to the music & the ambiance. customer service top notch. We even got free drinks on the house. Definitely coming back! Make your reservations
Love this place we come out from Long Island about an hour drive happy hour is awesome prices slashes a little drinks are always amazing we go to Gyu-Kaku in the city and love that they opened a location in flushing a little closer! Everything is good here we have never had a bad experience. We take our one year old and they accommodate us even though it’s not easy and we normally come with a couple other kids
Fresh food, delicious cooked food, polite and cordial service, the waiters keep the neat and beautiful appearance.my suggestion is a list of suggested cooking time of various foods, e.g. next to the name of food, 15-20 seconds per each side. It help to cook food to the best taste n dont waste food due to overcook, it save time to the waiters to explain to customers and help to save manpower especially during rush hours
Consistent BBQ spot regardless of the location that you choose. The food is always great and the AYCE menu items are a decent quality. The servers are friendly and never seem annoyed even though I keep them very busy. This time I chose the Supreme AYCE option mostly because I like tongue and thats the tier that allows you to have many plates as you want. Not sure why its one plate per person when you are paying for the AYCE option. I had five plates of it.I ate a lot of meat, too much to keep track of. The most memorable item was the fried calamari. It was lightly fried, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Not rubbery or over breaded. It was delicious, so surprisingly good that I had to order another one.I was very disappointed that they ran out of ice cream and sorbet. It basically eliminates three out of the four dessert options. They tried to blame it on the pandemic but it sounded like they had been out for a few days. Its vanilla ice cream...
It is very expensive compare with what you get. It appears to be a buffet, but there is a time limit and they serve very slowly. It feels like they purposely delay the food. Meats and shrimps have extremely small portions and rice or noodles have big portions. This place controls the amount of what customers eat in a very sneaky way. We waited for 15 minutes for our last order which is 4 shrimps. They don’t even need to cook anything, just put 4 shrimps on a plate. If you can’t afford opening a buffet restaurant, then don’t call it buffet. Customers eat under time pressure and the fear of being fined. The owner is being so cheap and greedy. I don’t have any issues with this particular restaurant, but I hate the way they do business. I will never go to any of their restaurants again.
Shoutout to Charles, Ian, Phyllis, and Waan for making this a great night!Recommendations: Fries w/ Cod Caviar, Garlic Shrimp, Garlic Noodles, Ribeye, and Yaki-shabu Beef. Like their page on Facebook for free edamame!Disclaimer: Im still coming down from the high of knowing this is finally open, so please excuse the over-the-top excitement & super long review. I called on a whim to check if they were open and huzzah! Opening for 4 for 8pm on the same day. A miracle (especially when I walked in and realized just how long the wait was for walk-ins).I am so, so thrilled that Gyukaku Flushing has finally opened. Im a regular at Gyukaku Cooper Square (so much so that the bartenders recognize me, oh dear), and now that Ive moved away from the city, Gyukaku tops the list of things I miss about living in East Village.Ill start with the bad: Im going to chalk this up to the soft opening struggles, but portions were markedly smaller for the prepared/ cooked food (appetizers and noodles). This was very noticeable in the Garlic Noodles, Spicy Tuna Volcano, and Fries w/ Cod Caviar. The noodles and fries were fully half of the portion Im used to, and the volcano was missing about half the usual amount of spicy tuna. That said, it IS their soft opening, and they were super, super crowded. If they were a little short on ingredients I can understand. Same goes for the time it took to bring out the food. Did I mention they were REALLY crowded? Now for the good: the food! Everything was delicious, despite the smaller portions for prepared/cooked food. The rice in the volcano was crispy and perfectly cooked, and the meats were well marinated and seasoned. The managers Charles and Ian were running around like chickens with their heads cut off, but they still found time to check in and make sure I knew to let them know once my full party arrived. Phyllis, you make a mean Villagers Iced Tea! Waan, our server, was very sweet and changed our grill often. All in all, I had a great time! My recommendations are above, and I look forward to coming back. (:
