I really like my hair. I got ash blonde balayage.I didn’t like how I was sitting idly for over an hour while everyone else in the salon had someone working on their hair. My appointment was at 10am and promptly seated, but mid-appointment, the stylist leaves. My hair was bleached and waiting on toner......... An entire hour goes by and I’m just sitting there with yellow hair.............. eventually, I get tired of it and ask if anyone is going to come work on my hair.... I was so upset about it, because I had seen great reviews, great photos, and even a recommendation from a close friend.... and I’m met with nothing happening for over an hour... no idea where the stylist went..... front desk person starts whispering to friends and they start staring :/ High school vibes :)They gave me a slice of pizza for lunch, which was appreciated, and a discount for the inconvenience. I left a tip despite my disappointment with the service, and the front desk person tried to accuse me of not tipping :| I asked if the free Japanese hair mask was still part of my visit like previously agreed upon, but due to the discount they offered, the free mask was revoked for this visit......I like my hair a lot but I hate being reminded of the negative experiences :( I have never cried in a salon before, and I was so hurt! They said they were busy and laughed while apologizing but I was serviced immediately after fussing............ I was just so sad about the entire thing. I cannot recommend this salon at this time despite that I do like the hair. This was a horrible first impression. I have seen other salons do the same thing and will look into those. This could have been avoided had the first stylist not leave without coverage.... an entire hour, and you’re just sitting there, feeling invisible...... why??? The standard price is $375 with a side of emotional distress and music from 2010... The discount is appreciated and honestly deserved... I really hate thinking about my time here, which I am sure is mutual.

Tom is talented and confident with his work. He is also very honest and patient and will answer all your questions. He color corrected my hair and matched my roots to blend perfectly/seamlessly without any damage. His assistant does an amazing job of color application. I am always extremely anxious and scared about trying a new salon/stylist due to previous horrifying experiences at other salons, but Tom did such a wonderful job. His Instagram is proof that he creates beautiful and extremely unique looks. I will definitely be going back and recommending Tom and his salon to my mom and friends. 👍
Jonathan was highly recommended to me by a friend on dyeing hair. I went to him to see what the hype was about and I assure you, he knows hair. Jonathans super nice, speaks english, mandarin and cantonese and has no problem in being honest when discussing about your hair. Mine was pretty damaged and dry, but he was able to save it.I went for a pink ombre, mid-length cut. Its beautifully done! It took many, MANY hours, but it was worth it. Depending on your length of hair and time, the cost can be around $250-$400. But as I said, it was worth it. Jonathan probably takes in 2-4 clients a day and he spends that amount of time on your hair. Very detail oriented and focused.If youre not satisfied with your hair, I think they give you a weeks time to go back for a fix. It was my fault for not going brighter because after a few days, the color faded slightly and I went back for a free touch up dye. Got it in fuchsia pink and in my 2nd month, the colors still going strong while maintaining it with pink shampoo. And I only paid an extra $20 for a blow dry. But now that he has his own salon, not sure what the rules and regulations are now. But I will definitely be a repeat customer. Already recommended my brother and mom to his salon. It was a blessing that I found Jonathan and Hair One Salon!! They are truly the best of the best. Im taking Jonathan and Tom with me to Paris Fashion week hahahaha. I dont want anyone touching my hair. Ly guys!!
If youre not asian, the discrimination you will get at this hair establishment is beyond words, dont waste ur time here if your latina or white, the stylists and assistants there snicker at you as a client which makes the entire experience uncomfortable and unwelcoming.
This place charges 25 dollar for just an simple cut. Yes, $25 dollars. The hair salon across the street only charges 15 dollar for the cut. In terms of experience, the 15 dollar is still better than 25. For the 25 dollar service I receive, the cut is done very quickly. When the cut is all finish up, the guy did not even ask me for hair gel or anything (which the store across the street always does). I am not saying they are bad, but I just think the experience could be better. By the way, 25 dollar does not include the tips. You have to pay them 30 instead of 20 (If you give $5 tip).

The first bad review in my life, I really couldnt bear it. When I started cutting, I realized that the barber was a newcomer who had just learned how to cut hair. My hair was cut unevenly, very strange. 45 US dollars was cut by a person who just learned to cut hair, personally feel very unreasonable. Personally, I will not go to this salon again. It is recommended that people who go to this shop for the first time ask about the work experience of the barber, and then decide who will do your haircut.