I have no pictures 💀 i just took a few videos!! But this place is so cool the waiters there are so friendly!! I went there last week to celebrate my friends birthday and we even brought a cake...the food is amazing!! So I highly recommend this place!! Ill back soon for sure!!
I love this restaurant chain (I met in Miami). But the day I went to this location with my family to celebrate my big sons birthday, I was upset that the host didnt want to give me the family bathroom to change my little baby, she just telling me that people use the available bathroom as they can to change diapers to babies where she only has a toilet.
A roach crawled down the wall behind my friend all the way down into the booth seat with her. The waiter just used a napkin to swipe it up while making sure no one else saw him. It was packed at 8pm and the roach did not seem startled by the commotion or the brightness. It walked right toward my friend even after swatting it away. That’s a clear sign of an infestation imo. We complained quietly and respectfully (we should’ve left!) They moved our seat and then gave us the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Our waiter disregarded us for 25-30 minutes at a time. We had to chase him down for our check. We received no discount on our $150 bill and the food was subpar. My first and last time at this chain.
The food was delicious, however this was not a kid friendly location. I was inconvenienced at the fact that they did not have any high chairs. They only provide booster seats that are not big enough for toddlers. For parents that cant leave their little ones at home, heads up before you go there. Other than that, I feel that the staff was nice. I do recommend that for first timers the staff should take a bit more time really explaining how the Japanese bbq experience is. Ultimately, nice experience!
This is a great place to eat. Also very good place for a date. You put your raw meat (thin slices) on a grill and cook it yourself,to your liking. Your sides are already made. The drinks are decent. The staff is very available, attentive and frequently offer to change your grill even when its busy, which is often. Every time I go I get the $65 meat lovers special. Also if you plan on going often. I recommend getting the app. I definitely recommend this place!
Love this place and the happy hours ill come here every monthYhe service always good. Parking is very easy to get . The menu is always on point and variety always available so far all restaurants chains this is the best one . I have been to Florida, nothing. Compares this one I would definitely Will come back this is one of my favorite spots in queens . !!!
Hostess and host were unorganized and unprofessional. I arrived at 7 and the host told me there was not going to be a table open until 8:15. Then the hostess took down my name and phone number. I came back at 7:50 and the host and hostess said they never promised me a table. They were extremely aggressive and unprofessional. I am a regular at Gyu-Kaku in Brookline, Boston and have never been treated this way. I do not recommend going to the Flushing location.
It was the very first in this restaurant, the service was amazing. You must book your table in advance, and prices are a little high. However it’s a nice place and very good food, and the concept is amazing! You technically cook your dinner and dessert! Portions might look like small but you would be extremely satisfied at the end! Perfect place to have a nice romantic dinner, family night out or night out with friends. They also have a small bar, not too sure how is the experience in the bar but totally something to check out!
What a wonderful experience! Friendliest staff! Our waiter was so attentive and knowledgeable about gluten free options. Restaurant was clean and everyone was courteous! The Happy Birthday singing was so energetic and cheerful. Will definetly return to this Gyu Kakus.
Went in looking for a quick meal, left with one of the best and most unique dining expiriences Ive had in a while.Eating at Gyu-Kaku BBQ felt like an expirience. Getting to cook my own meat gave me a nice sense of acomplishment (dont worry first timers, the wait staff are more than happy to help you on the grill). Id recomend coming with someone else or with a group so you can have a nice chat while your waiting for your meat to cook. The food was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I am definetly coming back here.
Some of the best Japanese barbecue I have had in quite some time, I took my grandmother and brother there on a Saturday when it was crowded, there was a bit of a long wait (45 mins to a hour) , but the food was great and it was a very memorable experience, the staff were super friendly and it was a very clean establishment, I would gladly go back for another special occasion
Decent Japanese barbeque place where you can grill the meats yourself at the table with plenty of options for everyone. Make a reservation because its pretty popular and the food is really good. They offer all you can eat and regular menu. Regular menu has barbeque sets for 2, 4, and 6 that are pretty good and would definitely be enough for that number of people. The sets come with dessert smores at the end.
Great Staff! The wait was 30-45 mins but we sat at the bar and had some apps. The hostess came to us when our table was ready. Bartender Dennis was cool and the cold sake is amazing. THE BACON CHIPS ARE LIFE !!!!! The meats were marinated and delicious. They have an app worth downloading, you can redeem points for rewards!!! This is 100% a great place to dine, I loved the experience.
It was our first time, so we didnt have a reservation. Seating was fast, and the booths were plexiglassed off. All covid guidelines were being followed. Our waitstaff felt more like an old friend than a stranger. The service was amazing, and the food umai!We will be back!
Had a great time thanks to our servers, Joyce and Victor. I have allergies and I never relax in restaurants but because they were so on point I didnt have to think twice about enjoying my meal. We went for my brothers birthday and ordered 2 meat lovers combo which left the 4 of us in a comatose state. The meats, salads and edamame were super fresh and tasty. This will now be my go to family function spot.
I love this restaurant, just not this location. Doesnt offer the ambiance of the other locations I go to. We sat for 10 minutes before they remembered to give us the card to scan and get the menu. Incorrect orders were bought over as well a rice dish that was burnt and crispy. Think Ill just continue to drive into the city even though this location is fairly close to me.
The food was amazing. This was my first time trying Japanese bbq and I was impressed. To top it off the customer service was unbelievably amazing. Janet our waiter was amazing at her job, I rarely receive customer service this great while dining. The manager was also great, I saw him checking each table throughout the night to make sure everyone was happy. I will definitely be back!!
Wow, Super tasty food. I had a lot fun in the restaurant. My gf insisted on taking me there. I cant believe how good the food tasted. Plus, it is really fun cooking the flavorful meats they offered. The BBQ taste was AWESOME! It is really good to be able to cook things to the degree I like to eat them at. I will be back for sure!
This place is simply delicious! You will get back every penny spent and you won’t regret it. They have an immense variety of meat cuts and the service is great. The space is enormous, although if you go on peak hour, you may have to wait because this place is really popular.
Victor is the man! We missed our reservation, and he was nothing but extremely accommodating! The staff was also extremely pleasant. Hard to find such amazing service in nyc, but this location goes heads and tails above other gyu kaku chains. It’s no wonder this place books up quickly!
This location is absolutely amazing. Food so flavorful but what really puts it over the top is customer service. Every. Single. Person was welcoming. I especially appreciate the manager taking to the time To visit our table to make sure we were having the best experience. I will definitely be revisiting.
One of my go-to date night locations. Come here with my girlfriend almost on a weekly basis. Staff is awesome and friendly: really appreciates regulars with management surprising you with dessert on the house on rare occasion. Food is amazing with very generous portions. Flame is never too hot, so its very forgiving to those new to Korean/Japanese BBQ. Menu is decently priced with happy hour specials every day. Will continue to visit this location for years to come.
Amazing experience here. Went with a group of seven got seated fairly fast considering we did make a reservation. They do time you which I’m not crazy about but I don’t mind being the timer was set for two hours which I believe is a good amount of time. The food was amazing we got the shogun and samurai because why not. Can’t think of any item I didn’t like. And their server were amazing very attentive check very often to make sure we were good and had water. Also knew all the drinks in details that’s a plus. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