Just look at the before and after picture. I love my new hair and this place!!! Tom is the best!!! I have been thinking about re-dyeing for a long time, but under their careful explanation and professional advice, I I chose this one. There are several similar ones, but you really need to compare to know which one is more attentive. Tom is handsome and very careful to help you get the feeling you want. They will not exaggerate what they can do How about, they will tell you the condition of your hair very truthfully, and then let you know what effect your hair can dye. I really recommend it. It is an excellent place for those who want to make a drastic change in color, the best, if you want a gray or blue lilac, you should go there, they do not mistreat your hair

2022-03-16Jonathan is the best Asian hair colorist in nyc! Had my hair done 4 times and would recommend to those who are patient. My sessions generally take 8-10 hours but the results are amazing. Follow his instructions (use the free products he gives you!) to keep damaged hair alive. If you can’t maintain damaged hair, don’t get your hair colored.

2022-04-08If I could give it zero stars I would...This salon was a disappointment. Please dont be fooled by the pictures on Instagram... The assistant does all the work while tom mixes the colors. He likes to take credit as if he did the work. I payed $375 for my hair to not even last a week. He was willing to fix my hair free of charge. I felt very uncomfortable going back. The woman at the front desk claimed to say that my hair was looking good when I went there. I told her I was very upset at the way my hair looked and also told her it was blonde. She lied and said it was pink when it wasn’t. I have never had this happen before... He tries to make an excuse saying that it’s my fault that the color didn’t last. He was rolling his eyes and talking bad about me...He has gone up to me only to touch my hair and hit the top of my head while talking to his employer in another language. My hair is falling out, not only that but it wasnt fixed right. There were still blond strands of hair- when it should’ve been a purple to pink style. Tom seems to have his way of pushing customers away if he doesn’t like them for whatever reason. There is no way others go there to get their hair color only for it to last week! Don’t waste your time or your money on someone whose willing to scam you!

2022-07-16It took me almost 7hours to get this hair done, I’ve never had this color before which I’m impressed with Jonathan’s skill. He’s talent with colors and my hair still health and smooth afterwards!!I was so concerned about bleach will damage my hair but the result shows me it’s not!The last pic is the color after few washed! I still love it!

2021-01-29Jonathan is a hair color wizard. This took 7.5 hours but it was so worth it. My hair is still pretty healthy due to the slow bleaching process they performed, as well as the after care products they provided. Be advised that all light colors will fade overtime as you wash your hair. Ill be going back to see Jonathan for a toning session soon.

2020-12-15Got my virgin black hair bleached to a silver/gray. Process took about 7 hours. 5 months later and I still get compliments on how healthy and well maintained the color is. Highly recommend Jonathan and will be coming back here.

2020-08-22Had a HORRIBLE hair experience with Jonathan. Took 13 hours and spent a lot of $$$(422) to DAMAGE my hair. Didnt end up with something I am happy with or initially wanted due to pressure and poor communication by Jonathan. Had to settle for a second hair color choice. Hair treatment was HARDENED into roots of hair because employees didnt wash it out. CRAZY (!!) amount of hair broke and fell out. STIFF and then FLAKEY, SCARRED scalp. Jonathan and other employees can improve on communication, attention to detail, and care. I will NEVER RETURN to hairone again and I encourage others to NEVER COME HERE.

2021-08-27I like the detail to the coloring, but I find it unprofessional and disrespectful to imply that I am anorexic while I understood what they were saying. I also didn’t feel comfortable when the stylist kept blowdrying my hair and curling it despite displaying my discomfort for heat products, since I don’t style my hair and havent gone to a salon in more than 3 years. Other than that, she has good skills. I will not mention her name out of courtesy, but I advise to do your research on the stylists before getting your hair done at this place. The experience definitely makes your salon visits worth going back or not.

2021-12-13I usually don’t write reviews but I’m so upset on how my hair cut turned out. I’ve been coming to this place for a long time when Kimi use to cut my hair and then it was Owen since they both are not there I decided to try someone else but he clearly don’t know what he’s doing my haircut looks nothing like the picture I showed him I thought it will be better once it dries but it’s horrible I have an ugly bob which is short in the back, the left is longer than the right and it’s cut in different sizes I tried straightening it and it looks horrible, definitely won’t be coming here again.