I adore this spot! They serve good food, their menu is large, The cook in that restaurant is a real pro, I enjoy a lot eating all their dishes. The food is always fresh and tasty, the attitude towards the guests is very good too. I go often to this restaurant and I was never discontended. I recommend it to all.
Hello, I have been visiting this location over 4 years possibly now. After today’s visit, I will not be visiting this location. I am beyond disappointed with the management as well the staff member, and their services also. I had made a reservation for 2:45 PM. When I got to the location, the street was blocked by construction crew and there was no parking. I sent my significant other to proceed inside and perhaps get a table and order whatever she desires. The management as well as the server denied her any service, even an table. If she’s there already she should be allowed a table, even if I never showed up, she was still present and should be allowed a table. This is beyond unacceptable of an company who has such high standard. I won’t be stepping through those door ever again, will be taking my business somewhere else and won’t be recommending to any friends or family either. Goodbye.
Hi other gyu Kaku I love more than the manhattan Gyu kakus, I have been really happy with the service everytime I visit here and your staff is just really chill and cool. I also generally love the yaki shabu so much that I wanted to tell the internet a second time that this place, especially for lunch, is great. I come here every other month and am still really excited about coming back next month.
This was my first time dining here but it most certainly wont be my last. The customer service in here is through the roof. Our waiter Tim was very knowledgeable and professional. He explained everything to us and made great recommendations for our group. We were able to order plenty of drinks for happy hour and the food & drinks were delish!
Food is good, Atmosphere and waiter was friendly, Services good a little slow but it was happy hour and we had a big group of 11. Reservation before hand if big group. NOTE we selected our course when we reserve but had to reorder. Other then the wait for the reorder it was a above average place to eat.
I like this restaurant! They prepare splendid food, their menu is nice, The chef in that restaurant is very trained, I love very much eating all their dishes. The dishes are consistently tasty, the attitude towards the guests is agreeable. I go often to this place and I was never unsatisfied. I recommend it with no hesitation.
Great customer service, prices are okay. I went to the one in white plains, prices are a lot cheaper. Other than that this place is really good.I would try the first level of all you can eat then the next level. Definitely eat KALBIAlso try the SPICY CUCUMBER its not spicy at all, its the opposite its so enjoyable
Was here last night and i go quite often to the city locations. The place was clean and staff was friendly. The meats are always delicious and full of flavor. I really like the activity of cooking yourself at the table, this is a great date night or 1st date type of place. During happy hour the nearly half priced menu makes it very affordable as well. Try the harami special pot 21 day aged skirt steak and the bimimbop rice. Good food, good price, good atmosphere.
The all you can eat (Monday to Thursday) always hits the spot after a long day at work. Staff is always amazing at this location, quick, attentive and genuinely nice. I’ve been here several times and will keep coming back!Been coming here for years. Happy they reopened and are back to ayce. But really sad they no longer have Mr. green tea ice cream. The new one is really not good.
We cannot stop coming to Gyu-Kaku, it has seriously been addicting. Weve visited the Flushing location about 3-4 times already within the last month, and every time has been a great experience. I highly recommend making reservations (you can do it right through their website), they do get busy, especially on the weekends. When you first come in, you are greeted by the friendly hostess, who brings you to your table. Almost immediately, our waiter/waitress arrived to show us the menu & take our drink orders (come during cocktail hour & have 1/2 priced drinks!). The food arrives quickly once it arrives, and the food is also always fresh - weve had appetizers, meat & veggie dishes, and also dessert - everything was delicious. We will continue to come to this location and recommend others to visit, too.
Went there last week it was an amazing 1 st time experience with Korean bbq. We had an amazing server (he was Egyptian sorry I forgot his name but was amazing ) everyone that touched the table was super friendly and attentive . Did the all you can eat meat everything came out quick and was tasty and grills were changed constantly and quickly.
It is a very crowded restaurant and a busy one.needs reservation. had very good food. the two of us had dinner for $80.00 the end of meal they wanted to give us smorge for dessert which we do not like nor want. waiter was to ask manager but came back to say no. with a dinner like that and we like the restaurant and a continuous customer the restaurant could not even give us a scoop of ice cream each. this seems a bit stingy and bad customer relations.. i just do not believe it... usually they are very casual about dessert.. how much can dessert be
This is one of mine and my wife’s favorite places to go. Lots of fun and the food is always amazing. We love cooking the food ourselves. The staff is always very helpful and willing to accommodate us, our friends, children, etc. we recommend this to all of our friends
Absolutely LOVE this restaurant. Our friends invited us here once and we were hooked. All of our experiences have been great. Every single server weve gotten was amazing, friendly, and polite. Definitely 5 stars and will always go back.*side note, we visited a gyu-kaku in Miami while we were on vacation. We did not receive the same treatment. The service was terrible. Our rice and noodles were sub par. Our server looked highly annoyed and barely made eye contact with us, didnt make any recommendations, how to cook to meats or for how long. We told our friends in Miami to be weary of that location.
The food was well seasoned and they have great customer service. Originally we ordered 2 plates of meat which was not enough because they are small thinly sliced meats. We ended up ordering two more plates of the spicy pork and the kalbi short rib. Next time well come earlier enough to partake in the happy hour and 2 for $55
Loved it. On a Sunday night it was busy, and deservedly so. We had a barbecue set meal and some (pretty stiff) cocktails. You cook your own meats yourself at the table so you can have them just the way you like. This one is definitely a keeper and this Japanese barbecue put the barbecue places Ive been to in Little Korea in Manhattan to shame.
I tended to stay away from gyu kaku due to the price for what you get. But since it was highly rated spot in flushing, I decided to try it with some friends. First off I didn’t know about the buffet ending at a certain time so be mindful of that.Next the manager recommended the samurai meal, it feeds 6 but we were 5 and he said it would be more then enough...It was not enough, maybe for 5 children but not 5 fully grown adults with American appetites. The food didn’t taste bad per say but it wasn’t really enough to enjoy. You get one piece each of steak, a strip of steak each isn’t going to let you enjoy that cut of meat. But for the buffet menu, I can see it being a good deal.
I sent my friends to this restaurant with my warmest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. This recommendation is always successful. The the cooking is yummy and the stuff is generous and cooperative. Every time we eat in this place we enjoy a pleasant time. highly recommended.
Great as both a BBQ place and bar. The staff are all really proffesional and fun. Have been asked by mangement about any comments on anything. Its hard to have anything to say because everything is so great. The BBQ is great, the vacuum is right over the grill no smoke exits near you. The bar is a little small only for about 20 people but its great for small meals and appetizers. Nothing bad to say about this place.
We arrived at this spot for lunch. we heard about this restaurant from a lot of people. Well, it was a winning. we were warmly welcomed by the staff members and we felt good. The meal was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed every moment and we shall definitely come back again. Keep it up.

2022-03-20My daughter wanted to take me here, and Im glad she did the food was very good prices not to bad for a couple I say in the range with a drink $100 plus tax and tip. The meat range was a lot of food, and the fried rice was superb! My favorite was the fried chess wonton! The drinks were top shelf liquor, which was a plus.Reservation is the best way to go, or you could have a long wait. This restaurant is now available to come in without proof of vaccination.

2022-04-18If allowed we literally would have stayed all day. Happy hour.. flavorful meats and a friendly staff. Win win win. I should also mention it’s kid friendly, has great decor and they sing everyone happy birthday with a sign. Nothing negative about this place…loved it.

2021-12-04Great spot for Japanese BBQ! The staff is super helpful and friendly. I would recommend under ordering and ordering more as you go. The portions are pretty big. If you order the set menu for the number of people you have, you will likely have extra. All of the dishes are very tasty! The restaurant gets busy for dinner, i Woolf recommend making a reservation if you can.

2021-09-17Such an awesome experience every time I eat at this restaurant. The customer service is amazing, staff are friendly and always helpful. There are so many options to choose from, our group usually orders the six person option. Lots of different cuts of beef, pork, different style of chicken and shrimp. I recently tried the cheese corn and it is DELICIOUS! The entire experience was fun and it all the dishes are flavorful and nicely portioned. The bill can easily hit $400 for a group of 6 but it is worth all the money spent. The green tea crepe and the lava cake are probably my most favorite items on the menu. The pesto/garlic shrimp when cooked right are delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant if you truly wish to experience Japanese bbq. Get the frozen mango sangria and thank me later 😁😁

2021-12-15We ate the meat lovers, it was a bbq meal perfectly for two persons, they have a good cocktail menu with a lot of options to choose,I highly recommend to do reservation because it’s a busy place so if you really don’t like to wait is better that you do reservation before. The food was perfectly prepared. the staff is so helpful they are always checking the bbq and cleaning the grill. How I mention before the drinks were refreshing and delicious. The dessert it’s delicious too. It’s an incredible place quiet and they put good music.

2022-05-11When I first entered this restaurant, I was greeted by a hostess which was really friendly and accommodating. Our server was very funny, friendly accommodating to any needs we had. Overall, the bbq was super delicious and tender. The side dishes were also really tasty as well. We had the premium all you can eat which had unlimited food for 90 mins. Definitely recommend this restaurant, the ambiance was so inviting and cozy.

2022-02-21Amazing spot for Japanese BBQ. My boyfriend and I are always going to Gyu-Kaku. We order the Meat Lovers which is perfect for two people, and we also ALWAYS order the Garlic Noodles with chicken which taste amazing and one more thing that I also recommend is trying the secret pot, super good! Make sure to make an appointment ahead of time because they get booked pretty quick.

2022-03-19Had a great time here celebrating my friends birthday! Our server Mo was super nice and friendly. We ordered the lunch course for 2 during the weekday. The course had starters: salad, miso soup, white rice, chicken kaarage. Bbq items: kalbi chuck rib, Yaki-shabu beef, toro beef, pork belly, and chicken breast. Dessert: s’moresI told Mo it’s my friends birthday and they surprised him with ice cream with a candle on top + a cute happy birthday sign and a hat for him.The s’mores are so good! I accidentally burnt mine and it was on fire 😅 (make sure to blow it out) but it still tasted really good.

2022-01-28Compared to the one in Midtown, this place felt more cramped. Nonetheless the food was great although the menu is a bit different. The view at the place is also kinda meh. All that being said, I still highly recommend checking this place out. Be sure to download the app beforehand and see if you get any offers. Might save some money.
